001505 and I'm going to call this uh the regular business meeting of the St L Park School Board to order here um just to clarify we have two meetings tonight this is the regular board meeting that business meeting that we have and then we will adjourn and then we will reconvene at 6:15 for a special meeting related related to the superintendent search um so before uh we get going to go over the agenda for tonight's meeting I'll read the land acknowledgement uh we are gathered on the land of Dakota no chway peoples I ask you to join me in acknowledging the D the Dakota and oju Community your elders both past and present as well as future Generations St Louis Park public schools also acknowledges that it was founded upon exclusions and erasur of many

002indigenous peoples including those on Whose land the school district is located this acknowledgement demonstrates a commitment to dismantling the ongoing legacies of colonial power and the district's desire to support the ongoing work of local indigenous communities to thrive in our schools okay uh next thing I will do is read through the agenda we have um we do not have a superintendent report our superintendent is on a pre-planned um day off today and um so that is not on the agenda for tonight but the um next item on the agenda would be our consent agenda after that we have um three things on our action agenda I believe uh four things on our action agenda we have approval of bids for the St Lou Park High School classroom renovation phase two we have approval of bids

003for the St Louis Park Central Community Center pool and Jim remodel we have a labor agreement for the Cap's clerical employees and then we have a resolution clarifying scope and procedure of instructional material review um as the final item and then we'll have communications and transmittals followed by adjournment um with that I um is recommended that the school board approve or is recommended that the school board approve the agenda for February 28th 24 as presented have motion so moved moved by an second second second by Sarah those in favor say I I any opposed passes 60 um next item on our agenda is a consent agenda uh this is as many of you know are are uh non typically non-controversial items that um we pass as a batch and um they are considered the consent

004agenda so um it is recommended that the school board um well before I do that I want to make sure that if there's anything anybody wanted to pull or remove from the consent agenda that is um typically what we offer to um then I will without that I will it is recommended that the school board approved the consent agenda with the following business items for February 28 24 school board meeting as presented do I have a motion so moved so moved by Virginia second second second by Taylor all those in favor say I I any opposed passes 60 okay so the first item on our action agenda we had a preview of this a few weeks ago um talking about the um bids for the St Louis Park High School classroom renovation Phase 2 um

005and uh I'm going to read through what it says here then we'll take a motion and uh we'll have time for some questions if people have some questions at that point so it is resolved or be it resolved that the school board of Independent School District number 283 does hereby award 10 competitive bid packages in the amount of 3,46 9,791 be further resolved that the school board of Independent School District 283 does hereby approve the can can and general conditions for the sum of $1 15,740 m61 19,8 165 note that these totals do not include estimated budgets for contingencies fees insurance and Furnitures pictures and equipment so with that being read do I have a motion to move that so so move by and I will second it um I'll uh now I will open

006it up for discussion do we have any discussion on this item all right go then hearing none all those in favor say I all those opposed passes 6 zero next item is approval of bids for the St Louis Park Central Community Center pool and gym remodel um be it resolved at the school board of uh School Board of Independent School District 283 does hereby award 28 competitive bid packages in the amount of $1,734 N5 the have further resolved that the school board of Independent School District 283 does hereby approve the coning General condu conditions for the sum of 1,544 242 for a total cost of $3,247 37 note that these totals do not include estimated budgets for contingencies fees insurance and Furniture pictures and equipment do I have a motion on this R I'll move

007moved by Celia do I have a second on it I'll second second by Sarah um uh any discussion on this item all right hearing none all those in favor say I I any opposed okay again passes 60 next item on our agenda is labor agreement it is recommended that the school board approve the 2023 25 labor agreement for the Cap's clerical employees as presented I'll do similar I'll do a motion segment and we'll invite for for discussion so do I have this can I get a motion on this so moved moved by Virginia second second second by Taylor all right discussion time director pror here to speak to us about this all things are going well uh chair members of the board uh thanks for having us up tonight uh yeah we have another contract

