um indivisible with liberty and justice second next we have a report of the board members mr president um i just wanted to thank our um staff for putting on convocation on august 11th right after the last board meeting it was fun to attend and see the energy that was building um and then i have started attending the trauma smart training sessions with um mrs coleman with amanda at east foothills um and i've really been enjoying those um those sessions it's a lot you go home afterwards and you're just kind of drained emotionally and so i really want to express my thanks to all the staff throughout the district that is um that are going through this um because it's it's it's a lot to process at times so um and then also i was able
to attend the ray peck green valley raytown raytown south home swim meet last wednesday and watch some of our our boys swim it was good fun um and i got put in charge of concession stands so i was breaking in the money you know 50 cents at a time so so thank you anyone else all right next we'll have uh support of the superintendent transportation update [Music] at this time i'd ask mr gibson to come to the front and his staff as well so good evening chairman burton members of the raytown school district board at this time mr gibson is going to provide us with an update as it pertains to our transportation in the state where we are as it relates to our bus drivers and service to our children this is as a
result of the transition that has transpired as a result of the transportation shortage in relation to bus drivers so mr gibson at this time would you please provide the information to our community and to our board thank you good evening president uh vice president and the rest of the members of the board and the raytown community again my name is terry gibson and i am the chief executive finance and operations officer here to present an update on the transportation operations of the district uh before i get started i'd like to go on record as as thanking the members of our transportation team our bus drivers our routers our office staff our director of transportation is here mr kevin easley and i appreciate everything they've done to get our students to and from school home safely
every day with three weeks in i'm very proud of the work that they've been able to accomplish yes [Applause] so uh let's see i i should have had a clicker up here let's see sorry [Laughter] okay so uh let's go ahead and jump right into it i have a slide here that just i just picked a few uh what i consider relevant national headlines just to give the problem that we're having with drivers so it it's um some national context this is not just a raytown problem it's something that is uh national in scope uh virtually every school district that i'm aware of is having to deal with this on some level and so uh moving on to the pay rate comparison i wanted to slip this in because when uh forward that's okay one
more yeah you go in the opposite direction there we go that's okay uh when dealing with uh a driver shortage one of the first things that we get to be uh that get to be a first concern is the pay rate and so what i wanted to make sure was that you had an understanding of where raytown sits among our neighboring districts and so i've highlighted uh our starting rate uh is the rate that started at the july first after board approval of a raise that put us right smack dab in the middle uh between many of the districts that that we compete against and i feel comfortable about where we stand uh in this regard i think um there can always be a conversation about increase but and that's not what i'm proposing at
this time but i do want everyone to get an understanding of where that is uh when dealing with this crisis so we are competitive um and i believe we're in a good place on to the next thing this slide while um next one this slide while it only has four data points is actually very important i think for a lot of folks they don't know the scope of the the um the operation and so if you looked at 2122 you'll see that we had 44 total routes 45 full-time drivers we were transporting over 4 900 students a day averaging 110 riders per driver with the shortage that occurred at the beginning of the school year at the end of last semester we began to lose drivers and unable to replace them and i think this
was the timing that where it occurred nationally and so we were doing everything we could i think the efforts to recruit have had been stepped up at the time and all through the summer landing us with the 34 drivers that we currently have on staff and so with that reality um it was the smartest decision to begin the end of the summer coming up with a plan for how we were going to adjust to this new reality to adjust to this new um lower capacity to handle servicing our students and so um so so the question became not if we had to make the change but it had to do with how we were going to make the make the change and so um i you know in discussions with my staff we came up
with some basic objectives one absolutely we wanted to transport as many students as our as our capacity could handle and so in designing the routes and coming up with a plan we wanted to make sure there was no stone left unturned no bus that we would have on the road that was not full to as much as we could to the highest degree that we could and i believe we accomplished that goal we there's a state law that says that we must provide transportation for everyone over three and a half miles from any school that's within the district so what we call the parent responsibility zone is the zone where we're not eligible or not required to pick up students it's it's the parents responsibility to provide transportation to our students the state law is
at three and a half the 2122 board or policy as a school district was at half a mile so we were in a position to accommodate that at the time but at this time with the need for the change i believe expansion of that responsibility zone became obvious as as the best uh course of action i think it was um because in addition to the goals i'm talking about we wanted to be as equitable with the plan i wanted to make sure that it was consistent it was something we could apply to every school within the district because i think it's really important as a district for us to make sure that parents can rely on the thought process that we put into some of these decisions and then ultimately to know that no matter
what school they attend they are subjected to the same rules and that we understand that when we had to make this decision please know that we took into consideration the burden we cared deeply about what it was going to do for the families who were caught in this situation it was very difficult it was not taken lightly that we knew that by essentially removing a thousand students from our system that there was going to be some pain uh experienced by those um who we had to decide we're not um we're not gonna be able to to get service from us and so um so just know that that's a very so while i'm looking at numbers and i'm looking at equity and i'm looking at um efficiency and and those sorts of things that sometimes
can come off cold i want to make sure that our families understood that we care deeply about their lives and what they have to do in order to get their students to our to our schools and so knowing that that there were a thousand students who uh who came from families that in some cases were limited in what they could what they could afford to do um they were in job situations that were um that were limiting um i believe district-wide uh i believe in this plan i think i think we did the right thing so going to the next slide um one of the things that was important to me was to bring the voice of the bus drivers into the conversation i think it's very important that we not only listen or think
about it from our own points of view but we also hear what the employees think about not only what it's like to work for us but then come up with some ideas for us to improve and so that's what this employee data represents for us so if you look at it the question what transportation department supports make you want to stay so this taps into um our efforts to retain the ones we have um and so what what gives me um hope uh some confidence that we're headed in the right direction is that that the top two answers with support from the directors support from the routers those two things are are high priorities for us this has a team focus and giving kevin easley some credit this is under his direction that he has
people who feel connected who feel part of a team they come to work dedicated and that dedication is is connected to their feeling that they are a part of something bigger than themselves if you go to the next employee service data or survey data you'll see the question what do you like about being a driver of raytown school this district of course the number one was opportunity for additional income uh that's human nature uh you you know you come to work to earn earn a living they like the pay and the additional opportunities for pay because we have extra trips we have trips that take students on field trips and you know outside of the norm and there's an appreciation for that but what also stuck out for me were those two uh second place
