Uh we have all of our teachers now using learning targets in the classroom. They're tied to those learning standards. last professional development on February 9th. Spent the day working on success criteria tie those standards back to the classroom and see master each standard. Hopefully after this board we will have our roster down hopefully next year as long as we take all of our teachers in March. attendance. Last year after we had board meeting, I requested you guys to our attendance policy prior to co our very strong this year. We had a few kids that reached that 10 days and all two of the cases
kids made up to five hours to make up. So they did not get a grade reduction add last year. We had 74 in 2023, 74 out of 114. AP points last year highlight that we had some teachers scores last year scores attendance case by case basis. We also were able to board over 40 middle school and high school students after the first semester with perfect attendance. Get their pizzas and give them pizza for lunch. So we're able to give kids high school pretty amazing by our kids. So, I just wanted to out there for our teachers that have been working extremely hard. Hopefully, we'll continue next couple months even higher. very impressive for our district around us. So, it's really important everybody how great you are. Um, February 9th was our P day on Monday
and the building was busy. We had the early childhood screening with the special education department put on um 30 total and Sarah and her crew did an excellent job organizing and went really smooth. We also had Candace Rob from our PDC working with the teacher. she had previously been in during the month of January to provide literacy coaching. And when she came back, we sat through and talked about each of their lessons. Um, she had invited a couple teachers and our group to present at the literacy summit this summer. So, she was really impressed in the work we're doing making sure lit letters is in place. So, I'm proud of that. Um, we also had the PBS consultants on campus. Um, and Miss Lawson did a great job organizing those pieces. We had our midterms
go home last week and the teachers along with Mrs. Witworth um make sure that our through fifth grade students finish their math practice test. That's changed a lot in the last few years where you now actually get the results back to see where your kids are at. So it helps the teachers drive their instruction um for that last little piece before we get there. And so I know that Hannah Sanders have passed out the results and they were looking at those on Monday. So it's a quick turnaround. Mrs. Crane has completed all the weeda testing for our district and um I'm welcome Mrs. Woodworth as well. So thank you to them and I think we talked previously about it being our tiered monitoring year. So that includes title program special education e and um I
can speak with title and e are all in compliance and complete up to this point. Okay, we'll move on to Yeah, quite a bit of stuff out. Obviously, it's a really busy time. Had a good time so far. Wrestling this weekend. Girls, they start their districts there in Mexico. Voice of the weekend at Higginsville basketball is coming up. Let you guys know we're hosting both. We had the officials draft yesterday. Tomorrow is a seat meeting this year for I think everybody's going. Girls are going to be Monday, Wednesday, Friday. Boys Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday. Senior night last night. Great turnout. Do the boys senior night Friday night. Molly uh got a $10,000 grant for archery which is spectacular. It's a really busy time. We've had all of our games made up. See Try one more time.
We'd like to do I thought about this, but it's probably a little too late. Talk about maybe a championship night as well and maybe bring back the golf teams and then girls basketball team. That'd be great. Just don't charge that night, you know, just have people. I don't know if there's enough time to do it. Everybody may not like it. Great. >> Well, somebody brought that up just to let you guys know to spread the word. 95% of our games in basketball are done by the assigner and he always takes care of us depending on who the opponent is and we got the bottom of the barrel yesterday. >> I was actually talking about Yeah, I was talking >> that's that's something I keep internal say that we can get. um not a whole lot
has changed in our special education initiating some new things that wpping up some others. I know we a lot of the last few weeks federal programs have been completed. We did do the resubmission for our parents completed. We do have two new educators that are finishing up round of training. in round two. That is a lot more extensive than we were aware of. Um I'm kind of glad it happened so that you guys know what to expect and what is needed for your unwrapped a lot more than we anticipated. Um but with the early childhood screening, we now have a really starting radar before. So that was all in the positive. Um we did finish part one of the special education monitoring. had to name that they will then review that and then turn in
like timeline part of it is procedural with everything proper last also mentioned we did the monitoring I'm sorry the early childhood in the elementary building on the PD day. So, I'm very thankful that she allowed that to happen and we knew heard where located on the training leave and have a plan for return. So, it was too chaotic. Um, sent a feedback survey out to everybody who helped with that with special education staff professionals out and just ways to improve it. How do we make it better the next time? Hopefully we can take what we learned and apply that kindergarten round share that information. We did have I think exactly 31 show up. We only had um about four people not attend that were registered and signed up. There were several sicknesses. Only one that
we called and then just never showed. So out of 35 people know these are all expected to be three or four year olds come August 1 if there is a need from that 31 screening we did out about five or so that weward girls. And ideally, that's what the child is. Identify a need in your community and make early on before they get into that elementary age. Just to kind of also recap, one thing that we found was really interesting specifically in three-year-olds is majority of them had Okay. Not that there's any major concern. Majority of the younger group of half of what came delaying they just didn't have some of those activities. They aren't like play or playground. So it would be nice to be able to teach that connection activities with our park
go through maybe add foundational skills of skipping and copying and jumping. Those are the noted but nothing of major concern that um the last part of my report is just highlighting Olympics. They've got a lot going on right now but if you got to come out last night it was to interact um and just show off what they've got. Uh those kids have come a long way in just their awareness of others. That was a very large crowd for them. I know they recently had a large crowd in Russellville, too. So, just getting more exposure like that, showing them they're just as great as all the other cardinal sports. Their next upcoming stuff is they do have a basketball training on but they have a ball exhibition in Rosville on March. So maybe support that
way that way basketball. That will then move us into old business. We have a fine. >> All right. Thank you. >> Thanks for having me. At the last board meeting, you asked that I have seen some additional information. You had some more questions that you wanted to have answered regarding cost between not only grass fields and what it would take to repair our game field, bring our practice field up to speed and also look at the turf option. As Dr. Wolf presented, there was a couple of options available for a lease purchase that involve different years of that lease purchase. I reached out to three companies or two companies and one individual. The first company is Mammoth and you should have a pretty extensive portfolio or brochure there from Mammoth. Mammoth is the same group
