on new. >> Well, it's 5:30. We will call the meeting to order and stand for the pledge. >> I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Welcome everyone. Um we will start by going around and introducing ourselves. If you want to start, >> Jack, >> Scott Pearson, >> Jennison, >> Rob Weiner, >> Ann Hessie, >> John Dro, >> and we have John remote tonight. Um we do have one modification to the agenda under new business. There'll be a number 10 to consider and take take action on a Gopher state lighting bid for the auditorium. So, make note of that change. Um, can I get a motion to adopt the modified agenda? >>
Make a motion. >> Scott, I get a second. >> All in favor say I. I. I. Motion carries. I get John. You hear me? >> Y. Okay. Um, okay. Approve the minutes from the previous meeting. Everybody have a chance to cover those? >> I'll make a motion to approve. >> Josh, get a second. Rob, >> any discussion or questions? All those in favor say I. >> I. >> Oppose. Same sign. Motion carries. 6. >> Uh, payment of claims. Joey. >> Uh, really not a whole lot in there. Again, um, in some of the hand pays, the check number 94646 that was for the bleachers for $124,780. Uh some things just so people know what it costs for City of Sock Center for the hockey rental. Um the ice rent is $9,933 this year and the
hourly rental was $7,425. That was a total of $16,93755. And check number 94722 was for the elementary water restoration. That was insurance claim $33,999.64. 64. Uh so the wires for this month were 750,67138. Hand pays were 486581.79. Board bills were $233,28216 for a total of1,470,535.33. >> Thank you. Can I get a motion to approve the payment of claims? >> I make that motion. >> Can I get a second? Any questions or discussion? >> All those in favor say I. >> I. I. >> Post. Motion carries. Uh moving on to our committee curriculum activity reports. anything there. Just get to the administrator. >> Jason Jason first one was from Farm right um and that was a yearly lease of $52,600. Um, I got a hold of quality power on Alec, but they said they were going
to get something together. I've called them board times and they've never got back to me. So, still working with that. But I did talk to Kevin out at John Deere and he was able to actually put something together finally for us. So, he's got a five-year deal at $9,688.50 50 cents per year on 250 hours a year. That's with full full machine warranty. >> What was that number again? >> 9,68850. 5 years. 200 years. >> Y What's the overage per hour? >> Um he's we were going to work on that because he wasn't This is kind of a deal they just kind of threw together. Oh, sure. Um it's not something they t typically do, but for us they would do it. They're going to do it. So, and then you know, so the balance
do if if we wanted to buy the machine outright would be $63,26 instead of doing the lease option. So, like I said, I'll still still working with quality power there out of alley. See what they come back with. But that's what I got so far on that. Uh, and then I guess the other thing I got is Chapel Central finished up their installing our facility explorer for the heating and cooling. Um, they found a lot of issues. Um, dampers not hooked up, fan speeds not right, whole bunch of set points weren't right. Some controls weren't hooked up. So, they're working on that. There's 33 issues they found throughout the whole facility for that. He's getting it down. I think he's down to about 11 left to take care of. Um, so, you know, he said
I I don't know how they passed the balancer report, you know, be honest. So, I don't know. There's I mean, dampers that weren't even hooked up that should have been hooked up. For instance, down in the elementary uh room back there in that fan room, there's two boilers in there. domestic hot water boilers and when they turn on the damper should open on, you know, to the outside to bring air in. They weren't even hooked up. So, so anyway, that's that's that. Um, other than that, I'm just we're getting geared up for the end of the school year and getting ready for summer. So, good. All's good. >> Well, uh, you and I will discuss skid loader stuff and then we can find probably next board regular board meeting with the proposal for lease or
purchase. >> Okay, that's fair. >> I think we want to look at purchasing. I mean, >> what size machines are there? >> The uh let's see. So, the the Bobcat was a S650. And John, here's a 324G >> in Farmer Tech Bobcat. >> Farmer head Bobcat. Correct. Yeah, those are like 90 80 90 horse skid loaders. You're going to use those for blowing snow and everything. >> Y speed. >> Yeah. So, but we'll see what quality power. I mean, if they want to do something, call the guy four different times and talk to two guys two different times and yeah, we'll get him the message and he never calls back. I've left him two voicemails and I don't know what's what the deal is. He sounded really gone well when I talked to him the
first time. So, I'll reach out. >> Sometimes they're just too busy to >> Yeah. And I'll reach out back out to him tomorrow or something and see if I get a hold of him. So, >> any questions for Jason? >> Thank you. Hi, Chad. >> Hello. >> I don't have too much tonight, but to start off bus updates, uh the mini bus, we are waiting for the cameras and that to be installed, and upon completion of that, then we should be able to do our trade out. Get rid of the old one, get the new one. So, assuming that should be happening any day. I sent emails today asking for an update and never got a reply. So, I don't know if that's just sounds like that's the normal thing, but uh that's where we
stand with that, but I'm expecting that to be pretty soon. Um on the used ones, I did get a reply back. They the other district that we're working with on is wanting both of them. They are going to their school board. It just had to go through the formalities at their next school board put on the agenda to get the approval and sound like it's sounding pretty solid. certainly pretty solid on being able to sell them outright. We will still run them as a pass through the dealership. So the sales tax savings will be all there plus the difference in prices. So sounding very positive on that for us. On the next note is um like update I'm just giving update on routes by buses. I have like obviously bus two is always open with
