001if you do speak Jimmy good pastor Joe thank you te Jimmy we ready yeah he's everybody all right we move back into Open Session can everyone please stand for the pledge I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the repu for it stands does anybody have anything to add to the agenda can I please have a motion to approve the agenda motion second Ash Benn yeser yes Dinger yes Lions yes P yes yes uh public comments we do have one uh Mariana longino I just like would like to remind you we can't respond to anything that you say but we appreciate you coming here tonight and voicing your opinion okay go ahead hold on Mariana hold on I can't hear you hello my name is Marino and I will

002be talking about what does it feel like to be black in a mostly white school being black at Big Hollow I feel weird when kids stare at me because I'm Different sometimes the teachers Overlook me in class and forget to call me or pick me for things like contest or special projects or student groups I missed out on the opportunity to show case my talents and express how smart I am Some kids say hopeful things like you're not even that smart because I'm black during one assignment during this in the Civil War One classmate told me that I pick cotton being treated differently by my teachers and my classmates because I am black makes me feel sad and like I don't belong here I have some suggestions that the bollow administration can do the help

003black kids should have a chance to meet up with the principal and tell them about the problems we have Big Hollow should have cameras inside their classrooms to hear when the students are saying mean things Big Hollow should have should hire more black teachers I would be very happy to see more black teachers because they would be able to connect with me and understand us research shows that a black teacher does a lot of good for all students but especially minority students according to the booking Institute black students who have black teachers by third grade are 7% more likely to graduate for high school 133% more likely to enroll in college the NAA P CP notes on their website the black teachers have the capacity to reduce implicit and explicit bias from the black students

004in addition to other students of color and serve as Role Models black teachers can provide culturally respon responsive instructions and support as well as emotional connections to students most importantly black teachers Advocate and deeply relate relatable to perspective and naturally maintain high expectations for black students thank you for this opportunity to let me talk thank you thank you thank you thank [Applause] you yeah go ahead that was my fault I forgot you do that all right do we have any more public comments no thank you academic Spotlight Mr Gold all right first I'm going to let Miss Janice come on up uh she's going to talk about an exciting project uh that the primary school did and so I'll let her take the reins from here M Janice if you just speak into the mic

005okay so this this is our second year with this project um and it is a group project with Big Hollow primary and also Grant Community High School so it starts with Grant High School students in Mr Jeff Austin's drawing classes they created templates their task was to create a monster template from there okay from there uh we take those templates back to our preschool classrooms and each of the three Preschool teachers reads this story it's called are you you my monster they read the story to the students and then the students select there's the story in case you want to read it uh and then the sto the students select the shape for their monster so here you see in the pictures our students selecting their monster and then they decorate them they color them

006they add all the detail I collect those and bring them to another gr High School teacher Mrs Patricia cian and her students turn those Paper Monsters into three dimensional felt stuffed animal monsters it's amazing to see and you can see the side by side there and then once they have created the monsters the grand students take a field trip to Big Hall primary for some of the students they're returning they were big Hall students some went to either Fox Lake or Gavin or Lake Villa and they deliver the monster to their prek students so they get to meet the student that Drew the monster and our students get to meet the student who made their monster into a reality and they stay to play for about an hour so I have a couple of friends

007here that brought their stuffies with maybe you can walk up there and show them do you want to go show the grown-ups this is the best [Laughter] part you can click through some of the pictures I wish you could see all 70 of the students uh obviously ly the cold weather kept many of them away but there are pictures to show you of some of the other monsters and we do have plans to expand this just one more level I've been talking to Mrs caban and looking for an English teacher at Grant that would like to have Grant students come and talk to our prek students and write a story using their monster and their ideas but the high school's writing so that's where we'd like to take it next year that'll be great and

008there's the thank you cards our students and teachers made um very nice a wonderful project thank you Miss Boyd and Mrs Hatfield Mrs lck wasn't able to come tonight thank you so much appreciate it nice colorset I think we're going to have a hard time getting these little guys out out of here that's okay you stay as long as you want thinking about it George love p ps very nice picture you draw very well good job very cool oh I love this C BL you sure decorated them really nice it's great great job and I should mention the teacher that's here is a former Big Hollow student as well so that's good to see okay our next uh student Spotlight tonight is uh something we it's a follow-up from last month's meeting we're really looking

