And uh number three we have approve first we have approval of a personal recommendation. Um I would like to first um I would like to pay for I I move that we accept the recommendation from personnel for the superior >> second. I have a motion and a second to approve personnel with the exception of the athletic statements. Any questions or concerns? All in favor? Ah, a number four new classifier 26 27. >> Do I have

002a motion? >> So move. >> I second the motion. I have a motion in the second. Any questions or concerns? >> All in favor? >> I oppose. Number five, approve of certified staff. Do I have a motion? Do I have a second? I second the motion. >> I have a motion and a second. Any questions of concern? >> All in favor? >> I oppose. Number six, approve of cheer camp. Do I have a motion? I move that we approve of the cheer camp June 5th to 8, 2026. >> Second. >> I have a motion and a second. Any questions or concerns? Mr. All in favor? >> I oppose. Do I have a motion to adjourn a special call meeting and go into work session? >> I have a motion and a second. All in favor?

003>> I oppose. >> Can I have a motion? >> What about a work session? So move. >> Second. >> I have a motion and a second to call the order of the work session. All in favor? >> I oppos. >> At this time, we have the discussion of the June 8th school board meeting and that should be last because we have some things to discuss. It's is is mis um missed is mis in mis order. So we going to skip number two. and go to number three, the discussion of the school board retreat. So the school board retreats for the new board members, we get together once a year to discuss the upcoming goals which is um normally seven. We just did our strategic plan. So first we need to um create a date in

004a location and work on our agenda. Mr. Do you have any recommendations? >> I recommend that we uh use um dinner as the location and also if possible like school. >> So we going to do a Friday and Saturday like we did last Friday evening and Saturday all day. >> Correct. Can we request people availability for the next few weeks? That way we can um schedule it based on who's available and what you'll be available for Friday evening and Saturday before school start. that we need time to think about that and come back to it next week. Let me say Friday. >> I think about 5:30 to like 7:30 last time we was out of there. I think 5:30 to like 6:30 almost 7:00. I think we just used the last 30 minutes up and

005Saturday start at 8:00 or 9:00 and 4 and then it's just that need to be on the agenda of you like we normally do um training with the administrators and it's a big one thing I would like to as part of the training some um sped training for the leadership in us. So when we have hearings and stuff we have more better knowledge of the SP procedures I would like to see. >> Yes ma'am. If anybody else have any ideas on this morning, you have some ideas. I I do know that um a part of what we do on one part of when we we sign I'm trying to think of what the document is called but within that document we're saying that at some point in our retreat we actually have some type of

006activities or activity where we're um bonding as as a board and I would hope that that would be a part of the agenda primarily because we do have two new members. We are good reason for making sure that we're doing activities where we can know one another better and understand the perspectives that each one of us has for me for the date. I just need to know are we looking at June or July or um as far as >> well start July July 13th >> July 13th is now >> in the week before that um July 10th. So I guess we are saying end of month I'm available Friday. So and um Junth is on a Friday. So that's a holiday 26 27. >> Yes. 26 and 27. Friday. So Friday evening process I mean

007the 19th I can do it on the 19 that'll be a holiday for the forend professional development on this Yeah, that's a possibility. Uh, M, but we can also begin to say we're about 10, 11, 17, >> July >> 17, 18 of July. So if everybody is available after you email and say you're available on 17th and 18th >> July July >> so the options are July 17th 18 what options you have 19 and I do know that uh on the 20th here in the city of Mcome there, you know, we celebrate Junth on the 20th with the Black History Gallery. and it's I'm I'm not part of their program, but I would like you to attend. So, we going to lock down the 17 18 of July. July 17th. >> Yes. >> That's all.

008Go ahead. >> I just had nothing to do with the retreat itself, but going back to the June or July 13 start date for students. Is that what we're saying? >> When will the students begin? >> July 20th. >> The 20th. Okay. And I'm asking that because I've had a few people to ask me when do they start when do the students start and and I wonder if you have that on the website or on Facebook. >> Okay. All right. >> Yes sir. >> All right. Thanks. Okay. Next on a discussion of school walk through during the summer break and it's just the first due arrival in the week of June 8th. Uh and we going to actually uh be uh completing all the room and desk and all student. Maybe the week after that

009we can do a walk through include something. >> So we looking at the 13. >> Yes ma'am. Yes. Is everybody start at 9 or 8? >> 8. >> Okay. 8:00. Uh, it's been delivered the week of June 8th. that money. We have a crew put in as soon as possible. At this time, we'll have the discussion of the June 8 school board agenda. We'll have call the order school district vision admission statement. 30 second of silence adoption of the agenda presentation of awards for the highest APA for Summit Elementary. Then we'll have technology update for Mr. Biz. Would you like to read to the board meeting? >> Yes, it's your pleasure. >> Then we'll have school at Higgins School at D review and approval of minutes. Any questions or concerns? >> One concern moving in

010work session. changed something. It was where we were using the initials. I mean the home school district police department it was it was it spelled out and uh I mean my thing was whatever minutes are written they should be written as if the reader does not know anything about who we are and what we do and sometimes when we use initials confusing person it's not So that that that is on the the minutes that says the superintendent recommend board approval of SR vehicle patrol. So can we spell those out correctly but will be approved for next week? >> Yes, ma'am. that works. >> I misremembered to uh check this for uh an error that I saw published and I think our mayor obtains supposedly most of their information from our correct. >> Yes, sir. Dr.

