001all right we're back into open session will everyone stand for the pledge i pledge allegiance to the flag of the united states of america and to the republic for which it stands one nation under god indivisible hearing time can i please have a motion to enter the budget meeting for the 2020-2021 budget exactly joe and tiffany yes yes yes yes yes all right in the uh hearing i've got a couple documents i want you to look at as we prepare the first one is exhibit one is the expenditure history so i'd like to show you this one each year you can go back to 2011-12 and just kind of see our pattern just i know i remind you this each year but just remember the last the 2020-21 numbers are a bit inflated because we

002budget a certain amount with hopes of spending uh in the 92 to 94 is what i'm hoping i'd love this year i'd like to go lower if we can um but you can see all the the 1920 numbers are are fairly accurate we still have an audit we're finishing up but they'll be really close to that so you can see how our expenditures and revenue have take gone over time in all those funds the uh i put in the one note i put on this one is number the note number three says the o m revenue for last year does not include the land sale because if i threw it in there it would five years from now when you're looking at this you might forget why do we have so much money that year

003i just want to make that note in there so that i'm sorry that money is going to be going to be in o m it is an o m yes i just wanted to show you this is cash yeah okay yeah it's it's in the o m right now we can move it whenever it's just sitting there in our in our bank it's actually all in one big fund and then uh in our books it's showing up in o m but we can move it to working cash we can we can move it to transportation education or working cash we wanted to the exhibit 2 is end of year fund balance report again go back to 2011 and you can follow each fund down and just see what the balance has been and again the

0042021 the 2021 numbers are gonna are going to look bad on paper right now by the end of the year we hope to show you a different number you can see last year the 2020 line there fairly steady across the board no no nothing that should have been it should be alarming for uh based on what we budgeted for last year so in here you can tell that the two million dollars is in yes and here that the yeah you can see where the o m balance went up to 3.3 that so that two million is in there um so with our so our budget this year you can see if you look at the the last two numbers of each column the 2020 and 2021 numbers you'll see the uh the budgeted deficit or

005revenue in each one i would i would tell you that in the education fund we're going to be when i look at the the budget itself which i tell you what it'll be easier for me to do this if i look if we turn to exhibit 3 exhibit three and it would be the uh the second page of exhibit three so there should be you should see a spreadsheet there and line 22 of that spreadsheet if you follow line 22 across it lists each each fund and if it's in red it's projecting a deficit in that fund um i'm not concerned about o m it's projecting a deficit of 115 000. that's again with the with the with the padding that we have in there i think that that's going to end up in the

006black unless we have and this could happen this year unless we have significant expenses uh that we weren't planning for but it could happen with some of the kovitz stuff we're dealing with on that line while i mention well i'm thinking of it we what i what i don't have in here because i don't know yet how much money it's going to be is we are going to get some cares act funding through the county i heard a month ago it was fifty thousand and now i heard last week that it could be over a hundred thousand so we'll use that money to purchase uh coveted related safety items for the buildings when we bring kids on so that's not figured in the budget as revenue or but it is triggered as expense i did

007i did put about 40 or 50 000 at an expense but i didn't know what kind of revenue we're getting and i didn't want to put it in here unless i know for sure i'm getting it so i figured play it worst case scenario um transportation line looks looks or let me go back to education fund sorry education fund if we if we spend in the if we can hold our expenses to around 90 we should be we should be okay in that fund as far as we shouldn't deficit spend but the the one thing that's a big uh question mark is we don't know for sure yet what's coming from the state right now they've they've projected that we are going to get the same thing we got last year and before covet hit

008we were set to get a couple hundred thousand dollars more than that but when covet hit the economy the state's economy just went to pot and so we we were told that that we will get basically their temporary budget are you hearing me okay okay the uh um where's that here oh that this the temporary budget is that they will give us exactly what we got last year so that's what they've told us at this point um but the carrot they're kind of holding over us is that if the graduated income tax that he's that they're trying to get past if that passes then they feel like the budget's gonna be what they said it would but if it doesn't pass then they anticipate some big cuts so this could look a lot differently at

