Oh, Well, it's 5:00. I will call the board meeting to order. Uh, let's start with the pledge of >> allegiance. I allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> I just did it again. >> Call finds all present except for Cindy. All right, we're going to start with employees of the month. Um, Manisladic, Ethan Taylor, Nikki Greger, and Rachel Ou Underberg. Did I say that right? >> Perfect. Yeah. So, just a little highlight. So, last year we started this um probably done in the past, but last year we at least rejuvenated it. Uh, and we tried to do basically one staff member. Um, I will share that there are numerous uh people that

are being nominated, which is really phenomenal because I think our staff needs to recognize each other. Um, and so when I started this last year, I wasn't sure if we'd get very many, uh, but it continues to grow, uh, which is pretty awesome. So then we decided to recognize some more people um, instead of just the one. So we're going to do, uh, two within a teacher bargaining unit and then two that are outside of that that unit um, because then we just can promote more of what our staff is actually doing across this district. And we're only doing it really over about eight months. Um, so to recognize that many people is more than what you should be doing, right? So, first one I want to do is uh read off Nikki Greger. Um,

and I'm going to read what your person wrote for you. Right. So, I got to come. >> So, Nikki Greger, kindergarten teacher at TCU Lawale was nominated by Kelly Ryan. Nikki goes above and beyond each and every day for staff and students. Nikki is the true epitome of what it means to be an employee of the month. She creates strong relationships with students and staff, is always willing to help out, and is an incredible co-orker. Nikki creates a positive environment for students in her classroom by allowing kids to have so much fun. They love seeing Mrs. McGregor each morning and are always laughing and smiling with her. She also creates relationships with other students throughout the building and is sure to check in with them as many times as [snorts] she can. She goes above

and beyond to support our building, too. She is always willing to help with any projects and is a major reason why we have such an awesome community culture. She is always up for a laugh. So with that, I'm going to have you come up and we're going to give you your reward. [applause] [laughter] >> Congratulations. >> Thank you. [laughter] >> That's exciting. So congratulations. >> Thank you. >> Congratulations. >> Thank you. Congratulations. >> Next [clears throat] up, uh we have Rachel Underberg, uh counselor at TC Montgomery, is nominated by Kayn Notch. Rachel has been wonderful in helping two new counselors transition to the role. She answers all our questions and is willing to meet and go over additional information as needed. Not once have I ever felt like she was bothered by my need for

help or support. She's been awesome to collaborate with and has made my transition into TCU that much easier. Rachel is preparing to go on maternity leave, which means planning and prepping for the future sub while also doing her current duties. She's making sure she gets into all her K4 classrooms and does lessons while she's still in the building. She's responding to behavior calls and meeting one-on-one with students for check-ins and breaks. She's always busy, but still makes time to help others. Rachel is a huge asset to TCU. She's good with the students, helpful to the staff, and overall extremely easy to work with. [applause] >> She just [laughter] All right, next up we have Amanda Slott. The district nurse was nominated by Melena Krueger. Amanda goes above and beyond to make sure not only the

students as well as the staff's health needs are taken care of. I see Amanda going above what's expected and you can feel and see that when she cares for students. I think her work can go unnoticed, but she plays a huge role in each school's healthcare. Amanda cares for the students as if they were her own family member. Amanda is also supportive staff or support of the staff members and to others. Even in times I have seen her have a lot to take care of. Her attitude remained positive and calm. It would mean a lot for her to get recognized and I know she often goes unnoticed. AMANDA, [applause] >> there we >> congratulations. Congratulations, >> Rachel. I already read yours. >> Oh, okay. >> So, Rachel, you can stand up. [applause] CONGRATULATIONS. >> CONGRATULATIONS.

