we are live and it is 6:30 uh we are live and it's 6:30 call order expand the Pledge of Allegiance United States America stands na indivisible andice for all so our first item on the agenda is adoption of the agenda is there a motion to adopt the agenda so so move by Mr sh is there a second second by Mr ver favor opposed same sign motion carries unanimously next item on the agenda is consideration of visitors the first person I have is Jean H um with the topic of petition thank you School Board staff I'm G Odell resident in O district 15 I talk a little bit of petition I got here over the last several years our public office holders at the federal and state level have impl Implement some of the very bad

policies and regulations that now trickly down to the school district these policies are undermining the US Constitution and the storting our judeo Christian CS what I have here is a petition that was done last year 2022 during the summer it contains a signatures of 79 people 100 residents that I visited along with other people I think it represents a fair ratio for the entire District at the top of the petition I'll hand us out or 14 items that are kind of line items that we do not want to see in district 15 uh some of these are you're familiar with and I'm not saying that these uh items are in this school district I think some are but the point is we want to keep mod and a couple things I'll read a few is

critical race Theory which tried to get into school here some last year year before no gender affir AFF Firmin no equity only equality no sexualizing of children no social emotional learning as and uh no medical decisions made for children without parental consent we're requesting that school board and the school administration review the list is comment inwriting for each of the items we can modify and expand with discussion on those items you request they're pretty blunt that there's regular room to talk about what we mean and what it could all Encompass please direct your comments back to me we need to give a direct answer if these issues exist in district 15 or not I will email this this statement uh to the school school board and we like some responses by February of 2024 sooner

there's a lot here and you can you can uh respond in kind with a whole blunt statement of the whole thing I prer address each issue because that's how something's going to be accomplished and there's no misunderstanding what we're talking about thank you I guess give it to you I can take it yeah thank you Jean thank you the next person this evening is Barb Anderson on anon's presentation hello school board and Community also I'm barbar Anderson I live in St Francis resident of the community I just want to thank you for having um the opportunity to let us in the community who aren't staff or anything to listen to Anton TR came on Wednesday and we we met here and the American init education program sponsored it and and it was a great turnout

there was a lot of people here and he really talked about in a broad way it was wonderful understanding each other understanding that we each have a story that everybody has a story and a history with them and can we listen to each other and learn from each other and also the importance of thinking and so I think of our goal as a school district is to prepare our thinkers for the future so he he really helped with that and getting that across to the rest of the community so it was quite good so the respect of people who maybe have different points of views and also have grown up in a different way so thanks for making that possible otherwise we have to go into the cities or someplace to get these opportunities so

thanks to the Indian education program the board and community and who let us know about it so thank you thank you B next item on the agenda is a consent agenda is there a motion to approve the consent agenda Mo so move I miss p is there a second second second by Mr sh any discussion seeing no discussion all in favor signify by saying I I all oppos sign motion carries read next item on the agenda is information items and reports the first item is St Francis High School Council report I don't think there's a kiddo here tonight no is there a written report no no written report the next item on the agenda is the middle school report principal crley hello thank you for having me today pleas talk all things middle school with

you um presentation tonight is really about giving you just an overview of some of the things that we are um working on some of them the things that we talked about last year but maybe the next steps we're taking as we Ed these into our school and um also just to give you an update on on a few news a first thing I'd like to talk to you is uh PBIS you've heard us talk about PBIS now for how before I was here and one of the ways that we've been able to keep PBIS um to be continuously embedded into our school district is we have um two study groups that are through the teacher Academy um so it's group of teachers that are dedicating some of their professional development to um continue and to

embed PBIS last spring we met and we did a inventory I can't remember the name of it anymore but it's an inventory from the PBIS Institute that said what are some of the that we could analyze some of the things that we're doing well and some of the things that we needed to improve upon so with that then we took that information in between these two groups one's called implementation and data analysis that's not a really a creative name but that's exact exactly what we do um and then the other one is celebration and rewards which which is also part of tbis those stud gr groups are separate um some of the same members some members are in both groups but we met in August to kind of kick off school year to get things

ready and then we meet about once every trimester to review our data are we making an impact what type of things should we be doing differently and then also plan the celebration and rewards for the um we will having trimester one celebration next Wednesday and really grateful for this opportunity through the teachers Academy to have these study groups because I I really think that through this we're able to keep an initiative to keep going rather than it just being something that you start and you aren't able to finish do well so every year I think we're getting better at it and I I really think it's because of these two groups so um restorative practices and circles this is having a major impact on our climate and culture at the Middle School the first thing

I'd like to go over are the six restorative questions now if you think about the six restorative questions if you just I'm not going to read those to you but if you look at those what they're really aiming at is looking at how um an incident that may have happened and I think what's important for you for us to remember is it's not just the student who H um did maybe the inappropriate behavior the wrongdoing but it's also the people that are impacted by it so it could be student to student it could be student to staff it could be staff to student but these six restorative questions really allow for growth to occur with a mindset and to think about how you can do things differently and if you think about like even conflicts

maybe you have a new workplace or committees you're on or even the school board you know using these six questions to really work through something is a very healthy way to do it so we're excited about teaching our young adults to also start um working through issues using these questions this also really allows for conflict especially around middle schoolers for their relationships to continue um I've raised four girls I can tell you conflicts happening teenagers and this is a really a wonderful way to do that um circles we continue to do circles at the middle school um it is something that we will use uh with students to students we'll use it in our classrooms um I've used it in professional development I've used it in team meetings where we really we really are disagreeing

on what what we need to do next and by using a circle it builds relationship in really has that trust and sharing and everybody is being heard that's at active listening um so uh we just did a circle last week during our Wednesday uh professional development and um it was uh very effective in um kind of closing the day and bringing um a sense of community and uh working together a team mentality so that is continued to work and teachers are doing it in the classrooms too another thing I'd like to tell you about is um where everybody belongs I feel like this has really starting to take off at our school what it stands for is that um we call it web um it's a middle school orientation and transition program that welcomes sixth

graders and also new students into our building it makes them feel comfortable throughout the first year of Middle School um it really has kind of that their their positive role models kids apply 7th graders at the end of seventh grade apply to be that in eighth grade and then during the summer in eighth grade they go through training um the whole first day for our sixth graders as pretty much led by this group right here this what these our web leaders what I'm really excited about tonight to bring to you is they have taken a um active role in our say something group um save something is um as you know it's our um reporting system that we use throughout the district but it is really more than that and we were able to attend

a say something conf um uh conference and there was also High School this house just middle schoolers and a couple staff members but we were able to attend it and it's through the Sandy Hook promise um promise say promise Club it's it is the reporting system but what I well I think I knew it but this really solidified for me is that through this group we can do a bunch of different activities for example in September it starts with hello which means that's how you start to build relationships and make people feel welcome in your in your building it's just a simple thing like saying hello um in January it's encouraged change change makers what can you do to make a change in the world what are some positive things that you can do or