008settled with our uh clerical Union the they go by caps clerical and uh Associated Personnel um uh this this contract mimics what we've been doing with all of our other groups where we've cleaned up language um made some systemic changes to tighten up some language in the contract be more explicit clarify things that maybe were HR procedures but less um less known know by just reading the contract and so we took a great effort to do a number of those things um throughout the contract like we have done with others and um this uh this group of employees um let me just get to my notes um so we you know we have uh contract increases that mimic what we've done with other groups um you know we average contract increases roughly 3% uh per

009year a little bit variable depending upon what um steps the people were on and then we brought their health insurance in line with uh where we have uh brought the board with all of our other groups this is bring this up to four or five seven well I think it's six of seven well no it's five of seven um in a couple weeks we should be able to bring you another uh and then we'll just be down to one one of our our seven groups for the the for this cycle okay CU we're on a cycle of seven and seven uh yeah seven and roughly seven and seven okay great um so any discussion by board members thank you yeah thanks and thanks to the negotiating team as well yeah and you know it's always

010we do this very collaboratively this is not an us against them it's uh you know coming together um what I love about our working with all of our groups and the Caps groups included is we don't come in you know throwing stones at each other and we don't come in with demands like we must have this language in article 4 it's well we have an interest in changing this and we discuss what that interest would mean in terms of what changes we would have to do in the contract sometimes we don't have to make any contract change um it's almost like a meet and confer and we just decide well yeah we're going to do that um or we explain what does happen and we say okay we don't even need to change the language

011for that um other times we come together together and I have an idea what it should look like but other people have good ideas about Drafting and so we come together and and you know draft the changes together so that's I think it feels more like it's our contract instead of the district's contract I apologize if I've already asked this question CH may I didn't me um so with the legislation that passed last year um for the sickle time yes um the state is paying for some of that right I don't know how that works yeah no well the state the state uh required that employers provide at at least one hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked all right which which amounts for a full-time 12-month employee uh roughly 48 Hours of

012sick leave a year six days so you had to give six days off at least um if you were working in restaurants maybe construction some of those things you know you might not have had SI time in this provided sick time with our groups it's typically a minimum of 10 days uh and up to 15 days if you're a 12mon employee in in our groups so we always have more our contracts our sick leave is always richer than the number of days required in the new plan so we were careful to to draft language that made sure that the new language was part of our plan not on top of our plan so it didn't go you know to if you were getting 10 days you didn't get another six you got the the six

013the six were part of the 10 you already got um where where we had to write additional language was the definitions in the earn sick and safe leave Law are much broader so it applies to more people um it it applies to most of our contract was spelled out I would say by Blood language or living in your dwelling and now it's expanded to caregivers and and and people who are in kin too so you aren't my real Aunt by Blood but I've always thought of you as my auntie and that a person could use sick leave up to 48 hours for that as well so this contract wasn't any different from our previous the previous contracts that were settled in the sense that we had already been giving the what we needed to L

014more than the except we had to add so can use your sickly for you you can use your sickly for your dependent child immediate family close family and all the other reasons spelled out in earn sick and safely so we had to add a category um great that was I kind of knew the answer to that but I just like to I just like to I like to put it out in the public that way it's stump the HR guys no well I think we recognize that there's a lot of things like the legisl like you do your work that's routine work but there's often legislation and things that change and different things that we're always looking at to to improve what we're doing in our contracts too so keeping up on what's a legislation

015keeping up with what what other organizations are doing and what's respectful to our community and all that so I think we really appreciate all chair members of the board there were more legislative changes this this session than I've seen in the last 20 years um there was there was um so many changes that we had had to to run and make sure we were covering yeah yeah and so thank you to you in your in the rest of your office staff work on that um and I think I've asked I always answer these questions but the when you say the cap when you say clerical these are people who are working are they working at the front desk inor there there are usually the first person you see when you come into a school um