>> And then last one we have is Ethan Taylor, custodian of the center was nominated by Gab Johnson. It is with great appreciation and admiration that I nominate Ethan for employee of the month. Ethan consistently demonstrates an outstanding level of dedication and commitment to his work. Showing up every day eager to learn, grow, and contribute to making TCU the best it can be. His positive attitude and strong work ethic inspire those around him and set a wonderful example for example for the entire team. Ethan's care for our students is evident in everything he does. He always puts the kids first, whether it's ensuring our safety, maintaining a clean and welcoming environment or responding swiftly and thoughtfully to any emergency that arises. His ability to stay positive in critical situations goals with professionalism and his genuine

compassion for others. Not a lot of people will take the time to thank their boss, superintendent, and supervisors for investing time and money to help them to help build them up for not only TCU's future, but their own. And Ethan is one that does. He shows constant appreciation for his job, the people around him, and for what he has in his life. And it's a breath of fresh air when being around such a positive person. And I will say that the note that Ethan shared with us was about the most positive thing I've gotten since I've been superintendent. [snorts] So, without further ado, Ethan Taylor. [applause] Congratulations. >> Congratulations. >> Just everyone else. >> I know. [laughter] >> I know. >> Watch out for that one. [laughter] >> Congratulations. Congratulations. >> Congratulations. >> So again,

congratulations [clears throat] to all of our employees. [applause] >> Yeah. THANKS. >> All right. Next, we have the administrative reports. I have down activities and special ed. So, whoever wants to >> jump to the table first. Watch out for >> Yes. Be careful. All right. Well, thank you to the board for having me tonight. Um, in the world of special services, this the school year has started off pretty smoothly, which is great. Um, we do have some openings [snorts] right now for pair professionals. Those are positions we seem to um always be in need of. We've had some new students come into the district that require some supports. And so we're making sure that we can align um those supports with what the kids need. Um we also are looking for a nurse for Lndale.

That position was posted recently. We've had some applicants. So that's really great to see. And then we're looking for a a long-term sub for occupational therapist um serving in Lenter Center and Lndale. Um so we're on we're on the lookout for a candidate for that. Um hopefully we'll be able to find someone soon and and create a situation where there can be some shadowing and support and make it a smooth transition. Um this school year our special services staff received some training on a new program or platform called Able Space. It has um some really great features to help support progress monitoring and um data review, data collection specific to our students goals and objectives. It was a really great option for our staff because it pairs with programs that we're already using. Um, Sped

Forms is the platform we use for our IEP writing and evaluations and all of that and they sync together which has made data collection really slick for our staff. It um it graphs their data and can create some really great visuals for parents. So, we're really excited to have that platform at our teachers um disposal and our pair professionals are supporting our teachers in that data collection. So, it's been really great. um and will help us make better datadriven decisions as IEP teams and as instructional staff. So, we're really excited about that. Um staff will continue h to have training in that program over the course of the year. We have a training coming up on November 3rd and I've been really impressed with their support um through AbleSpace. They are literally available 24/7. Like

I get emails at 1:30 in the morning sometimes [cough] from them. So, um it's been really helpful for staff who have in the- moment questions that there's someone readily available to answer them. Um also helps to make sure that that platform is used, which we want. Um December 1st is our child count deadline. So, we're working on reviewing IEPs and evaluations, making sure that we have um up-to-date evaluations and IEPs that can be counted in our child count. as you all know that um is where our funding is driven from. We need that accurate child count to drive our um the funding that we receive for our students and to support their programming. Um right now we have currently 457 active students in sped form. So that's 457 students currently receiving special education services with

active IEPs just served within TCU. Um we also have around 20 initial evaluations that are open at this moment. So you know not all students who we evaluate qualify but we would anticipate um our our typical ratio is about 80% qualification because we really do utilize data when we're u making those evaluation decisions. And so we do have a high rate of students that that end up qualifying. Um, so that number will likely increase prior to that December 1st child count um, data poll. Something else I've been working on um, in partnership with Amanda actually and Jav um, Jesus is our cardiac emergency response plan grant application. That was um, kind of a big undertaking and it required us to pull information from um, our emergency responders in the communities. um facilities, nursing, all of

that, and look at our AEDs across our buildings, response time with regard to our AEDs. And we're developing an emergency response plan for that AED usage that can be practiced and um implemented across our communities within our buildings. Um the grant is requesting um about $15,000 for additional AEDs to be utilized for our athletic fields. um and also within our buildings to ensure we can have um a 3minut response time or less ideally if there was a cardiac um emergency event. So um we'll also be hoping to provide additional training for staff. When we looked at the number of staff who are currently CPR and AED trained um it was a pretty low number and so we have a target goal of 10% of staff within each building being trained in CPR and AED. um