the number of subs we have. I don't have a problem covering it. It's kind of it's actually kind of working nice right now till I lose some. If I lose some subs then it doesn't. But I have enough I have a few subs that like to work so it gives them something to do. I do have one route opening up. I have one driver retiring at the end of the year. So I will have to and I've done a little discussion with a couple of the subs to see if weighing their interest in that. And I think I have one guy that's somewhat interested. So hoping that'll get filled to the sub but he's also one of my very good subs. So that's kind of a bitter bittersweet thing if I want to go that
route. Sam Sara the GPS obviously we signed an agreement for that that's been sent off. for waiting for them to send the hardware. That contract will start in July, but they said they will send us hardware upon our payment. We pay for the shipping, they'll send us the hardware, and we can have three the three months, April, May, June leading up to it for free and then start the contract in July. Allows us to give us a little running time to get used to it. So, that's kind of something that's going to be happening here. Hopefully, they'll be getting that stuff to us shortly. So, start getting stuff. >> Can we talk about this? We get any insurance anything for having cameras and GPS any break from insurance? >> I haven't had any conversations with
insurance. Um >> interesting to see if they >> I don't know if you can get a break as much as you're seeing more people to maintain your you know just to maintain your value otherwise they start jacking you up. >> Yeah. >> You know that kind of a thing. So that's one another thing on the radar. Few things on my radar is coming going forward maybe for next this year is I've done I've gotten some pricing which I can present at any time. I got pricing to replace the big doors the five doors are get tired of the bus garage. So I've gotten two bids on them. Um I've also got two bids on the sports trailer which if we pull around as a 99 model it's starting to show its age. I got two
bids on them. Those those ideas deal. something I've put together for figuring out that stuff that we can work on bigger next fiscal year. >> Any questions for Chad? >> Oh, good. Thank you. >> Thank you, Chad. >> Jason. Hi Jason. >> Hi. >> How are you? >> Doing well. >> Good. So, first of all, um we did a a little bit of an update to the alleart area. I do have some pictures a picture of it. Um there's the old part. Uh that was probably three weeks ago that we did it. And then we're going to we're waiting for the back the back line the like the poster of it was too small. So, we're going to should be like until we maybe get that done. But but then also I was just going
to pass around we done this year we probably did more not promotions but things I guess for students like uh we did uh national cookie day we did cookies away we did um popcorn day we have the pictures there too as well for the students gave cookies away Patrick just kind of last year I didn't do a lot of it just because I was new and now I'm have my my feet are down a little bit but the went fast. I think overall um we've done a good pretty good job compar I mean last year was good. I think we've I hope like met and exceeded expectations um this year as well. But I was running just just some numbers tonight. I know last time I talked about like how many extra meals um excuse
me that we do. Um, so year to date we've done served 74,570 meals and then for extra meals we have 300 uh 34,662 extra. So um I I think that just goes to show like what kind of job that we're doing. >> Sorry, how many were the extra? >> Uh 34,662. So, and we're trying to like do like more stuff and then um and hopefully like obviously we're it's we're up to mid this year, but hopefully like next year we'll be able if we get contract we'll be able to just keep improving. You don't want to just uh do the same stuff over and over again. Um but like I don't know this week we haven't did a lot of like grilled chicken. We're going to hopefully um do that this week like just a
grilled chicken sandwich. We now we just have like the the chicken patty. Um, but we're hopefully we should as long as we get in, we'll do this. Um, like I mean my staff, I I say this every time, but they do a they do an awesome job back there. So, they they work really hard. That that's kind of all that I have. If anybody have any questions or uh pre meetings tomorrow, you know, so that's at 10:30. Sharon, Beth and I, I think you're involved on that. So that'll be companies that are knowing RP to come and the facility and take a look around and ask, you know, we'll answer questions or things. So May 8th is the next date when uh the pricing is due. I don't have that all right now, but yeah,
but again, Jason, like I've said before, this company has done great. We have good food. the older can keep, you know, serving the staff and >> awesome. >> Yeah, thank you. I appreciate >> good information. >> Um, Amy is not >> No, I have an update. Uh, it's in your portal. Um, so just a few things here. I'm She's got a lot of stuff, a lot of stuff going on. I'll just highlight a few things. Enrollment is stable from where it was last time she reported in March. Obviously, you know, it's testing season. I've been keeping you apprised of that in my weekly reports. Um, reading assessments are completed. You can see the grade levels there. Uh, they won't we won't get scores back until fall because it is a it's a new assessment. MCA
assessments are scheduled for um this week. This is the base there. And then after that, we go right into Fastbridge. Big thank you to Nikki back who does an outstanding work coordinating all this. um keeps everybody uh logistically to where they need to be. She communicates very clearly. So again, that's part of Amy's notes as you can see and I would like that for that as well. So thank you. Thank you. Um local literacy planning and data submission for the read. The plan is comprehensive and includes the following listed items there. You can see that, you know, there's goals, there's data, there's screenings. Um we have a database decision process. We obviously notify parents. There's curriculum intervention resources. We use literacy aid funding for this. We have professional developing or professional development opportunities and participation.