009forward to it um I'm gonna turn it over to Mr Cornwell or Mrs Williams how however you want to start this all right so as we introduced last uh month we have some students that have been doing some research on different solutions to the problem of bullying uh they've done some research on what other schools are doing and we've also met with them a number of times to talk about some of the things that we have in place and so they have some new ideas as well as some ways that we can um improve and better uh use the the resources that we have so I'm going to turn it over to them so please make sure you speak into the mic okay so we can hear you good so hi everyone my name is

010uh Annabelle and here we have Ben uh Jaden Jonathan and Sophie um and we're gonna talk about our bullying solutions that we'd like to implement here at Big Hollow so so a recap of last time we were here in December we presented how our bullying project developed in the importance of finding solutions for bullying as it is impacts many of us here at Big Hollow we presented our ideas to the solution of Mr Gold and Mr Cornwell we now we would like to present to you the ones would like to be begin implanting uh so what we're GNA discuss uh in this presentation uh promoting safe to help uh dig incident report form improving Second Step lessons rebranding safety per F uh creating pure groups so first uh we were going to talk about safe

011to help so the app that we have kind of advertised here at our school like at in our posters and in the announcements um it's basically an app where teens and students can go on it guides them to solutions for buling and depression or anything they may be going through they link various helplines such as 844 for Safe Illinois they provide videos about social and emotional learning the app provides real-time support with mental health professionals and the app educate students on the effects of bullying some improvements that we can make at Big Hollow include the app should be better advertised at our school for example incorporating it into the second step and class meetings to help students understand what the app is and how it can help them educate staff about how the app works

012and describe and show all of the features of the app look into our own Big Hollow app on safe to help okay uh so our current digital reperform can be found on a teachers classrooms but not many uh not many students know this this report form can be used to report anything that just buing the questions aren't as effective or impactful as they could be some improvements are the form should be better advertised and promoted at a school for example it could be like promoted in um um the Royal news it could be revamped revamp the form to make it more meaningful use help help administrator create questions that are uh significally related to specifically related to bullying and gather more information about the situation anyone can use it by Sensers victims um Etc and

013gives students input into solutions they would like um improving second oh um so second step is a social emotional learning lessons taught on Wednesdays first thing in the morning and the topics that they cover are things like bullying harassment Online safety and variety of other topics and they last about 30 minutes each morning and then um we'll also be covering like class meetings which are um there in each class they're a different day so like on Mondays you could have in social studies and so on and so forth and and they last about 10 to 15 minutes so ways that we can improve these programs is to make them more meaningful for students and selecting topics that are more relatable to our lives and then um also having students Revis Second Step lessons and class

014meetings in advance to make sure to make them more engaging um and then giving students an opportunity provide feedback on second step and class meeting lessons number four would be there uh solution that we'd like to begin improv uh implementing at Big Hollow rebranding safety pair of professionals um the current way that we can that we are doing this is we have many people to help with these situations like for example The Bullying but we don't utilize all of our resources for example safety coordinators safety par professionals administrators social workers and psychologists and some improvements we can make in these areas would be create a point person person that handles all bullying situations streamline information received from dig digital Report Form teacher concerns Etc triage and assess the situations as they arise and ensure students

015receive appropriate help I'd also like to note that we should begin communicating the bully and the victim's thoughts to each other so that we can more easily streamline a way of not punishment but engaging the two people so that we can work work an issue out instead of just it being a punishment number five starting a group so our vision students from all grades 5 through eight would join this group to create a positive climate at Big Hollow and create a safe space for students in all grades promote um promote promoting the importance of mental health is just one of the of many things reinforcing the solutions developed from this project by our peers build school spirit from to form closer bonds learn new and create ways to handle bowling have high schoolers come come

016to school as buddies host a weekly raffle to encourage positive behavior and giving back to the community cleaning up the environment and gardens around the school is one thing we could Implement to help give back to the community these are some quotes that we found uh to be empowering such as insecure people only Eclipse your son because they're jealous of the daylight and tired of their Dark starless Nights if you turn and face the other way when someone is being bullied you might as well be the bully too make your imperfections your personality blowing out someone else's candle doesn't make your shine any brighter if people are trying to bring you down it don't only means that they that you are above them you will never reach Higher Ground if you're always pushing others down