answers that talk about the fellow drivers the aides the support from the office staff and that taps right back into that um team support that not only i provide but but that that um our directors our members of that staff who um dispatch who communicate with with the drivers when they're out there and try to do everything they can to provide support and make sure that that they have what they need to execute that job that very difficult job um the best way that they can um another survey data point um what do you think would attract new drivers so this is this is really critical in my opinion um i can have all the ideas in the world but i love hearing this from the staff of course higher pay is on there um
and that's natural i think anybody you know i could say that you know anyone who who wants to be asked um what do you think you can you can do to attract more people is is uh pay more money and so um again that's that's a consideration i'm up for that conversation um and and we can we can do that um the other thing is bus aides on the buses that's something that we don't do district wide we have examples where we do have aids on certain buses and what that does is alleviate that need for those transportation or those drivers to have to handle um uh you know uh behavior and um whenever we're able to do that that's that driver has one less thing he has to focus on um in addition to
everything that comes along while driving and trying to be safe and trying to be timely and so that's something we can consider is is bumping up our number of aids that's something we can definitely talk about without question if we were to take that angle i believe we would also be a little more successful in attracting people when we could tell them they wouldn't have to deal with some of the behavior issues that could be a deterrent for a lot of folks who feel like you know they they could drive the bus and that the rate is good but just having to do all of that and still deal with um student behavior can be a deterrent and so in that question also they're asking for more advertising we we have definitely bumped up our
advertising but there's always room for improvement uh better equipment same thing there's always room um to do better in that area um another question what are districts doing that drivers can think they're that that drivers think great town districts should do again higher pay something second uh that's of note is that longevity referral bonus so that's something that we do not have that other districts do have so um that referral bonus is something that i'm in favor of um and and it's at the end of this it's part of my proposal i think it could turn um into some additional drivers just because of the level of incentive it also wouldn't cause any disruption that is potential with the higher rate of pay just because you'd be paying people who are already on staff um
an incentive um and and i think the results could be there so i'm optimistic about that one uh which is part of the reason i'm i'm um planning to propose that um another question is is uh the benefits what what do they want to see uh with the district um or or i'm sorry it makes what you want to stay that's very critical health insurance and wellness clinic parts of our package are there i'm proud of that um not every district offers that so i'm really i think that's that puts us at a at a competitive advantage um to continue that part of the package so then um the next slide you'll see uh just details of our package so of course that competitive salary talk we talked about earlier full benefits not everyone is
aware that we pay for all of their training costs there are no out-of-pocket costs for applicants and we pay their licensing fees and so um you know so when a driver gets to a place where they are comfortable applying for this job they don't have to worry about financial costs uh getting in the way of them becoming a driver for us so removing those barriers um that was huge i'm i'm really pleased about that element of it puts us in great position recruitment efforts uh so we have tuesday test drive and just to give a plug tomorrow at 11 a.m at our bus garage there will be a tuesday test drive it'll be our second one um kctv5 did an interview with uh my my director his nickname is hollywood he's uh he's been on
he's he's handled himself very well uh in front of that camera and i'm hopeful uh that we have good results um when that when that uh takes place tomorrow and uh the job postings uh while we are continuing to post we we just try to be more creative and use social media we're going to be doing community outreach outsourcing is something that we've done in the past i have to update you that we did have to detach from first student first student was unable to provide us any drivers and so our contract with them pretty much as null and void but that they're not the only outsourced company so we will explore what other outsource opportunities there are and again we're going to hit social media the next slide is the referral bonus this is
something we do not currently offer and so we're proposing to start a referral bonus which will provide existing staff a 500 incentive for referring a new driver there are a few stipulations but i think they're minor and this could help not only get our current staff involved in providing good names and referrals quality people tend to come from existing staff and we want to be able to incentivize that the right now and when i talk money a lot of times i'll talk about if it's not in the budget where it's going to come from really and truly because of the shortage those positions we are short have been built into the budget and so there will be no concern about me having to to ask for more money we would just simply use some of
the money that's been budgeted for those salaries to pay for some of the incentives um and then in conclusion um i just want to make uh a couple of points one is my staff has done a fantastic job uh this was not easy this was not they have they have dealt with um parents they have dealt with um people who have experienced some of that pain some of that um stress with the change and unfortunately our bus drivers have have had to deal with some some of that they've had some of those interactions um and i commend them for the way that they have handled that we will continue to work hard uh uh we being me and my staff who support the drivers we will continue to check in on them and make sure
that we retain who we have that's another um concern of mine is as we talk about how much effort i'm going to try to rally uh in recruitment is that we don't lose um connection to the people who have who who are there who are showing up every day um people can that can happen um you know you take your your eye off the ball with people who are who are producing for you uh when you're trying to make efforts bringing in new people and that's not going to happen under my watch we will continue to be creative i spend time with carl i spend time with others involved in recruitment we will continue to be creative and think outside the box we're competing with not only other school districts for drivers but we're competing
with the private sector and so sometimes um it does create situations where we just can't um sit on the um you know status quo we just can't just post on our website and just keep going you know just just keep keep working as usual so i promise you we will continue to be creative um and i'm optimistic um i feel optimistic i have reason to believe that that we will um begin to get some traction that the um through leadership and through some of the the character and commitment that i've seen from my staff we are going to attract new drivers i don't want to create false hope um so that message is really for the public to hang with us continue to make the adjustments that they need in order to get help us
get their children to school but that that my mind is that this is temporary and with the work that we've done and will continue to do uh if there will be some fruit uh uh as a result and hopefully um we will be able to add routes uh when those days come so that is the plan um and i'm open for questions thank you mr president thank you so much for the presentation and um i am encouraged i am encouraged not only because of the work you're currently doing that hollywood i mean mr easley are doing um but that close to 50 of the drivers responded to a survey yeah i think that that is incredible and is truly an indication of their commitment and how they are being respected um as part of the
raytown family so thank you so much and thank you for the presentation thank you mr president so you know great presentation thank you thank you and very calming so if i refer myself to a position do i get the 500 uh you got to ask miss plank to be the ref referral oh wait you have a wedding some questions probably for you and kevin can maybe answer something sure so on the creative part you know we have a lot of older drivers and part-time and not looking to make a career but we're forcing them through state law to pay into the retirement system oh yeah is there any creative way to get around that like could we try to come up with a way shelly i want you to listen in on this i mean
