001to the governor's office, get to meet the governor, kind of go through the house, check all that stuff out, which is really exciting. So, you know, you're going to see stuff from football over the next month, month and a half or so as that continues on because you attend Women's State Championship. It's a it's a major accomplishment. It's a deal that you're going to celebrate for quite a while. So, that was a really good really good thing there. Um, grades wise, we just had a great check. I had Heather today. Grades are looking good. Are looking pretty good as we get towards the end of first semester. Um and last week we had the Ted tournament. Marshall won the boys side and on the girls side shootout format this year went really well. A lot
002of lot of teams from different areas came in. Steve's financial report on that final was 5600 profit this year which is up quite a bit from years past that are usually from thousand,000 a whole. So really positive thing there. I think had we not had boys championship going on, we would have had our own basketball team on boys side also on Friday with the Friday shootout portion of it. Didn't have a lot of typical people there because they were in St. Joseph where they should be watching watching the football games. But overall, it was really successful event. A lot of teams that attended have already reached out to attend. ESPN's reached out about possibly covering it next year. So that was pretty exciting. Said that 30 states over 30,000 people watched on the live stream.
003So pretty successful and updates for me. Stephen Stephen has also started working the night which means the evening events and uh he's he's been doing a good job really helped out quite a bit with clean up on football or basketball so far. It's nice to have pleasure to be around seems like person. So excited to have that um person back so you won't have so much clean up on coaches day. >> You know how many colleges were here in the shoot? >> Um total colleges I don't have on on me. Steve has that list. I know there were 12 um D1 schools from my power four conferences. Missou, Illinois, Arkansas, uh Georgia Tech, Baylor, Oklahoma, 11 12 total D1 schools that were here. There was a mix of different ones. There was also some coaches
004that watched online the events. I know Indiana coach watched online. So, I know Greg Wson who's the hub for which is the PYPL program for the state of Missouri. That's a um Nike league that they put 32 teams in across the nation. So division one coaches go to one place. He had came a couple days and talk really highly of it. So he's a good person to have your corner when it comes to that sort of thing. He reached out to us because uh one of the directors DSP reached out to him as contact information >> pretty big accomplishments kept in one one stoplight town. >> It's a pretty busy week. >> I read one of the emails and they said pretty you know they were talking about shootout but it came to me that
005you know the elite tournament say big deal for him. >> There's not any chance that girl from Farmington, Arkansas will be transferring up here to attempted to play for us at all sports. >> Her mom is the coach there. >> Yeah, I know. >> Told her we're always looking for people. >> 56 points. >> Um All right. So we I think have um and you're covering activities. I mean that would be that report as well as you just cover. >> Yeah. So we'll get there. >> Junior high basketball started too. >> So wrestling started last weekend. The football team hasn't been able to start yet because wrestling is a little bit different from basketball. You can't just show up and start wrestling the next day. You gota take your hydration test and they got to
006qualify you for a certain weight. Got to be able to drop a certain amount of pounds. So, got a little bit on safety, but wrestling team maybe looking at next week they'll be able to start wrestling players. So, I know Brian Bruce coach is excited to have both players back because it's been kind of empty with three boys and three girls. So, they're excited to have boys back, too. And Coach Reef, same way. He had a lot of practices with four guys, so I'm sure he'll be excited to have enough kids to actually play five on five now. >> Yeah, first game tomorrow night. >> Yeah, we had over 40 kids out in high school on the last two days. So, it's going around pretty good. So, attendance for December might not look as good