Again, NTSS is a part of that. And then we also have dual language immersion programming. So that data then is due by June 15th. She works again with Nikki and Sheila to gather information. Um, they'll meet in May to finalize the plan and then get it ready to go in June. Amy's been working hard on the playground. I think we've brought that up here. Our playground sets are not in great shape at all. So, you know, we do have some money we're going to throw towards that LTFM. Um, you know, a big piece of this is the PTA. So, uh, she did meet with Bailey from Landcape Structures last week and they're working on a final design. Now, the PTA's big fundraising event is the walk-athon that's coming up May 13th. So that is key
for this fundraising project and beginning you would like to uh thank PTA for their partnership and continue this continued support uh working on master scheduling. It's that time of year for both buildings. So she has a scheduling committee to develop a draft master plan um ahead of a special case or special education special education excuse me case load planning. So um strong graph she's had a great group helping her with program decisions moving forward. They've been participant in and giving of their time uh to be part of that work and again she appreciates the work that they do. Finally um Alice drill location relocation drill will be Wednesday May 6 that is in conjunction with our lady of the angels church that is their designated site for relocation. And then remember our reunification location is
Holy Family School. Theirs is here. So that drill will be coordinated with local law enforcement and again we're just trying to ensure that that process can go as smoothly as possible and we feel prepared and it's again a valuable opportunity to practice that in a realistic fashion. So that's Amy's report. Any questions on it? I do the best I can to my ability to answer. So again like this 10 years busy busy stuff busy >> good stuff. Hello. Okay. Enrollment is pretty stable. We did we're down three students from last month. Um and just family situations really. it was kids going to move with a different family member. So nothing about going online necessarily. It was more of those kinds of situations. Uh registration and scheduling. So we are officially done with our secondary registration.
Schedules are loaded. Heather and I spent the day in Fargo last week with P school helping us um start that process, get all the errors cleaned up. Uh and now we start to analyze and yeah the work will continue all summer and till the first week of school um getting all of those schedules as as perfect as we can get them. Um then we also need to meet with our incoming seventh graders and we will be doing that on April 30th. We'll have a meeting here in the morning for our public students and then we go to Holy Family that afternoon. um Matt and a counselor and myself and Hannah's going this year and we bring some students with us always to these meetings. We bring some current seventh graders. We find that the sixth
graders have lots of questions and they so much more enjoy getting the answers from kids who've been living it this year. So, um that's always a a fun way to do that meeting. But then when we get those schedules in, we will yeah, we'll just really be rocking and rolling with just now finalizing and cleaning everything up. Teacher staff development pieces. Uh we worked really hard for I don't know it was a very short timeline but uh Amy and I and Donnie decided to try for the $250,000 grant from um Miss or Minnesota MTSS and we're asking for a coordinator with that grant that would fund a two-year position. We're hopeful. We're optimistic. It was a lot of work. Um, but we feel it was worthwhile and it will definitely define, if we get it,
it will define our efforts for MTSS for the next couple of years and it will fund a brand new 1.0 FTE position. We're supposed to find out in May at some point. UCOM also is undergoing an overhaul or an update. We've been on the same plan for 12 years and at the oversight team level, which is a committee made up of all of our administration districtwide, plus a variety of roles of different faculty, teachers across the district. We decided to just look take another look at it. So, we spent a day in um April, April 9th, the whole day. We got subs for the teachers and we just had some really good conversation and discussion about how we wanted to update that and I think you're going to hear more in Donnie's report. But um
we have decided to go with a more robust instructional coach model than we have right now. We wanted to strengthen that and so that's changing uh one of the the roles a bit and and we're in the process of hiring for that. So I'll let him explain more later. Um I'm going to an event on Friday uh through MASSP. That's my principal group um here in central Minnesota. And Jimmy Kas is presenting on a school culture. He he's written some books. He's a well-known presenter for educators. So being he was 45 minutes away, it felt like a worthwhile PD session for me this year. Some other things. So it's spring. Spring in my world is just all about celebration and planning for graduation. So, and yes, testing, but thank God we have Nikki for that.
