001foreign back into Open Session can everyone please stand for the Pledge of allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands one nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all thank you all right I just have one thing to add to the agenda uh board member attendance to be covered can I please have a motion motion second Vivian all in favor aye hoes eyes have it uh academic spotlight all right I'm gonna start by calling up Abigail Dan Young don't have it I don't I don't know if many people know that we offer golf but bored we do and uh have you signed up as an individual and they play in the sectional local sectional and if they play well enough they qualify for
002the state and she qualified for the states and I wanted to honor that tonight uh it's a it's quite an accomplishment to play down there I think you're the second person her other the other one was her sister am I correct on that yes a few years back and we didn't recognize her so I want to make sure that we get this right and uh especially with the with the golf because I think she flies on the radar a little bit since it's not a a sport that we have a lot of competition around here so she goes to a sectional she qualified what place did you get at the sectional 10th place and then went down to the state tournament so very nice job but we're proud of you and congrats [Applause] and her
003dad was the coach right and congratulations thank you and then uh we have a student of the month so I'm going to ask Alex Luna to come on up [Applause] and I'm gonna have Mr Lyons going to come up here as well we're going to take a picture but I have to tell you this guy when I I I I get the pleasure each month of uh telling the student of the month that they get to get the award and Alex was awesome talking to him uh he he was a little stunned and he kept saying so you're you're just one I go yes just won the whole district and uh uh very grateful very kind young man I'm gonna have his two Soccer Coaches come on up because they want to talk a little
004bit about why they nominated Alex come on up you guys can introduce yourselves I'll let you introduce yourselves and then share anything you want to share all right so my name is Lisa Swiderski Andrew burnsey so I'm going to read you what we wrote to staff that got him um chosen so I said he might be a little quiet or outwardly shy but Luna as we know him is one of the most hard-working team players we have ever worked with we've had the pleasure of having Luna on our soccer team this season besides being one of the most amazing soccer players Luna takes it upon himself to work with our other players during practice to build up their skills as well as their character our entire team has the utmost respect for Luna and continue
005to look to him for guidance both on and off the field on three separate occasions officials and opposing coaches have spoken to us after matches about Luna's integrity and character I can't think of a more deserving student than Alex Luna he exemplifies student expectations at Big Hollow and is most deserving of this honor so congrats remove this [Applause] Carrie Hubbard was nominated and selected for a employee of the month she couldn't be here tonight um but uh I will try to include something with Kerry next month so that's all I have and you all are welcome to stick around but you can leave all right the board member code of conduct review I'll just I'll strive for a positive relationship with respecting the superintendent's authority to advise the board Implement board is anybody any questions
006on the consent agenda okay please have a motion to prove the consent agenda motion Lauren and Doug yes yeah yes do we have any public comments uh superintendent support Mr Golden okay just a couple things that to start with uh I just want to make you aware we are starting a district leadership team that will consist of um the building leadership teams in each building and all the administration we're going to meet three times a year I I put on the agenda exhibit eight which outlines the roles of the district leadership team the purpose of the team um you can you can read through that if you've got any questions you can let me know on the exhibit nine you'll see some objectives we're going to cover this year we'll probably be adding to this
007but basically a typical meeting we're going to do it via Zoom uh we'll do three evening meetings it's hard to get everybody together in this District so that's going to be an easy way for us to do that with the schools getting out at different times of the day it's harder to have a Consolidated meeting so we're going to do evening meetings via Zoom uh we'll have the building leadership teams at each building give updates uh we'll talk about updates on our strategic plan we will talk about any possible upcoming initiatives we're thinking about we'll run them through that team and then we you can see a list of things that we're going to cover throughout the year so this is just something I've been wanting to do for a while we finally are getting
008it off the ground a little bit the next item on the agenda is uh dual language update now that we are into school for a couple months we wanted to provide a time for Dr hatch Fitz and Miss orlana to provide you an update with dual language you have the floor hello so um Michelle and I wanted to take some time to present to you some things that are happening in the Dual language program so thank you ah so um here are some of the curriculum resources that are being used in the Dual language classroom so we do have creative curriculum that's in Spanish Handwriting Without Tears in Spanish which is words their way in Spanish open court for English reading Vista literacy in Spanish and second step in both English and in Spanish so
