We appreciate your time and cooperation and thank you for the support of the students at LPA. >> Jade, can you mute your side? >> Can you tell me where that mute button would be at? I've been searching for it. >> Should be in the bottom like middle part of your screen. >> It look like a microphone and if you press it, it mutes. >> And our first up tonight is Amanda Snyder. >> We're gonna actually speak together. >> Sounds fantastic. Amanda Snider and Kristen B. >> You want our addresses and everything? >> Sure. >> Okay. Amanda Snider 1305 Lincoln Avenue, Detroit Lakes. Kristen Frank, 33158 State Highway 34, Detroit Lakes. >> Good evening. Amanda and I, Kristen,
are here to speak as advocates for both the students and staff of Lake Park Adaban Elementary. We know the board has many difficult decisions as you begin planning and executing process to make cuts to our school district's budget. We know that you will not make these decisions lightly and we hope that you seek input from the community, students, teachers, and all staff when coming to some very hard decisions. We know that cuts are eminent in all areas of school, including administration. We are here advocating that Ryan Johnson continue to be the elementary principal at Lake Park Ottoan in the teacher. >> Ryan Johnson has created a culture shift at our elementary this year that can only be described as an earthquake of greatness. As many of you already know, LPA Elementary preK through 6 had
many adversities last year that led to a very difficult year for staff and students. From day one, Ryan has been the captain that writed our ship. Both Both Kristen and I have taught in the district for many years. We have had numerous amazing principles, but Ryan Johnson is someone special. He came to our district with over 11 years of experience as an elementary principal and another seven years of experience as an elementary dean of students. His experience and excellence is evident as he has navigated many challenging situations throughout the first half of our school year. Ryan Johnson has made LPA a great place to be again. Every day on his video announcements to staff and students, he says it's a great day to be a Raider. Because of Ryan Johnson, it truly is a great
day to be a Raider at LP Elementary again. He also takes great care to be sure that all staff are in the best place they can be so that students get the best versions of us that they deserve. Our monthly staff meetings are focused on, as he says, each meeting, I need you to be as good that you can be so that you can be good for our students. While most staff meetings can be focused on day-to-day operations, Ryan focuses on the betterment of the staff and our students. If we lose our captain due to budget cuts, a captain who has not only writed our ship, but is leading us to far greater places, we're concerned that we will have staff abandon the ship due to his Ryan has also captivated the respect and attention
of all the students. He goes above and beyond to form meaningful relationships with students. His daily videos make him ever present in students daily lives. Pretty sure the P preschoolers think he's the most famous actor in the whole world. However, his daily interactions go far beyond a daily video. He is constantly everywhere in the school, greeting students with gleeful excitement and encouragement. I mean, the man dressed up as a Christmas tree and Buddy the Elf on the same day for Christmas. How much more gleeful can you get? So, we implore that you use all your resources at your disposal to make the most informed decisions when it comes to who the LPA Elementary's principal will be in the future. Students and staff deserve to continue the positive journey we are currently taking to a bright
future. >> Thank you for your time. >> Thank you very much. >> Thank you for some of us have to leave to go do some good sessions. We sneak out. That's >> Well, we appreciate all of you showing up tonight. Thank you very much. >> Thank you. Thank you. >> Okay. And now we will move on to staff reports. We have the elementary principal. >> Uh yeah. Well, elementary, middle school, and secondary principal, as I mentioned, um they should have sent something in, I believe. If you have any questions, please let us know. But we have been meeting periodically to talk about the budget scenarios. Um so, want to update you on that. I know Mr. Matt Jensen's here tonight to talk a little bit about transportation. Um, so if we can go to to
Matt. >> Sounds great. >> That would be great. Unless anybody has any questions about the principles. Um, >> I did have one and I believe I forget which one it was presented on, but in the snow days, did you did you hear if they plan on doing a snow days this year because I know that was popular with the children. >> Uh, you talking about the high school >> or Yeah. school. Um, >> we can go on it later, too. Yeah, I'm I can text somebody right now and ask. >> Okay, then. >> I don't know. >> Transportation. >> Oh. >> Uh, go ahead, Matt. >> Yeah. Um, there we go. Now, now I can kind of see what I what I put on there. Um, pretty much, uh, we've got our DOT inspections here,