017ideas and research are done by Miss Williams third period thanks we hope that this finds you well and the rest of your day is great thank you thank you can you guys stay right there you guys if you guys would stay right up there that'd be great Miss Williams would you come on up as well she doesn't like to be in the attention I don't think but Miss Williams helped organize the project with the kids and again I just want to say that um I was just very impressed with how you all handled this topic over the past month and Mr cormel and I appreciate your passion uh and your desire to have student voice in the solutions right um I would say over the past 15 years the rise of social media and 247

018access to communication has really elevated bullying in in Youth and uh um as shown in your pres presentation we have many things in place already but most of the interventions you've shared have have only been in place for less than five years so it's it's a been a an issue that has increased over the last five years for us your input though on these Solutions on not only the not only new Solutions but uh how to improve our current practices is really essential and it was excellent how you presented that in your presentation so I'm going to summarize what you said I I read through your presentation before the meeting tonight and I want to summarize these uh first you said the safe toel application is a good one but we need better more consistent

019promotion of that and I think that your promotion as students is going to really help that and then you said that the digital reporting form is a good one but it could be revised and also needs to be promoted more and I think you've already made a revision i' I read it today so as a group you've already revised that form for us that's your voice in that form and and then you're also going to be part of the solution to help promote that to kids right so that is an excellent change and the second step and the class meetings um as you know both these tools are utilized by our staff to build in time to have these conversations that are pretty important and uh I too have witnessed what you stated sometimes there's

020not a student engagement in those meetings so I think having having our students involved in the creation of the lessons is going to be very impactful so I encourage you and we support you in continuing that or to starting that um rebranding the safety pair professionals that actually is the one idea I think that we can gain the most traction with and I really liked how you articulated it in your presentation um as you know we we've added three safety professionals to this building the past two years and they we've seen many many benefits of having these individuals um as you were doing your presentations in the classes and Mr cormell and I were sitting in listening to your presentations this is one thing that I thought of as well is that it how important

021it' be to have one person to be the point of contact we have you listed them off we have Administration we've got social worker psychologists we've got safety PA professionals we've got all these people that are here to help and uh but to have a person that's a point of contact to help triage some of the issues that come through is going to be great and that came from you and we really appreciate it I think we will definitely be able to do that and then lastly the student group idea I think is something that I would strongly encourage you to push and I think you need to push Mrs Williams to be your sponsor and uh we will uh we will fully support you the entire way with that so I hope that this

022project has been impactful for each of you I can tell you've had passion with it it I know some of you have shared how you've been bullied and some of you have shared how you've been the bully and I know it's been this has been impactful for you and I appreciate you sharing your own experiences but as your superintendent I can tell you that we will fully support you on these five initiatives that you guys stated and we look forward to teaming up with you all right thank you so much I do I do want to ask before you walk down before you sit down if any board members would like to share anything um I told you guys last month I thought this was great this has been an issue over this board for

023the past five years like Mr Gold just said um and to have adults trying to fix kids' problems doesn't always work you guys came up with a new way um and I think us speaking for the board we're all very part of you proud of you for doing that I just had one question going through your presentation like you you said before adults have come up with these topics during the class presentations what are some of the things that you guys talk to other kids about that aren't being covered that you want covered I think as a board it's important for us to hear that to make sure that we're providing the administration with enough resources to try to combat those different things that you guys come up with so that's what I was interested

024to hear it's a good question so we've um personally seen and we've talked to our teachers about it but um um we know that you guys are trying like we said um the safe to help it it just needs to be pushed a little farther if you know what I mean like advertise more and stuff any topics you want us to teach yeah any what about topics during like the different yeah I I was getting that St okay sorry um uh so in the class meetings I feel like we should that would be a very good place for us to advertise the safe toel app but also at the same time we could be teaching the problems that we see being reported you know what I mean like if that's available of any sort obviously

