One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Next item on the agenda is request for comments. We did not have any but we will go on to the next item which isformational items. Have a presentation um on athletic and activities. Good evening. Uh we've done this athletic update a couple different times over the last uh couple years. We do a three times a year.
006We'll do a fall, we'll do a winter, and then we'll do a spring. Uh so tonight we'll do the fall athletic ser uh update and there's seven different uh sports or athletic activities that happen within the fall semester. Um is the is the slideshow up there? Do we have the >> Oh, the one I sent you. Is that available? If not, it's okay. >> I think it's kind of the same order. It's okay if not. There it is. So, those are the the seven sports. Um the cross country, of course, that's a boys and girls combo co-ed with that. Uh football, then uh girls golf. Boys golf will be in the springtime. Um and then soccer, boys are in the fall. Softball, swimming, boys, and then volleyball. Okay, if we go to the next one.
007Um and so we'll give you some basic information and some detailed information depending on the um which athletic competition it was. Uh some are different than others as you can imagine with different competitions and accolades. Uh so basic information on cross country both boys and girls. You can see in the high school uh we had 29 boys and 25 girls participate. The junior high we also had a a good number uh that participated there. Um something to point out Mitch F camp was a CLC east. members CLC's divided east and west. He's co uh coach of the year and that's his third straight year uh doing that. We go to the next one, please. Uh this is just on boys cross country. We won't read through every single one of these, but you have these
008um at at your disposal there, but we did have uh three all state qualifiers with Chase and Garrett and Andrew and then uh some of the same with all conference. U and then we have all of our school records. If you've never been to our website, we have all of our school records online as well. And so some of these will be in there or we'll be going in there shortly. Uh and Coach Famp does a good job with a lot of statistics and a lot of data. As you can imagine, cross country is all statistics and data. And uh anyway, so you can see the list up there of some of those performers and the the the list. I mean, cross country's been a while around a long time and some of these people
009are fourth or fifth or sixth on the list. And I think that uh speaks highly of what he's done with that program. Um and then the last one down there, academic all state, I think that's six kids on there. Um and I kind of mentioned earlier, but when we do some of these accolades, every athletic competition has their own association. And so the coaches get together or that association gets together to determine criteria. And so academic all state I don't know the specific criteria but whatever that was that was set and established by their association uh these six kids uh met that criteria and therefore they garnered all state uh academic recognition. Can you go to the next one please? And then on the girls uh we were the COC East champions. Um so congratulations
010to the girls division. Uh Sydney Listister was the fastest girl in uh the COC East. So, congratulations to her. And then you can see some of the other additional um uh runners in some of their times. Um Sydney was also 10th all state. She was 10th overall. So, I don't remember how many runners were. If you've ever been to the state cross country on the golf course, there's a lot of runners out there. And she was 10th overall, which uh speaks highly of her. So, congratulations. Um and then some of the other and then academic all state at the at the bottom of that one. I think there's six girls that also met that criteria for uh all state. Uh, all right. If we'll go to the next one. On football, I think these are
011just in alphabetical order, by the way. So, football, we had right at exactly 100 participants on the 912 level. Uh, you can see our our various records there, varsity, JV, and freshman. And at the junior high, we had 102 between seventh and eighth grade. Uh, and then you can see the the eighth grade and seventh grade records, and they're all about 500. So, we hope that that program is starting to build and and it's starting to kind of carry on. Um and um we're as you'll see here in a second, he's kind of building that culture. So hopefully we're on that right momentum swing. If you'll go to the next one. So he just uh coach Cordell sent this information to me just I asked for some specifics. And so he talked about his youth
012development and that grades one six kind of one of the push we've had for coaches is how to build their youth programs. And I think you've probably heard a lot of information. He's done a lot of good job uh good job with the youth development. And so just a list of things there. Some of the things to point out like bullet three that the reading the football tigers. You've seen that where they've gone to elementary schools and read the different mini camps he's doing. They go to the elementaryaries and do a camp as opposed to having them come onto the high school campus or whatnot. They meet them where they are and then speed and skills camp, father son camp, youth camps. So he's done a whole lot trying to build that culture of of
013different opportunities and experiences for our kids. The community day in August, I don't know if you ever been to that. that's at the stadium with all the youth football and hot dogs and and lots of people participating in that. The Friday mornings, you've seen those videos on Friday mornings where they greeted elementary kids and other sports do similar things is just on his list. And then the junior high development, he's really trying to get his high school coaches down to the junior high level and involved more, which is challenging. It's time, but that's kind of been a focus on them to get down to those uh to those lower levels, the seventh and eighth grade levels. Um, so he's just trying to align that u the coaching aspect of that 712 program. We'll go to