that the Cardinal Foundation used to obtain information regarding the multi-purpose building. Blaze Bower there was kind enough to put something together for us. He actually came here with the gentleman who builds grass fields for them. not just himself giving an opinion, but the person who actually builds the grass fields. And as you can see, there's several different things that they've noted in the pricing guide there that would allow us to a repair our game fields. That includes laser grading it, checking the irrigation lines, I believe it even said 75 tons of sand to help those level out and repair some of the holes that are there. Check um check for the actual dimensions of the field. We know that the internal diameter of the field Correct. The external diameter is a little bit short of
what it should be from playing regulations. That includes the referee box, the coach's box, and the players box. Currently, the players should be standing on about the second row of the track if you go by definite field dimension. Um, I've had referees tell me during the playoffs that they weren't going to flag us for that, but it's something that we need to know in the future. Again, the internal diameter of the field is absolutely correct. what they identified on the practice field. Uh obviously we know the we know the shortcomings of that with the grade of the field, the fact that there's a lack of irrigation and lack of grass. They identified a cost of approximately $120,000 in order to grade that area, provide irrigation, and then there would be additional cost for seating. When
you look at the game field, they thought it would be about $30,000 to get the game field back to where it was playable for a Friday night. Um, that's very consistent with what your second company said as well, Mid America Sports Construction. They're out of lemon, Missouri. They've each done multiple projects around the state of Missouri and in Kansas and all many of the surrounding states actually from high school, colleges, both raft and turf installation. There's a number of advantages for each plan, right? There's a there's a cost advantage with one low cost in the beginning, but maybe long term there's a higher cost that you you may incur. When it looked at turf field, both Mid America Sports Construction and Mammoth who came through uh relayed very heavily that a turf field is the
direction that they believe that we should go uh for a number of reasons. The long-term maintenance costs of both the practice field and the game field are ongoing. Those are not going to stop. They're going to be a fixed amount that you're going to have. And when you have games like we had for the semi-final game, you may incur additional costs that occur on a routine basis. Right. With turf field, a lot of those problems, most of them go away. Irrigation, continual labor to take care of the field. Mr. Bixler and his family graciously take care of the field on a routine basis. Many the paint help paint in the middle the the logo and things. I know Nathan's been out there helping paint a number of times. Well, Mr. Vixler and his family might
be out there two or three times a week taking care of the field to get it to where it needs to be. The cost of the turf in order to line the field, those those kind of costs go away. The cost of irrigation, what the water cost is just for our game field, not to mention the practice field in the spring and in the summer because that field gets to be just like concrete. I know there's been times that classes has tried to throw some seed on the ground up there and obviously it doesn't go anywhere. It has nothing to keep it going. Uh and it's hard as concrete. Nobody really wants much less anything else. Mid America Sports Construction Echo Mammoth in the cost of both the turf field and the cost of natural
grass repair for our game field and the practice field. But I I think it's worth stressing again that the long-term maintenance of a grass field is a definite cost you're going to incur. Not just personal with people to help maintain that, but you'll always have an unexpected thing that occurs. And you can eliminate some of those unexpected cost with the turf field. I really enjoy a grass field. It's really great. The kids enjoy it. The surface is great. Many colleges play on it. Some pro teams still play on it. With a really good grass field, you have to be willing to say no. You shouldn't be on it. A turf field allows us to say yes. Not to just sport and competition, but the things that will go on during the school day. Whether it
be graduation, band who's out in the grass, who then when it's wet, they come into the school and then the school needs to be cleaned after that. There's a lot of ripple effects that occur with the grass field that don't occur with the Okay. So, the cost is there from both companies. Now, the third person I talked to is the former groundskeeper at the Titan Country Club. Uh Brett is a very very good guy. I know we talked to Nathan as well. We both had a very similar conversation with him and he said, "We can help you get your game field ready to go until you decide what you're going to do long term because you need to stay off of your game field to keep it very nice for long term." Everybody is saying
the same thing. We're all repeating each other. I think it's it goes without saying that we should provide something that has a long-term answer. There is a cost lease purchase to do for a field, but you have to subtract that cost that you're going to pay. You have to subtract from that cost the maintenance of your grass field and the labor and everything else. So, while the cost in one scenario may have been $175ish,000, you need to subtract the cost of water, the cost of labor, the cost of paint, the cost of repairs from that $175,000, which would probably get you closer, I think there was an estimate in there for a grass field for Mammoth uh that it could cost tens of thousands of dollars just to keep the field water throughout the course
of a year. We were very fortunate playing, you know, having 109 112 practices this year, many on that field. Um, but it required a lot of water to do that all the way up until the very very end. And we're very thankful for California and Vales allowing us to practice on their field. But what if they were still playing and we couldn't get on that field? Where would we have been at that point? The practice field doesn't have lights, so we would have been forced to get on the game field during that time. It would not have been the most safest place to be. I'm happy to answer any other questions for you. Um, whenever anybody has asked me, they they want regardless of what you think, people watch the board and then they come
and ask me and they ask me what information I found. And I haven't found anybody yet that hasn't come to tell me it's a no-brainer. Now whether that is is true or not based on your opinion, we need to we need to repair things and long term the cost of a turf field saves saves you money from maintaining a grass field. Grass field is great. Really really enjoy it. I like it. But a turf field allows us to do a lot more in the school. Think about field day. Think about graduation. Think about outdoor activities and concerts that you may be able to have. Those things are all possible on a grass field. Not so much. >> Softball, baseball, >> golf, everybody everybody in the school, pick any any sport or activity can use it.
It rains really bad over the at the city park, softball and baseball can come over. You can have youth baseball games on a turf field. That's big enough to have it. Big enough to have youth softball games. is big enough to help with P when their fields have problems. Once it rains, a field will dry in about three hours. And most of these turf fields come with at least 8 year warranties. So the question you asked before about something tearing, how does that how does that happen? Well, they're telling you right there. We come and take right. So lots of benefits or pick a pick a group and we can name a benefit. questions, comments, concerns, >> folks. Between option one and option two, I see there's about >> 17,00 difference. >> Yeah, I'll tell