So, we couldn't do it without her. Um, we also are keeping an eye on those. We want everyone to get across that stage on graduation night. So, at the end of third quarter, we do have a process in place for students who are short credits. and we had four in that boat this year that we needed to work with a credit recovery plan so they could still participate in graduation. All of those students followed through with that process and all are welcome to uh participate in the ceremony. I have high hopes they will be on track to get their diploma this summer. And then we have we get to celebrate our top seniors. uh we get to pick four top seniors every year and it's based on GPA. However, this year we had a lot
of we have a really strong senior class GPA wise. I think we have seven or eight maybe nine who have a perfect 4.0. So we couldn't just go on that. So, we also looked at involvement in school activities, diverse kinds of activities, leadership kinds of experiences, and we selected Lynden Anderson, Maisie Jennison, Olivia Marsh, and Julia Worman to represent us. This Wednesday night, Donnie and I will attend with their families as well um at River's Edge Convention Center to be students of excellence and get their award. So, congratulations to those four seniors. Then we get to celebrate all of our honor students on Monday, May 4th at 7 PM. It's followed by the dollars for scholar scholarship ceremony. So that's always a big night. Prom is coming. It's later this year. It's May 16th because
we are on the river cruise this year. So we are pushing it back and hoping for nice weather. This spring has not been very kind so far. So let's hope that we get a good Saturday out of that and the kids have an amazing time. And then the other pieces I like to share are when I do the check-ins for the quarters. And so this is the quarter three check-in results. Just kind of a check on climate, culture, how things are going. And I must have caught them on a good day because these numbers are really good for quarter three. I was actually kind of surprised when I saw them. But when I asked how's the school year going, 83 plus% said good to great. Um and 16 or so percent were like it's fine
average. Um levels of frustration 75% had low levels of frustration. Um 11% average. It was just 13.9% that are feeling more frustrated at the end of quarter 3. How supported they feel? 86% good to great levels of support from admin. 13.9% average support. How they feel supported by colleagues. 70 almost 78% good to great and then parents almost 70% good to great. So again really nothing to be concerned about here. I do have all kinds of individual comments that come with these. So if there is an area that someone shares with me that they're frustrated about or concerned about then that allows me to follow up with them individually. Any questions? stuff going on. Busy time. It's fun time. >> Great. >> Thank you, Sheila. >> Evening. >> Good evening. >> Um I just uploaded
today um some expense reports in the portal. It's been a few months since I updated those. There really hasn't been a whole lot of change. A lot of the percentages are the same as they were the last time we reviewed them and I believe that was before the holidays. Um the updated budget is not in there yet. So it is still comparing um it's a three-year report. It compares this year to the previous two years. The budgets for the previous two years are the final budgets. the budget for this year is the original adopted budget. So, just so you get an idea of that, um, a lot across the board, a lot of percentages are pretty close. So, there's really nothing in there to discuss that we have talked about before. They haven't changed much,
but thought I'd put them in there. If you want to take a look, if you have any questions, just let me know. Um, been working a lot on the budgets right now. So the revised budget is looking very similar to our adopted budget. Our original adopted budget we had spend down of our unreserved fund balance of about 250,000 and it's looking to be very very close to that. Um so I don't see any major adjustments. I am going through it with a fine comb right now but um just wanted to give you an update. We will go through the detail at the next committee meeting for that. And then board adoption at the May meeting. And then next year's budget, um I've been working on that. Uh it looks like we will be spending down
fund balance some more. Um and the amount is up in the area because we don't know what the legislature is doing with special ed or compensatory and those two can have a pretty big swing on what it can do to our fund balances. So, um either way those go, we we'd still probably be spending down some. Um most of the new um additions to FTEES that are later on in the board meeting, most of those all come out of fun balance except the UC comps which will come out of um the coupon fund balance. So, uh just something to keep an eye on going forward if we can sustain those depending on what the legislature does in the following years. But um for one year we should be able to handle it. It's just going
to be um eat into our fund balance a little bit to meet those needs. Um at the end of this week uh Sharon's going through an admin assistant uh conference. She usually comes back with a lot of good information, a lot of comparisons to other districts. Sometimes we make changes based on what she comes back with and sometimes it's just status quo. But either way, it's good networking to to get an idea of what other districts are doing. I have my Maslo conference coming up April 29th to May 1st. They have some really good um things coming up on this one. A lot of legislative updates, so hopefully the information they have is a little bit more final by then, but not going to hold. Um, so today we uh Amy made the first payment
