We will have you all come up. Thank you. >> Hello. Thank you for having us. we'd love to come and share all the chapter activities that we've got going on. Um we have several members that are here. Um and our officers are going to be doing the presentation. So um I'm going to turn it over to Bri, our president. You want to come over here? Hello. I am the president of our FBA chapter. That stands for Future Business Leaders of America. So, I'll let the rest of my officers introduce themselves. >> All right. So, our 2025 2026 national theme for our

future business leaders of America is make your mark. This is our goal for FBA. What we hope to achieve during our business year. Um and then our officer team I will have to um as you know Bri is president I am Jasmine Davis I am the vice president I am the charter >> I'm at which is our parliament >> um and then Dearis is currently circling the campus. She's lost. >> Yes, >> I even provided a pin so I don't know. >> And our is our second >> Ryan just wants to show off his suit. >> All right. The Delta The Delta uh represents FA's commitment to the ideas of service, education, and progress. All right. So, these are our service events that we do. A big part of being an FBLA, as Kate mentioned,

one of our parts of the Delta is service. So, every month we do a different ser service project for the community. So, in October, we did a community event. We did the trunk or treat held at our high school. And then um in November we did the food drive for the local food pantries in Marshall. And then December we did a toy drive. And then in January we us got school supplies from all of our students and donated those um to kids who might not have school supplies halfway through the year. In February, we made Valentine's Day cards for nursing homes and then took them around to all of those nursing homes. And in March, we plan to make dog toys for the Selen County Animal Week. >> All righty. So, as um our president

said, we also do a lot of business tours. We go on um activities that we um go to. We went to Silver Dollar City for our career day. Um we were in different places learning about how it comes out as a business. Um I get I got to meet the human relations that uh put everything together and it was just an amazing experience. But we had different career days that we also go to that was some of those sitting. We also went to the uh the stadium of the Chiefs. Um we learned the backgrounds of a lot of what plays in the role of how these businesses work. Um, we also went on the Columbia business tour recently. Um, in this one we went to an insurance company which is the shelter insurance and we

went to the Columbia Mall and we also went to um the Ku. And in this um business tour, we learned a lot about businesses, especially in the shelter industry. I never thought that there would be so many jobs. They also have like a whole game area. Um, and also in the Columbia Mall, we learned a lot about the mall in general and how they work. So, this is something that I started doing um when I came here. I like my students to see the different opportunities there are for employment for um everyday businesses. you know, these kids go to the mall, but they don't think about what it takes for the mall to actually run. Uh, from the point of the leasing um office that runs the mall, um, they found out that the mall

opened in 1984, the year I was a freshman, they were astounded by that. Um, but they they, you know, just just like how did how do they choose which stores to go in there? The thing that the the man told us was you want to stay relevant and and so when you see there was a what is it? Mini what? Mini. So, >> oh yeah, mini. >> Yeah, mini. I I didn't know what it was. I mean, I see it on Tik Tok and stuff, but that is a very relevant store and to have it there. I mean, I was like, every time I walked by, there was a different group of kids in there for my group and I'm like, yes, this is relevant to them, you know. Um >> uh whenever we went

to meet with the executive uh the person who runs the um the Columbia Mall, we also learned on how how much time and how much effort it takes to have these businesses come to that specific mall. He also talked about like the competition where he had places like uh across the mall which he talked about >> where Trader Joe's is. >> Yes. where Trader Joe's was for people go over there and then they would transfer to go to the club. He talked about how the competitive like it just would work together is what he was talking about. I thought it was a good >> So now these are our uh our progress. This is uh everything that we have gotten in the last couple years from summer starter all the way to champions and >>

all right. So >> we uh earn these different distinctions throughout Missouri and through national chapters. These are recognitions that our specific chapter can get through doing activities throughout the year. So, if we send in a 10-minute business episode uh video explaining what is the best thing about FBLA or if we run a certain amount of activities during our FBLA meetings, then we can meet these requirements to get this summer starter, which is where we do enough activities before the school year even starts to get that uh recognition um national or statewide. We have gotten the gold level um chapter in 2023, 2024, 2025. And if you want to turn the slide, we now have it for our 2526 school year as well by meeting all of these requirements throughout the year. Um SECCC FBLA is

one of the 58 chapters to earn this award out of 450 chapters statewide. So, it's a great honor to have this Missouri chapter of the year gold. You want to um we also have gotten champion chapter um success. So these these are our summer starter shaping success and service season and now even our local business campaign um award where we put local businesses on our social media and spotlight them and uh support our local businesses here in Marshall and we can get points to earn recognition for our chapter through these things and through this stuff through our community. So, and then another part of our progress in our Delta, so we went over service and education. And then another part of our progress is our food truck day, which a lot of you may be

familiar with. Um, so basically our 2025 food truck day. um we try and find sponsors for this and um we try and find just chapter sponsors in general to help support our um FBLA chapter. So um we've had all of these collaborations in the past. These are where we do presentations for different local uh chapters. So the Optimus International, American Legion, we go to um these uh organizations and we basically just give this exact same slideshow telling them what we have done throughout the year, what we have met, the recognition that we've gotten and then ask for sponsors. >> And with all these recognitions that we are having, we're not only learning from our experience, but we're also meeting new people and we're networking and we're having as well. >> There is a lot of

times where we think that all of our recognition, we build everything up as we go. And it's a fun experience, not only to be a part of this, but with my FBA officer team, I've had the most fun this year. >> And speaking of fun, going back to our food truck day, so this is our biggest uh fundraiser for FBLA, one of our only fundraisers for FBLA. So, we actually contact these businesses, run the whole day, work on the food trucks. Last year, I got to work on Riley's Rolling Kitchen and it was a fun experience to have that hands-on um work experience and to help run and manage the whole event and get to be there and direct the food trucks. Hey, you come and park right here. It was it was really a

good learning experience for us and helped us to get funding. So, one of the things I want to say about the the food truck day. This is in collaboration with my entrepreneurship class. Um, this is our sixth annual We had to move it this year because somebody put graduation on our normal day. I I don't I don't know about that. Um, but this is a fantastic day. The entrepreneurship class, they do all of the contacting of the trucks. Um, they choose who they want to come. They invite them. Uh, they try email first, uh, Messenger, uh, Instagram. And then if they don't get a a response, they they they have to pick up the phone and they have to dial the number and they have to talk to people, you know, or leave a message.

