Sabrina Meister Jackson period aloysia Rickert and Elizabeth stock [Applause] it's easy to look back on our four years here above a West and think of all the things that went wrong but it's easier to think about the good times we had here instead think of all the people we met the experiences we've had and the lessons we've learned it's sad to think that it's all coming to an end but we still have the next chapter of Our Lives ahead of us we'll have a chance to make new memories for ourselves and new friends we might be starting our new lives now but we will always be maroons [Applause] as many of our parents and loved ones have already found out these next few years are some of the most important of Our Lives as we
continue this book of life into whatever our next chapter holds we must remember that every decision makes an impact now is the time to set yourselves up for your future and to lay out the path with the least obstacles to success learn from the challenges of the first few chapters to write the rest of your book foreign there is always a beginning middle and end one big story of everything we accomplish both done and undone all of these Pages before us are Unwritten waiting to see what kind of life we lead whether or not you go to college a university a trade school the workforce or the military those experiences will be written in those patiently waiting Pages let us all wish our fellow schoolmates good luck and whenever Endeavor they strive for being thankful
for the time weather [Applause] in this Sea of Faces some people I recognize others I may have only seen passing in the hallway but there is one common factor between every single cap and gown there's a spark in this class each one of you out there has a unique fire in your heart from our perseverance with a wacky school schedules to our struggles with a quickly changing world all of you are capable of doing amazing things whether you build this world from the ground up or fill it with the knowledge of a thousand textbooks yes this chapter of life may be coming to a close but look how far you've come take pride in your cap and gown celebrate your accomplishments and when you're ready take a breath Turn the Page and don't be afraid
to begin that next chapter [Applause] class of 2023 we are here in this moment together as we are side by side looking up from our seats at this stage looking up not at me or anyone on this stage but what happens after we cross this stage together but after today we will choose our own path no matter how narrow or well traveled that path may be we will Forge ahead for we have survived the covid-19 pandemic while being apart we have persevered on the field in the classroom in the theater and across our community while being distant but together so don't weep for this chapter is ending since a new one is beginning that will take us for a ride like no other as we continue playing the game of life [Applause] dear graduating class
of 2023. congratulations on this Monumental achievement that you have all reached as we stand on the precipice of the next chapter let's remember that the Book of Life Is Ours to write each day is a fresh page ready for us to inscribe with courage wisdom and heart fear not the blank pages that have yet to be written for they are opportunities in the skies embrace the challenges the uncertainties and the unknown because in it's in these spaces that we grow as we leap into the future let's take our experiences our dreams and the lessons we've learned here to mold a story that is uniquely ours here's to the next chapter class of 2023 maybe one of Discovery adventure and Triumph write it well thank you and roll tide thank you as we venture into our
next chapter in life we will be challenged drastically whether it is paying off our car payments or even buying our first house challenges will arise that will require us to bounce back in the hopes of succeeding as the French playwright Moliere said the greater the obstacle the more glory in overcoming it most of us sitting here today will struggle with the challenges of adulthood but we need to push on into a future of success that will follow us wherever we go so as your valedictorian I will send this off into our adulthood in which we will overcome these challenges to grow as humans in our next chapters of life [Applause] High School felt like an eternity but we made it to the end who would have thought the amazing class of 2023 would be sitting
here today we have come so far freshman year you know the time where you didn't know where your classes were of it no matter what to do remote learning prevailed and of the students the class as a whole persevered and made it through an unprecedented time that's why the class of 2023 stands out above all I know turning the page to a new chapter will open up a new can of amazement and the class of 2023 will continue to push through until the end no matter the path of your choice I know the result will be the same [Applause] today the senior class of 2023 and our principal will close this chapter of Our Lives after four years I believe that our future can be summed up in one quote coach herb Brooks famously said
Great Moments are born from great opportunities and opportunities are what we've been given we have all made some great memories and lasting relationships and as we remember these experiences we will use the knowledge we gained to propel ourselves to a better future we are surely face adversity or unexpected challenges that we will face head on I know the class of 2023 is ready to create Great Moments no matter what challenges are put in our way foreign West was working in the library one of my favorite parts of reading is deciding where to start but for some of us that is the most challenging part each and every one of us has our own different paths some of us are heading off to college to serve our country or to start the workforce we all have
our own unique stories to share these past four years may even be taught in this building one day the textbooks will not only cover the challenges we faced but rather how we overcame them because each day at Balboa West we were provided the essential skills by the staff and teachers to prepare us for the future each day was a Turning Page so we can have the confidence to start our next chapter [Applause] as our time in high school comes to a close a new chapter is arising for everyone no matter where life takes us in the future every single one of us should feel accomplished about the new life skills we have acquired throughout our time in high school we as a class have developed a strong sense of self-independence perseverance determination and integrity that
will continue to guide us through life and Aid us to become successful in all future endeavors all the challenges setbacks that have occurred during our time at Belvo West Maroons will allow each of us to surpass the thresholds of any obstacles that we may face in our next chapter of life no matter what it may be [Applause] it's been wonderful standing next to all of you as you forged out your own path every bit of character development you had from that time in the cafeteria to that awkward moment in that one class and every other piece of exposition you had you shared it with every one of your 531 classmates but your prologue's done now we are the precipice of your next chapter and a cliffhanger's no way to leave it so hurry up and
turn that next page I can't wait to see what you become foreign and a great burst of leaves growing on the trees just as things grow in fast movies I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer this feeling a feeling of next chapters and wide opportunities is reflected not only in the words of F Scott Fitzgerald's famous novel The Great Gatsby but also in our own lives as we approach the coming summer the anticipation of new beginnings the spring comes an atmosphere of change and growth and we may rightly feel that this day marks the Advent of the rest of our lives but as we move forward in the pursuit of our various post-high school goals I encourage you to greet every new day of your life with the
same sweeping summer feeling seeking to find the rising Summerstone of opportunity in each moment I am confident that this resilient class will be able to achieve any happiness that we strive to reach [Applause] sure this chapter is over and we can remember Miss and be thankful for our time here but a new chapter has begun a chapter where we can seize any opportunity that comes our way we can continue to make a name for ourselves as adults and even though we are done learning in high school we will keep learning every day but now about ourselves about our families our friends leaders our community and our world maybe our high school chapters still felt like it was a little out of our control but now the pages are blank and the pen is in your
hands but first let us walk across this stage and claim what we have earned here congratulations class of 2023. we made it [Applause] foreign graduates we celebrate you the class of 2023. all of us gathered here today in the stadium and online are collectively applauding your accomplishments feeling proud of you and wishing you happiness and success 40 years ago as a member of the above West class of 1983 I work cap and gown and is was waiting at the old Belleville West for commencement to begin parents I know that many of you can relate seniors I've dressed your class numerous times over the past four years and today I proudly address you as the graduating class of 2023. my address may be a little bit longer than usual morning announcements so please bear with me