for the Minnesota paid lead premiums. Um, pay those quarterly even though we take them out of the checks um every payroll. We didn't know at first that it was only going to be quarterly. We thought we would pay it every payroll. So um it went okay. the system's a little clumsy yet right now on how that work, but um we were off like a dollar in some sense. There's some grounding that the state does based on the wages we submit. So um overall, I think that's that's really really good that payment went through okay. Uh the dollar amounts are matching. So hopefully going forward that becomes a little bit of a smoother process. of course is always in pitches the first time around. As Jason and Mr. Pesel talked about, we have the food service
vendors coming tomorrow for a tour. This is a mandatory um meeting they have to attend for us to accept their bid. So if they don't come to that, even if they submit a bid bid, it's automatically rejected. Right now we have three vendors that responded that said they're coming. Of course, um Aian is one of them. Um so we will be going through with tours with that and then they can ask their questions and um we can't answer the questions at that meeting. We have to write them all down and then write up the answers and that gets distributed to everybody that is at the meeting. Um so everybody gets the same information. They're all on the same plane and a level field. So that will be tomorrow. Um later on in May, Andrea will
be going to its ed flag conference. Um we just found out about that today. Resource training and solutions is having it and as well as um it'll be one in Staples. Right now she's looking at going to the one in Staples because um Sourcewell will be at that one and Sourcewell is our support for power school. So um she's looking into that right now. We don't have times but we do have the date. the one in um Staples is May 15th. So um yeah, that would be good for her to get some updates on. Of course, the edi state keeps rolling out. Um new things with that. The new one coming up right now is they are going to be doing CTE reporting that we do through a different portal right now will be included
in N5 and NCC reporting. I know it's a lot of initials and abbreviations, but um basically they're changing it and more and more reporting will go through the edi system instead of their own portals. So that one will be the next one coming up. So hopefully they'll have some information on the changes coming through with that. >> That is all I have unless you have any questions. Okay. Can you question up? >> So for the Minnesota paid leave, that that first check that was written was 4500. So that's going to be quarterly. >> Um Minnesota paid leave, the amount we paid this time was 26,000. >> Oh, okay. I'm just looking at the one that's in the So that was just one check for $4,500. >> Yes. So we held all those in an account
and then we paid them. >> Oh, I see. >> Yeah. So they just kept there about 4500 to 5,000 payroll and then we just keep >> Oh, that's per payroll. Yeah. And then we accumulate that till the quarter's over. It >> sounds good. Thank you, Bab. >> Maybe gave me a good uh rundown of what FFA is doing this week. So, they're currently down at the state convention at the U of M uh Monday and Tuesday. They have the food science, poultry team, dairy evaluation, and companion out animals teams. So that's 15 people competing and they also had egg safety day. That was last week. So they put on for all six graders from the public and blue families. FA partnered with socks in the fire department, socks in our ambulance, Belgrade co-op and lawn
bureau. And she said it was a huge success. So that's good. And then also Katie Gregory was elected to be the region vice president out of 23 schools. So I thought that was awesome. And then we had tractor day last week about 16 to 17 tractors. Uh speech had subsections two weeks ago and took first place and everybody from the team advanced to the section tournament. And then at the section tournament this past weekend, our team took second place with four statebound entries. So Julia or four statebound uh competitors, three entries. So Julia Worman, Olivia Marshian duo, and then Norah Thompson and Pros and Liz Idan in storytelling. And that's this Saturday at Park Center. And then the national speech tournament will be the weekend of the 8th, 10th in Chakapi with Olivia Marsh and
Julia Worman in duo, Norah Thompson in pros and Kier Bor in pros. Robotics has state in May as well. Logan Wehoff broke the two mile record for track which is from like the 80s. So that was pretty impressive. Boys and girls golf has started baseball and softball. We have spring sling and Mr. Mrs. Main Street are coming up for like school events and then prom pointed out is coming up and it's also full so it's already filled up. So we're see if we can maybe get another bus because there are some students that didn't get on it but that is all I have. Ended up with really nice weather I think two years ago, right? >> Yeah. So hope. >> Yeah. Good deal. >> Awesome. Thanks M. >> Thanks special. Yeah, I'm going to jump
around on mine here because I know Sheila has she needs school acoust. So, I just want to kind of piggy back after what she said about the QCOM situation. There is an agenda item tonight for the approval of I don't know percentages on it, but it's it's on the back. So, that that is comp um instructional coach. That's what we're looking at. We're looking at two instructional coaches. It's a 6875. Again, remember our model. We did had have that at 1.5. So, we're going back to that or close to it. And again, those are two comp dollars. So, not going to reiterate a lot what she said. The the oversight committee did sit for a whole day and kind of hash this out. We went through the plan, kind of looked at that and updated
