001All right, I'll call the meeting to order. >> I pledge algiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, liberty and justice for all. Roll call. We have all members of the board president except for Joy who should be joining us as well as administration and members of the public. >> Um yeah, just make sure you sign in. Thank you. All right. Um first on the agenda is Public comment is reserved for items that are not on the agenda. It is for members of the public to give input on public matters, not personal issues. To avoid violations of privacy, a member of the public wishing to address the board will not be allowed to make comments about any student, staff member,
002or member of the public during his or her designated time to speak. To maintain order and allow everyone the opportunity to speak, the chair shall limit an individual's time to three minutes. Does anyone wish to speak at this time? >> Okay. Okay. Um Graham here and I just had a couple of questions. one is about the 4 day week and I was wondering when you were going to start talking about that at your meetings and because you know coming around here so I've been kind of watching for it but I haven't seen anything. So do you know when that's going to start and so we can come and listen and see what the plan is and >> yeah tonight I was going to talk with everybody at the end about um our next strategic planning
003meeting and the 4 day work week review. So we'll get those going again in January. Our strategic planning will be every quarter and so that will kind of start the 4 day week review. >> Okay. And then um the other question I had was um about if you guys are doing a are going if you know now or if you're all done with um evaluations on the administration and if that will come up in January. Well, I'm only asking because when I was here before, it'd be done in December and then they make a motion in January regarding whatever. >> Yep. >> So, is is that tonight or >> So, we'll do the reviews in December and then we'll um do the motion to for the contract. So, you don't have an a meeting about
004the the about the actual evaluation before you make the contract thing. >> We'll do a close session with the review with Tom in January before we do the motion. >> So, there'll be another special meeting then or you just do all that all at one meeting? >> All at one meeting. >> That's different, >> is it? Well, we used to do the reviews on our own and then we would do >> I know you guys changed them up a little bit and did them throughout the year as well. So, >> yeah, we have been having >> Okay. Well, that's it. That's all I wanted to know. So, next month will be the not that I don't love Fridays with my grandchildren, >> but um I just I just want to be there when you guys
005decide what you're doing and know what the plan is to either make it a heck of a lot better or go back. Thank you. >> Anyone else? All right. Next item on the agenda is approve the minutes. to approve the 112 minutes. >> Any comments or questions? All those in favor? Any opposed? All right. Uh, next we have correspondence, recognition, delegation, and admin reports. Any question on the elementary principal report? So you sent that >> and was that was that a comparison for the first? >> Yeah, but the um for some reason we started testing middle so popped up assessments weren't aren't functional. We're still working on it. So that second line is really not accurate >> because it's just like it'll tell like kinder beginning of the year is 16 and then the middle
006it just printed in the report. about otherwise. So like it'll say like if you look at kinder it'll say middle of year one there's only one kid that has been tested the time of the report. So I can get you after we're finished testing um middle of I can get you one that will have a comparison of it. >> Yeah. So we can see >> but They're not done. That's why we kind of started when I see like most it's completed today but all the scores won't Do you mind? >> Is that what you were looking for? I got your email about looking for test scores. Is that >> what you're looking for? >> I didn't even I didn't remember exactly when you gave that. >> Yeah. >> September. years ago they would graph you
007know not like this. So this is looking this is different to see it this way but you know comparison of first quarter second quarter. So you can see right away how they've improved. This is good except for you just don't know, you know, from the beginning how many were below proficiency and how they moved towards that. That's all I want to know. Um and uh I don't even know that. So this is Yeah, this is called in class now. So but it tells you right there the red is Oh and it tells you what percentage. >> Yeah. Just for what quarter or what weeks or whatever. What I'm saying is compare the beginning of the year with this. So that's Yeah, but we are just getting the middle. That's why they're so at 16 students.