014the next one, sir. Uh, then the high school gore, they're doing some champion sessions. Um, and I could spend an hour trying to tell you how he does all this, but just know it's it's very detailed starting with the draft that he does here coming up. If you've ever been to the draft in the auditorium, they put that on u just like the NFL draft would be. Um, and our kids have really, you know, they dress up for that and everything. Uh then he does some leadership curriculum and then he put in just some offensive categories. Uh football's been around a long time, had a lot of uh stats in there and this was one of the best offensive productions we've had this year. Record may not have been as great, but I think it's
015starting to show what we're trying to get to hopefully. Uh and then Pton Russell. This was kind of usually want to have a quarterback start three years. You may have a tailback or a lineman or maybe a linebacker, but for a quarterback to start three years, that's um uh pretty rare. So, Pton Russell started 31 games and he was hurt a couple of those games this year. Um, if we'll go to the next one. And then some of the accolades again, uh, voted on by the association. Um, and it's a catch 22. If you put too many kids up for nomination, it splits all their votes and no one gets it. So, you have to be kind of careful how you nominate kids. So, you can see some of the first teamers and second teamers
016in in football, they break it down like that. And then in the middle, the class uh, six district five. Again, class six is the largest football class in the state of Missouri. So, where's the competition? It's it's right here in Ozark, the teams that we're facing. Um, so you see the the district accolades and the all COC East uh first team and second team. Some of those kids are on multiple of those as you can imagine. Um, and Hendricks Ames was on offense and defense. If we'll go to the next one, please. Uh, in girls golf, we had 11 participants and you probably remember the name Josie Roberts. she's done well over the past couple years and uh she was all COC uh all district and then she was fourth place in the state uh
017which is pretty remarkable. It's the highest anyone's ever finished and you have a lot of private schools and and other schools such as that and so that's a remarkable accomplishment to place individually fourth overall in the state of Missouri. Uh and then a mcall state there were several girls on that list as well. Next one, please sir. In soccer, uh we had 45 boys. That That's a lot. I I don't know of many schools with that many participants. So, we don't cut in soccer. Um and so that's why you can see that C team on there. Um and it's it's just a it's struggle trying to get them games sometimes because not every team has that uh level. So, you may be playing some JV teams as well, but uh they've done a good job
018trying to to increase that participation. We have a lot of younger kids coming up through our youth soccer program, so they kind of need to find a home. Uh, and you can see all three levels have done pretty well on that program. The next one, please. Uh, and then some of the, um, accolades here. Again, academic all state. Carson and Brady both were there. And then, uh, Carson also was an all-state honorable mention. That's regular all state, not academic. Uh, and then you can see the all region and all state. Several students or several athletes landed on that one. Uh, and then our team, u, Zach Owens is the head coach, but our our team was voted Missouri soccer coaches team sportsmanship award. Um, so congratulations to them on that. And the soccer's averaged about
01920 wins a season over the past five seasons. So, uh, they've done very well. And so hopefully we can continue that tradition on boys soccer. And if we'll go to the next one, uh, softball has 23 participants. There's just two teams, varsity and JV and softball. uh 22 and 14 this year and JV just under 500 with with nine and 10. And then you can see the accolades there. All region had a couple second teamers on there. All district we had some first and second teamers. Uh you might recognize some of the names on there even if you're not a softball parent. Um and then we were third place in the COC this year. Um and then we just putting the bottom uh the first season for coach Brendan Schneider. If you remember, we hired
020him last year out out of Joplain. Uh they finished the year uh winning 15 out of 18 games and they had a sevengame winning streak. Took first place in the RA tournament. Um and then um they played for first in the district championship and five to four I believe was the score there. Got kind of a heartbreaker there. But uh but they did beat topseated Kikapoo. So there there's good things on the horizon and and Brandon's also doing a lot of good things with the youth there as well in softball. We'll go to the next one. Boy swimming. This one again, not very much information. Again, they don't have the duels or the competitions. They'll go to different tournaments, but uh we didn't necessarily put their place. And if you ever been to a swim
021meet, there's like 24 and 30 schools. It's large large tournaments. And the boys only had six participants. So, it's it's difficult um to to do very well when you only have like it's the same four boys on a relay every time. and that may not be their strength in that particular race, but they do it anyway because there's only a couple of them there. Um, and the challenge for us in swimming right now is the coach isn't here. And so, it's hard to do that recruiting. There's not a lot of youth development swimming. Uh, but Steve Boyce, as you know, he coaches four other teams. He's a Missouri Hall of Fame coach, but he is retiring. So, we'll be on the lookout for a new swimming coach. So, if you know of anyone that might
022actually work here at the school that may help us with that recruitment. But anyway, those uh those kids, I think it was really five that qualified with one alternate um uh to go to state swimming. Was there a question? >> Yeah, I was just getting ready to say something about that. We only have six participants and all six of them qualified for state. That's extraordinary. 100%. >> Yeah, exactly. So, uh and as as you can imagine, like a lot of sports, there's two a days there. They're driving to the niatorum at 5:00 in the morning and 5:00 p.m. and or their parents are driving them depending on your age. So it's a challenge to do that. So you those swimmers have to be dedicated to do just because of the situation. U next one please.
