001Hello, Bloomington Public Schools community. I'm School Board Chair Matt Dymoke. And I'm Superintendent Eric Melbye. And we have some updates to share from the November 24th business meeting. The 2025 enrollment report was presented representing the official enrollment numbers as of October 1st. Although K-12 enrollment decreased compared to last year, we are pleased that our enrollment is slightly higher than our projections. Total enrollment, including early childhood programs all the way through our programs that serve students aged 18 to 22 is 10,482 students. Our kindergarten enrollment is lower than I would like it to be and has been trending downward for a little while, so we're going to be working hard on Operation Enrollment and making sure our families understand how great our kindergarten programs are for our students. And to do that, we're going to partner
002with CEL. So the board approved a contract last night for CEL to come in and help with the marketing portion of our enrollment efforts. And so we're excited to utilize that their expertise and really move forward and help grow those kindergarten numbers moving forward. The board also approved new members to the Bloomington Public Schools Advocacy Council, BPSAC, Laurel Needham, along with student school board representatives Elsa Ackerman and Samia Mohamud will join the council to provide feedback on the board's legislative platform, advocate for Bloomington Public Schools and help with the district Strategic Plan. We also heard an update from our middle school theater programs across the district. And so this year, for the first time, all three middle schools had a fall production. CATS here at Oak Grove, Myth-Understood at Olson and Peter Pan at Valley
003View. So it's exciting to see all of the exciting things that are happening across our theater programs. And I'm excited to see what the spring productions will be as well. You know, middle school theater has really grown here in Bloomington. And this past summer, they also had a production of James and the Giant Peach, which featured students from seven of our schools across the district. So lots of great things happening in the theater world. So great. We have so many talented students performing in theater, band and choir programs throughout the year. We do have a performing arts calendar on the news section of our BPS website, and we invite you to catch a show and support our hardworking students. And I think that's all that we have today from the November 24th business meeting. We
004look forward to meeting with you again in December. Thanks a lot. We'll see you soon.
