Thanks for all of you that have been here. Please stand for the pledge. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Are there any public comments? No, sir. Moving on. Shall we accept a motion for consent agenda? I make a motion we approve the consent agenda as presented. >> Second. We have a motion and a second to approve the consent agenda as presented. Any discussion? Seeing none, all in favor say I. >> I. All opposed? Passes. All righty, as always, we're going to let you go first. So, in case you want to go home, you can. Although, tonight I've got a what's next for you. What are you looking for? Oh, okay.
I think Tony needs to buy some new microphones. Tony's been telling us he's going to buy new microphones for like 2 years. I've been waiting patiently and that's not something I'm really good at. Well, the countdown for the seniors is down to 24 days left, which is pretty exciting. Um, I will say DECA state is this weekend, so I'll be participating in that, but we do have a bunch of students going to DECA state, which is pretty exciting. Um, the weekend after that is prom, which is pretty cool, too. Um, I'm really excited for it. And then spring break starts, so again, everyone's really excited about that. And then after that, only seniors only have 3 weeks, so it's crazy to believe, hard to believe, but we're all ready and prepared to go on to
the next steps. Very cool. Do you want us to take care of that 3 weeks or do you want us to add a couple? I I think it's okay. Okay. >> do appreciate it. Just trying to help. And I promised that I would comment that uh her and a group of her choir friends sang their hearts out on Friday and were amazing at the Misha choir contest at RePHAc, so Thank you. >> it was fun to watch and a lot of schools were there. And Belton not only sang very well, they looked well and they looked classically dressed. So, we we just really rocked it. I promised her I would give that shout-out tonight. Thank you so much. Appreciate it. Very cool. I When I get to the meeting that we just attended, we'll I'll
get your suggestions. Cuz I haven't talked to Dr. Underwood about it, either. All right. Report of the superintendent, sir. 2025-2026 calendar amendment. Should that work? No, this is Dr. Underwood. It's just testing dates. Okay. Again, I think Tony needs a mic. I didn't do that on purpose. So, the high school would like to move their big test day from April 7th to April 21st. That was listed on the calendar as April 7th first, so we would like just to move it. So, the administration asked the board to approve the move of the big test day from April 7th to April 21st. Motion to approve the 2025-2026 calendar amendment as presented. Second. We have a motion and a second to approve the 2025-2026 calendar as amended. Any discussion? Roll call the Seeing that, all in favor
say aye. Aye. All opposed. Passes. Career ladder. Yes, in front of you you have the career ladder plan proposal for 2026-2027. It's It's virtually the same with some some dates adjusted. We did add this year that 40% of the time that they they do and spend with career ladder be in contact with students. So, that is a new piece that we're excited about. We know that contact with student really students makes a difference. Um the career ladder started very small, maybe 12 applicants several years back and and this year we had 70. So, this is a great way for us to reward teachers for some really great work that they do with kids um and families. Um it allows them to do some professional development and share with teachers. So, it just really incentivizes them
to to do some continue to do the great work and we can compensate them for that. So, really excited to offer that again this year. We look to open those applications March 26th. So, um staff can be on the lookout for that and excited to see the the great things they come up with. So, the administration asked the board to approve the career ladder plan for 2026-2027 as presented. Motion to approve the career ladder plan for 2026-2027 as presented. Second. We have a motion and a second to approve the district career ladder plan 2026-2027. Any discussion? What is the percentage of the of the amount of teachers we have in this? So, last year we had or this year we have 70 around 70 teachers taking advantage of of that. Um initially when they did
it the first year there was maybe 12. So, it's gained traction and and people are you know, figuring out that they've can be rewarded for some of the great things they do. So, we encourage them to apply. Yeah. Thank you. My assumption is you're putting this into the budget. You guys are just >> That is correct. If you guys had just sit together, this is like like Yeah. Okay. All righty, any other discussion? Is this still supported by DESE? Mhm. Okay. Yes, we we contribute a portion of that, but they contribute to a portion of it as >> that's what I wanted to point out. It's not fully funded by the district now. 60% by DESE, 40% by the district. Yeah. Dr. Underwood, anything from you on this? No, I think it's a great opportunity
to compensate our staff additional funds and provide more for our students. Win-win. All righty. Seeing no other discussion, all in favor say I. I. All opposed? Passions. 26 budget update. Yes, we're going to talk a little bit about the budget as a reminder to the board. Our last uh update was in December for our budget amendments. Uh showed a unrestricted bond or fund balance of 29 uh 0.21% at that time. And so, we do have some property tax uh measures out there. Typically by January, the Department of Education gives us information in regards for the next year for budgeting. Uh obviously we have a lot of limbo out there right now with property tax bills. Uh Michelle and and his team has done some work on Senate Bill 3. Uh that cost us if that