023Uh tennis again not much information on here so I apologize but uh we did have 43 tennis play that's a lot of tennis players. You know we have six courts and 43 kids. There's not a home for everyone. Uh but varsity did well 13 and n on their competitions. Um and then JV was just under 500. And then in volleyball, um, we had 34 kids on the three different levels at 912. Uh, you can see the records there, 32 and three in varsity, 19-0 on the JV, 23-1 on the freshman. You can see first place in this tournament and that tournament runner up. So they did had a very outstanding successful volleyball season. Um, and coach put this together for me. They were 74 and four. If you want to add those three, uh, 912
024for 94%age. Junior high also did well as you can kind of see some of their records. They wereif 53 and 17 and three for the all the junior high program 74% winning and then total package for 7127 and 21. So again good things happen in the volleyball world. Next one please. Then some of the accolades if if you watch much we had some very dominant uh volleyball players as we normally do each year. Uh Tara Venible as her name's going to be on here multiple times. She was just outstanding. Um, and so you can see some of her awards there along with others. But Tara and Lucy, uh, a freshman, by the way, Lucy Roark, a freshman volleyball player, all state. That's, uh, that's pretty good if you're not around volleyball or freshman playing high
025school sports. U, uh, pretty good. So, congratulations to both of them. And then several kids there on academic all state. And I love to put that in there because it does really show that student athlete piece. And again, some of these uh again, I did go over the criteria, but it's challenging. It's not like you just get a 3.8 GPA in your all state. There's there's other criteria that goes along with that. And so, um, we can go over that other criteria later. I can send it to you, but it it it's it's something to be commended for some of that work because it's very difficult to get academic all state. Um, and then anyway, you can kind of go through that. Um, and then if you'll go to the next one, please, sir. Uh,
026Terara set some new uh, career kill records. And again, go on the website and see all those records. We have them as far back as the coaches gave us statistics for. If you know someone that set a record, let us know. We'll get it on there. We just can go off of what we have. Uh, they had a 28game winning streak. That's pretty good. Um, um, and coach put that in there. Not sure if that's a record, but it probably is. That's pretty good. And then if you don't know, she was the uh Misha Missouri coach of the year and then also that section five. So you can How many states is that? One, two, three, four, five, six different states in this Midwest area. She was coach of the year for that region. So
027not just the state of Missouri, but >> a region. So congratulations to coach Presman. >> And I believe that was the final. Sorry, I know that was pretty quickly, but questions on the athletic update. >> One on the uh the soccer. So, I think we do we hire a third coach? >> Yes, sir. >> Now, that >> is there a plan for there to be like a freshman league or is it just the C teams or how does that work? Yeah, most schools right now in our area don't have like a freshman team like a volleyball would and so uh we do that C team and just try to play those other schools and some of the schools I think more and more are getting that. I could see one day they could have a
028freshman team but we'll stick with the C team right now. Uh but we did hire a third coach. That's not necessarily to be the freshman coach. It's more of another assistant, but it can definitely it can definitely turn into that if but we just wouldn't have a a complete schedule right now because no one else has a freshman team. >> Good question. >> Thank you. >> Do all of the sports have a youth program associated with it? Sorry, come back. Yes, sorry about that. >> What was that? >> The strongest youth programs. >> Well, I'm sorry >> for the sports. So football has a good youth program associated with it and >> yeah it it just varies. So some have a very strong youth program like our football football doesn't do a lot of traveling.