within your school Community February is being talks about empathy and being empathetic and including one of our pride words is inclusive right the I is inclusive so I was really excited about the activities and the resources we we were able to this is just one book but we also have a few a huge set of resources available online and our web leaders are the ones that are um because part of web is also anti-bullying and they are really the ones that are going to be our leaders in our school with this so those young people right there were also reive that training our goals um basically we are stretching for a 10% just like the uh you know what we're hoping to get in our a maath and our a reading scores and then for

our Behavior we are focusing on the positive which means 90% of our middle school students are going to earn 250 PBIS points or more each trimester so we will still be looking at the suspension data and the behav the major and minor reports and all of those things but we are also really focusing on that positive intent teaching kids the positive ways to behave and then um they earn points through doing that so those are our three goals some of the things that we're doing with our goals is um see this is math a math is frequent assessment I think with the fast bridge in the fall winter and spring that data is really helpful um today we had a Sit team which is a student intervention team and we were really trying to get

to know a new student and we were able to pull assessment scores and behavior and attendance and all those type of things that tell a story we also have that for our our current students and those assessments allow us to learn individual things about students but it also allows us to look at our our core instruction is it working what things do we need to do differently so I am excited that we're back on that journey I feel like kind of towards the P pandemic and the end of it and even last year or so it's been you know we kind of wondered what the data was it about them or was it about them getting transition back into school and I toally believe now that we're at a place that we um we need

to use this very um intentionally and effectively I'm super excited our plc's um they are they all have a either a reading or a math goal and they're focusing on student achievement instructional strategies and data analysis we were through a training at um this PA and people asking for additional training so uh um they are really looking and working together to make sure that they're moving forward in their instruction and learning uh grade level teaming that's a middle school term um we have this is our second year of going back to Middle School concept of grade level teaming and in our teaming um we are really able to wrap our H arms around our our our students when they need extra help we're able to plan things for them um and I'm going to talk

a little bit more about teaming later but they are often running and they are so important to the success of our students MCA awareness I feel like there's a kind of a negative um thoughts maybe sometimes through the MCAS and I guess that's one of the things we'd like to raise awareness about is why do we do them how what how do we use them um where where can we go with information we get with them because yes we have fast bridge and we have common assessments and we have those other things but it is one more piece of information that we can use to understand um where our students are at our Pure leadership team I meet with them once a month and they really are taking a strong um focus on the instruction

in our building um it's a group of peer leaders that are assigned to different groups might be math language our specials Etc we talk about what we want the PLC Focus to be we do checks check-ins on plc's and it's really a way um for example one of the things that we wanted to do was talk about how we could um get information out to our teachers so that they could have ideas what to do in reading and math um in our Saints time classes so we talked about that I don't have I have it here somewhere but we have a list of things that teachers can do for reading and Saints time and math and Saints time and any other downtime um it can be simple things like having them do flashcards it can

be a website that they can direct them to it can be that gral fashion thing called reading but there's there's ways that we are putting that into in play at other areas in addition to reading and math class language arts interventions we have you know interventionists but we are trying find to learn more about how do we offer and make sure our students are getting the things that they need from the data and the knowledge that we're gaining from them in the classroom and then the last one I talk already but the Math teachers are are really working about how hey how can they work with science how can they work with um Tech right there's different ways that they can work with them to reinforce the math concepts that our kids need to know

reading isn't um much different um other than you can see that they are also language arts are also doing it to support our reading goal for uh our Behavior goal um our PBIS goal um we have the providing expectations and teaching skills and strategies for success everi which is used Mondays during Saints time we already talked about that a little bit but that's anything from how to be a successful student to a financial management uh to all those things that help um kids um have those essential skills to be successful alternative to S suspension I have a feeling that um somebody's going to be talking about that tonight Genesis uh but we have found that to be great U reflect on choices identify alternative Solutions are a couple of the things that they do over

there but our kids that have gone there um you can tell that they've really had some intentional work done on um maybe their choices and and um and what they can do differently the next time Middle School model uh that is what I live and breath but it I believe 100% that it's a system and structures to support our students from the age 10 to 14 um I had talked about that a lot last year I gave you a handout about that but it is things that we are doing um but we can get better at it we can keep pushing behavior interventionist uh we are behavior intervention we have two assistants that work directly with that we have a whole team focused on supporting individual student needs we have counselors social workers our behavior

intervention assistant our assistant principles our special ed our EAS we have a whole bunch of people and we meet we try to meet um every Monday at 220 to just see how we are working together to support those needs of our students talked about restorative practices and circles and then our student intervention team sit um that's really where we provide intervention and supports to identify students needing additional assistance in Reading b or maybe Behavior teaming professional learning communities I want to say that we really focus it on teaming and not just meeting okay there's meetings where you need and you discuss and maybe hand out information but then there's teaming where you're working towards a common goal and I talked a little bit about the teachers Academy earlier but uh one of the things that

they also allowed me to do is to do a um the art of coaching teams by Elena Aguilera it's focused on building resilient communities that transform schools and so we have done done an 18-hour um study group uh we did uh this summer I think we did 10 or something hours of it and then we've been meeting every couple months and we do a chapter every couple months and it is things that are not necessarily necessarily comfortable uh we're talking about emotional int and if you ever thought about your emotional intelligence how you work in a group or um maybe in relationships but it does affect teing uh we talk about having some um healthy conflicts and one of the things that uh we gave uh we we gave to some people we have to

get out to the rest of them is how do you have healthy conflicts can we model that as an adult can we teach that to our kids um I disagree with you about that but I want to hear your thoughts um I have a request to make are you open to hearing it you know there's there's there's ways that we can have these healthy conflicts and so we're studying that because if we're going to talk about data and instruction and those type of things and it's people it makes you feel vulnerable when maybe you have to challenge somebody and about how can you do that in a healthy way we're really intentional about improving our teaming and our PLC practices to improve student learning instructional practices it's really what we're living in breathing right now

what is a great team you have to have a prodct right you have to have a process and you have to have learning so that's really what we're F focusing on the prodct are what we doing is it valuable useful appreciate appreciated are we collaborating and our is our learning as us as professionals and then also our students one of the things that I'm really excited is we are getting our targeted Services after school program going again um we are a kickoff date of December 11th um and it's a program that's designed to offer extra help to students after school in reading and math um it's teacher referral and they you know by now they know their kids pretty good about who with this would be a good fit for um it's Top by licensed

teacher um it's a lower student to teacher ratio they have additional time to learn new skills and improve some of those old skills maybe they need a brush up on some division or multiplication and we know that from all of our testing we're doing right um It prepares students for future success like how can I feel a lot of like uh it's an honor but it's also sometimes a lot of stress is how we have this is a really good push before get get into high school right what can we do here to make sure that that last push that they get there now they saying they don't have things at the high school but we are kind of C in between that middle and high and then it's no cost to participate I really