009these are the resources that the students are using on a daily basis in the Dual language classroom and I do just want to give you a little bit of information about the language allocation that is happening in the Dual language program so Monday Tuesdays and Wednesdays are for uh Spanish instruction the students are receiving their instruction in Spanish except for their special classes they're so like art gym Project Lead the Way on Thursday we have the bridge which is a major component in dual language and this is where we look at the Spanish and English side by side so that students can start distinguishing between the two languages and finding similarity similarities and differences between them on Friday it's used for our extension so what students learned in Spanish throughout the week we extend it
010in English so they are doing extend extending their learning from the standards that were covered that week in English so we do have some pictures that demonstrate the learning of the students so we have students collaborating on Geo boards investigating seats that is part of the creative curriculum we have a lot of English and Spanish books that are in the library students I really enjoy looking at those exploring math concepts doing art working on puzzles collaborating on building these are pieces that are from the handwriting with our tiers now these pieces are being used to help students with forming letters in Spanish students explore science Concepts and also participate in Daily read-alouds um so we did a beginning of the year lost length Spanish testing to measure the students Spanish fluency so the test measures
011their oral literacy which is their listening and speaking in Spanish and their pre-literacy skills So reading and writing and this is pre-literacy so before you know students are actually reading and writing currently there are no students fluent in Spanish in the Dual language program but we did test all of the students in kindergarten that indicated Spanish as a home language and only two students showed limited Proficiency in Spanish no student was actually considered fluent in Spanish according to the test we did see though that about half the students have been in their pre-literacy scores show some improvements where they're able to identify letters colors numbers in Spanish but they are not fluent yet according to the test but we will administer the test again at the end of the school year to see if there
012has been any growth in their language development and that's it any questions yes uh so what was the ultimate makeup of native speakers or the ones that did um state that they spoke at home versus none yes so um 10 students indicated English as their native language and then uh 10 students indicated Spanish and then did you have more students applied on you had space yes there was about like 60 something um around 60 um people that applied for the Dual language program and only 20 spots were available and how were they accepted uh through a lottery process so Michelle went on zoom and randomly drew names from an English bin and do they receive any standardized tests at this level what was that do they have any standardized tests do they do map s
013yes so um we they do access every year which is measuring their English language development they do the kids assessment which is the kindergarten a individual development survey so all the kindergartners do that yes all kindergartners do that let me see how they perform as a as a class compared to everybody else if they're just getting one day of even even if like you said usually you pulled 10 names out of the Spanish app and only two of them because they're semi proficient or whatever not 20 kids in the class 18 of them are learning yeah do this for a first time yes so that's got to be pretty cool yes and with um the kids assessment correct me if I'm wrong lynnann but that test can be administered in Spanish right yeah and all
014kindergartners are doing the excess test no English English language it's only they all do the kids they all do the kids assessment yes they all do kids um and the English language Learners take the excess yeah test okay all right thank you very much for the update appreciate it thank you item C is just to get uh approval on second reading of the press plus policies that were presented last month anybody have any questions on the second policies please don't motion approved the the second reading of the board policy motion second Lauren and Vivian all in favor aye any opposed that's my kid motion um item D our OE report yep item d uh so each each fall you're aware we do we have the Roe come in and they do a health life safety
015inspection um I don't even know quite how to describe this one but we we really got uh every Rock overturned this time and um and I think that they were you know whenever you get an inspection done it just depends on the inspector is how much they're how close they're going to look and what they and uh so um this inspector did a very good job because as far as you know following their guidelines and um you'll see on those reports that we have a number of items that we have to have to fix and most of them are they're easy fixes but it is a little bit um cumbersome in that uh like most many of the rugs that are in classrooms um have to be removed um any lamps pillows things like that
016other it's stuff that they've looked past them in the past they've not said anything I will say that our our local fire people disagree with with the findings but uh each of the districts around us are kind of getting this in the same situation so we're just uh we I have our Administration and then Derek swederski are doing walk-throughs right now we're fixing all these things the next you know within 30 days so we're working on it do they make fire they can get yes so they have to have a certain uh and uh we purchased the rugs usually they were okay but if a teacher bought it at Target and brought it in it probably wasn't so if they have they given any follow-up guidance on the magnetic locks and why we can't have