007as November was. >> Uh, okay. Very good. Um, we have a report for uh the elementary side of things. Is there any reports questions about that? >> Oh, >> yeah. Whether you like sports or you don't worked hard on it several weeks, several months I don't know. Questions about it, concerns about it. Thanks, Steve. people from California for sales surrounding communities. They had nothing but good things to say. So I hope continue to do it. hard work everyone else. I would probably add that that's something but Steve better has been contacted by a couple other locations. more than happy to host likely pretty good profit off of it. I talked about able to make a decent amount off of it this year, but feel like with no revenue from live stream, let alone two and
008300 people watching every single game. Add an additional five off of live And your Friday tickets weren't great football game. So Friday would have been like Saturday that it's not always about money. But talking about budget, it's about 10% of your $10,000% athletic budget. That's where it goes back to all kids. All kids have um this is something we've been thinking about a little bit at least I have. So, you know, from a topic perspective that maybe as everything kind of rolls in, get the final numbers on stuff, put it as an open session item for the January meeting. That way some >> that'll you know No, understand. We watched I watched a lot of basketball last weekend. So, we were up there for hours. Pretty pretty amazing stuff. So, okay. Uh move on on
009to the elementary side. We have a report in here. Any questions? We'll move over to >> Mine's not as exciting as the state championship, so I'll keep it brief. Uh changes since this came out to you all. Numbers are kind of holding steady where we are with um our special education count. The ratio is kind of still where it's at. we are in the middle of like the winter season months. We do get to use um Thanksgiving break, Christmas break as exclusionary dates as part of that 60-day timeline. So hopefully we'll be wrapping more of those up come January and February and then we'll start a new round of evaluation. So I did list those numbers and the amount of meetings we've done in November. Um federal programs update. We are in cohort three. So
010it is a tiered monitoring training cycle of all things between McKenna Vento and as you know the parents teachers and then even title one. So um Mrs. Pedigrew did a lot of file upload before she went on maternity leave for title one. So we are covered on that cycle. Um we just had our monitoring with parents as teachers as you all know. Um didn't go as well as we expected. We do have some things to correct and work on. Um, and we won't have the McKenna Vento, the homeless one, until January 31. So, still some things to update. Um, we do have the early childhood screening coming up February 9th at the Typton Elementary School. This is a professional development day for staff and all of special education will be running that screening. So, we
011will use the nurse, our speech language pathologist, all of the paras and fed teachers will be doing the dial 4. It's an assessment screener we use for early childhood. Um, ideally that's going to bring you numbers essentially if we want to explore opening of preschool as a Typton school district. Um, but it will cover PAT screening measures that we have to do and it will cover early childhood child obligations. So multiple stones uncovered and then I added in just a spotlight for our special education uh special Olympics team and unified partner. some pictures and they've done some activities. They're going to have more of those activities coming up after Christmas. They started some school series events, but they'll be doing actual more special Olympics events and unified partners programming come January and February. So, I
012hope to uh showcase them a little bit more as well. We do have currently signed up from the last time I checked when we put out the early childhood screener uh 15 parents signed up for that and that is three and four year olds for that screener. >> Sorry to jump around Jason. You said 40 high schoolers or 40 in the district >> 43 yesterday high school only. At what point do we make a decision to get everyone away from there threshold for? >> There really isn't a magic number. Everybody thinks there's a magic number >> because I know some schools do it, you know, right >> where it becomes a when it become where it becomes an issue is when we start not having enough subs. That's kind of where the oh my gosh.
