which stands one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Thank you all for being here. And G, we do have some guests tonight and we'll get to them in a little bit. Um, some folks from Dacttronics. So, but with that, we'll move on to 3.01. 1. >> Do you want to tell about the technical difficulties? >> Yeah, we're having a just some technical difficulties that Payton's working through right now. So, uh bear with us. Hopefully, it'll work itself out. >> Thank you. >> Uh 3101's correspondence participation. This is a point of meeting for comments on matters already on the agenda. Comments on agenda items will be accepted when that item comes up during the meeting. Interested persons may also submit views in written form to the clerk or superintendent prior to

the meeting and those comments will be brought to the attention of the board during the meeting. Do we have any correspondence or public participation? Okay, it's at 5.01 1 governance. >> Look like you guys usually do that on the website. >> We don't. >> Yeah, we don't really. Yeah. Move past it. We have no old business. Do we want to? >> I would like permission to move 7.09 to the top, please. >> You can. Okay. Are they on? >> Yeah, Ryan is on. >> Okay. Um, so we Rich and I last week had a virtual meeting with Ryan and Ben from Dacttronics to talk a little bit about scoreboards. Um, and we're talking about both indoor for basketball, wrestling, volleyball, and outdoor for track and, uh, football. And so I was going to let them

explain a little bit about the systems we were looking at and then also talk about how they help us find or solicit sponsors >> and how um you know they work within a budget. So if we if we solicit so much money that's what they will build to so we don't have to commit to a large sum ahead of time which I thought was really great. >> I'll let them talk and then we can discuss. Brian, can you hear us? >> Yes. Can you guys hear me? >> Yes. >> Perfect. Well, thanks for thanks for joining us as well. >> Wanted to go over. So if I share my screen, >> yeah, go ahead, Ryan. >> Okay, perfect. Perfect. I will. >> Can everyone see that? >> Everyone see that? >> Perfect. Okay, perfect. We're

going to start >> with some football options. >> So, this is by 25 >> and we have a top >> and a arch press on top. The control strip. You have a scoreboard below that allows you to be able to use the video screen fully during the game with animations, not worry about having also below you get into things. Here is a photo rendering position. We have another option for a more video board. That's >> an anchor similar fix >> with your admot. Oh, >> are we having audio issues? >> Audio issues. Let me see. Trash music. Let me see if I turned down my volume. Can you guys hear that now? >> I get that sometimes, too. >> I won't be able to hear you guys, but >> speakers. >> Oh, >> okay. Try

again, Ryan. >> Maybe I can do this >> now. Try again. >> Let me plug in my headphones real quick so I don't get that echo and I can hear you guys. >> Yeah, this one. Yeah. >> Okay. Can you guys hear me? >> Yes. >> Yeah. He's trying to get that >> perfect. Can you guys hear me now? >> Yeah. Hold on just a second. >> Okay. Yep. >> Okay. >> Try it again. Right. >> Okay. Can you hear me? All right. >> Perfect. >> Yeah. >> Awesome. Okay. I can hear you guys as well. Perfect. So, I don't know how much of you guys caught that then. Sorry about that. Do you need me to go back to that first option or we could start keep going from here? >> Yeah, go back

to the first one, please. >> Okay. >> Yep. So, what we're looking at with this option, we have a arch press on top, but the we can change those logos, change the lettering. This is just to start off with the conceptual. We have that ad panel that we kind of discussed before with the paid for by Colestrip community. And then we have a video board with the active area that is 13 by 25. And then below that would be our what we call our fixed digit scoreboard. So that way you always have the time the score shown so you can fully use the video board at all times and not have to worry about that being taking up part of your zone. And then you have your anchor sponsors below where we'll get into Ben's

side of things to help solo sponsors to give them some spotlight there. This is what it looks like for a photo imposed rendering of where that existing board is now to give you kind of an idea of that size it would take up. And then the next option that we'd be looking at here is a 9 by15 active area of that video here with your anchor part earners instead of being on that bottom being on the sides of the video. A similar trust on top your similar paid for by the community and same thing with that fixed digit. So, this is kind of a little bit smaller option than that first one. And here's what that looks like. And then we have our final option we put together, which is a 17 by 30 option.

So, this is a larger option than the first two. Similar truss on top, similar fixed digit scoreboard below with your anchor partners, and you're paid for by the community. So, that's what we have for our football options. And I can jump into our basketball real quick and then we can kind of get into Ben's side of things. So, this would be our video option that we put together. It's 6 and 1/2 ft tall by 11 and just over 11 and 1/2 ft wide. Your anchor partners would go on the side there and then you have a truss on top. This is what that looks like photo imposed kind of that right where that flag is now we'd be be right below that and then on the opposite side kind of what we discussed was doing

a standard fixed digit scoreboard with our stats panels on the side. So that would look like this photo imposed on the opposite side of the video board. So and Ben I'll let you jump into how we make this possible. any any questions on kind of how all the technology works together to start. First off, >> I will interject just a little bit. Um, >> so they said the inside ones can hook up to our wrestling system and it will kind of autopop populate those results. The outside one could integrate with our track system and then it could populate those results of the places for each lane. >> So, it would get more use than just taking videos for that section. Um, and then also the paid for by the Col community. I don't know if

I want that exact wording, but I was very adamant about acknowledging that our taxpayers >> put so much money into this stadium. So, I wanted that somewhere static on the scoreboard. Okay. >> And this is just like we said a conceptual to start off. So, just to give you an idea of here, here's a starting point and we can adjust the design of it as needed. But here's an example for what you were talking about about what that looks like for the track results or wrestling results there. So here's an example of Kelly Walsh High School hosting state track in Wyoming. And this is what those autopop populate. It integrates with their their timing system to then show those times right away and be able to have their calls on the bottom and different aspects.

