By remaining in the meeting, these those present consent to being recorded and displayed in the footage that we will be posted on the Malta uh on the school district's website. Okay. Commission visor public input. All comments must be kept to non-aggenda items be related to jackets under the jurisdiction of the Malta public schools. >> All visitors sign in. So Rick can thank you. Uh any public input? No. Moving forward consent agenda agenda. >> I make a motion to approve the consent agenda. >> Have a motion from Jessica. >> Second from Katie >> Marcus. Yeah, I'm signing back in. I got lock kicked out. Uh, I forgot where I'm at now. >> You got a motion, a second. >> Got a motion and motion for Jessica and a second from

003Katie. Is there any discussion? Any discussion? All those in favor say I. >> I. >> All those opposed, same sign. Motion carries. Agenda and strategic plan. All right. Uh not tons of uh stuff happened obviously over the break, but um I did set a meeting today with me and administrators to um kind of have a sit down talk about various um of the goals. Uh goal one, objective one, which is the phil facilities of the elementary that should be moving here shortly in the next week or two. I did get a call from Bob Moore yesterday actually uh and he is gathering all his team next week to set a time. So those are all your engineers, architects, all the you know people that know how to do that. So that's going to be picking

004up >> to finally come look you mean? >> Yeah. Yeah. So that's when they will bring everybody to the site and look at everything. >> Cool. >> So that's the deep dive. >> Awesome. >> Thank you. Yeah. Thank you. >> Discussion items. The stand standing committee reports. Transportation committee. >> You want to? >> Sure. You have the minutes right in front of you. >> I don't care. You can do that. >> Well, I made for everybody. Huh? >> Yeah. Right. >> Yeah. We just had it last night and um we discussed the >> You had one in December, too, didn't you? >> Yeah. There's one in December, the packet and then last night's >> um we purchased our expedition for the for the route bus. >> Um Heather brought that home and it will go

005out on the route as soon as it's inspected. Correct. >> Yeah. >> Okay. That was our December meeting. Um, and then the one we had last night, um, we talked about, um, getting the wording fixed for our CDL incentive. Um, we talked more about, um, a Philip County transit agreement. Um, working with them and we agreed to, um, sell the 2012 Traverse, but we are going to keep the 2014 Ford Explorer. That is the driver's ed car now. So now we will have a one school car and one driver's ed car. Um which the driver's ed car can double school car. >> We decided to not purchase a new >> and we we decided not to purchase a new driver's ed car as of now. Um it still had low miles and was so we'll

006just revisit again in a year. Um, we are leaving it up to admin on to decide the method of sale. We're kind of waiting for the tool kat to come back and maybe maybe sell them together. Um, yeah, that was the most important things that we covered. Um, putting cell boosters in our expeditions that go on the far routes because um, we some of times they don't have service. So, in case of emergencies, but that was the gist of it. >> Can you guys expand on why the district cannot enter into formal agreement with Philips County Transit? >> You know, I think we're kind of figuring out that we can. We We still need to put some more into Yeah. >> So, that's not a final statement yet. >> No. Okay. It just has to

007be the logistics and the wording that we have to >> it has to be documented properly and in and a specific agreement documented properly. Sure. There just needs to be more research done in questions. >> Anybody else meet? >> No. No. Okay. Uh, administrative reports. >> I've got the middle school first. >> Yep. >> No, you're fine. >> You guys have any questions or anything? >> I think it's up to date this time, Jessica. >> Okay. >> I think Don't quote me. Triple check. It's embarrassing. >> Do you want to just talk about the the for award just so everybody can hear? I think that's a good achievement. >> Yeah. So, um, Mr. >> Yeah. Crystal let was the winner for December 4th core 304. Um, just in that she does good with the kids,

008that she has a positive interaction with them and makes their day better, which I think is great for our kids. And then the student of the month was Calie. and uh Mrs. Clawson nominated her which I think was a great recommend kind of goes under the radar. So I think that's great. I love seeing those posts on Facebook by >> Thank you. Mr. H. >> Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. Um, you should have my report. Any questions? >> Baseboards. I'm going to have to go show up just to look. Awesome. That's great. >> Hardland called me today. Parts are in. They'll be in tomorrow to fix the two convection units that are not working correctly in the cafeteria. Mhm. >> So now our cafeteria will be so cold. >> Um the bench honor presentation went

009very well on Friday. Lots of family and friends there. And Miss Tess did a fantastic job leading that presentation. And Brazil Children's Theater is running very well. I think they have 60. >> Wow. I could hear them singing while I was in the bathroom. Sounded good. >> Yes. >> Um, I've been checking in with him each day before and after the rehearsals. Seemed to be going well. >> Your concerts went great. >> Thank you. >> Yes. >> The only complaint my kids had was there wasn't enough songs. >> There was >> Well, um, I I loved being able to step in. I love being able to throw that hat back on again. Um, I'm still recovering from that night. >> Thank you for stepping in. It was good. It was great. >> All right. >>

010Okay. Thank you. >> Thank you. >> Nice. Go. >> Good evening. Uh, I think you have my report as well. Any questions I can answer for you on it? >> Do you want to just say it out loud? That tax credit thing. So that's fresh. >> Sure. Yeah. >> Uh just a reminder that next week, Wednesday the 21st is the uh the day that the schools can go online to claim tax credits for donations they've received for the uh tax credit for innovative education programs. Um so that'll be at 10:00 a.m. It's going to be fast typing. Uh this year the cap is $7.2 2 million, but I've really noticed that there's a lot more being talked about it on like statewide media. >> Um, it's on like every morning when I'm on watching the

011news before I come to school, it's on and things like that. So, >> I suppose that's to be expected, but it's I'd rather they weren't doing that, but that's okay. Um, >> more or less than before. That's more >> it grows every year. >> As long as 80% of it gets claimed, then it grows by 20%. and 100% of it gets claimed. Um, so it grew. Last year it took a little a little over an hour, hour and a half to claim the 6 million. I'd say this year it's going to be probably about a half hour or less before it claims to 7.2. Um, so we'll have we'll try to have as many staff members certified to enter donations as we have donations to enter. Um, is the goal, but we'll see. Hopefully we

012have 20 donations that we can have it one for one and we'll have to double up. But anyway, so it's not too late to still donate for that. If someone wanted to or if you know someone who wants to or has questions, please direct them our way so we can answer questions on that. >> You'd prefer there be to you before the 21st. Obviously, >> it has to be in order for us to claim it. I mean, people can donate after that, but there will be tax credits left to claim. >> Um, so if they want to have a chance to get the tax credit for it, then yeah, we have to have it. Um really I mean 10 o'clock is when it opens so it' be nice if we had it the day before

013would be awesome but certainly by 9 so we're not scrambling at the last minute try to get something figured out cuz literally mean it's when 10:00 hits the website unlocks and it's off to the races. So yep any other questions? This is kind of off subject, but the lights in the during the program in the auditorium, I was just curious, do we know what was kind of causing that issues flickering? >> Yeah, it's something when they when they were changed over from the original lighting to the LED lighting. Um, it happens when the setting when you dim it to just the right of level >> and then it doesn't know it doesn't like that little that that it doesn't like that level of light. It wants to it flickers. >> Um, so you have to

