001And our April 8th special board meeting. Excuse me. Followed by approving a phased retirement for Philip May. We will then have two retirements and two resignations to address. Then we will rescind an employment offer because the candidate has accepted another position elsewhere. The board has 14 hires of teachers, SSPs, and paraprofessionals to consider. Followed by the hiring of one secretary. The second secretarial hire listed as 7X will need to be removed for now while we restructure the office schedule at the elementary. That's because we now have a second resignation in the office, so that changes the calculus a little bit and is now a good time to figure out the number of months, schedules that we'll have, but that person who is on 7X will be brought back next month. to hire, so So we're

002taking that off. Yep, 7X is off for now. We will then approve the additions to the sub lists followed by approving the opening of a 0.5 What? Oh, we were muted earlier. We got it. We got it. We muted it. There you go. There's a lot of Ah. Different microphones. Sorry about that, people. We're just going over the uh review of the agenda so far. We will close out Well, approve the opening of a 0.5 FTE custodian three position for the district. And then close out the consent agenda by approving the 2026-2027 capital improvements project in the amount of $905,368.16. No need for a closed session today. Board will then move into the action items, which includes approving a list of bills and wires in the amount of 3 million, 171,245.21 and approving the non-renewal

003of contracts for two probationary teachers. Thank you very much. Google agenda for April 22nd. I motion. I hear a motion by Mr. Dow. Seconded by Jack to approve. Agenda for April 22nd. Further discussion. Hearing none, all those in favor say aye. Aye. Aye. All. Public comments and delegation. Yeah, I mean What do you hear today? Any reports? Thank you, Chairman Barrett. The only reports today are the finance and enrollment. I will refer you to page five, really page seven if you like to look at the summary. Page six also, my apologies. Um But the uh most pertinent information here is our ending starting and ending balance and uh nice to know that you know, our starting balance is 34 million and change, 34779. Ending balance 32 million 97,000. It's a bit of a drop, but

004that'll be countered with some revenue that we picked up over the summer now, so still a very strong fund balance and uh you remember a few months ago it was in the upper 20s, now it's in the 30s. Then, we have, if there are no questions on that, we can move on to the enrollment report. I would refer you to page 93 in board book for that. And, uh this happened last year, too. It was encouraging to see we had a slight drop. We've gained back 10 students since last month. And, uh in a couple of different reports I've given to the state that mentioned that this year our enrollment has been much more steady than past years. In past years, we've lost over the course of 6 7 months anywhere from 45 students to

00561 students who go to other schools. This point in time, we're down about 28 students. That's a huge increase. Couple of months ago, we were only down 15. But, uh I'm anticipating like what happened last year, we'll pick up another 7 or 8, maybe 10, next month, so it's the first time in many, many years that, instead of seeing this roller coaster in our enrollment, it's more like that. That is a good sign. So, have that to present for you, and that concludes our reports section today. Extend the agenda for another 20 seconds. I'll second the motion to extend. All those in favor? Motion to extend the chairman's time. Um I'm going to call. I'll second. Thank you, Mike Craig. This vote to extend the agenda. Further discussion? That would be the only one we

006could talk to, right? So, I move seven against. All in favor, say aye. Aye. Aye. All in I have the same queue coming on board. Mhm. No men. Something else I should mention in terms of your course before I forget. Our next meeting in May. I was talking about enrollments and everything. Hopefully it will be up. You shouldn't have to change our meeting date. It's right before graduation, though. So, definitely you'll have to remember to sign the diplomas. That. Generally, that's the chair and the clerk. So. Okay, action item. Approve bills and wages for the month of March 2026. In the amount of $3,171,245.21. I'll motion to approve, Chairman Barrett. I have a motion by Nicole. Second. Seconded by Don to approve. Mr. Barrett. Further discussion. Hearing none, I'll vote in favor, say aye. Aye.

007Aye. All in I vote. Okay, approve non-renewal of contract for Juanita Achiampong. Okay, over there's a scenario teacher. I'll motion. Motion by Don. Second. Seconded by Jack. To approve non-renewal of contract. Further discussion. Hearing none, I'll look at the Ayes. Aye. >> Aye. Hold. Aye. Four. One. Okay. Approve non-renewal of contract for Cathy Christian, probationary teacher. Motion to approve termination. Okay. I have a motion by Nicole. I'll second that. Seconded by Eric Mike to approve the non-renewal contract for Cathy Christian. Christian. Further discussion. Hearing none, I'll look at the Ayes. Aye. Aye. Hold. I vote. Okay. And explain the outcome. Aye. I'd like to get a couple volunteers if I can. Um If you don't want to volunteer, I'll pick one to pick you. Have a meeting with an employee issue we have. Admin. Okay.

