Number one. We just want to make sure you're all here. Call this meeting to order. We'll start by saying the pledge. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Notice the committee meeting is being recorded. This meeting of the school board of trustees committee of the board of trustees or committee subject to the open meeting laws being recorded in accordance with sections 2-2-01, 2-3-202, 2-3-203, and 2-3-214 MCA. All members of board committee staff and public in attendance are advised that the public portions of the meeting will be recorded in both audio and video format. Cameras and recording devices are placed throughout the meeting room to complete these recordings. Everyone in attendance is

reminded to honor basic rules of decorum during the meeting and guidance associated with providing public comment as stated in policy 1420F. By remaining in the meeting, the those present consent to being recorded and displayed in the footage that will be posted on the school district's website. Everybody signed in? Uh public Public input. Comments must be non-agenda items and related to topics under the jurisdiction of the Malta school Malta public schools. Is there any public input? Yes. I'm here to ask the school board if you guys are going to make any kind of statement or have any kind of communications with concerned parents on the principal that was placed on admin leave and then subsequently not hired back. Is there kind of communication that you plan on putting out to parents at all on this? We

>> I know details can't be talked about, but I can tell you a little shred of communication goes a long ways in terms of trust in the school board and public transparency. Is there any? We cannot talk to you during public input. We cannot interact. Okay, so I would suggest though a shred of communication to the all of the concerned people in this community. Some sort of statement or something is needed from the school. There has been nothing. And when someone gets placed on admin leave and they're in charge of a bunch of kids at the elementary school and then they're subsequently not hired back and nothing is put out to the public, it's not a good look. So, thank you. Is there any more public input? If not, we'll move on. Consent agenda. Motion

to approve the consent agenda. I make a motion to move agenda number 11 up to agenda number one and then approve that. I second. We have a motion from Katie Marcus, have a second from Jessica. Is there any discussion? Any discussion? All those in favor say aye. Aye. All those opposed same sign, motion carries. Committee reports. First I'm not sure who's first in here. Finance. Okay. Uh, let's see. First meeting was on the 17th. Uh, got a review of the budget um and reviewed um positions outside of schedule B. Some of those are like our substitute positions. We're going to talk about that later today. Um and then we also uh did a review heading into uh collective bargaining negotiations at a later date. Those were our finance committee meetings. Okay. Building? Well, that's the

next one. Personnel. Uh, yeah. It's uh building. We met on the 1st and we went over uh a list of maintenance projects and started to prioritize them and also reviewed the building budget and projects over the next 2 years, like what our budget estimate money in, money out we have and started to build a priority list. And nothing back from the Kin Street, obviously. Not yet. Okay, personnel. I feel like we talked a lot in our meeting. You see the notes there. Um we just reviewed job descriptions. Several people put eyes on the different job descriptions that we approved of. Um we looked at the current job openings that we had at the time. Um we looked at the years of service awards. Heather's just going to take that and go with it. And then

the rest is in the notes. Any questions on our meeting? Do you have anything to add? Katie? No, I think you pretty much covered it. All of those meeting notes that you put up there now on the website, correct? Well, they are when the packet goes up. When we approve it though, if anybody wants to see the details that you've taken, once it's approved and posted, you then posted it as part of the packet on the website. Um I put it up because those minutes don't get like officially approved. I put it up when I include them in the board packet. I post the packet up on the website. But they're out there just so the public has them. Yes. Thank you. Okay. Administrative reports. Administrative is first. On the packet anyway, so I don't

have to scroll. I'm going to have to Well, we have some on paper and some in the packet. Oh, fair enough. All right, so we had some some hits and heat issues at the elementary. Um we couldn't find out that the pipes were air locked. Some of you are already aware of this, but there's a holding tank of water, and when that gets too low, the system sucks air, which causes an air lock in the pipes. So, we have to make sure that's filled up. Uh and then we bled the lines with air and got things up running again. Um I have an interview scheduled for the head maintenance position on the 16th. So, that is happening. And then I have lots of happenings at the elementary. Uh first off, uh the Montana Farm Bureau