029So we host our own Ozark youth program used to run through the park board and we had you know five or six team depend on you know six teams at the third and fourth six teams at the fifth and sixth. Now it's Ozark youth football and they go play other towns. Yeah. >> Uh but like softball doesn't have a youth program. Most of those girls are farmed out. They go play in a league somewhere in their own travel teams for those types of sports. Uh basketball, volleyball. We're trying to do what we call these camps or clinics. So they'll bring them on the weekends. And the goal would be is to not only train the the players or the athletes, but also the parents. So we want that parent of a second grader that our
030high school coach wants to hey here's what we do here. Here's our offense. Here's our defense. Here's our system. Here's our philosophy. And we hope we start to train those parents on how to be uh good coaches or mentors or whatnot. So, every sport's a little bit different. Some, like football, has their own. Others, if they don't have their own, we we try to figure out how to how to make an impact on them. >> Yes. Yeah. Does so does soccer have a youth? >> Yeah, soccer is actually big. So, what we did, and I can't remember the soccer name, any soccer people can help me, but uh we've uh partnered not partnered, that's wrong word, but there's a soccer association out there. And so this is kind of their home base. If if you
031remember way back when any volleyball players, we used to kind of do that with Springfield Juniors. Like every Wednesday night, they were in like four of our facilities and they had all 12 15 teams from the area practicing as Ozark >> on on a Wednesday night. We've kind of done that with soccer. So whatever that soccer association is, I can't think of the name. They this is their home base and so they do a lot of theirs here. And uh Coach Owens and the soccer staff's a part of that. I don't think they're like a voting board member, but I think they're on that board for uh consultation type of stuff. >> Yeah, maybe we could add the youth numbers in next year or something. So, we could just get an idea of those programs
032that are growing and >> Yeah, I'll get the ones that we have that we're in control of. I can definitely add that. >> Yeah. >> And I can do that for the winter the winter updates if we like basketball. It'd be hard, but we can give you those how many are coming to those camps on the Sundays and things like that. >> That' be great. Yeah. Thank you. You bet. >> Mr. Mr. Chambers, I have one more thing >> and maybe it isn't for this part of the agenda. I'm not for sure, but it has to do with the activities and the sports and the athletics >> and we've talked about before several different times and even for a long time during our work session about how stipens are awarded. >> Yeah. And I would
033like to propose that we put on the agenda maybe for next month so we can talk about it, think about it this month and talk about it together as a group next month that we form a committee to talk about how to develop some objective standards so that everybody will know before they come which stipen level. There are so many levels and so many salary schedules just so there's something objective to say there are these many participants in soccer. there are these many stipens available. There are these many participants in cheer. There are these many I mean and there might be lots of different factors to consider but just to write it down and have something objective so it doesn't seem to exhibit favoritism or it doesn't seem to you know so we can direct
034what we want to reinforce. We want to reinforce that there's a lot of community engagement so we'll >> make that stipened a little higher. you know, I think I think that would be something worth doing. >> Yeah, I'll wait for further direction on that. >> Thank you. >> Right. Right. We've been talking about it a lot. In last work study, we looked at those and so that'd be good to look at it in a different way. >> Thank you. Oh, sorry I wasn't on. Um, sorry about that. Um, next item are reports. Superintendent update. I just want to quickly share with you and I think I'd sent an email a couple of weeks ago when the governor issued his state of the state address and what the three main priorities that he had for education
035for public education. first was uh open enrollment. Uh definitely um wanting to see open enrollment I think pass um in the state of Missouri. Currently there are two Senate bills um waiting to be heard and then Representative Pollock has one in the House, but I don't have that number. I looked and couldn't find the exact number on that. But that is uh basically the Senate bills are the same that has been in the past and the house bill will be the same but now it has been a governmental priority um or governor priority. So that's open enrollment. Um also one of his key priorities was Misha. I believe he wants to see a five member appointed board to govern Misha. Um right now it is independent from the schools and um you know you you
036worry about uh governmental governmental intrusion on something like that or um maybe it will help. I don't know but that is definitely it sort of came out of the blue um for us. I didn't see that one on the radar. And then another one was uh A throughF school accountability proposals to where right now we have uh for accountability we have APR we also have MSEP and so what he is wanting to do is change that to a school would be rated A through F. I don't know what the criteria is for that. Um I would hope that there would be collaboration with that and that we could have conversations on how that looks. Um, I will tell you that if you start saying that a school is a D or a school is a
