003school classes Good News Club is offered by a couple of this is one class that uh spans both buildings so it's K through four there are a couple of those did I miss one no okay karaoke puzzles and games this is a club for K1 arts and crafts this is a K1 arts and crafts so we have a few different ones um offered they make some really neat projects here's a let's play class um this is a really great way to help build students ability IES to play together and to learn how to get along social skills and team building staying active getting them outside running around teaching them some playground games and the really nice thing is there's been some carryover some of these kids will take these games that they've learned after school

004and then they'll teach them to their friends during recess so it kind of keeps giving back it's really nice open gym and this is another one that span both buildings so grades one and two guitar and ukulele love this learning how to play the guitar and the ukulele for our first graders After School PE this one was a kindergarten specific PE and a first grade specific After School PE they really loved getting to play some of their favorite PE games but this is an hour right PE is only 25 minutes so they loved getting to do all their favorite things for even longer and then this was an after school PE for grades one and two and so this one carries over then for second graders um taught by a number of staff from primary

005as well as substitute from elementary so some arts and crafts there and then some sports stack stacking they have this offered not only you know through PE classes and there's some family events in the evening time that we do with this um they also have it offered after school for those students who enjoy cup stacking um this is a walking Club done by um some teachers in in multiple buildings here for grades two through four and then we have a Garden Club that's offered in grades two through four and we have several book clubs that we started this year and kids quite a number of kids really signed up for these book clubs um some who were struggling readers who absolutely reading came alive for them and we saw some great growth there our um

006actually our administrative assistants in the offices uh um offered these classes this year this one was one Frog and Toad book club and there's a drawing club and the interesting thing about this particular Club it's uh by Young ramb brand I've heard of this club in other places for a while and a former um Big Hollow student had reached out to me introducing herself and saying that she was the manager of this um program young REM brand and would we be interested in hosting it at our school so she came for grades two through four it's amazing what the kids can come up with there um this particular program there is a link in here if it's in you know in the board packet if you'd like to take a look at the the the

007movie trailer uh Mr tazioli is a Hollywood producer and he during his downtime when he's not producing movies uh He is wanting to work with students in schools to help Inspire kids to consider a career in the entertainment industry so that's a new club for us this year and that spans both uh the elementary building and the middle school we have this is another new club this year and um it's a coding Club it was meant to to be a girls coding club that we had gotten from a company and we just needed a staff to uh facilitate it and they did do so but we opened it up to both um both genders chess club we've had around for a long time and this particular organization is actually has a lot of other options

008for after school clubs so they're offering something in the summer uh this summer for students who um after summer school uh they'll they'll offer an additional um act some additional activities for them to participate in in the summertime we also have the wbhe news crew uh we got many I we received many ideas last year from the Middle School news crew and brought that down to the elementary building so our fourth graders participate in and produce the news uh for every day that our entire School uh views and they do an awesome job we also added a student council a couple of years ago they meet after school all of the representatives from every classroom in the building as well as the officers so about 32 students for student council and then a couple of

009the other book clubs Harry Potter book club um It's Not Unusual to see Mrs Berg running around the office dressed either like Mary Poppins or Harry Potter when she's getting the the students excited and geared up for these um book clubs there was also the uh Motorcycle book club The Mouse and the Motorcycle book club as well and then finally soccer club uh to administrative assistants also offered a soccer club for after school um to grades two students in grades two through four and then these are just a few of the ideas that we have for some future clubs and activities that we'd like to offer um you can see our list hoping to get our students involved in as many different activities as they like to try done that opportunity to try conversations with

010like families that have come from other areas and they're like this is so unique at our old school you didn't get this until fifth grade or you didn't get this until middle school so we're just really proud to be able to offer this for even our youngest students even our kindergarteners can join these clubs so if any of you have any hidden talents or interests at all in running an after school club don't hesitate to reach out to either one of us so thank you thank you very much the amount of things that we offer our K4 students is truly incredible after school it's great okay accom accomplishment and recognition Mr Doug is gonna help uh okay superintendent gold hand out this is usually this is always my favorite part of the our meetings but

011tonight tonight we have some really cool um pres or honores so um we're going to start with our primary student of the month so I'll have Miss Janice come on up I am very excited to announce that the primary student of the month is our own first grader Libby Robinson Libby will you come up and I have her teacher Mrs Carol here Mrs Carol nominated her and we'd like to hear the reasons why you've nominated Libby hi hi I'm Lisa Carroll this is my student Libby um I'm gonna read what I wrote when I nominated her I said I'm nominating Libby for student of the month because of her exceptional Behavior work work ethic and kindness Libby follows all our star expectations and sets a great example for her classmates she stays focused during lessons

012and always does her best Libby has made great progress this year because she puts so much effort into her work she has a positive attitude and works well with her classmates most importantly Libby radiates kindness she is quick to help others expecting nothing in return her calm and quiet demeanor is refreshing and her beautiful smile brightens everyone's day Libby is caring patient and polite Libby is definitely a Big Hollow star and I'm so proud of her there you go perfect perfect good job [Applause] okay and Dr bancana for elementary okay uh this month's Elementary student of the month is John hacker who was nominated by Mrs Lucas's art teacher [Applause] I know he's taller than me um I nominated John I'm not going to read my email I'll share it with Mom later Mom and

013Dad um but I email JN because he is truly the embodiment of a Big Hollow star he really is he has safe takes responsibility shows respect but most of all he's kind I watch him include every child um and it's very natural it's not forced it's natural he includes everybody and he's a really really really good friend so I'm sad to see him go [Applause] all right Mr Cornwell hi everybody our student of the month winner this year is or this year we've had one every month that's why it's called student of the month uh is Cora Martins and we have Kelsey Zach her math teacher who is going to come up and tell everybody why she was nominated [Applause] cor I think you and Libby are like the same person because I wrote a

014lot of the same things um so K has been caring hardworking and exceptional student all school year long cor is a peer role model and when it comes to work ethic advocating for herself holding peers accountable and being in charge of her own education she truly is a role model um which is interesting considering her level of maturity and core is the youngest eighth grader we have aside from being an advanced classes including geometry and eighth grade and advanced Ela at school core has been involved with softball student council PBIS fulfillment epic um Lunch Buddies at the elementary school volunteering at track meets and National Junior Honor Society outside of school kaora also plays softball is awful all often traveling on the weekends and still gets all her homework done core comes to school with