that uh in regards to what documentation was on there. I think basically there if we were in agreement, there was just a decided decision made that we just needed a word defined program. So with the instructional coach pieces that we're adding, I think that will give us that. Um, and again, I just want to make sure uh this that you know that this is covered under comp dollars. Uh, this has been posted internally. So as I process, we'll post internally and then you know given some time we may have some internal interest and then we will post externally as well. So uh, great work by that committee. We have a lot done in that day. I was kind of in and out because there were some other things going on, but uh it was work
that was needed to be done and well done and I think we got we've got a better direction we're going with that that process if and again I'm not dishing on anybody that's been part of that in the past, but I think we can really utilize that to enhance programming for our educators. we get if we get the right people in and we and we um have that working in partnership with our advent team which we have people that will do that. So any questions on that? Thank you for hanging around. >> Okay. Um I just want a couple a couple things. I love you guys training that I brought that up. Uh that's that reunification training that will be in Albany. We had our PTA has their their summer theater going on. So, we
were not able to host. Again, Joey Jensen's going to um join me uh as well as a bunch of people from our staff, Saxon Fire Department. Hopefully, we'll get somebody attend. The date is June 1st. So, um another training I'm going to with Joe is on May 5th. It's at Sterns County regarding active threats. So, we're getting a lot of this stuff. We just want to make sure we keep ourselves inundated. I'm looking forward to that re reunification training. Holy Family School is going with us. I'm guessing we'll send 10 to 15 staff members to that. That again is going to be very beneficial if God forbid anything like that would ever happen that we are as prepared as possible. It's going to be chaotic. There's no question. But we are taking steps, you know,
with the new Alice protocol, the things we've been doing there. Just make sure we are prepared as we possibly can be. Nice thing about that I love you guys training Sterns County will be there other communities that are going their police departments will be there as well because in a situation like that you know our our people are going wherever if it's more than likely if it's close in Sternstown. So, um, everybody will be talking the same language. That's going to be a great day for us just to get everybody on the same page with that. Auditorium lighting bid opening was the three. I kind of briefly mentioned that we had one competitive bid to accept. Um, again, Brent will come by, I think, when he next reports to us, give you the full detail
of that. We have huge writing needs in there. I believe there, you know, a lot of that stuff is original. We don't have quite enough funds to cover the price of the bid right now. We have $150,000 if you remember from what we're, you know, that's what we are going to spend from our those six fund the leftovers. Uh we do have a $20,000 donation uh from the Py Foundation. We will be looking for more that those programs have kind of a fundraising platform that they're going to try and roll out here in the next month. Uh again, we can use LTFM dollars to help pay for part of this. We do have LTFM allocated to other areas. So >> beyond 150, yes, I think we'll get there, but we need to approve the bid
so we can secure it. We've got about a 30-day window. Um you know, if donations come in, then we can offset that with our, you know, the other funds that we've taken the money from. I'm not too worried about June six fund in regards to that $150,000 by June 30th from 2027. We have to have that spent. We're asking every penny. So that's just an update on that auditorium lighting. Uh legislative update. Beth referenced it a little bit. I've been giving you updates from my organization MASA Conforing. I hope you've had some interesting reading there. The big thing, you know, again, like she said, is compensatory aid and sped funding. Uh there is a compensatory aid amendment that's gaining some speed in St. Paul. Um just for our you know what does that mean to
us? Well, we lost $266,000 in compensatory aid, right? And that was um that's the act. That's that's what it that's what the dollar figure is from um the for year 26 actual and then 27 current law. That's what our loss would be. Now, they come back and propose some of that back to the tune of about $119,000 we could recover of that if this bill moves forward and get passed. So, we take that obviously. Um, so that's a big one and I'll keep you updated on that. And then special ed funding, again, that's hot being hotly debated down there. Um, my understanding of this and I've looked at the House and Senate different a little bit from what the governor has in mind with this. Um we're seeing an increase and again one of the
items tonight on our agenda is dealing with our testing. We've had a increase of sped students and they you know there's there's that cost money. So uh hopefully they make some headway on that but I will keep you posted as we move forward. Last thing I have is negotiations. I have all parties initial proposals minus the bus drivers and pair professionals. I'm meeting with the parah MSEA rep and reps from our district on May 4th. I'm gonna get a hold I've talked to Rob and Josh a little bit about this in Pat, but I will set up a preliminary meeting with us three to review the proposals and collect data from we're obviously I'll do some preliminary stuff with Beth as well. So, all those are in. We're way ahead of the game than what
we were last time. So, we just need to get two more. And I think, you know, I'll be in touch with you guys this week to set up a meeting sometimes where we can spend hour and a half, couple hours just going over those things and then, you know, where figuring out where we're going to go from there. So, please. >> Okay. Any questions for Mr. Special? Okay. Are you mute? Uh, moving on to our general consent items. Approve the hiring of the following employees. Daniel Schmezing, junior high golf coach. Jacob Jennison, elementary teacher. Deb Wanderers, substitute pair professional. Joseph Roman Shankle, head football coach. Uh, approve the resignation of the following employee. Evelyn Moffett, substitute pair professional. Approve the retirement of Carol Papaki, fifth grade teacher. uh retirement of Diane Indeck, secondary pair professional
