002you Miss Barber none thank you Miss Bolan uh yes I have um announcement I want to remind everyone about the um restorative practices seminar that's going to be next week January 18th at 6:00 and it continues our um education on restorative practices but you don't have to have attended the first one to attend this one that the first one is really informative and interactive and engaging um so I would encourage everyone to sign up um it's open to um parents families staff anyone who wants to learn more about restorative practices that we'll be tackling over the next um couple years so it's really um great presentation so again um January 18th at 6 o' and there's a link to register for that it's it's uh virtual I should say and there's a link to register
003on our website um under the access and inclusion page so and that's um put on kind of by our di diversity equity and inclusion uh Council great thank you Mr Mones none thank you Mr s williger uh yeah I had the pleasure last night of uh listening in on the elementary school 12 naming committee um it's comprised of uh teachers administrators parents and even some of our youngest uh stakeholders our our elementary school kids um a lot of good discussion a lot of good ideas and I'm excited to listen in on the next one and and then see the the names they bring to us as a board thank you and I just want to quickly just um just say a good Kudos and thank you to our um Health Services team reading through the
004program evaluation Pro um plan you all have done an excellent job and taking care of our families and our students and going way above and beyond everything that probably isn't even necessary so just thank you for all that you do Dr Kimbell uh yeah just a couple quick announcements first of all thank you to all of our families for your flexibility and understanding uh this week as we navigate winter weather uh also thank you to our staff specifically our grounds and maintenance Crews who have had our buildings up and going parking lots sidewalks and uh keeping those uh campuses as safe as possible I think we have an early morning driving crew uh for tomorrow as well uh groundbreaking for elementary 12 we're going to have to delay the current date due to forecast weather

006evening thank you for joining us tonight we have several recognitions and I'm going to call uh thala and Henry you guys come up first please um thala has his PR person in the back row video taping so we're going to do a good job for thala you gentlemen come stand right here please I'm going read a little bit about uh their accomplishment and then have them say a few words uh congratulations to both of you um all from Park Hill High School and Henry from Park Hill South and these folks have earned the questbridge National College match program what this means is that questbridge has matched um Falla with Boston College right it has your last names on here and Henry you're matched with Washington University in St Louis correct and both of these gentlemen
007received full scholarships for four years to attend both of those colleges absolutely amazing so Applause for that [Applause] nearly 21,000 students apply for this program and Quest Bridges 50 College Partners match 2,242 finalists who are recognized with the ultimate award that these gentlemen have received this scholarship match covers the full cost of attendance tuition housing food books supplies and travel absolutely outstanding congratulations again okay do we have family or friends here that would like to wave in the audience yes okay hello oh miss Dr SMY too what would you like to say um I'm very humbled and um incredibly blessed and none of this would be possible without all the people in this room as well as the Park Hill Board of Education and Park Hill is the school district so as much as this
008is my accomplishment just as much as this school district's accomplishment and thank you to everyone here and more importantly thank you to my mom who could be here tonight but is working her butt off at home I don't really have anything to say I'm just really excited to go to college and get am and paid for but I'm just thankful for my parents for raising me so well and I'm just here okay thank you guys congratulations um both are going to enter the medical field um B cardi surgery cardiologist and Henry neurosurgery okay both of go do that um I would have you shake the board in mission's hand but we have some folks who had the sniffles so I was told if you want to just go around and maybe fist bump or air