would have passed would be a little over 3.3 million dollars. Uh and so, uh I just want to keep this in front of the board, remind them that we obviously know if we make those type of cuts it's going going a personnel, and we'll be looking at that as a possibility. Uh and On top of the fact that we have another $600,000 that was a reduction as far as financial resources with Senate Bill 190. So, we put 3.3 together and another 600,000. That's a pretty significant chunk in regards to our budget and so we just have to keep that in mind as we're going to try to remain fiscally responsible. We want to stay between that 20 and 30%. As right now, and I know that Mr. Allen and his team are working hard. We're
going to have a draft budget for next year at the April meeting. And then obviously then again in May and then we'll approve this budget in June. So, I don't want any surprises to know that there are some looming issues out there when it comes to our revenues and there may be a reduction and seven to make some tough choices. Okay. Anyone uh any questions? Yeah, nothing to question on that. All right, our bond presentation. I thought I made him mad. Okay, I'll get us started. So, for the past few weeks Dr. Mackey and myself have been visiting several all the schools throughout the district and some community meetings to talk about bond 2026 and so tonight we want to share some information with the board about it. Uh First thing we want to talk
about is the reason why. We have three reasons why we want to uh to move forward with with with bond 2026. Number one, fiscally responsible. Uh as a district, we have been fiscally responsible with our finances, and so we feel pretty good about moving forward with a no tax increase bond. Number two, we listen to our community. The community through our long-range facility plan, as well as through our survey facility survey, showed us that there was a priority for the community. And then number three, our facility needs. We have to continue to replace, maintain, and upgrade our facilities throughout the district in order to stay on track and meet our academic goals uh that the district has uh that we have set as a district. So, we started this work uh this long-range facility planning
with uh Insight Design Studios, who's our architect. They took us through about a 5-week process or well, I should say about five session process that we had. We started by uh establishing a committee that was made up of district staff, parents, students, and community members. Through this work, we began to dream really big. We looked at what it would uh cost to build a new school. There were some people that wanted to uh travel down that road and learn more about that. And so, from there, we really just kind of scaled down and really got down to the business at hand and start prioritizing our needs. And so, from that work, a survey was uh generated uh with our work through uh Excellence K-12. So, they created a survey. That survey uh as they were
creating a survey, they also broke the district's uh boundaries into four quadrants. In those four quadrants, they did uh phone survey, talking to our community. And of those that they surveyed, 92% believed that investing in our facilities uh will benefit our future generations. And then 86% of those that were surveyed said that it is good to keep our facilities up to date because they want to continue to invest in our community. And then 69% of those that were surveyed said that they would support the bond. And this group uses about five points off. And so we felt really pretty good based on these numbers that we received that we would still meet that goal that we need from the voters. And so at this time I'm going to let Dr. Mack share some information with
you about our four areas. That 92% is really telling about how supportive and amazing our community is and all the beautiful facilities we have. So, we are excited to share a little bit about our four buckets. That's probably the easiest way. They are not in any certain order in any kind of ranking. But our first is the elementary flexible learning spaces. If you've been to and we've had lots of board tours. So, you see classrooms that are elementary's. We have at Gladden, we have the desks that are wooden still with the easel or it it opens up from the top and the kids use it. It's it's very vintage. I'm not saying old. It's very vintage and it really doesn't match a lot of what we've got going on what how school looks like, how
we teach. So, we want what we're doing in the classroom to match our space and have the facilities to make sure teaching's easier and that kids can collaborate without opening that desk every time. I don't know how they do it. Can you go to that next space? This also is um kind of in the lines of what we've been talking about for gosh, two years now with possible farm school, possible computer science elementary, maybe even an arts teaching math and reading and writing through the arts. So, this bond would also support that, but I also know that it's something we really want to pursue um anyway. So, we're hoping we know that this will pass, right? And so that we won't have to be um sidelined to say that we can't do all of those