037C, a school is so much more than that. It is so much more than one letter grade. Um, it is uh all the things that we're trying to do with SRSN with our dashboard of everything on that that tells the story of a school. So a B does not tell the story of the school, but I would hope that as they're developing that they would have collaboration so that we could have input on that. So those are the three main things that are um that was his key priorities and I just wanted to keep that in front of you. >> Are the rankings for just public or private and public and charter or are they considering? >> I'm sorry. >> Are the rankings that are being considered from what I was >> from what I
038was told just for public schools? Yeah, because a private and a charter school, they're not held to the same standards as a public school. We have um federal mandates. We also have the MAP and we have EOCC's that we are held accountable for where a private and a public school or charter school. They're not held accountable to that. So it would be a different >> the charters and not the private charters and private schools can opt in but they have to opt into all the testing. >> Right. >> So my guess is no one's going to opt in. But it is open to them if they chose but they would uh have to opt into all the testing and I just don't see it happening. >> No. Yeah. Hey, on the on the funding piece
039for open enrollment, sorry. >> Could you if we get to that point, I know there's been conversation around how that would the funding would change and it's kind of all over the place, but I think it'd be important for the the people of Ozark to understand what type of financial piece that would be for them. So, as that gets a little more settled, I I think our >> our town um is very supportive of our school district, right? And so, if open enrollment passes, I think they need to know that not all of the funding from student who's out of district comes with that student, correct? That the people of Ozark would then be funding an outof resident students education. Um and what percentage that that would be. So, um, as that gets maybe cleared
040up or whatever version it ends up with, will you bring that because I think we get to see that. >> Um, but I don't know that the public gets to see that and I think it's important because we have a town who supports our school district and a large piece of our funding comes from our local. It doesn't come from state. So, what do we rank? >> Missouri's 49th in state funding for schools. So, it's important that our local people understand that to have the school district that we have, it's it's not coming from the state. It's gonna be on their backs. >> Yeah. It's coming from the people here in the city. >> Um they will it's been said and and especially in the House bill that you can opt in to open enrollment.
041Um and you can you can opt in to allowing students to come to your school. Uh and we as far as I know right now, we would set the parameters for that. The bad part is is that you can't opt out of letting students leave your district. So, uh there's a 3% cap I think at this point that in any given year students could leave your district. Um in my opinion, the moment that they leave your district, you're you're in open enrollment. Um and we are we will have as a board as a community to decide if students leave us do we need to open go into open enrollment and allow students to come to us but that will be a decision that we'll have to make together >> and that will be something to
042discuss a lot but one thing to consider is if a student leaves their local funding stays here. It does. Local funding does stay here. >> Now, we lose their state funding. It's about half. Is that right? About 48 or 49% is >> somewhere around there. >> Yeah. >> So, what's that about $6,000 per student? >> About 6,000 is state funding. >> It depends on the It depends on the district that they're coming from, too. So, we correct. So, we >> the state piece be the same. >> State piece would be the same. >> Okay. >> Yeah. It'd be based on their attendance and enrollment. >> Y. If local funding followed then yes schools are funded at different levels locally. >> Was that in the discussion at one point the local funding also going? >> Not
043that I know of. It's always been state that follows the student but not the local piece of it. >> Right. Next on the list are district reports. Um, we do appreciate you guys submitting those. Is there any comments or questions that anybody has about them? >> I have a couple. And and there might not have been time to find out yet on the enrollment. I love getting to see these different reports, but I did have a question on the enrollment. Did you find out about the those tabs or whatever they are down the >> I can tell you what it was. So I looked at I added a row that was extra compared to what was done last year. So that was my coffee expertise not being at its best. >> I like I like
044it because you've been putting on there so we can see a trend of how it's going each month, you know, and I thought, oh, maybe some numbers are just accidentally got left off each month or was there a little tab we could click to find out or is there something else? >> I don't mean to make more work for you. Thank you for putting that together. I have another All right. Does anybody else have anything else they want to say on that? >> Okay. The operations report, I was so excited. The Let me read this. The roofing project at the high school is now complete. All work has been inspected and improved and final payment has been made. Everything is done. >> Yes, please. >> Every single part of the high school roof. I mean,