008And then what may be saying is that right now just because we caught them like right in the middle of a testing window is there's one kinder who's been tested. So 15. >> Yeah. >> And then that graph will change. So then you'll be able to say like right at the middle of the year it'll be at 25% red. 25% yellow and then >> 50 years. >> Okay. >> Any other questions on the elementary? >> All right. How about the principal superintendent report? Any questions for Tom? >> I didn't put the attendance in today, but basically one I got a different assignment that >> do you see any trends improving? >> I think it's improving. Elementary is improving big time. If we went back and we went precoid and we went back to like 2015
009and pull that data, we'll see a big improvement. The way it's set up is there sections I think six sections and there's two boilers. So 12 sections one section is cracked to replace that one section with $6,000. We're going to go ahead and go ahead and do that because $5500,000 change. But Apollo, they were here today. He put a deal in our pack for strategic finance. He was kind of like, I want to look at it before you pay the six grand to see if it's something. He said, nope. I think to $6,000 change. So term he used was bandaid. He doesn't want us to put bandaid on much stuff that we're fixer. >> Yes. >> Who's this mysterious Ms. Who's working with Mrs. Secret? >> Miss Burch. Any other questions? >> I can throw
010some stuff too. Um, I did print packets in October is when we did our through the year, seventh, eighth grade. So, you know how we said we do it in June. We have the dead October. So, I made packets. I'm just take it over again. That was going to be uploaded and I can still upload. So, it's always packet forward, but you can look at last year's data. Just remember that the eighth graders are now freshman and seventh graders are now eighth graders when you see this data. Um, the second thing I printed, I only printed two pass. These are ed ready for just so you can do compare this. And what I did with this was I cut them up. I classified them as They got 100% ready. They mastered the whole pre-alpha. There's
011only a couple kids that did that in seventh, eighth grade. Um, so this would be this year's eighth graders, which were last year's seventh graders. Seventh graders, these were last year's sixth graders. And you can see the scores I added. Um, the first box is where they were. Second box is where they came up to. And the goal is to get them 100%. Just so we don't break. I broke everybody's names up and I colored we did the color coding pretty but you can look at this data and you can see the ed is improving and selling our sports seventh and eighth grade. So this is the data we use when we have kids we walk them up to high school. Well if they're not getting 100 on this there's no reason why you should
012walk them up. And then what we do with nth and 10th graders, we have nth graders out 10th and 11th graders we have on pathway practicing that AC test and then seniors we had on pathway to college and I I have the data so if anybody wants it afterwards I can copy but the seniors I have like three pathway to college% and the rest are like pretty dang close for Mr. It's free. It's helping us. It's a math intervention program. I think there is a way we can get it for mass testing as well. Practice for mass. It's free. You can also do English side. So with our strategic planning, how are we going to prepare these? What interventions are we going to throw in help? Here's proof of pudding. And when this you can
013see from last year um like our seventh graders last year we only had we had zero students dance in seventh grade but this year I had two advanced so we grew two already um proficient last year four last year proficient there was eight right now I have which is fun, but I think it's working. I wanted to share that kind of kudos to get ready 7 through 12. >> Thank you. >> Anything else for your report? >> Come right off. Um, the PTO and booster club. football. >> Oh, yeah. Oh, I have to warm up and then um I don't know report but they did um treats for to the library. I know from a cow >> J probably not till January. They're about three weeks out. >> Yeah, I begged. >> Cool. Um, and
014I also wanted to thank Winnie Ridge. They came to the football team to offer to do their banquet forum and we thought it was going to be kind of just a basic spaghetti feed and they went all out. It was unbelievable and such a nice dinner and um it was just amazing to see a business support the teens and the kids and families like that. So make sure as well they us turns and spread the wealth. I like all the help us >> and the police. Thank you guys for what you do. >> Squads here. >> All right. Uh, next item on the agendas are financials. of trustes of school district42 district 8397 89 83923 claims 178683 Any comments or questions? All those in favor? Any opposed? Moving on to items for action. Item eight
015members every year we have our members are we have to have a board member and then so it's the same as last year last year. So on myself >> is it is it up this year >> because they would another year >> and our numbers are so low. I don't see how we not be part of it. my seven kids. >> I think I foresee an issue coming up some elementary issue with numbers. I know we can. It's a beast to go through. There's some people who like it, some people don't. So, we have to get the majority of both communities to agree. >> Um, I don't know if it was boardled before or if it was community le when we created the titans. That was before me. So, I don't know. >> We So,
016reached out to saying we try to work together on it. >> Yeah. I mean, from a personal standpoint, seeing the relationships that my son built, you know, through that to me, it's a nobrainer, right? for the kids of Grant County. So maybe that's not There's a lot of girls. Um so maybe a strategic plan at our next working group we can talk about it and see if um there's something we want to initiate as a board or create so we have a first and a second. Any other comments or questions? All those in favor? I'll abstain since on there. Any opposed? All right. Motion passes. Item B. Resolution for trustee election resolution for trustee election. We already sent out like I don't have the exact number but people didn't get to it but it's about