That was a trip. Um, but you know, those are life skills that they need to learn how to do. And so we have most of our vendors, we have some new ones this year. They're really excited. Um, but this right here, you can see the twisted flavors lemonade. that is a studentrun business um with our culinary students and our entrepreneurship and FBA students. So they not only are running it, but they have a a vendor spot there and then they learn, you know, customer service and and how to make the lemonade and they come up with the menu and all the special flavors and everything. So they're they're literally in control of that. Um but yeah, May 1st, please mark your calendar 11 to 6. We loved everybody coming out and um it's always a

very fun day. We're all exhausted when it's over, but it's a good day for the kids and for our community as well because it brings out so many people in our community. >> And to add on to what Mr. just said about our um twisted tea lemonade stand, last year I got to run part of it. So I uh it's a >> Twisted flavors. It was actually a really cool experience because not only was somebody running it for me, but I got to um learn how to make lemonade. You know, I've never I never thought how to make lemonade. So, it was pretty fun for me. >> Um to continue with progress, we also go to contest and we compete in different events. So, our contest goes all the way from districts which we have

in uh in Chila Coffee. Yeah. and then our state contest which we can then go to and advance to in Springfield and then hopefully some of us will make it to nationals which is in San Antonio, Texas this year. So we compete in various different events. These can be presentation events. These can be tests that we take about uh many careers because business future business leaders of America business can be anything. So these kids take tests on anything from healthc care to journalism to um financial like law and um I personally love the presentation events. I do public speaking and impromptu speaking and these events really help us to motivate ourselves to learn these skills. So through competing in these things it makes us a fun way to learn these skills and study for these

tests and create these presentations. This year we uh everybody participated in at least one dis uh district event and we have 19 students going to state in 27 events. >> And uh going on about that amount of members we have and that amount of participation we have. We have 46 members this year and we have multiple different ways of these members uh collaborating and learning from each other and networking with each other. Our first ever activity was our buddy up activity where we all sat in a long row in the hallway and it was like speed dating in a way where we would every 30 seconds move and talk to a new person and ask them questions like why did you join FBLA or what do you want to do in the future? And then

we got to learn about all 46 members really well that night. And we do other things like our uh trunk or treat like we explain one of our service activities and these are just fun ways for our members to collaborate and get to know each other. So our basic is creating leaders for life. Uh these kids are doing things at an age that I wouldn't have done. I was too shy if you can believe that. um seeing them grow from their freshman, sophomore, junior, senior years and flourishing and then going on um to bigger and better. Um I have to share uh one of my well my president from last year, she emailed me this morning and she said uh she is at where's she at? Springfield. She is in Springfield at college and she

is in FLA collegiate and she emailed me. She said, "Miss Crumball, I am going to nationals in Las Vegas. I placed first in state in um her event and so she gets to go to Las Vegas and so she's continuing her FBA journey in college and so that's I love getting those type of emails you know seeing the success while they're in high school and then carrying it on into the the future. So we are truly creating leaders for life. We do have a Facebook and Instagram if you would like to follow us. We try to keep those updated. So >> do you all have any questions for us? We truly support u appreciate the support we get from the board. We >> Is this something you could join as a freshman or is there

an age? >> Uh freshman. Yeah. Okay. The thing about FLA is that you don't actually have to be in a business class um to join FA. It is open to all high school students. So, um I have a lot of people in FLA that I never see. Um so, we try to keep, you know, in in contact through all the avenues, you know. Um, but yeah, they don't they don't have to be in a business class, whereas some of the other ones you have to uh be in a class in that department, but and I tell my my tours and stuff that come being in as many things as as you can. If you're an FFA, join FBA because a is a business. You know, you're going to learn a lot of skills. Some of

them are going to overlap and and you can just go farther in in in your success. So, yeah. >> Thank you all very much. Thanks all of you for coming and we'll see you on May the 1st. >> All right, sounds good. Thank you so much. >> Thank you all. >> Next, we will pause for a few moments for public comment. If if you all would like to leave FBLA students, I know the business of the district is not probably always the favorite part, but it it is a business, right? >> So, thank you all for your time, but you're welcome to step out if you like, or you're welcome to sit down and stay and and talk more about the district. Hopefully that's supporting you. >> Thank you, Mrs. Crumball. >> Thank you all.