014go either go above it or all the way off. >> Um, and we've had people look at it at different times. We've had electricians look at it. We've had Mr. McKenna look at it. And it really just kind of it's kind of a quirk of changing things over into the LED when it wasn't really built for LEDs. And so I think there's some stuff with boards and things along the way. So you kind of have to just finesse it to be >> just right >> just above. >> Right. Yep. >> I was just curious with a lot of people in there. It was quite bright and we noticed it was flickering. So I didn't know if it was uh something we can fix or not, but that's helpful. Thank you. >> Yeah. >> Any other

015questions? >> How Sorry. Go ahead. I was just going to ask, can you tell us more about the conference and what you'll be doing there? >> Well, that's a great question. I'm not entirely sure. Um, I know the plan is that for a couple there's at least a couple of days when we're like receiving training on like federal education issues that are being addressed by Congress and then how to go about advocating for education issues to legislators and lawmakers. And then I know that I saw the schedule yesterday for on the 11th, which is the day we're up on Capitol Hill, and there's meetings with with each of the each of the rep, you know, congressman from Montana. Either you're with the congressman or senator themselves or you're with their people and you have like

016a 45minute meeting with them in different settings and you go through and advocate. What exactly that all is going to entail? I'll find out, I guess. But, uh, yeah, it's pretty exciting. really looking forward to doing that. >> Did you want Aaron de Breeze and I to go and get a hot dog on the street >> trip from not telling you >> in front of the soldier? I can't smile or move. >> We could probably relive. >> I I remember that. I could probably find the spot where that happened. >> There's a picture when you find it. >> You're going to get a selfie. Yeah, >> that was quite the uh there's >> there's good memories from there. >> The one soldier guy did smile, but they're like not allowed to move, but did just

017fall and roll down. >> He talked well. >> I'm certain Aaron wants to relive. >> Certainly does. You know, if I didn't happen to be gone that same time, I bet he would. >> Um I was just curious. You had quite a few. It looks like kids for college that took tool credit and their internships, etc. Is that quite a bit from last year that it grew that much or not? >> Um, no, it's pretty similar to last year. In fact, I'd say some of that might be down a little bit from last year. Um, but it's kind of right in line with where we have been. Yeah, it's pretty similar >> with offering the the inperson college level class. >> Those are that number is much higher. Um, so the 18 that are doing

018it in person, that number is much higher than we've had in the past. We have we've added more courses in that regard >> cuz there's only the two that we're offering right now for college level that are in person. >> Well, and plus AP I didn't include that in there and I should have. So there's then there's another seven who are doing AP bio as well. >> Y >> and then the rest of them are online and >> Y >> and I'll speak with you at another time so we can kind of discuss the 5.0 and the 4.0 grading scale cuz there's college level classes because you only my understanding they only get the 5.0 grading scale if they're inperson college level classes, right? It's class college level but it's online. It doesn't count. >>

019Y thank you. >> Thank you. Thanks. Okay. >> Good evening. Last meeting I let you guys know that they were working on an FHS camera I believe that day. Um it was successfully installed calibrated. Now it has uh scoring in the bottom of the screen. So, if anybody's looked at any of the subpar boys basketball games, um you might have noticed that. I think it looks pretty good. So, it's nice to have that over at the old gym. Old gym fobs are working. >> Hallelujah. >> Um it's been a long 6 months. >> You don't have to like rehab them. They just work. >> Yep. They just work. Yeah. So, your original fobs will will get you into the whole gym. So Mhm. >> Yep. And then basketball record, boys are number three in the

020state. Girls are number six in the state. Boys are 9 to1. Girls are 7 and three. Boys are 4-0 in conference play. And the girls are 3-1 in conference play. Basketball numbers, we're up to 23 high school girls playing basketball. Number dropped down to 19 after one girl quit. Um that allowed coaches to open up. uh tryyouts where they invited some girls out. There was four girls that were at that tryyout. Um all four were brought up, three were brought up through the old process, bringing the total number to 23. High school boys basketball number still made at 15. high school wrestling. Our boys wrestling team is ranked number three overall and individually we have Lane Spencer number one, Strawson's at number one, Keen Le number two, Trooper Styles at number three, Becca Squires at

021number five. So, it's cool to see the success of both of those programs, basketball and wrestling. Sometimes that can be hard to do with our enrollment size competing sport. So, it's good to see that um we're able to do that to be so successful in both those winter sports. Upcoming athletic events, there's a change on time for the Glasco senior night. It's bumped forward to originally was at 3. Um that was just based off of amount of time needed to allow for the wrestling pool to take place. Um that the wrestling pool is going to be at 6:30 event 6th. That's going to be senior night for wrestling, for basketball, for cheer. Um, it's going to be a long night, but I think it has the potential to be a really cool experience. Um, it

022gets our wrestlers in front of a very large crowd, so something to look forward to there. Um, the other real change is Fairfield Mixer was bumped at 5:00 p.m., which is tomorrow, so that lead time 11 a.m. Any questions? Thank you. >> Thank you. >> Go ahead. >> I emailed Joe the report. Um biggest thing we have a lot of service and maintenance over the break that you can see with the tires on the one expedition. um fixed the seat belt on the 2019 Traverse that was broken and finally got it and easy tour, but it did come back in. So, um biggest thing I wanted to note is that you can see there's two assortment one and assortment two for the rural routes. Um it's not finalized yet, but that's I put it on

023there because that's what they'll be called for at the time being as that's why we had purchased a new expedition to do that. um secondary E-Class. Um waiting for a bloodborne pathogen kit and the magnetic signage before we can get it inspected. Um the signage is done. I'm hoping that it shipped out yesterday. Um I think it's done at least on the bus. So um they're really fast. I basically called them and they said, "Yep, we have the proofs. to prove it and away we go. Um I was expecting maybe a two week leak time and I got about a 3-day leak time. So I was pretty happy. So um I have been in contact with the highway patrol who will have to inspect it. Um he said basically give him a call. He'll just

024show up on a Friday through Tuesday is his schedule now. So any of those days as long as works great for me because that's kind of fits in my schedule as well. Um, we also have to inspect the Magnus bus because when we did inspections, it did not want to cooperate. Um, that's something. Of course, those buses, they're spares. They sit there a lot. Um, I did purchase um triple chargers for all of them. So, instead of having to buy $400 some dollars worth of batteries every time you want to go restart them, thinking that those triple chargers hope to save us a little money, which was they're fairly cheap. So, I'm hoping they work well. Um, the only other thing on the bottom of my note, I know I'm beating a dead horse to

025death. But, um, looking forward to 2026 of fall, we need to get real creative on trying to get our route drivers and activity drivers. I mean, I I know we're beating the dead horse. take it to finance if committee if they possibly could maybe look at pay do something creative in that aspect but I don't I don't know what the answer is but it's going to get fairly dire coming next year and I hate to be the the bearer of bad news that we already know but it's we just can't kick this can any further down the road because it's going to come and hit us we can't have we maybe we could have a fleet of these classes but we still have to find people to drive Any questions? >> Are we are we