017those on the what magnetic door locks oh actually yes um I I argued that one pretty hard because I our local fire he's talking about the uh magnets over the over the door um latches that in an emergency situation door's locked you just pull the magnet and the door is locked um I argued that pretty hard they uh they told me that um it was basically we went back and forth on it the I argue because these buildings are fully sprinkled so really I even argue the rugs uh but I can't there's there's not much I can do about that um the uh with the door magnets they ended up running it all the way up to the State Board of Ed which I was surprised they called me and said you can have the
018door magnets so the door magnets are okay but uh administratively we're going to talk about it tomorrow at a meeting because um they expressed some concern over safety with those um and now that they've expressed that concern I think we need to talk about it but their issue is that even though that's not why they're here they're here for fire safety not for I mean I felt like until we can get door locks where we can lock from the inside of the room which is a priority we're working on that but until we can get that I thought the magnets were like a temporary fix for us their argument to me was that if there was a serious issue and a teacher forgets to pull the magnet then somebody gets in the room but it's
019also that way if the teacher didn't have their keys or the teacher you know there's a lot of things that could happen and we thought the magnet was the easiest of the bunch leave your door locked all the time then just pull the magnet shut the door but now that they've brought it to our attention like that that's their concern I think we need to talk about it and figure out uh what steps to take I am I am working on a grant through it's the police Grant I think it's called cops and schools Grant this January we're going to work on it with a consultant and there's some money in that Grant to harden schools and I'm at a focus on maybe getting the classrooms the lock situation taken care of it's going to
020be a pretty expensive project but if we can get some funding that will help so long answer to your question but that's what it was how often does that excuse me how often off to the Roe once a year um not all this no the door magnets are new um the clearance clearance is on there and we try I mean we even have I know in the buildings we have in rooms we have a red line do not store things higher in this line but if it ever happens anywhere they just get written up on it um we have been written up on on uh Furniture before remember that and it happened again this year so sometimes people bring in furniture and we just don't even know so we we have to do we have
021to figure out a better system for that I think the word is out now because right now we're going through and just pulling everything out and uh I can say people aren't very happy with us but it is what it is so it's like door Garland is that is that decoration decoration yeah so here's our local fire people talk to me about this and they're like so if you're getting written up for these carpets and rugs on the floor then what about the carpets in the room what about the books on the bookshelf what about the I mean they started listing all the paper on the desk the I don't know where it stops but you can't I mean all that stuff obviously we're not gonna get rid of for it but according to the
022local fire people they don't see the difference so but anyway we're gonna I mean they they were doing what their job was and we're following they're following their guidelines and we're gonna we're gonna do our best to make sure that next year you don't see a big list like this so we're able to verify the exhaust system was it yes that was done they just forgot to put the tag on it the company that did it forgot to tag it all right item C or uh e is the school Improvement planning I'm gonna let our three building principals step up and introduce themselves and uh do the school Improvement plan I'm Lenny I'm Janus Josh Cornwall tonight we will be sharing with you an over and over each of the three buildings uh are using
023goals from our district strategic plans and creating building level School Improvement plans nope okay so we kept it really simple we have really two main goals um and I'm going to talk about our first goal in the area of instruction and student achievement are building leadership teams and grade level teams have been analyzing data from a variety of Assessments including iar map kids and gold um kids being the kindergarten assessment you heard about earlier and gold being a Pre-K assessment we will specific targeted goals and action steps are being set at each building level based upon the assessment used at each of the grade levels a thorough data analysis is currently underway we're working with the Roe curriculum Specialists Dr hetrovitz and the building administrators as well as our building leadership teams who have been
024included in this process we had a BLT retreat at each of our buildings this summer and really talked about iar and you know really a big frustration where we as Educators see that our students are priority standards are very much aligned with iar we can see students as we're working with them on a daily basis for the um the rigor and expectations that the iar poses and we really are seeing that our kids when they take these assessments their performance is not really being accurately reflected by the scores that we see so this is a frustration for all of us and we we want to tackle it and we want to do well and we want our performance levels to be shown as we think they really are for our students so as we continue