things with making a magnet school for elementary. Or what's next, right? So, the next one up you No, go to two, please. The next one is Yoakum. And as you know, Yoakum we have lots of space and possibilities with Yoakum. We have some amazing programs there. I don't mean to stand in front of you. And we have our ag, we have our construction architecture. In fact, we have more kids that want to be in there, so we're hoping to expand that. We want to We have our robotics, which phenomenal program there. We have a lot of space that we can add HVAC, welding, cosmetology, some of those more hands-on trades for our students. I've been joking, but not really joking, that those you know, could be the next millionaires in our generation because they're all
hands-on and a lot of it isn't AI. You got to have somebody to come in and fix those. So, we're excited to give our kids a leg up in those um trades. Next one would be those two spaces that I talked about earlier are all within the buildings. The next two I'm going to talk about are actual builds. They would be field house like and it would give our students opportunities at the middle school and also at the high school. The middle school we want to continue um looking at ways to engage our kids and one of those is drones. So we would like to start a drone program at our middle school and if you live in Missouri for long enough, you know that you can have weather change in an instant and so
having a bigger space where you're not reliant on the outside and mother nature that you can continue in the program without having any kind of waiting till it's not snowing or lightning and thunder at the same time. So the other space would be at the high school. It'd be another field house. Not yet. And this would be uh an opportunity for uh to house some of our outdoor spring sports as well as um and junior ROTC. So it'd be a larger space but also again it wouldn't determine the weather wouldn't determine we could put we've sought it thought of um the golf simulator for our golf in the spring, uh batting cages, band. There's just so much possibility for our kids at the high school for those activities. Okay. I'm not fast enough for you.
Okay. So the next one is also expanding our uh early childhood. We have over 200 families if not more uh that are on the wait list and gosh, we just want everyone to experience Grace cuz it is such an amazing place um to learn and work. So we would either look at another purchase of a building. Um it it could look a lot of different ways, obviously, but we just need space. We've had those two classrooms that moved from Grace to Kentucky Trail. Um it's been a great experience for both the preschool and the kindergarten teachers and to have that, but we we just don't have any have that for every elementary. So, we just need more space. And then the fourth one is maintenance. So, he doesn't want me to talk about construction or
anything like that. So, Mr. Allison. Thank you. Uh this ties right into Grace as well because there's a lot of facility needs that we want to continue to maintain. You know, if we didn't do anything, if this if this bond doesn't pass, imagine us not being able to do anything for another five, six, seven years to our facilities. So, it's important that we really do hone in on our uh facility and maintenance upgrades. Does anybody know how old our football field is? 16 years old. The life of a uh turf football field is really only about eight years. So, we've we've done a fantastic job of taking care of it and we've doubled our lifespan, but at the same time, we only got maybe one more year before we really have to invest in that.
And and then there's just our plumbing, HVAC that we want to address at uh various schools to continue to keep our staff and students uh safe, warm, cool at the right times so that we can continue to be focused on our academics. And so, the bond length I hope in real life we don't have a water heater next to a to a circuit panel. Uh there's some people >> if there is, I don't want to know. That's that's getting some of those things up to code. Yes. So, we also shared the bond language. And in the because a lot of times people go to vote and they don't always know if their yes means yes or their no means no. And so, we want to make sure everyone got a chance to see the the
bond language here. We talk about acquiring, constructing, renovating, expanding, and improving, furnishing, and equipping schools. The things that we talked about is in the bond language. You'll see RTC Academy uh activities. So, those things are there and we just want to make sure that uh our community had opportunity to see the actual bond language before they step into uh their voting box to cast their vote. And then we kind of finish up our presentation by reminding the community and everyone to vote April 7th. That QR code takes you to our website that uh Rebecca has uh created for us. Lots of good information on the website that will uh continue to kind of educate everyone about the four uh areas of focus that we just got through talking about. So, that's really been the extent