026particularly losing drivers by fall? I mean any we already have retirement of a router >> and that is that the only one that we know so far? >> I know right now so far >> and that will potentially have to do be some shifting because that is our largest rep. >> Yeah. And I mean activities as well. I mean there potentially could be some holes and some gaps. So >> does that need to go to a transportation committee or to >> um what do you mean what >> just for drivers? It's just idea something we need to do or is that going to go straight to finance like he said what you do with that? If there ever thought that if the financially way was to I would say that finance or personnel would be

027something that would also want to look at as well more so as transportation. Um just some I'm throwing out there. So that's why I said you can't wait too long because >> well I think the transportation committee could probably come up with some thoughts but then it would be up to finance to advise the board as to whether that was something that we could afford whatever it is that y'all come up with. >> Yeah. >> So I mean because they're >> the numbers are ti tied to the CBA. So >> and that's the other thing is is that it's negotiated. So we we already got consent last year from the union that we're no longer tied to the six years thing which was good. So and um bus drivers are on a separate they have

028their own schedule. So you know we could talk about increasing that schedule. We could talk about bonus signing bonuses. I mean there's lots of different >> things brought up by activity drivers. They're not on on a matrix. They're on a set salary. No more they try for 8 years and make the same as they did 8 years ago. Last year was the first time we ever raised that. >> Um you guys as a district I know that >> that's true but the in prior years I think it was two years prior we paid the same rate for wait time as for drive time which I think before that they were paying 13 or 15 an hour for weight time. Now we pay the same then they so then they increased it to where it was

02917 for weight and drive. Now we're paying 18 weight and drive. >> Um so it it I mean I would say that it's not that there's not been any increase. They didn't >> that was done because we were basically in a driver's combo and said that it's not worth the drive that >> they weren't making anything by >> going by with by with the wait time because if you're in Glasow that's only 2 hours of drive and you're sitting there for 6 hours during the day in between and you're >> not making anything. So >> So those throw it out there. I mean, it's something that >> just don't don't push it till the end because it's going to come that >> um it'd be nice to have somebody on board, especially those the retired

030route driver position. So, any other questions? >> Thank you. >> Thanks, >> Kevin. adding to the um FHS camera. You know, it's got a a special OCR uh camera recognition that reads the school board and then takes that data and puts it into the bar down low. It's kind of a cool technology deal that they sent us from uh NFHS. Uh got a new access point installed in there, too. It's a um big ubiquity access point. Can uh handle 1500 connections at one time. It's up on the uh northeast pillar of OM. um this big white rectangle with blue outline just to provide um patrons with uh connection to the internet MTS public so they can tweet Instagram all that good stuff you know they don't have consel service something like that um yeah each

031of I have two of those deals each of them cost $1,500 but we only paid 20% of that and currently the old gym better Wi-Fi than our main gym. So, I have a second one that I want to get installed at some point, but that's going in the high school gym. The door access system, that's been a long time coming. Um, we originally got the quote for it back in October, but the uh the company will now is merging with Honeywell and they're having growing pains. And so it just took a lot of arm twisting to get the uh the box sent to the company in Helena. And they just finally came this Tuesday, redid it. Uh they actually upgraded our main uh door access panel in the middle school closet as well. Um and

032redid the software upgrades. So we'll get software upgrades for that system for the next 3 years. Um it's been outdated for the past 3 years. So it's was a long time coming. Um no reprogramming necessary. They just backed the system, uploaded it to the new one, and all the files work. So there's no reprogramming necessary. >> Did they say Evan if they're gonna it's going to get better if we have more issues that they it won't take as long next time? >> I can't guarantee that. >> Hopeful that they were getting things figured out. >> I mean the this has been the as far as I know the first major issue we've had with that door access system since it was installed. So, and and the main issue with why it cut out at the

033old gym, mind you, is because of the amount of power issues we've had here recently. >> Back in late July, it was just, you know, we had like 12 hours where the power was out, but it was also for cutting in and out and everything. And that kills a lot of stuff. Okay. >> And so, um, now also as well going into, uh, I designated the closet that's right next to the entrance there. That used to be kind of a custodian closet. Now, that's the network closet for the OG. So, it's got all the computer. It's got the NFHS computer, the network switch, the access box, and a battery backup. So, a really nice battery backup so that it can keep stuff powered on. It filters the power so if there's a dropout or minor

034dropout, it doesn't affect any of the devices connected to it. So, that should be good setup for uh at least 5 years. So, um big shout out to Spencer Electric. They did an awesome job hanging the camera um running the cabling conduit um and everything. Mr. We adjusted the NFHS camera and got up there and uh on call with the NFHS crew and everything and um also there's security cameras there as well that need to find where the boxes for that move into the closet and redo the cameras so that they're communicating and then at some point be able to remotely view it so that we know the cameras are working. Um, never have never known since I started here whether or not those cameras at the engine are actually working. So, we'll get that

035done as well. Um, Bus Barn got everything ordered for Bus Barn security cameras. It's five camera system that I've came up with. You'll see on on these these two pages on the back are diagrams of the out uh layout of the cameras. So, four outside, one internal. Um, it's kind of in a flower pattern. Each camera has a 110°ree field of view. And so, it just it's a whole 360° view of the whole entire bus barn. Um, they're 4K cameras as well. Um, we've got triangle set up over there uh with the network connection. Um the bus bar and the O gym act as if they're on the same network here at the school. So if I'm at the bus bar, I can talk to stuff here at the school. So it's makes makes it

036really nice. Um also adding up a Wi-Fi access point as there as well, just people who are there working on stuff obviously. And um if in the future you guys are wanting to get internal bus cameras that would upload to the cloud that would this would accommodate that. So >> cameras inside a bus >> inside a bus >> if that's something you wanted to do whole bunch of systems out there cost a lot of money. I'm just future proofing a little bit you know. Um yeah and the the capacity of the storage or the camera system there is going to be 32 tab which should equate to like 120 days worth of camera footage. So if something ever happens to the bus we'll have footage for it. Um, have another elementary camera issue that unfortunately

037another brown out took out one of the cameras there. A camera, a very expensive camera that was purchased in July. The power outages just happened in December here. And unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to get a warranty return on it. So, going to have to source a new camera. probably go through the the actual contractor that set it up now that I have good communication with them and um go from there. Um doing also uh looking at getting new desktops for the secretary's kind of a ton of major issues with her desktop computer and so I'm working on being quotes for not just her but for uh Donna Perah and Melissa and Shel as well just because I know that all their computers are not top quality currently or you know not very

038good. So, planning on that. Um, also in the next couple weeks, I'm going to put together a whole plan of uh devices to purchase for like new Chromebooks for staff or for students and staff as well. Um, I know that there's a bunch of devices that have stopped receiving or not so many devices that have stopped receiving updates, but a small chunk that and those are ones that should be replaced um immediately because when they stop receiving updates, websites stop to work properly. So, um, and also new staff, Windows laptops as well. And yeah, we'll have that ready by February. I was just curious how long do you think it's been since the secretary's desktops have been updated at all? >> Um 2016 2017 maybe >> it's just 10 years. >> Good to know when