025to kind of do a deep dive with this our Roe is on the regional Office of Education they are helping us work through a process of evaluating and looking at how our students are performing and how we can make an impact within the classroom on a daily basis with our students we're creating targeted action steps that will happen throughout the year not just several weeks before iar which makes a big difference to hopefully impact the results of our students performance on these assessments we're using Otis to monitor learning and progress and growth that's our our student growth platform and then we just got via email from Mr Gold through the through isbe the Illinois student Readiness tool that is be just put out and a lot of that focus is on the technology piece and
026giving students experiences in practice navigating iar and having some of those expectations um be rep replicated in when worked when we're teaching students and they're working on activities and that sort of thing so that's better aligned um so our goal really is to assist our students in navigating the tech and understanding the expectations of iar this year so our second goal there is culture and climate as you can see up there um so each building's School Improvement plan goals will have um just as lenan mentioned I'm sorry in that one and Vinnie mentioned for academics we have action steps and strategies to achieve our main goal of ensuring that our Big Hollow Community continues to Foster empathy and a sense of belonging for all of our stakeholders a variety of efforts have been and will
027continue to be made to have an impact on our community's perception of the diversity Equity inclusion and sense of belonging within our district data obtained from the various surveys will provide information to us as we create specific action plans to meet this goal so our building leadership teams are working on action steps our mental health teams at each building are working on action steps and then training and working with our staff to create a more welcoming and inclusive environment um and we each have a diversity equity and inclusion committee at each building level that is also reviewing data that we have and putting together action steps and as you can see up there we're using a variety of surveys to measure how we are doing with regard to the community's perception of the diversity Equity
028inclusion and belonging in our building so we're using the human X survey for our staff the five Essentials for parents and depending on the grade level the five Essentials also gives us some information from the students and then we have a school climate survey through PBIS that we will be administering to students so trying to get a variety of data points to measure where our where our community feels we are at with um cultivating a safe secure and inclusive learning environment and I should add that we are having to develop or gather a baseline right now because some of our survey results have been inconclusive in the past where we just haven't gotten enough responses to really develop action steps from those or to really gauge particularly where where our community feels we're at so
029we're still trying to hone that and find specific surveys that can give us the information that we're looking for thank you exhibit 12 in their packet will give you a much more detailed version of the school Improvement plans so if you've gone through thank you very much appreciate it em F uh is going to be a review of our Auto reports um I have Kathy Naughton from uh Eder Casella and Company to come here tonight to present the audit we haven't done this for a few years I thought it was it would be good to have have her do this I appreciate it she was very easy to work with for us this year we appreciate that Kathy she sits in my auto my for for a good week and uh so we put on
030some good tunes and uh she goes to town on it so um but I thought it'd be good to let Kathy kind of just give an update on the audit all right that's okay we're going to show the auditor it doesn't matter if you have it in your packet um it doesn't really I'm not going to go into a time okay but I I you know I'm just going to point out a couple of people all right we'll go to exhibit 13. she might return yeah you have it the other on your way out right oh yeah yeah that's fine oh or oh okay so I'm sorry no I'm not gonna project exhibit 13 Matt all right can you hear me okay yeah I'm short so I'm gonna blow that but I think it's better
031okay um I'm Kathy Naughton from eater Casella company thank you so much for allowing me inviting me to come in and talk about the audit um it's one of the you know my favorite parts of the job is to actually you know tidy up the audit and you know have have some completed results so I appreciate the opportunity to come in um just want to talk about the process the auto went very well um I have nothing but good things to say about Mr Gold his staff especially the bookkeeper Lauren and Sophia from HR payroll everybody that I've requested information from is really responsive really helpful um definitely a team effort here and we appreciate it thank you um in terms of the action um one of the things we do is evaluate the district's