can we create some independent contractors or some a classification like that or something to get i mean because that'd be an immediate boost in their pay if we could get because a lot of them don't need or want to pay into that at this point in their lives well so here's uh my answer to that and that is what see that is part of the attraction part of what works for the outsource company so when i deal with the first student um you know the first selling point is just that is that we are able to pay um an hourly rate you know we come to a negotiation we talk about what the hourly rate um would come to for us and if positions first student to attract just those drivers who are just interested
in getting paid what they get paid if they're on retirement or they're in a stage where you know that retirement money is money out the window for them um or even if the health insurance is not that much of a benefit at that time it puts it handcuffs the district um because because of the law uh we're unable to do that so so option one is just to um put more effort into reconnecting with outsourced companies to make it possible for those drivers to get you know get access to those drivers um number two which i don't know is way out of box and that's for the district to create its own uh entity um that would service drivers you know that's the other that's but that i i don't know how that would work
but but it's we could classify these create a classification as independent contractors or something like that to get out of forcing them to pay that's something and i don't know i mean uh we we i see my attorney back there with a note pad and so maybe she maybe she had multiple hours yeah that's that's falling a little more based other than my answer just now that's falling much more uh in her lane if we could execute you know kind of oh i think that'd be a big one right there if we could do that oh yeah yeah and kevin could speak to that that he runs into that quite often that um ultimately their um net you know their net pay is influenced by those rules which makes it not quite as attractive so
a couple more just basic questions how many hours a week does a standard group driver get paid for 30 hours a week 30 hours and that's is that considered full time yes and and how many extra hours could they work if they wanted to what's the maximum extra hours so they can be assigned up to 10 regular hours a week to fill them up at 40 but with like field trips and other irregular hours um you know it could be 15. for example last friday night our great time high football team traveled to st joe i think they came home after midnight so they picked up seven or eight hours after their six hour shift that day so everything after 40 for them would be normal time and half of the regular hourly rate yes
yes some of the details we that we landed on the most of the incentives like that have it pay out at the beginning and then a payout as the driver stays so to talk numbers this evening they might get a hundred dollars and the person signs on and 400 after they stayed for six months for a total of five but most of those are paid out with some immediate benefit but but most of it after the person oh and also to add to that um while this is just a verbal kind of uh request for that it'll be official on the agenda for next month for your approval and we'll and we will iron out um some of those details um so i know it's been difficult to find as we talked bus drivers but
when you talk about bus aides do you think we would encounter the same um difficulty in in finding and hiring bus aides what are your put bus thoughts on every route we would eventually reach a point where that would be difficult and a lot of it is just the flux a lot of what i'm seeing this year that hasn't been in the past is bus drivers now the secretary of retail middle uh we have a bus driver who is sitting in the back of the room providing security for everyone so it's it's the movement that becomes possible within the district so they're not all leaving so you know bus aide might decide to work in a classroom so we can always strive to get full but i think it'd be very difficult to ever accomplish
uh i believe bus age of 15.50 know this sort of doesn't have anything to do with the bus transportation but i also want to come in uh i've been saying a lot well we know it's a lot more car riders and uh i just want to commend the staff from what i've seen at several schools especially give a shout out to fleetridge for i've been seeing continuous improvement and everybody's not always happy in those lines but the staff has always been happy there's been a couple times i was like man how they gonna respond to that and man it was they still wave and give i i really appreciate and it's getting every day better and better yes to add and to add to that there was uh to to uh dr martin knox's credit
she deployed the entire senior leadership team to every school over that first week and in doing that i don't know if this was directly to jump in on car rider because we knew car writer situation was going to be impacted by this move but what ended up happening is it allowed us to witness um you know the trouble that that schools were experiencing we were able to support uh principles in their design of their drop off and pick up situations you know so we did a lot more of that than i i think we probably would have ever done uh without that physical presence and so yes commending the pre the principles they are now experts in uh traffic traffic uh they should be civil engineers uh now uh in how they have designed um
smooth uh drop off and pick up operations as a result of this um this move i ain't going to go that far it took me six years to get that five-year degree [Laughter] i will say i the second day of school i drove class past spring valley and and you did not wave to me i was rather sad no no but the security guard did so that was all good right so so the event goes to one o'clock tomorrow eleven to one i'm gonna try and come by if i don't forget yep well if dr penelope can drive a bus i can too so well i was there too so you know i actually drove before she [Laughter] i wasn't as cute but i was there yeah i know all right thank you all right
thank you so as we transition to 8.2 um i just want to again reiterate some of the things that have been shared here mr gibson thank you thank your team mr easley uh and the other routes uh writing its assistants and attendants and the drivers and our principals assistant principals our parents but also our students because i think during this transition we've all been giving one another grace and so that's most important and so while we have this conversation about transportation i'm encouraging each one of you sitting in the audience and those who are viewing uh on a live stream to encourage someone to come and drive a bus for us every time we hire a bus driver it allows us to add another route at another stop and it is important that when we
get our children to and from school safely but making sure they are on time and making sure they're there every single day um it is not a matter that we are taking lightly uh the team and i got into my vehicle a couple of weeks ago or a couple days ago and we actually drove the routes we drove the routes based on feedback that we received from many of our community members that said my child can't walk this area as a result mr easley went to his desk and he made some adjustments and added another stop every time we get a driver allows us to add another stop and the way we're able to add those stops is to prioritize the unsafe conditions by which some of our children have to walk in so please
understand we know the complexities that this has caused but understand we work every single day all day to do what's best and what's right for our children because that's what they deserve so while we are trying to problem solve please make sure the next time someone wants to go to walmart cvs go into engineering we need bus drivers and so i encourage you to send them our way um and as they were making light of the fact that i sat behind the wheel of a bus i will do whatever it takes but i was told we're going to find drivers and i'm not going to have to do that but understand i'm standing ready to do so and i think there's some other reason why they don't want me to drive but we're not going
to talk about that tonight so moving to 8.2 mr you said would you please uh join us at the mic uh with uh your presenters as we uh provide an update on our bond good evening everybody um good to see you after not being there this last month uh i have to report that all of our bond projects are complete if you guys get a chance to go around and look at some of the great things we've done raytown high school i did some facts rooms there new corridor flooring central middle school some abandoned choir renovations new corridor flooring southwood corridor flooring epoxy lots of lots of good things going on for our kids the only thing we're lacking is there's a couple um just weird components on some some one-off doors so we have
those safe and secure that's where we can use them but we're waiting on hardware they'll eventually be as soon as we get it we'll get it taken care of um but other than that we're done for this year we'll be meeting with emmy with principals tomorrow uh elementary and secondary principles tomorrow i'll take over a few things and we'll send out media invites to them for the week of the 19th and i'll be going through and reviewing with those buildings uh what what were is it our scope of work reviewing we've had some administration changes in those buildings so make sure we'll go through with what we've had planned uh still fits the need of the billing and the students have any questions no question but uh just wanted to let you know appreciated the