039we look at purchasing you know what I mean that there's a good reason. We're not just talking a year or two. We're talking 10 years the technology world they're ancient. I'm not purchasing pre-owned off Amazon. I'm purchasing new. So, >> that's where it go. So, yeah. >> Got it. And those ones you're talking about that you're bringing to us in February, that's kind of that list of that you brought to us that you know, you're in a rotation now of >> Yeah. Well, a list of stuff I've identified that needs to be replaced right now. >> Yep. >> Yeah. >> Yep. Thank you. >> Okay. Okay. Perfect. Thank you. >> Thank you very much. >> Heather. >> Yep. Um I just I included the flyer for the um board leadership training. I would highly encourage

040>> each of you to attend if you can. Um, I think it'll be really good. It's I we we're sponsoring it with the extension office, so they're bringing in someone from the uh university extension office to lead that training and I hear it was pretty good. So, I think what they'll be definitely some things that we can learn from it. Um, if there if you're on other um organization boards, I would, you know, encourage you to speak with them about it as well. I know that this is on Facebook. Um Christina is doing all the promotion for it. So, um we're just providing the space and um and the cost of bringing the guy in. >> Do you have to register anywhere or you just show up? >> Just show up. >> Um and sorry,

041do you know how long it lasts? >> It's going to be 2 hours. 8 to 10. So, I did want to let you guys know that we've received uh another extension from Bridged, which is the State Health Insurance Trust, >> um for the union to reconsider cuz they were going to meet on the 15th, but then they were unable to meet on the 15th. So, now they're meeting on the 22nd, something like that. Um and I reached out to Bridged and they said that they would extend our our um decision date for us again. Um they actually did they were getting ready um as of this week to go and um verify the trust. So they have enough schools that are now participating in the program that the trust monies are going to be released.

042So um it's it's a go I guess is one way of saying it. Um my recommendation to the union is is that we join it but it is their decision. Let's see what else. Uh we're also um you know still looking for opportunities to you fulfill our um our desire from our strategic planning to keep reaching into the community to keep making working on make making multiple public schools like a center for learning and things. So, we're also going to be re uh sponsoring Reimagining Rural um the virtual community gathering um which in partnership with Highline Agency which wrote the grant um to get that to come to Malta. So, on the 4th of the 11th, the 18th of February, they're going to be holding those virtual and in-person meetings here um at the high

043school. And then they'll uh we're also what's called the fiscal sponsor which so they they have to write um the foundation they got the money fund from has to write a check to another nonprofit which is us and then um we'll pay out for the ads and things like that. So but it's just an in and out it's and it'll be in our 215 fund. So, okay. Any questions about any of the notes that I had on my report? So, just uh bottom line, we're um we're doing very well. We're right where we should be as far as um our uh financial position, which is good. Um cash balances are are looking good. We've received all of our first tax payments. So, general fund balance has been brought back up to 524,000. Um, so we're

044in a really good position right now to continue doing everything that it is that we want to do. Do you guys have any questions about the financials? >> That's it. >> Thank you. >> All right. for a super the super >> the super report. No, >> it's going to be super. Sure. >> All right. Um we in our administrator meeting, we had uh some guests visit us. Susie Johnson and a couple of the Philips County Sheriff's officers um came and visited with us about sex tortion. Uh cases are on the increase in Malta and across the nation. Um, we're talking about partnering with some kind of a a night where maybe parents can be informed of it and we can do some kind of a student learning so that they understand the ramifications of something

045like that. Um, we don't know a date on that. We we're still working on that. Uh, let's see. Roof repairs. I think the the insurance agent and the roofer are going to be meeting up here shortly. They did kind of do some some basic repairs. Um but they're going to come back and look at it one more time. Make sure it's all good because of that wind damage that we had. Um and then the fire pump apparently went out uh is not working. So that that is being worked on. Um and the I have controls on my report, but those are fixed apparently controls. So uh let's see. uh the at my superintendent uh groups meeting we they informed us that the teacher learning hub is now open. There's 30 courses for teachers that they

046can take. It's it's on the uh school website I believe or not our school website but the state website. Um they had to unfortunately rebuild all those courses. So you know they're just bringing it to our attention that teachers can go on to those and take those now. Um the there are two we have policies to go through tonight, but I wanted to make sure um that you're all aware that House Bill 745 is still under public comment that affects three of those policies that we're going to discuss tonight. Um they're supposed to be done with the public comment on the 16th. So hopefully by our February meeting, we'll have a better direction as to approving them or not, but we're just going to proceed with them as is. um and and see what happens.

047Um they said the accreditation every district has to do a little bit a few steps in the accreditation process. I think that opens up here in February the 3rd uh and is due at the end of February. Um then there was a a lengthy discussion on uh proficiency based learning. um some districts are considering that obviously at the elementary it's easier to achieve than it is at the high school. So those are just some of the conversations we had um there. Uh I do have uh I sent off my next year's calendar to the administrators for one l last look. Um so that will be going out here shortly to teachers and then will be up for approval in February. Um, and then I already talked about Mckin Street. They they're coming. So, there's going

048to be had to have some hard conversations, I'm guessing, with what they find. And I don't know I don't know the turnaround time on that. It's going to be quite lengthy of an a look at the building. So, I would expect it's going to take a while for them to get the results to us and the report and everything. So, >> that's all I got for you. >> Thank you. Thank you. >> Okay. Moving on. Agenda items recent retirement incentive plan consideration. >> Uh so retirement incentive plan. Um Mrs. G is here to present to you. Uh I did inform her that this is something generally we talk about in in the spring when we know more about our budget and negotiations are done. So um you can present today >> I really don't have

049a presentation. I just want I send out emails to all of you and um my proposal is I know last year the incentive was one year of insurance as a lump sum and then I'm uh I researched as I decided a few months ago that this probably is my last year and there right now in Montana there's 22 open secondary junior high math positions that are being filled by non-certified teachers in the state of Montana. So, it weighs heavy on my mind to retire. I worry about the kids. But, so that's why I thought my proposal to you guys would be if I stayed on for another year. So, you have a whole year to find somebody and then ask for 3 years of insurance money. And I and I didn't know if that's something

050you would consider or not. So, that's why I wanted to be at this meeting. I have to let the state know by the end of January. I have to turn in my stuff that I went over with um with you. And I have to get it turned in at the end of this month cuz you have to have 90 days before you retire. So, um I was just trying to see is it a possibility that you would negotiate something with me or is it just pretty much kind of a done deal? I just need to kind of know where to go. >> Right. >> So, that's what I wanted to bring to you guys. >> Tell us more about the letter that you have to submit to the state. If you if you submit it

051and change your mind, is is that a possibility? >> You know, I have not looked into that. This is my first time. So, I guess you would >> It's your first time retiring? >> Yeah. My first time retiring? >> It's my first time, too. >> Okay. So, we're in this together. Yeah. But I don't I don't really know if you can pull it back. I just know I have to make I have my finance people looking into how I should take it, you know. >> And so there's a thing called um buyout >> and like if you guys did give me money, I have to decide if I want to put that into the teacher's retirement. And then if I do, the school has to like upload or pay first into it and I do