you exactly what that is. So, at the edge of each football field is something called the D- ring. Letter D as in Duke, right? Okay. The D-ring is that long area followed by the O. The difference in the cost is turfing those D-rings. Why do you want to do that? Well, that's where you keep your equipment. That's where you can put your sled during the season. That's where you can put it out of the way, right? You don't have that grass area. So, it's not an area that you have to worry about tracking mud and stuff onto the turf and whatnot. What you see in front of you is a plain plain field. So, somebody's question would be, "Well, I want a carnival head in the middle." Okay, that cost money. That decoration, that logo
would cost money. I'm sure I'm extremely confident that we could find somebody and a group of people who would who would help decorate that if we move forward in this direction. In fact, I've been told >> once Ringville started doing their fields, >> right? >> Sponsor monitor side >> and there's spots on every field. Um, if anybody traveled down to Lamar a couple years ago, I tried to forget that name, but if anybody traveled down there, you'll notice on the field there's advertisement. And one of the ways that Lamar took care of their field when they did it, uh, was they sold some advertisements that would last a duration of the field. And those were obviously very expensive spots because they're seen every single day, but it was very lucrative for them. Very similar to
a school. thoughts on that >> on these turf options. Coach, you said that the our track or not our track, excuse me, our field dimensions on the exterior of the sidelines are not correctly. Is that correcting any of that in this bid? >> Yes. >> So, and that's fixing the track around it. Also, >> uh define what you mean by fixing the track. This doesn't include putting in a track. >> Okay. the the when when we had the meeting a few years ago for a track and a football field, the total cost of a track and a football field with moving the football field, getting the track there and I believe it was six lanes, maybe it was only six, was about $2.5 million. So, putting in a track, but let's just be real honest,
right? We don't really have a track, right? We have a lot of We have some asphalt that has holes in it. Not super safe to be on track. Don't run on that. They they just right now they practice hurdles in the graph. >> Well, what I'm asking is is if we're going to proper dimensions of, >> you know, sideline safety as you call it, >> right? >> How are we moving the track out? They would have to move remove some of those lanes and then you would decide what you wanted to do with it from there. Does it go back to I saw a picture from 2012? I think that it was a cinder track then. I believe saw an interview on on TV about the football program and there was a think there was
a cinder track at that time. I could be mistaken. You would you would need to decide what you wanted to do with that because the field whether it was Mammoth or Mid America Sports Construction both said that the field needs to move slightly this way in order to get to the correct dimensions. And then what most people do is they will have a concrete border around that area curb to protect it. I just was I just wanted to put >> Great question. Great question. >> Now the center of the I mean field itself is not actually moving left to right. We're just expanding the border down. >> It depends on how you want to accomplish that and how much space you want between the field and the stand when you could you add that. So
if the if the student athletes are standing in the second row of the track right now, questions to be answered, where do cheerleaders go? That's an easy question, right? They they are currently there. Not a big thing to handle. It's pretty easy. We can find that, right? But if you wanted to add more space for everybody, this would be the time that you do that, right? It's kind of like the different um when I'm talking to folks, it's like almost right or right. You just make it right. >> Was that included in the cost if we had to remove two lanes track? Um, we can look in there. I didn't re I didn't see remove two lanes of track. I saw lay down the correct size of the football field. That's what I saw. And
it said labor with excavation in there. So, when Mammoth says that they're going to put a correct size football field in there, my guess would be yes. And Blaze would be happy to be here and answer any of those questions for you. We when I spoke to Dr. Wolf earlier today, we did not feel like he necessarily needed to be here today to answer that. But I don't that he's not going to put down a field that does it doesn't fit requirements. As you can see in the booklet from all the other fields that he's done, his name is there on the line for whoever he picks. But there is a significant cost in fixing the practice north of $100,000 based on two companies. Those are not my estimate. I just obtain the experts to
go get it. I don't I don't do But we go terms we don't have to worry about practice really basically savings an initial savings. Yes. And most of these companies one of the questions I expected was well when could somebody do this? Most of these companies were have it done before we played before we played the game. Sorry. Go ahead. Is any I know we might have addressed this before. Do we kind of know? Okay, let's just use option one. 987,000. >> You know, that was our initial put in. We're good for roughly eight years by warranty. We'll say that >> you can get 12 to 15 out. >> I get that. But what I'm saying is >> let's just say yes. What is it to >> So typically that cost afterwards, >> you know,
eight years it's junk. I'm just saying. What is I know we don't have to rele >> 300 >> would be your maybe in eight years it goes up >> it's around 300 right now so maybe >> there is good money in selling used >> oh very >> that's what that's what our baseball team used >> get very big pieces of it they put anywhere you can to your shop. >> I didn't know there was a market for used, >> right? But there's a there actually is. And to answer your question a little further, the level of that cost also depends on the degree of decoration that you want to do on your field, right? So, say you you had a plain field. Okay. Um, a couple of schools ago when I was coaching, our first
field is plain, all green, white line, no decorations whatsoever for about 12 years. Okay. And then after that, when we replaced it, the cost of that replacement was around $300,000, but we added words in the end zone. We added a big logo in the middle. We added a bunch of other things. Well, that cost went up to 330, 340 because you're adding more things, right? Now, I want to ask a dumb question that I think. So, if you're we're playing, you know, go line go line. >> Yeah. the D area and the sidelines, they're not going to wear out here as fast, are they? Is that something that >> they when they replace it, they just replace it? >> Okay, that was kind of my question. They replaced it. Yeah, if you >> there's some
schools that have also to extend the shelf life of their second third time they'll replace just like they'll come in those spots cut and cut up stitch section. They said they would have it done before the fall season. >> Well, it takes about six weeks to do it. Six to eight weeks. >> Yeah, you should. It I've thoroughly enjoyed watching go in it. I mean, I lived in Chicago for a while. You would stand and watch buildings go up, right? It's just amazing to watch really good people do these things and to watch them come in and put it put it in. It's it's a very efficient streamwide process right by it. >> Took them a day to do the playground. >> Right. And look how well that turf is done. Right. Look how well
that turf has lasted. It's on you're on it every day pretty much. I would imagine. and the field. >> Yeah. So, if I if I had to give my opinion for whatever it was worth, this would be a no-brainer. We're we're in a we're in a spot now that we have to do something to our field and we can't predict what we are doing moving forward and you eliminate bus rides in the playoffs if you have to use them. You eliminate going up on on that field for a number of other things. You have a space that you can use for something else within the district. Every sports team and activities can can utilize it. You'll end up coach car will end up having a Google enough for people to use it. What will happens?