016they you know the people who support the the principles and administration in the school uh they Mary Lou out at the front reception desk at Central here um so they're yeah they we have some s you know some um people supporting departments and many of our caps people are out in the schools yeah some of like you said some of the first line people that we see we want to make sure of course that they're being treated with because they get a lot right they're those first lines so they're getting a lot of the question they're the first ambassadors and if anybody's come in and work with Mary Lou we also know that they can be very jovial and friendly and help and and with all of those needs and everything so um so really

017appreciate this again so any more discussion otherwise we'll move for a vote okay um thank you so um all those in favor say I iose I any opposed passes 60 thank you thank you okay the next item on our agenda is a resolution clarifying scope and procedural of infrastructural material review um it is recommended that the school board approved the resolution clarifying scope and procedure of instruction material review I'm going to ask for a motion in a second here then we will read the motion in its entirety for um so that everybody knows what we're looking at here and then um we'll open it up for discussion have a vote so um uh do I have a motion to um bring this to to the board so move so move move vilia do I have

018a second I'll second it um with that um we we'll have uh our clerk read it here this is a resolution that was drafted um led by a board member in a collaboration with um with me as well in part of the in the the drafting of this and so um had a couple people working on this so with that in mind I'm going to go ahead and ask cler cler man we'll read the resolution for us resolution clarifying scope and procedure for instructional material review whereas the St Louis Park School Board of Directors envisions a school system where students are seen and valued and become their best selves as racially conscious globally minded contributors to society and seeks to align its actions with organizational core values including advocacy for Equity whereas the St Louis

020policy 604 instructional curriculum policy 606 textbooks and instructional materials and related related procedures are based Bas on state law and have been in place for many years whereas St Louis Park schools passed a resolution on August 10th 2020 focused on the school board's commitment to equity and anti-racism with wherein the board committed to working with our local government agencies and Community to strengthen the collective work of creating an inclusive School Community for students parent families and staff whereas the St Louis Park schools will continue to to comply in good faith with relevant state law now therefore let it be resolved by the school board of St Louis Park schools independent District number 283 as follows number one pursuing to Minnesota statutes section 120b 20 St Louis Park schools is required to have a procedure for

021parent guardian or an adult student 18 years of age or older to review the content of instructional materials to provide to be provided to a minor child or to an adult Stu student and if parent guardian or adult student objects to the content to make reasonable arrangements with school Personnel for alternative instruction number two the term instructional materials is not defined in Minnesota statutes chapter 120b which regulates prek through 12 curriculum and assessment number three in the absence of a statutory definition St Louis Park schools defines instructional materials as print and technology-based educational materials including printed and digital textbooks and related core materials regardless of format for example print digital graphic audio video video develop for educational purposes for students this definition is consistent with the definition used in materials provided by the un uh

023instru instructional curriculum St Louis Park public schools has a procedure for a parent guardian or adult student to review the content of instructional materials to object to this content and to make reasonable arrangements for alternative instruction number seven requests for alternative instruction optout requests based on the representation of protected classes and anything other than the content of instructional materials as defined above in paragraphs 3 and four are not required by law and will not be allowed by St Louis Park public schools number eight the St Louis Park School Board of director board of directors provides the following guidance on the procedure and scope of instructional material review a a parent guardian or adult student may request to review instructional materials as defined above in paragraph 3 and four at any time b a parent guardian

024or adult student may object to the content of specific instructional materials as defined above in paragraph 3 and 4 and make reasonable arrangements with the school Personnel for alternative instruction C objections to the content of instructional materials must be specific to instructional materials that have been reviewed and identified pursuant to paragraphs 8 A and B above blanket objections to content and representation in protected classes that are not specific to reviewed or identified instructional materials will not be accepted D if a parent guardian or adult student objects to the content of instructional materials as defined above in paragraphs 3 and four staff will engage with the parent guardian or adult student in an attempt to understand the objection and to provide Clarity on the use and purpose of the instructional materials and to make reasonable arrangements