Federation held their annual egg in Montana coloring contest. We had three winners. Uh so, congratulations to Will Brown, fourth grade winner of Phillips County. Uh Cody French, third grade Phillips County and state winner. And Zoe Williams, fifth grade Phillips County and state winner. She also won the Farm Bureau Proud Award winner. Um We are also celebrating the third quarter bug bring up grades and we they thank us for the maple bars and juice. Uh some upcoming dates that you need to be aware of April 13th science fair that's next week already. 14th is midterms. The 24th is teacher work day and then the dial testing. The 29th is kindergarten visit day. May 5th second grade goes on field trip. Uh May 8th teacher work day and family safety night. May 14th is first grade train

trip. The 14th also is the senior walk and then the there's also a second grade dinosaur open house that day. On the 18th of May we have a fifth grade bowling trip and the fourth grade I believe it's a fish hatchery. I think They're going to the They're going to the hatchery. Uh the 19th is track and field day in the afternoon and then the 20th is their AR assembly um K3 goes at 8:15 and 3:45 and then room moms maybe you can explain that what that is. AR assembly and the bug assembly. What the room moms is is we just invite the room moms into the assembly. Usually pie by some like flowers or something and we just recognize the room moms and the pie ladies for all their hard work and dedication to

helping do everything. So It's just a little recognition thing for us. So any of you guys a room moms that day please be there so that way that way I trust giving your flowers to you or your whatever the pie decides to do instead of I've seen lots of flowers get stuffed in lockers and then when they're cleaning out the school. In my building the last day of school there's wilted dead flowers cup into the garbage. So So that's all that happening is at the elementary. The last item I have on my list is uh we did reach out to the farmers and ranchers to help us locate the turn uh water valves. Mr. Blatt was able to meet with them. Um so, the football field has water now and so does Murray Field game

field. So, when it comes time to water that, that'll be ready to go. Is there anything else you had to add to that part, Mr. Blatt? Well, they're not technically ready to be watered, but the bathrooms have water. Like the stuff for watering isn't up and running yet, but yeah. Can't tell it. All right. That's all I have for you. Mr. Blatt? Good evening. Um you have my report. Uh you can see some of the upcoming events. It's really just that time of year where everything is going by very quickly. Um there's really not a day on the calendar that doesn't have something going on that is going on through the rest of the school year. So, it's a busy time. Um you can see the results of the Academic Olympics as well as State

FFA. Um congratulations to AJ Marcus in receiving her state degree this year. Uh I was fortunate enough myself to go down and be there for a day, not necessarily in the arena with the kids, but doing a training for admin for FFA. And then being able to go over and see some of the kids competing while I was happening. Um as I told some of the kids and told Miss Mix, I wasn't really sure what I envisioned State FFA looking like, but that wasn't necessarily it. Uh in a good way. I mean, it was there was a lot of people and there's a lot of things going on. Um and it was really quite fun to watch them. I was able to watch some of the students in the agronomy competition as well as some

of the students in the um vet science competition and they all had their game faces on. There's no doubt about it. I mean, it was pretty serious, so it was a lot of fun to watch. Um and it's exciting to see the students and the success they have. So, congratulations to them and congratulations to Miss Mix as well. And then really coming up here, one of the big things that's taking place, I mean, just kind of on our plate right now is student scheduling. That's always something this time of year. We have that scheduled for May 14th for the high school. Um, we have a couple new core well, several new courses that we're looking at adding this year um, to keep things freshened up and to provide new opportunities for our students. We're excited

to offer two dual credit classes next year in the FCS category that Misses that Miss Smith will be able to teach. Um, we're adding an entrepreneurship class. Um, that's going to be that's still a work in progress at this point. We're pretty excited about how it's shaping up. And then we're also changing some things in the art areas um, as well to allow for some more pathways. And then that's all in addition to the full lineup of core classes like we normally have. And of course, all this will become much more simple and less stressful once we have all the positions filled for teachers. So, there you go. Questions? All right. Thank you. Thank you. So, you guys have a mind to Oh, I'm sorry. Remember? That's a handout. Yeah, that was in the handout

I was yesterday last night. So, we have some upcoming stuff for April of the fourth quarter midterm, the 14th, and then April 15th is middle school academic Olympics. And then we had our SAT for third quarter and it was the seventh graders who won. So, they wanted to watch a movie, so they picked Remember the Titans. Definitely a boy-heavy class, but it was good. And then for the core three award for this month, it was um, Charlotte McCreary, which is awesome because she's one of my one-on-one paras, so it was cool to see another student nominate her. And then our first student of the month was Kivin Simzer, and I was going to give it to him but he has one on so. Any questions? About anything? Thank you. >> Thank you. Thank you. Oh,