So, just wanted to give you a visual of what that looks like. >> Any other questions on that? >> Nice. Perfect. All right, Ben, take it away for >> dive into the the fundraising side. So, that that's my specific role and I've been doing it now for um almost eight years. I cover a lot of rural areas. So I cover Montana, Wyoming, and then western South Dakota, Nebraska, and Kansas. And so I I really get involved in these video board projects because video boards are not cheap. And there's also an opportunity for you guys to generate some revenue on them. So our service is free. Um free meaning we however much or little you use our service, it doesn't affect the cost of the project. Um, if you use me to my fullest or you

don't use me at all, the project doesn't change cost. We also don't take a commission split. Um, there's a lot of marketing companies that take commission splits where if they help you, they take 50% or 40% or 25%, whatever it is. We don't take any commission split. The reason for that is we want you to buy a Dacttronics video board, obviously. So we want to be good partners and good stewards of you and your sponsors for the life of the board which is hopefully 10 plus years. Um, how it kind of works is I help you guys design what you want to offer your sponsors both monetarily, so how much are the sponsorship worth? And then what are we offering them? And so that is like those ad panels, how do we want to incorporate

ad panels, fixed ad panels into the design of the equipment or into the facility, commercials, what do we want to offer for commercials and how much are those worth? Do we want to do first down sponsorships and three-point sponsored by and timeout sponsored by all that stuff? And so I help you kind of think through how to do that during a game. We a lot of people will sometimes think, well, we'll just sell 57 30 second commercials. Well, that's not really feasible because one it be ultimately it becomes white noise for the fans in the stands and that's not valuable for you. It's not valuable for the sponsors. So, we kind of want to design packages that put people in specific tiers or levels so that maybe the only top four to six sponsors are

getting that 30 secondond commercial in-game. So, if there's four sponsors getting that, that's only two minutes of commercials per varsity basketball game, for example. So, that leaves time for your band and your cheerleaders and things like that. So, we we we don't want the sponsors to dominate the game. We still want a lot of fun things to happen on the video board. still want fun things and people to be recognized during the events. And another thing is just could be a lot. It can kind of be stressful fulfilling your sponsorship contracts. And so I'm here to kind of help you design what do you think we can fulfill in year one. And hopefully we underpromise and overd deliver so that come year five it's an easy or year three or whatever it is, however the

length is for that contract, it's an easy yes for the sponsors to re-up those agreements. Now, typically we don't we don't we're not working with the Walmarts of the world, the McDonald's of the worlds, and a lot of big brands like that. It's going to be your local um car dealerships and implement dealers and um farming cooperatives and banks and medical centers and real estate agents. It's people like that. And so, it's people really you already have relationships with. Um, so I'm essentially helping you guys build this nice structured relationship or partnership that fits you and your local sponsors so that everybody's happy. Um, we want you guys to make a good amount of money on your board because it's worth it. And then we also want it to be worth it for your sponsors

that they're getting recognized and good advertising for your people in the stands, but all for locally, but also the people visiting. Um, so then once we get all that set, we can put together the the presentation material, however that works, whether it's a printed out document, a a PowerPoint presentation, a Facebook post, email blast, we can help you word and put create all of that. And then as far as meeting with sponsors, I'm available to travel out there and help you with meet with sponsors, but generally speaking, probably 95% of my projects, I don't actually have face-to-face conversations with sponsors because we do a really good job of getting your booster club or your athletic director, whoever it is, really. We get them really prepared to handle the conversation on their own. And then I'm

kind of like a lifeline if needed and I can help with those negotiations as they go. So then once they sign up the sponsors or get them to commit verbally. We can then provide a template agreement. Um that's just a simple two-page marketing agreement for between the school and the sponsor. And then once they sign that agreement, we can then engage with the sponsor and collect the commercials and the logos and all that. So when the board gets installed, it's just an easy upload. We help upload it, help create this the the layout on the user interface to so that come the first basketball game, volleyball game, football game, It's easy plug and play and you can kind of follow the game day script that we make for you. So that the first time out

is sponsored by this company. We check that off of the list. The first first down is sponsored by this company. We check that off the list. We kind of help you through that process so that it's pretty easy for the foreseeable future until you want to grow it and expand it. So that's kind of the the the uh five minute elevator pitch I have for this first marketing service that we have. um open to any questions right now on how it how it's structured, how we do it in other places or how we've done it at other schools in Montana. >> I got the more than five minute pitch, so I'm not >> I can share an example of the document that we create for you. Would that be valuable? Um, do you guys want

to see it? >> It's just basically like if you're a level one sponsor, then you get this stuff. If you're a level two sponsor, you get this a level. So, he had three levels set up. >> Yeah. >> And then each one was just a different price and then you got more things. >> Sure. >> Yeah. >> Okay. I'll share that real fast. >> Yeah. >> So, okay. No, I think um >> so we solicit sponsors first or we build the board first. What is so they can build the board to our budget. >> Okay. >> So we don't have to put up a ton of money right now. We can go solicit first and they can build to that. >> Okay. >> Correct. Is that correct? I' I'd say most most of my projects

specifically in my region um we are helping you on the front end. We kind of have an idea as to how the board is going to look um and how we're going to fulfill those sponsors. Um you know like indoor wise whether it's an 8 by5 or a 7 by12 board there's a big gap there or there's a big spread in cost but it doesn't impact how we recognize the sponsors during the game. So, just a hypothetical example, if you're shooting for the 30-foot video board and we can't get it and we get the 25-footer, great. But we can design the packages on those renderings you saw. They basically look the same. Um, but just the the the height or the width of the ad panel changes a little bit based on the size of