026may be objectionable to any parent guardian or adult student or provide advanced notice of specific instructional content in this context number nine the St Louis Park School Board of Direction board of directors expects that instructional materials may be updated throughout the year to be responsive to the educational needs of students current events Etc a if a parent guardian or adult student requests to review instructional materials they will be provided the most up-to-date instructional materials as defined above in paragraphs 3 and four available at that time and will be informed that they may review they may request to review the instructional materials again in the future if they wish to see updated instructional materials B if a parent guardian or adult student requests to review instructional materials again the most upto-date instructional materials as defined above

027in paragraphs three and three and four as of the date of the new requests will be made available to for review in compliance with previously discussed procedure Let It Be F further resolve that one St Louis Park Board of Directors believes to the extent that Minnesota statute section 120b D20 allows parents Guardians and adult students to seek alternative instruction based upon representation of protected classes in instructional material it conflicts with the Minnesota Human Rights Act Minnesota statutes chapter 363a number two allowing opt outs based on representation of protected classes and instructional materials does not uphold St Louis Park Schools public schools core values of creating safe and inclusive learning and working environments in our schools number three the St Louis Park school's board of directors calls upon the Minnesota state legislature to modify Minnesota statutes

028chapter 120b in a manner that clarifies that representation of protected classes and instructional materials cannot be the a basis for seeking alternative instruction and number four the St Louis Park Board of director directors calls upon Minnesota Governor walls to support and sign legislation to modify Minnesota statutes chapter 120b in a manner that clarifies that representation of protected classes and instructional materials cannot be a basis for seeking alternative instruction thank you clerk um as was uh sort of made clear here towards the end these are things at the school St Louis Park School Board of Directors that we are um giving direction to our leadership to do this this was this comes from the from the board of directors um we have shared it with leadership so that they can take a look at it and

029see that it um aligns with um what their work is like and um what um what they needed clarification on and some information related to that so um just being clear that that it's the board of directors that are um authoring this and presenting this and uh just like any other thing we will take a vote on this and we also open it up for discussion and so at this point I would like to um open it up for some discussion and comments from our board members [Music] wondering people want to show some do you want to just start with me and go around is that how we want to do that TR I am happy to start um I think for me the two important pieces of this resolution um I'll start with the

030most important thing as an educator I don't think I've talked to a single educator in the last 20 years who didn't say that relationship building is at the primary center of a classroom learning situation teachers form relationships with their kids that's how we get them to engage and we form trusting relationships when we see and hear them and we see them for their authentic selves and when they can show up with their full self and I think one way that I communicate as a as a reading teacher as I communicate my how I believe in them and how I love my students and how I want to see them and how I and how I want to help them grow is when I have materials in my classroom that is inclusive that they can see

031themselves in that they can can see their families in and that is how students learn students will not engage with a teacher and you if you're a parent you know this they won't engage with the teacher that they don't feel likes them or cares about them they also I'm a reading teacher I've been a reader my whole life kids will not read unless they see themselves unless they can relate to it and it doesn't matter how old you are um that's that's just the truth that I know and you can ask any teacher and that and they're going to say that um the second thing that I would say is that I'm a public education teacher and public education is to me the most important system in our representative democracy without public education we don't

032have a democracy what we're staying in in in public education is that everyone matters and everyone is equal and we come together and we support public education as a community that is why public education is really it really is and I know this is totally biased but whatever the heart of our community and I am not interested and telling people that they're not welcome I'm only interested in making warm and inclusive environments for children and having a trusting relationship with an adult and having your baby being able to go to school and have Circle time in the morning for morning meeting and talk about their two moms or their Two Dads or their single parent or whatever that is how kids show up and that is what gets them to go to school is when

033they know that they are warm they are welcomed by not just their teach teachers but also the community so that is why this resolution was important to me um I want to start off by saying that I believe that we as a community and especially students within our school Community have can have deeper and more meaningful and caring connections and relationships with one another when we understand each other and our backgrounds when we see and value each other's lived experiences um I've heard from students on the topic and it's clear to me that students believe this as well um it's also clear that they believe in a right to learn uh they want to learn about various perspectives and lived experiences they want to learn about the realities of the world around them so that

