001I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. All right, I need a motion to approve the agenda. I'll move. Second. Any further discussion? All those in favor signify by saying I. I. I. Opposed? Motion carries. I need a motion to approve of the minutes from our last meeting. I'll make a motion. I'll second. We got a motion by Pat, a second by John. Any further discussion? All those in favor signify by saying I. I. >> I. Opposed? Motion carries. Approval of payments of claims. Uh Joe's not here, so we're going to have Beth do it. Yeah. Uh so, for the hand payables, I picked check number 94887 to Apple computer for $117,480.

002That's for uh new staff um Mac Air computers um and the tech levy did pay for that. The board approved the purchase of that at the last meeting. And I have to check number 94892 to Chapel Central for $73,697. Um and that's for um the facilities exploration and air handling contract. And I do believe the board approved that quite a few months ago and uh we have a bill now for that. That was um paid on board run as well, so today. So, yeah, I have uh Federal Equipment check number 94819. That is for $44,967.53. That's for shop equipment. The planer and lathe included in that was a grant from Lakes Country Co-op for $35,285. And the electric roller, feed roller, and the slip roller stand uh was $7,038.90, and that was donated by Belling.

003I believe that donation was given earlier this school year. And then I have check number 94838, the Colnex, for $15,273.69. And that is for equipment and some supplies for the kitchen. Well, with all those, I have hand payables to layers for the month of April in the amount of $767, $110.94. Hand payables, check number 94771 to 94879 in the amount of $227,725. And the board bills, check number 94880 to check number 94932 in the amount of $350,532.52. For a total of $1,345,368.46. I need a motion to set the report. Josh. I'll second. I'll second. Any further discussion? All those in favor signify by saying I. I. Opposed same sign. Motion carries. Committee curriculum activity reports, we have none. Administration reports and correspondence, we're going to start out with technology director Becky Martella. Good evening. Start

004out talking about um the instructor Canvas incident um their cyber attack that they had. Um which we use Canvas as our learning management system. And it started out on April 29th, they had noticed that there was an unauthorized person in their um system. Again on May they revoked it on May 7th again um they got in and it was um the the actor was Shiny Hunters. And um they actually put everybody into a maintenance mode and that was the only time that we were um without access to our Canvas system and that was through the night. Um by the next day our um staff and students were able to access Canvas and were able to move forward. The only impact that we noticed here was the communication from PowerSchool to Canvas um which was very

005minimal for like the students and really didn't notice any difference but um it was more the grade pass back from the um Canvas talking back to um PowerSchool and finally today we just heard back from um Canvas and um the systems are speaking together thanks to Mary working very hard with them and getting them to get it back to going and um a couple teachers have tried and it's sinking very well. So um what got impacted were usernames, um, emails, and some course names and enrollment informations, um, and some messages, but the core learning information such as course content, submissions, credentials were not compromised. Um, they must have reached or they said they reached an agreement with them. I'm assuming they kind of paid a ransom of some sort, and they say that they all

006the information was returned. Um, today's update said that they will be reaching out to the Canvas administrator with their findings. Um, I have not heard anything yet, so um, so that's kind of where um, we're at with Canvas in regards to that, but it seems like everything's going to be smooth from here, so in regards to that, um, I am implementing another or a new cybersecurity software, um, working with ECMEC and with Minute. Um, Minute is the Minnesota IT services, and that's the internet provider that we use, um, that we started when we joined with ECMEC. And so there's some services that, um, they provide at a cheaper rate or free, and one of the free services that they provide us is an MDBR, which is called a malicious domain blocking reporting and reporting, which,

007um, comes from, um, Center of Internet Security. And what that does is it provides another additional layer of cybersecurity protection. So it's cloud-based, and, um, what it does is it's like a recursive DNS technology, and so it, um, kind of looks and it searches for like, um, some harmful domain web domains, and it's it's got a huge database where it'll just keep searching through, and it's just another extra layer on top. Um, so it'll be looking for like malware and ransomware phishing and all that and kind of stop it at that point. Um, I will receive emails in regards to those. Now, we also are going to be putting CrowdStrike in. You probably It's probably have heard CrowdStrike, but you probably heard a few years ago when they did get, you know, they had ransomware