008Um I could try to help you, Mike. Okay. And Nicole, anybody else? I'll go. I'll pick you. Ha ha. Me, yeah. I already know all it, though. if you're going to be in there? Well, you'll be perfect for that. So, you mean us three in there? Yeah. Okay. >> Plus And then I don't know who else is going to be in there, but it's a Who they going to get? Like a hearing? This is a no no particular related to special ed. All of them. I'll probably be there and Dustin will be there. Yeah. Oh, wait. What about dates? We don't have a date >> Oh, we don't know yet. Oh, okay. Yeah. Yeah. This is quite a We can coordinate that by email maybe a date, yeah. Okay. Dominic Michael Afternoons are better for

009me. Okay. If that's possible. Next week will work, not this week. Yeah. They They you you can just take care of that. I've set it up that Yeah, hopefully. Great. I had one more thing on under miscellaneous and that we're still sitting in the 40s for a possible graduation. So, if we graduate, let's say even low 40s, 42, that would be 10 more than last year. Wow. 15 more Yeah. from the year before. Good job, superintendent. Well, I want to give credit to Principal Shelley and then academic team who are really doing all the groundwork, but You're the leader. Oh, come on. Yeah, thank you. But, they are working hard to meet with these kids to make sure they know what they have to do still. They met with the seniors today in the culture

010room and uh reminded them, "Guys, you know you got 6 weeks left. Let's finish up. You have an outstanding homework piece, get done. We want you to graduate." So, they're being pretty um a lot follow through, pretty relentless, but making it work. Sometimes you have to be that way, so kudos to Shelley and Melissa Phillips and Mr. Eggers and Delaina Smith and Mr. Eggers. Yeah, all our principals Yep, and Delaina's been helping with that as well. Who? Delaina Smith, our I I worked with her before that. Mr. Eggers, remember he All of us and Mr. Eggers. He only recently but he's been working on that the past 10 plus years. Yeah. 5 plus years. And you know, these kids were fed by the middle school, so kudos to Tracy Olsen as well for helping them.

011They're set up for success, so just make it happen. So, that's all I have. Okay. Anybody else? I had some seniors approach me about our graduation ceremony, seeing if there was there any room for some type of guest speaker to have some good words as a part of it. Actually, there's a note here. Seniors met. Yeah, we just met with seniors this morning, talked to the classes. And talked about caps, gowns, events here in May, and speakers. They did have a chance to talk about what they want for speakers. At this time, the class decided they do not want additional speakers, only the valedictorian, salutatorian, and the principals. That's a decision that they made in the class, so so I don't know who you talked to, but maybe they could still The way things were

012>> the feeling kind of like they asked for it, but it Yeah. I don't care either way if they want to But usually Now, usually like those in the chairman they usually Mhm. have a little something and is that the only one? Usually and then the principal and and the principal and yeah. And then And we had like your keynote speaker. Mhm. Yeah, my senior year we had Calvin Johnson give a really good speech. Yeah, and that's okay to do, you know. I empathize with the kids who have thought of them and just think they're a little warm. Something more. Yeah, a little more ceremony, a little more to remember. Yeah, last year was a cool kind of little like football. Right. Yeah. Although It was like It may depend upon the year and the

013culture behind, but I remember in the Fiji they just well again all them kids graduated. Yeah, forever. But they wanted most kids just want to get in and out do their parties, but if that's different here, we should honor that, too, and give them a chance if they want, but Looks like they made their decision there. Now we can get it, isn't it? Thursday night, yeah. Yeah. Can I interrupt for just a second, Tim, and add a piece? This is Shelly. Yeah. Okay, so there are a couple of things planned, but I'm not sure if the kids want everybody to know or if or they are surprise for families. And nothing bad, by the way. Um, but we do have we are going to showcase a student's musical talent, um, which was discussed, um, in

014the meeting with the seniors this morning, um, and then there's going to be some showcasing of all of our seniors. Um. But I don't want to give too much away cuz I think they want it to be a surprise. Very nice. Thank you for sharing that. And that's all I have to say. That's a wrap on my end. Okay, so that that's the speakers all right. I mean the deep field still do it. Or whoever Yeah, well, he'll he'll I think so. Yeah. I mean sound system get fixed? I believe that did, too, with, um, what's the company that they came up here and took care of things, so I will double check that. Yeah, it's cuz like music they're in the or challenge and it was doing good, but then there was like I'm

015talking about it cuts out. Mhm. >> So it it depends It's like you need to have somebody who can in the back and adjust, you know. Yep. Or you get a little too excited, you know, and talk too loud and it pops out for a couple seconds. I don't know. That's beyond my And I have to go back and turn off all the fans, too. It's impossible to hear with all the fans on. Yeah, I mean Yeah. Or else we'll have to hire out again if that doesn't work, right? >> Right. Yeah. Right. Yeah. I don't know anything Actually, you know what I'm going to There was a lady here that graduated in 1973. Her name was Kathy Ament. She went on to become a doctor. I don't know what I don't know what She

016must have retired now, but she works for Blanton. Out of Grand Grand Rapids Blanton Foundation. >> Mhm. She'd be a good speaker if they decide that they want one here. Kathy Ament? Yeah. Doctor? Doctor. Doctor. Yeah. Yeah, I think she did, too. I don't know the past year. Oh, she did? Yeah. Graduated in '73. And then we had this other lady who was this year judge. Native lady. Mhm. She did a good job. Was that Seely? Seely? It's a judge by the name of Seely from out of Boston, I believe. I don't think Seely now. But that was the name I had That was the name of the lady. I think she was married to uh uh Troyer. Okay. Yeah, now I remember her. Amy Key, I remember that. That was her name. Justice thing.

017Let's get the governor. There you go. Let's get the president. Oh, no, not that one. Okay, first go to the meeting here. All right, we're going to side with I'm going to adjourn. I'm going to adjourn. Yeah, I'll entertain a motion to adjourn. I'll make a motion to adjourn. Carol Barrett. I'll make a motion to adjourn. Second. I can wait till we adjourn. All those in favor say aye. Aye. 5-0 121. Meet you all. Good night, everybody.