034they can be effective within it and I've also heard these perspectives um echo through feedback um from community members as well um I think it's through broadening a student's knowledge and awareness that prepares students to interact with the community around them with empathy understanding respect curiosity and criticality um my decision to run for school board is still very fresh for me and I ran because of this community um I ran because of this school district because I believe it's Unique I believe it's special um the diverse backgrounds and the life experiences within our community is what makes this District special um our District's commitment to its mission and vision is what makes this District special um we strive to celebrate the diversity of all identities um and all racial and cultural backgrounds these are foundational

035elements to our district uh that provide our students with a unique and Rich tapestry of experiences and learning opportunities that I believe prepare them to share their Brilliance effectively with their community and The Wider World um I especially want to call the attention uh a portion of this uh resolution uh that affirms our commitment as a district towards creating a sense of belonging connection authenticity and identity that I think truly encapsulates the spirit as well and as well as the wishes of our students that I mentioned earlier um and we do this through our curriculum um most importantly uh lgbtq teachers staff students and parents exist within our community and they are value members of our community and when we deny understanding or the sharing of perspectives and backgrounds to a number of students I

036believe we create an environment that is counterproductive to our school's Mission has a very real potential to harm individuals in our community in a number of ways um I'm also concerned that the state law currently lacks specific guidance um around instructional materials regarding protected identities um across you know uh protected racial and cultural backgrounds as well um I I don't believe opt outs on the basis of productive identities best serves our students and runs counter to our District's greatest strengths um it's for those reasons that I support I strongly support this resolution um I guess I want to Echo what Taylor said at the end there which is about um protected classes and about how the way this law currently reads means that um someone can opt out of anything for any reason they don't

037actually have have to give a reason um which means that if protected classes aren't excluded um someone could come in and say I don't want my child to learn about people of color I don't want my child to learn about Jewish people I don't want my child to learn about people with disabilities those are literally all legal under the current iteration of this law and that does not sit well with me um for any of those groups all of those groups are are people who I would fight to have included in our in our curriculum in our books in our classroom on on the walls of our classrooms and among our staff and among our community um so I I think that that's the the the most um that's my the driving like sort of

038moral reason for me to support this I think also um I've heard from I've had the opportunity to meet with a number of our staff members about this and they really need some clarity on what exactly um what exactly do they need to do what is included um and so I really appreciate the the attention to detail in creating you know this is what the procedure is this is what we understand the law to be and this is what we understand it to not include um so I I think that um I hope that our staff will be grateful to know that um that there are some some more detailed uh procedures and sort of clarification um from this resolution so uh I you said I strongly support this um okay well I'll start I

039have a question first can I ask a question absolutely under eight I staff will not conduct or review of instruction instructional materials on behalf of any parent guardian or adult student is this speaking to um any materials that they bring in to sub out is this speaking to I think it's I think it's the any materials perod where we want I think the intention there is to not say we're going to put a lens on something and review the material for something it has to come from the parent or caregiver to take a look at that material and tell us what they object to so saying I want you to spot it staff people I want you to look for this what we think might be objectionable materials isn't isn't with an approv viw of

040the staff to do that that's up to the parent caregiver or Guardian to do that that's the intention there okay thank you for clarifying for me um so now I'll go to I echo my fellow directors um I feel like when you close down diversity and you start putting up orders for people to learn different things then you it doesn't help with the critical thinking and we we want critical thinkers um also a person of having my own faith I don't expect others to understand or agree with my belief and where I come from with some things I just um I AC that people respect it and that that um I respect your belief as well so I feel like from the clarity provided what I read that this is um that this it isn't

041nothing is black and white it's a little we don't have a lot of clarity we need some more spe specification but um I'd have to say I agree with this um thank you and I I want to start by saying you know I agree with my colleagues um strong in support of this resolution I think it's critically important um we are we're the leaders of the school district and for the last several months there's been a lot of questions around what does this mean how does this work what does this look like in practice how what does the law actually say um and at the end of the day we need to be clear about our expectations as the leaders of this district and um establish our accountability right because we are talking about a