work that you did on the floor south high to fix the issue that we had over there absolutely i'll let you know about it then so i wanted to let you know about the good good part of it now so i appreciate that looks great that's great quick question when will the central middle um cafeteria be ready to use so that's a great that's a great question so um we're ahead of schedule right now on it's completely i visited there today before uh this media anticipation questions on that so the roof is in we're driving we have windows they're coming doors are coming um there's some complexity and tying the hva system in the hvac system in the existing building so we have to shut the entire hvac system down our units are supposed to
arrive on november 5th or 6th um that is that's what we're being told now uh usually when it gets a couple days out we'll get an email saying they pushed once we get those we'll go ahead and pipe everything in depending on the weather and what guarantees i can get from our subcontractors on tying that system in i am hesitant to go through if the weather is super super cold we can't we don't have a choice we can't do it then it'll be summer it'll be the summer when we actually finish if we get a mild winter and our contractors guarantee me with with with a lot of confidence that we can get that done over christmas break and we'll try and do it over christmas break uh but there's a good chance uh it'll
be next summer any other questions all right if anybody wants to go look at things just shoot me an email or next time get you around [Music] and now we're moving to 8.3 under the report of the superintendent for our student representatives report and so will our amazing students from raytown school district please take the podium uh and share with us your report uh hey y'all good evening my name is toshi hokuna and i am the executive secretary of rayton high school student council um so something that i just want to start this off with is that what we're planning to do as an exec board is have our president our vice president our secretary and our treasurer here um i don't know if you saw previously but jayla robinson our treasurer was here but
she had to leave due to some unforeseen problems but we're expecting for next month to have everyone here oh sorry i am really excited to talk to y'all because i i'm this is my first board meeting so at first i'm just gonna go over some things that we've done with our stuco at raytown high school and then also talk about some things that i personally would love to see implemented um at raytown so over the past few weeks our student council has been extremely busy so we started off our year planning out the freshman orientation over the summer and ensuring that we planned out all of our events to the fullest extent so basically what that freshman orientation looked like was us having student council members in each advisory so we had two or more
members and they would go to the advisories with the students and basically tell them some information that they wouldn't be able to get out of teachers like you know i mean let's be honest here so that basically may mean like what clubs they should join what activities they should join what information they should know beforehand um and you know just stuff that is from a student's perspective because youth voice is extremely important and it's important that we're allowing our student council members to consistently utilize their youth voice so then after they went to those advisories they then went to an assembly that was emceed by me and our executive vice president ali braley um so that was super fun it was kind of us just teaching them traditions of raytown high school like the alma
mater um and also just like letting them know some cheers like get those cards and again raytown versus race out game coming up very soon so i'm super excited about that and we will discuss that moving forward so our council has also had a very successful retreat where we talked leadership and got to know each other better as a council so basically we kind of just want to make sure that moving forward within student council that we're teaching people how to be leaders it's really important that we as the next leaders of like literally the future because at some point it's going to be a sin up here um so it's important that we're teaching them how to successfully do that and also how to like handle conflicts and other things like that so some
of the games that we played at our retreat while it was mostly as a social event it also kind of went into that so we did some games where you had to basically trust the next person to like not um to not drop the hula hoop or to make shapes without being able to see each other with a rope so stuff like that though it may seem minuscule it does end up teaching you those skills that are necessary to be a good leader um moving forwards what else do we do so we have completed a bunch of events within these past three weeks i'm super excited to discuss those we had a welcome back assembly which was a fight between the fall sports to decide who's best so we had raytown girls golf from cross
country soccer football and a bunch of other sports also participate in that we also after that we kind of surveyed around to figure out did students like this assembly what do they want to see in the future because it is a student council and it's not just based off of our own personal opinion and what we want to see moving forward so after that we realized what we need to fix and for upcoming pep rally this friday we have some really fun things planned and our assembly committee has been working really hard to make sure that that's going to look great so we've also had multiple football and volleyball games with successful themes and we are now beginning our spirit week for raytown versus race out so just going over some themes that we've had
recently at the st joe game which we also i would like to say had a very good turnout for an hour and 50 minute drive um the theme was frat night so that was kind of like you know those snap back hats big shirts jerseys stuff like that um we've also had a cowboy theme which was actually really fun and up for our first home game we had a construction theme which was really cute because we had everyone dress up in construction vests and construction hats and like you don't realize how far people will go to adhere to a theme so it was really fun to watch that and just see that we do have that spirit because again these past two years have been extremely hard for our student council so it's really important
that we're you know keeping that spirit up within student code so within the school so moving forward to the raytown versus raytown south football game so we have a spirit week planned out and obviously since it's the week of we've already been participating in that so today was white lie day so essentially we had students write a lie about themselves that is extremely obvious i personally am very sarcastic so on my shirt i wrote i am never sarcastic um we had students write jokes about themselves we had coach tay who obviously coached cheerleading for a very long time right i'm quitting cheer or something of that nature so you know it's really important to have teachers participate in that also and we also got to see a really good student turnout and it was really
great seeing people like show that they care about the school especially with spirit weeks which is something that we usually don't see that big of a turnout in so tuesday is blast of the past so 90s 80s whatever you want to dress up in wednesday it's mean girls so students dress up in pink outfits so i'm really excited about that i do have my outfit picked out um and then thursday is senior citizen so they're going to dress up like senior citizens and then and then on friday we have surfers versus bikers which is basically based on team beach movie um which is a really old disney movie but was apparently really important to our generation so that's what we're gonna have out there and that's also going to be the theme for the raytown
versus ray south games so we'll have students dressed up as surfers and bikers or whatever you want to be um and then after this week you can just anticipate perspiration for the homecoming which is october 8th so in terms of spirit week we're doing a tailgate we're also doing a float contest and obviously the illustrious homecoming game and dance so yeah that's basically what our student council has been working on and planning and we just want to make sure make sure that this year is one of the best years and that we're passing down that legacy to the next generation thank you thank you [Applause] well that was great appreciate that it makes me want to go back to school almost i can see why they picked you to be the spokesperson wow that was
a great report and yeah that school spirit is important so just everything you're doing is really it really is neat exciting i want to ask you a favor though what that report and something for in the future uh along with that because we like hearing all that as the student representatives if if you're willing and able we want you to also take a look at our agenda for these meetings and if you see anything on there that you think is you want to comment on or something that we're taking action on that's going to affect students in some way i want you to let us know about that because if we want to get your input on some of the things that we might be doing that effect affect you oh for sure i have