want to thank um um Ben paage for helping us get this going um he's met with Mr bergus one of our sister principles myself that are trying to get this up and running so that will happen on Mondays and Wednesdays right after school um and there is transportation and it's largely reimbursed by the state y yeah shouldn't we're trying if you get about a 15 to one for the teacher ratio then it's kind of a wash so that's what we're kind of aiming for so it is reimbursed by the state largely how how do they figure per student or how are they figuring the funding it's um you know I'm not an expert with it but it's um it's based on Stu eligible students uh participation in the program so it goes hour by hour

if I'm not mistaken Ron can certainly correct me yeah so we work through the the alc Alternative Learning Center we have to fill out like a It's actually an alternative to it's another school so to speak and we put in attendance and then that s into the state for reimbursement we get so much per hour per child so it goes through the alternative funding not through the middle school yes okay yeah and that's hope B has been really helpful because I don't know a lot of that so he really helpful with us on that because the title funding used to run through free and reduced title before it so I'm going how totally separate program yeah Title One the way run it during the instructional day Target Services has to be after school before school

or during the summer and that's that's the alternative school it's funded under that umbrella Mr B and when when you expect that to start up December 11th yep and we're going to run it through May 8 I think so one quick question how how do kids qualified for so right now we're doing referrals from their language arts and Math teachers and then we're calling home and talking to tell the parents and um we've working on that today and tomorrow the next day see if they're interested if it works with other things they're involved in and we'll just keep working until we fill those spots I like the way it's now with the alternative I remember on Oakland I remember the funding and and how this worked through there and um with Title Services I was

always kids got help but it was generally how you got money from the state was free and reduced lunch and so it wasn't really tied to academically it was more this is how many free produce this is what you get and then you do what you can with them so think this is more based on need I like that and if I could um explain that a little further the targeted Services Program has certain criteria that you have to meet there like seven or seven to 10 different possibilities to qualify they're very general and so if there's a concern expressed by the teacher we still have to make sure that it meets one of those qualifications an assessment a state assessment yeah so yeah no Ben Craig and the middle school team will make sure

that that happens Miss West is there any funding tied to that for transportation so what we're doing is we're hopping on we're hopping on the um Elementary we're hopping on the the existing Buss so Middle School finishes before the elementary does and so I assume targeted services will happen right after school and then they'll get on the same buses that the elementary kids will be on so there's not a significant cost to it you know there there'll be some extra stops along the way it might impact the length of the route but should be I you that okay what's next for us we're going to keep working hard on our goals we're going to keep the eyes on the prize so to speak and and make sure that we're doing the best we can um

and hopefully you're going to make that 10% increase but if we don't we're going to be proud of of how hard we worked to to try uh we really would like to grow opportunities for our students our active school activities um Target Services is one of them but we'd like to find out some things that our kids are interested in and see if we can find some ways to um to help our kids have some of those opportunities After School uh study show that when they're engaged after school they do better during the school day um you know it's it's just I can show you studies that that that say that and it makes sense right you know you have something that you're tied into probably of Saint and you're going to be um schools

going to have that extra um meaning to you um College and Career Readiness you we're going to do our College and Career uh Fair again to Anoka Tech and an NOA Ramsey uh what're really looking at how we can expand those we have some ideas and my next time I will share with you what those are um that I present uh we're going to continue to implement that Middle School model we're going to push hard for that it is is not always easy um doing a master schedule so that our teachers can have common prep times is really hard and it takes a lot of work and it takes a lot of time to schedule 950 students a lot of it is looking at each student and finding the thought for them um there is

no great middle school scheduler out there that does it for you like the high school they put the requests in and they run it and they maybe have to tweak some Elementary they put them in classes Middle School is really about teaming and we can run some of it but we always end up tweaking it um but that's an example that schedule we're actually doing some schedule work this Friday um for next year already just to see have some make sure we have enough time to keep pushing um we're going to try really hard to share our stories we've been sending out a newsletter this year through s'more which is a new thing for us us um we've done the what's the name of the program we used to use can yeah and now we're

doing newslet uh through s'more and really trying to make it more inclusive where people are sharing information all things are doing in a classroom for example sixth grade science just work with sixth grade language arts in one of the teams and they were um the kid had kind of a cross-curricular instruction going on the kids really liked it so we put a little um um blurb in there about that and then we're also doing students of the month uh those kids are are selected by their teachers for exhibiting our PBIS Pride word paired respectful inclusive determined and engaged so that's where we're at any questions I think that's it Mr two questions were on your goals um you talked about frequent assessments um do you have all the resources you need to do the assessments

to reach those goals of that 10% so really looking do you have the ability to do the assessment that you want to or do you need need something from the district well I'm never going to turn down that question but I think right now with the fast fridge and having Stacy and her team available to us that's been really helpful I was on ph with Sam today asking me some questions about data so I think thank you for asking that but I think at this time I don't know what I don't know so right now for plugging away um I think um that we we are good Miss West going back to the six restorative questions what does that like like it look like who's heading that conversation yeah so with those six restor of

questions let's say that it is a re-entry meeting from a student that's been at Genesis or suspension at that type of meeting that might be one of our assistant principles the parents could be there the student um that situation um if I was doing maybe uh two kids aren getting students aren't getting along um it might be me and the two students they both have to agree to do it if you don't agree to do it it doesn't work and so um some it's it's really depends on the situation how often are their parents involved in any and their re-entry meetings every U we always we have a guardian or parent available if they can't come in because of work we Le get them on the home so re-entry you're talking about like if they

utilize Genesis or suspended suspended M okay yeah the conflict between peers um so fari from having any parents has just been the students but I could see maybe what that would happen but at this time it's just been student to student any other questions Mr another one on your MCA awareness yeah so raising that awareness that's not just a middle school problem so um I'd like to see what our District's plan is we've talked about that at our DT and meetings I agree it'd be nice if we could raise awareness of what what kind of information do we get from them why are they important what um what can we um what information people need from us to understand that we're going to rely on those heavily to do other things so that's something I

think we need to thanks any other questions thank you for coming today thank you very well done thanks next item on the agenda is Student Services report with de Parson Deb Parson and Steve Brown good evening um we are here tonight to give you an overview just an update on student services keeping in mind that the student services uh department has over 13 programs in its or sites in its prview and each of those sites has many programs within it I've asked Steve to join me tonight because Genesis is kind of the hottest one out there right now and he is the gentleman running that program so I brought him in his for his perspective and expertise but um see we will start with I thought we'll start with the young ones right so early