It's the same all that replacement,000 cost replacement. And there's a number of companies uh in my research with this. Yeah, there's a number of companies that are looking for schools to help them to lower the cost of financing and to make it where there's less of a burden on the schools. I'm quite confident that we can find that based on I would like to look in further into the advertising on the field. I mean me that's kind of a no-brainer. You know, if we can get someone to kick in money, I mean that's money that we don't have to put out. I mean, yes, it helps the cost to get their logo, whatever they want on the field, but money >> and you can certainly do that at any point in time. Just happy to
cut in an area and put it down when they're going. Not an issue. >> They stencled some of that in. >> I appreciate you. >> Sure. >> I have questions on some cost. What are we paying? Water. there. Well, we'll have to put in a new track. We'll have to move it. So, one part has to be destroyed. We're going to have a track also have a really hard time spending sign up. also have a hard time putting permanent signage unless they're putting the entire bill because taxpayers all these businesses pay taxes in. So just because they're a smaller business and can't afford to have their logo on the field doesn't mean they're not pay. So having logos on the field only way I see that as happening project otherwise we're disregarding that businesses that
are not able to fun um also I did do synthetic per 500 hours uh three hour practices there's about 119 practices this year. I know they don't know all about three hours, whatever. You know what I'm getting at is what kind of repairs 500 hours talk about. I know it's different for every situation. Obviously, they probably check the stitching, things like that. Um, but just I think there's just so much unknown cost still water moving the track. We're track No, I I think those are all good questions. Um, and to let's let's start with the water. I think that's a question I can't answer, right? I think that when you talk about 500 hours and what kind of wears out the school I was at, it wasn't until year 11 or 12 uh that a
stitch broke on a seam and it was where we kick off. That's what it was. And then other like the three yard line where people are are snapping or kicking or going correction points, right? It was those hight traffic areas and the company that we used came out and fixed it. Uh they usually leave several bags of rubber and come back and go, "Hey, we can we'll come and see after it settles and go and mix some of this back in, but here's some if you see it as well." There's also composition of the field that has to come into play. You have to pick where you want that to be. There's a speed ratio that sits there. The harder the field is, the faster you are, the softer it is, the slower you are,
just like with mud or rock or something, right? So those things are all decided as you go. But the wear patterns, that's like 500 really, really intense hours. And with people moving around, I'm extremely confident that that goes much, much further. I would say like 500 really hard game hours in an area, not over the entire field, right? And some of those more higher traffic areas that mention principal that he mentioned, uh, those are more the spots that need to be fixed. And even then, even then, the company came out and just to it back up. I was like, I think I could do I think I could pretty. Yeah. But that that's really where it was. Um, and as far as the logos, that's that's something for you guys. If we're if we're having
that discussion, it means we have a field down and we're ready we're ready to go forward with that. Right. I know at Lamar those were companies that were longstanding companies within those areas that have been there for a long time uh that were well respected. That's why they also were to do like natural grass option. for me. Options three and four would be less than where to find that longterm practice. Well, so that It could. Yes. And and it it can as long as we have the mindset that we'll keep when we send them to the practice. But then there's still more mowing that has to occur, higher water volumes. Water cost will essentially double based off whatever we pay on the game field because you're going to have to keep that grass up and
if you use that more, you're going to need more water up there. I mean, currently with youth and middle school and high school practicing up there, the volume on that field is much higher than it is on the game currently, but as you know from coaching football, there's there's times at night where you need to go down there. You need to be on a surface like you're playing. It' be the equivalent of the basketball team going to the church down the street that has one basketball trying to practice just one workout. You need to have some semblance of being on the competition. >> But I agree. you have those options. What other questions can I answer for you or information can I gather for you to help you make move in the right direction? Blaze
has offered uh Blaze from Mammoth and he is offered to come here and speak or answer any other questions in the future if you so choose. Obviously, if you have very intricate questions regarding the construction, they have an entire team. I'm sure Mid America Sports Construction would be here to answer those questions if you want it. Obviously, the longer we wait, the harder it's there's And I didn't put out an RFP. I just >> Oh, I think it's perfect what you put together. Give us something on paper to look at. what we had asked for. I know it took some time, so I appreciate it. >> No problem. That's what we're here for. >> Thank you. Just want to make sure Um, real quick before this the whole business, but I just got a call
today. Travis Cleos with the weather could not get up there good. He said he is going to try to be up there by the end of the week. Hopefully, if weather prevails, try to get it finished up no later than he's going to get that knocked out. He said cross he couldn't. I was up there. >> That's what we thought too. But when we asked you >> storage stuff, they're going to work on it because of the frost. would have to be done quick. >> Well, I I don't think there's a problem if you need to get stuff out of there. Go ahead, ladies. Okay. So, we're talking about bonding capacity involved in that. He's done several options that I've talked to give you all the information program that It's something you need before you
can make >> hard because I mean I think that ideally this would run in my mind that does let the community in the same time we have a lot we have capacity >> so um >> exact but you have that weighing against the time is a problem right make sure that we are able to have a field in place to practice next year. >> I think no matter what we have to do, we have toasting it leveled out. options. We I mean the board and I know not everyone was on the board. Board's been in favor of both this and purpose building. I think board is supportive having >> what's the most responsible >> there is safety concern. I know coaches mention every once in a while like I've coached on the field on the
sidelines sidelines all the holes and stuff we had a one of the guys on the ch. So there's just there there is some of that we can get. We have we have a lot of capacity. And I would be saying this is something six months. If we're going to do something we need more information or that's like a work session where it really I'm wrong. I'm good. probably tap in somewhere else. >> I'll be glad to find out more. Absolutely. can do anything. >> Yeah, but it's >> Yes, it is. >> Maybe that's the best thing. All right. So, let's go and move to school. >> We have just started this conversation back in September, October, the current situation being building and so we have kind of done some digging on funding sources to look
survey what the community need is going to go over that. So funding for preschool has three different ways that you can money. AA which only applies for three to four year old students and that's based on need. So that wouldn't be available to every student in the community only based on that's a pretty predictable funding source. It's just like any other student that comes to our district. ECSE is our special early childhood special education. This is only for students with IEPs. There is a way to make a room students who have IEPs and also have an integrated program where you look at students who are peer models. That's if you're familiar with a special learning center. That's how they work. Um siblings that be in the same room, be in the same building and they
get to go. That's how you could get early childhood special education funding. That's fully reimburseable. Um, and we could look at that as far along as there is 50% or more general education students, you can have a special education classroom. And then the last thing that we talked about with Desi was the MO QPK grant that is only for four-year-old students. It is awarded annually in May and June. You have to apply for it. It's not guaranteed. Um, and I asked the lady from said, "So, what do you do? I mean, you could be on the hook for money and you don't know until June or July you're getting the money for it." Um, said that most districts who operate off of this um California down the road I was talking to Riley Glenn they
use this or sales uses this grant um they present to the parents that it's a tuition based program but then Junior July when this comes through it's now a free program so they go into the understanding that they're going to have to fulfill unless this comes through. Um, how this works, it's a staffing model. So, you can use, you don't have to pick one avenue that we're going to look at. Every student in the program can be under a different funding source so we can get the most students in our program. Um, if we're looking at what's the most stable, ADA, early childh, and special education um would be you automatically get those as long as you have two classrooms down there currently. We're using that same space and we could have one classroom designated
as ADA. This is based off of need and that would be coming from her child find activity that she had um this past week. You could have a minimum of 15 students that would generate enough money. You'd have to have minimum of 15. You would not want any more than 20 students in that classroom. And that would be one teacher per year. The other classroom would operate as early childhood special education. you have a lower number of students. Axe 12. This would be students with IEPs, one teacher, two caras. Every bit of that money is reimbursable. Um, we would probably most likely look at the staff children being able to be the peer models and that would be the benefit of being also working retaining staff. Um, other considerations that we have to look at