yes, I do have a question. Do they have a middle school concert, spring concert? May 7th. Okay. Sorry. No, you're good. It is. It is. I asked today. They have three concerts in a row that week. Yeah. Yeah, so they went and got their own. Daily transportation report of this week. Um, route bus one, we had to replace the windshield and it had a a very large bird strike. Um, so we had to replace the windshield in it. It was not easy to find a windshield because it's all new, so I happened to be in Great Falls and was able to pick one up very last minute and saw them in it, so um, and the only other thing we serviced our new Expedition because it has 5,000 miles on it, and we also put

the cell phone booster, which unfortunately does not help her cell phone signal, so that's still an issue, but she has a good been getting along better with the students, so the issues that we've had and have gotten better over time, but um, other than that, um, we do going to have to get some windshields put into our activity buses is just a a scheduling thing with the wait just cuz they are so large it takes about four people to put one of those windshields in, so they're We have them on hand, they're on a pallet in the bus barn, we've had them for a couple of years, so it's about it's just installation costs and time of doing it, so but they're not full. Lots of trips coming up, so that's it. Any questions? No.

Okay. Thanks Katie. Thank you, Katie. Yeah. Um you guys have one of these by your part in front of you. Did you get one? Got you. She's making sure >> where my copy is. Do you want it? I was like I I thought it was Katie's this whole time. So, nothing really that of any um big importance. Just uh supporting a lot of negotiations and um the job postings that we've been doing internally and externally. I did attend the MASBO region um two meeting. And um had some interesting presentations, one from Mr. Crowder, which was uh about negotiations, and he did present an alternative matrix, which was intriguing. And then did uh OPI was there to look at to walk us through their budget worksheet again, which is always good to have that refresher because

it's a complex worksheet, and um but it's very helpful to start planning ahead for the next year. Cash balances, um the general fund is low, as you can see, but next month is May, which is when we'll get the second half of our uh levies, and so that you'll see that um pop back up again next month in addition to our regular state um allocations that we get every month. Really nothing else to call out on the um cash balances except for that is food continues to carry a a negative balance. We have implemented the letter policy that we worked through and um it seems like you know some people are paying more frequently but we're still in the hole on food so if that can if that trend continues then the general fund has

to make a So we're seeing >> make them pay more consistently but has anybody like really paid like a good back bill yet or not? Not to my knowledge. I have not seen it. Yeah, so. But I also have not gotten any letters in that have come to me yet you know so I think it'll be this month and then if there's anything it'll come to me next month. So >> Okay. Yeah, okay. Um but I just I do want to point out to you that if that trend continues those funds have to be made up by the general fund. So because food is a non-budget fund but we can't have that fund negative at the end of the Our investment balances are at $93,541.75. Um those are all different funds and many of them

actually almost all of them are restricted funds. And then budget versus actual we're on track for 9 months in and so we should have been at 75% of budget. On the expense side we're pretty much on track for the general fund we're at 73%. Um everything else is is running uh lower than the target of 75%. So we're in good shape. Anybody have any questions? Thank you. Yeah, thanks. >> Thanks, Evan. And then you had Mr. Narby's Yep. On that, do we have the athletic club banquet dates set? Does anyone know? Uh yeah. I think it was on It's on there. Uh it's on I have it. Just give me a second. I don't think it was on his. I looked on his. Anyways. I don't I didn't see it on his. Um 14th of

May. That's fine. Thank you. Agenda items. Right. So, we're doing number 11 first. Yes, the FCCLA would like to go to Washington, D.C. for the national Yep, go ahead. after the kids students points. So, go ahead. Hi. How are you guys? Good. Good. Uh thank you for having us tonight. Uh we recently traveled to Bozeman on March 19th and 20th, and I took 18 students to the state conference. And I had 11 of those students that of the 12 that competed qualified for the national conference in Washington, D.C. We also have Avery Matthews is now representing Montana as the vice president of community outreach. I think during this last you guys have permission for out-of-state travel? Yes. Yes. So, we're requesting permission for out-of-state travel to Washington, D.C. We would leave the 3rd in the

evening of July and come back the 11th of July. And I do have this also for this also. And we will be taking uh 13 students. Uh the 11 that qualified, one that wishes to compete in a skill demonstration event, and um Avery is the state officer that would go. Myself, Jolene Messerly is a chaperone, and Mr. Weflen has also agreed to come along as a chaperone for that also. >> Just to be clear, the agenda item is just approving the out-of-state travel, but your letter is requesting >> yeah, and I also I didn't know if we had to approve that first before I moved on to the rest of the letter for the rest of the Does that have to be on that separate agenda item then, or can we I feel like that