the video board. The commercials are the same. The first down sponsorships are the same. All that's the same. It's just the size. So, yes, most of our projects is on the front end. um especially in my my region where it's just mostly rural schools, we kind of have to do that. And honestly, I prefer it. Um on average, we see even in towns of 2,000 to 2500 people, we see about 45 to 50 grand per year coming in. Um from usually about 10 to 16 sponsors. Um, so we we're we're gonna keep it fairly exclusive, fairly limited, but um really really deliver on our on our commitments to those sponsors and really give them really good exposure. So, but ultimately it's your guys' call on how you want to do that. Whether it's before or

after you buy or if you want 25 sponsors or 10 sponsors, I just kind of help you navigate those waters. And something to point out for this project specifically, that would be that 50,000 kind of average you were talking about. It's typically per venue. >> Yeah, per venue. >> Something to keep in mind with this >> because we can package this one as they can be a sponsor for both or they could be a sponsor for one. So, a little unique in that sense or if you wanted to focus on one to start, then do the other. However you see fit there. We we we have we have towns and we have schools in towns smaller than Pstrip that are bringing in 100 grand per year. It's just um 125 grand per year even. So

it's it's really just what you guys are comfortable with, what makes sense for you and your local partnerships and then we just make it happen. So >> how long does it take to build one? >> A partnership or like the video board itself? >> Yep. Usually about eight weeks. 8 to 10 weeks is manufacturing lead time depending on the time of year. >> So we need to decide on a board first >> probably size. No >> no no. So we we will solicit sponsors. Okay. So basically indoor and outdoor were the ones that we looked at. We had four anchor sponsors. >> So we know we have four spots four anchor spots to sell out and four to sell in. Okay. >> So those don't change. And then the rest of it's just digital. So

that doesn't matter. Okay. >> So if we go out and solicit sponsors, we know we can sell those four spots and give them digital plus we can sell just digital. >> Okay. >> And then depending on how much we sell. Um then we can build the boards from there. Okay. >> Okay. We know we know we have this general idea. We want four anchor slots in and four out. >> And that's really all we need to know at this point. >> Can I ask a question? Sure. Uh, Ben and Ryan, do you have any web integration at all with schools >> as far as like playing websites on the video board? Is that or um >> or like displaying live scores on our website? >> Oh, yeah. Um or or streaming is I guess kind

of a little more um in what way showing scores on your on your website? Is it is it a stream? Is it like Twitter? Is it >> So, it would be a live score update. >> Okay. On on like an athletic website. >> Correct. Yep. We have Thrillshare through Apog. >> Okay. Let me look into that. >> I believe that can plug into the console then. >> Okay. >> If that's the one I'm thinking because they did that in um at Kelly Walsh. >> Okay. >> They have a similar thing, but we can get confirmation for you there. >> Yeah. >> You're looking to have a lot. Basically, it takes our information as an RTD as real-time data and outputs it to the website is what I'm understanding. >> We can get confirmation for you

on that, but I believe that is something that we would be able to do for you. Basically, we just need the output. >> Thank you. >> Yep. No problem. Something also to keep in mind, I know we touched on our meeting, is uses outside of athletics. So, there's a lot more uses outside of athletics than people typically tend to consider. Like, I have a I have a school that does reading under the lights. They have the elementary kids out there and they do a reading under the lights. You can have a laptop plugged in and share your screen there and have the a book being read or have a video out there for a for a class. You have a presentation. People do graduations indoor. You have community events. I I recently had a school

that's hey we host a lot of our events for the community. They've hosted funerals. They've hosted assemblies. They've had grad nights. They've done all sorts of things you can think of where they can use that board. So a lot of uses outside of athletics to think of as well. >> Sounds good to me. >> Yeah, me too. So I need permission to move forward with uh working with Dacttronics to solicit sponsors. >> Okay. I move Colstrip public school board of trustees approves Dacttronics as the company we use for purchasing both of the new CHS scoreboards and for Sabrina >> and Rich >> to solicit sponsors to help fund those scoreboards. >> Second. >> Okay. Motion to second. Any public comment on this? Trey Croft. Trey. >> Hi. So, as the band director, can can you

all hear me? >> So, as the band director, I have a little bit of concern because we do go through and we do play and taking that playing time away from my kids is a concern at this point, especially since that's being said. Um, we don't play a whole lot, but I also don't know exactly how these commercials are supposed to be done. That that's my main question. >> Anything away from the ban, Trey? Um, I think that's something that we can work out on on just >> Well, and I think one of the gentlemen said something about the the commercials are tailored to where it still allows time for the cheerleaders to perform and the band to perform is the way what I >> so like if someone makes a three-pointer then it would

be like three-point sponsor of the game is so and so and then it would flash on the screen. So, it's not going to be we're not taking over timeouts and stuff like that. >> Okay. Because that's what it sounded like to me is that there was also be a time timeout sponsor and so on and so forth. >> No, we're we're we're certainly not going to uh take away from our our bets. >> Okay. That was just my main concern because I was I was hearing there'd still be enough time, but what is the def definition of enough time? >> We don't want to do that. >> All right. Yeah. And as pro- sponsorship as I am, I'm not so prosponsorship. That's the only thing that I see. >> I know. I told him we

didn't want to look like absolute. >> We don't want to NASCAR your event up with sponsor. >> Oh, Terry. >> Terry. >> Oh, >> sorry. Can you hear me? >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, Terry Bowen, athletics something assistant. Um, so question, I guess. Are we going to have to have somebody like sitting at the table now to officially be doing this? Because right now we have book clock, shot clock, you know, um like during basketball games and stuff, we don't have an announcer. We don't have somebody sitting there to take care of this to to make sure that it says three points sponsored by or does it how does that work? >> Yeah. And that's that's all information that I would take in and know going in when we're, you know, so maybe we're not

