She's done. parents, you should be very proud because our teachers and staff select one student per grade level each month. And so you're, you know, with with

003170 to 200 students, your child was selected for this month. You should be very proud of that. Thank you guys. Come on down. [applause] All right, parents and families, you guys are more than welcome to stay for the rest of the board meeting, which is thoroughly exciting. or you can feel free to leave at any time. It's up to you guys. Uh board member code of conduct review. Joe and Vivian. >> Yes. >> Johnson. >> Yes. >> Bennett. >> Yes. >> Superintendent report. Mr. Golden.

004>> Awesome. Just a couple quick items. Uh January 31st enrollment update. We try to give you an enrollment update twice a year. Uh once at the start of the year and then once for the January 31st. Uh usually after winter break we get a little increase and this year we increased about 26 students. Um I looked back at the last few years and that was very typical of what happens. I it probably on the higher end but u we are getting some uh students coming into the new uh town homes that are down on Malidor. We we have some new families already down there. So I I anticipate as those fill up we'll get a few more from down there. But that's it for the uh enrollment update. And then um we just have the

005second reading of board policy press plus. >> All right. Anybody any questions on the update? >> Any questions on second reading for the board policy update? >> Can I please have a motion to approve the recent board policy update on second reading? >> Motion second. >> Tiffany and Vivian. >> All in favor? >> I. >> Any oppose? Eyes have it. The seniority listsbody. Anybody have any questions? [clears throat] >> Get these every year. >> This is something we have to approve every year at this time. Yeah. Melissa puts it all together and uh has our staff review it before we finally bring it to you. So for its accuracy, [snorts] >> can I please have a motion to approve it? >> [laughter] >> Can I please have a motion to approve the certified and support

006staff seniority list? >> Motion. >> Tiffany and Doug. All in favor? >> I. Any oppose? I have it. >> Uh the IG with Fox Lake >> and this this is just for um they they park their buses on our property. We get a they pay us a monthly fee for that. And then it the only other agreement here is just in case they borrow. There are times where they're short a driver, short a bus, we send one over and we have this agreement spells out how much we charge them, but there's no like longstanding uh support we're providing them. So it's just in case of emergencies [snorts] >> questions. Okay. Please have a motion to approve the updated intergovernmental agreement with Fox Lake Grade School District 114 for shared services and transportation. >> Motion >>

007second. >> Joe and Vivian. >> Yes. [snorts] >> Anybody have any questions on the January employment recommendations? >> Can I please have a motion to approve the January employment recommendations? Motion second. >> Joe and Doug. >> Yes. >> I'll have Matt come up. >> Sound system. >> Yeah. I'll have Matt come up and just share a little bit about the sound system. I think he's got a handout that he gave everybody. >> Uh I believe. >> So go ahead, Matt. So, in [clears throat] the uh middle school gym here at the sound system has been acting up for a couple years, but recently it's really started to fail. Um the the amplifier had to be restarted three times at the last concert for it to get up and running. Um the concern is we're not

008going to be we're not going to have a sound system that's going to be functional for graduation. So, um we looked into replacing the parts. Uh but the tech team had to find the parts on eBay and really wasn't a route we wanted to take uh for a temporary fix. Uh before winter break, I I reached out to four uh different vendors, three of which we had worked with in the past and one of which uh came highly recommended. Um I gave them an opportunity to come in, look at [snorts] the system, and then give a bid. Uh two people said they've already seen the system, which is true. They've been in the building before. The third came in. Um, and the one that came in was the only one that gave us a quote.

009Um, I did [snorts] reach back out and give multiple opportunities to the other three, but I didn't hear anything back. So, the quote we have is for $17,000 20 or $17,25 for the system. And then there are two pieces uh in the quote for replacing the speakers. We are choosing at this time not to move forward with that. The speakers are working. and we just wanted to get a an budgeting number estimate for what that would look like if we did have to to move forward with that. >> We did budget for this this year knowing that it was probably we about had a problem at graduation last year. So, uh we knew we were going have to get it replaced, but um so it is budgeted, but and it came in less than what

010we anticipated actually. So, [snorts] >> when was this current equipment installed? This wasn't part of the TVs and >> that's in the gym as far as I know. >> It's the original. It's definitely been here before me. >> So over 11 years. >> Yeah. >> But the the part that we looked up the amplifier, they don't that company doesn't even exist anymore. So it's it's pretty old. >> And then you're just recommending do you option one? >> Yes. Just the amplifier and the um new microphone and soundboard. >> This just the hard that cost. >> It's hardware, um, extra mics, labor, um, cable runs, um, yeah, just all that. >> Any other questions for Matt? Anybody else have questions? >> All right. Can I please have a motion to approve the upgrade repair school gymnasium

011and system option one motion >> second >> Joe and Tiffany >> yes >> right we accepted a resignation uh retirement from Jul transportation driver effective February 13, 2026. [snorts] We have any public comments? >> Pardon? >> Okay. Uh, does anybody have any questions on the foyer requests? >> No. >> Does anybody have any questions on the monthly reports for the board? >> Uh, the next regularly scheduled board meeting will take place on Monday, March 9th, 2026, close session beginning at 6 pm. Uh, we do need to enter into a second close session tonight. Um, so sir, is it do you have any questions or anything? >> What's up? >> I have a question regarding uh >> hopefully you can help me answer a question. Uh, due process rights for the students. I'm trying to find

012it in the handbook and I need to know how a child can be suspended without any sort of conference taking place or investigation taking place prior to the parents even knowing that they are being suspended. How can a suspension be instituted especially if it's disputed? >> Well, that I would I would have our super I don't know the details of your case. It's not about the case itself. It's the fact of >> in the handbooks. I'm trying to figure out you say he did something. Okay, there's an allegation, right? >> Do an investigation. We warrant the suspension. >> But you just come into school and your kids already suspended and then you're being told possibly the wise to me is not the proper way to do things around the school. >> Um I just want

013to know if there's any Okay, if you are the person I should direct it to, that's fine. >> But I was also wondering if there's any literature um that I might not be privileged to, well, not not privileged to, but I don't have in my possession. I have the parent student handbook and I have some of your board policies. So, if there is something that I'm missing, I uh I'm a little concerned. I will be at the school at 11:30 tomorrow. Believe I have a appointment with Mr. Cornwell. >> Um, we can discuss it further at that point if that's okay with you. >> Yeah, >> unless the board in front of me has any questions, concerns, comments. >> No, I mean we without knowing the specifics of your of the complaint, I don't really

014know how to address it. Like I I see I understand what you're saying. should be served prior to any conference of the parents involved. You know what I'm saying? >> Well, it's my it's our understanding as a board that >> suspensions are discipline is communicated with the parents directly. >> Yes. >> On the individual students actions and their actions only. >> Yes. >> How that's communicated through letter >> was post start of the suspension. >> Okay. >> That is wrong. that I would ask the superintendent to look into and go in from there. [clears throat] >> Okay, >> that's that's absolutely fine with me. I would appreciate it and >> that's my only question. >> All right. Thank you, sir. >> The end of the board meeting, too. Are you guys ready to wrap it

015up already? We >> we have to go into close session. >> All right. Well, thank you. Thank you. All right. Uh, I didn't know if I read this, but the next regularly scheduled board meeting will take place on Monday, March 9th with close session beginning at 6 p.m. Um, can I please have a motion to move to close session for the purposes of appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, dismissal, litigations, negotiations, and property? >> Motion. >> Second. >> Joe and Tiffany. All in favor? >> I. Any oppose?