childhood um is servicing about 250 students at this time keeping in mind it's birth 25 we have two different sites Early Childhood family Center which is the birth to five uh whole program and then we also have one at SF and that's the four and fivey olds we don't have the birth to three there um at this time that's just kind of a satellite operation going on there um primarily we try to provide services within the program we do have a couple pull out models we have some speech that pulls out we also have speech that goes in OT Services go into the classroom um and then birth to three is service in the people's homes so we have teachers and a licensed staff that go out into the home for those so and if

you look at the numbers for birth three we're looking at over 50 students right there or almost 50 students so that's a lot of home visits that these people are doing so um travel time and everything it's it's kind of a busy gig for them down there Elementary we have our three different sites so I broke apart just so you could see the along with the mainstream what else do we have running at each of the sites Cedar Creek has a life skill center based program which Services 10 or 12 students at this time we had an ASD Center based due to lack of Staffing um we needed to dissolve that program for the time being which is absolutely heartbreaking hoping to get that restaff and reestablished um in the near future um um pretty

significant impact to um four of our students down there along with that we have the what we call the resource so this is students that receive special ed services but are not in a center based program they may come out for say just reading and then back they go a class so we have 61 students at Cedar Creek currently being serviced under that model if you walk across the parking lot we have the speth and we have the high energy program so this houses students and it's a setting 34 program for students that really struggle behaviorally engaging in the different um mainstream opportunities that are there so uh unfortunately we're running 2 to three EA short in in that program we do have a Social Work position posted that is yet to be filled so

we currently have nine students um with two to three and we just learned today that we have another two to three that are on the waiting list to get into that program um so if we can get staffed that might change if not we are looking at more of the Run placement for those students sfb currently Services 52 in the resource they do not have a center based program within their uh brick and morar just due to space we we outre that space very very quickly so we just don't have enough uh physical room for a center based program over there so we've accessed East bethle and Cedar Creek to house those programs um moving on to the secondary again the middle school and high school so the middle school does have the life skills

again we have 17 students housed in that program um doing some fantastic learning there the resource we have 115 students at the middle school level level that are receiving some type of service and it it may be one academic area might be several throughout their day or maybe some behavioral interventions but we have um 115 in that program the high school also has a life skills center based program housing 21 students at this time and we are rolling out a new uh design model for the um students and stations so kids have more Hands-On opportunity more movement throughout their day so that is um what we're really trying to roll out Tri trimester 2 and then start looking at the growth opportunities provided there so I'm really excited about that at the high school in

the resource setting we have about a 100 students currently and just found out today we have three more movein so the numbers are going up still do the resources um counts include uh speech language pathology students or not no okay no these are not these are students that receive Services they might have speech in addition to saying AC academic but I did not pull in the speech only that would inflate the I mean right really really be high thank you now the Learning Center this is where we've seen the most change since I've come into this role uh the restore program houses two different rooms we have a middle school room and a high school room the Middle School room and again restores for students who struggle with uh behavioral needs and requires a higher

level of support to get through their day uh Steve is also in charge of restor so please feel free to jump in and and polish it up for me uh we have um the Middle School is a setting four because they don't have access to their peers on sites where the high school room is a setting three because they have the opportunity to go out thanks to Saints Academy being right on site so that has worked out very very well for us to have that opportunity to go back and forth we do have some middle school students that do shuttle back and forth to the Middle School to gain some um more opportunities there we try to do like a beginning of the day like they either start at the middle school and come over

to limit the transitions or end of the day but we really try to meet the kids where they're at and what their needs are and where they'll be successful so um Steve has been instrumental in organizing all of the shutts back and forth to provide those for the students you look at the title of it being restored it's to restore faith in that student whether it's for us with them or for them for themselves um we are making sure that they are have access a grade level material so they are learning what they're supposed to be learning in their grade levels and if we have to differentiate and you know water it down a little bit for them to feel more comfortable and confident with the content then we do that as well so um

they're not learning at any um they're not being presented with any light work you know which was a lot of the concern so we're making sure that they are getting exactly what they would get if they go to the middle school because if we are able to help them with their social emotional needs then we would love to see them go back to the Middle School in they took four years that's always our goal is to get them back in with their peers so Genesis can I just W um you should be able to yeah okay try it I mean we're gonna find out so I think you could just hit slideshow and then it should pull up so I'm going to take a moment and I'll talk about the Genesis alternative to suspension program

and feel free to stop me with any questions that you may have so by the Numbers 62 referrals 50 students were referred nine of those students more than once 50 of those referrals were for secondary students this is just a quick snapshot uh by the individual Administration that have sent in the referrals I don't think there were any surprises for us on the numbers that we go all right so as you see the larger areas are are the secondary schools uh the smaller being the elementary schools most repeated referrals fight physical altercations there's been 24 of those profanity s and incident involving inappropriate language or actions towards that staffs are not necessarily being profanity but just the just offensive words and language being used you know sometimes we take clean words and make them very

dirty and that's what has happened in those situations referrals that required additional actions threat to staff looking up school shootings assault on another student and sending images of guns to students these have were referrals from individuals but it required us to do some additional work because of the nature of those referrals so um those were the highest and most concerning of the referrals that came through Genesis so you can get an idea that no matter how heavy the situation is we will welcome that student into Genesis to provide them with some support next steps address students that return to Genesis conduct follow-up interviews with students after they leave and support schools with interventions to reduce final referrals so uh the second one being conducting those follow-up interviews with students um I will go to the

high school for something totally separate and I'll have students that will in the jens's program say hey Mr Brown come up to me and shake my hand and say hi to me and so I I just take those moments how's it going how are you doing um how are you feeling are you going to come back to Genesis and they're like no no no I want to come back there so it's been a wonderful experience so I am looking forward to the opportunity to go and actively go and say hey I'm here to see you I'm here to see how you're doing I'm not just here by and bumping into you know by circumstance so I think it's really really important for the students to have that opportunity uh to know that the Genesis Program

isn't like a slap on the hand we're not there to punish you uh we we're there to help you understand the mistake that was made the choice that was made made and how to make sure that that doesn't happen again so um it's it's kind of a I like to think of J program like a warm blanket like it's warm it's comforting but you know what we got to take that blanket away and we need you to feel warm and fuzzy at your own campus so that's how we approach it in our program this this um I have a wonderful staff member name Nicole and um she also so we both have a good sense of positivity and approaching these students with a little bit of care and understanding the future of Genesis will be

