Conference will now be recorded. Hey, I'll >> call the meeting to order. Mike Ziggler, chair >> Tonnie Sassy, trustee. >> Bo Gibbs, vice chair. >> Stephan Strive, superintendent. Josh is on the phone. Josh >> Josh, trustee. >> Jay Failen, trustee. >> Okay. uh takes us to approve the consent agenda. We've been having a motion, a second on that. >> Uh I'll make the motion to approve the consent agenda. >> I'll second. >> It's been moved and seconded. Any comments, public comments or discussion required? If not, all in favor say I. >> I. Any opposed? Motion carries. That takes us to communication. Any public comment and anything not on the agenda? No. Okay. That takes us to report to inform trustees of the filing timeline. Oh, thanks. But I'm yoursed now. Uh so yeah, report to

inform trustees filing timeline. My seat is up and actually yeah threw my hat in the ring again. So there's that. >> Uh takes us to reports. Guess if everyone's had a chance to read those there's any questions or anything anybody wants to highlight. I have one thing that was not on my board report that I would like to highlight and um that's that we are actually not advertising for a special education teacher. We actually have all of those positions filled and I know I probably should have pair professionals and substitutes. So say that's the first time >> and custodians. Yeah. So, our classified staff, we are in need of, but I just the special ed teachers, all of the teachers go above and beyond, but I'm just super excited that we're not having to interview

right now. >> There we go. Good job. >> Anybody else? >> Not takes us to reports, discussion, and policies building updates. So, there's one little good thing that is not out that put on my report. Um, we did put a new booster heater in the Lincoln kitchen. So, um, small that was um, another item that we upgraded or repaired and replaced. Um then I suppose I do have uh not so good news uh that happened just this afternoon at the high school, but we have sewer issues that we were hoping would um uh we could get by because with the emergency sewer project we had last summer that kind of threw a wrench into our plans and so had another sewer issue that's rearing its head and we're going to have to address it some

way or another that's at the end of BNC. So that's something we're going to have to work on in the very near future. >> So other than that, if there's any anybody has any questions on either my report or anything else to do with not uh takes us to policies and we have some first readings. >> Second reading. >> Second. >> Oh yeah, that one's wrong. Oh, okay. second readings. Uh so yeah, we will need a motion, a second on these. Uh if you had any chance to read them, look them over if you have any questions. If not, >> I'll move to approve. >> I'll second. >> It's been moved and seconded. Any public comment or discussion required? Not all in favor say I. Okay. >> I >> any opposed? Motion carries. That takes

us to action items. Approval of auditorium seating purchase and installation bond project. You >> want to go? >> Uh for this we've been of course as you know working on this for um months now. um six months just getting the plans and the seating and um everything priced out. So um I was happy to see that even though there was there's been so much time since I originally priced them and then the election and then all the other stuff that um the pricing came in under what I had um put in the budget for the bond. So, we're on on budget for for the seating and so I was happy and excited to see that and it's all the options we wanted on seats. So, um now it's just a matter of getting committed so

that we can get on the schedule and have them done. Uh I have a date set for the auditorium to be finished by September 1st. So, >> you saw my board report. Um something I hadn't mentioned yet. Um, I'm pretty sure it's confirmed, but the board of public ed will have a their board meeting in September next year here in Benda, which is cool. I've been working on that for >> a little while with executive director call Flynn and uh they were able to do that. So, they'll be in Eastern Montana. So, they'll be with us and they'll be visiting us in DCC, which is pretty cool. So, so that becomes a timeline to try to get it done. >> It would be cool to have it all done by then. >> But with that

also means we have to start working on it before schools out which mean final concert at the end of school. But I think I let all principles know and the band of music teachers I didn't know too. Kind of nice to have a non- temperature related deadline, isn't it? >> Yeah. >> Non flushable. >> There the new chairs might have spots for like a sponsorship thing too. >> Yeah. So, um yeah, that's another thing that we're working on. Um the idea was is to maybe um individuals could sponsor basically you know purchase a chair or number of seats or the Gibbs family could have 10 chairs. >> Yeah. The whole row. Yeah. >> You might need a couple. >> I would like for her to be reserved while I'm a board member. Um and so