052too. or if I want to just take it as one lump sum. And so my decision on that would probably rely on what's going to happen if I'm going to get one year of insurance money or three. So >> okay, >> what's it called? Upfront, loaded up front or whatever they call it. Yeah. So that's kind of >> my question about the timeline is because my understanding is that all most RIPs in previous years have not been decided until April or May and thus so how did how did previous teachers have to submit their letter by January if RIPs aren't decided by until well I know you have to do it and then I think like Julie just negotiated or whatever for what she was getting and so I just kind of I guess wanted

053to talk to you guys see if it was a possibility ility of me staying on another year and getting more than just one year of insurance. So, um I guess I can look into seeing if at the end of January if I submit it, if you can if you guys do negotiate something with me, then that could stay on for another year >> that you could pull it back. >> Could pull it back. But I know once I decide it's it's done for the for life, but I don't know if I don't retire maybe then they hold on to it a year. I don't really know that. We didn't look into that yet. >> Okay. And as far as cuz I haven't done the ne negotiations or any of that yet. It's done in April

054because that's when our budget is done, right? >> Well, starts when we start. >> Yeah. >> The school each district gets their preliminary budget from OPI in March. >> Yes. And that's why they're done. >> Yeah. >> That's why we don't even start negotiations with the unions until after March. >> Okay. And I understand that. I just wanted to kind of get a feel from you guys if it is even something you're going to consider. If it's something really I wanted to know up front if it's not something you're going to consider then um I just need to kind of know what direction cuz I have other things I got to do in my life too to decide. >> Okay. >> That's what I want to say. >> Yeah. >> Um does that go to

055finance? >> Yeah. To finance it has to go to finance. >> Yeah. And also the other thing about um just to remind you guys the other thing about a RIP is that it's we it's wouldn't be just for Barb. It would be that we would have to offer it >> to whoever is you know out there. Now we can limit it the number of positions, right? you can say we're only going to offer it to two positions and the first two are the ones who get it, but um it's not like it's just offered to you >> and I understand that. But how how do you decide who you offer it to? Like >> you don't you don't whoever to everyone >> but I mean how do you limit it? I guess probably >> how

056come I was like last year's the first time that you called or year before >> year before was the first time I ever heard of it. I was never offered it before. >> It's I believe last year when we did it was like you had to have at least 27 years with the district or something like that. >> So that's what I'm asking. So it's people that have 27 years. >> So there's there's things that are put into the RIP that are conditions of the RIP, right? So it's like and the board well the finance committee makes those recommendations to the board and then the board decides. >> Yeah, I get that. I was just wondering how they were contacted cuz I was never contacted except for >> Nobody's contacted. It's just posted. >> Oh,

057it's posted. >> Yeah. >> Oh, well thanks fire cuz you did contact me. >> Um, so can I ask like what has been done in previous years? I know what we did last year, but like do we have >> It varies a year every single year >> and it just depends on funding. >> Yep. >> Usually it's the decision maker. It's dependent on renting >> and it doesn't have to be offered >> a room. >> Yeah. There's been years where we don't do it. >> Yeah. >> When is the last time that we did not offer a room? >> Oh god. >> I feel like the first >> Yeah. I mean, it's more a lot. It's more often that we don't offer them, right? >> Cuz we don't want them to leave. >> Right. Right.

058I got >> I mean that's that's kind of the big thing of it right now is it's a retirement incentive and it's really hard to incentivize people to retire when we know that there are such a shortage right we don't want to leave retire really we're not offering any kind of retirement we don't want you >> and and I understand that but I want you guys to take take into consideration I've been in this district for 36 years and I've been offered jobs in other places and turn them down just to stay in Malta and I think 36 is that service deserves something. So >> please we always tell this and we said this last year is you know we ask people not to take offense or take that you know associate whatever we can

059offer for a RIP as the quality of teaching that we think that they've done. We appreciate I I appreciate everything any one of our teachers have ever done and obviously if we could offer the moon we would you know that that is no correlation >> between what we can offer. Unfortunately our hands are tied a lot in those aspects but I appreciate you coming and making sure that we understand you know your side and what we want you to do. So appreciate that and your time regardless of how it goes. Being that a teacher for that many years is commendable. >> Yes. I'm down doing this. >> So this you said it goes to finance then >> we need a motion. >> Okay. I will make a motion to send this to finance. I >>

060have a motion from Katie Brown. Do you have a second? >> Second. >> Have a second from Jessica. Is there any discussion? Any discussion? All those in favor say I. >> I. I. >> All those opposed same sign. >> Motion carries. Thank you. Thank you. >> Would you review and let us know what you learned back on that? >> Oh, if I can take it back. >> Who should I let Do you want to >> just let Stephen? I know. That would be great. >> I see what's >> Thank you. >> Moving on. Policy review. >> Come on, guys. It's a first reading. We can move through quickly, but >> All right. So, as you know, first reading, so anything that's in red is typically the changes or deletions that have been made. Um, as

061I get to those three policies that I referred to either under House Bill 745, I will let you know. Um, so when it when there's something specifically that I need to talk to you about, I'll just we'll talk about it. But basically, many of these are just they're adding information based on laws passed or they're deleting something because of the laws. So, >> and it's not necessarily something we >> No. So, I mean, yeah, it it is what it is. >> Okay. >> Uh, first one 1401, uh, records available to public. This outlines uh the process and the amount that we would um charge for finding that information for people. Uh policy 2158 parent family engagement education and the use of pronouns. If you recall, we had policies in put in place here in the

062last cycle about pronouns and and this is basically the same information that was shared on that date. >> It doesn't change though. >> Yeah. No. Uh >> I'm sorry. I have so many papers to scroll. Does anyone have that specific page? >> They should be in order. >> Okay. >> I hope they're >> Which packet? The first pack or the second packet? You need to open the policy review >> packet. >> Oh, sorry. I saw the P proposal. Sorry, I just saw the P. >> Uh, next one is 2161, special education. Uh, if you have not heard, um, students in special ed can now receive services through age 22. So, there's a few bills here that or a few policies here that were added because of that specific piece. So this is one of those

063um again 2161 P1 the procedures again that outlines the age that I just talked about second and then we're at uh uh health enhanced curriculum and related issues. Uh this one had options. There was an option one and an option two and an option three. Um option one is human uh that we'd be teaching the district would be teaching human sexuality and identity instruction. Second option is uh the district would only be teaching human sexuality uh instruction but not the identity part. And then the third option was that we're not teaching any of those. Um but I am going to suggest that we do option two because if by chance biology class um science class some form would discuss human sexuality then this that would cover us. So you have any questions on that? Mr.