Genesis on campus especially the elementary schools we would like to see it there uh social emotional support um so hopefully it'll be something that'll be more understanding in a sense of making students feel safe to learn because if a student doesn't feel safe to learn then um we can teach them the most wonderful teacher can present the most wonderful lesson but if they are not emotionally acceptable to that lesson then it's just a waste of their time uh restored conversations with all attendees and absent students so we did have some students that did not show up to the Genesis Program and um I would like to have something in place to make sure that they still get a shortened version of it or some way to benefit just because their name came into our system

benefits of relationship building psychological safety as I was saying if a student does not feel safe enough to learn then it's impossible for them to gain um encourage School climate so when they leave the Genesis Program for them to be a positive member of their school culture and to create a culture of caring so they know that adults are here to support them to make sure that they are able to learn they don't have to be afraid to take those chances and shareing conversations and talking to us about things that may make it difficult for them to learn any questions how long are kids at Genesis so the um that I am getting is about 3 days they can be there up to 10 days depending on the severity of the situation or if we

need them them to have a place where they can be around adults and peers while the campus figures out what they need to do depending on the situation any other questions Mr bur I have a comment not a question for you but you talked about the followup interviews yes um you know we're talking to our students and talking to issues with Bing and everything else that is one of the biggest pieces that they are asking for so kudos for wanting to implement that and getting us beyond that absolutely um that's huge it it was a little junting when I spoke with one student and I always like to ask the students well what happened tell me in your own words and they start going through all of their their emotions of the situation and I

asked them um well do is there an adult on your campus that that you trust they say no so so um I think the Genesis Program can can fill that void I think we are all working hard for these children and I am in an fortunate position to give them something that maybe it's just hard to catch you know what I mean so sometimes I I feel like every Behavior has a reason there's a reason why they made that choice and our program allows for us to kind of peel back those layers and see you know I'll add um CH another great report tonight just like Heidi's but uh I know the building leaders really appreciate first restore that was implemented earlier and then Genesis this year uh because sometimes kids just need a reset

before they go back into the setting and Genesis is providing that so thank you thank you um I do have a couple more sites to just update you on we have T15 um and legislation changed so now they go up to age 22 so next year will be our first at the end of this year will be our first group that will stay an additional year as well as grab the next group coming in so that does create an opportunity for the program to grow and for kids to hang out with us for one more year to get one more year under their belt and get some more job opportunities and practice um so it is expanding so we're running out of space so you guys are familiar with that dilemma we're under um but

great opportunity to hang on to those kidss another year and get them ready for the job market we also have Saints Academy and Saints online these are not new programs um but I just thought I'd throw some numbers at you uh Saints Academy is grades 9 through 12 again that's uh where we are able to access a program for high school restore kids um we have currently 121 students attending Saints Academy and that's the whole population I didn't pull out um any other specific data other than we have nine students currently on an i AP and as of today three more are in the hopper to possibly move over so that the numbers are constantly fluctuating there Saints online we have 19 students um being serviced with uh on an IAP we have one teacher

that is K12 servicing all 19 students so um that's that's a big lift we'll be monitoring that quite closely and evaluating that we have um we're really trying to uh have conversations with the parents before they say oh let's move online to be successful you really need four to five hours online every day it's really self- motivated self-driven and that's not a perfect fit for all students so we're really trying to have those honest conversations before just switching to online because you really have to be self-motivated to be successful we want that for our students all right Crossroads um one note I put on here is that this this is constantly changing and which is out of our control in that it's a treatment facility it's a mental and chemical health treatment facility where other

people enroll them you will not find Crossroads or Crossroads East as an availability for parents to enroll because they can this is we provide the educational component to the um the treatment facility currently um Crossroads that's being housed at barnun is ages 10 to 18 so we have teachers out there covering all the way from age 10 all the way up to 18 and enrollment has dropped as low as six but has the potential to get up to 32 it depends on the program and um what Bar None is using the different programs for they have an emergency placement program which the state says if your emergency placements you can still access your home school so there's shuttle buses coming constantly to that unit to pick up kids to bring them during the day back

to their home school wherever that may be if they are in the other facility which is called omon that is assigned to our Crossroads site so if they're in Oma they come to our Crossroads so that's where you'll get some of the numbers changing um and I don't foresee the emergency placement site to change how they do business and they will always in my mind will always have the opportunity to go back to their home home site our newest edition um is Crossroads East this is the facility that just opened up we are getting kind of excited and anxious and everything all at the same time as of Wednesday they will have their first official students on site and um December 4th they Monday they will be rolling out with students in the classes I've

had a lot of questions on how are you providing Staffing for this when we can't even fill our own ranks um it is required mde is required that you have to have an administrator on site so we were able um to get get that filled very blessed with Bridget to take that position we do have a special ed teacher on site to provide all the special ed minutes that on IEPs that come in we have a date PE teacher that will come in one hour a day and provide either date or Jed ad PE for the students core classes this is where we get super tricky so the core classes are being um provided on the online platform form that our Saints online uses as well as our Crossroads baram the crossroads Barnum staff will

be providing the Core Curriculum um just and we've been meeting with them a couple times and just pretty excited on um some of the ideas they had on how to make that happen so we'll roll that out starting Monday where they will be the teacher of record and set virtual meetings or go over one day a week and meet with the students um at the East Campus um we are projected to grow by the end of this year to 17 by the end of next year they should be at full capacity and they're depending on the population 34 to 36 so as the student population grows we will also need to grow our um teaching population so right now the thought process is to post for an elective teacher hoping for like a music or

an art to come in and the goal is to post in December and get a December grad that's the strategy we're using um just to have enough licensed staff to keep it going until we need to add another one lots of information for you and double dose ofis SL so we do have that's a lot 13 different sites of information any questions how old are the kids at Crossroads East again great question that's that changed they are um 12 to 17 it's but through 17 so 12 to 18 and then are they starting with the older kids first I can't remember they are starting um it does they aren't selecting um a grade but they are all female which is going to be new for us okay to have all female so we're starting with

three on Monday and then they'll grow about one a weekish after that are these all St Francis students coming in none are St Francis at this time from other I mean like for Life District okay could be all over the state state they are taking um um what they what Nexus had shared was that there's so many many girls that are just laying in Cuts all over emergency rooms and hallways everything and they're taking the most dire situations first um to try to get them out of their sitting like in police stations and hallways just so there's eyes on them at all times and so those are the students we will be getting first it could be from other states too but they'll by and large be for Minnesota yes if I recall this is

there one other Luther is this the only one now no there's several other ones I know there's not many in the state not many and uh Nexus has four and we're the fifth of these programs but some of the ele the smaller ones they have a site specific towards them anybody under 10 to 12 so we will be the older female setting and if I could add one thing about funding uh what what happens is that you know there are costs that are spent obviously on the program but then they are build out to the students resident districts so for example if all the kids are from Minneapolis then Minneapolis public schools would pay those costs essentially you know the net costs so our our financial burden would be you know the number of St

