Stand for the pledge. >> I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible with liberty and justice for all. Okay. the additions to the agenda or the two. >> So, it actually is not in addition to the agenda. It's addition to that uh report. So, >> okay. >> Y >> All right. So, we're good. Or do we have any additions to the agenda? >> Nothing. All right. Board member code of conduct >> live. I will strive for a positive working relationship with the superintendent, respecting the superintendent's authority to advise the board, implement board policy, and admin and administer the district. >> Awesome. Any questions on the consent agenda? >> Nope. >> Need a motion to approve the consent agenda. >> Motion.
>> Second. >> Tiffany and Vivian. >> Yes. Yes. >> Yes. >> Superintendent reports. >> All right. Uh exhibit 9, 10, and 11 is just our citizens advisory council for uh the coming year. Um we've had we had a decent response to it. Um I am going to I will tell you in the past couple years we've seen a little less engagement with citizens advisory council. So um a lot of the names that are on this list are have been names to people that have been on it for a few years which is great. I just let them keep coming and they I am going to uh start um our first meeting would be in September or yeah in September. And uh I'm gonna have a little um activity during the first meeting to just ask
them what do you want out of this like what what can we what more can we give you that we're not giving you? Uh but they the ones that have been there for a while, they they seem to really enjoy it, like the information, but just trying to do what I can to increase some engagement. So So I just need a Joe. I just need a motion to approve the uh the listing. >> I need a motion to approve the citizen advisory council members for 2025 2026. >> Motion Bryant. >> All in favor? I >> opposed. >> All right. And then I was just going to give you this is thought it'd be a good time just to give you an update where we're at uh for this. We've got a had a lot going
on this summer and um uh we are one week away from welcoming staff week from Monday week from today. Uh regist I have a few bullets I want to review real quick with you. Registration residency verification. So, we're uh registration wise um we are looking solid, but I will tell you our numbers coming into kindergarten just are not uh I would say not recovering from where they were five years ago. We continue to see in the 160 to 170 range for kindergarteners coming in. We used to see 180 was a low number and uh um so but that's been a trend now all the way probably last five years. So, um I thought maybe this year would be a year we bump up a little bit again, but as of uh today, I think we
were still at one we were at 150 for kindergarten, which we'll still probably get another 10 to 15 before, uh the start, but um so yeah, just we're just not we just don't seem to be getting those big numbers in. Even with the developments that we've had of recent years, like the Remington North really didn't bring any new students in. and we got students from Remington North, but we have other areas where we're just not getting as many students anymore. And then, uh, we have a, you know, subdivision down the road here that's getting or the, uh, town home complex is getting built. So, that'll bring some students. Uh, but obviously it's still in the process. So, anyway, just letting you know that's residency staffing. I just, as I mentioned a little earlier, uh, we
are in really good shape staffing wise. We have every position filled. Um and uh the principles did a really nice job starting early last year and filling positions as early as they could. And really we haven't been scrambling this summer to fill positions for the most part. Uh new teacher onboarding. Um Nicole Stra, our u teaching and learning coordinator did a nice job uh bringing with planning our new teacher mentoring program activities. We've had them in two days last week. Uh I know middle school had new teachers here today. Elementary and primary will have new teachers again this week. Um so they're all have been getting onboarded uh in the last week or so. Uh curriculum resources we you know last year we approved the new ELA curriculum resource and there's been a lot of
trainings happening over the summer including today. Uh we had a lot of teachers here on campus today doing a full day training. um all the resources are in and distributed and uh there's a lot of work behind the scenes for that that people may not know about and uh they've done a nice job with that. Um Dr. Pitman's going to give a quick update on student services on her end, things that are going on there. Awesome. >> Thank you. Thank you. And then, uh, Matt McCully has been, as you know, has been transitioning to a business operations position. So, he's going to give you an update on some facilities and transportation things we're working on. >> So, um well, when I came back from my little leave, the first thing I walked into was a
whole bunch of contractors at my door asking questions and getting us ready to go. So, the HVAC project is is almost done. They're working on the chiller at the elementary and hope to get the air conditioning up and running tomorrow for them. And then it's just a little bit of touchup around the the three buildings. The door system is going to is about 95% done. There's a few hardware and the interior for doors that didn't have locks on them before that they're waiting on parts for to put up, but those are all going to be set to go. And the fobs is really, I think, been a nice it's going to be a nice addition. It's going to be a lot easier for us to help staff get through get around the building. Um the
PA system is being completed this week as well. Um the playgrounds, the primary playground, the grass has been laid. The elementary is in the process of being finished with delayed and then being laid. And then the um uh prek, they're going to be finishing that up this week as well, but we are down to just the laying of the the grass. Um the new construction's done over at the other building. Uh Um the teachers are starting to teachers are starting to move in. And then um in transportation, we do have updates to tell you about uh Fox Lake School District asked for our help with parking some buses. They lost their area that they parked their buses uh pretty suddenly. So they've asked to park some of their big buses in our lot. And then
the vans um outside of our parking or bus parking area and in those red spots up front uh they will be paying us $1,000 a month to do that until they find a place to do it. And then Jackie Laskkey, our transportation coordinator, is also helping them because they lost their transportation coordinator in part as part of this. Um so she's helping them kind of getting their uh back on their feet. Um, right now it's not planned on being a long-term thing, but we're kind of in the see how that goes phase. Um, if it's something that's going to be financially beneficial for us as a district as well as not take away from what we already do and offer, um, then that might be something where we look to do what we do with