045for years and years, that thing has leaked in different parts and there's been problems, but it's all finished. >> It is all finished. I don't guarantee there are no leaks, right? >> But yeah, the nice thing Joplin has addressed anytime we may call Jop has been >> I cannot celebrate that enough. Yay. >> A little longer than what we expected, but I am glad they're out. >> Huh, that's so good. Thank you for making a priority of that. It seems like I had another question on this report. >> No, was that it? >> Oh, that's a different one. Yeah, the learning. Okay, so now I have a question on the learning report. Um, and Lori talked to me about this a little bit, but I just thought maybe some other people might like to hear
046like for example, South Elementary, but many different reports mentioned the different tiers. And so would you be willing to share a little bit what you told me or maybe Dr. Carson wants to talk about what it means to be tier two versus tier one? >> In in South report it mentions tier two and I said that tier one is regular instruction and then tier two is when you start pulling students for specific skills and then you move up to tier three and then finally into special education. >> Correct. So that is accurate. Um so we consider the tiers the level of support. So you have general instruction. Uh if a student is in tier one, it just simply means it's happening while kids are learning. And a teacher may be giving uh maybe retaching something
047right on the spot. It's just that job that a teacher does every single day. Right in tier one, it's just general instruction. Tier two is when you may have a student pulled out to read with a buddy. you're you're going to do something that's a little more elevated in the kind of uh instruction that you give. And uh when they move to tier three, then it's probably a pull out. Maybe a reading recovery would be an example of tier three where you have more of a one-on-one, one-on- two setting where the student is really uh trying to fill in holes and some gaps. So, uh, and the goal is that you don't you don't that all the tiers are happening at the same time. So, when we pull out a student for reading recovery, they're
048not missing their their other English language work. They're act that's at a different time. So, you're the tiers are really just bases of support and the higher the tier, the more intense it is. And then when it's talking about a tier four, which it ends at three, but then it would move into special education. But the goal of the tiers is to keep students out of special education. And so that is it's called multi- MTSS, multi-tiered support system. >> Thank you. >> Yeah, you're welcome. >> That's all those >> something about the uh back to Richie. Uh let's see. So baseball field. >> Yes sir. >> Now what's the opening day mentioned on >> opening day >> for I guess for baseball >> March 23rd. Okay. >> We have games on Saturday then overflow in
049France. But >> so it says that turf is scheduled to arrive this Saturday. Is there delay for the weather? >> Last Friday. >> Okay. >> They were out shoveling snow off a field today. >> Nice. I told them we had to be on field market. So I think the weather has hurt a little bit, but they promised me they will have us on the field. >> All right, sounds good. >> And I was excited to read that the grant is going to cover 75% of that. Whoever wrote that grant proposal, thank you. >> Yeah, good. Thank you. That's awesome. Oh, that was that for the watering. Sorry, that wasn't baseball. Sorry. But anyway, I'm excited to see grants covering expenditures. Okay. Yeah, that's great. >> All right. Next item are our future dates. Everybody can
050look through those. Um Oh, >> is that middle school date shifting? >> We will reschedu that. >> Okay. All right then. Um, hope everybody can go to as much as those they as they can. It's like we were scheduled through June. >> All right. Next item. I would entertain a motion to approve the consent agenda. But we need >> do that. Can we pull item O, please? >> Yep. >> The update the job descriptions. We'll just pull that one off and do it separately. We'll add that to new business. >> Thank you. >> Then I'll make a motion to approve the consent agenda minus O. >> I second. >> Motion by James, second by Rayanne. All in favor. Okay. Passes unanimously. All right. Now we're in new business. >> Do we do we want to
051go right to that? >> Sure. I guess we're okay with that. All right. So, let's look at the update on the job descriptions. The item that we were wanting to discuss was the executive director of special services. Um, someone wanted to make a motion for that. >> So, our recommendation for that, we are trying to cast a pretty wide net for uh our next leader for the executive director of special education. What we did, we took off on number two where you see the strikeout, we took off special education administrative certificate and we just made it just a general administrative certificate. So we would like to rechange that. Uh so reads a valid desi administrator certificate specific endorsement for special education administration preferred. So the the qualification is a valid desi administrator certificate and then
052in parentheses you have specific endorsement for special education administration preferred. >> That's good. Thank you for being respond. >> Now by doing by removing the special part is that going to any way detract the capability or qualification of the candidate? >> No sir. We're going to hire the best candidate in the last three or four uh special education directors that we've had. Some have had this certificate, some have not. Uh, and so we'll just choose the best candidate and present to you the best candidate. Uh, but we would prefer that they have this uh, special admin special educator administrator endorsement. >> Right. >> Christine, was there a change you had? >> That was you want me to make the >> What's it take for the certification >> or endorsement? Is it just as >> do