Francis kids that will end up and either Crossroads or Crossroads East because eventually we'll have somebody in one of those programs but we'll pay a proportionate share of those costs so it's really not going to be a financial burden to the district uh the biggest impact I think would be personel because we are obligated to find those people and you know we have a staffing shortage so we have to make tough decisions on where people are placed so there may be some exceptions to what I just said but that that's in general uh the issue and I got to command Deb for her work we were all really concerned when the proposal came our way I mean I lost sleep I'm sure Deb lost weeks of sleep uh because we're really worried about the finances

and the Staffing but I think that model is a really smart model because it serves the kids well it's financially you know appropriate for other districts and it's going to minimize how many staff members we dedicate to the program how long does it take to get the fund in from the other districts so um it is about uh 12 to 16 months turn room so so the first the first waiting period is going to be longer but then it will be every year after that but yeah but we're still talking a lot of money that we have to put forward that's why it's the important of the pump melons is because we're talking how many millions that we'll have to front and then we have to wait to get paid on yeah it's in the

millions right no I don't think so because it'd be the Staffing cost there essentially uh plus there's some rent costs that we're paying to to Nexus so we can use their facility instead um you know we could certainly have Brandon and and Ron run a a report as far as what we expect the initial cost to be for that Contex for the crossroads the original Crossroads site for the regular red portion last year was just over 700,000 for the entire program and there's more kids that are served than class at least initially will be served so it should be so it won't be over a million that we'll have to fund your guessing likely not with startup costs and things like that um you know could it could get closer to that but I would

anticipate it's going to be over that yeah and this model I think is more financially efficient than the current Crossroads model so that will help in that regard as well what typically what happens that at the end of the year is when we do the tuition billing and there's two portions there's a regular portion that we build District directly and then mde actually will build them as well tuition bilding for the special ed cost as well for any of those students that have that are on IPS it is good that we're financially set today than we were a number of years ago because a number of years ago this would have put us under the table so just wanted to make that point it's a good reminder Mr comment about the the homite transportation do

we provide that Transportation or their District their District are there any other questions thank you for your presentation this evening thank you next item on the agenda is the first reading for policy $4.99 if you have a chance please read that and if you have any questions we or um M myself the next item on the agenda is the administrative administrative report all right there is a written report uh that um mentions a few things I'll highlight first of all uh uh thanks to um Mo I can't remember her name off hand because now I call her Mo but um we've had visits to our theater arts department um you know to show off our theater program at both the middle school and the high school uh Glenn morous uh olon sorry about that um

and the ppage Center for the Arts recently facilitated a staff development day where people from uh other school districts did visit both of those schools uh and I think that's a testimony to the work of our uh the theater arts department teachers so I want to thank them for that uh did include I'll be it a little bit late because it was just posted this morning um cost comparisons between uh contracted services and employees uh and um so I don't know if there are any questions about that but I I did attach a an additional document to the the board packet and we don't have to discuss it today but if you have any questions certainly feel free to reach out to us uh over the next couple weeks and you know if you have

something that we need to discuss we'll add that to the next agenda uh indoor graduation uh Doug Austin did notify us that uh the plan is to conduct graduation indoors uh for this uh coming spring and we you know plan to do that every year after uh we discuss that uh pretty intensely um uh last year and so that's the plan moving forward uh there was also a question about policy 502 in terms of you know do we need to change that policy because we are planning to have those Vape detection wands and both Brandon and I reviewed it and concluded that uh changes were not needed uh I will add two more items to the report uh first of all uh thanks to Ron and his team uh we are very close to submitting

the audit information to the state for last year uh we do it every year by November 30th but I know it was a significant um significant thing to do this year because of the transition and so um I got to applaud uh Ron and ciso for their work uh getting that ready uh we haven't submitted it yet there could be some last changes and so you know we'll be sharing more information about the audit over the next couple of months but I want to let let you know that I feel really good now that that I will be submitted so we'll share more information later and then I got to have a couple of shout outs to people at East bethl I was able to go there several times over the last two weeks and

I was blown away by it you know um Kibby and her staff just do a great job U so I was in the center based program that Deb mentioned earlier today and we're short two or three staff which makes it really challenging uh there have been uh numerous first reports of injuries uh coming from that area um and so you know we have obvious concerns because we're short of staff and uh but the staff members that are there are just exceptionally good and so it was I don't want to say it was fun being there but I was really impressed with what I saw and uh I thought I could help but you know really was more moral support and then I just learned a lot you know about the program but I I I'm

really impressed um uh with all the staff members there and then I made the wisest decision of my life I went to the food service at East bethl and uh I'm sure this is true for all the food service you know departments in the district but I love the food and so I'm trying to go there all the time now because it's a great deal and uh the food is really good but it's really fun um not only see the kids interacting with each other really politely and I think it's a much better behavioral situation than it was last year I know kib has done some things to improve that um but also you know how the kids interact with food service staff I mean one was calling a food service worker mom you know

and they're hugging the Food Service people and they're it just great interaction so and that's true in other places too um you know the center based programs as well as food service but I just wanted to not that that's all I have unless there are some questions are there any questions seeing none thank you for your report we will move on to our action items the first item on the agenda is approval of sixth grade wrestling particip participation um recommendation is there a motion to um is there a motion on this item so so move by Mr sh is there a second second by Mr discussion is there any discussion tell I'm guessing things all couple weeks ago I had heard I had concerns because I had some phone calls that there were concerns from

the booster it sounds like um everyone's on the same page now where before I had concerns that everyone wasn't on the same yeah I can if we could also invite Mr Mar to come up uh because he might be able to also answer and I'm not trying to squash your response but I'm fine with whoever answering it but I do want to hear it from someone to make sure that everyone is on the same page or on similar Pages or yes we are well after um some discussion yes we the the activities advisory committee has come to consensus to um ask the board to approve sixth grade to to be able to compete in matches Mr sh not conference yeah non-conference it's the conference bylaw states that they cannot compete in conference matches only non-conference

matches so what does that does that mean that who to chips them who takes them to the non-conference meets of the non-conference the District would be responsible I guess if it's a if we schedule it yeah any other questions Mr yeah would be just like any other support when you go play somebody outside of your conference District buses their kids there so and right now they're allowed to practice so this is just adding that they compete against teams that are are events outside of the conference and for clarification this is the same schedule it's not an additional schedule for sixth grade it's the same schedule we're going to the same that the Mr the the question about the booster it's not a booster club it's the Gladiator wrestling program and there was some confusion that

it was in place of it is not as just an extra opportunity for sixth graders within the community so they both have the option to participate in one is a district sponsor one as a program are there other questions yeah I want to one so is this the first athletic with wrestling that it's sixth grade at a middle school offro of a sport because generally speaking I think everything 7 through 12th am I so we offer right now um through the district volleyball wrestling and then boys and girls track for that that run through the district the other programs are Community Based um and then they are allowed sixth graders are allowed to practice um in those Sports as well as long as well as tennis but tennis competes 7 through 12 so they don't

