001e good evening and welcome to the 2020 National Junior Honor Society induction ceremony my name is Courtney wagan and Miss D and I are proud to serve as co-sponsors of big hollow's chapter of the National Junior Honor Society please stand as you are able and welcome our choir members in singing the national anthem you see by the early light what so proudly we at the Twilight last GLE and bright star through the or the rampes we watch so gaming Rock the sing [Music] in through the that our FL was still there oh starled [Music] for the of the and the of [Music] the we are gathered here to formally recognize the students who have been selected by our Big Hollow faculty to be inducted as new members of the National Junior Honor Society our chapter
002is proud to begin our third year inducting students into njhs we will continue to represent our school and Community with an emphasis on Excellence throughout the year members of our chapter will serve as role models for other students in addition to their strong academic records which establish their eligibility for membership our chapter members are leaders in many student organizations and they serve our school and community Through many activities we are proud to recognize these accomplishments ments and welcome these new members who bring new energy in support of our goals as njhs members it is at this time that we Proclaim to all in attendance that membership in the Big Hollow Middle School chapter of the National Junior Honors Society has been earned by these candidates through the effective demonstration of the five qualities that serve
003as standards for the society our chapter officers will now review these qualities for the candidates we begin with scholarship scholarship denotes a commitment to learning a student is willing to spend hours in reading and study knowing the lasting benefits of a cultivated mind we should continue to learn even when formal education has ended for human education ends only with the end of life knowledge is one great element in life which leads to the highest success and it can be acquired in only one way through diligence and effort learning furnishes the lamp by which we read the past the torch guiding us to understand the present and the light that illuminates the future candidates have the charge to continually expand their world through opportunities inherent in scholarship the next pillar is service [Applause] service can be
004established in the routine of the day's work where many opportunities arise to help others both at school and in the community a willingness to work for the benefit of those in need without monetary compensation or public recognition is the quality we seek in our membership and promote for the entire student body we are committed to volunteering our time and talents for the creation of a better tomorrow the next pillar up is leadership is the third pillar of njhs leadership is taking charge and willing to be the one to take the challenge in times of need leaders would be willing to stand up in any circumstance whether it be in class in his after school activity or at home a leader should be able to help all people to reach success you need to be able
005to help others before you help yourself the first step in building a community of some kind is to establish a great leader or leader ERS even in njhs the five of us were all leaders new njhs officers get voted in every year so be ready to go for it leadership is needed everywhere and is a very important part of life we want these njhs students to be the ones who stand up to meet challenges and not to hesitate when someone needs to step up to the plate they they should be ready and prepared to lead at all times the next pill pillar is character character is the force within an individual that distinguishes each person from the others for each of us it creates our individuality our goodness it is that without which that no
006one can respect oneself nor hope to attain respect of the others is the force of character that guides one through life and once developed grows steadily within character is achieved and not received it is the product of constant thought and action the daily striving to make the right choice the problem of character is the problem of self-control by demonstrating such qualities as respect responsibility trustworthiness fairness caring and citizenship we may hope to prove by example that we value character the next pillar is citizenship I represent citizenship the obligations each member of our society faces to live up to the democratic ideals given to us by the founders of our country the responsibilities each of us has to our home Community our state our nation and our world are many as good citizens we are bound
007to live up to the laws and guidelines which unite us as a civilized society good citizens work together to improve not only our lives but the lives of all our fellow citizens good citizenship requires that we remain strong and Vigilant in protecting the freedoms and rights that have been granted to us and in preventing Injustice from entering Our Lives we the members of the chapter are called to live up to the high standards of citizen ship from this day forward it is my great honor to pass the Baton to this year's eighth [Applause] graders at this time will the new inductees please rise raise your right hand and recite with me our njhs pledge I pledge to uphold the high purposes of the National Junior Honor Society to which I have been selected I will