going to sell a three-point sponsorship and that's fine. Um, you know, so we can set it so that it's it just rotates sponsors on different parts of the video board continuously. Um, you do have to have someone there to play things like a 30 secondond commercial pregame or something like that. Um, but if if you don't feel like you can fulfill something like a three-point sponsorship or a player of the game sponsorship, then we just won't offer it. Um, you know, maybe we supplement that for a second tier with with an ad panel below the scoreboard and stat panel in the gym or something like that. But again, it's that's all information that that I talk to you guys about and know about. So that yeah, we don't want to promise three-point sponsorships if we

can't fulfill it. So really, we we can set it so that your your scores table doesn't change at all. Someone tells the video board to play the the scoreboard, the staff panel and rotate your sponsors. Um, and that just plays throughout the game and really nothing's changing. Um, you still have a scorekeeper, you still have people doing the shot clock and the game clock and things like that. And it just be as simple as that. Um, and then the person operating the scoreboard can actually be the one who just quickly triggers like a 30 second commercial during some dead time. Um, so it can be as simple as that or we can build it out to incorporating more fun things and flashy things for sponsors >> because like currently right now we do have a

sponsor at all or not sponsor an announcer at all football games. We just haven't had an announcer at all basketball or volleyball or any indoor sports other than during tournaments. So, it's just something to think about is whether or not we're going to have >> a dedicated person to be an announcer. >> And those animations, like if you do a three-point animation, it can just be visual as well. Like say you have a ABC bank and it's three-pointer and you just have their little logo in the bottom. Nothing even has to necessarily be said over the um speakers. And a lot of the time that's how at a lot of my schools will do that is they don't necessarily announce it every time like three points sponsored by or timeout sponsored by. It's just on

the board. >> Yeah. >> So that's something to keep in mind as well for that. >> Yeah. We can set it so that when when your scorekeeper hits plus three like they currently do, it automatically plays a three-point animation on the video board and it plays for seven seconds and then goes away. and the the scorekeeper >> the scorekeeper triggered it without even knowing that the scorekeeper triggered it, you know. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Thank you. >> Anything else? >> I'll go to the mic. Francis, >> hi. >> Okay. >> Thank you guys for the question. >> Thanks guys. We'll be in touch and we'll get stuff rolling. >> Of course. Thank you guys. Have a good rest of your night. Bye. >> Thank you. That'll be good. >> That's gonna be really good. I'm

excited. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Then we'll move back up uh 7.01. >> Okay. I'd like to recommend to hire classified staff 2627 school year. Joden Rita as CHS secretary. I move the Coaster Public Schools Board of Trustees approves Jod Rita High School secretary high >> for the 2627 school year. >> Second. >> We have a motion second. Any public comment on this? Any further board? Francis. >> Hi. >> Sabrina. >> Hi. >> Tiff. >> Hi. >> This is Terry again. I just want to say thank you. I appreciate that there'll be a secretary next year. I have I have other stuff for you, Terry. Don't worry about it. >> Don't run her off, Terry. >> We need you announcing now basketball games. >> Thanks, Terry. >> Uh 7.02. >> Okay. I'm not Rich Slater,

but I will be making his recommendation to rehire extracurricular staff 2627 school year. Trey Croft, CHS drum line, and take them together. You can Nathan Goodlock, CHS assistant uh football coach. I move the Coaster Public Schools Board of Trustees approves the extracurricular rehires of Trey Croft for CHS drum line for the 2627 school year and Nathan Goodluck, CHS assistant football coach for the 2627 school year. >> Second. >> Okay, motion second. Any public comment on this? Any further board? >> Francis. >> Hi. >> Serena. >> Hi. >> Diff. >> I three. All right, be making uh more recommendations for extracurricular hires for 2627 school year. Crystal Cox, CHS assistant BPA advisor and Karen Briggs, CHS academic Olympic sponsor. >> I move the Culture Public Schools Board of Trustees approves Crystal Cox, CHS assistant BPA advisor

and Karen Briggs, CHS academic Olympic sponsor for the 2627 school year. >> Second. >> Okay. Motion and second. Any public comment on this? Any further board? Francis. >> Hi, >> Sabrina. >> I >> Tiff. >> I4 individual transportation contracts. So, we have three families that are reuring so that there's no one new this year. And so they live outside of we don't have that north route going. So they need individual transportation contracts. So >> okay. >> I move the Coastal Public Schools Board of Trustees approves elementary and high school district individual transportation contracts for Tori Kester, Virginia Larson, and Cara Watson for the 26 27 school year. >> Second. >> Okay. Motion second. Any public comment on this? Any for the board? Francis. >> Hi. >> Sabrina. >> Hi. >> Tiff. >> Hi. >> All

right. >> 75. >> So, these are FP14's um district of residence agreements for you to approve. There is one that left us in March that is attending a school nearby school. Um I put those all in the in the executive session so you guys can see those without um violating any names. Um so that is the one for that's that's the remaining of this year and then there are two for next year. Um those I believe will be dropped if that family does end up moving but right now they still reside in our district. So that's why um they had to have this form filled out. So, you guys are just acknowledging and approving that we will have to pay tuition at some point for them. >> I don't have I can't see it. Uh