009the end of the year if we don't get that so that's that's what i want to make sure you're aware of we just don't we don't know right now and that's why with the transportation fund you see that's a pretty big negative number um it's because i didn't want to budget for the revenue because i'm not confident we're going to get it from the state if we get it it's going to be a plus but if we don't it's it's going to look it's not going to look very good so we'll have to one thing i'm going to have to do i think for the tax levy i've been levying a little more in o m and and more than we actually need so we can shift some of that over to transportation so we

010can balance it out a little bit but and then we're capital projects is another one we did some projects this summer we did some construction projects and that comes out of this directly the uh i'll in the um later in the presentation in the board meeting i'll talk about the uh the development that's coming in uh over behind home depot that is gonna bring in some uh some revenue that i did not account for in here because i didn't find out until uh just recently well last week but then i also don't know when exactly it's going to come so they increased the uh impact fees for that development from 40 000 to 400 000 and they said that we're gonna get half of it up front i just don't know when that is so

011i don't know if that'll fall in this budget year or not so but if that comes in then that's but money that i didn't budget for here so that's all i have for the budget hearing later in the board meeting we will vote to approve the budget but does anybody have any questions on anything so your your budget for education fund is based off what we got and not what we're expecting to get you're saying they were saying they were going to give a couple hundred thousand more yeah that's not based on that okay it's based off based on what they're telling us now okay still could go down further if we don't he basically passed a half year budget and until it gets to the election and then so right now we are getting

012checks just like we did last year same amount every month and it's supposed to continue um where i think what i think could happen if that if the graduated income tax doesn't pass because that's what they're putting their cards in for if that doesn't pass i think it's possible that we'll still get our state payments they might skip the last one which would be a couple hundred thousand dollars and then i think i think that they would i'm just i'm speculating here but i think the other thing that we would not get is the what's called the mandated categoricals which is our transportation payments our special ed payments special ed payments go right into the 10 fund the transportation payments obviously go into 40. so those are the those are the payments we're supposed to

013get four every year they're already behind one and it's easy for them to say we don't have the money and they just skip another payment so then we then we're behind another one and they say they'll eventually make them up and sometimes they do but it could take years for that to happen so so yeah if that doesn't pass that's something i see possibly happening i just want to i want to be upfront about it prepare you for it because i don't i don't know and then i think that we'll know more february march when we have to make staffing decisions for next year we'll know more the good thing is is that our fund balances are good enough that we're not worried about cash flow or anything like that we're in a position where

014we can take a hit for a year or two and still be okay but we've got to be smart too so and we are spending money this year that we didn't anticipate because of the situation where we've purchased some things that were you know that were just we wouldn't have done had we not been in this situation with the trying to get the virtual learning up to par and everything like that so any other questions are we saving any money anywhere with not being in school yeah we are there are some areas where we are because so and i've i've tried to be with the budget i've tried to act like we're not because i just don't want to but i want to plan for worst case scenario but uh there there's definitely places that

015like we've had two we've had two pair these are small numbers but we've had two pair of pros that took voluntary furloughs we've had so there's some savings there there's uh we're not going to spend the money we spend on food service but there's also money that we're revenue we're not getting for food service but um there's uh transportation we're not putting gas in the in the buses right now so there's there's money that's not being spent we're not doing extra trips we're not you know we're not doing you know there's a lot of money in transportation but i actually budged it as if we were doing it still so yeah there's definitely some savings in some areas i would say our utilities should be seeing savings because we're not you know we're not using

016the buildings like we would normally use them anybody else have a question nope i can i please have a motion to close the budget hearing motion second tiffany yes yes yes uh does anybody have anything to add to the agenda can i please have a motion to approve the agenda motion second peter yes yes yes yes item seven board member code of conduct review any volunteers sure all right i will respectfully listen to those who communicate with the board seeking to understand their views while recognizing my responsibility to represent the interests of the entire community all right anybody have any questions on the consent agenda nope okay please have a motion to approve the consent agenda motion second dragon joel yes yes yes yes yes yes can we get any public comments superintendent's report mr