025it needs to be confidential but I want to relate it back to what's actually happening and so that students are more engaged and obviously we can make it fun using games or anything like that but I feel like that would be very beneficial so as incidents are being reported and we see uh evidence of certain issues that we turn that around and provide teaching and support on how to deal with those issues okay very good that's a great idea very good will you be uh going into a future of Education uh available to hire in about eight years okay thank you all very much we appreciate it thanks guys can I just say one quick thing yes um this is kind of ad lib but I just wanted to thank Mr Cornwell and Mr Gold

026um it's my first year here at Big Hollow I've been an educator for almost 15 years and I joined Big Hollow this year but to allow my students to do this project um based off of a conversation that we had I think is really remarkable to have the full support of administration we kind of took a risk we went out um I just really am appreciative of having the full support of the board and of Mr Gold and Mr Cornwell and allowing my students to investigate something that's really important to them because it did not come from me it it truly did come from them um and then I also wanted to just thank all the parents because they were really Cooperative they allowed their um kids to kind of take this risk and trusted

027me to be able to do this project so I just wanted to say than very well said Thank you thank [Applause] you all right accomplishment recognitions Mr Gold okay we have a few special accomplishments that we want to recognize tonight I'm going to start with Miss Janice and primary student of the month okay and could I please have Samantha rashal Elli come up this is our uh kindergarten teacher and the kindergarten student of the month is Elena antonowicz Elena would you come up sorry I'm used to talking to five-year-olds so um Elena is so deserving of this award she is our classroom greeter she walks in every day with a smile on her face greets every single student she's incredibly inclusive even to our nonverbal um student just so absolutely incredible uh she's kind compassionate

028um she's made huge academic growth this year and she's always right excited she's like oh look at the new skill I got um to show it off to her teacher and to her classmates um she's everything that a Big Hollow Warrior should be and so much more thank you congratulations we get a picture here get this guy out we go Dr bian colana you want to come up good evening uh very excited to introduce our student of the month this month I'd like to ask uh Miss Vasquez to come up because she is the one who nominated this fabulous student um when I went in to announce in her classroom I never got so many hugs from a student of the month as I did from Nyla Jackson so Nyla come on up here to

029the [Applause] front all right um so I nominate Nyla for a student of the month because she's an excellent example of what it means to be a star student she comes in every day with a smile ready to learn and will automatically start greeting her fellow classmates the moment she walks into the classroom she consistently sprinkles kindness whether it be by helping out a fellow classmate walk safely in the hallways by holding his hand um helping him transition in and out of the classroom helping put away materials without being asked helping her classmate with any class work if they um need help or um basically just anything in general uh I can always trust her to do what is asked with quality and will lead others to do the same Nyla has such a positive

030attitude and a sweet caring heart her sweet kind caring and respectful demeanor make her an amazing friend to have she always makes sure she is inclusive of others and will invite others to join in whatever she is doing when we come together as a um group to have our class discussions she's always one to make sure everyone is following our class Family Promise um she's an eager participant and will often be the very first one to raise her hand to share her thoughts ideas and answer questions Nyla is always up for an extra Challenge and will cheer on her classmates to go for the challenge as well and will be one of the first ones to run up to them to give them a positive praise or hug and overall I'm just so happy Nyla

031is a part of my classroom [Applause] family uh Mr dhy is gonna come up he nominated our student our student of the month sixth grader Gianna Reyes and he's going to read um a few things that he had to say about her Gianna come on up all right so Giana is a tremendous young person and student she works extremely hard to set and achieve her goals she's never afraid to speak up to advocate for herself or a classmate her demeanor is very calm kind and focus and I believe that this resonates with her peers I've enjoyed getting to teach and work with Gianna this school year she has excellent character and is a great representative of our school her future will be very bright I nominated Gigi because she's such a deserving young person Gigi

032is a kind and sweet person toward all of her classmates she is very thoughtful and engaging and willing to share her Intrigue with everyone she takes initiative when it comes to both her academic and social well-being I think she has a very strong moral compass and her conviction is extremely evident in all she does her calm yet persistent behavior is contagious and commendable she's a tremendous uh student and classmate who is definitely deserving of recognition congratulations youi and last but not least we have our um employee of the month and this month Miss Sabrina Summers was selected from Big Hall Elementary come on [Applause] Sabrina and we do have plaques for you all but uh they were the weather caused a little delay so um I'm going to read an anonymous submission for Miss Summers