>> oh. >> Let me see. >> Can you sure? So, it's saying that these individuals are not going to be in district. Is that what you're saying? Sorry. >> Yes. >> Not in district, >> but they they reside in our district. >> Oh, I see what you're saying. And they're >> It's just like the ones we send to Linder. They reside in Linder and then >> Yep. >> Okay. >> Their board already approved them. No, it's our turn. >> Okay. Got it. >> But if they physically move before school starts or even anytime during the year, >> then we will charge tuition. Y gotcha. >> Okay. I move the Colro Public Schools Board of Trustees approves the FP14 district of resident agreement as presented for the 2526 school year and the FP14 district of residence

agreements as presented for the 2627 school year. >> Second. Okay. Motion second. Any public comment on this? Any further board? >> Francis. >> Hi. >> Sarina. >> Hi. >> Uh 7.06. >> All right. I'd like to recommend uh that Katie Noer receives a $6,000 stipen for her time and effort this past semester and then and the upcoming what she's doing in May and June since her curriculum director duties haven't officially started. She's been doing a lot of after hours work on title grants um scheduling just really carried the ball to make sure we've met our requirements um in those areas. So, she's been putting in a lot of work since January. >> I move the Colster Public Schools Board of Trustees approves the $6,000 stipen for Katie Noser. >> Second. >> Okay. Motion second. Any

public comment on this? Any further board? Thank you for doing that, by the way, Katie. So, >> yeah. >> With that, Francis. >> Hi, Sabrina. Hi >> Jeff. >> Hi. >> 7.07. >> Okay. Election results. >> Okay. Oh, we had an election on May 6th. Um it went well. Um it's all back here for you guys to take a look at when you're ready. We had um 33% of the voters show up, which is quite a bit lower. Um I kind of expected that without running the levies that um people there our numbers may be lower. So um we had a very close race this year and so with that we did have some provisional ballots and a provisional ballot they didn't include their birth year and I contacted them. I made phone calls. I

wrote letters. I did everything I could to try to get them in the office and so we did get some um last minute come in. So those are provisionals and then we the counting board reconvened 5 days later and met to count those. Those were 10 extra votes. And so we do have the unofficial results on the table and all of the ballots for you guys to look at and Barbara Nem was um our winner. So yeah, not much else to share there. Went it went really well. I just wanted to thank I always want to thank my office because >> um our girls put in a lot of work. Um Chris, Becca, and Morgan all put in a lot of work to help run an election. It takes it takes a group of us.

So, um but it went really well and my accounting judges. Um so we had Donnie, we had Vicky Gunderson, Patty Dunn, and Linda Myers. So we had one of them had to be an alternate for that provisional county. So yeah, so I'm just really thankful for them to come and they always It always goes off without a flaw. So >> nice. >> Yeah. >> And it goes off without a flaw because Britney's behind it all. So amazing. No, >> no, not this year. Yeah, we'll go backwards. >> And I I'll just talk about that while you're looking at that, Sabrina. Um I had a lot of voters come in and say, "Did you actually really look at my signature?" And I'm like, "Yes." So the county provides that list of um registered voters in the

county. And we look at the uh signature, make sure it matches. We look for characteristics that um match up and if I have any questions I reach out to the county election administrator um Sally Warner. So um but some people really were surprised that we actually go to that length and I said, "Yep, we do." And they're like, "Well, we've never been told that, but we've never been questioned before." And I'm like, "Well, uh I take that job very seriously." So >> if somebody's signature doesn't match, then do you have them come in and prove it's them? >> Yes. So if I know them, I give them a call and say, "Hey, can you come in?" If I don't know them, I have to get their number from the county. And a lot of people

haven't updated their phone numbers with the county. >> And so if I wasn't able to get a hold any of anyone, I had to mail them a letter and let them know, "Your signature doesn't match. Please come in." And if I didn't know them, they had to provide an ID, show us who they are, and then um fill out a form that updates their signature, and then I can send those back to the county so that they can update their records, too. And so that hopefully in the in the future, >> they don't have to keep having this issue. But we do count it. So if they bring it in or if they brought it in the next day by 5:00, then that was considered a provisional. So >> Okay. >> Yeah. So, you don't

just not accept the signature and to pass it? >> Oh, no, no, no. We do everything that we can to contact the person. There's nothing I can do if they don't come back in and do it. And so, no, those votes don't count. >> And I do keep all of those. And we have >> pretty big stack of undeliverable mail. Ballots can't be forwarded. So undeliverable mail, I take a copy of every single one and send it to the county so that they know, hey, this person moved on. I mail that person a letter if the post office gave us a forwarding um address because they can't forward it for us. So then I had to mail out a lot of letters to let them know and hopefully they will fill out the form and

give it back and then I can give that to the county and say here's their new address and they mark they check mark a box that says no I no longer live in Colrip. I am no longer a Colrip vote or Rose County voter. So yeah there's a there's there's a lot to there's a lot of processes. >> Can they uh can you do that online? >> That I don't know. I don't know if they can do that online. >> I don't know if you can because you have to sign it. >> Yeah, it is a it is a form that they sign. They check mark. Hey, I no longer live here. Um, so I'm not sure. >> Well, good job. >> Thank you, Brett. >> Welcome. >> Do we officially approve this? >> Yeah.