the third and fourth. So, they're coming to inspect our vehicles then um and make sure they're all tiptop shape. We can go down the road. Um and then I just did some like cost breakdown u from the first year I was here to last year. um submitted that so you guys could kind of see where what we're operating per mile wise. Um I want to get more in depth into that, but I had asked at the end there if we could uh set up transportation committee meeting. Um I want to go I've got Yeah, tonight's going to be long enough and I could go for another hour. So I just want to make sure that we can get that um meeting set up here sooner rather than later. Yeah, Madam Chair, Matt and I talked
about this last week, maybe this week before too, I don't remember, but we'd like to have a transportation committee meeting separate from a building and grounds because we've got a lot of information for building and grounds. And I've talked to Mr. Zik about that as well. And transportation, we need to talk about some of the things going forward for next year. So, I think the transportation committee is Aaron, Sarah, and Susan. Aaron, Sarah, >> no, >> I was testing you guys. >> Megan, >> I think I'm on it. >> I think Megan. >> Yeah, Megan. >> I think I'm off. I was prior to election. I was on it. >> Okay. Jade, can you still hear? >> Yes. >> Okay. So, sorry, Megan. >> No, it's all right. >> Aaron, Megan, and Jade. So, if
there's an evening that would we could get together, that'd be great. Or it can, you know, be during the day or whatever. It would work out for any everybody. We can sure get that scheduled. Matt, was there anything you want to And one of the board members did ask about this. If you can see this up here, the transportation cost summary for fiscal year 2324, the cost per mile was $3.64. And then last year, the cost per mile was $3.31. I know there was a board member that asked that we get that information out there to figure out exactly what it what it is. Is there anything you want to add about that, Matt? Um, I guess if anybody had questions or not, but I can, like I said, I've got a whole bunch of
stuff I can bring to the committee meeting and >> Sure. >> give anybody whatever they need. >> Do you foresee any issues with the buses >> right now? Is there going into deal inspection? Do all seem to be >> No, everything seems to be good now. in the near future. You know, we'll have to look into that, but that's all >> discussion >> later and then we can >> get the filtered down version during another school board meeting. >> Sounds good. >> Board members, I know Jade, are you back this week or can I ask or >> Yep, I'll be back uh Friday. >> Okay. >> So, I'm available. You guys pick it. I'll be there. >> Okay. Um I know Cole's not on the committee. I don't want to have Wednesday nights with Cole,
Megan, Aaron, and Jay. Maybe Wednesday, February 4th. That way >> the 2nd through the 13th. That won't be available in the evenings. >> Okay. >> That's the time frame. >> That's right. You mentioned that. Sorry, Matt. I apologize for that. >> Um well, let's talk. Maybe we could talk. Sure. >> Send I'll send an email right now. See if we can come together with a date. Okay. Is there anything else on transportation for Matt? No. >> Okay. >> Do you want me to go through all the reports or just ask if anybody has any question? >> Ask everybody. >> Does anybody have any other questions on the staff reports tonight? >> Okay. And then we'll move on to the consent agenda. In 5.5 contract contract approvals, we have Shane Hosbbit is a BIS. Hosbbit is
the business professional of America advisor. And in 5.6 and resignation retirements, we have Matt Jensen, transportation director, effective June 30th, 2026. And McKenna Anderson, FACS teacher, effective June 30th, 2026. Yeah, Madam Chair, if I may, I know we talked about BPA before. I believe we approved that at some point. I know that we're working with negotiations as well, and that is part of that. Um, I'll talk a little bit during my superintendent report about the meetings that we've had. Um, McKenna Anderson, um, just want to thank Miss Anderson for her dedication to the school district. Um, it's, you know, a lot of times people think, well, why why are they quitting? What is it? Do they hate it there? What? uh she'll be moving to a different place and so that's why she is resigning.
Uh Mr. Matt Jensen is going to be looking at pursuing his business if I can Matt if that's okay to say that. Want to thank Matt as well for his dedication to the school district. >> Yes. Thank you very much. Um and then we'll go on to 6.0 6.1 donations. Can I get a consent agenda. >> Do Yeah, I wondered that last time you told me no. Okay.