042legal issue here right and so to an's point I think our um our Educators have had a lot of questions about what does this look like in practice how are we supposed to do this and I think this resolution is is makes it very very clear what we expect at least to the degree that we can um anticipate questions and tries to set those boundaries um you know from my perspective um this is this is about we have to follow the law right and the law says what it says which is that we have to allow opt out we have to allow um families parents adult students to review educational materials and seek alternative um materials if they object without regarding to the reason and with without regard to what they're objecting to U and

043so that is what we have done as a district historically and what we are committed to continue to do but I think the the end of this resolution is really important where we're talking about the fact that it's our belief that this law conflicts with the human rights at Minnesota Human Rights Act to the extent that it requires us to allow opt outs based on representation of protected classes and again we're talking about representation you know some of the um books that have been brought up involve um you know just you know Two Dads who adopt a child right and that's that's the representation of in a in material it's not teaching somebody um this is not about indoctrination right this is about representation and I think to the extent that the law requires us

044to do this which again to be clear we have always done and will continue to do as long as the law exists in this way it's really problematic and really conflicts with the Min Human Rights Act it also conflicts with our values um but I think you know the the piece about I think uh my colleague asked about we're not going to ask our staff we will not not only will not ask we will not allow our staff to conduct reviews on behalf of families parents guardians or adult students is critically important here because if if we do that it becomes a really slippery slope and a really problematic thing and so I ask you for a moment to take this outside the context in which this has been brought to our board over the

045last several months um and think about it in the context of another protected class race and imagine that we were to get our staff were to get a request that to opt their child out of any materials that included bip poop representation in them could you imagine that we would ask our staff to judge the skin color of people in textbooks and decide I wonder if this person might identify as bipac right and you might think that that's absurd right how could you ask somebody to do that this is the same and we will not allow our staff to do that and that's what we want to be very clear about here we will as required by law um honor requests related to um specific educational materials that have been reviewed that's what we're required

046to do and we are also advocating with our state level elected officials to change that law um you know this has been an incredibly challenging time to be at the Forefront of this issue as a board member on this District as a queer parent uh who's very open about my queer identity here and um it's I'm grateful for the opportunity tonight for my colleagues to express what we've only been able to talk about in close session right as we talk about this issue about their their support um I last spoke in this forum about this in the fall and we haven't had an opportunity to speak about it since then and I think this is a critical opportunity for our community to hear from all of this to know that this is um we stand

047together on this issue um and I'm grateful for that so that's what I have to say thank you um uh I I'm going to offer some comments here too I'm taking it so far that there's no edits that anybody is offering anything we've read it in its entirety and I believe everybody's good with the content Colin I would just note uh that in paragraph 9 in in the sentence the word above appears twice so just as a minor edit we just it's a and b it happens okay so we'll remove we'll just remove we can just remove those the yeah exactly but it's not a substantive change um you know I this it is a really hard thing to be um to be sort of navigating this right now in terms of um what you

048know what what perhaps was the intent of creating some of these opt out options and where things in vagueness and the legislature and what they intended or what they did sloppily or whatever I don't know who knows how it got to the point that it did um and what what's probably um hardest about this is I think that there's um fear and anxiety and um and I hear that from people in our community and I hear it from I've had the calls I've had the emails from people who have reached out to me to say um hey what's going on here and the prevailing message that they're getting um from the media I don't think really reflects where we're really at on this issue and and um and it's and you can hear that in

049their voice they're saying I I what I don't understand what's going on I came here to this community because it is embracing um because it is thoughtful because it is um Progressive it is um all the things that I think that we want to stand for um and I and I've heard from other people in our community as well and we we and um we were at various other levels with this um but one of the things that really stuck with me was when I've got to be on a conversation with our superintendent and two of our principles and hearing about the fear coming from our teachers and um how we put them in a really awkward space here and how that's really not fair um teachers are hardworking people they are they have a