0173/4 of our ballots go out as ballot anyways there's just a very small portion and we got I don't remember the specifics but we did get most of that >> what is the deadline to file for people to remember >> they have until February 9th I believe. >> And then when is the election? >> It would be May 5th. >> We have a motion for resolution. election. >> Yeah, you have to put in whether it's a mail ballot or election. >> I would prefer mail, but it's up to you guys. Any comments or questions? All right. All those in favor? Any opposed? >> Item C. approved home concession project approved this project this projected over Christmas will be the contractor Mr. Z has already started the ordering process for all materials all documentation put and
018The overall bid was like 24,37 I gave 10,000 just to give you guys a heads up. So on the outside windows window the door can shut and lock and keep all concessions locked in We have all divid 21st century once we get that side of it smart TV have tables that can go up and out so we can have space to do projects or have a nice meeting area whatever we end up with be right there in that room and then behind that There's going to be in that wall I should say there's going to be on one side order on the other side pick up. come in order pick up on the other side then all workers are behind that wall doing their job and everything on the left side fast money for insurance
019clean up kind of Christmas >> those cabinets that are in the shops big cabinets those tools on the left hand side. It's under budget. Yeah, it'll be nice to have another kind of person that can help out as well once we work with this person and have just another contact for whatever we might need. A motion for approve the home. >> Any other comments or questions? All those in favor? >> Any opposed? All right. Our next regular board meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 13th at 5:30. And then so I wanted to ask everybody um to do that next strategic plan working group meeting to review what we have looked at this year, where we're at for our second quarter. Do you guys want to do it that same week as the board meeting? Do
020we want to look at the next week after? Wanted to check everybody's kind of schedules um so we can get that on the books as well. the next 13th Tuesday, right? >> We could if we want to do that before the board meeting. If there's anything that we would want to then do at the board meeting, we could. Um We could do it the week after if that's easier for everybody coming up the holidays. >> Yeah, >> Tuesday night seem to work out better for everybody. So, if we could Does the 6th work better for anybody else? >> The 6th or the 20th? Just keeping with our Tuesday nights. >> Does that come up to anything else in the school calendar? I don't have anything Yeah. Is that >> when You guys can't spare time
021and then we can just focus on >> Yeah, it might be good to have it before the boarding. So, January 6, >> um, do I do 5:30 or 6 o' >> 5:30 the same? Okay. So, January 6 at 5:30 >> and we'll go over the strategic plan, where we're at, where we said we're going to be, and make our plans for the next quarter. Okay. Um, and then the other thing we need to do in the meantime is the superintendent evaluation. And we had talked before about coming up with a new form that we prefer better. It's totally up to us what we want to use. Obviously, something that works with the job description and um that we can fairly evaluate with. I know Connie sent me a couple. So, I could take those along
022with what we've used and send them out to everybody and you guys can provide comments or additional forms and And as long as we can settle on one by the end of this week or so or next week, then we can take the next couple weeks to fill it all in and then you guys can send and then we'll do session for you that we have to decide on. >> That is it. Meeting adjourned. Sorry, Luc. >> That's okay. It's I apologize for being a little late. I just wanted to let you guys know that um I ran the numbers the other day since the beginning of school up till December 1st. And for breakfast, we have fed over,560. >> And for lunch, we've served out over 4,778 meals. So, it's about even what it
023was last year. It's a little bit down, but and not too much. Um, for December, we did do a lunch lottery and so each grade got to pick out what they wanted for lunch. And that's went over really well. So, I'm thinking maybe in future we could do it like twice a month or something, you know, just draw out and then have that class pick. But they're learning, you know, they're learning what a meal is. They're learning what they like, what they don't like. I've been throwing some new stuff in on them. Some of them like it, some of them don't. Uh, sometimes the elementary likes it and the high school doesn't, sometimes it's reversed, but I just wanted to um kind of give you guys an update of what we're serving out. So, >>
024that's 6,33 meals. >> I think that's nice you as I don't know if you're asking them or what how you're finding out what they like or what they don't like. That's I usually ask when they come through and we've seen in the last couple of weeks, you know, where they've got to pick what they want. A lot of them are coming back. So, you know, that's good. Come back and get more. And, you know, um we have a soup bar, too, so they can pick soup. And sometimes they come in and they just want soup. They don't want anything else. But that's okay. They're still coming in and they're still getting something. So, >> it's fun. >> Uh Connor Sansson. >> Yeah. He said he said absolutely. I would love to do that. So, yeah.
025He said you could take that crazy cow. >> But that's okay. That'll save us a lot of money. >> Okay. Yes. Now we will officially drink. Thank you. You're not I don't know anything here.