011And we went back and checked our they were correct. Uh for whatever reason when they were published in the enterprise journal typo we did contact right on this part. >> It was a vote that they had correct. >> Okay. That's not >> they were correcting the minutes on our side those minutes and they were published and corrected. >> Okay. But there was And maybe I'm wrong. There was also a error in the board presented a presentation to the police department. I think it was named the name James Brown. >> That was also >> it should have been Joshua. >> We have that correct. >> Yeah, that's what I'm saying. >> Yes, sir. So, basically our witness was correct. That's what I ask. >> He is the information he publishes which you're saying is incorrect. So

012I just want to make sure I >> Yes, our information is correct. >> Okay. >> Yeah. And we did contact. >> We did. He just did not correct it. Next we have reviewer and approval of financial statement in question. reviewing the claims. Any questions on the sign questions on that? Um, document number pages 4. We know there is not on this particular payment. >> What's the number? >> 8487. No, it's 848. >> Yeah. 84817 pages. >> Okay. for the contract. >> What is it last 228,000? >> I would check with uh Mr. Ernale. Uh there there could be probably one more facility that would be one thing but I would like to check tomorrow. >> Yes sir. and I'll be back to financial responsibility to that also um document number 848120. Do we know where

013those switches are being installed for cameras? Those actually aren't switches. Those were uh cabling and power supplies for the switches we had already purchased. >> They're actually for here at central office. They were we purchased the switches through the SLCGP grants, but the grant did not cover cabling, power supplies or connectors that came out of the district budget. It was purchased to make sure those switches actually ran. So that was purchased for here. >> So that's why I was kind of confused cuz on the last purchase we did involve switches, right? >> Yes. >> And that's what I was concerned why we doing another switches when we switch. they were uh supplies for switches. So the grant would only cover the actual hardware. The grant would not cover any of the cabling, any of the

014power supplies or any of the connectors for them. So that was actually had to be purchased out of district fund so that the stuff that we purchased to replace the aging switches here at central office would actually work. >> Yes, sir. Number 2 on page 5 and long care was this for the year and also this the new company that we got this for the entire here. No, that's that's that's covers football. That's the long >> I think we have a contract. Any more questions? Any more questions about Atend? >> Thank you, Madam President. report and presentation of attendance on the student attendant. Uh number 12, we have teacher attendance enrollment breakdown and district report uh for the month of May. Have any questions? Uh 12B we have the uh consent agend. And I I

015just wonder um since we this data would actually have it where we understand how we've done all of school year. Is it possible for us to have something put together that that will show um all of the months in in a in maybe like a um bar graph or line graph or something that indicates our strengths and and and not so good is especially on um well all of it is important. I'm thinking that with discipline as an example, it would be good to see the months that we had the most issues or even for the enrollment breakdown our attendance. >> So for the month of June, we got to do the whole year 25 26. >> Yes ma'am. with the technology we use with school. We have that ready for the regular school board.

016>> Yes, sir. Thanks. >> Excuse me. >> Any more questions about teacher attendance, enrollment, breakdown or discipline? Any questions about the consent agenda item 1 through four? On the regular agenda, we'll have the election of officer, election of old president, election of old vice president, election of old secretary. Any questions or concerns? >> I I have a question any of these positions, M you are attorney, because I know that um when a person is new to the board, they're still in a learning phase. I just wonder does that apply here for all three positions? So in accordance with in accordance with the policy, anyone who wishes to run or serve in either of these roles has to have completed their first four years as a board member. Um, number two, we have a proof of

017a contract to ride the chain. >> Any questions or concerns? >> Number three, we have approval of unit solution speed. >> Any question or concern? Number four, we have a group of small child speech and language service. >> Any questions or concerns? >> Number five, we have approval of contract with Rosemont from Southern Texas. >> Any questions or concern? >> Number six, we have approval of contract with Ashire. We have group. Any questions or concern? >> Number seven, we have a proof of contract with Plus. Any questions or concerns? >> Number eight, we have approve a contract with Savage Learning Company. >> Any questions or concerns? Number You'll put some number 10 review classified recommendation. We will have it on the agenda. Yes, it is. Number 11. Second, review a student handbook for the 26

01827 school year. >> It appears that number 11 and number 12. Is that a typical you have to write? That's the employee handbook and the student handbook. Any questions or concerns about the student handbook? >> Yes, >> Mr. Z. I have u concern regarding the uh the student handbook to make sure that we are in compliance with what has been recently adopted in the state legislature. what I've done did an analysis of what they command to us at the the update school law at the uh city board school board association and I'd like to share this information and what I did was I broke it down by whether it was a house bill or senate bill and you said your what's your major But it was mostly takeaways um from what they say they are