013So, but we watch it. Uh, nurse Molly monitors it also on the US census that health department. >> I just first I thought he said school then I think about high school that's whole essentially. >> Yeah, it's a quarter of >> Yeah. >> But right now teachers we're okay. >> So that's where the termination run out. So okay >> staff >> just curious. >> Yeah. Good question. Give it to the adults, not the kids. >> But any questions for the administrators? We'll move on to old business. >> Very good. So, first item on old business is approval of the JCA U policy. We looked at this last month. Um, They'll put two different options in front of us essentially with one um allowing for us to consider contractors bids into the district. >> A is
014really just updates from MSBA. Um and B is just a verbage update and B um includes the contractor uh students being allowed to to come in with with the stipulations that are outlined in MSBA. Um we are not we would not be responsible for transportation just like we aren't responsible for transportation with any other tuition based. So those are I brought this back and got everything changed up for you and highlighted. Um, do you have any questions about we come up in the hole? $5,800 on every student that we allow in school. That's not tuition >> at the current tuition rate. Yes. Um, I did do the calculator. uh we can adjust that up higher. That's something that Dr. Whoop and I have talked about. Um that's something that I always try to do. Uh
015because we have to consider our K8s that feed into us. Um we went up to $1,148. I think that's what the work would allow us to charge. I don't expect us to go to that point. We probably should have >> We don't want to price ourselves out, right? >> That's correct. >> Get too high, you're going to have Cross yourself. >> Well, that's a conversation of second semester. That's really how I like to set it working on their budget. Right. And that's done annually what they're charging. And so really tonight, option A is just holding to where we're at. Um and then option B would add in the contract for students. Um, you know, this is an opinion. Um, help me get my person home for them to, but my opinion would be since you
016have a new superintendent coming in. Maybe that let them get acclimated to some things before we start making a bigger jump. Um, holding to option A when we get the new person in, then this will be it's easier to add add on take away. But that's just an opinion mine that didn't work any discussion on this a lot about it. But we're going to what is we're going to have all the money if you will. Not that it's free. I understand the importance of all that, but I don't see how we can possibly just give something away. Um, that's my personal out contractors want to, you know, offer a solution to where they're going to discount services in gratus uh to that to offset the cost to us looking at it that way but don't
017see how we could take even more money out of our budget $5,800 if you know 10 students that gets into quite a Hey, >> you're probably going >> I agree to to myself to help, but I also think You know, we're always about trying to keep the best of the best. We want the best administrators. We want the best teachers. You know, you can't teach them or give them to school. You can't even get them. So my thought kind of I think on the line is can we do instead of you know the 7500 can we do like a reduced rate set that ourselves that you know it wouldn't be a full price >> that's a different would be a different conversation. This would just allow them to enroll these this policy would allow them
018to enroll. Um the tuition would come in play. I'm saying >> if we allow them to enroll under option B, >> okay, >> can we stipulate, you know, a reduced rate? >> Can they cover the gap essentially >> or at least part of it? You know, you know, if we're out, say we're even number $6,000 per student, would there be a way we can stipulate maybe half that or something or something to kind of help, you know, hey, you you're working for us. We appreciate it. We want to help keep, you know, good members for OPA and Mint and Durham. Would you help bridge the gap or, you know, to get your there's a reason they want to come to Tiffan? Would, you know, if if I'm sending my kid to Tiffan, there's a reason
019they want to come. I will go a little extra if it wasn't you know, it's not full rate tuition. So, they're they're winning by working for us, but at the same time, they're putting in the effort to keep their kid in school. That's what they feel is a better school. >> Tuition conversation would be separate conversation regulation that first step would be You want to do status quo for now. We'll talk about regulations that you might want to do regarding or because this doesn't stipulate. This just allows >> but I think what you're saying is when we when we looked at tuition >> well I think we'd have to we have to adopt option If if we were to say allow >> it does and then you said option A says they can't at all.
020So in order for them to even Yeah, you're right. It doesn't say anything about the issue with you. I think she's saying >> this says We want to do you want to allow contractors. I think we need to have that conversation separate from this policy regulation because this policy says they can come out >> you don't charge them anything >> but yeah it's a tough situation because if you if you I'm not sure I even agree with option B anyway but um if you were to just choose option A you can't even have the tuition You can always >> Okay, I got you. >> And you can look at a now and see how the budget shakes out as the budget season progresses to kind of see, okay, are we looking as we dive into
021what starts giving us some numbers next year and then visit down both sides of it, but I also don't want to be sitting here looking in March and saying, "Hey, we all these teachers. It's kind of a chess game with all our money, right? We might see where we're sitting after auction. They can still come here. Only way they don't actually. >> They're all coming now. So, what does the board want to do? >> What you want to do? >> I would like We don't have any just >> I have no inquiries of contractors other than one. >> I remember the one we talked about last year. >> I have not had anyone. Okay. Well, maybe we can ask it this way. Does anyone feel like we should take contractors towards That's I think that's
022ultimately the answer because if you choose option A second what's the >> for people expend about 126. You're getting we would the difference about that we picking up local we would if we got a contractor we would be eligible by this policy and we would that's after we And that's not you can look at option A talking maybe make some sort of concession there for contractors >> that would That' be somewhat of a hybrid of what you're talking about >> and then allowing us to move forward with getting our >> All does is change up some I think that's where I'm at too. Where do you guys at least not know >> that method It's not like we're not >> I mean we can like I said we can we can do what we want.