064Bluff do you have anything to add to that? We talked about it briefly. Okay. So I'm choosing or not choosing recommending option two for that particular policy. Next policy is 2600 that is workbased learning and background checks. This is the one that is tied to House Bill 745. Again that's under public comment sec time right now. Um this outlines uh people that would need background checks. At the beginning of this packet, you also get certain scenarios that are related to that. So, I encourage you to read those. >> Yeah, it was very helpful. >> Yep. And so, that one is the workbased learning. Our next one is absolutely 100% new AI integration and education. This is 2700. We do not have that one. As you know, AI is rather a new thing. Not that new,

065but new here. So this is a policy outlining protections on that. Um 3110 in entrance placement and transfer. This outlines um us placing students as they enter our uh or transfer into our district. That's just added some language and needed a little bit of language in there. Then we have 3150 part-time enrollment. A whole bunch of stuff at the beginning was xed out and then they basically rewrote that and only left the bottom portion of that particular policy. So they kind of almost almost rehald overhauled that complete policy. All right. um 3600 student records that I just added about um like military and college um getting student information on 3600. The 3600 NF is the NF1 is the notification of parents um uh students rights concerning students records. So that's I think they added just

066a little portion at the end of that one. And then also you have the 3600 P1 student records maintenance of school student records. This outlines what what do we have to keep track of and such. So again those are small portion towards the end there that they added. Uh the next one 36 uh 3665 student safety. Uh this is another one under House Bill 745 that's still under um public comment. This is a new policy too um that has been added in, but they've uh deleted the older version of it, rewrote it. Uh it appears like considerably rewrote that one. All right. um policy 50 or I'm sorry 4330 liquidity use um the first one is just our actual policy I don't know that there's any changes in that one particularly um what I am

067asking is some guidance on the next two portions of that uh 4330 F1 that is the form so we'll have to put dollar amounts I believe under the rent and deposit. Um and then the next one is actual amounts for the uses of classrooms, cafeterias. Um this doesn't appear that it's been updated for many years, so it's very low. Um I kind of played with some numbers, but I don't >> Do we actually do this now? >> We I I don't know that we've charged anybody. Do you know if we charged anybody? I've been charged to use >> for the use of our facility. Sometimes the gym is 200 or it Yeah. I mean, >> we do charge people. >> I've been charged. >> Yeah. >> Okay. I didn't know. >> so you'd like to

068look at these prices? >> Yeah, the prices I think you want to look at. >> Yeah. >> And I don't know if you want to do offer those suggestions in the second reading or >> Okay. whatever. Okay. Uh, next one is 4550 registered sex offender. This was deleted a little bit of information um at the beginning there. So, that's just an updated one. 5015 bullying, harassing, intimidation. Uh, they deleted a couple terms, added some language um to this existing policy already. and 5122. This is another one under House Bill 745 uh about fingerprints and background checks. Uh and they added quite a bit of information to that one as well. All right. 5321 leave of absence. I know we've covered Help me out with this one. We covered this one already in the previous round

069of um uh policies and we had our attorney look at it and add language to it. So, we want to make sure that we don't lose that um which I believe is. So because we have um some special specified language in our 53 um 21 policy, >> but the the changes that they're wanting to make don't affect that language. >> Okay. So we want to merge. >> Yeah. >> Which policy did you say? >> 53 5321 >> page 105. So when I present to you guys the for the second reading, it will be merged. >> Okay. >> Um and then there's again 5321P leave of absence. They deleted a whole bunch of stuff there um and added a whole bunch of language at the end all in red. And then of course you have uh

0705334P vacations. They deleted those and uh rewrote this policy all red. That's very long. Uh the next one is policy 5460 uh the electronic use electronic resources and social networking. Um so our networking uh social media policy if you will. Um this comes directly suggested from our attorney. So all the red is what um has been utilized in pre other districts um that we just needed to update ours. So all the red is added um and what other other districts are using. Uh and the last one is a form for unifying complaint. This is just uh for our 1700 complaint process. This would be the form that people would fill out. Okay, in a nutshell that was everything and as Heather said when we get the second reading we will upload new of all the

071corrections. Losing my pile. >> Hand those bad boys over. >> So, we don't need to do any action that quite a bit. This is mybody just was saying that we some of what they're recommending is Oh, wait. Or this is from our attorney. This isn't from MTSBA. This is from >> Okay, that makes more sense. >> I was like, wow, we talked about that. >> All the ideas. Okay, >> any more questions? >> Okay, moving on. Approve 256 contracts. All right. So, we have Jennifer Green for substitute teacher and then we have uh James How for assistant speech um who is returning after he was talking about resigning for health issues, but he is able to um participate now and has been there um throughout the whole process. So, he hasn't really missed anything. So,

072we'll put him back in. I make a motion to hire the names on the list. Have >> a motion from Jessica. Do I have a second? >> Second. >> And a second from Angel. Is there any discussion? Any discussion? All those in foyver say I. >> I. >> All those opposed. Same sign. Motion carries. Out of state travel request. >> Mr. Yeah. FFA like to have the ability to go to an FFA event in Paul, Wyoming. >> What? >> I knew you're going to ask me that bring my calendar with me uh later on. >> Another day, another time. >> I have to run my calendar. I'm sorry. I didn't >> That's okay. That's It's not relevant. >> Yeah, I think it' be like I think it's in March, end of March or something like

073that. Somewhere in that window of time. >> I'm sorry. It's been a long time since she asked me about it. >> It's not really relevant to the vote. I just curious about >> I make a motion to approve the out of state travel for FFA. >> Have a motion from Jessica. Do I have a second >> To Pal Wyoming. >> To Wyoming. Just in case you're wrong. >> In the United States. In the United States. >> I mean, I'm pretty sure I'm right, but >> you're right. >> Well, if it's not Wyoming, then we'll have to do it. >> It'll be Wyoming. I have a motion from Jessica. Do I have a second? >> I have a second from Katie Brown. Any discussion? >> Any discussion? >> Did she tell you why they were going

074to call? >> I did. >> Next time have her come and present to us. >> Yeah. >> Or idea. I'll mention it to the president. >> It's a great idea. You should have them do that. >> Just a little. It's uh March 26th and 27th. >> Perfect. Thank you. >> For you, Angel. >> I was just curious, >> but I think it's kind of cool. So, Mrs. We're still discussing. >> We're still discussing because I think it's kind of cool. It's something kind of neat to to touch base on two different for activities. So, Mrs. Mix went to college in Pow, Wyoming, and did livestock teaching there. And so she's taking the kids down there to PAL to my understanding to go help them do some more learning with some of the college students and

075give them some one-on-one reasons for these college students that are going around the US and doing livestock judging reasons. So she's for lack of a better term like you would have a basketball camp or something taking these kids that are doing it now down there to do one-on-one reasons with these college kids so that they can improve and be more competitive and teach them other things. So, I think it's really neat that she's this gung-ho about taking these kids and teaching them new things. >> I think it's also a closet college recruiting visit. >> Yes. Also, >> it also sounds like the club should come to our April meeting and present with >> after they come back. I said 100% right. Yeah, >> I agree. >> Should that be a requirement? Should I redo mine?