010um these students there eight of them were recognized with the concert from Tech 9 an announcement by Eric Stone Street right where were you Crown Center Crown Center and it was on Good Morning America they were live on TV that morning from Union Station uh congratulations Julian um and the other seven students from Park Hill High School and Park Hill South who are recognized with $50,000 for college from Casey Scholars would you like to say [Applause] something um hello everyone this night it's been amazing I've been uh preparing on what I was going to say um so so first off I just want to thank my family um they're the best I don't know what I would do without them um and ID like to thank everybody at the school um everybody that um you
011know builds this community and I don't know um I don't this makes it great uh I'm blessed to be in the Park School District and i' like to thank Miss kapra cuz she's the scholar scholarship coordinator and I wouldn't have known about the scholarship without her so thank you thanks Julian we love Miss keer to congratulations uh mom and dad can you wave at us congratulations all right Julian again you can fist bump or air high five and Dr D has your certificate congratulations and Miss sailor would you do Julian as well thank [Applause] you congrat ulations to the families who are here too we're very much proud of you and your kids accomplishments congratulations Julian with that we had lots of student recognitions tonight however I don't know if it's due to weather we
012have lots of activities happening right now but we're finished with our student recognitions and Dr willik Corey willik could not be here because he's filling in for uh basketball supervision tonight due to some illnesses at Park Hill High School so we'll try to get Corey back for his recognition um but very proud of all of our students and staff Dr Kimbrell turn it over to you all right thank you can I have everybody that is here to be recognized for being a Park Hill star please come up and line up right along here and take as much space as we need there they are all right as they are making their way up uh up here um we've got star students that you just got to uh see and then the other thing that we
013have is we have star staff and one of the things that we do is we recognize staff through what's called our Park Hill Stars program and the way that we do this these are uh winners from our first semester and uh we have this for elementary secondary and also for our support staff uh the nominations are taken online and that's open to everybody we get nom nominations from parents community members staff administrators and so on so I encourage you you can nominate anybody for a Star Award uh we present these I get to present these uh on Facebook live uh we go surprise our teachers and our support staff when they are selected from our committee as a winner and we do a spotlight video that you can go see on our YouTube channel as
014well for any of these awesome uh employees that we have so all of the nominees have received a certificate of recognition by me when we did the U uh recognition and the other thing that I always like to point out now is that each one of them receives uh an actual little star plaque and and Trophy and this year I have also um this is what I was wearing at convocation and uh only a handful of people at convocation got these and so now every time I go give uh the uh Star Award I also give a t-shirt out so it is is um a very humbling honor to be able to recognize such awesome awesome teachers I wish we could pick them all because when you read these you figure out why what happened
015here just a second ago of these students standing up here with the successful Futures that they have in front of them is possible because of people that are standing up here next to me right now I'm going to ask you if you could to uh announce your name where you work and what your role is and if youve brought anyone with you here to support uh you tonight uh and anything else you'd like to say uh to the crowd or to the [Music] board hi I'm Roxy pill I'm H the head custodian at Walden Middle School and I've got my couple of my sons here Kyle his wife um my son Luke and three my love nuggets I have seven total lug nuggets these are part of them yeah um so thank you for coming
016you guys and um what else was I supposed to say I forgot anything else you would like to say oh well yeah when they show up at your school it was I mean I was in the cafeteria you know working it making people happy doing what I do and they're like Rocky Roxy I'm like what there's like look of confusion on my face and it was such a shock and it was such an honor and such a surprise and I was just really um honored and and blessed to be picked and I felt the love let me tell you so stay right here doing like a line shuffle oh my gosh hi I'm Becca staffer um I teach band at Plaza at Park Hill High School um I weirdly brought my husband here who is
017also a Star Award winner um and Jaylen Woodley one of my very favorite students is also here um yeah I concur with what Roxy said you coming into my sixth grade class was absolutely outrageous and I totally missed the handshake altogether I just no it was me it was totally me you were just holding the hand out and I just totally missed cuz I was so um surprised because I never expect to get recognized like as teachers we just like work work work and I like keep my head down and it's been so crazy to actually get like rewarded for doing that for after so long yes thank you for everything thank you uh hi um my name is Andrew gesy and I teach U music at Park Hill South High School and Walen Middle
018School um I'm I'm here with my wife as well um and jayen Woodley one of my students uh and I would just like to say it's um such an honor to work in a district where they take time to recognize our teachers um and our faculty and all of our staff um it's such a special place to be and thank you I'm Sarah Becker and I teach second grade at Union Chapel um I think the best part was my students cuz I teach the little people went around and didn't ask people if they knew I was a star they just said did you see us on Facebook so that was that was their favorite part was being on Facebook so um but it's such an honor like everybody says um this is my 22nd year
019in the district so I just really appreciated the recognition hi everybody I'm Sarah schy I teach choir at Park Hill South and I'm lucky to have some people joining virtually this evening watching um similarly to everybody else I'm just really grateful for the recognition both um of me but also of my program and my kids and my colleagues um I'm happy to work here I'm happy to be here and it's a great job to come to every day thank you can you give them one big round of applause please and as you can see this is absolutely one of the uh best parts of my job is to be able to walk into a cafeteria or a band classroom or wherever it is uh we have a surprised people and uh I have a whole
020crew that comes with me and it is uh definitely one of the best things that I get to do and um it's very humbling to uh be able to recognize you because I know the heavy lift that you guys do every single day and that's why uh we are just blessed to have you so thank you so much uh again I think the uh protocol tonight is shaking hands or fist bumps and and so on and then I think uh Miss sailor will take your picture right out in the hall thank you for being here thank you so [Music] much and I see you out Crossing every morning thank [Laughter] youat she's like the cotton ball you know was like how many people in that Stadium down in Texas you know [Music] they oh goodness
021all right and as I uh get to the last res uh resignation um recognition I don't have any announcements like that tonight um we have a uh special recognition and this is uh what's called the meritorious budget award this is an annual thing now for Park Hill and we've been blessed to be able to receive this I'm going to read a little bit about this this is um The Association of school business officials International has recognized Park Hill School District for excellence in budget pre presentation with the meritorious budget award for the fiscal year 2324 congratulations to our district for this accomplishment special shout out to our finance department and Dr Kelly all our support and administrative staff in the buildings that we ensure uh fiscal responsibility and for earning this word for the 17th
022consecutive year this uh this award reflects our District's commitment to sound fiscal management and budgetary policies uh program participation enhances School business officials skills in developing analyzing and presenting a school system budget participants submit their budget documents to a panel of school Financial professionals who review the materials for compliance with the meritorious budget award criteria checklist and other requirements and provide expert Fe feedback that districts can use to improve their budget documents so I have uh this plaque that we thankfully each year add our uh next fisal year like to present it to miss Woodley and I know we can get a picture after the uh uh meeting but if you could give the board and uh Dr Kelly and his team a round of applause that would be great thank and that's we have

024the 10-year longrange planning process the board was presented with eight planning criteria statements on the at the December 14th board meeting and prior to that December uh board meeting the board conducted a two and a half hour work session to discuss refine and prioritize these statements based on thousands of pieces of feedback from the community staff students and stakeholders we plan to use these criteria statements to guide our next step in the process of exploring options uh thank you to Kevin Nelson from Hollis and Miller and his team for partnering with us to facilitate this process Kevin is here with us tonight in the audience and we're asking the board to approve these criteria this evening we are happy to answer any questions I don't have any questions but I just want to um thank

031anyone wants to attend it as a free event um and it's at Liberty High School and they're performing her Art Center so if anyone who pretends that and if you work that day for whatever reason at um 6 o' in the evening SCC the southern Christian leadership conference which Dr King was a part of 6 PM they will be having um a mass celebration at Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church which is on 2310 East Lynwood Boulevard there will be several speakers pastors singing and celebration so there are a couple opportunities where you can participate as well as there are some days of service where you can give back to the community although it's very cold thank you thank you Mrs bars Mrs Barber and thank you m Bola thank you and I don't have anything either