015a positive attitude a willingness to try and a desire to learn core is a great Mo role model to students of all levels here at Big [Applause] okay our employee employee of the month this month we uh were focusing on the area of support services and our staff nominated someone anonymously nominated Our IT team and so uh Our IT team of Jimmy AA Hol Brahma and Matt McCully won the award tonight and Jimmy has in pure technology form Big Hollow champion this Holly here tonight so Holly couldn't be here tonight I can say I won't read anything but I can tell you that this group of three is just phenomenal support team for our staff um and uh they when we talk to our staff about what their needs are in technology we just don't

016hear a lot because they feel very supported and uh these three have a special gift of being able to walk in and help somebody and not to make them feel bad for asking for help which is a which is a tough quality to find in good tech people so they uh they do a great job so uh Jimmy Matt and Holly are employees of the [Applause] mon thatd true guy right there and I guess this is a recognition that uh we didn't know until last week uh we are honoring uh staff at the educator of year ceremony in Lake County and we had several staff nominated for different different roles board and um at the end of the events they select one person from Lake County as the educator of the year it's a big

017deal and the regional superintendent called me because he found out I wasn't going to be I was in Springfield at a meeting heading back to and I was going to be late for the I couldn't make it to the uh event he called me and said you have somebody winning tonight and he go he wouldn't tell me what for he just said I have somebody winning something I said Mike I can't get back by that time and uh anyway we not only had somebody winning we had somebody win the biggest award uh Don Smith second grade teacher Lake County educat year and just so you know when they select that there's recommendations written by staff and also some parents and I think it was some of the parent letters that put her over the top

018from what I heard so the parent letters uh made the committee there's a committee in Lake County that reviews these they don't know who the people are they just review the submissions and uh I think it was the parent letters that really sent it over we have four retirees to honor I think I'm just going to call you all up together they were glad that we had the uh uh open house tonight and I'm going to call them all up together there there are a lot of years of service here um I'm going to start with pet de George 22 years of service at Big Hollow Paulette come on up so pette you can come on up and then Phyllis Smith 30 years of service a Big Hollow I've got awards for you over here

019is David here oh David jesmer David jesmer is not here David jesmer was 33 years at Big Hollow so and then our last one not only has been at Big Hollow 33 years but she went to school at Big Hollow and so she's really uh put a her life effort into big Hollow and we're going to miss her next year Miss lenan Janice principal at primary [Applause] and that is it for our recognitions oh whoops I'm sorry yes we have a video lenan that's going to be played for lenan right now so the we promise uh somebody better get some T tissue from L Nan I think for e e e other resources that that are available for students um if they should need it um and yand does have a lot of messaging that

020they provide that you can share with the community so a lot of this we don't even have to to create ourselves the nice thing is they've already been doing this so it's not like we're first in line to do this Woodland Middle School has them that's where I went and saw them in person um there's an article that just came out in the Washington Post of a middle school in Connecticut that's having great results Stanton is going to have them next year so we're definitely not alone in considering adopting these um and I think that there's a lot of benefits so I'm going to can we hand it over to Yonder Matt is he on so we're going to let Yonder present and then we'll have a Q&A time hey Alex hi can you hear

021me some we're just gonna uh can you hear me Adam El how about now can you hear me okay all right let's give it a try turn yourone all right let's try testing can you hear me okay now we're good all right um so I guess has Josh already given his presentation and spoken so and I'm just kind of following up yes okay wonderful well good evening everybody uh my name is Alex and I am with Yonder it sounds like you've kind of gotten a bit of an overview already but uh I've been asked just to give a little bit more of an overview and general you know how General how we how we practice with schools um how we you know Implement our kind of end to end process and just a little bit

022you know higher level picture of our Yonder program in general so I'm going to go ahead and share my screen we got the audio now the question will the video also work and uh can you guys see my screen okay yes all right wonderful so I will try to be short and sweet as much as possible um and I want to leave plenty of time time to answer any questions that you might have um you know happy to go into more detail with the program specifics or just you know Yonder in general so just a little bit of background about myself I'm the education Partnerships manager for the Midwest I've been with Yonder since 2017 before that I was actually at a high school that eats Yonder I was looking out there in Boston at

023the time and uh I actually implemented Yonder you know firsthand I saw the results I half jokingly asked if Yonder was hired so back home to the Midwest and here I am about seven years later it's been just really amazing to see the impact that we've had and the growth we've had with our school Partners um both in the number of schools who are using our services and also you know the results that they're seeing um as I'll kind of allude to here in the presentation um I always kind of like to start with why we're here and I know Josh touched on this a little bit um again having been doing this you know both as a educator directly and then working with Yonder for the last seven years we've seen a lot um

024both inside of schools and then outside just with society as a whole and I think we're in a good place in that Society is starting to catch up to the issues that we're seeing day in and day out with our school Partners um I'm sure a lot of you have probably already seen this but we're coming up on the you know Oney year anniversary when the Surgeon General we have a pretty scathing advisory about the impact social media has on children and adolescents um we're seeing more and more recommendations you know UNESCO the United Nations uh education arm made a proposal that all schools should ban phones across the globe the research is really overwhelming at this point and I think there's a lot more of an appetite to do something about the problems that

025we're seeing because um you know I think the cats out of the V at this point and we really want to make sure we can help impact that change not just to improve academic outcomes and it lower those behavior issues but also on that social emotional level and just the overall development of of our next Generation so I always like to start with what we do uh to help schools become phone free rather than just showing you the pouches because while we do have a really incredible tool to enforce the policy and make sure that you all see success it's really about the way that we partner with our schools and kind of the you know end to end process so well before any student has a Yonder pouch in their hand we want to

026make it very clear that everybody in the community knows exactly why this is happening and what it's going to look like and what's also nice is that again having been doing this for a really long time we're going to work really closely with each school and District that we partner with to make sure that everything is set up for Success we've had you know eight or nine years of trial and error at this point and we've really gotten it down to as much of a science as possible and we want to make sure we can impart that knowledge with all of our partners so the very first thing we would do is we meet with school leadership and come up with a really concrete plan taking into account the number of entrances the number of

027exits bell schedule all of that and we share our best practices and combine that with your school building your code of conduct and your you know kind of General Behavior plan to make sure that we have a really solid plan in place that's going to be aligned with your school culture and climate but is also going to be a really impactful and successful program once we kind of help work with you to develop that we have parent letter communication we really want to again make sure all all community members know the why behind going phone free and then how this is going to look on a day-to-day basis we also do a staff meeting to go over implementation and best practices and really help just make sure all of the teachers feel comfortable and confident

