This is her second year, but she lives to find creative ideas to share with everyone and she always brings her lessons to life. Just today I was walking down the hall and she had an activity where the children were working with a magic E. They heard the word, they had at first they had just the R A K and then she dropped it into water and it appeared with the magic E with in red while the other letters had green and they knew that it was rake as a new word. So I want to say that I really appreciate you and call Miss Aane Matthews Walker forward as our teacher practitioner of the year

early childhood center. and she has her family with her. If they will please stand briefly. Our parent of the year is Miss Shakita Quinn. Miss Quinn is expecting a little one, but that does not slow down her service. She is up and down the hall delivering snack bags. Whenever we call, she's there in a hurry. So, we greatly appreciate Mission Keith Quinn as our parent of the year. Perfect. Our family is here as well. if they will please stand. Also, for the month of December, Kennedy had as teacher of the month, Miss Margaret Brown Pearly. Staff of the month was Miss Tiffany McBride. The text, can you do this? Will you help us with this? We never get a no. It's always okay, we'll see. And she always seems to figure it out. So, we appreciate you. We love you. And we thank you for all of your sacrifices. I'll get on this side. And to and to conclude our superlatives for the month of December for staff of the month, Denise Landrew Brown. She serves as attendance officer and she has done a tremendous job in ensuring that we have had top attendance every single month. So Denise is December staff of the month, the

teacher of the month for December, Miss Lisa Lumen, who did a wonderful job of our book fair and does a tremendous job of promoting not only literacy but computer science throughout the school. The other staff of the month is Daria Fiser and she promotes the arts. She continues to work hard to ensure that scholars have a first class taste of an arts education. 010sure that our students are taken care of each and every day. She holds all of our children to a very high expectation. She is also a dream co-orker. She makes sure that everyone at IN has everything that they need to succeed. So without further ado, Atkins teacher of the year, none more deserving than Miss Patricia Scott. Will her family please stand back there? I saw y'all back there. Stand family. We are here to support you. Our next award award is for our parent of the year. This young lady stepped in uh whenever we need her. She makes our Sam's run, get snacks, she delivers the snack, then she comes on Friday to help with getting the snacks out. Uh any event that we have, she is there. Um and she called me about a month

ago and she said, "Uh, Principal Chapman, I got something I want to tell you." And so I said, "What is it?" She said, "I'm moving to Texas." I said, "What? You can't go." So she moved to Texas, but guess what? In two weeks, she called me back and guess what she told me? I'm coming back to I. So, I am so, so thankful for her. She always has a sweet, beautiful smile and she is always willing to help our teachers and students in any way that she can. So, I would like to introduce our parent of the year, Miss Reisha Isaac. Someone's here. Now we will do our teacher of the month and staff of the month for the month of December. Our teacher of the month is someone who battles adversity. Uh but she

So our teacher of the month for December is Miss Shante Roberts. Our staff of the month um is a person, she works in the front office. She is the records clerk, but she does a lot more than records. 016being stated, she's hands-on. She loves what she does for the children. She works hard daily. anytime you need her to do anything. She's her decisions are data driven. And it's amazing when you have someone that serves in the capacity of an academic coach that takes time out of their busy schedule to come back daily and teach children. With that being stated, this teacher helped us move Dem from an F to a C. And we were 16 points from a B. >> Come on now. So, THANK YOU Good evening. >> Good evening. >> We're going to continue with our awards and celebrations, but let's give all of our school level parents and teachers of the year a round of applause. They work to impact and change student lives every single day. So, moving right along this evening, I have the distinct pleasure to announce the district parent of the month, the district teacher of the month of the year. I'm sorry, let me go back. I have the distinct pleasure to announce

the district parent of the year, the district teacher of the year, and the district administrator of the year. Now, these three individuals, they will go on to compete at the state level, but at state recognition. Okay? So, it is it is with distinct honor and pleasure that I'm up here today. And I'm going to start with the district parent of the year. A lot of great things have already been said about this young lady. But I do know that all of them are true cuz I see the things that go on every day and every event when I travel to that school. Our district parent of the year is none other than Ms. Chastity Green Cook. >> Miss Cook, will you please come forward? Summit Elementary leadership team. Come up. Congratulations. of the dead. >>