008as well. Um it's a very well-known um a a very good MDR. Now, you have MDR and you have EDR. MDR is a managed detection and response. And what MDR is a it's a cloud-based 24/7 365 monitoring response. So, what an EDR does is it it monitors and it's it's software that's on your device. And it lets me know, "Hey, something is on your device." Nothing happens to it when, you know, like it it doesn't do anything. Where an MDR, there's it actually will remove it, it will quarantine it, it will do something about it right away. Um that will stop it from spreading throughout our district. Um I think that's going to be our best protection that we can provide. So, we had Sophos previously, which would be an EDR. And I mean, it

009has worked great, but in this day and age we need something a little better. Some school districts only put um CrowdStrike on their um their servers and maybe their, you know, like the IT and their administrators' computers, but I look at it as you're only as good as your weakest link. So, if you don't put it on all your devices, you're really not protecting your system because then it's just going to hit hit that and move its way through. So, um I just started implement I'm just working with them right now, um getting that implemented. So, I I don't know too much, but if you guys need more information and you want me to present the next um meeting, I definitely can do that. But most attacks happen on, you know, Friday nights and long

010weekends because who's watching? You know, we're all gone. So, hopefully that's going to protect our district a little more. So, um another thing where it just kind of got on our radar is the title two ADA compliance that we're going to have to um be compliant with and um what that means is we just have to be ADA compliant with our website, all of our um curriculum and um social media, things like that. And that was supposed to be we were supposed to be compliant by April of next year. They moved it back um an extra year. So, we've got all the way till 2027 to be compliant. So, um So, Mary is going to be working very hard with the teachers to kind of get that We're going to start this year and just

011kind of slowly work on their curriculum and get that implemented and it's great that they pushed it out an extra year for us to do that. So, um distributing staff computers, I think we got about 27 left um to get out to all the staff that have Mac computers. Today we collected our 12th grade Chromebooks and um majority of them were all collected and on Friday we collect our 5 through 8. So, um yeah, coming to the end of the year and just getting ready this summer for the next year. So, any questions at all? Thanks. Thank you. Same to you. Yes. We did senior Chromebooks today and then next week is everybody else? This This Friday. This coming Friday we will do 5 through 8. Yep. If you want. Perfect. >> There you go.

012Thank you. You're welcome. Matt? Good night, sir. I'll sit over here. Thank you. Chromebooks. Oh. Yeah. Thank you. Uh I'm going to bring a little fun, some student celebrations and another reason to be proud of our students. Um this year again, through some fundraising efforts, we were able to do our wall of fame students where we recognize students in all the different disciplines. Uh, it isn't just for academics. It's for being, you know, a leader in the classroom and just an overall good student to have to make up that great mix of students. Uh, in grades 5-8, we do donuts and chocolate milk. Uh, each quarter we do that. And I get to bring out the 9-12 students we all took Tutti Frutti and have a lunch and uh, it it's just a a nice

013gesture to show the kids that, you know, it doesn't always have to be that A student or this student. What kind of student we want to recognize and and we get to. So, I appreciate that. Um, again, we do that four times a year each quarter. Today was an absolutely fantastic day. We had our spring fling today, which includes our Mr. Meanness Greeter competition in the morning. We do our yearbook dedication. And we were able to do some uh, street away drawings, one of which was uh, the winning student in each grade got to put a whipped cream pie in the face of a staff member. And I have to admit I was not disappointed or let down that I wasn't chosen. So, I did not catch the pie. Um, and then we have our

0145-8 spring fling next Wednesday, May 27th. We do that for 5 through 8. We'll do that in the afternoon. Um, just a quick youth service update. Um, this year we were able to work with 121 students in youth service, mainly seniors, some repeats. Um, but two of the pieces that I work on uh, with the students and teachers, I really preach about attendance and being a self-starter, kind of taking care, not constant supervision. Very happy to report fourth quarter, 96.4% of the students earned full points for good attendance to youth service Uh, and 100% of the kids earn full points for exhibiting that they can be self-starters and not need supervision. So, when people talk about those kids, you tell them well not the youth service kids cuz they really do a good job. I

015think it's a good deal for the building from custodial work to kitchen work to also in the classroom having all the students out there. So, uh some good things going on. Questions? Sounds like a fun day. It is a good day. Thank you. Amy. Did you share the little snapshot I showed in my um with my report? Yeah, if you just keep going up here. Oh, there we go. Perfect. Yes, thank you. So, I just wanted to share this um Megan Green put this together. She is our new new media specialist this year. I didn't ask her to do this, but she just put it together and I thought I would share it with you. When we hired her this year, we just really our team was looking at kind of building this um what