033and this is submitted and our entire staff votes on this so but miss miss Sabrina Summers is an outstanding educator who puts her children and their needs above all else she adores her students she gets to know them their interest and and what motivates them each and every one she has high expectations and then carefully and strategically provid students the tools and resources they need to be successful she builds confidence in students and is in in their Corner every step of the way as she creates a strong Team every year Sabrina is creative in her approach and leaves no stone unturned as she differentiates to help her Learners excel in school she's involved in the school events and is an outstanding role model for her students as well as her colleagues she has had a

034huge impact on the on the wide range of students in her class as well as our own Big Hollow staff she regularly presents to our staff on the topic of inclusivity inclusivity in the classroom and serves as a number of on a number of leadership roles within the school and the district Sabrina is an educator who truly makes a difference each day she goes above and beyond to ensure learning and growth is OCC is occurring in her classroom and deserves to be considered for bigal employee of the month congratulations I've witnessed all of those things in her [Applause] room okay and last but not least I want to I have one more additional uh recognition Mr David jesmer would you come on up so for those that do not know Mr jesmer is retiring at

035the end of this year and we not we recognize our retirees at the end of the year but Mr jesmer has coached basketball Big Hollow Middle School school for 33 years and he just finished his last season so I wanted to recognize Mr jesmer we do have a very cool basketball award coming but it just didn't get here yet but I want to recognize you and thank you for your commitment to kids for 33 years and I know the time commitment that coaching takes and the effort it takes but I also know it's very rewarding uh with the uh relationships that you build over the years so do you want to say anything putting you on the spot uh yeah I mean when I started coaching at Big Hollow I had no experience coaching basketball

036I had some coaching experience but I learned the sport from u a great guy named Tony Zen who taught at Big Hollow for over 30 years and um as Mr Gold said probably the most rewarding part of coaching is the ability to have a day-to-day impact on eighth grade eighth graders um it's a pivotal time in their lives and being able to have an impact on their lives has been been very rewarding Through The Years so thank you congrats thank you let's get a picture that would be the end of our recognitions we start a business meeting you're welcome to stay but you won't offend us if you have to go I'm just trying to pretend here you Gary I will recognize that a board member has no legal Authority as an individual and that

037decisions can be made only by a majority vote at a board meeting thank you anybody any questions on the consent agenda can I please have a motion approve agenda motion second Doug and Joe yes yes Binger yes Peter yes Lions yes yes Benet yes all right superintendent report Mr Gold okay just a few items one uh item exhibit six is the human X data our staff we had 168 participants I recently took the human X survey I'm going to just point you to about four pages here the F the second page of the document exhibit six you'll see a uh a t a uh a grid and the top right corner of the grid is a red circle with 79.17% um um oh I forget the name trust the dream box thank you that's the

038dream box and uh that's that's the uh 79% of our employees are highly engaged and highly satisfied with their work at Big Hollow which is a a great number the little box you see next to that is says 75.7 one that box represents the numbers from last year so uh the dream box as a district we were up to 7917 at for for reference uh I asked humanex what's what's common in the school setting and there the common number in the school setting in the dream box is about 60% so we feel really good about that when our staff is excited and happy about their job it trickles to their performance with kids so the next few pages you'll see it's broken down by school you'll see Primary School uh 50 participants their dream box

039was 82% uh you'll see uh Elementary's dream box was 77.8 08 up from 6 6% last year and Middle School is 77.055917w side so this this information will drive some improvement strategies for us the next item is the calendar for 20242 I uh this process starts in uh November uh just so you know Grant High School uh works with a a Consortium of high schools that all feed into Lake County Tech campus they develop a calendar together because they all have to be on the same calendar um we try to follow rant high schools uh winter break and Spring Break um so that our families that we share students with uh have similar breaks there um the calendar that we have starts with teachers Institute on August 19th uh first day for kids is August