028with this process really empowered to kind of get their classroom back and not have to worry about the cell phone distraction and then lastly we do have a student presentation um that usually Home Room teachers or advisers would give the students again making sure they know what to expect why this is happening and and what it's going to look like we want to be as positive and proactive and non-punitive as possible at the same time we also want to make sure you're set up for you know what happens if the suit doesn't follow the policy and that sort of thing once all of that communication is done um that's when uh we go live and and really make sure that you're going to have uh that effective policy and I'm I'm guessing um you've probably

029seen this already but just as a reminder each student would be issued a Yonder pouch um as students come in in the morning they take their phone out they slide it on in and then they close it up and they are now phone free and they do not have access to their phone throughout the day although they do get to keep it on their person and this is obviously really nice in terms of eliminating the separation from students having to turn phones in and also eliminating that liability um on schools of having to collect you know hundreds of cell phones or anything like that at the end of the day these are the unlocking bases that are normally um you know insalled near the exit to the building students walk by they tap it they

030pouch their you their open their phone and they're good to go as at the times when students are in the building um this piece gets removed so that students aren't allowed to you know just walk by and open their pouch in between Class periods or anything like that as well and then just to kind of wrap things up a few um pieces of data that we've uh collected over the last several years um you know in terms of our impact this is from our survey that we do at the end of every school year um last year over 370 of our schools responded 86% of teachers identified more teaching and learning time in their classrooms once they implemented Yonder and then um basically you know we're at the point now where over a million students

031are using Yonder every day and the the the data is pretty overwhelming across the board when schools Implement Yonder we see an improvement in student engagement we see an improvement in student behavior and we see an improvement in academic performance so you know what that looks like a lot of times is fewer issues related to cyber bullying and social media um fewer issues Rel related to you know altercations whether they're being recorded scheduled on the phone all of those issues even skipping class goes down because students don't have that ability to organize what time what period they're going to meet up in the bathroom and need their TI Tok challenges so it's really something across the board from academics to behavior to just overall um you know social emotional learning you just really see those

032improvements across the board and so I will uh I'll go ahead and pause there definitely wanted to leave a little bit of time um to answer any questions that uh anybody might have so I think we'll let board members ask questions to Josh and uh I'm sorry our what's our representative's name again Alex Alex so Josh and Alex either one could take it I'm I'm just going to say the first question because I know that it's it's on your mind in an emergency situation I want to reach my child I'm not going to be able to too Alex can you talk about how you talk through that with Yonder I there there's a bit of feedback so and I can kind of hear I think the question was around what happens in the event of

033an emergency is that right with emergency and then parents having the anxiety of wanting to be able to talk to we we know that's not good practice but how do we talk to that with with Community because there's going to be anxiety of knowing that I can't reach my child when I want to got it absolutely so um I I think there's there's a few different um pieces to that and Josh would you like to answer that or I'm happy to kind of answer from a higher perspective from our experience with younger then you can dive into more specifics what would be the most helpful I I kind of addressed it already so maybe if he can just give his perspective if you could give your perspective please sure absolutely so it is obviously a

034very delicate um conversation to have I think at the end of the day Priority One is student safety we want students to get to safety as quickly as possible and from that safety standpoint we really want to make it clear Priority One is looking up paying attention to your surroundings paying attention to your staff and teachers and getting to safety and of course once they're in a safe location they can very quickly open their pouches and have access access to their phone um in an extreme emergency the phone the pouches can be destroyed they can be you know broken open and broken into um at the same time I think the other piece just the general anxiety and day in and day out that is something that is important to have that conversation with um

035you know parents and community members to make it really clear that anxiety is is something that we we do want to address because right now what's happening is students throughout the day are also having some level of anxiety around having access to their phones wanting to see what's happening on social media and that's having a direct impact not only in their education but overall with their mental health and so our our standing on that is we want to give that opportunity for those eight hours a day for students to have a break from their phone and and that's one thing that we hear time and time again from students specifically who initially are very anti and have a lot of things to say about why they don't think they should use Yonder in their school

036a few weeks in a few months in we hear from those same students about how much less stressed they are how much more relaxed and how much more they're enjoying their school environment they're talking with students they don't have to feel like they need to constantly be Tethered to their device as much and so from a parent standpoint that is something that we want to make sure to be very mindful of and talk about the messaging and I think at the same time we want to make it clear that parents can absolutely still get in touch with their child whether it's calling the main office or you know some schools are on toone with devices and they can send emails we don't want to interrupt that ability for parents to communicate with your children and

037vice versa we just want to be a little bit more intentional about it and make sure that there's a time and place for students to be a lot more focused and engaged with their learning and I think that's the big thing is once this distraction is removed students are going to be a lot more successful so I understand it can be tough parents at times but at the same time if they're looking at you know their overall students development it's it's going to be definitely a net positive and there're still ways that that parents can get in touch with their children yeah and just to add to that you know as a school students can always come to the office and use their cell phone if they really need to communicate with their parent it's

038not something that wouldn't be allowed um but we do also need to to limit some of that because I think sometimes they over communicating with the parents and as I referred to before that can create a barrier between staff and students with us being the resource for them to help them with a school-based problem so in that emergency situation kids are leaving the building or anything and you say when they're in a safe location they can unlock it but how would they once they've left the building unless we have devices out there to unlock they have handheld um unlocking mechanisms as well so he did show the the base that screws onto to the walls but they also have handheld ones so when it comes to dismissal time we'll have right he's holding it up

039there so we'll have staff in the hallways that have those as well oh and the other part is um picturing the end of the day people leaving from the bus how many of them do you need to unlock to make sure that the kids are not like delayed because everyone has to stop tap unlocking I could just see lines of kids waiting to unlock yeah so Alex I you probably can't hear the question very well but he did talk talk about how that's one of the things that they specialize in is being able to set up our entrance and exits so that we have enough uh but on top of that one you know we brought that up in the climate meeting and he said kids are going to figure it out because they want

040to be able to get into their phones but we even talked about maybe putting a couple outside so if a kid happens to forget or something they can come back after school um but they would help us plan you know our traffic flow and and make sure that we have enough for those bases for the for the kids to be able to get out in a timely manner because we definitely don't want to delay the buses and all those other things we brought up the same question and another question for it is is this this obviously blocks them from using their screen but a lot of them have voice recognition turned on I mean how do we still prevent them from just asking Siri or Google to send text messages read their email things like

041that you're still not going to get away from that yeah but that I would still consider that an infraction because you're using the phone and it would be confiscated for the day who's responsible for the bags uh the child so they're going to take them home every night correct if they choose I mean one of the things to keep in mind is that some parents don't want their kids to have phones they'll still be issued a Yonder pouch and so if that child is never going to use it because they don't have a phone they can just leave it in their locker so that it's always here right um we'll have to put in some kind of a charge for parents if it were to get lost but we'll also plan for that by having