lots of thoughts so just take a look our agenda ahead of the meetings and see what you think thank you yeah of course i think we'll be uh probably coordinating with uh dr martin knox about just uh some of the things we would like for you to report on um in regards to like i said the agenda or even uh getting with us as far as what is on the agenda and uh and just having uh an opportunity to comment on that thing from like you said from a student perspective so we're definitely looking forward to it i greatly appreciate your report today so yeah that's probably one of my dreams i think that raytown has a lot of potential in terms of youth voice um just looking at the way that our student council
has like grown this year like we have a bunch of people that have like i personally would never expect to be in stuco who are like super into it and super into the concept of being a leader so i think it's really important that like i'm sorry that like i guess adults care about what we have to say um especially in a place like raytown where literally all the decisions that you make impact us because i know students who have something to say every time the intercom comes on with some new announcements so i'd love to relay that back to y'all and i'd love to like um have other people who i know have really great voices come up here and talk to y'all too okay and if you need any uh help with the
senior citizen retired mr landers mr president can we look at alert like alerting them when it's been published when the we do okay okay thank you all right great thank you thanks so i have uh did you know [Music] oh yeah there's representatives oh i i was looking at them and they were hiding every time i looked they ducked come on jasmine you're trying to get me i keep telling you you change your glasses you change your head i'm sorry we have seats for you guys over there okay so thank you thank you guys hello hello kiana barnes i am the vice president of student council at raytown south and i'm brielle ashley i am the treasurer of student council so far we've worked on our unity wall it's bringing all of our people together
from different races different cultures and we're working on that monday through wednesday this week we've dedicated a wall in our cafeteria for it and it's a lot of words that describe who we are as students and what we believe in some of those things are like strong lgbtq lgbtq plus just those uplifting words that we use to describe ourselves and our students in the building so when everyone walks in the door they feel like raytown south is home so far with that we've got pretty much a lot done today our student council consists of 12 members and all of them are from different grades and they have different positions in our student council this year we downsized so we could focus on who we can see to make change for the future since a lot
of us last year were seniors it's about four of us and a lot of our new members are lower class men because they're going to be the ones to take over the school after us and we want to hear from them and what we can do to help them throughout the rest of their high school career i think our main goal of having those younger classmen join our student council is because we are leaving soon and we want to leave them with something that they can change and something that they can put their finger on so i would say the theme of our student council this year is just a unity everyone to be included because we've been so misplaced with the last few years during covet this is finally like a semi-normal year for
us so we want to take advantage of it we're also working on our homecoming having that being september 24th the theme was carnival because who doesn't love fun another way to bring people together we have ordered our decorations and got everything in place and we're very excited for that because it's led by us again and we get our student input on what they like to see what they want to be there what they want to have there majority of it all is just about making sure that our students and staff have fun and they they can show a different side of themselves outside of school we're planning ways to include everyone because we do have a new principal and he's making all the changes that we need in order to have it and he's a
super cool fan and we're thankful for him this year he's letting our deals be known he comes to our class and he's always there for us to support us and we appreciate him for that and he also has a motorcycle really cool motorcycle any questions one quick question so we need this wall of encouragement um you're writing on the walls josh are you good with them using permanent markers when they write these words on the wall yeah okay okay good and so you guys heard the same thing i was talking to her about giving us a report maybe also on our margin times great good job too on your report thank you thank you guys for having us here today we appreciate it you're welcome may i just add uh to all the ladies the
representatives this evening i'm so proud of you uh and just let the community on the board know um because student voice is so important to me i also meet with them uh prior to them coming to the board meeting we had our first meeting back in july yes something like that and they hold me accountable uh even to the point where i received emails uh telling me it's time uh so thank you thank you for your voice and thank you for your professionalism and your advocacy on behalf of all of your students um body thank you thank you for taking the time to listen to us mr president i just want to say this with our representatives this is one of my favorite parts of being on the board and a part i'm really excited
about and so thank you guys um good evening okay did you know the spring 2022 barnes mcdonald challenge champions recently visited the cosmosphere in hutchison kansas where they explored scientific concepts of rockets physics engineering and outer space this unique experience was made possible by their first place victory which earned the program a 50 000 grant to support these experiences for students in the 22-23 school year the challenge team has plans to use the grant money in several ways that continue to benefit students and there on your sheet you can see some of the fun photos of the students at the cosmosphere and they had a great time and dr martin knox and dr moore were there to send them off as well also the district is excited to be the recipient of a 25 000
grant award from the kauffman foundation to participate in the 2223 equity in schools cohort the district will be eligible for an additional 350 000 grant from kauffman for the next two years to implement the cultural competency plans and initiatives so very exciting news and congratulations there are a few exciting events coming up one of which we talked about the game on friday but also the multicultural back to school night on september 20th at 6 15 at fleet ridge and this event is hosted each year with the intention of connecting district families with resources and with each other other upcoming events that you will see there on your did you know sheep raytown high school fall play and the 5k sponsored by our fabulous foundation and all those details are there on did you know thank
you you have on there um battle of the towns rhs versus raytown yes that's right thanks for helping me to remember so that is a staff basketball game raytown versus raytown south so i believe it is at raytown south gym and i can get uh the flyer information to you all so you have it right now sign ups are going on for staff to sign up for their side i don't think there's tryouts so anybody can play i turned on my microphone that would be a noise sign up prior to the meeting and it has to be one of the items that's on the agenda if anybody uh wants to be sure that there's a topic that will be on the agenda you can contact the administrative office beforehand to make sure that we get
those items on the agenda mr president how far in advance do they need to reach out to the administration i'd say at least five days before before we uh so before we publish the agenda next we have uh board committee reports finance committee mr president first i'll say i'll move to accept the june 15 2022 finance committee meeting minutes as presented second motion made second so we don't really have a report tonight because we didn't me we met last month and that's why we're approving these minutes tonight but all mr gibson do you have anything you want to add from finance tonight though uh just a reminder about the uh uh so i would encourage everybody to read those finance committee meeting minutes and any any documents that were sent out with previous emails thank
you next item we'll have is uh terminating oh i'm in a hurry anyway let's take a vote all right motion carries next we'll have uh the agenda terminate standing committees mr president i move that the board of education terminate the following standing committee's number one benefits and number two technology second motion and second any discussions we just clarify why why we're if we're not we're not not looking at these things yeah we're not terminating benefits with this but or technology um what the logic behind what we're doing uh currently with our standing committees the benefits in the technology committee we feel like that as the board we can receive that information uh from the administration uh from the technology department and uh when it comes to benefits from the hr uh those are definitely uh