076>> Only there. >> All those in favor say I. >> I. All those opposed, same sign. Motion carries. MHSA proposals. After last month's meeting, I sent you guys out the MHSA proposals. be going down to Helena on Sunday to represent our school um just for our vote on the several proposals. This year it's it's really uh the list isn't very long to have longer years and more proposals and some that are I think more important. um guess rather than there's a few that I feel certain way about but I guess what I'm asking from you guys um for one is through discretion on on the vote um after I have discussion amongst all the other ads in the state but also if you guys have any questions um that from anything that you read in

077there that you would like answered um there are a few that would affect our handbook policy um if changed. Um, just off the top of my head, I know number four, um, is number four here. Let me pull it up. Um, it's about an academic hardship. Um, so this would change our academic ineligibility in our handbook. Um, MHSA is presenting that. I know I believe everybody in here is aware of kind of how it works, but usually um if MHSA is bringing something forward, it's on recommendation of either a change in law, um lawsuits, um their lawyers, uh things that they see coming down the pipeline, they usually go through. Um I'm not sure how I feel about it that that's why I'd like to go down there and ask some more questions on that

078one. Uh it says in there that the executive director has uh the ability to um it would be an appeal to him just like an uh an athletics hardship for um something that happens in their life allowing them to be to be eligible. Um you now have kind of the authority to determine you know if a student is ineligible due to grades uh if they can become eligible. One of those things is like two week grade checks. It looks like um would be a little bit more work uh probably in mind later with the help of Mr. BL. Um so could make things a little interesting there if it does go through. And then it just says in there clear criteria will be set by MHSA and I'd like to know what clear criteria is.

079Um that could change I guess my opinion on it. Um number seven also uh spectators ejection. If you guys remember last year, we adopted that um into our activities handbook for spectators. Uh it was three contests. They're changing that to 3 weeks. I'm okay with that. I think it probably is just to simplify things for them. So, they're not having to count contests and can just set a date and then this fan can come back at this date. So, it would be a handbook policy for uh change reactivity number, but I I understand why that one would be brought forward as well. Um, and as of right now, I see why I say why not. Um, if there's any in there, if you guys haven't read through it or if you want to read through

080it before Sunday when I head down, um, you can shoot me an email if you have anything to say about it right now. I'm open to write anything down. >> Were those the only ones that you had questions on? >> Um, no. I'm sure I have questions on all of them. I mean it would be they they provide ration you know the reasons behind it but sometimes the rational sounds a little from the school sounds a little bit better than what it it would actually do and sometimes those things can kind of snowball and affect other things and a lot of a lot of hats kind of look something over can find a lot of those those gaps or loops or issues that might come up which um so yeah I guess right now um

081I would go no on most school ones until I guess I'm convinced otherwise and yes on the MHSA ones uh besides number four. I'm not I'm not too sure yet. >> And number four was the grade one you were talking about. >> Yeah. >> If I remember correctly last year we authority to make the decision all over there and then you reported to us how you voted and how they passed or didn't pass. >> Yes. >> That's what he's asking. >> That is what I'm asking for right here. So, we need a motion that says that. >> I make a motion to allow Mr. Norby to vote on the spit on these proposals. >> I have a motion from Katie Marcus to have a second. >> A second. >> I have a second from Katie

082Brown. Is there any discussion? Any discussion? All those in favor say I. >> I. >> All those opposed, same sign. Motion carries. Meal charge policy. >> All right. So we have this is two. This is the same policy just one old one new. Correct. >> Um what it is is this is the first one is our policy >> and the second one is the MTSBA model policy. >> What are the difference? >> Yeah. when like when when accounts become delinquent and the actions that the district can take to >> right >> that's what the M >> so there's a lot more in um there's a lot more in the MTSBA policy that we could adopt >> okay >> in our policy um so options about how many meals students are allowed to charge you know,

083etc., etc. So, I wanted to show you that model policy as compared to what our policy is, which is pretty bare bones. And of course, this h we haven't updated our policy since 2018. And this one is uh was revised in April. MTSBA's model policy was April of 25. So I'm fine or actually stop. I think a student should always be served a meal >> per they're required to be. >> Okay. So that this isn't >> just says like >> but meal charge there's four options. I saw that too. And some of them are they >> and some of them kind of say like >> after meals and they have no money they can't eat. >> They can't. Yeah. That's >> they can't charge anymore. the very last option. That's what I was agreeing with

084too. If there are no available funds, they will still be given breakfast or lunch. >> Now, I guess as far as like >> sending to collections, is that a question? after. >> So I mean that's kind of I guess that's kind of where we where we are there >> seems substantially >> we and we don't seem or if we did used to have a practice >> we don't have one now >> or a procedure of what at what point do we start sending letters at what point do we you know that sort of thing. It's fallen away. >> Okay. >> Cuz it's not happening now. Talk to me about like h what's the highest what's the range that we're talking about or what's the total amount of delinquent accounts or >> well first of all

085you have to define what's a delinquent account >> right and >> negative balance let's just talk negative balance >> that's not defined >> okay um >> I don't know what the total is >> okay >> is there some kind of rule in general about if you're delinquent you get a letter after 30 days of being delinquent I mean just for schools in general or is that completely up to our school? >> I mean that's what we would be adopting letterance. >> We don't have anything >> that letter comes home. >> Okay. >> I just didn't know if it was you know >> I think at the end of the year they get a bill they pay their bills. >> Yeah. You don't get your >> report card pay your bill. >> Yeah. You have to

086pay your >> not I'm sure that doesn't incentivize everyone. >> Is that true? >> Because how do we have >> the plan? I don't know if it's the plan. >> Yeah. They're supposed to pay their >> No, I think that's been in effect is like >> elementary like your >> bills have to be paid before you get >> your report card and their next year's teacher. But I guess if you don't care about it, then you just move on. >> Yeah. I mean, if you don't want the report card, you don't care who the teacher is. You need to go to the office and pick it up and pay your bill. So, >> so I guess because there isn't there's not a lot of guidance in our policy and there's not a lot of guidance

087in the MTSBA policy. Um, I was looking for you guys to be thinking about some guidance like is it that as soon as it goes into the negative they get a letter? If it goes, you know, then if it's over >> right now, if you go into the negative, you get a text message. >> Oh, I get a letter or I've seen a letter come home. >> I don't get either. >> I've never had a text. >> I do because I've gone on. You might only get a text message if you've entered your mobile number into your >> or maybe I don't know if you can turn off that thing or not, but I get a text message every time one of my kids goes in and it goes out every Monday. >> Huh. I

088wonder why I wonder that. >> If you log into Infinite Campus, you might need to check your notifications. >> That goes up every Monday at 5:00. 5:00 p.m. is when they go out. >> But that's only useful if the parent has logged into their cell phone. Is there a way for us to know how many of our parents actually use Infant Campus? >> We can look and tell you how many have how many kids >> have registered with portal accounts or without. >> But with doesn't mean that they actually look at them already. >> Correct. >> Uh yeah, I suppose I don't know if there's a way to necessarily get in how far drill down into that. >> But I'm pretty sure the elementary secretaries, if your account goes in the negative, they have a

089print out, they highlight it, they put it in the child's folder, it comes home with you on a print. Yeah, it does. >> Yeah, you're shaking your head. Yes. If this happens, >> I don't know like what the >> I know what happens as a parent. >> I don't know if you get it every 30 days or I don't know what her timeline is of why she sends them out, but yeah. So, I can tell you at the high school for me, they must not. I'm on an internet campus quite a bit and I thought my contact information was all up to date there, but maybe notifications, >> but I'll go and check and see if there's something else. It would be nice if there would be consistency because there's been times when my kids