042extras in case um they were to get lost but yeah that would basically just be another school supply just like the the Chromebooks where if it's lost or damaged it would have to be replaced so if they take it home with them and they forget it the next day or something do they get a temporary one or they just can't bring their phone in correct yeah we would have temporary ones available or they would just have to leave it in their in the office yeah and then the fifth graders will be responsible for this bag for four years that's what they're telling us yeah they say that it's it's durable enough that you can use it you're on year so um when I went and saw these at Woodland they actually had the kids write

043their names on them in permanent marker so they're not trying to you know pass them on I guess you know like if eighth graders right so I mean that that's kind of something that we're going to have to see is how how long do these things hold up and so and then we will have to purchase them every year for upcoming fifth grade yeah that's our thought yeah and then we'll make the parents responsible to buy a new one if there l or broken three or four year period yeah correct but I mean I would also think let's say next year's eighth graders for example those could probably be rolled over to our fifth grade if their names are not on them right yeah we're gonna we're going to tag them differently so that so

044they can be yeah so I went and saw it at Woodland and in addition to you know we got the kids that don't have the phones a lot of kids were saying when we went around and just talked to them they just stopped bringing their phone because they were like what's the point I don't even need it anymore um so a number of the pouches weren't even getting used because the kids figure why why bother you know but yeah that is definitely something that we'll have to consider so my biggest concern is that first I don't like the school period um but this solves one of the problems on it is the bigger issue um as far as so what are you going to do when you see a student the first time with a

045sell phone out of their bag what is the recourse is it automatic parent pickup correct yeah the first infraction would be automatic parent pickup okay so that that would make this more feasible for me because if we're gonna say you get a warning no the yep right because it's so Universal yeah we're going to be more strict on the consequences right away yeah and who would monitor the students to make sure they're putting them in there and locking them so one of the things that Woodland said that they do is they'll do spot checks where they'll just go into a classroom and say everybody hold up hold up your pouches um and the one time that I went it was during a home room so they had a couple extra minutes and they were right

046by their lockers and so the assist in principal had them go out and prove that they even had it in their locker because with their policy you're not excluded from being required to have it even if you don't have a phone oh oh they still have to have the pouch on them correct but not on them but they have it right right and they they they can find ways around it you know they will I can throw burner phones in there they can just say they don't have a phone but the bottom line is if we see a phone it goes to the office parent has to come get it there's no more struggle on that and that's fine that's where you no fraction you know honestly I am going to talk with Alex to

047kind of see what other school districts do in terms of their their progression of discipline and Woodland as well um I wasn't able to connect with the AP over there to get their to get a copy of their policy before we met um but yeah I'm you know other schools have done this I'm going to follow their lead but it's definitely going to be much more strict than than our current policy and I didn't even know that the kids could use it recess lunch does that mean that's going away completely yep that seems like we're not allowing cellones we at this period that's already giving way too much Le so I don't know when that was put in place but yeah seems counter it hasn't worked well so that's what mean yeah then the kids

048are going to have to have their phone on to go to lunch because they're going be mhm it's just if we were to have said you can't have them in the cafeteria it would be much more difficult to enforce we got 220 kids in here for eight adults also when you say the power struggle that's kind of current concerning it's a rule they break it there is no struggle you guys should I understand it's their personal item but if if they had a vape on them what would you want if and or but if they you know got caught cheating on with another paper there would be no h or but it should be the same for the cellones it shouldn't be when you say power struggle it sounds like you're you're say communicate with

049these kids youed it so many times and it's a rule like no any other rule but why are we negotiating around this one so I mean I like that this is in place and that we can jump to you know a severe consequence but I also don't think there should be any difference in this rle versus the other so I think I think you should Define power struggle because I know what you're saying Ash I know what you're saying yeah we we've done that with a handful of kids yeah yeah I'll just give you some insight on a situation that happened where that student then immediately called their parent and the parent then defends the child so now I'm getting into an argument with a parent in the hallway about why the kid so that

050actually happens more often than that oh I'll call my dad right now he says I can have it you can't take it from me so it it should be that easy right you need to hand over your phone but because we have so many parents who are saying this phone is your property and no one can take it from you like I end up having a struggle with a parent and then I'm trying to re-educate a parent in the moment instead of just being able to take the phone and what you're saying is exctly right as our schoe of conduct though yeah I mean it is okay so there is it's not re-educating that's the r if it were anything else you would talk to the parent completely different but because it's their cell phone

051that's why this is frustrating it's out of hand yeah because we are making so many exceptions to all these kids and then the ones that get caught I see their parents online complaining about it and they ended up getting away with it so I hope when this is in place that there are no exceptions because it needs to be followed like the rest of our rules yeah and I think that's that's prob that's why we want to really have it as a universal instead of just reacting to C group groups because again then we can say to a parent this is a rule for everyone it does not matter that cannot change I mean we try to do that now the only thing that I say there is caveat to is students who have 504s

052and IPS we have students who are diabetic who need their phones for monitoring um Yonder has pouches that are Velcro so that would really be the only time that that would be an exception to the rule but otherwise because it's a tier one intervention to that there would be no question at that point good questions because this will be a hot button in the community sure yeah we've had a group of parents I'm going to throw in and we've had we've had parents so I had a I have those coffee talks every once in a while and I had a group of parents kind of talk to me at that and said we just do not want cell phones like this is killing our kids in the schools and this then a group of parents

053were on our parent teacher discipline advisory committee they also were asking can you do something about the cell phones um so these we've also then I've people on that committee have heard we were looking into this I've been getting emails from them saying when you need parents to step up and support you on this we're ready so we will have some people that will support us but there will be a hot topic for Community for sure and is this only going to be at the middle school yeah for for now for now is to roll it down to if it's needed yeah are they even allowed to have phones at all elementary or primary when we did the committee to update the handbook the elementary and primary are saying absolutely no so it's they cannot

054have them at all in the building in the building yeah so they have like if you have it because you need to track your kid go home it's in their backpack so you cannot on out anything like that so for this contract is it like we just we just buy the product or we buying a service in addition to the product I think we're just we just pay we buy the product and we're buying uh in the initial year there's a transition where they help us get transitioned in I think they have somebody on site day one and then after that it's just buying product Al you can please what's the is it just a product or is a product and service it you are purchasing the equipment outright um so it is it is