response and so hopefully we'll get that grant. It is a competitive grant so we'll see. Um I don't really have a deadline for when we'll find out but probably within a couple of months. Um and then to just today actually I attended the MA billing fall training. MA billing is an important way that we can recoup some important funds for health related services that we provide within our schools. And so, um, my office coordinator, Sue Tupi, and I and Amanda Slottic generally attend those trainings so we can stay up to date on billing and making sure that we are, um, you know, billing to the maximum extent for the services we provide. And, um, those funds are typically used for really important um, devices and things for our students. So, communication devices, we have um,

students with mobility needs. So, we're we're purchasing adaptive bicycles. We're um purchasing adaptive seating that is needed and things like that with those funds. So, they're they provide really important um supplies and equipment for our students in the building. I think those are all the updates that I have for you. Does anyone have any questions for me? No. All right. Well, thank you. >> Thank you, members of the board. Um, first of all, I'd just like to say that I know uh I know sometimes it goes unrecognized because obviously we're educationbased and that is the most important thing, but um the things that happen here on a on an average day and week from 3:00 to 10:00 at night is is just unbelievable. And um this I'm very blessed to have this job. This is

this is a great job and I can't do it alone to be honest with you. And I appreciate what many of you guys have done, administrators that are sitting here, uh Jeb and his crew that constantly are helping me out. But uh in just the last eight days, we've had three times where we've had massive conflicts, state soccer going on, same day as section football, and many of you stepped up. So, I'm very thankful for all of you. We hosted the Big South Conference swim meet this weekend, same as same exact time as section football. I can't be both places. All right? and many of you stepped up and I'm very appreciative of that. Last week we had section home volleyball and we also had a concert. Can't be at both of them and many

of you stepped up for that. So I have a great job. Um, I I love this job, but uh I I can't do it alone. And I appreciate all the help that everybody helps and gives me to make things work. Cuz many of you know that hosting a a section football game and having five required people at state soccer, it takes a lot of people and it uh it doesn't go unnoticed. So, I want to go on record saying thanks to everybody. But just in summary of the fall, I guess I want to recognize a lot of our activities, um, some of our individuals, but, uh, just the overall things that go on. And, you know, everybody kind of jokes that we've kind of hit the end and I get a break, and it's not

true. [laughter] Um, I it may you may think that, but, it isn't. Um, >> that today. >> Yeah, it we did. We did. Um, but that is a credit to everything that we offer here. All the things that people do here, the success that we have, it's it's pretty unbelievable. We have 10 of our FFA kids leaving at 5:00 in the morning tomorrow for the national convention. It just doesn't end. It just keeps going. So, um, just to recognize, you know, I'm going to just go over our fall activities for the most part and just kind of talk about some highlights, but, uh, football season was four and six. Uh, we started out slow, obviously, and finished rather strong. Uh, winning our first section game in in some years. Um, lost out this Saturday to

Wasika. Played a very good game. I'm very proud of our boys. So, that was very good. But obviously to go along with football season was homecoming. We had parades in all three towns. That went over very well this year. We tried something different last year. Uh we went back to parades in all three towns. And again, it took a lot of people, a lot of people more than me just to make this to pull it off. And um it was a it was a great thing. Volleyball season finished 12 and 13. We lost first round of playoffs. We had a great year. Our team was academic allstate gold members. So we have a good team and a smart team. So that's a a two good a combination that we're very proud of. Boys soccer, which

we have one of our stars right here. But uh uh we're going to hang our fifth banner in a gym. This is the fifth time in TCU history we are a state tournament team. So boys soccer was that. Uh, weirdly enough, every sport decides on how they seed the state tournament. Some sports they seed 1 through eight. Some seed one through five and the rest randomly get drawn in. We wanted anywhere one to seven. We didn't want eight. And that's what we drew. I think our soccer players would tell you that. And um the number two team ranked in state, we lost to two to one. So we wanted to be there. We knew we could we were going to be in every game. We just didn't get the draw we wanted. Um but nothing