016this position could look like, collaborating with the makerspace area, and um she has just done a phenomenal job with collaborating with teachers, providing opportunities for students. So, this just shows if you um go down a little bit, the top titles that were checked out in the media center, the number of books added to the collection, 418 in the elementary and 240 in the middle school high school. Um the total checkouts, 19,125. And then she showed kind of the different genres there that were checked out. And then some of the highlights in the elementary as well. She did a dot day where all students made a dot. We made this big um thing in our foyer area, butterfly, and kids took pictures. It was amazing. A global read aloud. I love to read month winter Olympics,

017um a lot of makerspace challenges that have been fantastic. And then she does a phenomenal job also of collaborating with classroom teachers and what they're learning in the classroom, then she reinforces that um in the media center as well and in the makerspace. So, just wanted to share that little snapshot of what we've seen this year. Um it's been it's been amazing. She's been a great addition to the staff and and provided a lot for us. Um as far as the rest of my report, I made it pretty short here. We are in the midst of trying to wrap up the year. Our walkathon was a huge success. We raised over $12,000. Um a lot of parents attended. All of the students K through 4 on the football field. It happened to be a beautiful

018day. Um so that was really exciting. PTA partners and um organizes that for us. We're also very blessed to have a great PTA that's very active. So, appreciate that. We are wrapping up our end of the year assessments this week, so those will all be done and we'll have all the data that we need for planning as we move forward. Um end of the year field trips are wrapping up this week as well. Kindergarten and first grade go tomorrow, um and then we will be done with those. Appreciate all the volunteers and staff that help um facilitate that as well. And you know, we're then June is a very busy time for me. I have a lot of plans and end of year reports that are due in June. Our Title 1, 2, and 4

019CEIS application, local literacy plan submission. So, once I get everybody out the door, then I have some time to concentrate on that and get those things done. Um and hiring as well. We've had some different pieces in the elementary. Um this past week we interviewed for the 0.5 title position. That was the one thing that we had open. And so we are in the process of finalizing that position, um and then we should be done in the elementary as well. So, we'll be set for next year. This is a side note, there's a drone on your left. >> Yes, uh-huh. Facebook and what's it? Sound of Facebook for sure. More interested in watching that. Noah Christian, correct? >> Yes. No, I mean No, and it's it was I watched it, it was good. >> Yeah.

020And it gives you a total picture of what went on. Exactly. Yeah. It was really really cool. A great way to have everybody together doing something, too. It's on our website? And where is it? It's on Facebook. >> I >> Facebook. And Jen Wegemer sent me I could send you email it to you, too. She sent a link out to our staff today with it. So. Okay. Thank you. You're welcome. Hello. Okay. Um, enrollment for this last month down two students from last month. Uh, registration scheduling, we are you know, in the trenches, basically. Everybody's registered. We got into the sixth grade at the beginning of the month. And the counselors are now really just trying to balance sections and and get final schedules for students as much as possible. Um, and then we'll be

021tweaking them all summer long. At the staff evaluations, I'm meeting with paras right now. We do a face-to-face end of year uh, individual meeting where I just debrief on the year with them, what went well, what was challenging, are they coming back, things like that. Um, and then we go through their evaluation, which is a compilation of a self-evaluation, and then I give it to their case managers, and they get feedback from the teachers that the paras work with. So, I share I share that information in that meeting. So, those are happening here the the next till right up to the last day. Uh, it it has been a wild month, as May always is. We started off with the honor and scholarship ceremony beginning of May. 42 students recognized as honor students. $118 for

022scholar scholarships were given to 50 students for the highest total ever of $102,500 given from the community. Um so that was really fun to witness. The counseling department has taken over planning that pool event, so I really appreciate that. Prom was last weekend, last Saturday, and the weather was gorgeous. So we got super lucky. Uh and we had 87 couples who went through the grand march. We had four full coach buses who brought the students to Stillwater for a 4-hour cruise, and I think the students really enjoyed themselves. Today, as Matt mentioned, spring fling along with felt like a hundred other things, but it was another beautiful day, and uh again, proud of the kids. They they stayed within the lines. Our Mr. Main Streeter always makes us a little nervous as staff. We just