055an outright purchase and you you own the a mocking basis in the pouches okay and then yeah with with that you do get the customer service and support and essentially you are you are buying into becoming a Yonder partner and um we're going to be there with you throughout this year the following years to come as well and there's no there's no subscription fee or anything like that okay you'd only you know if you need to buy new pouches that's the only thing that you'd have to do any other questions we don't have any action on this yet but how hard is it to buy a y thing ah how hard is it to buy if I was a kid or parent well we we do have a home use uh like cell blocking like

056box if if people want to use a Yonder related things at home because we get a lot of requests to our website from uh people who don't really look like teachers pretending to be teachers um but it's it's a very powerful magnet it's similar to um the security tags on clo at department stores it has happened a few times where students have gone on Alibaba or whatever and found the strong enough magnet every time it's been discovered pretty quickly um the other piece that we've heard those few times that that has happened occasionally the magnet is strong enough that it opens the pouch it also interferes with the cell phone and other electronic devices and has ruined um a few students phones whove tried to you know buy their own magnet fortunately ours is proprietary

057and you know doesn't have any issues like that so will we be liable then if anything like that happened it's a first I heard of that so Matt can you ask if it we be liable would we be liable in a situation like that if a student bought their own magnet if the student purchases an incredibly powerful magnet and decides to put it near their phone I it's I think that's the beauty of the Yonder program is that they do have their phone on their person they can do with it whatever they want you know the the pouch does have kind of a nice protective case it helps if they do drop their phone or something but again they're responsible for it so they can deal with it what they'd like but you know Matt

058my question is more do the Yonder magnet could it possibly C has it ever caused damage to cell phones has the Yonder magnet itself ever caused damage to cell phones no it has not and like I said so you know I travel with it on like next to my laptop and my phone I've been doing it for seven years and have not had any issues like that um and again that that's again more of a cautionary tale that we like to you know remind students if they are trying to do something that's not necessarily following the policy but we have not had any issues with it any other questions awesome thank you Alex thank you Alex we'll uh this will come back up this will be back on later in the agenda for an action

059item that we can talk about that point um I'm going to go ahead and uh take the next one uh board policy update first reading uh press policy 114 I met with the policy committee um we talked through a few things but uh no major changes and I've highlighted all the changes at the top of the page this just be for first reading a motion if we could get that motion Sor motion by Lauren second by Gary uh oh this is a voice vote okay all in favor hi any n okay I just have highlighted summer office hours for you that's uh nothing different than we've done the last couple years last three or four years um 8th grade graduation we've been talking about that May 23rd 700 p.m. um we floated around the uh

060sign up sheet for who you want to hand out to and uh we're supposed to be at 6:15 correct 6:15 would be a good time to be here 6:30 615 6:30 would be fine all right can I just you want me just go ahead and keep leading it all right other action items um we have summer black top and concrete repair projects these are minor uh but I one's 9,000 one I think is 17 I just wanted you to be aware that we're doing these but we've just been trying to keep up this was also ran through the building grounds committee we're just trying to keep up with these projects uh so so we don't have to do any major changes so if I could get any any questions on that if not a motion

061to approve the black top and concrete repairs motion Doug second and Gary second yes yes yes yes yes and then the next item is uh just a second reading of illustrative math adoption uh curriculum adoption second reading uh we had this uh last month approved on first reading there's been no changes since that time so if we can get a motion to approve the second reading of luster of math Ash second Vivian second yes yes yes yes yes all right the next item is the Yonder implementation and you'll see the contract in there and exhibit 18 any questions on that I'm turning to it myself right now go ahead FS anywhere USS we are not we're not so we uh 750 pouches covers our entire student body we have 100 as extras um that's built

062in we'll see how many I feel like that's a lot of extras but um if we if they don't use them then we'll be able to roll them in next year uh and then we have the one-day implementation and the shipping charges so it's a it's a heavy expense um and I'll be honest Josh Josh knows this I was skeptical at first and I wanted to just implement the bags for kids that are showing uh kids are having trouble following the initial rules and so it kind of as a tier two intervention the more I talked with Yonder uh and and Josh as well that that's just not a good solution and still it's this constant having to talk to kids about their phones and it's just a constant struggle so I I from anybody

063I've talked to and it hasn't been many because there's not many schools doing it but even just Friday I talked to uh the super at Woodland because they'd implemented it this year and I said any regrets are you doing it next year he goes we' love it and we're doing it again I said okay I said I don't need to go any further then but uh um I think anything they learned this year we can learn from them and but uh but he was he was pretty uh adamant that it's been a good thing for them so so I would recommend it but need a motion to to approve the contract motion second Vivian and Doug yes yes yes Bob can I ask a question for you yes so do we have to do anything

064with board policy with this we're going to change the uh cell phone policy we we're going to bring that tonight but we'll we'll do that with the handbook Vivan I love Vivian is always on top of that that's good soon yep it's going to be changed with the handbook all right thank you okay so item D is I'm going to read the approval and then I have Tim King from King financials here if you have any questions but uh this is in pertaining to the money that we are planning to borrow for the projects that we've approved through verigy and I also want to include I I ran this through finance committee um we have that those projects are $4.1 million you notice that we're asking to borrow million um we have a project that

065is going to be presented to you after this if this is approved uh Mr mcau is going to present a project that is consider it's a Safety project that we have right now that we think is important it's our communication systems in the building are are out are old and they're um hard to repair expensive to repair and it's time to redo all of it so that's about a half million dollar project and we consider that a safety issue we have some other safety projects including a door loock uh doorlock improvements in all three buildings um that we will we are working on as well and in total the safety we we do have a safety Grant we're applying for right now we won't know until November if we get that and that'll be a

066half million dollars I would say total we are in the safety improvements we are probably $800 to $900,000 um we're hoping to secure a grant uh but if we don't secure the grant we still need to get these projects done at some point so we thought while we're doing the debt certificate let's roll these projects in we can assure our community we're going to get all these projects done that are safety issues in our school and along with the projects in ver so the uh the last estimate and this is an estimate because we don't have final rates yet but at at $5 million we're at about 46 $50,000 a year payment 15 years for phase one of this projects and uh that can be done through our local funds and uh our current uh

067fund balances um we can we can manage this right now so um there's no tax increase we're not going to the voters for anything on this so that's an explanation I'm going to read the approval and then if you have any questions I have Tim here to to answer any questions so approve a resolution authorizing and providing for the installment purchase agreement for the purpose of paying the cost of purchasing real or personal property or both in and for school district number 38 Lake County Illinois and for the issue of not to exceed $5 million in general obligation debt certificates limited tax series 2024 of said School District evidencing the rights to payment under the set agreement providing for the security for and means of payment under said agreement of said certificates and authorizing the