short of that. Our kids represented our town, our school remarkably. We had four uh parade of champions through all all the schools prior to them going to the state tournament. got rave reviews from every building about how well our soccer team behaved and held themsel and acknowledged every little twerp all the way to bigger kid. So that was very that was very nice. Um the boys finished Big South Conference champs. That was uh obviously a first for us since we've moved to the big the big South Conference. Um, we did lose the Holy Angels, but in the three games in the section tournament, we outscored our opponents 17-3 to to get to the state tournament. So, it just tells you we are that good. We our boys soccer is that good. Um, Angel is one

of our stars. If you follow boys soccer, you will know that he's one of the top 25 kids in the state of Minnesota. All classes, all levels. He's That's what he was. uh recognized for that award just this year. Um him and Cooper both made the all state team. Uh Angel was first team, Cooper was al was second team all state. That's not just conference. That's a pretty big recognition. Our girls soccer team finished uh five and seven and three. They were the number four seed. We hosted a section tournament game for the uh third year since we've started girls soccer. We unfortunately lost that that game two to one, but uh we're getting home games in girls soccer in a program that we've had for 5 years. So we we're doing a lot of

things right. Um Lepita was recognized all conference and second team all state. So that's a pretty big recognition for Lepita as well. uh tennis team. This was the first year that uh tennis switched to a three class system and football is seven classes. Some sports are four classes, [cough and clears throat] some are two. Last year it was two. Our first round opponents were Lakeville North and Rochester Mayo. So this year we kind of we were blessed to get into a three class system. Um it put us in teams a little bit more compare comparable. We beat Simley first round. We got our first ever section, our first section uh win in tennis since I've been here. We um like I say, we beat Simley first round, lost in Northfield second round, so our team

finished in the top four in the sections. Uh Ellie Adams won her first round match in tennis and got into the final eight. Uh she lost out second round, but Lexi Burgerer and Christina Cruz won their first two rounds and got into the final four in doubles. So, pretty big recognition for them. Again, academically, our girls tennis team made academic all-state gold. So, uh a pretty good recognition for them. Uh swimming, like I said, we had the Big South Conference meet this year. We have 15 teams in the Big South and we're one of three. Uh we finished third, but uh that's just the way that works. But, uh, again, recognition for you guys and and, uh, TCU for the opportunities we offer kids when there's 15 teams in a conference when we're one of

only three. Uh, Marshall and St. Peter are the other two. The other 12 don't even have a swimming team. So, pretty big recognition for us. Uh no we we did have uh Ella Schmezing was all conference and two events and Lily Traxxer was honorable mention and she took second in diving uh sections for that is next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday down in Rochester. So we are just getting ready to start winding up our fall sports while we are already going into winter. Uh cross country finished the season last week in uh Mano. Grant Fitter finished 21st in the boys. He was our our highest finisher. We did not have enough girls to even have a a full-fledged team this year. So, um that was obviously one thing we have to work on. Um like I

said, the national convention is going on with the FFA. So, we just will be sending a crew of our kids out. We are full force into the fall musical which will take place the 21st, 22nd, and 23rd. Coming up of next month, uh next Monday, we send our entire choir to uh new for the Big South Choir Festival. So, that's a a pretty big event for us. Dance started two weeks ago. Choreography and uh practice last week, girls hockey started today. We have seven girls members of the hockey team that got going today. And then as we get into a week or two from now, we will get into wrestling, boys and girls hoops and weightlifting and uh what am I missing here? Boys hockey because they're a couple weeks behind. So, it's uh it's

a great place. It's a busy place. A lot going on. you can't find something to do, that's your fault. [laughter] There's there's enough going on. So, that's what I have for fall moving into winter activities and recognition of our athletes and participants in all of our activities. >> Questions from anyone? >> Thank you. We can have a break now. >> What's that? >> I'm glad you can have a break. >> Yeah. [laughter] >> No, thanks for all your >> Yes. Thanks for all you do. >> All right. Next, I'll seek a motion to approve [clears throat] the agenda. >> I'll make the motion. >> Awesome. [clears throat] >> I have a motion by Marcia Craft, seconded by Chris Lesock to approve the agenda. All those in favor? >> I. Those opposed? Motions pass 6. Under