023never quite know if they're going to stay in the lanes we have set up for them. And we had the probably the largest number of candidates ever, and with 12, and they all did a great job. I was proud of them all. Uh we have spring fling next week for the younger students, and I really have to thank Matt for he takes the reins with these two events and makes sure that everything is in order. So I really appreciate him for that. We also had the presidential award ceremony today. This is the moment where we um honor our ninth graders who since seventh grade have kept an A- minus or higher, and it's just kind of a little cheer fest for them to like keep up the good work. It's the beginning of your high

024school career, and so we had a ceremony right after school for them. That was 18 freshmen there. Last day today for seniors, so they'll have their senior sunset tonight, and of course graduation is Friday. And if you are planning to join us, please meet us um at about 7:20 or so in the MPR as board members because we will okay. All right. And 82 seniors are participating in class Sarah. Any questions? Yes. All right. Now later on on the agenda for business there's a dropping the 25 26 revised budget. Nothing has changed from the presentation at the committee meeting so that's just the um action item. Uh this past week uh Mr. Fesler and I went over the capital requests that um we received. We went through uh not all of them got approved mainly

025curriculum and um immediate needs were approved. We approved $120,000 worth of capital requests. Uh in addition to that we also um approved a few items that are being paid out of other funds such as special ed or long-term facility maintenance. Uh right now we are working on CTE or career and technical. Uh we have reporting due for this year's uh classes and students that took CTE classes. Um and this year is a dual reporting year. They're changing the way we're going to be reporting that to MDE. Um so Andrea has been working uh with that to get that uh set up and we are also uh working with Marsha Brenner out of Wisconsin on um as a pilot to help that get set up on PowerSchool. Uh and then we're also uh working on the

026budget for next year for CTE that's due June 6th to MDE um based on what we know right now. Uh we are working on the food service RFP. Bids were received and scored this week. Uh we are collating and submitting all the information to MDE for their review. After MDE reviews it, we will submit the findings to the school board at the June 3rd committee meeting, and then the board will approve the selection of the food service company for next year at the June board meeting. Um Also June 3rd at the committee meeting, uh the 2026-2027 adopted budget will be reviewed. Um Mr. Fasbender are meeting tomorrow to go over some final numbers to get those in the budget for your review in a couple of weeks. Thanks. Any questions for Beth? Thank you, Beth.

027Katie. All right. Starting off with a bang. Um speech. At the end of April, they had their state meet. We had Liz Eiden who took third, Nora Thompson who took first, state champion. And then Julia Gorman and Olivia Marsh competed in a duo and they took fifth. And then they also competed at Nationals. Um that was Julia, Olivia, Nora, and then Kier York. Um robotics. They went to Worlds in Texas, and Mr. Ali told me they placed fifth in their field, and they did beat the number one team in the world, which was from Turkey, and apparently was their second loss of the year, so that was pretty cool. And then they also went to state, and then they placed 23rd. Um I guess not to repeat Mr. Aker and Mr. Fado too much, but

028today was a very busy day. It was the seniors' last day, and we also had Mr. and Miss Main Streeter and Spring Fling. Um again, like Mr. Fado said, prom was this past Saturday, and it was so much fun. I was on the dance floor the whole time. And if I had it my way, I wish we could have the ball every year. It was It was actually amazing. It was so much fun. Um but yeah, then the seniors graduation is on this Friday. Um, for sports, baseball has their first playoff game tomorrow night. We're the 13th seed and we'll be going against the number four seed, which is Spectrum. Um, softball, sadly, their season ended on the 18th against Eden Prairie Watkins. They were the number seven seed and we were the number 10

029seed, and then the score was one to two. Um, a little player highlight, Jenna Riley, she got the strikeout record for 347 strikeouts. That was pretty cool. And then, track, they had conference on the 12th. The boys took first as a team and they tied with Minnewaska. The girls took third as a team, and then they have sub-sections tomorrow. That's all I have. Thank you, Katie. Very nice job. Superintendent. Yes, uh, several items budget. Beth, you muted a little bit to be able to meet tomorrow. The legislature completed their session. Uh, again, we didn't get reports that we really liked. For example, compensatory aid, we were swamped with 290,000. They had a bill going through the session that would have given us 118,000. Um, let me backtrack. We're $290,000 less than we were we had