agenda item is broad enough Okay. that we could probably go ahead and discuss discuss Um I do have here the estimate of our cost. The registration, the airfare, the metro pass, and the hotel are basically locked in. The meals are based on the DC per diem. So, the estimated cost per student is $2,074. The total cost for us plus the advisor, not including chaperones, would be $29,036. Tri-County Communications has pledged $250 per student. Um we're actively fundraising. We're Um right now we're selling burritos for pre-sale. They'll make those after we sell them. They'll be frozen burritos. We're doing a car wash at the car show, traveling tacos the same weekend, Sunday brunch at the GM. So, we will are hoping for some additional funding of $500 per qualifying student, the state officer, and funding for

myself, my trip, as well. What did we approve funding for last time last Last year was half of each student. It was like $4,095, I think. How much? >> was the amount? For the same thing? Yeah, but you only took like three >> I just three of the four. So, you guys had said you would do half. I think what the amount was like 2400, 2500 last year. So, you had pledged for half plus my expense. >> Right. And then only three of the four students wanted to go. And did that come out of the activity director fund last year? Well, it was an additional It was an additional expense in the activity director's funding. So, this would also be considered an additional expense. But out of district out of district money. >> Yeah. Yeah,

not out of So, out of general fund. Out of general fund, yeah. So, what I'll do is I'll go ahead and build it in whatever you guys decide to give, I'll build that on top of his regular Yeah. budget. That makes sense. Yeah. Um it's not ringing a bell, but have we approved any other clubs? Have coming to us for Have we gave any other clubs any funding? No, if I remember right, the argument last year when FCCLA came to us was it was because like for FFA for state, they can decide even if they qualify and like advance to nationals, they can still decide when they want to go or not. And FCCLA, to my understanding, correct me if I'm wrong, you know, they qualify to go. So, I will say that there open

that there is a pending request um from FFA, too. They're just pulling together some numbers and information. So, I would anticipate that that would be on this month's agenda for them to uh attend nationals. Mhm. Is there's a qual- Is FFA is a qualifier or is that a >> And it's not a qualifier. That was That was what we talked about last year. This like, this is you compete at state to qualify for nationals. So, like this is a competition more of so than just a I want to go. Mhm. Yeah, cuz if I remember right, there was just to your point in this discussion cuz we had a group that wanted to go last fall from FFA and that was the distinguishing difference in what we did. And I did not include the student

that did not qualify in this uh request. And I think some of what we talked about, correct me if I'm wrong, last year you guys were fairly new where your argument was you hadn't been up and able to fund raise as much. Um was also why you were requesting more funds. How did the fund raising go? Did you guys We did concessions. We did concessions. We did We were at the meeting for concessions and we I signed up for as you know, as many as well sharing with other groups obviously. We did the horseshoe fundraiser. They did the concessions. They did Krispy Kreme. They do the Valentine cookies. And I think there's a couple others that I can't remember at this time, but we have done fund raising throughout the year. Since a lot of

our kids are also in athletics and stuff and kind of getting concessions even to work is really difficult. We haven't got our concession money and I don't think we get that paid out till the end of the year. So, we don't really know what that is yet. Um They are doing fund raising. It's hard too cuz you don't know how many will qualify. So, having all of the club funding going to one or two students that make it to nationals I also don't think it's fair. I think that if a student makes it, you know, like I don't want to take all of the club funding just because we have two kids going. Like I think the club raises those funds and those should go to state conferences as well. We do have a majority

of the club that qualified. So, they are we could use some of the club funds, but I don't know how much that will be since state conference this year was probably cost us around $4,000 to go to the state conference as well with hotel and registration. It's a huge success to have 11 qualifying students go to nationals. It is. Very much so. For some perspective, it's about 28% of their total cost. request of $8,000. I'm going to make a motion to approve the out-of-state travel request and the expenses of $8,074 as requested. I second. Motion from Angel and a second from Jessica. Is there any discussion? Any discussion? All those in favor say "Aye". Aye. All those opposed same sign. Motion carries. Thank you. Congratulations. Congratulations to you, Katie. Great job. Thank you. Thank you,

students. The new advisor. The advisor. I don't know if you guys I brought some of the ladies here if they wanted to talk about their projects or anything they're doing at Nationals if you have time. I don't know how long your Yeah. Yeah. We always have time. Okay. Bailey, would you want to go first? Yeah. You guys have done this before. Go ahead. Okay. Um I did my career investigation project. So, after graduation I plan to go into radiation therapy. So, I researched the job salary, outlook, education, and job requirements. Um I did a one-on-one interview with a radiation therapist from the oncology center in Kalispell. Um and I compiled all of that into I think it's like 30-some pages. Um a big long investigation. And then I presented it and I took top gold