>> Thank you. >> Good job. Nice job. Nice job. >> And seeing no one move up towards public comment, we will be going to Mrs. Jackie Marshall who will give us an update on Luck of the Irish. That was this last weekend. I did not receive a phone call or a text from her. So, I did see that somebody else was the winner this year. So, miss me being able to donate back. >> All right. Hello. Hello. And I love that it's sunshine at 6 o'lock in the evening. You know, that's one great part about daylight savings. So, we come to you tonight not as teachers um but rather as representation of a senior parent committee for those of you not um have not had the opportunity to be involved with project graduation or luck

of the Irish. Those of you who are lucky enough to have been, you know, it takes a lot of work and a lot of dedication. And this is we are definitely dedicated to supporting our children as seniors and the entirety of the senior class who um we provide a celebration for them that brings our community together. And we're thankful for the opportunity to share tonight about our luck of the Irish and project graduation events. They enhance our high school community and spirit and reflect the commitment of the board of education to provide and maintain a safe and supportive environment fostering academic success, confidence, and well-being of all the students. So, we kind of feel like that fills right into the funnel of what the board of education stands for. And as parents and senior parents

specifically with a few of those in our committee that came to support tonight um we want to tell you about what we provide. And first of all project graduation. I am surprised of all the people that ask what is project graduation? What is this? What is luck of the Irish? So I thought we need to present. We need to share what this means. And so to tell you that for almost three decades now, Project Graduation has successfully ensured a safe, fun environment for all of the MHS seniors that attend on one of the most important nights of their life. Okay. Um, since the early 1990s, Project Graduation has been a hallmark event providing entertainment space for graduates from 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. on graduation night. We've previously hosted that at Missouri Valley College. They've

been gracious enough to open that up to us. This year, we're moving into MHS due to some scheduling issues, but it's going to be great. The high school's opening it up. We've made it work. And we're going to fill the high school, the commons, the gymnasium, the breezeway, and probably the little theater as well with all the fun stuff we have. Um, the event features inflatables rented and managed by long-standing partner out of Springfield, Missouri. They will kids will have get to have some laser tag, a hypnotist show. That's always a big fun event, culminating event of the night. Um, definitely ensuring an unforgettable night for all of our graduates. Additionally, this year we're going to include a casino room, um, a photo booth, and some karaoke. Since we're going to have the stage, so

we thought we'd open up the stage for some karaoke, maybe some, you know, open mic. You never know what what we'll bring out in these senior kids. Snacks and drinks are also provided throughout the event to make sure that they have a fun time and want to stay throughout. Use of funds. So, this is what we also do to encourage them to come and stay because you know what brings kids out but food, drinks, and prizes, right? So, we're going to give them some prizes. We have raised funds. Thank you to those of all of the senior parents who have helped out and been a committee. Those of you who have know who you are and who if you have in the past, thank you to those who have in the past. Um we those

funds raised are crucial to provide all that entertainment. Um allows for all the attendees to be awarded a prize when they come and they're going to get they're going to walk out with things like laptops, televisions, small appliances that they might need to start off once they've graduated, independent living staples, and of course cash. They love cash. So, they're going to get some cash, some gas cards, some all the good things. Hopefully, this encourages them to attend, right? So, because each and every graduate, I'm going to make sure that everyone knows that you have to be in attendance at Project Graduation to attend and to receive a a prize. We do recently in recent years, they've opened the doors to guests because we know some seniors might like to bring along a friend. So, they

could bring a guest ranging between a high school junior age 20. We've worked really diligently with the high school administration to make sure those rules are stood by. You know, we have a great committee, like I said, of parents who keep that rolling. Um, we communicate the opportunity through student emails, flyers, social media, Kinvo, which also promotes um, parental awareness. Hopefully, we put it out there on I said social media, so Facebook, right? Historically, we've had about 125 students attend out of the graduating class. if we average that over the last five years and they've brought along 50 guests who they pay um to come along. So, it's really nice to have that um opportunity for them and have a fun night with that night and encouraging attendance. We had a really amazing offer this

year to join with Missouri Valley College to give what I'm going to explain and some people who were in attendance to Luck of the Irish Saturday night were able to hear about this opportunity for a senior and hopefully we are excited to hand this out at Project Graduation Night. We on behalf of Dr. Joe Pereizy. The college is excited to offer an incredible opportunity to one lucky senior. The scholarship represents not just financial support, but the commitment to nurturing our local talent for a Marshall High School senior. Um, the lucky winner will be drawn as one of the prizes at Project Grad. And what is this prize, you probably ask? It is a one-year full tuition scholarship to attend Missouri Valley College. So, we know not every senior has plans to go to Missouri Valley

and that's okay, but there probably are that haven't decided yet on what they want to do or they have plans to go to Missouri Valley and it's a great opportunity for them and we just feel lucky enough to have been presented with that. So, thank you Derek who actually helped promote that and um we just you know our senior parent committee is amazing and we thank you guys for that. But I do want to say that as we talked tonight, um, you asked project gr, that's a lot of money to pay for all of these things and how is it funded. So how it's funded, that's a simple not so simple part of what we did as a committee. So I'm going to let Carrie talk about that. >> So Saturday we wrapped up our

annual, this is our 20th annual luck of the Irish dinner. Um, it's a, this memorial event unfolds at Marshall High School, which is the hub of the community spirit. Let's see. This event takes place in March. Historically, we had 430 carry out mills. We started those at 4:30 and then we had 108 dine in mills that started at 6:30. Um, and those that dined in were seated in a beautiful decorated room. We also live streamed the event. If you do purchase a luck of the Irish ticket, you get two prime rib prime rib dinners and you get a one and 300 chance to win the grand prize, which is $10,000. Um, plus there's other monetary winnings throughout the evening. Let's see, we also had a guest MC who very graciously took that offer last minute.