the consent agenda, we have approval of minutes from the September 22nd, 2025 board meeting. Under personnel, we have employment ending. Paige Smeec, Smeishek, uh, kids zone rap paraprofessional. Stacy Zinke, kitchen helper. Elizabeth Marson, paraprofessional. Tim Acres, technology network assistants. Gabby Caliguri, paraprofessional. Melena Krueger, health personnel. Kendra Miller, paraprofessional. Jade Capone, assistant wrestling coach. Under new hires, we have uh Kendra Miller, kids zone worker. Patty Whitehurst, counselor, long-term sub, Montgomery. Melissa Gtle, assistant dance coach. Elizabeth Marson, kids zone. Thomas Acresström, custodian maintenance. Don Marcus, junior high basketball coach. Greg, building engineer high school. Jamie Dre, long-term subly center. Alyssa Cutner, long-term subly center. Terresa Gtle, kitchen helper high school. Under lease of leave of absence, we have Lisa Spikers, paraprofessional. Approval in the amount approval of bills in the amount of $1,119,631.37 for fiscal year 26

October prepaid fiscal year October paid fiscal year 25 October paid and fiscal year 26 September student activities paid. I'll seek a motion to approve the consent agenda. >> I'll make a motion. >> I'll second. I have a motion by [cough] Trevor Hone, second by Susie [clears throat] Rip to approve the consent agenda. All those in favor? I. >> Those opposed? >> Motions pass 6. No open forum. It looks like student school board report. >> Hi guys. >> Hello. >> Um, you introduced yourselves first. I know you were here last time, but we haven't. >> I'm Ju. I'm Jules Roder and Yeah, Phelps >> and we're the president and vice president for student council, making us the student school board representatives. I've been doing this for three years and I'm having a lot of fun with

it so far. So, um just kind of going down the list, we had our lettering breakfast from the spring semester of last year. Um that was when was that, Mr. Critter? >> Last Thursday. We had we had donuts and stuff and that was that went well. Um [snorts] for student council, we have the blood drive tomorrow. Um we we filled all of our slots. We um actually right when we had the median with the blood drive reps. Um we asked for more slot more blood slots right away. So we have 63 blood slots and they filled all of them which is great. So hoping hoping to blow our goals out of the water like last time. Five more a half hour ago. >> What? >> You just got five more slots. >> We got five

more slots half an hour ago. >> Um, and we're also doing boo for your booth, which is just like people students can send little bags of candy to each other and write a little message to them. Just a just a couple little fun things that student council does. Um, we had a meeting with Mr. Babcock the other day and um things that we've been thinking about and considering are what are students more appreciative of and then we're considering asking students to get responses from people who are not as involved in activities or clubs that we would be like regularly talking to. Um then also just thinking about inclusion, innovation, and community were the top three things he was talking about. Um on Wednesday, Mr. Babcock is taking us to the MSBA student school board development

event. Um, we're excited for that. That's been that was really fun the past two years, so I'm looking forward to it. Um, we had a duck cup speaker. He shared his own story and he left a large portion of time for Q&A, which led to a lot of great student discussion. And then we also had the Secretary of State of Minnesota speaker and he encouraged students to vote when they can and a lot of great questions were asked there as well. Um, NHS helped at the Lawn at the Lawndale Public Library Halloween event. That that was really fun. We wore costumes and helped with games and they really appreciated it. And a lot of pe a lot of people that came commented on how good the volunteers were with the kids and that was great

to see. Um, the quarter ends on October 31st, so everyone's rushing to get grades in and making sure their grades are good and all of that. Um BPA had their pizza median where we pick our events that we're going to compete with and that went really good. Yeah. >> Well, um not a ton of people. The club isn't particularly large, but it is good. Um involvement really fun night, so that was good. >> Yeah. >> And then um Chad went over a lot of this, but just the soccer recap. Um we were the section champions this year. And moving on to state, sadly played Holy Angels in the first round. They did beat us 8-1. We were one of four goals scored against them this season, though, which is great. Um, opportunity for next year.