at state. So, first place. Um I think I scored like a 96 out of 100. So, yeah. Not a super flashy project, but it was a lot of fun. Good job. Good luck at Nationals. Thank you. Hi, I'm Avery Matthews. As previously said, I was installed as Montana FCCLA's Vice President of Community Outreach. And I, as along with nine other members, will be representing Montana FCCLA at the national level and that goes that carries on to many different events like this summer in June I will be traveling to Emigrant with my state officer team to work on networking and team building. And my role as the vice president of community outreach like focuses on the community service aspect. So like I'll help keep track of everything like community service wise that the whole state does

collectively. And I will just help out with a lot of programming and networking to everyone's different communities. Cool. Great. Congratulations. Yeah, very good. Happy to be here. Good evening. I'm Ali Retan and I competed in the entrepreneurship event and I created a complete business plan for Big Sky Culture Your Spirits, which would sell pastries, donuts, cakes, etc. For my plan I figured out the startup costs and how much to charge for each item. I priced out ingredients and supplies and set prices that would cover costs and make a profit. I also mapped out how to get the word out including social media, school events, emailing local businesses, and looking at what it takes to run a successful food business including permits and kitchen standards. This project taught me how to take an idea from concept

to plan, testing recipes, managing costs, and presenting professionally. It strengthened my leadership, communication, and problem solving skills. Thank you. Thank you. Good job. Good luck. Me and Tana brought our chapter service projects together. And we went to the nursing home that Rivers Bend Assisted Living and we basically what we did is we went there and did activities with them and just asked them what they wanted to do and participated in them and well basically what we're trying to do is um help with the senior loneliness in Montana because it's a big percentage and it's very sad and so we just wanted to go and help them. Non-union heads and So, we have a list of non-union heads and administrators. Do you have a list of that? A list of that should be there. Do we

have to take her off? Oh, Bruce Holmes. Yes. Yes, Bruce Holmes is off my list. So, just when you make the motion, just remove him. Yeah, okay. There is a motion to approve them. I make a motion to approve while taking off Bruce from the head custodian position. I have a motion from Katie Brown. Do I have a second? I second. Seconded Jessica Waller. Is there any discussion? Any discussion? All those in favor, say aye. Aye. All those opposed, same sign. Motion carries. Summer hires list. So, real quick, this is for summer school and drivers ed. We did have a resignation here, Robin Mix. Um so, we're not sure about the summer, so I'm asking you to maybe table that. So, we still want to say yes to having it, but we're not yes to

having her or just take her off all together. Is it just unknown if she's going to be on the list? >> if she's doing it or So, we can still approve her and then she can still just resign, right? Okay. So, then I make a motion to approve the list as presented. Motion from Angel, second from Jessica. Is there any discussion? Any discussion? All those in favor, say I. I. All those opposed, same sign. Motion carries. Activity bus drivers and substitute list. We have two lists. Um drivers, one drive one of drivers and one of all the substitutes. For this year. I make a motion to approve the list as presented. Motion from Angel. I'll second. Second from Katie Brown. Is there any discussion? Any discussion? Actually, wait, was that the whole list? Both of

two or Yeah, both lists. Both lists. Both lists as presented. Um I have to abstain. That's what I was looking at. >> my aunt on here. That's why I had to. Sorry, I didn't scroll far enough. Take that back. So, I have a motion from Angel. I'll second it. Okay. All those in favor, say I. I. I. I. All those opposed, same sign. Motion carries with Katie Brown abstaining. Due to conflict of interest. Yeah. Uh I have a little four resolution for Phillips County conduct to run 20 2027 election. Um I'm just looking for them to approve that resolution. Yeah. Any motion to approve the resolution? I make a motion to approve the resolution for the Phillips County to run the 2027 election. Motion from Jessica. Do I have a second? Second. Second from Katie