Yeah. >> May 5th. >> Okay. Um, I move the Cure Public Schools >> That's a That's a typo. >> Board of Trustees >> May 6th. >> Approve the May 6th. 2026 trustee election result of Barbara Nem to a three-year trustee term. >> Second. >> Okay. Motion second. Any public comment on this? >> Any further board? >> Francis. >> Hi, >> Serena. >> Hi, >> Jeff. >> I >> uh request to move June 8th board meeting. >> Why do we need to move it? >> Uh you don't have to move it. Um that was when we we're talking about moving it the is it MTSBA conference that's for school board superintendent >> oh you're going >> I'm going >> Francis and I are going >> all in. >> We can move it. I would rather if

you guys are going to that not have to worry about >> I'm not because we have baseball. >> Yeah. >> All week we have baseball. >> Yeah we do. >> And >> so I'll be here. >> I don't know if our new trustee is looking at possibly attending that either. We can talk about that. Um, but I don't have a problem moving it. >> We could do June 11th. >> Yeah. >> Thursday that week. >> Yeah. We'll be back. Well, the night of the 9th. So, we'll leave the 8th. >> Yeah. >> For some reason, we do baseball on Friday. Unless I have it around here. Good. The only thing I have in my calendar is the master's lottery. >> Let me check one more. >> You said the 11th. >> Uh, let me check.

Yeah, just to make sure. >> Yeah. >> Oh, but not. >> Yeah. So, we can do that. Yeah. June 11. >> You want to do the 11th? I think. >> Yeah, that works great. >> Same time. >> Yes, I think so. >> Yeah. Okay. I move the Coast Public Schools Board of Trustees approves to move the regular board meeting on June 8th, 2026 to June 11th, 2026 at the same time. >> Second. Okay. Motion second. Any public comment on that for the board? Then you don't have to worry about that. So >> Francis, >> hi >> Serena. >> Hi Jeff. >> Hi. That one 7.10. >> All right. um we had our professional development uh PI committee meet and we plan for our upcoming year's uh calendar for those days and I have it here

as presented to you to recommend that we um adopt this report and I just really want to add um thanks to all the teachers and everybody that came and contributed. It was really a um great combination of people working together and really good planning. So >> good. >> We even had some fun. >> Nice. >> Looks good. Okay. I move the Coast Public Schools Board of Trustees approves the 2627 professional development calendar. >> Second. Okay. Motion second. Any public comment on this Mars social science. I just had a question because there is proficiency based learning on the proposed um PDW calendar. Is that expected to be a change next year or the year after? If we are learning about it next year, >> we'll be working on it this upcoming year, but I know it

won't be fully in place, but the state is asking us to I can check on like when they're requiring it by us to be done, but we just have to be working on it right now. Okay. So, that's a state change. Yeah. Okay. >> Anything else? Any for the board? Francis. >> Hi. >> Serena. >> Hi. >> Tiff. >> Hi. >> Okay. With that, we'll go into our work session. We have some uh couple of policies. Um go ahead. Uh 8.01. Oh, okay. Yeah. Um yeah, just >> this the one >> this is the employee. >> Sorry, I thought it was okay. >> So, um I just kind of stumbled across this one and found some conflicting um language in here. Um it before we had open enrollment period for a month. I don't know

where that came from, but we really only do it for the first week of the school calendar and we advertise that and all of that. So really, um, the open enrollment period changes every year. So I struck out the date and then the anniversary dates of the health and dental insurance policy for the district shall be July through June as per contract with the insurance carrier, although the insurance plan runs through se runs from September to August. Why I crossed that off is because we did a lot of work with Bridge um to get them to approve. So when a new teacher comes on in September, they're they pay like a few months of their deductible and then it rolls over in January because they we've always worked off the calendar year. They agreed to

do September through August for us so that a new teacher coming in is paying into their deductible right away. So in doing that, I also got them to change the agreement to start in September. What what having it in June or July does to us is when EBMS increases our renewal in the past every year. Um the teachers are still paying the old rate for the summer months while we end up having to pay the new rate because of the renewal being July 1st. And so I also got them to change that to September. So this year, the renewal year, they're going to include those months. So it'll be like a 14-month renewal, which is really nice of them to do. Um, so people will actually have a little bit longer to pay their deductible

and things like that as well. So that's why I got rid of that. I felt like it was just kind of didn't wasn't really prepared to put new language in there. And this is just up for discussion tonight since it's a work session and we'll bring it back for the regular board meeting. So if you guys have other suggestions or you know if anyone really wants that language in there, we can put it in there. Um I didn't I didn't see the need to put it in there, but if someone else does, we can definitely put the dates in there. So but I think it's definitely helping the staff. >> Good. >> Makes sense to me. So >> Okay. Yeah. So, just bring that one back. Okay, >> that'll be fine. Uh 8.02 policy 2600.

Okay, this one is mine. So, I know we brought um a couple classes to you through steering around February. uh the OPI had said from the CTE department they had sent us uh me a message directly at asking some questions about co-op and how things are changing how they're working and we brought a couple classes to you guys integrated learning was the main one so that was kind of the umbrella and then Chris had set up a Zoom meeting with them not too long ago I was involved in a little bit of that and they in that meeting they were informing us that they had changed to work based learning and this is a policy that we didn't accept last fall but now with the OPI saying that we they're requiring really this policy to

be in place Chris has worked on it just because of all of our accreditation standards make sure we offering the right classes for our kids so with that in mind we need to bring this so that some of those um work experiences that they are doing can be specifically on their their transcript um and that we're aligned with the OPI and doing things as accredititation requires us. So, it's really coming from them. And then um we'll be bringing some more classes since we're doing this. We had some other questions too about some courses that I'm going to try to get a steering committee together uh this summer um and get those in for our kids too because I found out they had some needs that will fall underneath this. And I've got a handout actually

if anybody's interested on an example of that with some of the classes, but we'll be bringing it all to you later. >> Okay. So, I'm recommending policy 26 2600 workbased learning be adopted by the board. >> And then if this one does go through too, there's some other things that go with it like a form that we would have with it at 2600 and whatnot. So >> we're all online and following our requirements. >> Sorry. >> All good with it. >> But we are approving tonight. I mean you want this approved tonight as well. >> We can go forward with the courses that follow. >> I move the CRA public schools board of trustees approves policy 2600 workbased learning. >> Second. question. >> Jen, >> do we have to do a date in there if