and these just kind of skim across the top when we were going through was curriculum. Um, what does that current playground look like? There's fencing up there. Now, we know that that would have to have a be a piece that we'd have to put some money and pieces into supplies. Um, providing lunch if these students are under free and reduced would apply if they were they fall into that category for lunch services, but we would have to tap into those. There'd be some therapies for for um special education that we have to consider using the people we have in our building, they have time in their schedule. Those are all just the details that we have to dig a little bit further into. Um there is a bandage you can get up to 25,000 matching
funds optional. There are some caveats there also minority renovations big thing is the application deadline closes. That is something we would like to pursue totally optional, not needed or necessary. Reiterating the screen again, that was a child activity that we have to do anyway. special. However, that information children of August three and four year olds can qualify under Those main areas concept break down. That's kind of where we play. One of the logistics about some way of special concern for special needs. just something that hey these are kids in your community aren't kindergarten ready >> when I was speaking about financing we talked about funding board and kind of go over some of the options and she said you know the money that you're spending on early childhood um is more bang for your buck
than spending that same amount of money when they reach high school it's too late early intervention is key we're looking next steps and um I don't think that whenever Dr. I talked about it, we're ready for you all to say yes, we're ready to have preschool. Let's let's approve it. Um but we do have some next steps that we want to move on as long as this is still something that you all would like to consider um for next month. So our next pieces would be of those students that came to our screening to request more information from them. Um there's pieces that would play into the funding factors that we need to explore each family and that would probably be like offering invitations for preschool they would um and then just ironing out some
details with staffing scheduling where does everything fit because we know we have some staff pieces that we could probably move around and maneuver to make this possible. And then if that is tonight you guys say that we would like to move forward as far as continuing to explore March we would hope to gain a function but we also don't want to do that next space and we have a need my opinion I I think it's worth moving forward on in my opinion. I don't know what the other board feels, but I think this is a community need as you stated proactive and reactive is always better. Don't catch the kids when they are young. Help them I like to say form, but be ready for kindergarten. Make them better students and all that. I will
say we had 40th graders walk in this year and a lot of them were not tied to daycarees or preschool. So not stay home grandparents or stay home parents on all different kinds of situations um and not getting preschool exposure. So it makes that first part of kindergarten especially hard We were very special. So say we have this would be I guess this is what I have a kid that doesn't parents at work and if they were four years old and you decided to explore the community. If you don't then there's other community presunes for special education. No matter we're talking already special on that list That's where you have to go back. You can also explore based but it's a stacking method and every kid in there everybody's different on the line of the
mo If you want to >> I guess that that's out there annually. So I'm going to just say if we start say with something more 32 children that we identify as special needs or four year olds or staff or you know how you've explained it. I guess if we see this as a home run, we could maybe look later for bigger and better. You know that that's always there. Correct. I think it's also being careful and a little hesitant on we want to make sure whatever we do is successful. I would hate to do this and next year be like we can't sustain this because we're in over our heads and and all the other things that go into it. Um, and I don't know which one's the best until we get more information from
our students to make sure that we can fill an ADA room if we have enough need. We have a little a few pieces to make sure that we're there. But I think that it's worth exploring and then to decide if what we can do is sustain. >> I would I would like to see a home run at a smaller level and >> 30 children raising This is one year. Well, you're saying the weight list. You take 30 kids off their weight list. That's a pretty big open opening. >> There seems to be >> move forward maybe. >> So that that would just mean there's going to be letters that we have potential preschool and then we're going to get more specific. I think that's >> Thank you ladies. Thank you for your hard work. In
your packet is the latest revision revision internally for this year's fiscal budget. And this is primarily a reflection of where we are with our revenues now that we have received the bulk of our tax money. However, in light of the conversation we've had tonight, you might also be interested on the bottom of the first page what we're predicting our capital projects fund to end the year with. And you can see that that figure 651,5. So we my intention is to transfer the tax amount we can from fund one to fund four doing our equipment transfer and we already are carrying forward a balance. So based on the expenditures I have in right now, it should end up with 600,000 in fund for and that might be relevant if you are considering some future capital. Any
questions about the rest? We just need a motion to approve this. >> Make a motion. We in the budget as proposed by Thank you very much. I'll move us into new business. We got Mr. Hampton here. Um, this did you all get this inside of your packets or whatever for the city? It started a few years ago whenever the girls had won their state championship uh citizen or resident of the district reached out to the city and they would requested to have underneath like the city limit sign. You can see in some cities they have like that underneath agreement. recognizes um that somebody was a state champion from there. Um so I've always been very supportive of the school. I've been indebted to the work that you all do here and as teachers, principles, administrators,
everything. It's uh you guys are a big driver for our town. So of course we reached out to MDOT. MODOT came back with what you would call on the very first part of that where they said that due to pending federal regulation, we were no longer going to allow that. So, that's what we responded to the resident. Well, then you guys were fortunate enough again to have another state champion and Dr. Duke reached out. I relayed the same information to him. But then we got a message also. There was a there's a town that's close by that underneath their little green sign. They had somebody 2025 certain state champion. Well, we reached out to Mo about that. What we found out was that wasn't authorized to do and they are going to be removing that.
Now, I don't know how much we caused a problem for doing that, but anyways. But what they did come back, something that they changed was, and the city has authorized this. Um, if you look at it, we have those welcome to tip and those red signs underneath there. Accomplishments. It says if we have one, a welcome to typing sign. Accomp accomplishments can be they can have up to three under each one of them. So, we have three foot underneath it. So, at most you could have would be an 8 inch sign that would be able to proudly display that you guys are state champions. It doesn't have to be for sports. It can be for FFA or any other accomplishment that you all would want to highlight. The city is, like I said, it's behind
this. It says if you want to do it, it's something that uh we will do the permitting work on for you. MDOT is not something that is fun to deal with. So, I'm appreciative of Jennifer for wanting to do that. Um, recently Miss Bailey had with Deca had the P MIA, so she'd already designated us a Purple Heart. Um, so when we went to MODOT to say, "Hey, we need to put this new one up." She said, "Okay, that's fine, but then you're going to also have to move the P sign another 800 ft down the line. They're just a bear, a bear to deal with." So, it's really up to you. It's a ball that's in your court. If you all have any activities or anything that comes up, it does have to be
if it's a school related thing, it should be updated at least once a year, you know, just at the end of the school calendar year is what MODOT says. So, if you all decide that if you have a group that says, "Hey, we'd like to display oursel," all you would have to do is just say, "Okay, we'll just tell us what you want." And then if they want to raise the money or whatever to have that thing on there for their little 8 inch banner, then we gladly put that up there to show you guys off. >> How much room is there? >> There's 36 inches below it. You can go up to a foot tall for each one of them. But by doing that, would you limit yourself to two? The maximum's three. I
mean, >> how many? We have two. >> We have three. We have one on the east, west, and south. We did not put one by the prison. There's just not a good location. And then you're getting into MODOT there around prison which is even tougher to deal with. >> I know. >> So we could typically or get up to nine signs then. >> Yeah. You would have Yeah. They would have if a if you say you say say for example I know the weather or the the wind is blowing for possibly another state championship this year or another. you know, if you all decided with the basketball girls or a that we'd like to put, you know, 23, hopefully 26. I know you're not supposed to talk like that, but they're under there with state
championship football. Again, FFA, I know that they do. They have quite a bit of recognition. DECA does it. It just if it's something that you all decide that you want to do, then just understand that at the end of each year, that's whenever you can update. >> You would just >> what? I don't know. It's eight inches would be your You'd have eight inch eight inch. Uh >> I was just >> Oh, no. No. That was something that I do not know. We We'd have to talk to the that the whole sign itself. I mean, our big one right there. Those things were like only like three or four thousand for the whole complete structure. You're just talking about a >> Yeah. A single something that has to hang there. It has to be visible.