04021st and the last day for students is the Friday after Memorial Day on the 30th of May so if all goes well that's when we would end um the feeder districts that come into Grant High School are Lake Villa Gavin in Fox Lake uh this calendar lines up with where they will probably be none of them have officially approved their calendars yet but I've been in communication with their superintendent and they're going to be really close to these dates so this was uh in collaboration with the Union in creating this so I would just if you're okay with this calendar I would need a motion to approve it motion second yeah anybody any questions on the calendar sorry about that that was me all right seeing none can I please have a motion we got

041a motion and a second my bad uh Lauren and Joe all oppos say I I I guess I all in favor say I screw me up I took this eyes I took this seat and I was starting to feel a little more power take over all right item C is uh some data I just wanted to share with you I know some of you have asked me for this data periodically we we've gotten pieces of it this year I think we've gotten more data collectively than we've ever received from Grand high school it's in regards to how our students who GR from Big Hollow are performing when they get to Grant I won't read every bullet but I do think you should take some time to go through this one I'm going to start with

042the academic data summary uh the first bullet says the average GPA for students from Big Hollow at Grant is 3.09 one the overall average at Grant is 2.83 three that does include the Big Hollow kids as well so that's going to drive that number up higher so if you go down that list we're outperforming we're performing well above the uh above the uh I would say that we're the highest performing feeder going into this in the in Grand High School um in and academically also as far as activities you'll see 62% of students participating extra activities at Grant are from Big Hollow and uh 44% of the total population is from Big Hollow so a higher percentage of our students are participating test score data map scores are high uh higher than the averages sat

043same way higher than the averages uh the discipline data on the second page of this document outlines um you know again I highlighted that 44.9% of the students at Grant are from Big Hollow if you go down the discipline accounts if you see any numbers creeping up over 44.9% that means more of our students are participating than uh is relation to the population but you can see that uh we have a lower our students have a lower discipline incident referral uh data what's that language infraction language infractions yep that's the one know how many of our students actually graduate and go to college that would be inter that is a good yeah and you know what I don't know if they have data for the whole school I don't know if they have I I'll

044find out we did talk about that do you also know the or can you figure out the grade percentages that our students leave here so like what percent had A's B's and C's comparative when they leave here yeah so like whether they're maintaining oh okay it would just be a GPA comparison but it would be hard in high school because it's weight yeah oh yeah oh yeah that will be hard that would be too I think that would be too hard you're right because you if a kid gets a c and you take unweighted than kids taking an AP class yeah it's I think that'd be too be interesting it' be interesting but I don't know yeah yeah um all right so that's the grant data I think it's very interesting uh the next one

045is our press policy I'll let Kevin read the uh all right anybody have any questions on the board board press policies no nope I please have a motion to approve on second reading of the board policy update motion second Joan Vivian all in favor I I any oppos I have it last item there is just a reminder of graduation date for 8th grade we are set for Thursday May 23rd 7 PM in the gym again and invite the board to attend that so I'll be there all right yes she will be yes she will be there last one last one last one all right um anybody question on the review of the closed session meeting minutes this comes up every year no no can I please have a motion to approve the review of the

046closed session meeting minutes motion second Gary and Joe all in favor I any oppose I sa it Transportation agreement yeah I will talk about this for a second um I will say that I I am reluctantly giving you this recommendation uh we are kind of backed in a corner and I don't mind saying that publicly um the the transportation industry with the the there's been it's just been hit hard of the pandemic and as the committee knows we uh the we usually get three-year leases the current Fleet we're on our fifth year we had a three-year lease itend ended right in the middle of the pandemic the prices to renew a new lease at that time was was ex was extreme and our best option was to go two more years on that lease the

047issue is that uh when I file for reimbursement from the state I do a transportation claim they let you get you you get to uh depreciation depreciate the buses for five years but you don't get to go any longer so we've get we get a kickback from this we get to depreciate about 12 or 13,000 a bus for five years we don't get all that but we get about 75% of that back but if you go longer than five you don't get any and we are on our fifth year so I reached out to the transportation company probably a year ago and I said I need to get in line for the first set I need to because buses are in demand I said I need to get in line I need to get a