you guys are looking at bringing it forward? Because there is a date. It says to be eligible to receive credit towards graduation and application must be received by the district on an annual basis prior to date. >> Yeah, I saw that. >> Yeah, I noticed that too. And then I looked on like Manhattan site and they just leave it as blank. So, I don't know. But it's kind of like up to you guys on a >> Yeah, we talked a little bit. I thought a little bit about like prior to school starting, but I know sometimes there's schedule changing time too where they could switch, but usually with these courses, there's going to have to be some um front loing. So, I'm kind of wanting to get it done this summer or requirements for the

kids. I know when we talked to um Mile City, we're working on a CNA. The student that wanted it, we're told there's like a month before the class starts getting fingerprinted. They have just different requirements. when you start getting into the um work situations or you're going to workplace. So the date uh just maybe as needed something to that effect or it's kind of general depending on the kiddo and we could just put prior to school starting or right when school starts but in their second semester you know it yeah that doesn't if they take a second semester course then that date is going to be different here unless you put first beginning of first and second semester So you shave my hat and just leave it open. >> They probably just adopted the model.

>> Yeah, they did. They did. >> Yeah, >> because they they copied it just like it is. I just >> This is what we did, too. You don't want a kiddo not to get in because of that date, I guess, is what I thought. Um, >> what if we just say to be eligible to receive credit towards graduation, an application must be received by the district on an annual basis? >> Yeah, that's broad. Y >> say you have to meet the minutes though if you want credit like >> they have 8100 minutes 8100 >> 8100 minutes >> that you're working that you would have to meet even if you turn in an application you'd still have to meet the 8100 minutes >> right >> okay I'll amend my motion to uh remove on page one,

the last paragraph, remove prior to date. >> And once we get into it, we can change things. >> Yeah, it's new. >> Who seconded my me? >> Second. Okay. A motion second. Any public comment on that? Any further board? >> Francis. >> Hi. >> Serena. >> Hi. >> Okay. Thanks you guys. >> No worries. >> Uh, superintendent report. >> Yep. I was in my last class, last meeting, so I wasn't here when I would have normally doing my report. So, I thought I'd do it today. Um, yeah, a lot going on. End of the school year. So, conducted principal candidate search and interviews. Um, planning for next year's staffing and buildings. Let me see. I thought real highlight for me this last month was CAMass. I've only made it twice this year. This is my

third time and I really wanted to go. Susie Hedland was there to present. I know I had missed the meeting bond meeting but appreciate the board letting me go to this instead. So it was great to have the state superintendent school in mile city meeting with our regional superintendent. Um some highlights uh that she spoke about for me again where she's talking about uh it was interesting because this was a topic with us and the thing that um we've been working on here admin teamwise uh as far as trance uh current students and unexcused students and students not coming to school. So, she's had, I guess, a lot come her way, and I don't know if I've ever had a state superintendent that's kind of got down on that level, kind of nitty-gritty. So, um,

she is getting together. I'm not sure she'll have a committee how she's going to do that, but I'm going to contact her, see if I could be a part of whatever she's doing because that's just been in my career, I think really a big thing that's improved achievement for students and just all around education and their whole educational experience. So anyway, she's working on that to see what she can do because a lot of times um we just don't get that support really legally. So, um, she heard that from our group, too. Same thing she's been hearing across the state. So, we really want to help, uh, do what we can to get our kids in school, um, on a consistent basis. Let's see what else. Um, this was, this was for me, this was

really good because everybody knows like the western kind of our rural states have a high suicide rate. And so they did a survey OPI and she's gonna get from those districts that their um levels of suicide rates went down and kind of those mental health um issues with kiddos. So she's working on getting that for us to see what those districts were doing that really helped show those improvements in our in our kids' mental health. So that's something that's just always been near and dear to my heart too. I know it is for a lot of people here. Um, and then she had something I'd never heard of. Recently recognized a school district as a purple star school. So, I kind of read up on that. Um, what that is by, uh, I'll read it

to you real quick. By achieving this distinction, schools publicly signify that they have the staff, resources, and inclusive environment needed to help highly mobile military children succeed academically and personally. And if you look at studies where they're military, whomever the kids are, if student moves more than like twice in their career in school, the at risk factor goes up by quite a bit as far as a dropout and other at risk things that we don't want kids involved with. So, I thought this was pretty cool to be able to maybe get to be a part of that next year and see what that takes um just to honor and help military military kiddos. Um, she did really hit on the mass test. So, I know I've talked to Katie already, did some little bit of

discussion with her this morning about looking into this. Katie knows you'll be our curriculum director next year as far as how we're preparing our kiddos um for the the mass test and and and right now our scores weren't really weren't that great. So, we're going to be getting those to you guys too here soon. Um, but she's working on that. Let's see. I guess that's kind of the end of my report from CMAS. And then I've been just been meeting with Payton a lot. Um been great getting to work with with him, getting to know him. And I one thing I just want to kind of brag on him about is it doesn't take long if I bring something up to him like this two-factor authentication so that we um aren't susceptible to viruses and

losing all of our data. And uh we were told, I know Britney and I have that meeting with the our our rep from MSGIA and Brenda Coach, he just said last year, if you guys need to worry about confidentiality and everything else, you need this. You need to work on that. And so I brought it to Payton and he's already I think I said, "How long will it take you?" He said, "Not long at all." So I think we had it like the next day because he said, "How about if we pilot it here in the central office?" and and I told them I said, "You know, I went through this in one district and I was concerned about, you know, people not wanting to have to use their private devices and just just some