050lot a lot to manage in that classroom and thinking about what's going to motivate my students what's going to energize my students what is um current what is what is representative um all of those things things and they want to do their best job doing that and they've got a lot of a lot of things that I put on them and um they have a lot of fear and I I think what I'm proud of is that we're trying to give them that clarification we're trying to give them that support to say here's what we're looking for here's what don't please don't be fearful about am I going to make the wrong move here you know we are trying to say this is what we're looking for this is what we need out of you

051to to put you in a in a better um situation and so I'm I'm proud that we're adding some clarification to that to our community and we are giving our leaders that that um motivate that uh right to do that right and some of the next steps in this will be to should have pass here is to to outline some information to our leaders about what this means how do we how do we apply this and I think we've done a good job putting it here but I think we need there's some we we will have to make sure that they feel supported in that as well and um you know resolutions aren't aren't a common thing they they can be anybody from our board can bring a resolution forward um one of the challenges

052that we have in our board meetings I've said this before I'll say it again is that these are largely business meetings at least how they currently are set up we do business we do consent agendas we do bid approvals we approve contracts we get some updates about how our bu how our facilities are operating we hear about our curriculum and sometimes it doesn't allow for some other discussions and board members have brought that forward and have talked about how they want to do that and we're looking for some of those opportunities to do some of that um but I also sort of when you look at the resolutions that haven't passed in the past few years um they're meaningful resolutions too I feel like this is a meaningful resolution and I'm glad to have it

053joining that small group of resolutions that we brought forward and then I think the final thing that I would say too is that one of the things that's heard about being a board member is that we're the decision makers here we are um we have to taken a lot of inform information a lot of information and we have two brand new board members who are taking in lots and lots of information and um and we we hear the people in our community we hear all the voices we get the emails we get the information and we we do we read it we we take it in and we think about it and um and so it is hard sometimes where somebody can feel like they're not being hurt but I will say you've been hurt

054whether you're happy with our decision whether you're happy with what we're doing might be different and I think we just ask for trust and we ask for your understanding that like this is part of our work is that we are in here to take in information to do to do what we think is right based on what we know of our community to do what we think is right based on what we understand the system to do to do what is right based on the advice that we get from others so um with all of those things said um um thank you for everybody for sharing your thoughts here um I am happy to um have a motion in a second so unless there's anything else anybody would like to offer I will move this

055for a vote all those in favor say I I any opposed passes 60 thank you um at this time we open up the time for communication and transmittal we are trying to make sure that we take a break here towards 6 so I would just hope that um we can keep these kind of brief but if anybody has any Communications or transmittals that they'd like to share tonight are you good I have a tiny one which is that I got to go to the band concert the high school band concert on Monday Monday yes and um their poxs concert and the nth grade um nth grade band jazz band and the Wind Ensemble and they have a brand new director this year and they sound phenomenal they sound phenomenal it was just so much fun

056we had my little nephews with us they played Star Wars is great um so just huge props to our new band director Miss Heim and to all the kids it has been a very hard time to be in in music education um just still kind of trying to catch up from from Co and they are doing it they are catching up um and they sound fantastic so yeah um just as a reminder I'm I'm a sort of a quasi Aid viewer of Park TV um I have cable and St shows up there and I do watch these things they available there they're available online and it is fun to watch some of that stuff and see and see the kids and what they do and check it out and check it out at leisure or

057whatever but just even taking five minutes to watch how hard these kids are working I remember last year I watched it and saw the footage of when they did was it the let did cash and it's that is a pretty amazing moment I would just go back and Google that if you can I don't remember what concert it is but it's really exciting um any other Communications and transmittal then we are going to shortly here we'll adjourn and then we'll be back back at 6:15 we're going to slightly reset the room here and um then we'll be doing um our interviews for the superintendent two our two of our person interviews so uh I will take a motion to adjourn this meeting so moved by hand I'll take the second second second by Taylor all

058those in favor say I I all those any opposed no pass we are5 thank you