068sale of said certificates to the purchaser thereof is there are there any questions on this that I can help you with I have a question yeah what is a call provision what was that again what is a call provision call provision both are identical 15E repayments have two different options very good so yeah I uh in talking with Bob over this whole issue uh for the last number of months six months or so I know that you potentially have another uh wanting to do more down the road kind of thing and so whenever we go to the public market so back in 2016 when we first worked with the district and the debt certificates you just repaid uh those were sold directly to your local bank uh not through a public process and uh it

069was only 800,000 it was only eight years they were able to handle that and that worked out well well for the district because then they were what we call immediately callable like your home mortgage you can go in the next day and pay it off if you want to if you got the money that's what an immediate call is a call provision is how fast can you change what's out there already so in the public market whenever we go into to public investors the the norm is somewhere between eight and 10 years before you can touch it once it's sold uh you can pay a little bit more if you want a shorter provision essentially and so that's what I put in here was because knowing that you might want to go back into The

070Market within five years uh it might be that you want to go ahead and have that fiveyear call provision uh the other complex thing in our business is when you go to the public market they like these Securities to be regularly tradable so we put an artificial interest rate on them uh right now the market is looking at 5% interest rates so all of these will look like they're 5% which will generate premium because the uh the actual rate that you will be at is around 4.3 so so the par will actually be less than $5 million what we sell but there's going to be a premium paid to get you a full $5 million that you want right um and so uh because that has that 5% coupon on there it's very likely in

071five years interest rates won't have gone up to 5% that you could refinance in five years for lower rates even if you don't add any new money to that that's why there is a essentially a higher interest rate for five years uh because buyers want that protection to be able to know we're going to get this rate to offset that so otherwise but but in my mind it could be very valuable to you to have that five-year call both either for refinancing and lowering payments after that or also to be able to restructure and fit in new money easier uh down the road so so at that higher like $110,000 a year does that just go to our balance that's basically because of a higher interest rate so it's paying a little bit more interest

07210 grand more in interest a year the higher the interest ratees about 20 basis points 210% higher effectively for those years okay was the so the 460 that he just mentioned essentially 460 a year for an 8-year call or 470 roughly for a fiveyear call no what would the payment have been without the call didn't even run that didn't even run that what was V's estimate on our next not amount but the I on the timing there's nothing on the phase two that I think has to be done right away but what was they would like if we they want to do like next year they would want to do it right away I we're not doing it right away if we went out how far oh okay when were you thinking I me I

073thought three to five that's why yeah if we could call it in three to five uh I think if we call it in five we'd probably be okay then what is the cap before we need to go to the public for funding it would just be if we determine we don't have the regular the funds balances to manage the payment and I'm also hopeful I don't know if you can speak on this Tim I've been following the some legislation and um I've told them at the state to use us as an example of somebody who would benefit but uh the uh there's legislation that they're pushing that might allow us in a tax Capa County to be able to start Lev in health Life Safety fund which we have this health Life Safety fund but

074we don't put any money in it because it doesn't help us uh if you're non- tax capped if you're non- tax capped like I was in my prior District anything any projects we have that are considered Health life safety with new roofs air conditioning all those are Health life safety items that have to get done you can Levy to get those projects done without going to the voters for a referendum if that actually we get caught with that because we can't we can only raise our Levy a certain amount and uh so we can't do that here but there's legislation now that they're really trying to push to allow us to do that which would s we would be able to do these projects in the next 10 years without having to do a referendum

075because we're not building any new buildings or anything so that's what I'm kind of like I feel like we we've set ourselves up to do phase one of this project it could be 5 years before we feel like we even need need to do phase two I know ver wants to roll right back into it but I don't think there's anything on that list that we have to do right away so phase two consider yeah yeah would we be able do you feel like I know we be able to fund it with our with our oh I see yeah uh I think it'll challenging to do all of what they want to do in phase two that would be challenging so then do we need to see what this looks like without a call because

076if we're not going to be able to fund it through this in five years or so I was thinking that we could call it in five so I I was thinking tell if I'm off on this time but I was thinking that uh if whenever we decide to do phase two and we said we this is really important we do this work it's going to cost $5 million again um we're going to have to do a referendum so I was thinking we would do a referendum to not only do phase two but to call this one and get that covered so we only have the one debt would that is that what we talked about Tim sure so we have to call it before we can pay it off we can't pay it off early

077you can do what you can do what's called an advanced refunding where you fund an escrow that makes the payments until the call date unfortunately five years six years ago now when they redid the tax code in 2018 um there used to be a provision where you could do one Advanced refunding tax exempt that they got rid of that so if we do anything before the call date you have to issue taxable higher rate interest rate bonds to do it so that call Provisions became a lot more valuable shorter call Provisions became a lot more valuable when that legislation took so would would we be better off doing a shorter call than five we can certainly test the market okay and see if it's accepted five kind of the underwriters generally tell me about five

078is the minimum they like to go but but uh it just but uh it just reduces the number of interested buyers you know two years ago we wouldn't be having this conversation your local bank would have stepped right up we already checked with the local bank on this one but right now the last year and a quarter the the banking environment you know has completely flipped with interest rates getting high and banks have just exited buying fixed income stuff right now because they're scared and they need liquidity and uh and so they wanted a much higher interest rate right now to take this down for you than what we can get going to the public market um I say much higher they wanted like 4.95 if you really wanted to thought that this was going

079to get refinanced in the next three years or put into a referendum that actually might not be the worst thing to do and forget the public offering uh we just kind of passed on that a week ago and started down this road to to go get a get the rating with standard and buy insurance and the whole bit we've got things lined up but we probably could call a halt to that process quickly if if that were more important I mean if you if you know we're going to have to go to a referendum I just I mean we need to do what's best for this now if we're because at some point phase two obviously is going to take some point it's probably going to be 30% more if we wait five years than

080it is now so and you're in a great position when you got these other bonds that have been levied from 20 years ago they're going to be paying off that is the ideal time to dovetail a new referendum in place where you're not talking in tax rate increase to your we missed that boat at least you say it just it dropped off some it has totally gone yet did drop off quite a bit our last Levy it dropped yeah I guess we have another it's still yeah zero next year yeah and uh so there still is a payment if you wanted to try and do something this November uh or even next fr possibly before before the public is totally used to having a zero Bond Levy uh but even so may maybe it isn't