It was Derek again. Um, and then we had our senior class president, Saxon Post, MC that night. So, we gave out um a total of $11,130 in prize money that e or Saturday evening. We had one prize of $130, 10 prizes of $50. Two of those were donated back and we'll use those for prizes for project graduation. We had two $250 prizes and then the big $10,000 prize. And also the Chamber of Commerce um gave us a gift package to give away as well. So, um, with only 300 tickets available, each ticket holds a higher chance of winning, making it, um, a great opportunity to win that money. Student involvement, we had over 40 kids that showed up and they worked their tails off. They did whatever we asked them to do and cleaned up

and the the meat cutting station, they made it super super clean. They worked really hard. And then community involvement. Um, this event is a testament to our community as a unity. Local businesses have long made this possible. We are immensely grateful to all sponsors and community members for the unwavering support. So, we'd like to read off some of the community members and places that help support this event. So, first of all, with ticket sales, Green Printers printed and donated all of that for us. biking, athletic goods, community bank, wooden Houston, Mtown Graphics, and Simple Realy all sold tickets for us. Then for food and other donations to go along with the food preparation, napkins, uh, clamshells, all of that fun stuff. Konagra donated, Texas Roadhouse, our SF SF food service provider here at Marshall Public

Schools donated, and a special shout out to Amanda Watkins and Brooke Morales at the high school. They were phenomenal help as well. Chef Reyes and the Sling County Career Center culinary class, Matt Smith and Buds Cafe, and then Greg Swift and his crew. They smoked all the prime rib and had it tasting yummy for us. Some monetary donations were from Central Missouri Agra Service, Exchange Bank, Wooden Houston Bank, Bayer Crop Science, and Le Studio, Lee's Studio. And then publicity, we had KMO, Marshall Democrat News, McGraw Designs, Pam Heinsler, and Kelly Kalinan helped us communicate with the parents and the students. And then Travis Reed and NPS for helping or letting us use the Facebook groups and putting it on there for us. I'll wrap up with a few last um sponsors that we had. We

already said that one. Fitzgibbon Foundation. you know, to say on top of all of that, this wouldn't happen, like I said, with the parent committee, senior parents really step up and do this for our kids. And then having the community come in to help us as well. It's just a tradition that makes my heart happy. And to see the kids give back and the reciprocity that it gives them to feel good and then provide this for them. So, you know, not only thanking the kids, the parents, but also the community and the support and the board and the administration, but Jenkins Market helped decorate, Marshall Knights of Columbus helps, and then the students. Um, can't say that enough. Wesley Christian, thank you very much. He, you know, without it, we wouldn't have a lot of

what happens that night. You know, we put up on the on the wall, it's it's a raffle. It's that countdown raffle of 300. And when you get to that number 300, it's great. So without the technology support that he gives us, we would kind of be lost, right? Um Anchor Point, they do do great things. Marina Paralta, I think I've shouted out just about everybody. Um Brett Claus, he is the senior class sponsor and he has really helped us communicate with the seniors. So we're really grateful for him as well. So if you guys see any of these people out and about, just let them know how great it is that they're supporting the seniors and what we can give for them. It's just it's a night and it's not only luck of the Irish,

but the project grad night is just something that the kids really look forward to. And yes, we will make sure that I have it in my notes for whatever parent committee takes it over next year that the board will be talked to before the luck of the Irish night. That way we don't miss out on anybody getting a ticket. So, thank you so much for all your support and allowing us to come share what the night is. So, thank you. Any questions? >> Thank you guys for what you did. I was there enjoying dinner and saw a lot of hard work from you all too. So, thank you. I appreciate it. And thanks. >> Next year I'm going to win. I can just feel it here. >> Again, thank you all. So, uh that that

plug at the end for the board uh may have put us on the spot with that, but I bought a ticket every year and I usually get approached like the second day and I had to chase her down this year. So, um I I actually bought ticket 297. And I wrote that down because out of 300 I was about the last thing going that night. But uh it is a great thing our community to support as well as uh um to give back and as well as there's a lot of moving parts. So thank you for coordinating this year and next year senior parents uh please uh feel free to step up and accept that challenge. Uh that road's been laid pretty heavy and pretty wide before you. So >> Mr. Rinky, we're ready for

the deputy report. Thank you, sir. >> I would like to also say thank you. I know it's a lot of work to put one of those events on and um as always the meal was great and so if you have not tried the meal definitely do that and as always I did not win either this year but that's okay. So um seems like a lot's going on. It's March in education and it's always busy but I'll try to keep keep my presentation what I have on the agenda short tonight. Um, so tonight what you will have is our uh approval of next year's school calendar 2026 27. I'm going to talk about that a little bit. And as always in March we approve our capital for CIP approve our capital outlay plan and our technology

plan. And then uh we would on the agenda tonight is also an adoption uh of a resolution for the Selen County mitigation plan. I'll talk about that just for a second. So, um the proposed 202627 school calendar, it was in your board packet um for you guys to review and approve tonight. Uh there's been kind of some devel or development and and of this calendar. Um so, initially, this is how we've been working the calendar development with our with our staff. uh initial survey was sent out back in October, November um to get some feedback and we did have our assistant principles in our buildings um be on our calendar committee to help go through that. Some of the things that we wanted to keep for going into next year was the 169 student days

uh to try to get the or to get the DESIE incentive if that does come. Um and and just for the the student learning um starting after the state fair and trying to end before Memorial Day. Uh that made it um pretty tough this year. Uh but that's that's okay. We're going to work through it. Um the calendar committee worked through all those holiday breaks, professional development days, and so we landed this year with our PD days. We kind of switched it up just a little bit. We do have seven full PD days. Those are mostly in the beginning of the school year and then when we come back from Christmas break and then we have seven half days sprinkled out throughout the calendar. Um we also I'll show you in a second how we

did the graduation survey and the final vote. So after all the development, we actually had three calendars uh developed. Um draft one, draft two, draft three, all three drafts went out for to the entire uh Marshall Public School staff for a vote. And then that's how we came up with the one to propose tonight. Um, so the three drafts, um, they're fairly different. I'm not going to lie. I don't like or I like the calendar, but it's a little it's it's lopsided this year just because of the late start with the semester. There's so many more days in the back half, and that just could not be avoided this year. Um, also, you know, with testing, it's probably going to sneak up on us next year. um because even though the weeks rolled back, they're