and the retirement of Andrew Quistor, custodian. Uh let's see here. Approve the change in FTE for teachers effective 2026 27 year for the following employees. Kelsey Heracov increases from a 625 FT to a 875 FTE in math. Annie Sorenson decreases from a 1.0625 FT to a 1.0 FT in English. And approve the transfer of Nick Sunderman from fourth grade teacher to fifth grade teacher. Can I get a motion to set those general consent items? >> Can I just make one comment before you? Um, I just want to recognize those people who are retiring. I think three of them, correct? Carol, Diane, and Andy. There's >> boy, their years of service there. >> All all three of those up in here pushing the century mark of total. So, again, thanks to them and they're, you know,
they're not retiring tomorrow. They'll be around yet for the rest of the year for Diane and and then Diane and Carol and Andy uh earlier, you know, later this fall. So again, thank thank you to them for the for their service to the district. >> School go around. Awesome. >> Thank you for that. We get a motion, >> Scott. Second, >> Rob second. All in favor consent items as listed here say I. Hi. >> Oh, same time. >> I >> motion carries. >> Uh, moving on to our unfinished business. We have the final reading of the following seven policies. >> Work on trying to get the resolution forations up. >> Policy 211, criminal or civil action against school district, school board member, employee or student. Policy number 213, schoolboard committees. Policy 410, family and medical
leave. Policy 513, student promotion, retention, and program design. Policy 518, DNR, DNI orders. Policy 9002, use of school district facilities and equipment. And policy 9004, distribution of materials on school district property by non-school persons. I get a motion to approve the final reading of those seven policies. >> Can I get a second? >> Second. >> All in favor say I. >> I. >> Same sign. Motion carries. 6. Onto our new business. Uh the first item consider and take action on approving the resolution for donations. It is in your portal and I will go through it. It is >> it's lengthy >> two pages. We have tons of generous people donating. Um I'll just go down the list. Um lead stone $2,500 to the softball team. Central Minnesota Manufacturers Association fund $1,000 to robotics. An anonymous
donor $5,000 to robotics. Kramer Lumber, $1,000 for the baseball field. Belling Trailers, $5,000 to robotics. Frederick's Tyron Oil, $500 for the baseball field. Central Pallet, $75. 4C's Lynn Incorporated, $500. Lowinger Commercial Indust Industries, $50. Nicks Auto Repair, Nicholas Miller, $25. Funment Plumbing and Heating, $300. Alternative Senior Care,

And Sax Center Rotary Club, $500 for robotics. That is a lot of very generous people we have in
our community to step up for making the grad party fun, keeping the robotics theme rolling, and hopefully we'll see a lot more on the baseball field renovations and some other things. Awesome. Um, can I get a motion to approve the donations resolution for donation? >> Can I get a second? Josh and by roll call vote. Joe, >> hi. >> John, >> hi. >> Motion carry 60. >> Um, on to number two under new business. Consider and take action on adding.5 FTE in elementary title. Any discussion on that? >> It's this is the piece we provide for a nonpublic full public school. Um remember we did talk we took a position because special ed means we made that full time over here. Their kids will be able to receive special ed services. This is the leftover
part that was being done full time. So it's a five title one. >> Can I get a motion to five elementary title? So move second. >> All in favor say I. I. I. Motion carries itself. Consider and take action on adding 1.0 FTE in elementary >> just general. Okay. Thanks. Does that sound special? Uh can I get a motion? Can I take these? They all individually. Can I get a motion to approve the 1.0 FT in elementary? >> Nope. I need a second. Scott. All in favor say I. >> I. >> All same side. Motion carries. 60. >> Can I get a motion to approve a 0.25 FTE and secondary map? Good motion. >> Josh Rob. >> All in favor? I same time. Motion carries. 6. uh consider and take action on adding 6875 FTE
for an instructional coach. And this is the q dollars that they talked about. >> I get a motion to approve that position. >> Rob John. >> I'll make a motion or second it or both. >> Rob makes a motion. John seconds. All in favor say I. >> I. Same sign. Motion carries 60. >> Number six, consider and take action on adding a paraprofessional intervention position for grades five through eight. >> Yeah, let me just give that 30 seconds. We have it in K4. It's very successful with these kids. We talked about this. I think this level two as well with almost fifth graders up. So, makes sense. We've got some people interested that be really good at it. So, it's a pair professional that would help assist with that. So, that's what this is. Can
I get a motion to add the pair professional intervention for grades five through eight? Can I get a second? >> I'll second. >> Any discussion or questions? All those in favor say I. >> I. Say motion carries 60. Number seven, consider and take action on notice of assignment amendment for the special ed evaluator. >> Just give this a minute as well. So we have hired we hired a person at about.5 690 hours. We have 23 new referrals this year and those all get tested. There's testing work to do on that. Um more hours so that this is improving so she can get through the end of the year. We sat down um and looked at what next year's projections are so we can better budget uh for that. Next year that that's community test evaluator.