yeah, we're hoping to to get that um organized and kind of kicked off in a way and I think kind of hoping that the legacy foundation will help us facilitate some of that too, but um basically be able to to settle those. Um, we also are going to be looking at um, again, I need some help getting it put together, but in April when we want to start demolition, but we can also sell um, the old seats that are in there andor Steve had a couple ideas too, maybe some people to reach out to to see if they're in need, if if what we have would um, would fit with them. But basically the opportunity to maybe sell some of the overseas, sponsor some of the new seats and help um help for some of

that stuff that wasn't necessarily funded in in the bond on things paint and miscellaneous stuff like that. The only other last thing I'll mention here is just on my board report we talked about I've talked about the cooperative purchasing >> um and how that works with bids and stuff. So this one will be done with the cooperative purchasing which allows us to not have to go out for bid for this but >> they've already done that and done that. So we just latch on to that basically so we meet all the legal requirements. We've done this before, but just wanted to call everyone's attention to that again. This one and then and then the uh um the technology infrastructure is being done that way. >> Guess I'll make the motion to approve it. >> I'll

second. >> It's been moved and seconded. Any public comment or further discussion? If not, all in favor say I. >> I. >> Any opposed? Motion carries. That takes us to approval of technology infrastructure upgrades uh contract. Um so this one is um by design being under um our budget that we had originally done. We've been trying to figure out because of the HVAC and electrical being over. We have been trying to find ways that we can um still do what we have said we are going to do, but maybe not quite like we were going to be before. And so this is one that is going to be a cooperative um purchasing as well. And um and you know came under what we were hoping. there's, you know, the the price is, you know, like

what, 330,000, something like that. >> And um we still think that we'll have to put some more money into some of the infrastructure uh with different things um that isn't with this. Um so we're hoping to um be right around 400,000 is kind of the goal for all the technology infrastructure when it's all said and done. But this is the bulk majority. This is really just kind of getting a good um system in place, structure so that everything else can build off of it. And we're hoping that this because the high school nice thing is the high school is kind of the brains of the whole district in a way um with how they're set up. But you know the money is you know obviously just for the high school but because the money is

for the high school and the high school is the brains it really does help us to um help. and then down the road, you know, looking at what we can do for the elementary. So, this was kind of the the thing that we is going to we spent a lot of time trying to figure out what the best plan would be um for this. And um it's going to be it's going to be good. I mean, it's not, you know, way above, you know, things I would love it to be, but it's going to it's going to be 10 plus years for us having good solid internet and some of the things that we need to to have done with the technology age that we're upon. So, it is going to be modernized, which is

going to be nice, but there's going to be a lot of other pieces that has to fit to it, like access points and different things that we'll have to eventually get to kind of replace those and so forth. So, and that'll be coming down the road, but this is the the main part of it. So, >> I'll move to approve. >> I'll second. >> It's been moved and seconded. Any public comment or discussion? Further discussion required? If not, all in favor say I. >> I. I. >> Any opposed? Motion carries. Takes us to action item C, approval of gym gym floor refinishing contract. >> Let you take this one over. >> Yeah. Um so which came first? Um so the the gym floor um you know as well maybe people don't really um understand but

uh every year we do a maintenance reco people call it refinish but it's not refinishing. It's just recing new stuff the floor and then put two new layers of of seal coat on that. Um and you with the with our gyms use that have to happen at minimum. In fact, it probably shouldn't even be done more than that. But um so we we have been maintaining the G forward very well. Um every year gets that and that's getting more and more expensive every year. But uh about every 8 to 10 possibly 12 years we need to do a refinish. So we are going on year number 13 I think. um it has not been refinished and especially with the construction projects that we've had um with the locker rooms and stuff, it has seen um