023I want to make a motion. We can always put a vote to it. See where I want that. All in favor? That is 6 to one. Thank you. Okay. Um, now we have a calendar. >> Yes. So this is a real quick um discussion. When we met last time u we had um picked around going into March 12th uh under the adisement of um our admin team. We're looking at that calendar switching December 5th to March 12th. That's a summer or a spring showcase uh day. However, um that next day I heard of our FFA sponsors a statewide event here in our school and so that's like already been in the works. It's all planned for. So I provide you a little calendar here at the at your space. Um December 5th has an X
024on it. February 16th, which is President's Day, would be the day that I recommend that we would come back in. Currently February 16th is a nonstaff n student day. December 5th was a student and staff day. That's just a total wash. Yeah. Just flip them over and we're good. Good to go. And then that allows spring showcases still happen. Allows FFA to be able to host their statewide event. >> Any questions? Motion by Craig, >> second by David. >> Um, all in favor that is 70. And then we're into new business. We have a presentation lifesaver presentation. I'm not put anything in 2018 law 170.311 was passed um and that um that law covers a couple of things. All state in the state of Missouri all school boards needed to hear a presentation on um
025um supporting material that would allow for organ tissue and eye donation. Your function is to listen to the presentation. It's a video. That's why I'm standing up here. We'll show the video and then I just need a decision, a a motion made. If you want to either you're in favor of allowing the students to hear this information, a lesson plan is provided to the teachers. I spoke with the secondary. It's just for high school kids. Um, and they don't have to participate. Uh, and it would most likely be during health class is what I was hearing from Jason today. You can either vote in favor of allowing kids to hear the information or not to have the kids hear the information and parents can also access the information from their home also. So, it's a
026real short video. Hopefully, it's still buffered. And here we go. It's like four minutes. I'm the co-founder and director of education for Gift of Life in Kansas City. >> Stop. Okay. I'm gonna have to Let's stop her. I've got microphone on and I'm gonna Can you have tell Kelly I'll come back to him. >> Yeah, Kelly. >> I can't do both. I think Kelly. >> Okay, there we go. Four minutes. But due to the large number of school districts, presenting in person is nearly impossible. So please accept this video presentation as a substitute for me being there in person. For the next five minutes, I will share information about learnifesavers.com which is a free unbiased 30inut online teacher self-guided lesson which provides education about organ, eye, and tissue donation. High school students need to be
027educated about donation when they apply for or renew their driver's license. And sharing their decision with a loved one is the most important step regarding donation. The goal of learners.com is to educate students about the question, do you want to be a donor? So when they apply for their driver's license or state ID, they can make an informed decision. This educational effort about donation is for lives saved and healed through organ eye and tissue donation. For the individuals waiting for a life-saving or life healing transplant and for individuals who die every day waiting for a life-saving transplant. Learnifesavers.com was developed to educate all students in the state of Missouri about donation. Learnlifesavers.com is eight easy steps in 30 minutes. Teachers will engage their students with provided questions and statements. Then they will show a short
028video. Then the teachers will ask students true false questions and the students will answer verbally. The teachers will then show a second short video. Ask students true false questions and the students answer verbally. Additional resources are provided for teachers to enhance student learning. And at the end of the lesson, there's an easy way to report basic data which includes teachers name and email, school name and address, class subject, number of students reached, and the date learnifesavers.com was presented. No information is collected about students, and the collected data is never shared. This data is important for tracking outcomes. There's also an option for a student self-guided lesson. Learnifesavers.com relates to specific grade level expectations and aligns with the Missouri learning standards, giving your school district the flexibility to provide the education in one or more subject