Be the same lettering. >> Yeah. if and I you know if one of those two like for example if you know you have 2025 state champion football if they won again I'm sure there would be some family member that might want to purchase that at least those the one that said 2025 to me have at their house just a way to sell them get rid of them recycle them out but it's up to you guys like I said it's just something that as a city we wanted to make sure that you know hey it's not something that we put off We always want to be supportive of you and show you off. It's just that this is the avenue to go. The other way would be is if you want to go through the whole
permitting process yourself, you all can probably set up your own sign somewhere along there. It is a bear to deal with. MDOT is not. It can be done, but it's just a lot of work. Mark called asked you could be on the agenda when we were talking through that part of the conversation. What's why wouldn't we want to talk about. >> Well, yeah, >> sure. I mean, you guys are I mean, I mean, I I really mean that from my heart. I mean, you guys do the school is a huge I've said it before when I've come here and talk to you guys. I mean, I'm very appreciative. I mean, you are a driver for this community. People do. That's something that they they look forward to that stuff. They really do. They They pay
attention to the things you're doing. It's not just sports. It's everything that y'all are doing. They always cheer for these kids because it is I mean it's something that where everybody wants to disagree it's something that people agree upon you know you really do but yeah that's just it's I guess my I got permission from the council council told me that said I asked them I said would it be all right with you all they said you go to the school board let them know so if you all have any groups any groups doesn't have to be sports that want something displayed there you do have an option to do something Put yourself right at the boundaries. I'll just ask. Is there anybody on the board that is upsampionship? All staff coaches. Well, not just
coaches, but >> you look at everybody said 200 bucks. Also, where does it come in? Like we like say we have a special state championship maybe. I mean, we have up to nine options, right? It could just be processes. >> And you can list multiple years. Golf. >> No, no, see that that >> Okay, that that was part of the Well, see that's that that was when you brought up golf. When you brought up golf, that was what was relayed in another town. Um, they have the people that have that. You'll see that in in towns, they have according to that they've got like a 10-year contract and as soon as that contract is done, then they will be removed all across the state. whole you know >> has already gone off the bars. >>
Well, it never that was the thing and that's what I asked too the I was like it was just something that was never really pursued. There was always I mean even whenever I decided to give you guys a proclamation um you as well I mean I brought that up that I mean it was in the past I don't know why I don't know why it was the city there was kind of just a little bit of an invisible barrier between I mean we're two we're two you know two governments two separate ones and so people don't didn't want to cross that you know cross that boundary I've always been in favor of it I just think that it's something that we should do but no I I mean there was if if there was that
would have been the easier part. If there was if that was already in place then yes we could have possibly grandfathered something in there. >> There's tons of them that have to come down. >> Yeah they have. Now that you mentioned the 2025 golf one, I remember seeing that. >> Yeah, >> last week when I drove through the rules. No, I I mean celebrate what we've done, right? But yeah, like I said, that as far as as far as what you all want to do, that that's something I was just letting that know. That way, like for example, if somebody comes to to us, then we're going to just direct them on to you, say, "Hey, you need to talk to your admins, talk to your athletic directors, there's an agreement that can be going
on." And then that's something for you to decide as a board or >> Well, and maybe it's something like, you know, it's not a permanent thing that could change. >> Oh, yeah. I mean, that's >> every year or every 10 years. >> No, no. you have okay it since if it's school related if you look on the packet it says if it's school related um it says it shall be it shall be updated at least at once a year so like say for example in this just your example okay it would have just had the 2023 girls state basketball championship that would have been the only one that's underneath it okay it didn't have to be updated it didn't have to be they would >> stay >> yeah it stays it'll stay >> get updated
>> yeah it goes along with every year. Every year as a city, and this is why I talk about this, the city's input on this is our u the permitting. We are the ones that like fill out all the paperwork. Every one of our signs that are coming in there, there is a there's a document that we have to sign off on every year that's MODOC compliant. Um we take care of all >> get you a list. >> We would say that you would, you know, leave them up there until the need of things. >> Well, yeah. So you >> just have to make sure you communicate that because I'd hate for someone to come and say I want to buy one has all the golfers on there forever like a little waiver in there
that says hey if you run out of room >> well yeah okay and say for example that's what I was saying so this so for examples I I know you're not supposed to talk like that but I mean >> okay boys well there there you go there's another prominent program possible Um but yeah like if for example the girls 23 26 girls okay you could write 27 28 29 30 let's dream big you know. Yeah, >> you just update the >> Yeah, we just >> No, we do not have to change the sign. You just >> and those things the what the mater what the materials made out of it last >> handle like everything else let the administrators handle if there's discrepancy come to us normal channels right >> I know like I said
that I know that is I mean but that's it's they give you three that's and that's as much as we can do and 8 in would still be legible they say say that it has to be legible from the road. >> Thank you, Mark. >> Very good. So, we have a contract in front of us. The best person. Is that correct one? >> We use our sporting goods and equipment and they They give us $5,000 every year. I've been a part of it for >> basically this year, but uh it's a fantastic deal and they uh sweeten the pot a little bit and up it to 7500 and that's where we buy all of our hoodies and shirts and things for our coaching staff. You're not >> you're not locked in to have to use
them. you're locked into the pricing of the 30% off or whatever the exact percentage off is on the MSRP price. So, you get the automatic discount and you get the reward if you spend X number of dollars. Um, they're the ones that all the all the sports teams use for their team stores, but again, it's not a company you have to use. >> Say that again. the how much we typically >> so they were just under 20,000 and year to date. I asked because it specifically states good standing. We would also specifically states that we would have like their signage on everything. Every um every time we had something out like a rosters on it for games on it game one on our website, Facebook, Twitter, everything has the most concerning part that does mention