have a middle school standable same as cross country is this a is there a move now to have other sports or is it only going to be wrestling or I'm just wondering what Avenue this is opening up that I'm always looking at the can of worms down in you know a year or two I'm wondering if there'll be a can of worms and what that can of worms will be because there's lots of sports in this District sh yeah I think the ones you mentioned they're already practicing with these other Middle School team the seventh and eighth graders so volleyball tennis the ones you mentioned so it's not really adding anything those kids can already participate I get that but we have lots of other sports is M right there's basketball hockey gymnastics football that

we offer Middle School sports my question is okay we're doing this today for wrestling because the group is pressuring I'll be honest they're pressuring this you know there there's been pressure to have this happen What spring weeks when other I mean this is the first one there'll be others I'm just wondering I'm just trying to look down the road so that we're not saying W I guess I didn't think of this issue down three years from now because I I said there's lots of sports in this in this District not just wrestling great and was brought up Ear preach extracurricular activities are dra help kids academically so I think more we can bring I mean if we can bring more Sports and More I Just Sports but activities to these middle school kids because there's

not a lot at the sixth grade level for them participa in so well I I'll disagree there because they all are part of the booster program to run through Community app if you're playing basketball you have lots of opportunity through to play cuz my kids played the traveling programs and I'm fine with that I'm just the word do we list for wrestling does this open up something for something else if I hear it doesn't that's fine but I have concerns that we will be concerned about this down in the RO is so that that was discussed and amongst the the advisory committee and through our discussions with the Middle School um yeah we want to we want to look at increasing our our Middle School offerings and thought this might be a good opportunity to

kind of dip our toes in the water to see okay what what what is this like can we handle this and this kind of isolated incidence and then the plan is to work and look at how this grows from to answer your questions right like because all those things were discuss like if this then what right um and that that was the hesitation of the group at at first but through through discussion and with Middle School admin Heidi and her team um they felt comfortable kind of taking on with the assumption that we are going to continue to look at how we grow our Middle School offerings to our sixth graders Mr just kind of go back there is opportuni outside the district district do cheaper Association we can't do things as cheap as the

district so there's a big price oh I yes I agree that and and and a piggyback off of that to offer opportunities to kids that maybe don't have the ability to have to play the travel Sports and those kinds of things but yeah I mean there's definitely some potential for cost down the road for the district and and those were the the questions that were having us hesitate a little bit because go ahead Mr B yeah so the the the piece about other activities as well so it's not just Athletics we have activities that are offered to sixth graders currently and again it's all district um sponsored events so not clubs not community community head is District but it's not the the club programs that we talked about it's the specific to the district on

and it's it's beyond just the Athletics and I I agree because I think we changed our model of how we educate our children years ago most of them are now K through 5 6 through 8 and 9 through 12 that's not every school in the district but a large amount of school districts follow that model but we never looked at the the other spectrum of activ activities whether it be Athletics or other things as well so Miss K yeah so um we did meet talk about this a lot and I I think your point is taken and I hear you I also think that we have some opportunities and maybe even some obligations to uh bring some more after school activities to our kids 6 through eight and so um well we're we're kind of

thinking about how we're we're going to roll that out asking the kids and making sure I am big sport person love sports also I'd like to see other activities for for our kids um if you ask them some of the things they want um they want some you know technology gaming things like that and so getting some information from them that they want so that we can get those maybe some of those activities going so I I hear what you're saying Amy and we talked about that um I think this is a situation where they're already practicing and the numbers are at the point where they don't have to order an extra bus for them or do any of those things so they can go they're there watching them other other Conference teams have um

sixth graders doing it and it was just it it just was kind of a like you said a way to kind of put our toes in the water and you're right the Middle School model it's on a junior highing it's the middle school model it's gr 6 through eight so and they want to be involved they'll come up to me last week I had them come up to me Mrs crley we really want to have a weight and fitness program here at the middle school and I said okay I'll add it to my list Mrs crit really want to go the dragon's group at our at our school okay I'll add it to the list so they have lots of ideas and they're excited about it but I do hear what you're saying I want

trust me I want our kids to be able to have access to everything but I also have sat here long enough to know what we've cut Y and you'll never see a room as full as when you're talking Athletics yeah Dave's sitting back there Dave's been here in this room if you start talking cutting Athletics they they show up and you can't park within a couple miles of this building yeah so I'm I want our kids to have the opportunities but who gets that opportunity now is it just certain groups or how do we open this up I I think it's our responsibility as administrators and leaders in this build in this District to make sure that we're that is that is a big passion right is making sure that we're opening things up for

opportunities for example you know maybe there's an activity that is a club that's expensive and kids can't travel and do those things that we could bring some of those things back into our building we do understand it's going to cost money or we have to come up with a plan and that so that do that help is that we you know we we do get that big picture um that these are all of our kids and we need to leave it all their wants and needs and with that being said we realize that we can't do everything at once and so we're going have to be very careful about next apps I want opportunities but I also know that oh you open the faucet the water drips and pretty soon it gets bigger and bigger

and there's and we talked about that is kind of like a roll you know kind of a rolling in plan we're not there yet because the discussion has just started but I think we need to sit down and what what makes sense what does that look like um you know we do like I said we have a few programs right now where it's not we're not adding a program it's just allowing those those a to be able to go and compete which they haven't been able to in the past and my understanding is they were going along anyways and watching and other sixth graders were getting able to do that well to me that wasn't was makes sense West I really appreciate all the comments and everything you mentioned and talked about it needed to

be talked about what's your comfort level on the whole thing I mean you said you had a lot of meetings this is going through you me reservations well I I have the same reservations that that she does and that's why I think it took a while to get there um on the on the surface it was like I don't know kind of like you said the the floodgates open and how do we handle that um through discussion and brainstorming and things I think we have a better idea of a plan but we don't have a plan yet if that makes sense from from a broad perspective I think we have an idea of like okay we can we're not adding when we look at volleyball and wrestling and track we're not adding anything from the

standpoint of other than allowing those kids to compeat um in non-conference activities um so I think I think that's we're headed in the right direction in my opinion um I don't think we're anywhere near there yet but but that being said that's why we brought the Middle School in because it's really going to fall on their shoulders and Cen the Chance's shoulders to administer all of this as the as as a it's a middle school program are there any more comments seeing them all in favor of the motion to approve this say I all oppos same side motion passes unanimous thank you welc welc thank you next item on the agenda is approval of purchase of property Chris linquist if you could join us up here or unless you want to answer from there I'm

good right here and then Deb Parson is also here obviously because it would be purchased for special education purposes um we met close session I don't know when feels like forever year ago now um and agreed to try to the purchase of the Oakland property cross from the hardware store it's on Bridge Street but the legal address is off of Butterfield 22678 or something like that um so what's before you tonight is a resolution to go ahead with the purchase agreement and put in an offer contingent on a handful of different stipulations one being that it can go through a resoning process I should I should I should retract that it's not a reson it's an amendment to the zoning because they're not going to just not Zone it business and Zone it educational which