019recommending. Some are recommendations and some were adopted. So particularly those things that are adopted are those concerns that we need to make sure that we have that we're in complications. So I think we have shared with the department head because it also involves several of my department head as those two things have been adopted and they are working on the things that they have recommended some of which that we already know searched our policies. A lot of them had to do with our policies. Um they're saying that we need to update and make sure that we compromise um for a particular example when we're changed the um the attendance that we're at frequency currently 66% and those things that are um regarding allowable kids. Um there are some things that exchange programs that have been

020adopted that we need to make sure and there are some things that have been indicated that it will be indicated in here must be implemented as a um implementation of MD. But you also see where I have policies policies that was pretended that this one has um this is Yes sir. >> Uh there was one in particular that I saw that they had adopted where there were some items that need as far as technology wise that we were unable to purchase under a certain umbrella. But now it is um they revamped it and made a lot of several other things allow purchases. So that very closely That's it. >> I have two questions. >> One, are we still going to be 100% free lunch? >> Yes, ma'am. In a handbook of the bills, they say

021somebody get lunch. >> And my next question is go to graduation and I I'm going be honest with y'all. I really had time to look through it. So, I'm not sure and I should have asked this question. Did we change the the wording in our handbook cuz it previously state that a student would have to request in 10th grade for early graduation and last year we requested that that be changed. I think y'all determined they had a student that had received a scholarship from USM that was eligible for graduation early in the handbook request early graduation when we brought the policy before us and again I apologize I I haven't had time to go line by line to to verify that that that remain change in the hand I'll check and see if that makes

022up because I I don't I'm not sure if the policy I'm not sure I will have to go Okay. >> Well, I do agree that we we need to be more flexible than the 10th grade. >> Okay. That's all I have. Any more questions? I have one last may not be able to answer this but in this case where they say we must implement by January 2027 Senate bill 2787 it deals with um the pipe um says we have to do an annual test on our do have one going forward to comply with And then the last thing is the I know we have policy for students releasing the um regarding firearms and vehicles. But this is something that we also need to look at our policy on as well on the language that that

023they want us to update policy regarding firearms. That's um looking close. Yes, sir. when it come to the gas at some point think of what needs to be done. So if you give any question when it comes to the use of AI consider. However, we are allowed to have one. We currently don't have a aware of it. that >> but I was speaking >> any more questions. Number 12, second review. >> I have a question. I'm sorry. On page, we do have a title 940. It's not listed. It just had employee um I say this every year since I've been on board if it's in writing we need to make sure we doing that because we hold the children to a standard that the adults are not um about so we going to tell kids

024they can't wear CS teachers can't wear props we tell girls they can't wear tights and our teachers wearing tights >> yes ma'am >> and our policy say no open toe shoes but we got teachers wear open toe shoes and then send a kid home they got I mean grownups have to follow the rules First I think the open tone speak because I actually just read that it said that the open to shoes we find it on the page that the person has to have strap strap around the heel to make sure the shoe doesn't doesn't slip off the an employee can wear open to shoes. we go back and find that. >> But that's that's that's my concern right there. So we have a kid home with a pair of shoes that have stra can't

025wear them. But then we have teachers that have similar shoes on, but because it's a grownup, I just want us to be fair cuz kids take pictures and of grown up wearing the same thing that didn't get sent home for. So we need to be consistent and fair with the policy. So we going to say samples open to I ain't got problem with I just want us to match what we asking kids to do cuz kids kids follow grown up. So either way I'm fine with it. I just want us to mirror what we asking them to do. Yes ma'am. That's why the kids was wearing the Crocs. But they said the Crocs is closed toes, but they got a strap. But then when you catch them, they don't have the strap on. So we

026don't have time to be regulating that type of stuff. So that's why the hand list Crocs in the student handbook with Crocs should also be in the grownup handbook cuz they don't wear yes but last year the teachers were wearing them and not so we we need to make sure that we consistent >> I think So that >> it's supposed to be >> out of possibly cause an accident, >> right? >> That's all I >> But I think the point was that they they hurt their they fall. I don't know. See some school districts over to shoe drop or whatever it can become a work claim. Some schools don't allow opening shoes for employees for that reason. >> But what I'm hearing is that the employee handbook to give student handbook. >> I agree. It

027says I know it says it but we like the yoga pants and stuff. So, we have we just had an event at the school and and you go to the school, they have on sandals and shoes and and they say they have straps on. But my only problem with that is me personally, we got kids that we sent home and say, "Okay, they out of dress code for they they need to be in school." So let's just make sure that whatever we have in writing that we follow through with the grownups. >> Yes, ma'am. And we'll make that part of our service dialogue too. >> Well, that's all I have before any more concerns about employee angle. >> Yes, it is. >> Yes, ma'am. >> Thank you. We have number 13, miscellaneous business out of

028district. >> Any questions or concerns? At this time, we'll have a close determination on whether or not to enter into session if need be. Can I have a motion to adjourn? >> Dr. All in favor? I oppose. Thank you.