We know what it's like. Hopefully, we'll be in that same spot, but maybe not that eight seed. It's exciting. >> What did you share with me? How the team felt? >> Good. Um, we were scared to play Holy Angels, that's for sure. We knew what we were getting into, but uh gotta do it. So things are tough sometimes, but no, we it was it was good good energy after the game. Just really appreciative for such a good season. We're really excited about next year. >> Um seniors are finishing up applications for colleges during free application month of October. So everyone's getting those in at the last second. Um, as a member of the Kashki Royalty, we're planning to do um, royal readers this winter because we don't have as have as many events going on

November, December. So, we're hoping to get a couple of those royal readers in. And we want to try and branch out just to not just do reading books to them, but like doing games with them and helping them with class and just being there a little a little bit for them to like just kind of interact with us and do some fun stuff with them. Um, we saw a lot of participation and support from students during homecoming week, which was amazing because something that I've always noticed is that whenever we do games in the gym or any kind of activity, it's like you have to really bug students to like participate in it. But so far this year, we've seen a lot of great participation and support from students. There were so many students at

all the games during homecoming week and that was that went really well. Um, and then just one more thing is that student council members are going to be helping the life skills class. They're selling popcorn on Halloween as part of their life skills class and student council members are helping them out with that. So yeah, kind of it for now. >> Perfect. >> Questions for two students? >> I'm just curious, the soccer team, how many people are returning next year? How many I guess how many seniors? Um, between all three teams, I think we had four or five actual seniors. Of starters, that's two. >> Okay. >> So, not not too bad of damage. >> Yeah. >> Great. Thank you. Thank you guys. >> Thank you. >> All right. Uh, enrollment update. >> All right.

Enrollment update. Click on that real quick. So, down a little bit. This like every year we go up and down during this time. Uh we have some uh students that went to online which is natural for this time. Uh and we're at that migrant time of the year too where we have students that come in um help out our local farmers and businesses. So uh some of those have moved on and then just a couple through homeschooling. Otherwise we're just kind of in an up and down trend right now and that'll settle once we get closer to January, February. So other than that uh I think most of it came out of [cough] DC Montgomery [clears throat] as to where these folks came from. So other than that, it's pretty consistent across the board for

your year. Nothing nothing overwhelming at this point. >> It happens every October. >> Yeah. So like I said, we'll see where that dust really settles when we get to January, February. So all right, then MSBA conference. There's a video on here. >> Yeah. >> All right. Hopefully we can pull that without a hitch. short and sweet. >> Yeah. So, um, as these guys all know up here, so the school board through MSBA, there's conference every year to get school boards to get together outside of the normal means, uh, these meetings, um, and really share some things that are highlighting around our table, uh, but also to get together to hear things from different people through the state national entity, uh, to obviously move us forward. This year's focus, as you see, is really truly on

students, uh, which is really cool. since I've been in this role. I don't know if that's been like the main main theme uh which I think is really unique. U really excited to uh see where that goes. Um and then of course get as many uh board members as we can on that. So if you do make sure you reach out to Brenda, she'll sign you up if you want to stay. Um she'll sign you up for that as well. U but I really like the the theme that they have [snorts] this year. There's a couple really good keynote speakers in there that are uh pretty well known across the the country too that are speaking on behalf of growing students and what we can do to um I guess seal move them along academically

and then social emotionally. So really excited to see what that looks like this year. Should be a good conference. >> They do a great job with the conference. So if you can make it, I definitely encourage yall to go. [snorts] >> So this first year they had a little promotional video which was kind of fun. So um but yeah, it should be a good time. Great. >> All right. Moving on to committees. Uh, we got facilities. >> Got that one. >> Uh, sure. [laughter] >> You guys over there. >> Yeah. Well, we have a capital project that hopefully we can pass here. Hopefully you guys have heard of that. Uh, we had a good meeting with Jab last week. He caught us up on a lot of things that uh are happening around the district.

a lot of things that uh most of our citizens taxpayers don't see, but a lot of talk is obviously with the bond referendum that uh yeah, we're a week away from it. So really that's it. There's a lot of talk about that. Is there something else you want to add besides that? >> I think that's about it. >> Obviously we have a meeting tonight, tomorrow in here tonight, tomorrow in Londale uh our open houses. So yeah, that's the hot topic obviously facilities. Yeah, the biggest thing is just go vote. Uh, and obviously facilities is already having conversations about some things that may need to go if if it does go through. So, it's a lot of lot of work behind the scenes.