of our presentation that we've been making throughout the community. Anyone have any questions? >> On the survey, um are we comfortable with the percentage of responses we got? Is it in the normal range? The scores are great. Yes, we feel pretty We feel pretty comfortable about it. That's why we're moving forward. Uh you know, they give or take five points. Uh and so, we're still within that range of passing. Okay. Thank you. Actually, I think the last time we used them they they the last two times, Dr. Underwood, you can correct me, but I thought they were within a percent of being correct. >> Yeah. Very close. Yes. So. I would add that Miss Hubbard has a Friends for Education 2026 and so she is working hard on the vote yes campaign. Her goal has
been to get to $5,000. I know that she is very close. Um and so uh I'm going to hit the board members up. If anybody has an opportunity to donate, Central Bank is taking donations uh for that. We'll have some signs I believe by this weekend or first next week. Hopefully people will have some spaces or ideas for our spaces for those signs for vote yes as well. And uh I know we were all at the bus barn today talking to our bus drivers about this and a lot of those individuals live in the district and they were excited to get signs to place to put out in places that they felt were strategic to try to help us in this initiative as well. Thanks for the time. Thank you. Uh will you tell Rebecca
I love uh that amazing work. She does a great job. Yeah. The magazine will be out soon. All righty. Legislative update, sir. Yes. Obviously uh we're halfway through the legislative session. Legislators are on spring break. President Miller, Miss Cummings and myself were able to go over and visit with some of our legislators this last week. I don't know if either uh you want to share that if you're going to do that at the end or or now, but there's really not obviously not a lot of movement going on right now. The Senate has been in somewhat of a bit of turmoil right now. And so that is fighting amongst the parties. It'll be interesting to see where they end up here at the end of this session. Obviously we know that first Friday in May
is very important in regards to budget. And so I believe the house just passed the income tax to do away with income tax and to replace that with sales tax. I think that just made it through. And so it'll be interesting. There's a lot of focus on those areas as far as income tax and property tax. And obviously one or both of those could definitely affect us. I've read something about that that they think the Hancock amendment's going to be in the way of that now. Could be, yeah. With the balanced budget part of the Hancock. I know Hancock was never designed to be that, but that's what it is. Um Hancock puts a cap on what the sales tax can Yeah. So on from my point of view we all went down there I
we we did our very best to talk to legislators. Uh the three of us know that we got to speak to um one of our legislators. Now, the house was in session. Uh so they made it a little more difficult. Uh and our our illustrious senator um I'll just leave it at that. He he does not ever have the time for this district. Uh and so we'll just uh let that settle with everybody that's out there because he doesn't care about this district at all. So Mary. Yeah. And his not caring flows through his entire office. Uh and I'm just going to leave it at that. It was um we had discussions but that was as far as it went. I don't believe that um their listening skills were fine-tuned that day. And I'm done.
>> Yeah. Yeah, there wasn't much that we could do. Um all I can tell you is when that election comes up, pay attention. All righty, that's good for that. New business, MSBA policy IG BE. Yes, we have to change one item uh due to an audit in regards to the specificity of the individual that is um appointed to this position, and so we do actually based on uh time need to do a first and a second reading. And so I believe um that we have a specific name instead of just a generic title that has been put in this policy, and so therefore the administration would ask the board to approve the policy IG BE as presented. Motion to approve. Okay. Motion to approve the first reading of policy IG BE as presented. Second. We
have a motion and a second to approve the first reading of policy IG BE. Any discussion? Seeing none, all in favor say I. I. >> I. All opposed? Passes. Next. >> Motion to approve the second reading of MSBA policy IG BA IG BE. Second. We have a motion and a second to approve the second reading of policy IG BE. Any discussion? Seeing none, all in favor say I. I. All opposed? Passes. Horizontal advancement. Yes, just one this evening. The administration asks the board to approve the horizontal advancement as presented. Motion to approve the horizontal advancement as presented. Second. We have a motion and a second to approve the horizontal advancement as presented. Any discussion? Seeing none, all in favor say I. I. All opposed? Passes. Miscellaneous committee updates. Uh we can start with MSBA. Okay.
Um there's a really good workshop for AI coming up in April. But unfortunately, it's during spring break on Good Friday. But if anybody would be interested, it's in Jefferson City and um attendance is at no cost. Um Teresa, are you going to the March 20th spring fling for board secretaries? Okay. That's in Columbia, right? Okay. And then we have our next lunch and learn on April 11th. And those have been pretty interesting. Uh the last one was just to get us ready for the advocacy day, but uh there'll be other topics uh moving forward. And then I mention this every month. We have the summer summit um uh at uh Margaritaville Margaritaville on June 14th through the 16th. And that's where we will um hopefully get recognized for our team governance award again because Mrs.