081that hard to repass one when they already know yeah sure enough our rate did come down for the last two years and can we get a little bit of it back the farther that gets in the rearview mirror the harder it's probably going to be to to get it back in place yeah I think it's G to be it's going to be a struggle to pass a referendum period so yeah and I just uh man the phase two of that bery I just don't I'm not I'm just don't I can't even commit to like I know they would like to do it now but I I feel like I look at those projects and I nothing seems that urgent to me yet so I also don't want us to get in a situation where we're

082repairing stuff so much that we wish we would have done it but no these projects we're doing now are kind of urgent but uh not kind of they are urgent we have you know have leaks in the roofs and those are urgent but uh yeah I wish I could say that do you do you approach the referendum any differently having this your approach to the public when you say we took five million three years ago yeah I think it'd be part of our selling point hey we tried to do this we doing it on we're making payments on our own here without going to you uh but now we can't do that any longer you know I think we'd have a good the fact that we've let their rate drop this year and we're trying

083to maintain these buildings why you know with without going to taxpayers I think showing us some Goodwill I hope they remember it you know I think uh so I I just want to clarify so if we were to do this as passed and we go we get it to where we can call in five years if that's a year where we decide that we got to do some more work on these buildings what's that look like that process look like if we want to call these and do a referendum on uh another project say we had another $10 million project we want to pull them together ABS I mean your option obviously would be to not do the referendum to another debt certificate we would refinance the remaining balance uh the remaining 10 years worth

084that's it's out there and issue the new 10 million and go out potentially 20 or 25 years to try and keep the payment from going up too much so there chance depending on the project you could just continue with we try we could see what I mean you'll obviously you'll have the option we'll look at where would payments be at that time how much more than 460,000 would it be and and then you can make that determination whether you can manage it out of your operating funds and if not yeah then the option is to go to the to the voters and ask for some or all of it at that point and uh you know you have a a big enough assessed valuation that I think what every you would want to do spread

085out over 15 to 20 years would not be a huge tax increase certainly it's not going to get you back up to where you were yeah a year ago um and so then it's just a matter of does you know in our experience you know um for the last 30 years uh there's two types of of different referenda right either your building bonds or an operating rate increase and nobody likes permanent operating rate increases those are about 15 20% pass rate in Illinois building Bond referend are real close to 50% for the last 30 years it it really comes down to every individual Community is different every Community do they like the projects how well do you do in in effectively marketing you know that hey the needs here's what it is we want to

086keep our schools up to far um it's no fun but generally it's only about a three or four month process too we try and assist you with that and and kind of giving a boilerplate message and boilerplate uh process process to get through that when you do go to the public I know it sounds daunting and every school board hates to to talk about it but we've been pretty successful over the last five years especially and in passing referenda uh but every Community is different so it's conversation for another night yeah I if we do the fiveyear get a referendum in three years do we have to sit on the money for two years in the bank or would they not even would it would not even be eligible to referendum that if you can't

087pay it off right away when you pass a referendum The Authority lasts for five years to get bonds issued and you can do multiple issues over that time so if you pass the referendum you could immediately go issue the 10 million and get the payments in place the new 10 million and then wait two years and refinance these and put those on the taxpayers at that time and we could make sure to plan for that so the overall rate does not get impacted so you'd get a new one we yeah we'd wait till year five to refinance this at least I believe I would you're wait till year five to refinance this portion of it but you could get the new money piece for the new projects right away when it's passed and get going

088on construction so if you got the referendum you would fold this into the referendum sure okay pass it for 15 whatever the total number is exactly that would that would include it would instead of just being building bonds or building proceeds in the description it also include the refunding of this existing obligation as one of the purposes but then do we sit with that money in the bank for those two extra years well you wouldn't issue the full 15 you'd just be issuing the 10 million of new projects and start spending that and doing the new part and then we'd wait for two more years come back with another $5 million issue less than five million of course at that time you paid it down for five years but whatever is remain are they only

089be ta they'd only be taxed on the first time so chances chances are well what we would do at the time of running the referendum is we'd run numbers assuming it's going to all happen and and you know here's the guess it's going to be a quarter or 25 cents or 10 cents whatever the number is and and tell the public that then when we do the first 10 million issue we make that first Year's payment to come out to what exactly what you told the public is 25 cents 20 cents whatever it is we make that payment to match and leave room down the road to fit in the refunding we don't have to do level repayments this is the simplistic way of just saying when you're going to be paying for it you

090like to be able to budget 460 year 470 year reality is you could start out with just $200,000 payments for a few years and then bump them up higher if you want to down the road kind of thing there's no it is not a requirement that there be level payments or and even in the case of if you were to do the the fiveyear call now or even if you did the eight-year call now but then two years you decide to do the the vary project and you want to layer this in you could just layer it in with this payment plus some interest on top only until these are paid down and then put all the principal out in years 16 through 20 so so it's I so I think if we do five

091a call at five I think we're in pretty good shape to make a decision the next three years what we want to do is my I think after hearing what you're saying there adds more flexibility yeah and I don't think at the end of the day it will end up I think it's unlikely it'll actually cost you this money this is what it would be if you held it all 15 years the reality is in five years hopefully interest rates finally mitigate and come back down a little bit if inflation gets tamed within the next five years and it you can actually we can get back to somewhat lower rates where we've been used to for the last 20 years and and possibly see some interest rate savings and payments down okay doesn't look like

092that today but hopefully hopefully it gets there any other questions if we're ready we take a motion all right ready you want me to read the whole thing I I read it once so we're good all right we're good with that yep all right so a motion on item D B has run motion second Lauren Doug yes yes yes okay item C is um I'm going to have Mr McCully get up he's going to be presenting on this topic this is uh related to this last funding uh we put it after that in case the funding didn't pass uh but part of the five million that we're planning to uh borrow here is includes this project to improve our communication systems in all three buildings all right so one of the things that um we

093were looking at with the safety Grant and then what we're looking at with the project is the PA system in all three schools um when I got here one of the biggest complaints that I was getting from staff was when they're in the gym in the cafeteria they couldn't hear announcements with the Curren system that we have um we've tried to do some fixes we put some Band-Aids on it one of those fixes on the wall over to my right your left is the alertus system the issue with that is that's two separate systems that are going on at the same time that who's ever initiating the emergency not only has to do the alertus but they're on the PA system and then we've had um several apps that we've used for emergency situations right

094now we're using stop it the one that the Lake County Roe provides so we do have some mitigation these large areas like the gyms the cafeterias the music rooms the band rooms um choir but there's still places that have a lot of students that can't hear what's going on in case of emergency we've also had some limitations at the middle school with the Bell uh schedules right now we have a total of eight Bell schedules that we can use on the system but we have more than eight between the Wednesday advisory and fifth grade sixth grade seventh grade eighth grade all have their own and then they have their own or the release and then we have teachers who teach multiple grades so they're hearing Bells all day and trying to figure out wait a