017gold all right uh we're going to introduce some staff members so i'm gonna have matt cue this up we did something a little different rather than bring all the new teachers in they're doing a uh they did a video introduction for each of you so i'm gonna pull uh up real quick and okay i'm going to skip to the next one uh while math getting that ready the uh this one it's in the in the packets you'll see the teachers that we have uh who've received tenure beginning 2020-21 school year so james buckwalter stephanie colada donna crutch corey dudaki warwick kelly pollark val reil and nicole wilhelm a very strong group right there and that's a group that just attained tenure this past year congratulations yep yes like i like how you added the photos

018so you can actually see there yeah yes it was nice to be like oh yes yes so then you can kind of see who they are so that's that's in the slides there and i'm gonna i'm gonna keep going here uh monthly board policy review any questions on five 170 to 200 okay and then we had on item d we had uh press plus uh two different uh groups here five or 104 and 105 policy revisions a lot of policies here that we've gone through the policy committee met last week and my recommendations are in red are in red there any questions on that one because we'll need a voice vote to approve that all right i'll let kevin take it all right can i please have a motion to prove the recent board policy

019update on first reading motion the oppose is are you ready matt i'm going to keep going you got it no the whole drive i'm gonna keep going here the return to school task force update um the last this past week we met with uh we had our first task force committee meeting that's with grant fox lake gavin and so grant fox lake gavin who am i missing lake villa and big hollow so i would say there are 40 to 50 people on the call and we just really kevin was there it was i think we i felt like we kind of shoveled a lot of information out wasn't a lot of time for a lot of dialogue which i felt bad about we've got another meeting scheduled soon the from big hollow there are two

020parents there's a teacher or two teachers we have a nurse a couple administrators kevin and myself tomorrow night at seven i have a pandemic planning committee meeting via zoom and that will be a a group that is only big hollow and i feel like uh we will be able to talk a little more in depth about how we can start taking steps forward so i guess i just want you to know that we are we're planning and we're working through some details and we want to talk like tomorrow night we'll talk a little more into the weeds with this group this this committee tomorrow night we'll have we've met before we've met probably i think we've met twice already but i've now added about 10 parents to the committee because we when we asked for

021volunteers for that task force i had about 12 to 14 parents that asked to be on it but i only had two seats so i went ahead and and really though pretty much the the whole group had some good ex some good like occupational experience that could be valuable to what we're trying to deal with here so i just took i invited all of them to be on the pandemic planning committee so um uh so yeah that's that's gonna be tomorrow night um and we're just like i said this afternoon even our administrative team spent the district administrative team spent about two hour and a half to two hours just kind of planning and talking about some obstacles and things we're trying to work through the idph guidelines continue to be adjusted i think they're

022finding like i talked to districts downstate that are in session and they've really chosen just not to follow the guidelines the the couple that i've talked to and uh you know i i kind of approached our health department with you know i'm like hey this is what they're thinking this is how they're what they're doing and they they steer me right back to the governor's declaration that says we can open under the guidelines of the idph which is really that's what ties our hands uh but um there are districts that are opening that some of the obstacles that that i really felt like were obstacles like the uh uh the one symptom and you're out to me is a really big obstacle uh you know if i if i've got a if johnny's got a

023runny nose johnny's out for 10 days johnny's siblings are out for 10 days and or they can come back with a doctor's note that says they've got an alternative diagnosis that's a big out because that's going to cause a lot of problems if i get any teachers who have a child at home that has a symptom they can't come themselves so there's that to me is a big out um but you know i think if uh from what i'm hearing with districts that are trying to open at least like a little bit they're just messaging really hard to parents do not send kids to school with any kind of any one of these symptoms because it does cause a train wreck of problems and and parents because they don't want to from what i'm hearing