Next, we have our district teacher of the year. And everything that was said about this lady is true. Absolutely true. And I know cuz I've been in her classroom. Okay. I I called her into her principal office and asked her if anything that she needed to move forward this school year. and she laid out to me everything that she needed and did so. Okay. >> Her passionate students and making certain that they achieve at the highest level and I appreciate her so so very much. Our district teacher of the year is Miss Rene High School. Miss, would you come up please? Congratulations once again. >> Okay, last but definitely not least, we have our district administrator of the year. You know, we have some outstanding administrators in this district. I want to say that they

all do a great job, but only one person can get this award. Recently, we've been traveling to all the schools to have academic talks about the rest of the school year. And and this one principal who I went to, I had a list of things that I wanted to know, a list of things that I was going to ask. But you know what? This person already had everything on the table when I got there. That's just how sharp she is. Okay. The district administrator of the year is none other THAN MISS RASHANA CHAP. IT'S RIGHT. >> GO. >> Happy birthday. Congratulations again. >> As I stated earlier, these ladies will go on to compete at the state level. So, let's wish them the best of luck. Okay. Thank you. Thank you for your hard work

to make certain that our students receive what they need. To all of our parents, teacher of the year and administrator, thank you so much. >> Can we please have a round of applause for everyone? At this time, if you would like to leave, if that's the end of our award ceremony, you may do so at this time. How are you? Yes, we do. Yes, ma'am. I'll help you. Hey, I'm going to follow you. At this time we going to continue our July 12th board meeting. Next on the agenda, we have tech technology update by Mr. Robert Biggs. >> Good evening. >> The biggest issue we've had this year is the down wireless that we've had districtwide. It started late September, early October. So, I just wanted to update the board tonight to let you know

that Demond Junior High and the vocational center both have completely new wireless APs. The schools are running at 100% across all classrooms. We're going to be moving toward the high school in Higgins within the next month, but we're making good progress. Currently, our district is about 80 to 85% back to where it should be. >> Thank you. >> You have any questions? >> Any questions? >> I just want to uh make sure that we'll be in place for testing. >> Yes, sir. The goal that Mr. Vic set for me was to make sure that the classrooms, the teaching classrooms would have 100% coverage before testing started. I don't think we're going to have any issues doing that. The APs that we had installed here at Denver, we're fix to take to the high school, Higgins

Middle School, and Kennedy to replace some of the classrooms that are still lacking coverage. When the new APs come in that Miss Hall is helping me order the next couple weeks, we'll start replacing the high school with completely new access points and move to Higgins Middle School after that. We're not going to have any issues with testing. We should be at more than at 100% coverage for classrooms and ready for testing on time. >> Any more questions or concerns? >> I I have a statement though. Um Mr. Bigs informed me today that they are actually doing the work themselves. We're not contracting it out, which means we are self-sufficient in the technology department with actually doing the work ourselves and not having to pay somebody to do it, which is a plus. So we saving

thousands of dollars because we're doing the work inhouse finally ourselves. >> Yes, ma'am. >> Any more questions or comments? Next, we'll have school at Ris Higgins in Dejun High School. Thank you. >> Okay. Good evening. >> School board meeting January 12th, 2026. MCOME school district school Higgins Middle School. Our school identification is CSI. Our school goal is a 460 which is going to require our reading to be at 45% proficiency. Our growth for all in reading needs to be at 70. Our percent growth of the bottom 25 needs to be at 70%. Our math proficiency should be at 55%. Our math growth for all will be at 75% and our math growth of the bottom 25 will also be 75%. For our science proficiency, we are reaching for 70% with a participation rate of 100.

When we compare our beginning of the year benchmark one assessment, we were at reading 27% proficiency growth of growth of all 42.8% 8% and growth of the bottom 25% 54.6 for ELA and reading. For math on bench one, our proficiency was 40.8. Our growth for all for math for bench one was 61.7 and our growth of the bottom 25 was 60.9. Our science proficiency was at 63.8 with a participation rate of 98%. Bench three that the students just were assessed on in December was a comprehensive assessment. Our proficiency for reading went up to 39.1%. Our percent of growth of all was 56.1 and our reading growth of the bottom 25 was 58.6. Our math proficiency was 47.3%. Our growth of all is 69.4 4 and our growth of the bottom 25 went up to 74.3%.

Our science proficiency is at 66.2% and we had a participation rate of 98. For our January reporting for the month of December, our total school enrollment was 280 students. Our student ADA was 92.65%. Our percent of students with two or more absences for the month was 21.9%. Our teacher attendance rate was 97.85% and the number of discipline referrals was 28 with zero coming from bus. Our fiscal year 2024 total allocations was $81,934. At the middle of the year, our remaining balance was $6,934. For this year, fiscal year 2025, our total allocations is 73,454 and our remaining balance for middle of the year is 74,73454,000 and our fiscal year 2026 allocations have not been released. Any questions? Dr. um I have two questions. >> Yes sir. >> Number one um with our lower percent um our

bottom lower percentile. What do we need to provide you with in order for you to achieve higher? >> Well, when we're looking at our bottom 25, the biggest thing there is staffing. Making sure that those students who are in that category are being able to be pulled out. We do have a plan in place and those children are being serviced at this time. Um, we we're in data meetings all day today. Miss Butler came over also with Miss Earles from the Bailey group and we are in a very very good place. Um we're going to continue doing what we're doing, but we're also getting a little bit more specific looking at student data. We're actually going in and we are pinpointing what skills, what standards, and how many questions those students actually need in order

