I aliance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. All right, we have all members of the board present along with our two administrators, clerk, and members of the public. Please make sure you sign in if you haven't done so already. Uh before we go into public comment, I just want to clarify our 4day week review plan so everybody knows what we are doing going forward. So, we're starting tonight with a review of the survey results that have been completed so far. In February, we'll be reviewing additional information that the board has requested. Things like academic information, financial information, uh all kinds of results will be looking at in February. Both of these sessions are

for board information only. They will not be items for action. So, there will not be votes on them and there will not be public comment on those two sessions. In February, we will let you know if we will hold a public forum where we will take comments and questions from the public and then Most likely we will be voting on the calendar for next year at our March board meeting. So that's our plan and that's what we're going to be moving forward with. Now for public comment. Public comment is reserved for items that are not on the agenda. It is not for questions or discussion. It is comments only. It is for members of the public to give input on public matters, not personal issues. To avoid violations of privacy, a member of the public

wishing to address the board will not be allowed to make comments about any student, staff member, or member of the public during his or her designated time to speak. To maintain order and allow everyone the opportunity to speak, the chair shall limit an individual's time to three minutes. Does anyone wish to speak at this time? >> Okay, I'll be quick. I got a timer today. Um, we did get our pig donation today. She is on her way to Livingston, wherever the place is at over there. We didn't get the cow because the cow broke through the corral and who knows where she's at. So, if anybody sees a cow running along the scalo, that's probably our cow. But he did commit to this fall. He said whether we find her or not, he said I

will be donating one this fall. So, we're good to go with that. And this time. That's all I have to say. use my phone. >> I was hoping this would be visual. >> I guess if you don't take your three minutes, it takes longer to get it back from the other side. That's what I did. Wait, not yet. >> Okay, go ahead. Well, hello. My name is Meredith McDonald. Um, I'm sure many of you know who I am. I've been a teacher for 19 years. 17 of those years were here at Granite High School. And first, I just want to say that I hope the questions and the concerns that are being raised today and in the future are not taken as personal attacks, but rather as a genuine concern for our school and its

students. I hope these questions are concerns we met with an open mind and a willingness to work toward addressing those concerns positively and collaboratively rather than with silence, anger, dismissiveness, or the idea that people are just bad mouthing the school because I hear that a lot. Um, providing concrete d rather than emotional claims that illustrate how well the school is doing for its students um would probably answer a lot of questions and put a lot of people's minds at ease. So I hope that that can be accomplished today in the future. I also want to just comment on some confusion regarding communication with the board as well as board versus superintendent responsibilities. After looking through the board policy that you guys have posted on this school website, there aren't any guidelines or restrictions about how

community members are supposed to communicate with the board. Um, so from what I can tell, a community member can email the board as an entire entity and that doesn't violate the open meeting law, but feel free to crack me. Um, the second thing is that your board policy 6110P also clearly states the responsibilities of the board and the responsibilities of the superintendent. The board is responsible for quote promptly referring to the superintendent all criticism, complaints and suggestions called to its attention. The superintendent is then responsible for quote responding and taking action on all criticism, complaints and suggestions as appropriate. So again, if I'm mistaken, please correct me, but it seems like this has not been happening as some board members do respond to individuals when they do send out um emails. And it sounds like

when I'm reading it should be the superintendent that's taking those on. The board is supposed to sort of push those to them. So a couple of things I would encourage you to go back take a look at those responsibilities um and make sure that you're following board policy or maybe you should update that policy so that it reflects what you guys want your actions and your outcomes to be. >> Thank you. >> Anyone else? come to this meeting tonight, but they've got things going on in the hospital and in so she had work later and she wanted she wanted to be here. So I'm reading her comment. Um dear board, I would just like to reiterate on record because of the poor communication despite following the school policy hung on us just how disappointed I

am in the treatment of the fifth grade students and their losing their teacher between deleted communication boards, thoughtless responses from chat GPT and staff going to our children and telling them that they have been in an unsafe situation this school year. It has been a blasphemy on professionalism. We still at this time have not received further notice as a collective group on what is happening in the fifth grade for the remainder of the year. I will say that the new addition to their classroom has been welcome and we have been having a good experience despite that the faculty teaching not being certified in fifth grade elementary education. I do believe that the previous lack of support this class has gotten till this point has been recognized and appreciated by her and the fifth grade is

being treated as such by the new addition. I can only hope that mentorship and support is being offered back into this room unlike before. I would also like to mention that were not well marked or advertised are being discussed this evening that I actually am a parent that enjoys a schedule of a 4 day week. I love being with my children extra day. However, the numbers seem to be proving that this method is not what is in the best interest of the children and that promises offered when our four week started like resources on Friday for parents, activities being on weekends and Fridays and better staff retention have not been fulfilled. I would expect that since our school is on the state's watch list with the designation needing targeted support that we would already have

a plan of improvement that parents could ask to see. However, if that has not been made, I would encourage this board to add in that if they do endorse to continue a 4 day week and make sure that we are not only doing minimal instruction hours like we are now and additional days for instructional time so students can master what they are learning as well as measurable goals that have consist constant checks with progress reports to the public to ensure that our children are actually learning how to read and do math. I want to continue to support this school and community since it has offered so much to me in my life and help me get where I am today. It is not the same educational institution that I went to and I just hope

that the board and administrators have goals in place to get back to a place where our school is the school that people are proud to say their children attend and are in. Thank you. That's for me. Thanks. Um quick question before I start. I have two different needs to talk about. Can I do them both or >> got to both fit in three minutes? >> Even if they're totally different topics, >> it's your your three minutes. Yep. >> Okay. All right. Well, then I'll quickly do the first one. Um I'm Sue Sweeney and I'm representing the Granite County Center