not going to probably move the testing windows, but we'll we'll deal with it. Um so 50.9% of the votes, we had 169 responses, which is pretty good. Um so that's why draft 3 will come to the board for approval tonight. Um also graduation, we have talked about graduation, I think starting last year. Um and I think Mother's Day always kind of comes into play with that. Uh, and so it was proposed last year that we have graduation on Friday. We took that out to a vote for well be this year's seniors. Um, and then they the vote won to put it on Friday. This year we did the same thing with this year's juniors for next year's graduation on the days that it would fall. And for next year's graduation, um over half of the

votes of the people that responded between the seniors and the parents, um so uh voted for Sunday, May 16th. So next year we'll or for next year we'll move back to a Sunday graduation. So does anybody have any questions on on the approval of the next year's school calendar? >> No, sir. I'm just thinking the year after that. Can we put Saturday on as an option as well? >> Saturday graduation >> just for the next group of people to do a Friday, Saturday or Sunday option instead of just Friday or Sunday. >> Sure. >> Yeah. Might Yeah, we can do that. So, um that'll be no problem. Okay. Um any other questions? All right. Um moving on. On your agenda, it is also to approve our capital outlay plan and our technology plan. We have

done this um every year. Uh according to our CSIP, these documents probably look very familiar. They are really working documents. As we go on, you'll probably see a few items from last year that we didn't get done yet. Rolls over to this year. Then with the additions, uh so we do that for our capital outlay and our technology. And I also starting to add concrete because that's one thing throughout our district that we really need to start focusing on um with with some funds. And it's going to take a while, but uh we need a good plan and and that's what we're going to do. So, I'm not going to read this whole list. It's been in your board packet, but I will do I will hit a couple of the big things that we're

going to try to do for next year. Um I want to replace some doors at the high school. We have three or four doors that are needing to replace. And then um in conjunction with what Mr. Pett is going to talk about on ASI 24, uh we're still trying to add some fencing for safety on the north east campus around the new school and then Spainhower. Uh that's going to be a focus as we get going. Uh next this summer, we're really trying to do the Spain. There's four Spain bathrooms and that really need to be updated for the kids. So, we'd like to get those done and then possibly look at um not a wood floor, but doing something with the gym floor in there. And then once we get that done, Spainhower will

be really updated um you know, for the future. Um roof replacements are on here. Always something that we need to continue to to look at. So, that's the big things in the capital outlay plan. Not all the pricing's in here because all the pricing hasn't came back yet. Um, but this will just continually continually go. Um, concrete plan. I'm not going to read through all that, but as a board, you can kind of look through that. We do have a pricing structure. Um, but it's going to be kind of get something done and just kind of keep on keep on going and trying to chip away at some of the stuff. We'll eventually have to get into the high school parking lot. U, that is going to be a beast in itself. So, uh, technology

outlay plan. We talked about this the last four years. I think my first year or second year here, we I worked really hard with CTS and Keeper to get on a good rotation to keep our technology um updated. I mean, Chromebooks basically four or five years and they're outdated. So, um we've done a really good job with that. Uh and so with our technology plan, I'm still going to recommend um we do uh continue the Chromebook rotation within the fifth grade up and then our ninth graders coming in and then it just kind of rotates out. Uh and then that also allows us with damaged Chromebooks and everything. When those rotate out, we keep and then so if a kid or a student breaks theirs, we have a replacement and we can work through that

with them. um security cameras. We're continually adding security cameras throughout the district. Uh that's on our technology outlay plan. Um and just continue continue updating those and and adding in some of our blind spots. And then with just our Chromebook or our uh projectors and our interactive display boards, we try to add a few of those each year throughout the buildings. Uh computer teachers or our our teacher computers, it will be Beaker Middle School that will get updated this year. So, and then after beaker is done, I believe most of our teachers have we got on a good schedule and a good rotation to update those. So, that is the our technology plan in a nutshell on those two things. Does anybody have any questions that I could answer? >> Is that a total cost

or is the rate? >> E- rate covers some of that up top 80%. So actually our e- rate this this year is it's going to be about 118 but it's going to cost the district 23 that we approve. This down here that is a total cost that is with everything technology wise that we do hardware networking um it is it is basically everything in a nutshell. So technology is not cheap. And then that's our internet um all of our uh securely our um >> continued CTS contracts that we voted on for next year and such. >> Yep. Okay. Anybody else? One last thing. Um, also on your agenda is the Selen County mitigation plan resolution and I asked the board to approve that uh tonight. I believe it is every five years that Selen County

does this and Greg Woodwing uh has been our safety and security coordinator um and myself have been attending some of the meetings uh with other Selen County agencies and um basically this is in case of emergency if we have any natural disaster uh in Selen County, tornadoes, flooding, whatever could happen, hopefully not um this this is the plan they're developing and I believe they're updating and and getting all the agencies together. But what this does is it it is will tell them that as a Marshall School Board, we want to be a part of that. And then also I I'm going to recommend we be part of it because if something does happen, we need to be part of that in order to get any FEMA funding as a public entity. So it is in

our best interest to be part of that just in case anything happens. So does anybody have any questions on that? All right, that is all I have tonight. Thank you very much. Thank you. Thank you, Mr. Rinkey. We'll move to the report from Mr. Pettit. Now, our superintendent Pettit. While he's loading up, I participated in MSBA advocacy day in Jeff City today. That's why I'm a little more overdressed than usual. So there is quite a contingency in the capital today and a lot of uh legislator comments about funding formulas and the lack of funding that will be coming to a lot of different areas going on next year uh between Governor Kho's projected budget. So, a lot of good conversation and the gentleman who actually proposed the calendar system I talked to today and he