So we we got some things in the works for probably offset some things next year, but this is to get us through the rest of this year. >> Okay. Can I get a motion to approve um the assignment amendment for the special ed evaluating teaching? Motion Josh. >> Can I get a second? >> Second. >> Um, all in favor say I. >> I. >> Say. Motion carries. Six. >> Number eight. Consider and take action on improving the language access plan. >> Thank you. Do you want to throw two cents in coming up? >> So, um, the district statute kind of changed and updated. So, starting this school year before the end of the school year, um we needed to approve a language access plan to ensure effective communication with multilingual students and families. And there
was a whole big template that we just needed to fill in what we were doing. It came down to we already have everything in place. We're doing it, but putting it on paper. So, it's pretty much my job and then um Dora who is a interpreter who's kind of like our family liaison. So, it's things that we do during the school day to help students that come from multilingual families as well as getting information about um school activities and things like that out to families and kind of digging into different community organizations and getting information to families about things happening in the community as well. So yeah, any questions for then this will just go it now just has to go on the school web page and be a part of our handbook. So >>
it's all there just needs >> it's all there and we were doing it all. We just needed it >> put together on paper. Okay. >> Awesome. >> Thank you. >> Thanks Nikki. >> We had a motion by Rob. Can I get a second for the language access? Second. >> All those in favor say I. >> I. >> Post same sign. Motion carries. 60. Number nine. Consider and take action on approving the purchase of MacBook Air computers. >> So I got it pulled up on the screen. So what you're approving? Oops. There's the dollar figure. >> Assuming it was all in the budget. Yeah, this is Becky. This is out of us probably. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> What do we do with the old computers like the 120 that staff's currently using? >> I'm 5
years old. What do we do? They >> just >> Yep. >> getting old. >> We have a couple options. We could recycle or we can auction them. Um the only way we can sell them is if we sell it to the public. So um there's a range of options to take. >> Okay. >> Would there be any reason not to auction them for recycling? >> Any reason not to auction? I mean we do we worry about data that's on them sometimes? >> No. >> I'm not certain about that. going to seven pass wiping of the computers. Um we've only done one auction previous and that was probably oh man that was 40 days so it's probably about 10 years ago and um I think we sold the computers for like $50 a piece. So we
did it online and it went so fast. So, you know, I'd have to really think about how much TV watching. Um, so >> did you buy one like that? Oh, >> for 100 kind of a gift back to community for people who are looking for a computer that otherwise wouldn't buy something like discuss. Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Good question. Can I get a motion to approve the purchase? >> Can I get a second? >> All second. >> All those in favor of approving the MacBook purchase say I. >> I. >> Same sign. >> Motion carries. Six vote. And then our added item number 10. consider and take action on the Gopher State lighting bid for the auditorium and it was the only bid >> that's it >> they received. So >> um and like
he said there is some money set aside there's some fundraising going on for that. So, but >> uh $273,933.70 >> that's what it's short or that was total >> total. Yeah, we have 170, right? Okay. Okay. So, about $100,000 short. >> Yeah. >> But this is good for 30 days. So, we want to get it approved so we can >> lock in the price. Can I get a motion to approve the lighting bid for the auditorium? >> Can I get a second? >> No. All those in favor say I. >> I. >> Same sign. Motion carries. 6. Any other items? >> All right. We can adjourn at 6:31. >> I make a motion to adjourn. >> Please. Let's get a motion to adjourn. Thanks, bro. Can I get a second? >> Second. >> Thanks, everybody.
Thanks, John. >> Thanks, John. >> Thank you, guys.