030last year. So, they did have a bill going through that we recovered 118,000 of that. Actually, in actuality, we covered we covered 41. Again, review of compensatory compensatory dollars that goes into your general fund, 01. It funds multiple things. From salaries to whatever, you know, just whatever we have to use it for out of 01 funds. So, that's disappointing. Uh, I'm thankful we got what we got, but that's part of the reason why Beth and I are going to look at this tomorrow, see how it will affect us program-wise moving forward. Uh, that being said, moving forward towards next year, uh we are we will be closely monitoring some things. I alluded to that a little bit in my weekly updates, so um you know, and we'll make more adjustments to spending as we focus

031on closing out June 30th this fiscal year if we need to. Uh several months we stumbled on this several months ago. We own property. Those of you that know where Virgil Meek house lives on the corner heading out to McCormack Lake, there is a 1.5 acre lot there. It's um classified as agriculture. It's an I've driven past it many times. It's a little rectangular plot of land. Um so it I don't know what we're going to do with it. It's been I don't know how long it's been there. I know what the market price is. It's 25,400. I looked at the tax statement, so uh I'm going to try and dig into that for the next committee meeting in June, which is coming up with the faster and see if we can have some offers

032for it cuz I don't know how long it's been there. I I've got to look back at the county and see how it was It must have been donated somewhere somehow along the way and I right now it's just sitting there. Be a great spot for deer stand. So it wouldn't, but um yeah, I don't know uh what the value is it to us other than its cash value, which we could use. So that'll be a discussion coming in June. Um construction update, the update to baseball concessions and press box continues to progress. It will not get done by the end of the school year. Um we are formulating a plan to get that complete. So that will be something we continue to monitor and watch, but it will get completed. What else do we

033have? Um with our business meeting tomorrow in regards to construction, Beth and Aaron are going to review our donation status on that field project. Remember we said it was a couple phases, and then we'll look at the current bills that we received in regards to where the baseball field is at at this point in time. Still waiting on some excavating from Bright Box on that phase two of the softball field turns and the JV baseball field. And then we have not received a sprinkler quote. Remember that part of our facility is underground sprinkler, however, it's manual. So, it's not on a digital board, so we would like to get that updated as well money allows us to do so. Negotiations um it's Rob, Josh, Pat and I in this round were were negotiating with non-certified.

034All but two of the 12 counter proposals are ready. So, I have two left to get I mean to complete to get out to people. Um over the next couple of days I'll be meeting with those groups or individuals. Uh 10 of the 12 for sure and we have a goal of trying to get most of this done by the end of June. Security. Uh I want to review a little bit what happened a couple weeks ago. We did do a bag check this morning. All went well. We've done continuing measures throughout the rest of this over the last couple weeks and throughout the school year to continue what we promised our parents and staff that we were going to continue to focus on this. Um You know, we did have a safety meeting last

035week in which we had attendance from Sax and the fire department for a little bit and they got called out on a fire call, but SCPD was there, Joe was there. Uh we reviewed our ER plan and then our we have something that several of our staff members have put together is called a crisis response plan. We looked at those two documents and they're very thorough. After we get done reviewing, we'll take a look at them as a board uh this summer um and they will be ready to go for our staff during our back to school workshop. They will have access to that in the staff drive as they should. So, very comfortable with where we are going and again I want to remind you June 1st we're going to a training on reunification.

03614 seats at the table um inclusive of our staff and SCPD. So, that'll be uh just another piece to add to that. We did meet with Meet and Confer. Um Joe was there uh last week. We discussed Well, part of the discussion was centered around, you know, our incident. So, I thought we had a good discussion on that, our response. Um we had a more in-depth discussion on our conference schedule and some amendments that we're going to try and make to that next year, which might include an amendment to the calendar. Uh our admin team, we will meet in June once we get things settled down around here in the next week, week and a half. I will set a meeting to finalize, you know, what that looks like and bring it back to you

037for approval this summer. So, I have Any questions for Diane? All right, we're going to move on to our next agenda. Can I ask if that be so? Mason Petrie is here. >> Yes. And Holy Family this year? Could you step up to the table and we can

045hear you on the mic. Yes. So, Mason Petrie. So, part of the reason is that Mason Petrie also was at Holy Family school last year and this year she'll be in our building full time for sped, so that was also one of the Without that it would not have worked, but because of that change as well, we're able to yes, cover all students without having to add that position or to fill that position. Okay, so the first item here is a form that goes along with the library policy. Um I would like to thank Amy and Megan Green. They've done tons of work on this. So, the actual policy is here itself. We don't have one. We need this. And it simply states the purpose of this policy is to provide direction and to delegate responsibility for selection and reconsideration of library materials.