said the reason that we have to start so late, Missouri generates a million dollars in tourism in August. He said a day. He said in May we generate 200,000. So, they're trying to collect more money for us on the front end is why they were still denying and pushing schools back even though there's been about 170ome schools that were denied the start change that we requested. So, >> get the information. >> Well, I'll start off with something exciting like state legislation since you started there. I we have a nice warm day today. I saw 84 degrees and you all have been here absorbing this exciting information so far as it's nice and warm. >> I feel like a social studies teacher again after lunch when the classroom was warm. I knew everybody was going to

fall asleep if it wasn't an exciting lesson. Um, for that reason, I will not be reporting on legislative matters this month. I'm going to put it off a month. So, I don't actually have a report on that. There's a lot shaking, but I don't think I would keep you engaged. Uh, one other item before I get into business that I think might uh very much be of interest to our community. So, this is my fourth school year in Marshall Public Schools. And one of the first community members that I met and got to know really well was Roger Blakeley. Roger Blakeley served as super assistant superintendent of schools for a number of years with a number of superintendents. came to a lot of board meetings and I got to serve on Rotary with him. His

daughter-in-law actually worked for the school district at one point in time and was a great employee and part of the team and family and uh unfortunately uh Roger has passed. So I wanted to take a moment to recognize his contribution not only to Marshall schools but uh to our community. He was a really great man and he will absolutely be missed. We have not yet u kind of we're late finding out about the incident. So there will be some things shared with his wife and if anybody has anything they want to send their way in the school district in the community or on the board I will be happy to help get that to Mrs. Blakeley on your behalf. Um we sure do appreciate him and he will be missed. >> Okay, on to the

exciting promises of my presentation. I'm going to cover an awfully lot awfully fast and you're always welcome to slow me down. >> Okay. I'm going to start with a really large financial decision that will come across our open session minutes tonight. The rendering on your left. We don't operate with a lot of renderings when we do bonds and levies and things of that nature, but this is not such. with some of our leftover proceeds from our construction project last month or two months ago. It's running together for me now. We asked them to make it really clear and that any future construction decisions would come to you all as a change order. Um or as they would reference it here, ASI 24. That is a rendering of the front of the high school and what

it would look like. And the $ 14 million price tag that it will cost covers design, HVAC, electrical, foundation, enclosure, and finishes. And that is the main entrance of the uh front of the high school which faces the circle drive. It would be enclosed with a small awning. It would open into uh all of the administrative offices, a conference room, and uh more of a I'm going to call it a state-of-the-art vestibule like what we have at MIS. Um that's something we wanted to do with our levy dollars. And since we were lucky enough to be able to capitalize on a really good interest market, that project is all savings from our construction project. It's also probably right down to about our last penny, but that's what we promised our voters we would do with

it. And I think it's a really good investment. Uh so there'll be a request for you to vote on that later tonight. And I'm not going to ask if you have questions. Just yell at me if you have questions. Otherwise, I'm going to keep going. Early childhood update. We're going to vote tonight to expand our one more full day prek classroom. That's something that for four years we've talked a lot about the earlier we can get our students statistically the more effective we are. Um and we have increased our number of preschool students with this building that we sit in tonight here at Butterfield. We added a first full day prek this year which was a pay model. It's kind of a separate model than our previous preschool which we still operate as we used

to half days etc. But just some very fast statistics. We asked uh our administrator and Mrs. Dylan to track in preschool what it's accomplishing. And long story short, I won't go through all those details, but for example, potty trained students after co a huge thing where students were coming to us in preschool not potty trained and all the way up through third and fourth grade. It was it was not just uh Marshall, Missouri, but public education as a whole. something happened through COVID and uh at the end of this year we will only have six of our four-year-olds uh five of whom have health related issues at this moment today in March and we're not done yet. I hope it's five but down to six from 31 at the start of the year and in

terms of number of students that come in understanding their letters and the things that we foundationally need preschoolers to know. um just really great data and I thought I'm just going to share that with you all this month as I'm asking you to add another full day prek staff it with another teacher and so the proof is in the pudding. We're really impacting change and we want to get more preschoolers here because we believe we can produce these sorts of results. So we're going to keep expanding until we run out of room is my hope. To that end, we'll talk about tuition and that prek class. It does come with some dollar figures attached and I'll ask the board of education to approve this tonight. The PN program, which is our adult ed tuition program

through the career center. We're asking for an increase to the tuition there. Uh the tuition is minimal, I would truly say, and the program does a phenomenal job. It's a increase of $1,60. Um it actually waves some of the screening enrollment process. And uh so that's that's a request you have tonight. gonna ask you to vote tonight to increase what we charge for prek all day tuition. We had no idea what to charge last year. We just wanted to fill the class and get the kids here. We're gonna ask to increase it'll seem significant. Staff students will go from 30 to 70. Non- staff will go from 60 to 110. It is significant compared to how we started, but now we know what we're doing, what our outcomes going to be, and we're still the

cheapest program in town. uh we already have enough interest from community surveys that we we know there's enough interest to fill that other classroom. So >> uh that is the rate I'm sharing is weekly. Yes, because all the other programs in town were weekly even though we charge monthly. That's correct. Good catch. >> We're going to talk about salary increases. I uh underscored proposed. I'm sharing with the board first. I'll have staff meetings next and uh then I'll bring back to you whatever feedback I get from both entities sometime between now and approval of the budget which is uh we're required to approve our annual budget by June but starting with Mr. Ranky's reports tonight, capital outlay, IT, etc. Then salaries, insurance uh I believe this is what we will have and I feel pretty

confident we're going to give a step which is about a 1% increase. We're going to increase the base is our proposal which is 2%. Our insurance is going to increase this year. It's funny that's how insurance tends to go. I haven't seen it go the other way personally. I've heard stories of it and unicorns but I've never seen it. Um the total raise package for our certified staff is 5.66% 66% on average. And that is a really a pretty healthy raise, especially considering all the legislation I'm not talking about that makes things uncertain. But I feel really good about this proposed package. We are also going to propose that we add a step 31 for certified staff. Currently, we we have built-in raises and steps. Um we don't have a step 31 for certified. We're