024is that you know if we message it right parents are willing to really comply because they don't want us to go back to where we're at now because that's what happens we just we have to shut it down again and so uh so yeah we're working through all this and trying to figure out what if we can take what i'm calling some baby steps forward and try to get kids back here for at least part part of the time so i want you to know we're not just sitting back right now we're really trying to figure out what our next steps can be first and then we'll worry about when so um so that's that's where we're at but we have another we wouldn't we won't uh announce anything until after our next task force

025meeting which is uh i think the 24th of september and at that point we might you know might be ready to say we're ready to move forward i don't know if you want to have another you can tell me what your preference would be if you want we can schedule like a special board meeting where we can just talk about it as a group because it might be that whatever plans we have going for it might be different than what we talked about before so i feel like i should we should kind of get together and talk about it i don't want to i want to make sure that you're good with what we decide to do so i'd be i mean we can i'll i'll message you by the end of the week here

026maybe we can if we think that something could happen maybe we'll schedule a special board meeting later in the month yeah i think that'd be good yeah okay i would like that if we could just okay yeah yeah and we'll definitely be messaging out like i would anticipate doing some uh presentations to parents and some zoom zoom calls and things like that too so all right so that's kind of where we're at matt you ready all right we'll go back to that first item then oh okay hi my name is ashley austin i'm the new elementary el teacher i have been working with the learners for the past five years and i'm excited to continue that journey as part of the big hallow team thank you so much district 26 as a sixth grade teacher

030i've enjoyed the all right i think that's our crew there so cool that's our crew of new teachers so um i'm gonna now we're next uh scott whipple's gonna be up for uh middle school grading procedures adjustments so we had a curriculum committee meeting we met and scott shared some things with that committee that we also want to share with the full board so i'm going to let him take it over you can just come up front there scott if you want you're fine yeah that's good oh my gosh okay so um i'll talk a little bit about i talked with that community as bob said that i want to share some of the things that we're going to be doing here in middle school moving forward as a self-community which comprises more teachers that

031are not on a team but other teachers that want to be a part of that and we did some work aligning some of our practices to better practices the reason we want to do this we want to accurately reliably and effectively efficiently communicate learning to teachers parents and students and sticking to that model of believing in higher standards so really some of the work that we've done over the past couple years is that in 2016 when i walked through the doors of principal i noticed that we didn't have an overall system of waiting practices here and so what that meant is that teachers at no fault of theirs were creating their own ways of establishing practices were in each classroom and what i noticed that classroom or um to teacher so it kind of became

032confusing as to what constituted an a or if he had each grade or each level because it was each teacher had their own system of grieving we also were including behaviors into that so one of the things the common one was if a student missed a deadline we would take 10 that off inaccurately reporting a student's grade of what they've learned but that that part that responsibility is still important but it shouldn't be reported all right okay so we were trying to find ways to accurately make sure that we're reporting on what students know based on skills and standards versus reporting out uh having those intermixed within the grading so in 2017-18 we did a book study it was called a repair kit for grades 15 fixes for broken grades by ken o'connor he's a

033big educational guru more specifically around grading and grading practices the leadership team then decided we were going to implement some of those practices into place so in 2018-19 we as a grade level we picked one or two things that we're going to do at each grade level i think i can't remember exactly but i remember one team decided to do no extra credit so we took out extra credit but really focused on how does the student show their learning a little bit more versus here's a worksheet go fill this out and i'll give you 10 extra credit points we focus it more along the lines of exceeding the current standard or the expectation the assignment um and then within that this year we this past year we did align some common practices we focused on

03480 for overall weight for summative assessments and then 20 on formative assessment and then we um implemented a couple fixes um from the book one was we took out extra credit um another one we took out reporting out zeros the reason why is that when zeros drastically drop students grades if you look at it a 100 point scale 0 to 59 is a 60 point scale of an f versus an a is only 11 points it can do to get an a so we felt by reporting out at a 50 at least did not drastically overall impact the students grade that would drop them so far that they wouldn't be able to recover but it still represented that they didn't do what they should have done or meet that that target of achieving we did