Marcus. Is there any discussion? Any discussion? All those in favor say I. I. >> I. All those opposed same sign. Motion carries. Preschool calendar. All right. Every year we we approve a calendar and then the following board meeting we approve the preschool calendar. Um usually it's a week later, but speaking with uh Miss Shusterman, she thinks we should just start at the same time. So, I'm just looking for you to I guess approve that they will start at the same time as the regular calendar would. This was listed as >> It was listed as Yeah, just information. Yeah. So. I just need the information. So, is the preschool telling us that they are just going to adopt or just stipulating that they're going to adopt the same >> start. Yeah, we'll just start at the

same time. All right. Okay. Non-renewal list. Okay. Uh we need to approve the non- the two positions of non-renewal. I make a motion to approve the non-renewal. We have a motion from Jessica. Do I have a second? Second. Second from Katie Marcus. Is there any discussion? Any discussion? All those in favor say I. I. All those opposed same sign. Motion carries. I'm sorry, who was the second? Katie Marcus. >> Katie Marcus. Thank you. Good food service. So, the finance committee reviewed the rates for substitute food service custodians and determined that there needed to be an increase. They haven't been increased for a while. So, food service will go from 13 to 14, custodians 13 to 14, and bus drivers from 16.50 to 18. These are substitutes. Substitutes. Substitutes. Yeah. Oh, just to be clear. All

All of them are because they All of these positions, like the regular positions that not subs fall under the collective bargaining agreement, so these are the sub positions. >> Okay. I need a motion to approve. I make a motion to approve the substitute food service custodian and substitute bus driver rates increases. I have a motion from Katie Marquis and a second. Second. Second from Jessica Euler. Is there any discussion? Any discussion? All those in favor say aye. Aye. All those opposed same sign. Motion carries. STIP resolution for authorized representative, Heather. >> Uh so STIP is um our Montana Board of Investments, and they still had Jane Knudson as the authorized representative for basically to make any changes for any other authorized representative. So, I have to become the authorized representative. Yes. So, then when we

get the new superintendent, I can change and add him as an authorized representative. So, um and we have three different STIPs, so that's why all of the different papers in here. Uh so, essentially, we just need to have approval of the STIP resolution and have the resolution and the authorized representative signed by uh Kyle as the chairperson. I move to approve the Monta- the Montana Board of Investments STIP resolution and have the resolution and the authorized representative resolution signed by Kyle as the chairman. I have a motion from Angel and a second from Jessica. Is there any discussion? Any discussion? All those in favor say aye. Aye. All those opposed same sign. Motion carries. Hutterite Colony isolation status and contract renewal. So, we are doing a renewal of isolation status for the colony through OPI.

Heather is the one general that fulfills that paperwork. We are also up for a contract renewal with the Hutterite Colony and we did get a resignation from Mr. Merza. So, once again, we have lost a teacher out there. The colony has mentioned Philippine teacher on a J-1 visa that was going to apply. I have since got six applicants. Only two of which are in the state of Montana. The rest are still in the Philippines. You might remember last year the roadblocks that I received at the time when I tried to get that approved that they this I guess if the state department approves it or Homeland Security, I don't know. But, they were not approving them because of the location and they would rather have the those foreign teachers in an actual building with several

teachers so that they can collaborate and mentor the words that they were giving us. So, we have we have six that have replied within the last day. Six applicants but only these applicants. The two in Montana, are they also J-1 visa holders? Yes, but they're already So, we would have to transfer. >> Yeah. The transfer is not as painful as obviously waiting for someone >> Is there still that risk that those two that are in Montana, would they still be denied because of the isolation status or not as much? I We don't know. There are years out there. We don't know. Yeah. Um And we don't know how long their visa is for, either. So, there's a lot of unanswered questions. Did you guys want to say anything? We do have two at the Loring

Colony who was here tonight. Well, we're just interested in this Miss Ann that she's still in the Philippines and she wants to come over. And she's really interested at teaching at the college. So, that's going to work out. Hopefully me and Gary and we would also sponsor. Can you help with that? Okay. So, I don't think as of today that we've yet received her application. Just >> What's her name? >> Isabella Ann? Isabella Conception. Okay. What was her It was Anna, right? >> Anna. What was her last name? I don't know her last name. Okay. No. No. We don't have her application yet. But we do have others. So. How many are up there right now? 12? 12? No, seven. Seven. It's okay. Seven? When do we have to have a decision on this by?

Well, the position that there was no deadline. It's open until until filled. >> No, no. I meant on the the contract renewal. Oh, by So, that contract expires The current contract expires at the end of the year. So, >> June 30th? Yeah. Mhm. And um I would need to reach out to OPI about the isolation status. Um if you guys decide if you don't want to renew that contract, then of course I would just tell OPI that we're not renewing the contract. If you decide that you do want to renew the contract, um then I would get that paperwork started. If we want to table that contract conversation until we're able to interview to see, you know, what status is on some of these folks, then um I can reach out to LPI and kind