food service, but we have an intergovernmental agreement, but we are very much in the getting our toes wet phase and just seeing if this if we can at least just help them. >> That's it. Yeah. Any questions on that? That's all happened in the last week and a half or so. That's why I haven't really updated you. I thought I'd talk to you about at the board meeting, but they had a kind of an emergency and uh we just trying to help them out. And so Jackie, what she's doing is kind of on the side right now with them and it's not impacting what she's doing here. So uh we thought we'd give it a month and then we'll reevaluate. I'll sit down with the Matt and I will sit down with the facilities committee,
the operations committee, and talk about where we're at with it and what it would look like if we decide to do anything further with them. But >> any questions on any of that? >> Yes, go ahead. >> Have you planned the parent pickup yet for this year where they're routing them? Are they going to be in that parking lot? >> Yeah, we weren't planning any changes. >> So, are those buses going to be able to get in and out of there with parents lining up? Oh, >> the vans. >> Yeah. Um, the vans are going to be uh actually uh in this parking lot against the backs up to the soccer field. We're going to line them up along that back there. >> The red lines are uh that is related to what you're talking
about. The red lines in the front parking lot are for and there's going to be a sign that it's for bus driver parking because we were having >> people that come really early. >> Yeah. >> And they were park. They were coming so early. They were coming before our bus drivers come to get on their buses to load for middle school and they were coming for the primary elementary pickup. So, we made them park out there. Well, then they were parking bus driver spots. So, they couldn't get into their spot. So, we that's what we did. So, the bus the red spots are for bus drivers only so that nobody takes those so they can get in and out. >> Gotcha. >> Yeah. It's crazy, but All right. Uh, that's all I have in my
update then. >> All right. >> And I can talk about item eight >> before you do a motion to approve. Is that okay? >> Yeah, sounds good. >> Okay. Um, this is our tenative budget. And I in exhibit 12, you'll see all the if you ever want to just a refresher on the accounting terms that we use and how it's set up in our accounting system. Exhibit 12 is a really good synopsis of that. Um, exhibit 13 is a tenative budget and I will tell you like like I've told you in years past in the August when I give you the tenative it is very tentative because we don't even know our health insurance numbers yet. Uh, open enrollment just finished and we'll be putting those numbers in here. actually they're putting them in right
now and then in September I will give you a final budget that will be uh much more accurate and I will plan on uh we're trying to schedule a uh finance committee meeting for just before that board meeting. I do have some things to talk about to be I I'm going to go into a lot more detail on this uh at our September meeting with the U hearing that we have. We have a budget hearing before that meeting starts. I'm going to go into a lot more detail on this, but uh this is going to be there's going to be decisions that I have to make we have to make this year about uh where we go uh with some uh just financially with some staffing and uh some p some expenses that we currently
have. So, we're going to have to take a look at because the state I I shared with you last month, the state uh hit us pretty hard in some reductions this year and that's going to happen again this coming year. So, um we did get in the evidence-based funding model, we've been seeing 7 to $800,000 increases in that every year, which has been really good for us. We've benefited from that. Uh this year uh CPS fell into our tier and so the uh there's $150 million that gets split up amongst the districts in our tier which is the lowest funded tier or the tier of lowest funded schools and C since CPS fell into it uh they got they get they got a $50 million share of that. So um we >> so we our
increase in so I was hoping for 7 to 800 and we got about 250. >> So that's a significant decrease from what we anticipated. So we're we're really going to have start having some administratively some really difficult conversations about where we get you know we got to make some decisions. So we don't want to see the district go sliding backwards. So you're gonna this will be uh this will be something we'll be talking about throughout the year. So, but next month I'll be able to give you a lot better budget, more concise, and we can have a deeper conversation about it. >> Okie do. I need a motion to approve the tenative budget for school year 2526 on first reading. >> Motion second. >> Tiffany and Bib Yes. >> Yes. >> Okay. I need a
motion to approve the July 2025 employment report with the addition of Anna Kramer, middle school softball coach, effective September 20th, and Michael Art, middle school boys soccer coach, effective September 20th, 2025. Motion. Second >> Ash. >> Yes. >> Okay. I need a motion to approve the parent student handbook for 2025 2026. >> Motion. >> Second. Tiff Doug. >> No. Brian. >> Brian. Oh my god. >> Uh, all in favor? I >> I >> eyes have it. Okay. We need a motion to approve the recent board policy update on second reading. >> Motion. Second. >> Vivian. >> Doug. >> All in favor? I >> opposed. >> All right. >> I should explain the next one for a minute. We have we've had three vans >> uh for I think we bought them in 2018 and uh
they're one of them just is beyond repair. So, we had to scrap it and we our initial plan was to purchase three vans this year and scrap and trade in the other two. But um with the budget situation, we're going to try to drive the other the two we have, we're going to keep driving them until if if we have serious issues, we're gonna have to buy another one. But um we are purchasing one van. I have a few more details with it. I didn't when I put the packet out, but it's a 2021 Sienna. Um 32,000 miles for $40,000 from Toy Fox Lake Toyota. Um, and these vans take the place of us having to hire outside transportation at pretty high amounts. So, and we do have drivers. So, uh, that's it's definitely a
money savings thing for us in the long in the long term, but we have to put out the, uh, capital at 40,000. >> Any questions? I need the motion to approve the purchase of one van for the purpose of transporting students with special needs to out of district instructional placements. >> Second, >> Ashley and >> yes. Yes, >> we accepted the resignation of Mariach de Garcia, food service work, August effective August 5th. Any public comments? Uh, freedom of information requests. Any questions? There were none. Okay. Any questions on the monthly reports for the board? The next regularly scheduled board meeting will take place Monday, September 8th, 2025 with close session beginning at 6 pm. Need a motion to close. >> Motion second. >> Tiff Vivian.