035this school-wide book study this year and this past summer i did some of the work that i'm going to talk about in the next slide here so in the next slide it's kind of an overview again we're still sticking with the 80 20 80 weight of that summative really understanding what students know this isn't always a test it could be a project could be any kind of assessment that really shows what a student knows throughout all of the practice they did all the feedback they get it comes down to really representing what a student knows and some of the informative assessment comes down to that that's kind of like a checkpoint along the way of how well students are doing along with the practice along with the feedback and those can change and they can

036be very fluid as students show more learning along the way one of the major changes that you'll see from a parent side is that all grades will be reported out or marks i should call them assignments will be graded out of 10 points and we're gonna be heavy on our language here at school talking about our performance indicators or descriptors which are exceeds meets beginning approaching and incomplete we have five marks and that's the language we will use in school when we talk with our students so really focus on feedback but as a parent you'll see assignments that will be from five to ten and then again those five to ten will correspond to a grade we haven't gotten to a part yet of changing up skyward is yet to make it represent those descriptors

037we've talked about so there's kind of a transition so what you'll see at home five to ten what students will talk about so that language will match here at school and when you're talking to your child at home um some other things that we've changed up is that learner characteristics we feel that there are learner characteristics that are important for student achievement student success but again these are behaviors that necessarily should not be reported out as far as what a student knows towards a standard or skill but it's important for you as a parent and the child and the teachers to know how well that student is doing around these learning characteristics within that class so those will be reported again the learning characteristics will be out of 10 and they'll get feedback along the

038way and those will come out at the end of every month starting this month to kind of show you exactly how well your student is doing some of the things are work habits digital accountability i can't think of the other one participation all of these are different things that will be reported out homework there will be a homework column that'll be formative practice now formative practice and formative assessment are two different things form of practice is exactly what it is we want to make sure that students have plenty of opportunity to practice this skill this could be homework this could be class work this could be class discussions but we want to make sure that students it's kind of like you compare it to sports a student makes mistakes during practice it doesn't impact them

039over on their overall performance in a game so we want to make sure that students have time for practice but it doesn't impact how much they know and are able to learn that's why we do those formative assessments to get the kind of the checkpoint on how well students are doing throughout the class that homework column or that formative practice is out of zero points and it has a weight of zero which means it will have no overall impact on a student's grade however and sorry not no however but you as a parent will know if your student is working on that practice or not so it will be reported out either as a zero as complete which is kind of backwards but is the best way we can make it work in skyward it'll

040be a zero or it would be an asterisk if it's an asterisk means that it's just hasn't been turned in all of that will be counted as no count and if it's missing and it's able to be made up the teacher will check missing and go to the top of their account in skyward so they'll know they'll have to make that up as practice as part of getting to those better summative informative grades students will need to work on that missing assignment to do better last thing we had this in a little bit in place last year retakes and redos it wasn't a formalized practice we had teachers dabbling a little bit differently but as a subcommittee we came up with what we feel will be a simpler easier process if a student doesn't do

041well on an assessment they communicate with their teachers they fill out the form and that form really is about reflection where did they make their mistakes what errors did they make on the assessment they can identify that maybe they didn't do as much practice as they should have done so they'll work with the teacher either to get new practice make a practice they didn't do or just have simple conversations with teachers in order to identify what they need to make up and they'll be able to retake that assessment so that this way we have a consistent process across the board for all students to retake and redo assessments and so lastly just really there's talking about communication like i said we i'm pretty excited because we did our first podcast um me and mr buck

042walter so that'll be coming out soon just really talking about the why we're doing this work we're going to keep adding to those that series to kind of help parents understand some of the practices we're doing i'll be putting out a cheat sheet for parents that kind of list some of the things they should be seeing in skyward and understanding some of the language that we're using within school and then also i'm doing a quick presentation and i've been trying to narrow it down because it was like 15 to 20 minutes long and i knew i'd bore people with that so best i could do is 10 minutes so we're gonna have to go with the 10 minute little presentation so that should be coming out very soon so people can start seeing what to