going to add that step 31 for double degree uh degreed certified staff. And then extra duty stipens. I also anticipate to request uh that we follow our recommended formula and our policy and increase our extra duty siphons along with the base. I think that's 1% of the base real estate. There's an awful lot going on in real estate in Marshall Public Schools. It seems like all the time and I really do think there's an end in sight. Uh tonight we have a board approval for us to approve this resolution which allows our board president, Mr. Jake to sign on the sales contracts for the bus lot, which we have up for sale now, and the MSDC lots, which were traded for uh Northwest. >> Uh we have one of those lots already have a contract

underway and heading your direction, but we need the resolution in order first. And the next steps that I would anticipate is that you'll probably be approving a sales contract at your next board meeting for the current transportation department. So things are moving forward pretty quickly and it won't be long before you'll see all those buses parked at the new transportation hub and they started pouring pouring all the curbing back there today for that parking lot. So it's starting to take shape what it'll look like and they should be done within two weeks is their plan to see how much it rains of your next board meeting for Square Rental. There will be a lot of things to talk about there. We have three companies coming to the board tonight. I'm talking about the architectural style

of the home that the school district owns which is on the northeast campus. Uh that h there are three rental management companies with proposals before the board tonight. There's recommendation by myself for the board to consider of charging$775 per month for that residence. And then um I'm going to say you guys may want to consider tableabling that to discuss the details of that and other motions. But our next steps here is that the house I hope who knows again with all the different things. But the house should be done by August at the latest and I'm being pessimistic with that u prediction. I would say I'm really hopeful that it's July and that we can begin advertising rental in June. So clarifying details that house I've had some questions in the last month since we

presented this the first time. Yes, the house is on a school property. It's a very large campus, but it's a long ways from a school, further than what a house would be located to a school that's in a regular residential neighborhood. Um, it does have its own boundaries, its own driveway, and its own parking. And it will have no interactions with school business or access to schools themselves. It's just a house. Uh, the high school has houses closer to it than what this building is to our new schools. Okay. The big thing of the night maybe because it's nothing except your own approval is far from done. The Midland Empire Conference is an athletic sports conference uh in the state of Missouri and I have asked you tonight for your board business to consider approving

the letter of support from this conference for membership. This would create and this is the most important piece of information that I hope the public hears and the board hears. It would create a new sports division for Marshall Public Schools East and West and it's really a super conference of which I only know of two others in the state of Missouri. um where it operates with two divisions and that creates a great deal of stability, something that the NCMC itself had began to lack. You lose a school and the entire conference hangs in the balance. You start getting 10 11 schools, you don't have that same instability. The board's vote uh tonight in Marshall as well as Moberly does not finalize this. It does not it does not stop there. We still have to receive

official invitation from MEC and their uh board of uh controls meets April the 9th. However, their letter of support is very encouraging that it will be approved. I also would emphasize that Mexico, part of the formerly NCMC schools in the conference that we played with since the 70s, uh their school board still needs to vote on this as well. I'm not speaking uh for them. They have their own local things to navigate, but hopefully they're a part of this journey with us. Kirksville approved it last week and again the plan is to create strong divisions and avoid travel. We have so far in weekly conversations talked about how if we are thoughtful with the way that we com, you know, create these two divisions, we can play within our own division, especially on week nights

when travel is possibly dangerous and can be far. And if we have to have crossconference competitions, try to keep them on weekends. Uh the larger this conference would grow, the more likely that would be possible. And for our division, it would really be NCMC schools we played since the 70s plus Chilikati. When you look at it like that, it makes a lot of sense. What I hear on the uh opposition out there sometimes is, "My goodness, we're going to drive to Mville every week." No, that's not the plan with a multi- divisional conference. Um, so we'll see how that all goes. Uh, I'm really proud of a lot of people having a lot of conversations all around the state and 11 different school districts, particularly the NCMC schools that we've had a long-standing relationship with.

This is a really exciting opportunity. The alternative to this opportunity is becoming independent and uh that could have us driving pretty darn far as well. This has some thoughtfulness that can weigh out the distance and try to be thoughtful in how we schedule. It also has some neat opportunities to build really huge um tournament play like wrestling, tennis, etc. And we've talked about well if the farthest points of two divisions do have to play each other, why couldn't it be at a neutral site like Mville and Mexico in Chilikathy? And everybody's very open to that too. If it comes to fruition, like everything, there will be learning curves, but I think it's exciting. I believe this is the last thing that I have to share with you tonight, which is a a financial budget update.

We're in the budget season for the school district. Financially, at the state level, public education funding is becoming less and less certain for various reasons. Um, the school district has just reinvested some of its matured CDs again. And something I'd like to start talking openly with the board, the booster club, um, and all the budgeting team about is that we, if we were ever going to consider turf at our high school campus, it would make us much more equitable to the other people in our previous conference and our future conference. And I think that we could create a budget where we would be able to the next time those CDs mature, invest it in turf and still have about $1.5 million in CDs on reserve. So that's something I want to start talking about getting

out there. The biggest thing this would address our practice field safety, which has long been a concern. It would address some sprinkler issues, some of which are underneath a brand new track. We really don't want to mess with that track that's in good shape. and it would pave a path for our booster club who has some big projects in mind for themselves as well, but this would have to happen to allow the other things to happen. So, I think it's sort of now, I'm not going to say now or never, but now is as good as the unknown. Um, and we have a way that we could probably do that resourcefully. I'm not talking about right this minute. I'm talking about next summer 27. Um, if we were going to do it, we would need