to increase their scores. >> So you feel comfortable with where you are now? implementing. >> I'm very comfortable. Yes, we're comfortable. >> Any more questions? >> I have one question, Miss Wood. We um reduced the referrals to 28, which is significant from 63 the month before. Um what changes did we implement to um for that reduction? >> It was the month of December and we were out for two weeks. >> Okay. Yes. Okay. That's all I have. >> Thank you. Good evening. When you look at the report for Demi Junior High School, you see that of course it's a district, the Mcome school district. The school name is Demond Junior High School. Our school identification is TSI for ELA. Our current accountability points are 242 points. We left that has us at a letter grade

of an F. Um looking at our data for last year in reading we had 20.9 proficient 36.3 growth of all and 49% growth of the bottom 25. In math we had 29% proficient 39.7 growth of all and 42.1 growth of the bottom 25. In science we had 25% proficiency and our participation rate was greater than 95%. Our beginning of the year looking at reading proficiency is 24.2 growth of all 32.6 growth of the bottom 25 is 35%. Math is 53.1 proficiency 72.7 growth of all and 58.2 growth of the bottom 25. Science is 30 30.7% with a partic participation rate of 95%. The middle of the year, the one that we just took, when you look at reading, it'll be 27% proficiency, 37.3 growth of all, 34% growth of the bottom 25. Math is 44.8%

proficiency, 48.3 growth of all, 47.7 growth of the bottom 25. In science, we had 46.2% 2% proficiency and our participation was 95%. Looking at our data from January from December, the total uh school enrollment is 284 students. Our student 88 is 86.1. The percent of students with two or more absence for the month is 30.64. Teacher attendance rate 94.29. The number of discipline referrals is 34. When you look at our allocations, you see for the year 24, the allocations has been expended and in the year 25, we were not in school improvement. So, we did not have need any funds for that year. And the funds for the 26th school year, uh, MD has not sent those allocations yet. >> Any questions for Junior High School? >> I have one question, Miss Martin. Um and

it's out of out of a helping to understand if for Higgins their participation rate was 98 and this is 95 I just trying to understand why would the participation rate be 100%. Some of our students are actually um when they actually test or if they tested some of them are out sick and also when you have to um we look at suspensions what we do at dem is if the child is suspended we actually myself and Miss Jones we send our message to parents letting them know the students are testing that they can bring them to school but sometime they don't actually come in when we tested before the window closes. >> Thanks. Any more questions? >> I have question Dr. B. My uh concern as you already know would be that um those incentives

to for growth in that lower percentile. What what are we doing for ELA? >> In ELA um we're looking at doing a building wide shutting the building down on Wednesdays. And so every Wednesday in social studies they'll be working in a program that we have now is called classworks. And so intervention will take place across the building. And what we're doing is when they go to social studies, they'll be doing classworks for ELA. And when they go to um PE, they would do math. And when they go to science, we'll be doing egeneuity to bridge those gaps. And also, we're working with our consultants that are coming in for those days. So when they come in, they can also help us work with those students as well. >> Okay. do we have um what incentive

do we have for the students in place for the students to to to want to achieve that we're struggling here? >> Yes sir. Here at Demon our theme is cooking of excellence. So everything is center around some type of food. And so there are certain things we're putting in place monthly to not to also reward our students that had our perfect scores because at dinner we had 19 perfect scores. And so we're doing things and putting things in place such as taking them on trips trying to get things in line monthly so that um it'll be incentives for them. >> Do you have do you have the resources that's necessary? >> Yes, sir. >> Any more questions? Madam President, I also want to add that DM along with some of the other schools are going

to be starting an after school tutorial in the month of February where they will have a change to target some of these kids uh at least three times a week in after school tutorials and that's our plan uh as we move towards February, March and April. and and and Miss Butler, I want to uh you to chime in on something about the 95%. Some of our school student test outside the window after we have closed the test. Is that correct? >> Yes. Um although we have a um a deadline on when the window closes so that we can um inform master when to close the the window so that data can start to be compiled. But that does not um keep them from actually being able to test. They just don't make the initial reports

that come back. So the window is um still accessible for students who need to come back and make up uh assessments whether they're suspended or ill or whatever what have you. We just work with the school. They let us know and we get those students tested. >> So So we do test them all. They just tested outside of the window. >> Yes. Yes ma'am. So when we do the um after school tutorial, do we have something in place to encourage the parent? Because I think a lot of times with after school, if the parents are not encouraging and often times students won't take u that opportunity as a significant one to help them achieve. What we actually did when we gave out our report cards, we actually also gave out the report card from Equity

Analytics so the parents to create that buy in so that parents will see where their students are and to let them know that we need their support. >> Well, we um maybe it's a question from Miss Le. Will we be providing transportation for the children and after school program so they'll be able to get to and >> uh yes ma'am I have already gotten with Miss Pat Dylan. Uh we're going to provide transportation and um bed and William is going to provide a snack for the students back to school. We we have already uh taken care of that. >> So there will be no excuse for them not to take part of it because often times you know if it's not something in the form they won't take advantage of it. So we really need

them to take advantage of it.