of tell them what the situation is and maybe go ahead and get the process started and That was exactly my thoughts is I I'm concerned about renewing something not knowing that we have a teacher in place. So, there's a part of me that says we table it until we can see if we can have a teacher in place, but that's just my thought. I'm open to some more discussion on that, but Have you had any luck with the information you requested from the personnel committee about the background on the financials for their and hiring? So, it's I mean, yes, I still have that high-level report that I did last year um where, you know, basically it shows that when we hire a teacher like Mr. Mersa, that the funding covers Mr. Mer- the cost of

the teacher and then, you know, you have to factor in a percentage of the superintendent's time, a percentage of my time, a percentage of the principal's time and and things like that. And so, this year uh according to that analysis, we essentially kind of broke even for lack of a better word. But, that doesn't take into any account um because we don't break out Waring Colony um expenses, right? So, curriculum, um internet, tele- a telephone, any of that kind of stuff doesn't it is just lumped in with all the rest of our costs. And um it would take more time than I have, frankly, to try and and get down to that level of detail. So, that's why I just did that high-level analysis. Now, when we have like last year where we just had

a bunch of substitutes out there over the course of the year, then you know, obviously it's a different financial situation. Um so, it really just depends on what type of teacher we end up hiring out there. It's really what it becomes as to what the financial impact is. And how many students do as opposed Can I ask you Yeah. For next this year, but last year we had eight students. Mhm. That this coming year we'll have 10. The next year 12, and 5 years from now it'll be like 15 students. So, then that's going to be substantial Yeah. And I know it depends, like you said, on the quality and the amount of years service I guess we get for a teacher out there, but remind me on that high level, where were we at

with like the the number of students versus break even? If we were to look at who we had for a teacher this year. So, we had eight students this year in Mr. Mirza, and we basically broke even. Not considering the other costs, so that just kind of gives us an idea-ish. >> Yeah, no, absolutely. I would say that that's actually a really it's a it's a high-level analysis, but it's a good analysis. Right. Yet, we're not making money necessarily, but that's not the purpose either. So, >> just so long as it's not financially straining necessarily on the rest of us. My thought is, you know, we need to try and keep it, you know, work hard as we can like we have in the past, try and keep it open as long as possible as

long as we've got applicants. I really like Angel's idea of let's just see how far we get with these six applicants, and maybe table this until next month. And then we can make a final decision from there based on the actual applicants that we can get to get to that point. Uh six. I think the priority is getting a teacher. Um I move that we table this. A motion from Angel. >> Second. Seconded by Katie Brown. Is there any discussion? Um Angel, do you want to expand on tabling it? Like we move to table it until I have a question. Or do you just want me to bring it back to the >> I would say you just keep bringing it back every month. >> Okay. I mean until until June 30th. And keep revisiting

it. Yeah, until we have to. Okay. That I mean I think this is something that needs to be revisited every month. It's It has a sense of urgency to it and finding a teacher is important. Okay. So, I table it till next month. Very good. Any more discussion? Um was there a second on that? Katie Brown. Second. Thank you. All those in favor say I. I. All those opposed same sign. Motion carried. Thanks for your help with finding a teacher, too. Yeah. We'll do our best. And thanks for coming to the meeting. 25 26 contract. >> Food service, Molly Kinkler. I don't know if I said that right. Um pending her background check. That's in the contract. I'm looking for approval. Motion to approve. So, is this different than how we've been doing it? Like

letting her actually start? So, if you guys will remember I don't know. I think it was about 3 or 4 months ago. We talked about how we can have some people, depending upon the position, start without having the background check results back. It's called a contingency clause in the contract itself. And it basically says you can start without the background check. There would be no unsupervised time with children. so you'll have a supervisor with you at all times. And if your background check comes back and it's bad, you're immediately dismissed. And it was just for these types of contingencies when we have a really high need because we have one person who had to leave, one person who's out on injury, and Rhonda was just you know, like a one-armed paper hanger. So. Motion to

approve Molly. Motion that we approve Molly pending background check. Motion from Angel. I second Second from Katie Marcus. Is there any discussion? Any discussion? All those in favor say I. I. All those opposed same sign. Motion carries. Order of orientation handbook. I do have some more input from Angel that I wasn't able to get incorporated, but that I will incorporate in this. I thought it was really There was good suggestions. I have a lot of opinions. One is They're They're generally So one of them was that to put together an org chart, which I thought was a good idea. Who reports to whom and um and so I'll go ahead and put that together and then I There was one other I was going to go look at my email It was I think it