095minute am I on the right Bell the other thing with that is the PA systems is the clocks so if they don't have a Simplex clock for the system because we haven't been replacing them because they've been anywhere from $300 to $400 a clock to replace or to fix not replace we've been replacing with $20 clocks approximately been buying from Amazon so now there is a thing in the district called Big Hollow time where every classroom has a different time the buildings are all at three different times so we're trying to fix these are the reasons that we're looking at the mass communication system we want to have every school on the same time we want to be able to put the bells where we need to put the bells and we want to be

096able to communicate to staff and students and the hit of a button so we've or I've been looking at these vendors for a long time I know Mr Golden I have been going back and forth on whether we're you know this is the right time to do the project but we're at that point where it's the right time um we've had several walkthroughs in the past just to get ideas of what this was going to cost and that's where we kind of came up with the idea that it was going to be about $500,000 give or take depending on which direction we went um this year alone I spoke to every single vendor at the school board convention that had anything to do with Pas and clocks um unfortunately in November that resulted in zero

097um zero consultation zero walkthroughs Simplex which is our current system didn't even call me back which I you know after talking with Derek and others not surprised but it's disappointing so then I just started doing internet searches and I was cold calling people trying to find somebody to come in um this resulted in four walkthroughs and three proposals uh one proposal was not put in front of you today because the cost was over a million dollars U so we didn't do that one and the fourth vendor or the other vendor that we had the walk through didn't do a proposal they changed salespeople and despite multiple tries to get them to get their proposal in I couldn't get it um we had another conference that had a bunch of it was an IT conference we

098had more people we had one more walkth through and I got a cold call after that and did another walkth through but that proposal is pending so right now I have three proposals in packet that we take a look at here's the list of walkthroughs is in the the packages so you can see that you know we did have as many people as we could get in uh the three proposals that we had are 1.2 million 4 60,000 and 530,000 one of those proposals that we have um we had to eliminate because they don't have prevailing wage and they don't really have a way for us to for their company to do prevailing wage um and talking about it it was it was a very small company and it was similar to kind of almost

099a oneman shop so trying to work through that we we just weren't able to to we have two products that um we're looking at so that's the next two slides are this one the companies called vcom their um signs you can see have that similar technology that we have out in the front there on Nipper sync on the signs um the 20-in clocks would go into the classrooms those are the top left ones those can be taken over and we can have um words put on on the screen or a scroller on there in case of emergency or um fire tornado anything can be can be used there uh we don't really have limitations on the type of words that we can put up we do have limitation on colors we have hallway speakers this

100is two-way side um and then there's a large area speaker which is just a bigger bigger sign you can see what those announcements or what that would scroll through and then the bullhorn for the gyms and Outdoors the other system rather than being that um LED dots that we have out and a Nipper sync there this is an actual um it's actual screen we've unlimited ways of customizing this the software is just like having a software on your computer you have your computer screen up in the classroom with a speaker out in the hallways in our large areas we still have the um the horn one of the benefits to to this is in an emergency we can program every single classroom to have their Escape Routes or what they're supposed to do in in

101analice situation we' have that program at the hit of a button both products um this is my next slide you know both products that I think are great both products I've had great reviews from other schools um you know we were looking into it I actually had a friend of mine who works IT director at North Chicago called me and went over the system that's what they have he he loves it um the algo the difference between them is you know we have the the digital screen that we can completely customize versus the scrolling screen it's a little more expensive for the customizable sign but we got a lot more options for long-term use and I think as far as like long-term output or out look of replacement I think that one's going to last

102us a little bit longer but again it is a little more expensive um I'm happy though that both options again come well recommended and do what we need to do and solve our our problems that we that we face right now our recommendation is to go with the the digital screen in every classroom again just kind of thinking future proof I mean I think the the difference in in funds is going to it's going to be offset by the the fact that we have a system that's going to look more modern look newer and give us more options um for that extra extra amount um we also really need that ability to customize that bell schedule we're going to be able to customize it to the point where I can have every classroom on their

103own bell schedule based on grade or what they teach so a days and B days for um specials they're not going to have bells going constantly they're going to have their schedule so I think that's going to be a big help um at the elementary and the primary you know when you walk across that cafeteria you're not changing time zones you know it's the same time in both buildings right now I think they're about 3 minutes apart and it's something that you know the front office secretaries have to remember each month to reset the clock because one clock moves faster than the other so if they're not resending and sinking at the same time then we get that issue where the times um times ch change so we do have um an option that we

104are looking at with the spp the cops Grant of our recommendation right now is to move forward with two schools try to get those in over the summer um and then have a third school which cost wise we would look at the least expensive just because the least expensive is what's going to fit into the grant um um having that done over the winter and then having the full system connected over a winter break um this way we' be able to to to save the funds about 50 $160,000 for the school um to be done we'd be able to try and fund that with the grant if we can't fund that with the grant we were going to have to look for other other options on on funding right now believe that's that's correct Mr

105Gold right yeah yeah if it doesn't we definitely want to get all three schools done it we're trying to utilize grant money if we can get it and we have 150,000 in the S the school violence prevention grant that we can use if we we won't find out if we get the grant till November but uh since uh yeah if we were to push the school to do the project over winter break then if we get the grant we're going to use the grant funds if we don't get the grant uh we will use funds that we are borrowing here uh to cover it so NE way is it supplanting so that's that's all I have if you have any questions you got two questions two questions please two questions it's all good does this

106include installation or is this Hardware this is hardware and installation and then can you see uh have you measured and toen a look to see if you can see that like clock from the classroom back so I think the next step with it is to take yeah it is us to do it take that 15 screen shrink down the time to8 in is still GNA be usable I think that's something that we can do it's uh the screen itself is the size of our staff laptops so that's something that uh team and I can take a look during early release Here on Friday and go into the different classroom shapes and and see it's much cooler but yeah just make sure it's still usable the whole point is to have clock that they can see

107oh no I totally totally understand that the other benefit and we'll test this out too is I know that when we had our our meetings with the different grade levels at the primary and the elementary school they were wanting to make sure that we could have an analog clock which we'd be able to do with the the Valk we could put an analog looking clock on instead of just the digital so that they can also learn to read the clock and tell time other questions thank you okay we need a motion to approve the installation of a new building wide communication system in all three schools motion second ashary yes yes yes yes yes yes the rest of these are easy Joe I promise yeah yeah go ahead I'll let you take them here uh