topics and and and issues that they have the expertise and probably we don't so it's just uh better for us way to operate that we all get that information at the same time uh will still be uh decisions made in public and everything like that and so also we're adding as you'll see in the next topic we're adding two committees and uh each board member now is uh we're restructuring our our committees to where each board member will be a chairman of a committee and uh be given a report on that uh monthly and so we think it'd just be more efficient for us to operate that way any other comment discussions next topic create new standing committees mr president i move that the board of education creates the following standing committees capital improvement culture
and climate second motion made in second any discussion i guess for the same reason i'll explain the thought behind capital improvement we just want to be able to be more uh transparent when it comes to capital improvements and and in the direction that we're looking we want to make sure that the board is properly informed uh we were doing a lot of things in different committees uh some of our studies and some of our reports were coming out of other other committees such as capital improvements we want to isolate that to be able to have discussions around it uh and from from concept conceptual uh ideas to all the way to construction and also looking at our budget and things like that and so that's for the capital improvement and then one of the other
thing is our the culture and climate let me go back capital improvements committee uh ms donald peyton has agreed to be the chairman of that committee and so uh and then uh culture and climate miss beth flank is the chairman of that committee and uh what's that about is uh basically looking at ways to improve our culture and climate isolating that to help retain our families and our staff and just the way that we uh we just want to communicate uh better in that way and also isolate the things that we think that are the most important issues that we're dealing with as as a as a district so we decided to add those two uh committees any other discussion motion carries move on to new business uh curriculum instruction department goals mr president i
move that the board of education approved the curriculum and instruction goals as presented most remaining second ready for you thank you all right thank you president burton members of the board good evening so i've had the opportunity to bring back our curriculum and instruction goals that we brought to the board back in july i was about a week and a half into my new job and certainly appreciated the opportunity to have some additional discussion with my team regarding the direction of our curriculum and instruction goals for the 22-23 school year the goals that are are listed and and explained in in detail really honor the work of the curriculum and instruction department for the last several years there has been a significant investment by the district to support our staff in relation to these goals
and so we really want to continue that work this year fine-tune some of our efforts but really focus on the ways in which we can support our schools to improve outcomes for students so the first graph at the top that really serves as the graphic organizer for the rest of the information talks a little bit about how goals can be implemented with success and you'll notice that vision skills incentives resources and an action plan all need to be present in order for goals to experience success so while i won't read all of this text to the board tonight i wanted to let you know that i appreciate the opinions of my team as we have further developed these goals to really target how we will use our data review teams how we we will use
the instructional strategies around mathematical reasoning non-fiction reading argumentative writing and engagement strategies to improve outcomes for our students i will mention that our data review teams i believe really represent the vehicle for school improvement we appreciate the opportunity to have our teachers collaborating each week so we thank the board for that opportunity to have that time on wednesdays for our teacher teams to come together to really focus around best instructional practices and how we can improve outcomes for students we are mindful that we need to measure our growth over time so there there are some measures in place that we have established uh for the instructional strategies that are listed through our data review teams we have developed extensive pick lists that we will utilize with our data review teams this year so that our
teachers are making decisions about instruction that are really based on best practice the one addition that we've made to our cni goals this year is a goal specifically around trauma smart the district has made an investment to improve the way in which our staff can respond to students that are in trauma and so in partnership with the crittenden children's center we are training our staff this year around trauma smart strategies so that we can better respond to our students who are in crisis i'll also mention that a goal that we have removed from the cni list is the the c and i go specifically around cultural competency and for for the part of the reason why it was explained with the grant under dr moore's leadership through a grant with the kauffman foundation we are
really taking a close look at our practices around equity in the district diversity equity and inclusion and so on the basis of that audit we will be working with our district cultural competency committee and really developing a more comprehensive goal that doesn't just impact cni but also impacts all aspects of our organization and so that's the reason why we have not identified cultural competency cultural competency specifically within cni because that will be a goal that is really more pervasive of all aspects of our organization i would love to entertain any questions the board might have about the cni and again we appreciate the opportunity to bring this information to you tonight mr president um so i just had two quick questions um the teacher team meetings that you talked about on wednesdays are those um
at the individual school level or is that district like coming together as a district what does that look like yeah so there are uh varying levels of of um meetings that are district-wide some that are building specific some involve district training so there's a wednesday schedule that is developed in the spring prior to the next year that really outlines what audiences get together on which wednesdays so it's a it's a mix of building data review teams coming together there's also departmental district-wide meetings that happen during that time and then also some very unique trauma smart training for each of our sites so it is a mix of of all those okay one more question um i know parents are some parents might be hearing the trauma smart like this program um the first time where
can our our parent are our parents getting literature about um trauma smart or where can they go to get um more information on what that entails so the trauma smart training right now uh is is exclusive to the adults in the organization uh isn't necessarily an expectation that there is direct connection to students yet we're really trying to build the efficacy of our adults but of course we'd be happy to provide any additional information i can work with mrs womble to put together a space on our website or also a communication that we could share with families just about how we talk about our benchmarks and our the nwea are we giving teachers enough support and being able to talk about those results of the student's assessment that way we are faithfully continuously looking at
those benchmarks and being able to interpret that to our parents accurately or are they getting like training and support and being able to interpret those types of results because i know that can be a lot of data yes on those systems yeah so so nwa is new for us this year uh we do have some communications we'll be sharing with parents prior to parent-teacher conferences in october in terms of training for staff we did have our initial training for those that were administering the benchmark back at the end of august we have training regarding interpreting our test results after our fall window that's actually happening this week so we're trying to provide timely training for our staff so that they can use the information as soon as it's available to begin making decisions for instructionally
for their students as a result of the data they're receiving from nwea so that is happening this one of my things week if somebody doesn't understand what the root story is about that type of language just making it make sense to just um um without all that the educational language sure yeah we definitely want to make sure we talked about that today in our curriculum and professional learning committee um that we want to prepare our families to understand the reports that we'll be sharing with them during parent-teacher conferences so there will be some communication being shared with families in advance of that and also will spell out what some of those uh key acronyms mean to help our families be able to interpret their reports like what does nwa mean so they missed that one