032internal controls over financial reporting that's just a normal part of the process so we do a little bit of inquiry and we observe some procedures and things like that and then we test those controls and normally we make some recommendations if we find any serious issues with the internal controls we would report it in a management utter comment uh in a management letter and I'm happy to report there were no such you know comments this year we always have small recommendations that don't necessarily warrant a management letter so we talk about that with management staff involved Etc and you know have never had a problem with uh anyone here you know not implementing you know our suggestions and things like that so good good news on that um so as I mentioned no management letter
033related to finding the final statement so can I interject one thing can I interject one thing yes so for the last few years we've had this issue with liabilities and we've had to do a major uh journal entry at the end of the year and um we were trying to get direction and on how to fix that and we thought we had it but I will say that this is the first year Kathy's done the audit on her own and she dug deep found out what's going on and so I think we have the process figured out yes so finally we were going to get everybody involved yeah no she did a great job with that and and I'll I'll just add to that it's really challenging because it's it's really a function of the
034accounting system and so the accounting system to make it easy and routine to process invoices Etc it's just the way the transactions are posted but because of the timing and the fact that the district is reporting on a cash basis that requires a little bit of re review and adjustment in order to get to the cash basis financial statement so I think you know you know we've come up with you know what is going to work better and again this is one of those recommendations that again we talk about and you know we're we're we're on the same team here we know usually people think the audit come you know Auditors come in and say adversary are not really like that like that we are here to you know to work with the district on
035how to how to improve that kind of stuff for their financial reporting so it I think it was good I think we did drill down and you know got some answers so um that'll reduce the number of adjustments that the Auditors have to make is going to be done internally showing on the screen is um the opinion letter and the one thing that jumps out um for someone who's not that familiar with this is that you'll read in there that there's an adverse opinion and so just wanted to explain a little bit about that and in fact clean opinion however what you'll read is that there's an adverse opinion about whether the district's financial statements comply with uh generally accepted accounting principles in the United States and the fact is that the district is reporting
036under the regulatory basis of accounting rather than the accrual basis and that is prescribed by the state of Illinois State Board of Education so so while it says there's an ad adverse opinion on U.S Gap it is an unmodified opinion or a clean opinion according to the regulatory basis which is you know again prescribed by SD so it is a clean opinion even though that little that little word in there sort of confuses people sometimes so I just want to point that out there really um is a clean opinion and what that means is that the financial statements included in the report are free from any material misstatements so um good good news there uh there's also the letter addresses internal control over financial reporting and as I said we always come in and we
037test that we don't give an opinion on that but again we would make recommendations and things like that foreign so if we're going down to like page seven or eight you know table of contents and all this good stuff um get down here there we go all right so the page eight shows the uh the district's statement of uh assets liabilities and fund balance and uh you could compare this to a business balance sheet um again since you're regulatory Cash basis you're generally not going to have a ton of um other assets or liabilities you're not going to have like prepaid expenses or accounts payable or anything like that um so essentially what you're looking at is your assets that consist of cash and then your fund balances in each of your funds so um
038you know again it's sort of like there's not not any liabilities posted to be subtracted from those assets so essentially your assets and your fund balance are equal in the bot at the bottom you'll see that fund balance is actually broken out into a couple different categories one is reserved and then there's another category unreserved which is broken up into designated undesignated so in the reserved line you're going to see things like in the Ed funds there's a reserved amount for Student Activity funds in the um in the O M fund I think this year it ended up to be a small reserve for unspent maintenance Grant proceeds so things like that that are really required to be kind of set aside are going to show up on that line in the imrf Social Security
039fund you're going to see amounts that have been levied and collected for Social Security should be reserved they're not really going to be used for any other purpose or any general purpose and and then in terms of what's on what's under unreserved the line item that says designated is really all of the district's early property taxes so what that means is since you're reporting on a cash basis you have collected these property taxes they're showing up as Revenue in your financial statements however the board designates the 2021 tax levy to be used for fiscal 23 school year 23 so um really those those funds are just set aside for that purpose and just because you're reporting the cash basis you've collected some of those early property taxes they do hit the financials but you just