is also falls into residential it doesn't fall within their City plan that they've done so it's an amendment to the zoning not a re zoning so please let me make that clear um so that's one contingency Con on an inspection was a second one and um I'm tired I forget the third one was uh no because we we anticipated having to be sprinklered there was another one um but I I'll think of it parking lot maybe yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah U thank you there is a an adjacent lot that's part of the property on the other side of a former alley it's not even used as an alley anymore and depending on if the city um based on our occupancy rates would require us to have additional parking space we would incur significant cost

and so it's dependent on also contingent on that so I think what you have before you tonight is M for us to submit a purchase or an offer on the property um contingent on those three things we still face an uphill battle and obtaining the property even if the board authorizes that action tonight because it doesn't fit within there's three things doesn't fit within the city strategic plan um economic development plan and some other plan so I've already submitted one letter to the Planning and Zoning commission and Authority um they've got additional questions we have to respond by next next Monday December 4th and then we're on the books for fighting and Zoning at a city meeting on December 20th so it's an uphill battle there's no guarantees that this will go through uh but

it's our best shot again in providing a location for the T15 program that de talked about earlier tonight um that is now open to age 22 so questions that I can answer for the was it res to years ago back to has it been three years so that's a really interesting question and um I'm going to provide you just a historical blip because I can't guarantee that I that I can answer your question poly or fact um in some research that we we did uh we dug up former city administrator of St Francis actually reached out to no County uh and wrote a letter and I got a copy of that letter um stating that that was never zoned for uh ation purposes it was always Zed for business and that when Oakland bought it

the Consortium bought it they didn't have proper Authority the Consortium I won't say we because we were just one of three didn't have the proper authority to run Educational Services there as it was zoned for business at the time and so the former city administrator was appealing to the county for us to actually pay taxes or the Consortium to pay taxes because we wer operating under the current Zone I don't think anything happened with that Miss Kelly um but I I am aware of that history and I don't know how that will impact us as we venture on this process I spoke with superintend Anderson that prior the board meeting tonight when Oakland was right out of there wasn't zoned at one point what I can say is at one point it wasn't zoned as

an educational I don't know if it ever flipped into an educational and then I don't know if it flipped back to buiness yeah it's currently Z as business so I don't have a complete answer question I just know there's a history interesting history very interesting history I also know that the Holland owned that property yeah one there was a stucko house that they picked up and moved yeah and they sold it to openland they sold it to and fun things you learn if I could just add that we uh gained that information from the data request that we submitted so the city didn't respond to a data request uh Chris looked through it I glanced through it and that was the one issue that really surfaced that we wanted to share with the with the

are there any other questions so so basically we'll find out we'll have to find out if the city of said Francis has any interest in designating that educational yeah they won't reone it they'll just um like allow conditional use yeah I don't remember the exact phrase It's not a conditional use permanent but it's like an A okay um it doesn't like I said it doesn't fit within their master plan for the for the development to Bridge Street right so they really want to see business there um working with de and superintendent Anderson right now on you know what are some opportunities for our kids there are there jobs job placement that our kids could do we currently run T15 coffee shop over over at loing Center is that could we put a store for could

we offer um a coffee shop for P or foot traffic or vular traffic on Bridge Street what would that do to our educational programing what changes do we have to make to the facility to do that you know those types of things those out of the box thinking things which really fits with the philosophy and the model of T15 here as again as opposed to I think we previously discussed the the philosophy of model which they make widgets they make things and they put the kids to work and kind of assembly line fashion we're really trying to teach personal living skills and job skills so it's a really different model and this might fit really really well I won't guarantee that we can pull it off I won't guarantee that we're going to do it

but we're examining those options to you know maybe better partner with businesses on Bridge Street in the city of St fris are there any other questions well I anybody else have a question so how long will it take for us to hear from Planning and Zoning because if this if this falls through let's hope it doesn't but if it does we need to figure something out because we have to have it figured out by next fall we have a plan B right now okay um to answer your first question uh the planning zone process can take up to 120 days okay which is why we're pushing hard to start the process so if the answer is no then the answer is no and we'll we'll move on to plan B and then we'll hopefully develop

some more plan a along the way and then keep plan in back because Plan B is not a great alternative for our kids there any other questions see none so um is there a motion to approve the of the property by Mr second second second by Mr sh any discussion see no discussion all in favor say all All Pause same sign motion carries unanimously the next item on the agenda is approval of policy 414 Mr Nelson um the recommendation is to approve the the policy as presented and the board has seen this policy twice uh the question was asked previously in regards to definition for Mal treatment we brought that back um asked for information about what a definition could look like because this encompasses many aspects of um abuse the definition is in statute

and it has eight items and some of those items link to other statutes that have um links it's it's really hard to get it into a policy I think that's maybe the reason MSB didn't so although um the the question and the request to have it in the policy makes a lot of sense there is is a real good way to do that BR it to policy um policy's recommended recommending that we approve it as is without the definition thank you is there a motion to approve policy 414 so by Mr sh is there second second second by m any discussion see no no discussion all in favor signif by by saying I all oppose same sign um motion passes unanimously next item is upcoming meetings andary topics if you have any changes to those

or have any suggestions please reach out to the superintendent or topics yes for the January 8 2024 we don't need the new number of office or the election School Board correct yeah I'll probably leave it on there for now just because um I use it as a rolling agenda from you know every month but yeah yeah we thankfully don't figure something yeah next item on the agenda is School Board member reports we'll start with Mr had one uh advisory committee meeting on the 21st of November insurance we reviewed of our claim data it's in line with the historical averages so everything is trending the way that we expected and we've got another meeting coming up to to look at what our numbers will look like for the renewal that will be coming home so that's

all of that thank you um just want to mention that the city of vro is having their fourth annual Christmas tree lighting event um at that at O City Hall food trucks we had two food trucks um now that's waffles and a taco truck starting at 5:30 um the actual event starts at 6:30 their maval choir will be there um performing starting around 7:15 have campfires or bonfires fire truck Santa um it's a really good time so anybody who's looking for something to do and please pray that the weather holds out a little better CU last year it was really cold um but feel free to join us what day is it again uh this Friday the first food trucks at 5:30 the actual event starts at 6:30 thank you Mr shra went to the

m gos performance last weekend and kids are just amazing do the whole basically design and write the whole play it's just fun to see them interact there a couple intermissions and they interact with the audience just fun time so if you haven't been before you gota wait another year but um basketball we got our first girls basketball game home tomorrow night so hope to see you all there and then this weekend Friday Saturday I got the msba delegate assembly so I'll try to report back on that the next meeting thank you Mr sh Chris the only thing I had was attending the activities um committee meeting which we already addressed here tonight so we will take a 5 minute recess before closing the meeting so we'll recess at 804 and come back at 809 close