plus educational assessment and then another one so um what are we looking at in the move toward like proficiency skills things like across the planet could be yeah because i know we have proficiency skills for different assessments but just across the board uh there's been a lot of discussion about grade books moving to those proficiency standards-based type skills so that those truly reflect like where it actually is and you're looking at standard as opposed to here's just this brain you know it should be up to interpretation depending on if this this person's classroom or that person's classroom versus a standard proficiency still yeah so i think there there definitely have been some discussions historically in raytown around standards-based grading the use of proficiency scales although it really hasn't ever bubbled up to i would say
the level of a strategic plan initiative there's a lot of institutional effort that has to goes along with trent transitioning into a standards-based grading environment that's definitely a topic that we want to explore during our strategic planning process this year we want to gather input from our educators we want to gather input from what the research is telling us as best practice wherever we land with standards-based grading it certainly will be a multi-year rollout if and when that is determined to be a priority of the strategic plan of our district there the work that's happening now is really focused around collaboration around what does our curriculum identify as our highest priority standards based on the show me standards from the state and how does that align with high-stakes testing that we see at the end
of the year and also getting our kids ready for that next grade level or their career and life aspirations so um proficiency scales standards-based grading those are all buzzwords that we have you know have kind of volleyed back and forth in education for several years there is evidence and research that suggests that it is a best practice however what will be really important is making sure that our staff have the right professional development and that we have we give our staff the amount of time needed to make a change if we decide to go in that direction from the goals that we established through the next strategic plan mr president thank you so much and you've answered um some of my questions thank you um natalie on the data review teams the plan that we
have before us there are conditions for successful implementation and i am not sure what it means for drt teams to move from x to 3.0 by may 2023 and you talked a little bit about this but of course it is of interest to us about how our students will do on testing how we will look within msipmsip can you elaborate a little bit on that sure thank you great question so in terms of when we talk about data review teams moving from x to a 3.0 average the x really is a number that we have yet to determine because our teams have yet to establish a current reality of collaboration down under the skills uh category it outlines specifically what the 3.0 average represents is a mostly effective practice the categories we're going to ask
our teams to reflect on are how they use norms data set goals use instructional strategies have success criteria for students and are prepared to take next steps after they meet so our teams are going to provide for us what they believe to be the current state of their collaboration here in the next month or so that number that average will represent the x and then we will hope to move our teams to at least mostly effective which is that that three score within with regards to those criteria that that are listed there so we want to wherever we start the year we want to get all of our teams to be at least as they reflect themselves to be mostly effective in their collaboration practices so that's our our goal would be to fill in
the blank for that x once we've asked all of our teams to self-rate their collaborative practices here in the next several weeks but what is going to make someone develop an x that will cause them to work harder than they may otherwise yeah well one of the things that we're going to ask our teams to do is really be take an honest assessment of what what their current reality is and if you under the action plan there's a link to the collaborative team rubric that really spells out in more detail what each of those areas are and whether or not their teams are truly representing that score so if a team rates themselves to be a four with regards to using norms then it has to be clear in the artifacts that they have those
roles clearly identified like a facilitator or recorder or reporter a time keeper that they have norms that they reference at the beginning of each meeting so that's just an example of we would hope that they would have the evidence to support them rating themselves in those higher categories because ultimately what we hope is that we want to help our teams improve their performance so that they can help students be more successful so we are relying on our teachers to be to take an honest look at their collaborative practices if the number appears to be higher than three to begin then of course we can move that that 3.0 to a higher number to represent some level of growth between the beginning of the year and the end of the year and i have every confidence
that they will i just want to make sure that our parents understand that we have high standards and that we will implement those high standards as we exceed and go higher than expectation so that really was i have no doubt whatsoever in our staff i don't either and i think even if that growth is you know even if we come in at a 2.8 overall we can adjust that goal to see you know to challenge our staff to demonstrate even more growth than a 3.0 thank you you're welcome mr president i'm just going to remind the board or let them know because it was a late edition on the committee uh agendas on esb there is a document that dr griner put on there with a link to a lot more cni information so and
did you you sent a shared drive to curriculum professional development did you send that to everybody just the members of of the committee but i'm happy to share that with you [Music] anymore all right and i need to stand corrected my brain was on assessment and it's northwest evaluation association it is about the assessment of math so i just needed to correct myself so second vote in the moment we've all been waiting for the design fees for upcoming bond so um as you guys know we've been moving forward with process duke and novak have rain another bond issue in april uh part of preparation of doing that is getting uh designs and drawings ready uh if we go back to a real quick history lesson in 2019 we had a wall at south high fail
we went through reconstructed that wall to the tune of about a million dollars after doing that we were going through and observing things we started seeing the west walls start cracking as well so we put some strain gauges in there to monitor that unfortunately what we found is there was movement in that wall as well uh we went in this a temporary solution it has a five-year fix to it uh that five-year fix will come due in in december of 2024. uh that has kind of pushed us into looking at look at what we need to do for a more permanent solution because uh that um that building will the our textbook delay saying that billion they don't guarantee the this um the the structure past december of 2024 with the repair so we it
currently made on it um we already have when we started that whole process we went ahead and have had all of our drawings done so we have this the pac the performing arts center at south high already drawn we have the gym south high already drawn uh in the event that we had something happen between now and then that we weren't waiting without a pac for a year we were already shovel ready um so that that part has already been done uh if you see in the proposal there's a fee there to go back through dust those blueprints off run them through code review again and see where we're at to make sure they're good the second part of that is going through with an auxiliary gym at raytown high school one of the recurring
factors when we have discussions about um what do we want great time to look like what do we want to do and one of the things i get a lot of questions leslie summer have was liberty have what do other schools have uh districts of our size typically have two gyms in all their buildings they can host tournaments basketball tournaments viable tournaments etc uh so the design fees that i'm coming forth with tonight would be for an auxiliary raytown high uh that would be located location to be determined it would be somewhere along 61st street uh there where the student parking lot is uh so those are the design fees that we propose this evening uh and to go to move forward where uh when we do pass this bond that we're shovel ready to