to budget for it now. And what an exciting thing to possibly accomplish in conjunction with a new sports conference, a new uh exciting activities director, and just a lot of cool stuff going on. We talked a long time about Pride, and I think this would embody it. And we we're hoping to do it not just for the football field, but the soccer field, too. And that is my presentation. If you have any questions, I'll answer them, but otherwise, I'm going to let you move on. Looks like there are no questions at this time. So, we will move on to a lot of new business to vote on here. So, uh the first thing is a resolution to sell the bus barn and the lots. >> What's the resolution to sign? >> I was going to

say we've also we've already kind of moved towards on the selling I thought. So, this is a resolution allowing me to actually sign the real estate contracts, which you all have to vote as a board to allow me to sign off to liquidate these properties or these situations for us. So, um it actually is a form that's signed by uh Matt as the vice president um authorized by us, the board, um as a governing body. >> So, moved. >> It's been moved by Mr. Shepard. >> Seconded by Mr. Lind. All those in favor of I guess more should you say granting the power of the president to sign for the properties. All those in favor please say I. >> I. >> Any opposed? Obstaining. Um the next thing is to look at the career center

practical nursing program fee increase. Uh the fee increase was a flat $1,000 and then it was about $60 it looked like in materials um that was being added uh for that total price of a little more than I believe about 185 give or take some change um on that as well which also has us still under um some programs that are within about 60 mi of us and well under some other programs that are um within that range and a little farther away as well. >> So move >> I'll second. It's been moved and seconded. All those in favor, please say I. I. >> Any opposed or abstaining? Next, we will look to approve the capital outlay that Mr. Rinky uh explained to us as more of our summer projects um and continue uh improvement

projects across the district through our CIP and our technology plan, which he outlined for us just a few minutes ago, as well as the -ate um information that was contained there and the last uh project as well. So move. So >> move second. It's >> been moved by Mrs. Green and seconded by Mr. Linds. All those in favor, please say I. I. >> Any opposed? Staining. >> Next, we will approve the Sling County multi-jurisdictional natural hazard mitigation plan resolution. That was a mouthful. I just want you to know. >> So move. >> Glad there's no other questions. Uh that just allows us to participate of course within our Selen County plan and draw funding if needed if there is an emergency. Um and our safety officer Mr. Warding has been involved with that um and

meeting with them. So all those in favor. >> Any opposed are obstaining. Next we will approve the fiscal year 20 26 27 calendar as presented by Mr. Rinky and voted on um with graduation dates by the class. I know there's been a lot of questions about how we got to the graduation date of Friday this year and as he pointed out that it was asked of the senior the juniors last year to vote on it. Um and so it is not actually a board decision but a recommendation taken from the community as well. So and we have another one going next year and going back to Sunday. So, we'll have a nice high noon ceremony probably and it'll be nice and warm next year. Hopefully this evening one will be a little bit better this

year. >> So, move. >> I'll second. >> It's been moved by Mrs. Staley and seconded by Mrs. Green. Everyone uh please say I this in favor. >> I. >> Any opposed? Next, we have the ASI 24 order for 1.4 million. I do not like that title and I skipped over F and I will come back to F since I skipped over it. >> So, but that changes. >> Been waiting for this one a long time. >> Yeah. Right. >> All right. So, it was a lot easier to get everybody to agree to spend money it sounds like tonight. So, it's been moved. Was there a second as well? >> Seconded. >> All right. All those in favor of the new vestibial project at the high school, please say I. >> I. >> Any opposed? are

abstaining. Uh next we will look at the approval of the response from the Midland Empire conference. So this was what Mr. uh Pettit just outlined as far as a conference for us to join and be part of after the dissolution of our current conference. >> So moved. >> Second. >> It's been moved and seconded by a multitude of people. >> I will let the secretary choose on that. All those in favor, please say I. >> I. Any opposed? And lastly, the design fee for the ASI 24 change order um from IDS design for 17,000 for the design of the secure vestibule and office space uh that will be added to the high school of $17,000. >> So moved. >> Second. >> It's been moved and seconded. All those in favor? >> I. >> Any opposed?

All right. We have some old business. Um, there have been some MSBA policies that have been floating around our packets for a couple of months. I believe there are about a dozen of them in total and two of them actually eliminate um um other policies that we've had in place in the past um as they are no longer valid. Does anyone have any questions? Mr. Pettit said he has received very little and I did not have any myself. >> So move second. >> It's been moved by Mr. Carol, seconded by Mr. Sheepard. All those in favor, please state I. >> I. >> Any opposed? >> Next, we will approve the prek tuition rates as Mr. Pettit outlined for 2026 2027 with the addition of another full day classroom. >> So move second. >> It's been

moved and seconded. All those in favor? >> I. >> Any opposed? >> You all are so agreeable tonight. I feel like we should have something else on here. So, >> all right. Well, and I guess the addition of the full pre-day class is actually a separate motion um as well. So, I guess I somewhat tried to combine those, but it is not the case. I can do so. All those in favor of adding the second pre-day uh preful day, second full day of prek classes. That shouldn't have been as bad as it was. >> Motion that we approve it. Okay. >> Second. It's been approved and seconded uh for the addition of the full day prek class. All those in favor? >> Any opposed? And under old business D and E, I would like to

request that a motion to table these and then we will return back into open session after close session so that we may discuss uh this contract and that we are going to be taking place with someone as a property manager so that we can discuss the specifics in close session as it relates to um real estate. >> Second. >> It's been moved and seconded. All those in favor of tableabling until after close session, please say I. >> I. >> Any opposed? Stain or need to recuse. All right. Thank you all. We will now seek a motion to go to close session. >> So move. >> Second. >> It's been moved and seconded. >> I I >> I >> Thank you all. We'll move to close session. And thank you from our guests from the city.

I'll be sure to join you all at your next meeting as well. >> See you.