a little bit more wear and tear, but um I think I put in my board report the uh you know, basically the number of hours GPS used a year. I mean, it's basically on average six days a week for you know, almost the entire year except for a month out of the summer. It's it's a reduction a little bit, but it's six days a week, 6:00 in the morning till 10 at night um all year long. And so that floor um is very important and it's important to keep it up and maintain it. Um but that wasn't part of any of our bond projects or anything like that. We didn't talk to the people for taxpayer money on that. Um we do need to refinish it this summer. We do have um the went out

to a couple different biders. um they both had us lined up for their schedule, but we have to give a notice now, but we're also working with the Legacy Foundation to pay for that. Um money has already come in um and uh we've got um more opportunities um to go to finish raising the money for that. Basically, the start date on refinishing would be no earlier than July 1st. So we basically have till 1 of July to get the rest of the funding which I don't think will be a problem at all. So especially the second we got um it was a very good number so you the whole process. >> One thing I'll add on what he said was um it didn't go in the bomb but it was part of our plans for

the levy. Mhm. >> So I mean really I mean because we have to get this on the schedule so we don't really have the funds raised. I mean um thinking about worst case scenario we don't raise anything. This is coming out of building reserve. That's what it's coming out of. This was on the plan. Um you know when we went out to the public for building reserve it just wasn't you know part of the scripted out plan for the bond. Uh it was just part of that process of what things were going to go on the bond, what things were we going to try to use the reserve levies for and this was one of them. We knew we were going to have to eventually do this because we were getting um you know there

and so we're hoping just like um but even auditorium seating or whatever you know whatever we can get raised obviously >> um allows us to use more of our building reserve on other um needed things as well. So this is a a pretty good, you know, project for that. If you, you know, before I be, like, let's say 10 years ago, you didn't see a whole lot of advertising and stuff on the courts of high schools. Um, there was some of it at that, you know, point, but it's right now it's hard to go anywhere without that. Um, it's not just us. This is everyone. um facilities are becoming more expensive and just um difficult for school districts to maintain and so it's become a very um needed thing to be able to do things

like that. Um, and so I know sometimes when you start getting advertisements and stuff on there, some people, you know, don't really like to see that, but it it for us it's very welcomed thing so we can have the nice facilities for not only our players who play on it, but like R said, this is used it's really for our community because it is used constantly. So, um, and it's nice to be able to, you know, um, have other partnerships to be able to help help with this. So, >> and then that way, I mean, I'd rather have partnerships and sponsorships than, you know, taxpayer >> dollars. But I just raise a clarifying thing. We're not voting with just a pledge of money. It's like this is covered by the building reserve fund and then

whatever they do >> is is separate but >> absolutely. >> Yeah. >> That's what I was trying to clarify. >> Yeah. Because we've made arguments to where we can't spend money we don't have with other things before. I just want to clarify >> we do have this in our building reserve to do this. We're just hoping to raise it'll offset >> so that we can use it >> for other things. And the new sewer project >> that's >> the flavoring I was giving it is the sewer project is still this afternoon. So any money that we can save and build and reserve not have to use for like or auditorium chairs helps us fix some sewer problems problems like that. So >> leg that's awesome. Thank you. >> Thank you. Yeah. >> And so we're

going to try to get a website together and we're going to try to help sell some things for the school, too. Whether it be game spots on the gym floor or even for the upper seats, see if we can't get some things going that way to help out more, too. >> Motion to approve. >> I'll second. >> It's been moved and seconded. Any further or any public comment or further discussion required? If not, all in favor say I. >> I. >> Any opposed? Motion carries. And oh, that's it. >> Yeah, there's no vocals. I can see those coming. So, we should be good. >> All right. Well, thanks everybody. Meeting adjourned. >> Thanks everyone.