053they generally work towards those if they are if they're hired without it? Do they work towards those six classes or is it carry on and move forward just move forward? >> I'd like to move that we accept those job descriptions with the amendment on the executive director of special services to read like Dr. Carson said a valid education administrative certification from Desi and in parenthesis with a special education administration certificate preferred >> motion by Christina >> and I second >> second by Ryan. >> Did you get that? >> I'll send you the wording. >> Thank you. >> All in favor? That passes unanimously. >> Thanks. >> Okay. Now on to new business. to approve the consent. >> We just have we just pulled >> I know. >> So, it's the North Channel plan. It's recommended
054that um I entertain a motion that we approve this bid and then we can have discussion. But I need a motion. >> So, second Okay. Motion by Matt, second by Dustin, and then we're open for discussion. >> Good evening. Uh, this is another project at the baseball field. Uh, if you're not familiar with the baseball field, there is a drainage ditch that runs behind the third base dugout all the way past Southfield wall to the creek that runs behind uh the field. Our goal is to add a junction box to the existing pipes, renew pipes that take it all the way to the outfield wall to the drainage. Cover the ditch, make seed it with grass so that spectators can set on the side of the hill. Right now, you have an open ditch. It's
055tough to keep clean. It's a hazard. Uh I think this will be an upgraded field to make it look much nicer. I think it's just ugly. >> Okay. So, I'll use wording. >> Uh, so we ran advertisements in the paper for two weeks right after Christmas. We received three bid. We really received four bids. I had to disqualify one because they did not meet the requirements. Uh, Luke Shelton was the best bid at $105,500. I would recommend that uh you accept that. move forward with that product. >> Right. Any questions? >> I'll make a motion that we accept the bid as pres. >> Yeah. >> Oh, I did have a question on the hazard part. Do we have a fence around it or something? Is as far as the hazardous, >> don't you think we
056need something so that people don't go in or >> Well, I mean, when they start working on it, they they will have to the company will have to put the hazard. But I mean if we have a hazard right now though we need something. >> Yes. And that's why we're kind of >> what's the ETA on getting it started >> going to start on February one last week >> today asking still on. I told him I text him if we got approval tonight. Sure. >> I think the main issue is it fills is one of the main issues that it like fills up with water and it can be a drowning hazard for like little kids that are running around. >> That that's not as much because there are so many retention ponds and then
057it's just un >> it's just ugly. It's just ugly. >> It's just ugly. That's the best way to grow up. We have >> we have we need it all summer long and we just we struggle keeping up with >> Okay. >> I tried to put a picture in there >> and you can kind of see what it looks like right now. So >> Okay. Okay. So not really a hazard hazard just >> well in there when you say hazard and I I'm a married to an attorney and we have one on the bullet too. So I'm sure we go who. So >> yeah. Okay. Uh, all in favor passes unanimously. Thank you. >> Oh, >> stay for the cattle. >> stay for the cattle. >> The next item is the cattle waterings system installation. Um,
058I would recom uh I entertain a motion to approve the DND billing. >> So moved. >> Okay. Thanks. >> Second. >> We have a motion by Christina, second by James, and we are ready for your presentation. >> As you guys saw, we had several bids come in. We're recommending the second highest bid. Uh we put it in the write up there that the lowest bid had omitted um a couple items that we noted that were pretty important. Uh namely, they didn't have it setting on concrete pads. They just had we was going to set those on the on the gravel and that was not a good long-term solution. So, we're recommending that bid from DN 84 335. >> That was the second lowest. >> They were the second lowest by by a big margin. Um,
059and I will just say that that D&D was the only company to come out, walk the property, really inspect it, talk to us about it. Um, and I feel like has the best idea for the scope of what we're trying to cottage. >> Okay. Yeah. So, I had the I had the same question, Christina, about the difference, but it looks like it's pretty itemized in there. >> Yes. And this is the one where we have to pay 25% of it. >> Correct. Yes. Thank you for getting that. Great. >> Yeah. Are the kids excited? >> Yeah, they're thrilled. They're really excited to get out there. >> Do we have the paddling? >> We do not. Presentation is done. >> Okay. All right. Any other questions? All right. All in favor? passes unanimously. Thank you. >>
060Okay. The next item I don't know who's going to present, but it is on the Is it Lori? >> She's on the >> next item is the Ozark Education Foundation. Um, I I would entertain a motion to approve this and then we can start talking about it. >> So, >> second. >> Motion by Sarah, second by James. >> I'll try not to cough into the microphone. >> All right. Um, I would like to recommend that the board of education approve the establishment of this fund. Um, currently we have multiple funds and they run through the community foundation of the Ozarks. So, Community Foundation of the Ozarks is the umbrella and then within it there are multiple other uh foundations or funds and I didn't put this on there but we have the Finley River Foundation