booster. We do very quick turnar around times on all the conference state district shirts and stuff that's all the fine print on there mainly I would say $60,000 mark Is it just uniforms? >> It's everything. >> I didn't spend as much money last year. If you remember, I was able to to save quite a bit when we ordered uniforms. I got really good deals here and there and he took really good care of us and we actually were able to go to some stock uniforms. So, we saved thousands last summer. But >> when was the last time? >> What is it? Yeah. >> I mean, I don't have it in front of it. It's on a spreadsheet. It's five years. >> Basically, four to five years. >> I think unless I ask I know softball
has >> they got they got the uniform the same year baseball did. Same same cycle. >> They want to move up a year. She came the >> typically it's five years. >> Yeah. Well, I did notice going through those statements as things that there's a lot more everything that was all included. So, there's a lot there. >> Well, we've done a lot with that stuff this year. or 11,000 more concerning doesn't seem reasonable and also removing any activities but I don't know how deep they go into that all that stuff. That's the mount. And then >> Yeah, I think I think Shannon can can change the wording on some of it, too, because I'm sure he I'm sure he uh submitted the contract. They submit them all the time, I'm sure. So, it's probably a
generic contract. >> And I'm sure it's probably just like the one that we signed, I think, four or five years ago. Um, and I don't think that, but he can he can definitely I mean I we we talked specifically about the uh the t-shirts whenever we were in Steve's office whenever he brought the contract and he said that they don't like to mess with those because of the turnaround time. They can't turn them around that quick. So, he doesn't like to mess with um so we we've been with them and they haven't anything about the booster club yet. So I would be interested to see if that was in the previous one, but either way it can be removed out of it. >> Yeah, I think it's past just to keep up. >> Yeah, >>
sure. I think I wrote I think I wrote most of them down. >> This has to You know, you know, they're not giving us the discount or whatever it is requires us to trigger that. >> Seems like the contract >> standing then we'll continue to advertise your logo and you'll continue to give us a discount. But if because I think if I read that right but you said we don't pay 20 we're not standing right >> I read it that way too it said to be in good stand >> but then later No, >> he hasn't said anything about it. >> That's why that's why I want to ask him like how like on this contract, what's like your generic this is a contract we made one time and send it to everybody. I think
having a source we know we you'd hate to be held liable during the contract. It also has beneficial there has to be a way to make that work. Jason, you said something a minute ago about t-shirts. I didn't hear what you were saying on I actually specifically asked him about the t-shirts with the booster club because we've had that quite a bit recently with different teams and he said that they really don't even mess with that because of the turnaround time. So I I don't know like how much of this is just generic >> weren't >> in the contract because they they don't do the turnaround time of two days >> two weeks. >> Somebody said something what about champs you know. >> Yeah last minute order or >> Yeah. >> whatever you know >>
basically uniforms equipment for so many sports basketballs like you said tape. >> Okay. And >> I just want to make sure clarification. No, that's what I told >> brought that up because he said he knows you got we have relationships with certain vendors on insurance. Um, so we're going to move on to health insurance for next year in your packet and the rates depending on the plan increase ranges from 7.7 plan. Currently the board $566 to increase the board paid part to equal the increase in cost $29,4. I'm not prepared to promote that particular at this point until we look at the salary schedules. We're in the process of flipping our budget over now and working through some of the pieces for next year. I would like to have the salary schedule in place in
March so that is contracts contracts second. So uh but the figures that you might want to consider are If we increased it by 2% that would cost us 9,900. We increase the board part. If we increase the board paid part by 5% that would cost us $19,140. And like I said to meet the total increase would cost us $29,4 that's for your consideration. You do need to approve the insurance plans but I think if you are okay with waiting until March and we also know what we want because that is part of the compensation. You're all right with waiting until March to do both of those things. But in the meantime, you might want to consider cost that I've given you. And if you would like for me I assume that is that based on
>> I know overall uh there were districts who had larger than so it's based on a lower tier some of them increases Um, so it sounds like I mean this is our option. >> Yes, >> we would need to move I think agreement. >> Yeah, you don't want to get out of SBA or else you're going to have huge increases. You don't be on your own, >> right? >> You can go with MUHP, but that's a whole another animal. So, you might as well stay with SBA where you're at. I did this at >> the actual insurance. >> Yes. >> Thank you. Now we've got tuition rates. >> Yes. U I included the worksheet that Jesse provides for us and we had talked about this at another meeting briefly. Um according to Jessie we are
able to charge 12,000 over 12,000. However the sending districts pay that tuition and in order to take into consideration budget I am recommending that we increase it by 7500 to 8,000 and maybe after that but I don't think it's appropriate to make a total jump 12,000 keep that and they are 18 number but it's either a five or nine. Um we uh they do get to recoup some of their cause by because they get to claim ADA students they so they do get some help but again Right now that's 6,9 so it still doesn't the total amount but they get help paying. So my proposal and I it's just helpful if other super when they're creating their budgets they know what to expect for tuition usually have a handle on So, I'd rather set that
proposal to set >> I can think of 12 off the top of my head. >> Well, I couldn't figure out like how many how do we have 15 or 19 kids paying for it? >> I didn't think Clarksburg. Sorry. >> Well, there was the December payments that came through on the bills. We just divided that out for both of them, but I didn't. >> I think I've got it written down. >> I think the reason sense for next year starts in August, right? >> Well, July one >> superintendent need to have their budget approved by >> we're not going to change this double check, >> right? I'll make a motion that we increase our tuition rate to 8,000 from 7500 as recommended by >> all. Okay, very good. Uh, and we've got a change here.