of those things kind of troubleshoot." He said they don't have to and he explained how that could be done. So, um, anyway, he's been really go getting things and also we we're working on he's he's getting after those internet servers and phone system so that if there is a consolidation that we're all set up for that. I know Evan got that ball rolling and Payton's picking that up and quite a few other things. So, we've been meeting weekly. Um, summer maintenance got people seasonal hires gone through the Chris and Robert. Um, let's see. Chris and Bart went to the teacher recruiting fair in Bosezeman. They spoke to a lot of potential candidates, but we have no recruits as of now from that. Um, so it's just another thing that kind of wanted to test the

waters again after last year not getting anybody from those career fairs and just see what the difference might be this year and it kind of was the same. So, let's see. See, Professor Oh, the committee mentioned that already. That was really good because that was pointed out to me that we needed to have that committee. I didn't know that last year and I really like the input that we get from staff. So that we're again hitting on all cylinders and things that are really needed. So that was that was a great experience for me and working with them and not in isolation. So enjoy that. Um I did have an HR on practices last last week. Um sat in Jen was there, Bart was there from MTSBA. So they kind of went over hiring practices,

termination practices, and all those kinds of legally things along employee route. Um, and I did send a group of our our supervisors to it's called True Speak by McGrath. Uh, I forget her first name. That's that's the lady's last name that began this um company to train principles, administrators really in um evaluating, supervising, and just how to address um legally um personnel issues. So, um Jen was there, Britney was there, and it was the first time in Montana um that they've done this. And so, I know when they were um at that, I'll skip down a little bit here. They also learned a little bit about the Title N compliance. They have a compliance program, a comprehensive training for administrators, and I'm going to be looking into that. Um, so that people that are doing

the investigating, the decision making, all those different roles. Um, so it's a little bit different than like down below you're going to see that um I'm contracting with MTSBA to come in for half a day for all of the staff to be trained um just to get and they they just kind of touch on every a little bit of everything. It's a 4-hour training for the whole staff. The one that McGrath does though, that's for those people that are in those roles, in those jobs, and administrators who really need to know um all the ins and outs of that because it has gotten so much more complicated than it used to be. Uh it's really kind of blown up just the last few years. So, I know when they came back, they said, "This is

something that we found out about." And I had heard about it a little bit, but I didn't really look into it yet. So, I'll be doing that this summer. um been going to the negotiations. Oh, and some real good fun stuff. PBS field day. Um that was really nice day for those that were there. Great weather and Georgie Bear did an awesome job putting that together. And then um was at the all district powow. I know Nikki Barrett Molen did a lot of work for that. Uh let's see. Completed last semester. Oh, I'm almost done with all my superintendent requirements. I had no idea how much time and energy and effort those classes would take away. But um so trying to keep up with that, my internship hours came to an end and all my

reflections and papers and all that I had to do for the internship are all done. So right now I just have this final um that I have due on Sunday. So be finishing all that up. Be completely done. Just kind of on a personal professional note. Um learned a lot a lot of really good stuff about Montana and school districts. And um this last one was at finance. Got a lot of help from Britney and Jen and just about anybody ask I could ask a question of. So anyway, got a lot better handle on that. Not even touching anything close to what Britney knows, but anyway, be able to talk a little bit more intelligently and help with that, son. And then uh we had graduation as you know. Um we had end of the

year celebration over at the elementary school. I did have to miss the middle school promotion though because of the big water break and dealing with that and all the ins and outs of sending kids home, making sure they're all done for the school year and staff and everything and when you kind of kept um a breast of all those situations that day. So, I'm sorry I didn't get over there. So, that's that's kind of been my last month >> and with all of that >> with everything you've done this year. I was just gonna say >> and everything that you've gone through this year. >> I want everybody to know that uh Superintendent Scott Tremba was voted superintendent of the year from Camass >> and 21 of his other peers. So that is a huge

>> congratulations on that. >> I forgot about that. >> Congratulations >> to be recognized from all those other superintendents on the job you're doing here. >> Yep. >> Thanks. Yeah, it's been a good experience and I always say I didn't really earn it. I got a lot of good teammates still that um >> yeah part of that for sure. >> You let them do their job too. So that's that's important. >> Thanks. >> Good job. >> Thanks. Yeah, >> it was an honor, but it's again team effort. So >> good job. >> Transportation report. Um Rich kind of threw some stuff together for us. Of course, he's on his way back. He's headed for divisional track tomorrow, I believe. So, >> take off tonight. >> So, yeah, >> he's making the rounds. >> He is

making the rounds. >> I I have no questions on that. So, >> with that, we'll move to the tech report. Pete, you got anything you need to add? >> No, just um keeping a short sweet, we did move up with the project. Um by the end of the week we will have um more tech updates on Facebook and our website. Got some more photos today. Did get the Google upgrade figure it out and my team um what superintendent talked about the two-factor authentication. We implemented it out with parts of the district. Um still an ongoing project. It's going to be a busy busy busy summer and my team's working right now to hopefully get as many projects done as we can. So, we're doing what we can and with what we got and looking forward

to the summer. >> Good job. >> Good. The students will they have the two-factor authorization. >> Perfect progress. Um, other school districts do have it, but that requires >> a phone. a phone which there's been discussions with. >> It's up in the air right now, but right now the people with PII and critical sensitive information, those are the people that I'm more concerned about. >> Um, and so we're working >> hopefully by the next year somewhere in the future to get that fully rolled out. >> Okay. Good. >> All right. With that, I'll adjourn this meeting.