090went a couple dollars in a negative that I had no idea until it happened to be a quarter or midterm something went home with you know the for their grades and then I could see on it that they had a negative balance and could go in and then add some money onto the infinite campus but didn't have any idea prior to that. >> Well, if it's with the if it's within the parent state on infinite campus for the notifications we can't do anything about that. >> Yeah, we we have zero control. My preference would be that if it's be the same at the elementary as it is at the high school that once it goes below zero that we send a letter a handwritten letter to whatever address we have on file to those parents

091to let them know or the guardians that their kids now have a negative balance if we could. That would be my request. >> So I think what I'll do is I'll talk with the secretaries at at both schools >> and see who's doing what. Okay. >> And then that will kind of give us some guidance for the second reading. >> Um and then I I mean we need to decide >> at what point do they get turned to collections? Yeah. >> I think that would be a good lawyer question, wouldn't it? >> No, you have to we you decide on >> they can give you guidance on it like when they do it and what standard can they >> Yeah. what's standard from other >> other schools >> schools and >> when they turned them

092into collections >> when I talked to my highline clerks it was all over the place >> there's that's what I wondered what other schools are doing around us >> um >> and not everybody uses go sends them to collections >> that's what I was going to say so that's where my thought was going here would if you could look up for me you know the average in debt you know like where where we at across the board throughout the year for the average one that it goes below zero. How what extreme are we talking about for maybe this year and maybe last year? What what kind of negative balances? I know there can always be one that goes out the window that's extreme, but I'd like to come up with some sort of uh policy

093to your point of what >> So if I take off the extremes, you want to know some sort of average. >> Yeah. Okay. >> I want to see it because then you're wanting to be likely once you're $300 in the hole. you're getting sent to collections that you're >> or I don't know that I'm on board with some collections but seeing how bad this is. I wouldn't really want to announce it but we get funds that we do other things with like the independence bank checks and stuff. I would like to do a little research and I will if those kind of instances if we could set up a launch account of some sorts that if they do go below a certain point and we know and maybe have a recommendation from an admin that

094if they are have financial hardships or something that we can then pull out of that small cafeteria fund needed to help get them back up to a decent. There's also a form that they should be filling out at the very stage. That's what I don't necessarily love that because I'm just saying I think pay their bills. There's are people on there are but there are also some people that can't. >> There are some that can't and I get that. >> I think that we can maybe look at some other options. They'll run in and send them to collections. Right. I mean, I'm not saying that if they're $1,000 in debt or something, we can send them to collections. >> Or if their kids are all graduated, >> they're not why are we sending them to

095collections at that point? >> There might be some extenduating >> or like graduation. >> Could we graduate with >> maybe make a post that says something like if you have infinite campus, here's here's highlighting some things you can do on here. Set up a text message for this. See your lunch bill. I don't know. >> Or is that like opening a can of worms cuz then people are going to be like I can never log into my infinite campus and >> you know. >> No, it won't be. >> I think the ones that aren't going to pay it are not going to pay it and they're not going to go online and sign up so they get a bill, >> right? But I didn't know about that. >> So there but there is notification settings.

096There's a check box that you can get notified if your lunch balance is below and then you can select the amount. >> That's perfect. I never knew that. So to your point, we could put a little or >> Yeah, cuz there are some people that do want to >> Could we put an announcement out that says we have an outstanding lunch balance >> bill? Could you please contact the office and pay your lunch bills? I mean, just to kind of like make people >> I do get a letter from here >> from the office here. I do get a letter nailed to me if like her >> Yeah. So I I what so what what I want to do is I I'll talk to the secretaries and then >> we'll work on aligning practices, right?

097So can I make a motion to table this for and tell more? >> Well, there's it's not an action item. This is information. Okay, there you go. We don't need to do anything now. >> Yeah. >> Um so I wanted to have this discussion right to know what to ask. >> Got it. I think it's great. Gather what you >> and then you'll just bring it back to us. Yeah. >> So, thank you for bringing it to our attention because >> crazy it is. I mean, I've heard it's crazy, but I don't know how crazy it is. >> Yep. Out of district attendance agreement. >> You have a family that moved from Dodson district to ours. They are attached. Um, looking to approve them. >> Make a motion to approve the out of district attendance

098agreements. Second >> from Angel and a second from >> whoever. Jessica said it first. >> Any discussion? All those in favor say I. >> I. All those opposed, same sign. >> Motion carries. TR5 claims. >> Um, so TR5 are individual transportation contracts. Um, so I've gotten those claims in. I'll have our uh TR6s, which are our um school bus, yellow bus request at the February meeting. Um, but this is for you guys to look over and uh approve for payment so I can go ahead and get these families paid. The we don't get reimbursed from the state until March, but I'll generate these payments in February. Do we have to do all the abstaining? >> Yeah, I cannot. Hold on. >> Yeah. Actually, >> who can? >> A lot of you can't. >> Hey, I

099can. >> You can't. Kyle can't. >> Katie can't. And Katie can't. >> Oh, so they're the three of you can't. Or if we depending on how we do this. I'll just make a motion and take Alex off. Okay. And then you guys can figure it out after that. Good idea, Jessica. >> I make a motion to approve the list. >> Well, I think you should take Crystal Anderson, Katie Marcus, and Alex off all at the same time and then vote those three individually. >> Crystal, Alex, and Katie. >> That's all of them. Those are the only three. >> Now, if you have any more relations, >> right? Like Yeah. Yeah. cuz I forget how that thing the tree was but >> so Crystal Alex and Katie Marcus are coming. >> Okay. So I make a

100motion to approve the list minus Crystal Anderson, Alex Wedri, Katie Marcus. >> Second. >> I have a motion from Jessica, second from Angel. Any discussion? Any discussion? All those in favor say I. I >> I >> All those opposed same sign. Motion carries. >> I make a motion to approve Crystal Anderson. >> I have a motion from Angel to approve Crystal Anderson. Do I have a second? >> Second from Katie Marcus. Any discussion? >> Oh, hold on. Let me go back. Who abstained on the first? >> No one because we took the three names off. >> Okay. So, let me see. So, Crystal is Angel. >> I motion. >> Mhm. Jessica second or >> I think Katie Marcus second >> Katie Marcus. >> Okay. And who abstains? We're not there yet. >> We're not there

101yet. Okay. >> You're up to speed. Any discussion? Any discussion? All those in favor say I. >> I. >> All those opposed, same sign. Motion carries. And Katie Brown abstained. >> Katie Brown abstained. I make a motion to approve payment for Katie Marcus. >> I second. >> Have a motion from Angel, a second from Katie Brown. Any discussion? Any discussion? All those in favor say I. >> I. >> All those opposed, same sign. Motion carries. Katie Marcus abstained. >> I make a motion to approve Alex payment for Alex Wedrick. >> I have a motion from Angels. >> I have a second. >> Have a second from Katie Brown. Any discussion? Any discussion? All those in favor say I. >> I. >> All those opposed, same sign. Motion carries with Jessica abstaining. >> Got it. >>

102Glad we got through that. >> Okay. >> Next board meeting February 11th. >> February 11th. >> Be gone. >> I know. Yeah. >> I make a motion to >> adjourn the meeting. >> Have a motion from Jessica. >> Second. >> Yep. >> Second from Angel. All any discussion? Any discussion? All in favor say I. >> I. All those post and sign.