043expect in the skyward any questions i don't talk fast but okay item g is the analysis of enrollment and you'll see in exhibit 15 our enrollment history we we did go down significantly this year i knew that we would hit a drop because we had parents choose to home school or a private school option so but we went down just over 100 in a year's time so that's a significant drop for us the second grade was the one that caught me off guard but uh so that's that is what it is now it's possible that that will go up i knew i figured kindergarten would be short uh because i think if i had a kindergarten child who was on the edge of age-wise i'd probably choose to wait a year as well given the

044circumstances so um how many did we come in to screen how many were screened in kindergarten i don't i don't know exactly i don't know how many we screened um i do know that we didn't screen until uh closer to the school year this year looks like third grade enrollment increased yeah yeah and you know the interesting thing was uh we we hired a third grade and a fourth grade teacher late in the year late right before school started and i was considering trying to hold off maybe just for budget purposes because i didn't know how many kids were coming back and at the time a lot of parents hadn't registered so we got on the phone and called and the parents and i just targeted those two grade levels because we were making a

045determination whether to hire a teacher or not we called and the parents said they just they were going to register so we went ahead and hired the positions and then it was second grade that didn't well they didn't come back so second grade went from 178 last year to 155 this year that's a full class drop so we'll have to really keep an eye this will be this will impact staffing for next year eighth grade lost eleven two which grade eighth grade yeah yeah so um that was this the uh there was a surprise there i kindergarten did not surprise me second grade did i didn't i didn't see that one coming being that that many so we start getting into that that loss of kids does impact staffing um then the uh the next

046page shows you on exhibit 16 you'll see a uh what the class sizes are and you can see in second grade we're very small third grade fourth grade looked good first grade looks good kindergarten actually is uh 20 21 so it's it's where we want it as well we ended up you can see our number of kindergarten teachers we we are one short but we so we are not overstaffed in kindergarten we didn't we were going to hire another teacher but the numbers just didn't show us we didn't hire that position and then middle school you can see this middle school schedule and in bold prints next to the course sections you'll see the class size in bold print so most middle school class sizes if you have been on the board a while you'll

047remember there were years where we were 30 to 35. so we're down in the 20 to 27 range the epic classes are smaller or i'm sorry the uh well the epics are smaller but there's uh the rotations the specialist classes are smaller as well with the way they've got the scheduling this year so that's our enrollment update i am going to have mr whipple jump up again and give a quick update on the conference here you go um just a little bit of information so diana colby is our new athletic director and she's been meeting with the conference so um what the conference has come up with it was an alternative schedule for some of the elect for the sports this this year try to get all the sports in um one thing i'm not

048sure of that i i didn't check with um is if we're still in this remote part learning kind of thing across the board i got to double check i think the goal was is that we would be out of this around the conference so i'm going to double check that one but for winter sports you can see that it's we're going to be doing 7th and 8th grade boys and girls basketball so both sports will be there wrestling dance and cheer and that'll be from january 4th to february 12th so a very short season winter sports number two we'll have both 7th and 8th grade boys and girls volleyball along with the sixth grade um boys basketball um i gotta double check if there's girls involved i'm not sure on that one and then spring

049sports april 5th to may 22nd we'll have soccer and track and field and then obviously no cross-country because track and cross country are very similar and the conference just unfortunately cross-country lost out on that one so um one of the things that we're going to be working on is trying to get um with with miss colby looking at the iesa regulations guidelines on how we can do some open gyms kind of get kids back on campus make sure we're doing it safely but we're going to make sure that we are following those guidelines to the t and and try to get kids in here to do some activities because i know i need it and i'm sure they do as well some gyms any questions and that that schedule could change depending on what's going