do that what questions do we have should i make a motion mr president i mean that the board of education approved allison miller to review south high school pac auxiliary gym and design braytown high school auxiliary gym at a cost of 569 759 dollars [Music] um mr president i do want to make sure we add if i don't know how to make a motion but add the uh term fees in the motion because this is the cost of the fees is it not correct so i move to amend the motion okay to yeah it was it was all part of all was all one thing's all one they designed it all at the same time so recount high we went through into the presentation with new kirk and novak uh they went in did their
whole spiel we went through that we went through all that as well correct correct that's what i'm asking you yes sir but as far as i guess this is the first time what was the reason behind the equity in between the two between the north side and the south side it was because we're with the south high project we have to create a new gym there which we'll leave them with two and one right now so the equity issue was to build a new one at raytown correct heist certainly has an auxiliary gym now it has no bleachers no it's basically just a space it's it's a larger room it doesn't form the function of an auxiliary gym so how does that who initiated that idea we did with you with you guys in part
we made these presentations that you sat through uh and then and then we moved forward with that this was all part of newport novak's when we went through and explained everything i mean i know there have been discussions i'm not even saying i'm just i'm more so asking for to make sure that everybody i that's been the plan since day one that we brought this to but i think more specifically i mean just specifically talking about i think dr markley and steve sheldon talked about some of those things when we started talking about the big project of south and then we started talking about well we can't do without a bond issue and then we also decide well if we're doing that project that's going to make things not equitable at raytown so we want
to pass a bond issue we need to put something in there for raytown that makes the two schools we went into years ago 2020 and it was just an emergency situation in case so say that west wall that we went to the repairs to completely collapsed the plan was to have all that ready to go because we talked about lease purchase we talked about uh if we had excess bond funds we talked about lots of different funding mechanisms there uh and then once we got through things and realized that when we looked to fix that piece by piece by piece we were going to get an inferior product with a high price tag so that's when the decision was made that we should go after another bond to be able to do that once those
conversations started so the original design fees of south high were in place in the event that we had something that would that would render that facility um unable to be used we wouldn't be seeing the year waiting for design fees so i'm saying at the moment we decided so all those considerations that you just gave me was prior to us deciding to do uh dr larry's gender raytown high i'm asking when did we start when did that become an idea that probably two years ago a year and a half ago but it was absolutely it was after that right but if i could clarify you kind of alluded to it we thought at the beginning that we could probably build the pac without doing a bond issue then we came to the realization we're not
going to be able to deal with it out of bond issue that's where the discussion started that we're going to include a project at raytown at the same time okay so hopefully i remember my question then uh we decided to do one school because it needed it and we're doing the other school because of equity is that it yes yeah so it's an assumption being made here tonight that we did decided apparently because it's before us now so even though we may not have done it but somebody has made that decision did you decide no i did not we didn't decide it we were right we didn't we're deciding why is it before us then because if we didn't decide it why is it before this will be the formal decision because we're deciding to
spend money well when did we make the decision to do it to bring it to this stage well we we asked them to we we did ask them to to go back and bring us this proposal i don't know it's been several months and it's stephen now and talked extensively about it i guess um i bring it up because i don't think all of us understood that that's what we were deciding and not that i'm against it i don't think all of us knew that that might be what we were deciding to bring forward because of equity when i say when was it initiated i was surprised and it was months ago it was a long time but i just want to make sure that as we're deciding this tonight that we know where it
is for the reason for it and what and why it's coming out the process that we can sure about my concern is that we've seen uh demographic studies we've seen all kinds of things and i understand that those are not the same monies and but to be able to go out to our cousin yeah at this time and ask for something of that magnitude and everybody understands this just an initiation of a project so we do something that at race album we do something at raytown automatically in general that's been our practice and we should use the word equitable and not equity in this situation we're trying to create equitable facilities all right like i said i just want to make sure that we understand that we're addressing all our problems we're having priorities and
that we're deciding to be equitable in this situation from a sure that's why i brought that back to the very beginning if you have suggestions so mr president my concern is that are we are we sending a message to the public the reason why we are doing a certain thing is and he uh rick says equitable but i think that we're sending a bad message we are dealing with several factors that could affect the district overall and we're looking to build a not necessary i'm i'm i'm not uh i'm not like alonzo who's uh who is an engineer but i'm just speaking from plain person if i looked at this you want to build something for and i'm going to put it in my language something for beauty and uh you're suffering from some things
in the district that very well affect the overall district as a whole i would not be a very supportive person of a bond for that purpose that's why you guys get to vote on i bring the information to you we can have discussion about it and we can move forward or not move forward it's up to you guys i think one of the things to to think about uh when we go through this this decision does happen tonight i brought it in september you know we really do need to have decision in october uh so if we need more time to think about we could bring them back in october uh one of the things we're going to think about is what are we going to do at south high uh if we do in
fact um don't do anything uh and then we're looking at not having a pac in southampton so that's that's the the flip side of that just to make sure everybody's a 100 aware of what that looks like and my question it wasn't necessarily i mean we already went through the process of deciding to do it to address that situation and uh and i will say that i am supportive for the oculus rift at raytown high um i am uh i just wanted to be those things to be stated because there's even big comments from the public that we've had about building things instead of investing in people and uh and so i want to make sure that the public knows that um we're not we're not sacrificing one of the others and things like that
but also we need to make sure we bring these things forward in a manner where everybody has that understanding and so um and that's the reason for it to make sure that i that i am supportive of those i just mr president um i just kind of want to address i've i've spent a lot of time up at raytown high and i will say i agree with you that this auxiliary gym is is not do we want it to look nice if we do it yes but it is it is a need for the space it the the current gym that space could be well used um in even in the fine arts department down there if they had another space for um for practices and to be able to do tournaments and stuff like
that so i am in full support of this auxiliary gym um on an on a need base just like i see the need at the cell adds outplay having worked at radon high school for many years in that area down there uh and trying to just schedule all the activities that you've got to go with you've got wrestling you've got boys basketball you've got girls basketball you've got 9th grade basketball you've got a b and c teams and trying to do that with one gym as was stated the auxiliary gym that area they got down there is just big enough for one batting cage for baseball to use and that's really honestly about all it is you can put a volleyball net across it but then you don't have anything on the sides for somebody
running out of bounds without hitting the wall and it is something that's needed as miss planck said um and it's um it's for equity or whatever but it is it is a facility that's needed and will be used and put to good use uh with all the things uh that's going on you've got that and then you've got the plays going on you've got musicals going on the same night um it's needed yes anyone else [Music] well um before we vote i'll just say that i i look forward to uh some of the things uh the issues that we've been talking about outside of capitol improvements to be uh addressed uh even though they have nothing to do with the same things but i i think that would be uh quite uh comforting and uh