040want to earmark them for use in the next fiscal year so that's the deal with um the statement of starting on page nine is actually the statement of revenues expenditures and changes in fund balance this would be similar to a business's income statement so it's kind of like a profit and loss um and what you're going to see is a summary of The District's revenues and the expenditures the revenues are really kind of grouped by local sources State sources Federal sources Etc and then the expenditures really are grouped by The District's functions which would include instruction support services and so on so this really just summarizes those revenue and expense items and shows then the net the net income if you want to call it that or the net um the difference between the revenues
041and expenses so just wanted to talk a little bit about those um generally you can look at just about in the middle of the page um in the Ed fund for example the access for the year was 150 about 115 000. if you go across it's pretty in in significant in terms of dollar amounts it's pretty even for most of those funds after that line we take into consideration those transfers that are in those interfund transfers and those intervalent transfers kind of can skew some of those numbers if you look at it what happened in for example the O M fund there was a two million dollar transfer out of the O M fund so if you look at the net amount toward you know a couple lines down you'll see oh we had a
0421.9 million dollar you know decrease in fund balance in the O M fundal there's the nice thing about separating out the things that like transfers that are not operating items is that you can identify you can easily identify the cause for that change um overall if I want to just look at the total decrease in fund balance all the way at the right is the total column and you'll see you know overall I think it's even 41 000. so pretty pretty close to even for um the net amount for uh prior year an increase of 831 000 there's a lot of reasons for the differences I have to say fiscal 21 is probably not not normal for for most districts just um under the circumstances um in terms of the specifics if you want to
043drill down the next is the statement of revenues and it actually provides just a little bit more detail line by line item uh for those sources of revenue so if you really wanted to drill down and see you know what what were the local sources of them um in General Revenue was uh fairly stable there was a significant change in your federal revenues and a lot of that had to do with these grants that you've been getting over the last couple of years and the timing of that income really coincides with when the district spends the money so some of these grants were probably awarded in previous fiscal year or maybe even two years ago the fact that it is that the district is starting to spend those monies therefore those Grant reimbursements come in
044come in so there was at least a two million dollar swing in total federal revenues in the past year um and then as far as expenditures it for the most part in most funds the expenditures increased slightly in the Ed fund there was definitely a an increase from 21 in instruction and support services but again I think that's probably a function of resuming normal services and things like that and probably if we went back a couple years we at that and see oh yeah this is more like fiscal 20 or 19 or something like that so so um that was the starting on page 12 all the way to 22 I'm not really going to go through detail but I just want to explain what what you'll see on those pages are the budget to
045actual schedules and this is where you'd get drill down information for your expenditures and it's line item by line item um and and you're going to see the comparison between budget and actual so if you again want to kind of dig down and look a little bit for a little bit more of an explanation you can look at those pages following those budget to actual pages are the notes to the financial statements and so this is more of a narrative that would give you some information and it kind of explains some of the dollar amounts that you're reading in the financial state again a really useful source of information to just supplement what you're seeing in terms of the numbers most of this from year to year and usually what when I you know go
046to a board meeting I will talk about what what was different from a report that you've seen in the past there really wasn't a ton of change this year there was one new Gatsby uh standard this is a governmental accounting standard um and it was related to the district's operating leases and so this one's kind of been in place or or in the works I should say for a couple of years and what that really did was change the way that governments are reporting operating leases so these are rental agreements for things like copiers and buses this isn't financing for something that the district is buying it's really just about these rental agreements and essentially what the get the standard does is to say that if the district is enjoying the right to use that
047property then there they should be reporting that as a financial resource and Reporting the liability associated with those leases um doesn't make a huge amount of difference for a regulatory basis District but we did need to analyze those leases if the total aggregated amount was material then it's really it's required to be reported so there will be just there's a new footnote related to that and then you'll see in a capital asset schedule you know gasby 87 leased property and Gatsby 87 lease debt would show up on this the statement of liabilities on the schedule of liabilities in the footnote so just if you're if you're curious about this um I like these details I know for most of you this is not your thing but um just in case you know there's something different