Stocking has got all of our paperwork turned in and I think we're good to go. So um Yeah, so that's a good sign. Um so that's uh an advocacy day. Uh we heard some good stuff at at uh the morning meeting and and um about it's going to be challenging this year, but more challenging next year. So and I think that's been the theme for the last few years. So um anyway, that's it for MSBA. Perfect. All right. Thank you. Belton Cares. Belton Cares, uh just going to mention a couple of top items here. Uh April 29th is fentanyl awareness day. And we're looking for chaperones for after prom. That's a biggie. Okay. Heads up today, we have 11. Okay. Perfect. Belton Educational Foundation. She's not here. Dr. Underwood, anything? I I know we have
the 5K coming up in April. And trying to think. That's the only thing that's popping up in my head. Must Mr. Allen, do you have anything else? The 5K is their next fundraiser. We also have the Pirate Dash that we talked about. Uh we did get a chance to present to the bond issue to the foundation as well. They shared a little bit about mini grants that they've been passing out. Um I am looking to see. They are also working on some branding. They want to uh kind of rebrand their name and their logo. So, we talked a little bit about that as well. So, those are really some of the main things that we focused on with the foundation. Okay. Perfect. City of Belton. Mr. Daniels, anything? Nothing. All righty. Moving on from that.
Oh, yes, sir. You matter Belton on Friday for our bracelets. We're passing out bracelets Friday at the middle school. Okay. And the high school. Perfect. All righty. Dr. Underwood, school board recognition. That is me, actually. Ooh. That's you? It's me. Congratulations. >> I know. Someone gave me a mic, and I get to talk about how amazing we have this incredible board. Individually, you guys are all um all about kids, and collectively, you can move mountains. So, we are so grateful for each and every one of you. I would do a song, a poem, interpretive dance, but I can't do any of these, but I can read a proclamation. If you allow me, and I will. >> This is from the governor. Whereas a system of quality public education is essential to the future of our
state and nation, and whereas the people of Missouri have a long tradition of support for public education and their local school districts, and whereas local school boards are the ultimate expression of the unique American institution of representative governments of public school districts, and whereas local and school boards, acting on behalf of and in close connection with the people of their communities, chart the course uh excuse me, chart the direction of education in their communities, and whereas local school boards serve as the key community advocates for children, youth, and public school. Now, therefore, I, Mike Kehoe, governor of the state of Missouri, do here procl- proclaim March 2026 to be School Board Recognition Month. We could not do this work without you, and we are so blessed to have you. Thank you. I think all of
us uh are here for the right reason, and uh uh we all work pretty hard for you guys. So, um and it from my point of view, um our staff is the best, and you make our lives a little easier. Anyone else? I agree with that whole-heartedly. I was hoping for a little dance with Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But I understand. Wow. And I echo Karen and Jerry. Okay. All righty. So, uh cos the conference recap there were some of us went down to cos but uh for this year. Uh that's the consortium of state school boards association. Um so, we'll do a recap of what we did there. We'll start with you, Mr. Armelio. Okay. Uh attended several sessions on various subjects. Couple of them what it takes to work well with the school board.