050on at the time in the world of cobin so i think that's the best guess right now as to what we'll do the item i is the volvo development update the first page of that you see the i just want to include so you kind of see where it's at it's the plot of ground i don't know if you can figure that out that hardigan road there cuts through the middle of it in kind of the darker ink on the exhibit is uh the new development uh the hardigan road is what connects to to home depot so that's the that's the development the phase one is uh the first the first phase i believe is everything on the left hand side of the page the lower left hand side and dark ink so they're anticipating

051240 units 144 1 bedroom 96 2 bedrooms impact fees are estimated at 420 000 and the estimated annual tax revenue is 257 000 for our school district the there's the estimates for number of students uh is just a guess i think it's it's as low as 15 or as high as whatever you think it might be so with the single bedroom units there probably won't be many kids coming out of those but with the two bedrooms we could very easily have some all right so any questions on that so it's gonna bolt right up to those townhomes yes it is right at the home depot i always thought it was next to the home depot well the uh the on the left hand side of your page oh okay i'm sorry yours is up okay

052okay so the top of your page home depot would be at the very top top right yeah so uh i had my page turned around so yeah the top of your page is where home depot is so they're gonna back up right to home depot at the top there and they're actually going to go up that road a little bit too and as soon as you turn off of the angle off of nipper sink on your right hand side that will be that'll be it too yeah i'm just really surprised that they're trying to put that much in there yeah it looks like a lot that seems like a lot for a very limited road actually [Music] so i i don't know all the details but i've heard that there's there's a discussion about traffic

053lights because i would think i would think 134 and uh nippersync we'll start we'll need a traffic light now with all this traffic because they're going to go out that way yeah yeah and that's already bad that's all right yeah yeah and then i don't i think in the i don't i'm speaking on like i'm speculating a little bit but i think part of the discussion was and lauren you might know a little more at some at the meeting i think but the uh i think some of the uh there's gonna be some road improvements there they are they're gonna widen it and put a three-way stop yeah they have to they are going to wipe out yeah yeah because the amount of traffic that's going to increase through theirs is going to be a

054lot yes and i know they had this there was a hearing here at the school but the before that did they contact you yes yeah they've been they talked to uh both christie suffolk and i quite a bit earlier and our issue was the impact fees we weren't very thrilled about the original proposal was around forty thousand dollars and we were in the process actually of researching others and trying to come up with a uh a proposal and they called us and said they renegotiated it and they did all they they got it renegotiated without us getting involved so we didn't have to really go any deeper into that there's another development that's similar to this that's supposed to go as well over by i don't i don't think this one's near as far as

055long and this the last conversation i had was with this developer right before covet hit so i don't know if it's changed now but it's uh over on the north of the dominic's the old dominic's the north side of that parking lot there's about 13 acres there i think and uh they've got what they uh considered another development very similar to this one number of units and everything that was that was planned for there so i don't but i have again that was back in february so i don't know if that's changed now there must be a market for it here yeah i don't even know they fill up the metals that's pretty full okay item j is the citizens advisory council which this year it's a little different we opened it light up for

056people you'll see i have quite a list there and we have our first meeting in uh i think september 28th in two weeks um i'm gonna use this group uh i'm gonna try to try to be a little more active with this group this year and be especially in the time we're in right now i'm gonna really seek their feedback on some things that are happening in our schools and um so you can see the the list we didn't turn anybody down um if it got over 75 i was going to start whittling it back we were at just under 50 which actually would allow for maybe a possibly an in-person meeting if we have it if we need to have it but um i'd like to try to do it but i think i

057have some that are requested to be via zoom so not sure yet what i'm going to do on the 28th but so a good group and i gave you the list of the meetings and the tentative objectives these will change throughout the year but these are these are the things we'll for sure be talking about and you can see on the first meeting we're going to get give them some time to give us uh an update on their perspective of the remote learning and how it's going for their kids and it's just good chance for us to get feedback so i typically like to ask for uh an approval of the membership each year when we do this so all right anybody have any questions can i please have a motion to approve the citizens