was a lot of like kind of adding some more language about the open meeting laws. Yes. >> Um and then I can't remember that But anyway, I will incorporate those, but I would like for you guys to go ahead and um approve it pending incorporating those few small suggestions from from Angel so that I can have it prepared for the new board when they come in next month. Yeah, orientation um I mentioned the new trustee orientation, the open meeting laws, and then I think I highlighted the community community engagement and the communication channels. Yeah, that's what it was. Yeah. So, anyway, this is something I've been working on off and on all year at the request of the board, and I've sent it over to you uh for feedback to the as a group, you

know, a couple of different times. You guys have given me great feedback. I uh combined a couple of different documents. Angel had a document that she'd already started, so I kind of incorporated and combined some of the things that she had into the document that I had, and and this has been the result. So, I think it's a really good thing for us to have to give to all of our new board members, and it's really solid information in there. And thank you, Katie Brown, for giving me a new life today. I wish we all had it when we started. I feel like we kind of started it when you guys When Katie and I got on, we started that working document that Yeah, there was that that working document that they've been working on

together. You just formalized it. Thank you, Heather. Yes, thank you. I make a motion to approve the board orientation handbook pending the changes. Motion from Katie Brown. Do I have a second? Second. Second from Angel. Is there any discussion? Any discussion? All those in favor say I. I. All those opposed same sign. Motion carries. Superintendent contract. It's July 1. Uh yeah. We and my wife got together and his name is Dylan and we came to an agreement and we signed the contract and that's what we're approving. And he starts July 1? July. Okay. I make a motion to accept the superintendent contract as before us. I have a motion from Mabel Marcus and second from Katie Brown. Is there any discussion? Any discussion? All those in favor say I. I. I. All those opposed same

sign. Motion carries. Elementary school hot water heater replacement. We are needing to replace a hot water heater um at the kitchen they they are I'm not sure hot water to use in the kitchen. Um we reached out to Farmers and Ranchers um to put a new one in. Uh the tankless water heater that was installed was not adequate to cover that area. So we are um we need a bigger hot water so they can cook and disinfect so it's totally 16,792 hours. So it's a fairly new hot water heater that got put in? That wasn't a part >> Yeah, it was fairly So, it wasn't >> It's a tankless and now we're going to How old is that? Where are we putting this? In the In the boiler room? Boiler room. There's room. Yeah, yeah.

Room wherever they need to put it versus >> nice if they would remove the old one, too. >> They'll have to. Yeah. Cuz that's where the old one was. Talking about tankless versus tank. That's a big difference there. Yeah. Is there any value in the tankless since it's fairly new? I have no idea. Well, that's going to be my question, too. I don't know how I'm sure it was brand new when it was put in. It was brand new. So, I think we'll probably It'd be nice if we could pull it and try to sell it. So, um maybe I'll bring an obsolete thing to you guys. And that's So, I didn't know We usually do that in the summer anyways, like the obsolete sales. So, it can just be part of that. I didn't

didn't know if there was higher value that value if we're talking that if we are going to be contacting Chain or someone to do an auction anyways. >> Yeah, that's what we can maybe Right. Do the online auction with it. Hopefully get maybe a little more than just the walk bys and that's one. Can I ask like last time, do we need to do a second quote from anyone like to or to prevent the same thing happening again? If you want me to, then that's >> Well, I'm no, I'm just asking like They They They haven't had hot water for quite some time. Right, it just needs to be It needs to be done. Yeah. So. Who did you say the quote was? It was Farmer's actions. Who Oh, what was it? Sorry. 16,000 uh

060792. Did they They didn't put in the last one. What's that? I asked if they put in the last one. I don't know. How would she know? Okay. They usually put in bid on their bids and quotes. Do you feel like after talking with them that that's going to be top end or should we approve a couple thousand dollars more so No, I think I think that was a good one. And to your point with the removal of the old one do you think they're going to I don't feel good about that when I saw the cost of that if there was anything included with the removal of the old one. I'll I'll talk to you. Okay. I can have some of these really good cookies. Okay. So, just for that amount then. What? Just

for that amount. Yep. Yep. Yeah, I think we'd probably have them quote the removal separately. And then that would be within the approval. Right. And will we approve the quote from Farmers and Ranchers for that hot water heater tank at the elementary school? Motion for Angel. I second. I second. Second from Jessica. Is there any discussion? All those in favor say I. I. I. All those opposed, same sign. Motion carries. Next meeting May 13th, 7:00 p.m. I'll make a motion to adjourn the meeting. Motion from Katie Brown to adjourn. Do I have a second? Second. Second from Jessica. All those Any discussion? All those in favor, say I. I. I. All those opposed, same sign. Motion carries. We are adjourned.