061and so that is the next level down and then off of that you have the Care to Learn Ozark Cares the Ozark Teachers and Employees Fund years ago 20 25 years ago probably they created the Ozark Teachers and Employees Fund. a few years after that, they changed the name of that fund to the Ozark Educational uh foundation fund, but what goes through that right now currently are um donations from our teachers and we pay out grants to our teachers through that. I would I after talking to Karen Miller who leads that, she stated that she would be very happy to take that name and make it the Ozark Teachers and Employees Fund again so that we could have the name of the Ozark Education Foundation fund. And within that, I would like to create a
062board as well as uh a leazison to work with the district on fundraising on various uh create bylaws and a plan and a vision on what we want this foundation to be as far as to have big events for to raise money for our students always that it's student focused, but also if there's a big project out there that we know that we need to fund at some point that we have money there. Also, I think this is something that we can run our um an academic hall of fame through. We currently do not have an academic hall of fame. Um we have an athletic hall of fame and I would like to have it moved underneath there and have this organization to where it really brings in the community and the alumni for buyin
063um to build once again that tiger pride for the future. So right now it is a fund that I would like to open up under the community foundation of the Ozarks >> and it's funded through donations. >> Donations. >> I think that's excellent. >> Yeah. >> So is there any money to start the fund or you just going to open the account right now? >> Opening the account right now >> and then >> I can put I can put a dollar in there and it'll be the first donation in there. >> Uh and then after after the bank account then establish a board you said. Mhm. >> pieces. >> Yes. Create by us. >> But that board won't really report to us. >> We're not. >> So, we're just approving that you're allowed to meet
064this fund >> and then it kind of operates independently of >> Yes, sir. Okay. >> Yes, sir. I maybe I'm misunderstanding, but I thought that fund was going to be under like the Finley River with they are the ones who have a board and bylaws and things. >> No, they would have they have their own. It's just once again a pass through. Oh, >> where where they like they we have our own board and Gerald help me with this. We have like a board for care to learn and then there's a board for the Ozark teachers and employees fund and then there would be a board for this this new one. But we're but yeah like just not according to us. We're not in charge of it. >> It would be set up very similar
065to care to learn. >> Great. >> Thank you for taking this on and learning about it. It's transitioned over the years. So this is great to get this. >> It is. It had it was a lot of information learn. And Gerald and I went back and forth and he goes, "Well, we have this." No, you don't. He goes, "Yes, we do. Yes, we do." So Gerald's been a wealth of knowledge for me. >> Yeah. Great. Thank you. In favor passes unanimously. Next item is to approve the appointment of a committee to recommend potential names for the new turf baseball field in accordance with policy FF facility names. I would entertain a motion to to and we can discuss but I would entertain a motion first to approve the appointment of the committee. >> Uh so
066moved. >> I'll second. >> Motion by Sarah, second by Ryan. So I am going to tag team this with Philip and with Gerald. Um so it has come to our attention especially with the new uh field being implemented or created that um we would like to name that field or potentially name that field under some for someone that's that's being honored and we started looking at the policies and it does say in there and I appreciate James bring it more to my attention because I did not catch it. It says in the policy it says to name it policy FF that the board will approve a committee to discuss the name or the potential naming and we are required to bring to you at least two names for you to make a choice from. Um,
067and so the people that we would like to put on this committee, and this is up for discussion, and so if you have someone that you want to place on this committee, uh, please let us know. And you can see through there, um, Phil McGomery, myself, Philip Dow, Gerald Chambers, Richie Fretwell, Shane Nelson, Shane Straw, Karen Miller, Yansancy Little, Mike Hayward, Dustin Kirkman, Justin Sunley, and Jeremiah Oaks. Jeremiah Oaks is a student. Um, we tried to look at people that had a had been in the community for years and years and years that people would respect their opinion, but then also that they would um uh have information or have a love of the game of baseball and know who they would love to honor with this or to name with this honor. Any discussion
068that you would like to have? >> Like a good list. >> Is the student a baseball player? Yes. Correct. Yes. >> Okay. And then we hope to come back to you in February with the name with two >> two >> four or three. >> Two or something. >> Two or three. >> Okay. Yeah. Two is good. Right. Any discussion? Did you agree to be on this? >> All right. All in favor? >> Okay. Dustin is not going to vote. >> He didn't want to vote for himself, but we all did. Everybody else did. >> Just pass. >> Do we want to put that? Did we already put that the thing about the stipens committee? Did we put that on the work session agenda? Is that >> Yeah, we'll put it on the work study. Yeah.
069Okay. >> Um Yeah, I think it's time. Thank you. >> Okay. Um, that's it. Does anybody have anything else? Otherwise, we are adjourned. Go home. Get home safely. Thanks for waiting for us. I know we were delayed. Appreciate it. Grand My name is possible. That