I think we we do that here pretty good. Leadership through listening, empowering students to shape school culture. I thought that was very interesting. Basically, talked about focus groups from uh uh students. And we we do that here. We have uh Dr. Underwood has meetings and middle school meetings also. Uh another session was why school boards matter. And uh I just wanted to verify what I thought. And I was pretty close. Cuz we do matter. And then uh strengthening board engagement through school visits, which we do uh regularly every year. And uh I think it uh In my opinion, it helps our teachers understand that we're there. We're We're We want to work with them. We want to help them every way we can. Mr. Daniels. So, again, I went to several of them, but three
of them I want to mention. One was I'd mentioned the Kentucky school district with the nickel tax. But he he did a little tiny bit on furniture. And this is what he said about furniture. What is the population that it'll serve? The needs of that population, the purpose of the room, and his last part was colors to be used. So, I thought that was kind of interesting on how our furniture should work in each school. So, um I did a class on AI. Yeah. It was more about the negative parts of AI, and I knew about deep fakes, which just is disturbing in its own right, but the part I didn't know about or was naive to was how kids use AI as a conversation piece, and a serious conversation piece, that they actually have
serious conversations with AI, and that it was just something that didn't it was just different listening to that. And the last one I went to was on um If schools don't If schools don't tell our story, who will? And the little things like people trust stories more than statistics. The human brain loves stories. Um and the one thing he pointed out several times was communicate communicate to your community, and the one thing he kept saying, "Do a magazine. Do a magazine." Several times, and guess what we're doing? We're doing a magazine. So, I thought that was kind of cool. Norm? Uh tend several of unfortunately, I had to skip out a day early due to weather and my flight's getting canceled. So, uh I got two that are I'd not prepared to talk about tonight,
but I will next meeting. Uh but the one that kind of made me do a lot of thinking was um It was a I don't remember the name of it, but it it was how do you how do you political parties work together? And uh the exercise we did was there was five at my table. And each one of us had a different political and they made up this state. And then they made up these political parties. And the goal was you had six things and there one of them was like a man 1.5 billion for teacher salary increases. 700 million for uh mental health, uh school vouchers. uh technology. And there was six of them. And this group had to agree on three of them. And obviously they were polar opposites. So so the
one I had obviously it was for me to support vouchers. And it was it was kind of hard knowing how my belief on that how to to uh come up with a plan for me to support vouchers and try to present this to this brother four. And then we had to agree on three of them. So So it made you think. It it really made you sit back and think. Not about the subject but but how how we can try to work together. But knowing that there's a group that don't want to work together. So So that was kind of different and difficult. So but like I said I'll bring the other two back next meeting. Okay. Dr. Underwood. Yes. Uh I listened to a presentation on Florida vouchers which I thought was interesting is
Missouri is heading down that uh pathway. And then I actually uh listened to a company that actually advertises and promotes schools in open enrollment states. And so I thought that was pretty unique. I listened to another one on AI efficiency for administration as well. And uh those are probably the three main ones uh to take away. And then of course I actually got to visit with some vendors about some different options and opportunities for our kids. I did get an email today from Adam about a possible grant to look at a second table. So, spending time down there does matter as well. Well, that'll be good if we can get a grant. That would be great. It was good to have a conversation with that gentleman that day. All righty, radar. I also attended a
couple of sessions on AI. Um but the one that we attended to, Mr. Larkin and I, and I'll let him speak about it, but it basically was about online predators and um you know, our kids being vulnerable vulnerable to um people hacking into their gaming systems and their phones and you know, luring them and doing horrible things. So, I'll let him speak about it, but it was very eye-opening and I think that we need to do some more education for our staff and students on things like that. Okay, good. Well, that just leaves the old dog. Um I will tell you I took a a little bit of a different approach this year. Um I did one on mental health, which I thought was a very have a plan for in the future. So, it's
a good plan and I enjoyed that class. Uh >> uh student representative wanted to see if we are doing it the way other people are. Um and two to see if there's something that we can do better. And one of the things that they brought to um me and there's another district in Missouri that uh is doing it that way. We've tried different numbers in the past. We've tried different things. Um but I kind of like that they get to vote. The students will run their own type of uh election only, but it's not for the entire body of the students, but it is for uh your the the teachers that teach civics. Um and then I think it could come also off of Dr. Underwood's um student advisor student advisor report. So, and and
they always do a junior and a senior. In the first year, you would do um you would do both at the one election. And then after that, you are only electing the junior. Uh so that the the junior is already there with the senior and they just change over. So, I was going to get your thoughts about whether you thought that would be a decent plan. And I were moving the around cuz somebody keeps telling me he's going to get microphones. He's doing it right now. He's doing it right now. He's He's ordering it off of Amazon as we speak. No, I think that's a great idea. I really do like um the two different ages of the junior and the senior and how like students are electing them up. Um I'm personally very honored
to have this position and I know it was not necessarily like the student decision. Um I know I was talking to Mr. Kensinger and Dr. Underwood about it. Well, not Underwood, um Sizemore. And they were saying that it was kind of their decision to appoint me in this position, but I do think that it's very important to have the student I mean student representation. So, they would want the person who would they would want to be representing to the board. So, I think it's a great idea with the election and everything. >> So, then the other part of that um and the staff knows what I consider what's next year. You don't normally get those, but I I'm going to give you a what's next and it's probably to Dr. Mackin and and Dr. Settleman.