029areas or courses. Learnifesavers.com may be used in health science or even partnered with the CPR mandate. You know your school community, therefore you should decide where it fits best in your high school. learnifesavers.com may be used in all high school grade levels. Within the supporting materials that have been provided is a list of school districts in Missouri that are educating their high school students about organ eye and tissue donation. I've also provided commonly asked questions regarding organ donation. After the board votes, your superintendent will complete the letter of participation form and send it to me for our records. My husband and I founded the nonprofit Gift of Life located in Kansas City 25 years ago. Learnifavers.com was modeled after our Lifesavers high school program which offers in-person presentations. Gift of Life has educated over 450,000
030high school students and their families. Our son Luke received a life-saving liver transplant at 11 months old. He was given two years to live without an organ donor. He will soon turn 29. I will be forever grateful to his donor family for giving him a second chance. Missouri can be a national leader in educating high school students about organi and tissue donation. Please vote in favor to implement learnlifesavers.com because together we can save one life at a time >> that's the presentation. >> All right. >> Well, we would vote to see if I have thoughts on this. I'll let everyone else >> I don't know any answers other than the presentation. Um your little but I can try to answer and kids can opt out. Come in. It's much like many of the other programs.
031Parents can come in and take a look at it. It's on a website. Um they can look at it from home. Um they can opt in their kid out. That's what you >> like presentation >> because it has to be all high school kids only sophomores >> say that it has to be all high school kids. >> All high school kids. So health is only taught at the sophomore level. So we would have to do a presentation different grades groupings and find a time to do that. For those who haven't opted out, >> what make a motion? >> Well, I mean, as a school, >> you look like you seems like this is what we >> You were just ready. >> Yeah. Yeah. You said you had strong thoughts. Interestbody else. >> Yeah. I mean,
032I'm a allin person on older generation >> and I like I think that as a school we're supposed to be educating people. This calls for us to do that. So, I think this is no. >> Is there I think so that we don't set some sort of precedence. I I completely um organ donations a gift of love. Um it's a stressful time for a lot of people but I think uh so that we as a school board don't get a lot of these or open ourselves up to a whole bunch of stuff. The main reasons also is this was in partnership with uh DESIE Department of Health Senior Services, Mid America Transplant, Midwest Transplant, Missouri School Boards Association, all organizations that we follow along with. And um they wouldn't put themselves in a place um
033that wasn't strong educational support. So that's why I hope that we make a motion that we go ahead and approve this that we can our kids can opt in or out of seeing it. >> It'll be it'll be their choice. I mean >> yes, >> you know, it's just like any of us sitting here. It's your choice. Amanda, we got a motion by right and second by all in favor. Okay, that is a 61. >> Okay. >> Not not that I don't agree with the first That's a conversation. I don't feel like it's just that's right. I mean your first statement I agree with because I am I >> get it. All right, let's move on to uh classified stats. >> Yeah. Um January 1st um the Missouri minimum wage law is going at $15
034an hour. So, uh, I know, um, I went ahead and sent this out to y'all and got three highlighted columns. Uh, we bumped them up to the first step as 15 so that we comply with the law. >> Like another no-brainer vote for us. >> So, we got a follow. We have a motion by >> second by Craig Amanda. I'm sorry. All in favor is 70. Um, so that'll get us through open session. We are go back into close session. I don't think anyone else. So >> I make a motion to move us to close session or executive session following. 1 0.021 with I forgot my numbers. >> 3613 >> 36. >> All right, we got a motion by Derek, a second by David, Amanda. >> Yes. >> Greg Derek, >> yes. >> David Grant,
035>> yes. >> Kelly, >> yes. >> That is 70. Thank you all for coming. >> Thank you, guys. >> Hey, guys.