048price I want to lock it in because if I didn't like their price I was going to go elsewhere and get quotes um I couldn't get quotes they had trouble getting me quotes they we're basically we like to get buses that are Oney old off of because some districts get new buses every year we take buses off a one-year lease it's usually more affordable and we drive them for three years and we give them back um they had ISS they had to wait to see what they had available anyway long story short was I just found out recently what we have available I I was not happy that was recent because I it's too late for me to go get other quotes uh to to get too deep with quotes I did get a quote

049from the highest the strongest competitor of this company and it was actually higher than this so but these numbers uh for 71 passenger buses 20 20 buses which is one more than we have now because we are going to try to add a route to lower some uh stress on the capacity that we have but that number of 2,654 that does include that's per year lease but it it does include the maintenance package they do come on site to fix the buses it does include that but I will tell you in 2016 when we switched over to transportation we were paying about 12,000 for buses so in in that amount of time it's doubled and it's very frustrating but it's that way I've it's that way everywhere and uh um so that's why I'm reluctant

050but we don't have a choice just I we just don't have a choice I got because I have to have new buses on July 1 and at this point um I did like I said I did reach out to the strongest competitor their prices were not better than this the only thing they could give me were brand new buses they were higher and they could not get us the 27 passengers which are the smaller buses that we we need those buses so they couldn't get me those and this company probably wouldn't probably wouldn't be excited about just giving us a small buses they'd probably put us in the back of the line so I I really our only recommendation is to move forward with this we do get significant kick reimbursement from the state but

051I it is a higher cost than we've typically paid so I I just don't think we have a choice and these are the buses that have been driven for one year yeah they're actually coming from Grant High [Laughter] School so uh when Grant released their buses to sign a new lease we took their we were first in line we took 20 so yeah they're actually coming from Grant so you know we'll right now we're driving 5-year-old buses or actually six-year-old buses and we are having problems so there's a lot of maintenance issues so we're looking forward to getting back to New buses and uh do they have the same camera system our the part of the price here is transferring our camera system over to that because we own that yeah all bus radio do

052we have stop arm cameras we do not do not have those can look into it is there in recourse yeah yeah The Bu DS da and the tickets issued yep so I have to get may they run outside of my house all the time I would have to get a uh the trick on that is I have to get a and I we can look into it but I have to get every village that we drive in to have to establish an ordinance oh you just write them under State ticket really it doesn't have to be an ordinance we just write State tickets okay well I'll definitely look into that then I thought I had to go through the hoop like a speeding ticket okay who gets the funds whatever Village it happens in it's

053not school no your house is the worst area or your house is the worst area yes but it's still only each Village only gets $7 a ticket the rest goes of the state does matter whoes it yes many three that is um I think we have six and we are I believe I don't have that number right off the top of my head but we also we are renting a bus from wakanda so in this we have two wheelchair buses so we don't have to worry about that anymore because we got caught last year not having enough wheelchair buses and we had to go pay an exorb amount for that we've been fortunate to rent one from wakanda they did inform us that that's probably going to end after this year so we're making sure

054we don't get caught in that situation we'll have three vans and we'll have four or five buses that are going out so we we are eliminating because we have enough drivers we're eliminating uh having to use Transportation agencies oh yeah yeah this is still better where's the second wheelchair bus on this um is 21 plus one um what that means is a capacity of 21 plus one wheelchair and the far left side says quantity of four so we're going to have four of them oh okay so we have four wheelchair buses probably only use two of them as wheelchair we'll use the other ones just driving students yeah if they don't have wheelchair capacity they're 27 if they do their 21 plus the wheelchair we right now we don't but we thought the price is

055the same we need eight small buses so the price is the same we thought might as well make four of them wheelchair just in case we need them usually we not filling up the wheel the smaller buses sometimes we're sending eight kids or five kids over to a school district so it's a smaller bus so I would recommend we we move forward all right anybody else have questions and we're recommending the three-year lease agreement right yes threee not five all right okay please have a motion to approve the transportation lease agreement for from July 1st 2024 through July 1st motion we have a motion we need a second second thought Jo Lauren motion Joe second yes Bennett yeser yes Lions yes Binger yes yes do anybody have questions on the employment recommendations for December please