>> Well, no, I guess it's just proposed. >> Yeah, you all should have a copy of that. I hope um just bumping that up to 169 to recoup some of that extra funding that we can receive from the state. Um it's kind of a no-brainer. Everybody's going to state's way of kind of pushing you away from a 4 day week, getting you kids into the classroom more. Um sent it out to the admin team, sent it out, they sent it out to the staff. They got feedback. We've made a lot of tweaks to it, taking into consideration what the staff wanted for day days off. Um some different things in there. Like I said, the added days, uh, we cut back on a few PD days. There's says seven. That's seven, including the two new
teacher days in there. So, um, little numbers in the game there, but um, left some, uh, like I said, left five PD days total in worked into this calendar. Um, we have a few half days which are different. So, we'll have parent teacher conference and student work day. In last class day, school will be half days. Then there'll be on those student work days and the parent teacher conferences or showcase student work sorry um it'll be a uh half day off a little bit then then the activities for that evening starts up >> CTC isn't it in the evening or afternoon >> is that going to affect early on days like that up there >> it shouldn't I mean they'll still go to their they'll still go to the programs I I just didn't >>
it will affect the lunch program and I we talked to uh the building admin because it'll affect the how you serve lunches. That'll be the biggest things in there for that. Nothing happened. >> I think the only thing that changes is they follow our calendar. They give me their calendar. I give them our calendar at the beginning or as soon as it's approved, we say, "Hey, here's for next year." And we just work with each other. Like, but if our kids aren't expected to be at school, um their attendance falls under us, not under them. Um the kids that go into health program, for example, they know like I'm going to have to go up there on clinical days. They have that understanding. They've t they talk to the instructors prior to enrolling in that
program. Things look a little bit different for them. Building trades is super flexible. They're out working on houses, whatever. They know, you know, some of these kids have jobs. If they can go work for a half a day, they let them do that versus coming up there. So, I think right now we have pretty good relationship and we can work with them and um but we get them our calendar pretty early and like I said, good relationship with them. So I don't think it'll be an issue for kids >> that I'm I love the half days. Kids think they're great. So I excited to see them back. But I just wanted to make sure you know there wouldn't be a problem with >> Yeah. No, I think just having our calendar in advance and knowing
what to expect and communicating with them is all they ask. >> Does build in your snow snow makeup days so you don't have to worry about that. I know that some we had some discussions about not building in as many but you still have to get to 169. So it's not Call them what you want, but they're still in there. You know what I mean? That takes all the guess work out at the end of the year, too, which is a no-brainer for families, graduations, everything, summer school, all this stuff. So, like I said, uh it'll allow us to get about 25 to anywhere from 25 to 40. We talk 45. >> Yeah. 45,000. >> We have to do it a year before we're eligible. So, by the time we're eligible, that >> incentive goes
up to that would put us at 45 or greater just that's just based on this year. >> So that would uh it's kind of a no-brainer too. I mean it it's you're kind of looking at it as this going to be the standard kind of calendar 169 going forward to keep giving that extra funds. >> Appreciate you guys team and talking to the staff. >> Yeah, the building admin teams they all did a good job of getting out there. We We tweaked it a hundred times and Brum probably hated us by the end of it and Amy too. But we uh twe we we did a lot of things and tried to make it as user friendly as we can. We are shortening the day a little bit there too. Um getting out at uh
what we say 3:00. >> Yeah. 3:00 um to to uh recoup some of the staff's time too. So we look at instead of getting letting the staff leave at 3:30, you're also getting let by 3:15 shortening their work day a little bit, but you're also adding days in. So, it's kind of a give and take on both sides. >> Same start time then >> uh 7:55 >> 7:55 about 8. So, kids are in now at 7:30 and honestly in the halls they're ready to go. They have plenty of time to eat breakfast. Buses are there if I'm running really really behind and I'm pulling in at 7:29. I've got buses waiting like dropping kids off already. So, um I don't feel like this year at all breakfast or any year for that matter is an
issue. And at the end of the day, if we have a bus late or doesn't have breakfast, we're always going to feed them. It's never going to be an issue. We're not going to not feed kids. So, um 7:55 time start, kids are just roaming the halls anyways. So, >> y that'll also help out your city schools, too. It may not be a big deal, but I know early in the year it it havoc for like us to get our bus back and forth to Clarksburg. Now, you take that out of the equation for Clarksburg getting out later. So, now we can run a bus. Clark can ride a bus all the way to town, pick up those kids instead of us having to figure out a drop off spot in the middle of the
ground road or parking lot or somewhere to get those kids back. So, that's going to it's going to help out them as well. >> David Yes. Okay. >> Yeah. What's that? What is it? Two weeks before Labor Day. >> Yeah. >> I knew we always have to start after I thought I'd ask. >> Uh so our next topic is junior high chair program. It was something that was brought to me as just a potential discussion point of adding junior high cheer because we have we have a community member uh Aaron Bernett who started third through sixth grade cheer for to go coincide with Tiffan youth football. Um, so talked it over with uh Regina a little bit and we have a gap in cheerleading, which is junior high cheerleing, which would be seventh and eighth
grade. Um, to keep costs low, looking at only doing home games, uh, for football, and maybe transferring that into some home like junior high, basketball games, whatnot, uh, to fill school spirit. Um the thought along this process is I guess there was uh 20ome volleyball players last year, you know, and that's a lot in junior high. Maybe some of them would do cheer instead if they had another outlet. It doesn't do anything too expensive and it gives a lot of other kids that might not do something. You know, they were used to doing it for youth football and then there's a couple years they can't do anything. Maybe they really liked it. I know I have a couple neighbor kids that basically didn't have anything to do and now they're cheerleading in high school and
they would have done that if they'd had the opportunity. And the good thing about cheerleading is is it's both male and female um allowable. So don't run into any problems with adding a sport for one um gender versus the other or anything like that. So just kind of there is some costs in that breakout there. Um mainly uniforms, uh a lot of cheerleading cost actually. You know, they purchased some of their own stuff as we got into with the high school team. >> Yes. And then there would be we'd have to look at that as well. And I think that's why it would make sense just to get people thinking about it. >> Yeah. Well, I think we would want to see if there's an interest and then look at the financial impact, but I
think Dr. Wolf made a note about this is another thing that we need to wait till March to say yes on expenditures. It would be something new. >> Yeah. Four years ago, I sent out a survey for all baseball. >> Wrestling was another one, right? I mean, one thing. >> Yeah. And there's wreck leagues, too, on some of those sports. There isn't for cheerleading, right? >> Yeah. That covers that bridge. Brian Bruce contacted me got he was interested in maybe pursuing the idea of junior high wrestling too which would be another lowcost idea because a lot of those kids can practice with the high school and the dual meets can be held on the same night as high school meets too. That would go a long ways to helping that program out too. Like I
said, I mean besides a few singlets, a little bit extra on the coaching, you know, it can all be ran at the same time. So, if you're going to include that in the survey, I think that'd be something to look at, too. I think anything we can do to boost up junior high sports activities as a whole helps out with high school and just overall team spirit school is going to be a good thing. >> It does keep kids out of trouble too with their thumb on them. So this the next one is just a move um that way we don't have to come back and talk about it later of moving we have our board meeting on Wednesday March just I don't believe >> I No issue with that. >> Seems like I think
we would do that anyway. >> You don't you don't want to say these things, >> but I think that anyway, but we'd have to meet that. Second >> 70. Um, we we do have a review of policy updates here. >> Yes. In your packet, some of the things that are included are administrative procedures. So, those don't actually need board approval. That's just known as an administrative record. So, the first one has to with administrative grade for your edifications. Uh it's a supplemental procedure and uh it refers to non-traditional students. The second one is policy policy 2A and MSBA has updated this to align policy with the M66 expectations for instructional materials. So that's why we need to approve that policy. Next one again is an administrative bra and has to do with textbooks that are
on file. The next one is a policy that you would have to approve and the language is being updated again standards. The next one again is administrative procedure and talks about district websites meeting all the requirements of the American Disabilities Act. And so those are the items for your consideration. So we have one three that are actually policies. No, you don't have to. No, looks like we just don't haveification. >> Right. You don't have to. So, if you want us to bring this back, I know sometimes you like to look at it twice. The ones we would bring back would be policy QA instructional materials. That's aligning it more. And then the other one would be the instructional media center library aligning that. >> Did you want her to bring that back? We want to
go ahead Greg, >> I make a motion to move us to executive session following 610.021 for three and 13. to include >> Mr. Motion by Derek by David. what you need. >> Do we need to restate that? Yes. >> Thank you all.