Not only do they do that, but they also bring these people in for there's a uh whole organization that is just student board members nationally. And they do a conference. It's the National School Board National Student School Board Members Association. Um and I would be more interested in that. They are willing to do Zoom classes with our student reps to go over some things. Um all of them are former student reps that are in this organization. And so, I think that that would be an interesting uh thing for you guys to look at to see if that's something that we could do. Once again, I still think we have a very >> Well, that's possible. I don't even know how we would work that out. But, that's just I'm just throwing it out there what
I got on that class. Um the other one I got was um on uh school districts that were doing similar things like we're doing with the starting the magnets program and uh and it was Fulton County, Georgia. And they did a whole program on trying to do the different magnet schools and they did uh bus hubs for the different districts. So, their their suggestion was if there was a student that lived in the Kentucky Trail area, that would be the hub for them to go to they would go to that school and then they would go as a matter of fact, they feed them breakfast at that at their home school and then they take them to as a hub and then gets the buses a bus to go to the different magnets so that
you have transportation. And I thought that was uh was a a very interesting doing it. So, um I'll try to get you that information as well, but it's Fulton County, Georgia, which is I think it's north of Atlanta and it's a it's a large school district. It's a county school district. So, they have a they have a pretty robust plan of what we're doing. Um they have something similar to pathways. They call it something else. ED2, I I something else. So, those were the two that I um really uh went back to. I did the the student rep one twice, actually, cuz I um missed part of what they were talking about on the first one. So, other than that, I thought CASB as always is a is a good conference. I hope that uh
more board members will be able to go next year. Um and next year it is in Dallas, back in Dallas. So, that's what I got from that. Dr. Ed Woody, any final thoughts on CASB? No, I thought it was the best one yet. Yeah, I it was they're getting better. I like to say one thing about CASB, when we first joined they were like 24 states, now there's 31. Mhm. Uh so, apparently we've opened some eyes with states that what we're doing is a might be a little bit better than the national school boards. Yeah, I still think down the road that they'll combine, but that I I think, personally, that's probably 5 years out, at least. So, all righty. So, the next one is uh MSBA Board of Directors nomination. Um I need this
board's approval to run for Region 4 Board of Directors. That's a 2-year term um starting for next year and ending in uh June of '28. So moved. Second. Second. We have a motion and a second to approve me to run for Board of Directors for Region 4, which is our region. Any discussion? Seeing none, all in favor say I. I. I. All opposed? That passes. Uh Mr. Vice President, I'll need you to sign that. Wouldn't look good for me to sign my own document. All right. Uh we are proposing a moving a the May meeting from May 20th to May 18th or 19th. Um think about that. I don't think we need to make that We don't need to make that until the next meeting, but I I wanted to get that out there in
case there's anybody that would have any heartburn for May 18th or 19th. Okay. All righty. Miscellaneous dates. >> One quick question. Yes, sir. When we look at moving this, are we going to move the student recognition that that date as well with the board meeting? Oh, that's a great point. Uh >> Just asking. That's a great point. I Yeah, we we could do it that way as well or we could do Well, that gives us time to think about which way we'd want to do that. So, I'll let the board decide how they want to do that. We can I can I'm I'm happy either way of doing it that way. Okay? All righty. Miscellaneous dates. We have our senior citizen luncheon on March 27th at the BHS Field House at 12:00 p.m. Most of
the seniors will show up about 10:00 including including my parents. Um and I hope you will have time to come and join us maybe. Uh that would be nice. Uh March 28th is prom at Stoney Creek. March 30th through April 3rd is no school, spring break except for seniors. April 6th, no school, PD staff collaboration day. April 13th is the Board of Education meeting at 7:00 p.m. Well, when we will reset the Board of Education. April 17th is the Belton Educational Foundation Pirate Dash at 7:30 p.m. May 8th graduation. Can't imagine that somebody's looking forward to that at Cable Dahmer. August 8th is the Troy Shaw Golf Tournament. Are there any dates coming up? Uh there is one coming up that's not on there. It's the end of April, which is the Grace end of
year car carnival. Okay. April 24th. There you go. I knew that was on my calendar. I just don't bring my phone. Any other dates that the chair missed? Okay. Chair will accept a motion. Motion to adjourn the meeting. Second. We have a motion and a second to adjourn the meeting. Any discussion? Saying then, Norm. Yes. Mary. Yes. Dave. >> Yes. Karen. Yes. Jim. Yes. We're opposed. Thanks, folks. Thanks. We'll see you guys.