048there uh there's it as far as new standards that are coming out there is another one and it's related to subscription-based technology resources that the district might um have and again we are going to do the same thing at that point just analyze whether their material or significant enough to include in financial statements and I'm not sure if that's going to be for fiscal 23 or fiscal 24 but it's in the near future I would say all right um the back part of the audit report is actually related to the federal audit so this we refer to it as a single audit of all of your federal programs um and there and again was you know a clean audit there uh it's tough for a lot of districts with these new grants coming out sometimes
049the rules are not clear in the beginning um so it's not uncommon to have some issues make making sure you're in compliance with regulations in the grant one don't know what the rules are right right from the start but we did not have any issues there we did not discover any compliance problems uh with those grants so pleased to report a clean opinion on that and then finally um you know two more things one more thing I want you want to support which is a standard multi-tab spreadsheet is what it starts out to be required by a state board of education and I all of the district's financial information was kind of condensed into this one worksheet that gets submitted to the state and part of the calculations part of the part of the report
050it actually includes a measure called it's a financial profile score for the district and so it's ranking um it there's a couple different measures of financial strength there so looking at fund balances revenues and expenses of the amount of debt the amount of cash on hand and there's a it's it's based on a scale of you know one to four uh and the district score for this year and last year I know by this year I mean 22 because I'm always a year behind 22-21 the district score was 3.9 out of four and that's the highest recognition that's the highest uh score highest category of score in this recognition so always happy to see that so so um yeah yeah I think that was it then any questions all right too much information one one
051thing that as I went through it I want to clarify too is I you'll see somewhere I'm looking on Facebook capital projects funds yeah the budget was 267 the actual was 9.52 I just want to point out that's because we purchased uh we received a large Grant to purchase Chromebooks and we ran that through gamble projects so the expense was pretty high but we got revenue to replace reporting on the cash basis you know what your projects are going to be and then the timing of these invoices for for contractors or whatever it happens to be kind of messes with that budget sometimes at the end of the year if the work gets done and they get a bill in and it gets paid it hits the the financials and there goes the budget so
052that's not not on um that Grant and that that fund and that it was used so that is exactly why that how about on uh page 12 intergolastic programs that's like a 30 difference there what happened there too uh decrease underestimate right in the middle of the page there 241 versus 160. okay that would be awesome I have to do a little research on that one actually because I I don't know if it just popped up I would have over budgeted there the budget yeah that yeah I like to figure out why I over budgeted there because we did have all of our programs back last year so already could have been some it could have been some of that that could have been yes those after that you're right thanks Michelle that uh those
053after school programs that we're running we did we used to pay for them out of here oh yeah okay now we're painful okay okay yep that's probably what it was all right anybody have any other questions thank you thank you appreciate it appreciate you coming tonight yeah can I please have a motion to prove the 2020-2021 audit report motion second yeah yes anybody any questions on the September employment report can I please have a motion to prove the September employment report motion second Vivian yes yeah yes um any questions on this I met with the building grounds committee we decided to focus that money this year on new flooring for the uh K1 classrooms that have carpet original it's original carpet and uh so this will be we'll use the matching fifty thousand dollar Grant
054the total project will be just over a hundred thousand so I thought this would be a good way to use it how many classrooms after these do you still have the original carpet Middle School we have a lot but Primary Elementary because of the mold issue we had a few years ago it's all we we might try to tag those the remaining rooms over there into this project so there's probably Vinnie would you say four or five rooms at private elementary or Elementary and then Middle School a lot of classrooms but we have replaced some in the Middle School are we still doing carpet um at the middle school We have replaced it with carpet over there we're not no we're going to put hard surface floor the new pod yes we did put carpet
055in the new pod last two years ago but yeah we're gonna start replacing those with them we just haven't changed it yeah we've only I think we've replaced carpet in a couple classrooms still original yeah okay yeah oh no no it's you know it does we have some classrooms that need replacement in here um over primary they want the hard surface because the kids spill a lot of stuff clean yeah it's clean so we're not replaced true yeah I should have clarified that we're replacing carpet with uh DCT tile yeah and then eventually that'll happen everywhere yeah yeah I think so huh true anybody have any questions on the school maintenance project Grant care please have a motion to report the submission of the 2023 School maintenance project Grant motion second Lauren and Doug yes
