0012026 monthly business meeting to order. Would someone like to lead us in the pledge of >> allegiance? I aliance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Okay. Are there any revisions to the agenda this evening? >> Um, yes. I would like to trust the announcements. Um, let me see. Sorry. Um, how about after um the student trustee report? >> Anybody has any Yep. Uh, public comment. This item is the appropriate place to make comments about an item not on the agenda but within the board's jurisdiction. Each action item on the agenda has its own public comment period. In order to protect the individual rights of privacy, avoid comments that identify students or staff

002members. Additionally, public comment cannot be used to make comments regarding contested cases, grievances, or legal proceedings. Due to open meeting laws, the board cannot respond in any way to comments made during the public period. Is there any public comments? So, we will move on to the public correspondence. Quite a few letters. Um, and we'll move to for approval of events starting with the April 14th monthly business. >> I'm Jesse. It says two things actually. Correction. Yes. Um I'm listed as present which I was listed as absent which I wasn't. I was on Zoom so it just needs and I don't have >> Yeah. Oh, right. We didn't have >> I wanted to but >> yeah I still Yeah, I think it'll you will be absent because you weren't a active >> she should be here.

003>> She should have been both. >> It happened in the past. I don't think >> but I think you came up when you texted it was hard because you that was the Wisconsin minutes after it started >> right and so then and then during the meeting I couldn't in time the meeting had started so I couldn't >> during the meeting it can't say present ab I would say it's just absent because you >> wellain well I guess we maybe need to figure it out because if you weren't able to vote then all the votes are going to be up on August 6, not on seven. So that's not to reflect accurately. So they're going to have the numbers aren't gonna >> Well, can you say president zoom but not a voting B not >> or

004you could say abstain on each public? >> Yeah, >> she did. >> Yeah, she did say that >> not voting >> non voting non voting or >> or could you just explain the situation >> like join a meeting via Zoom >> wasn't able to communication. >> So we wanted to say let's verify what you say again. >> Sure. >> Join the meeting via Zoo wasn't able to go. >> Yeah. Yeah. I have a question about >> I have two motions carrying five to zero and one caring six >> 14 I think it's because some of us were absent for adopting the minutes or >> okay well I see why it says that I remember looking at that and I was like oh Yeah, >> so any other questions? And do we So we have the

005April 14th updated. Let's see if we're good. >> So I guess we'll start with the April 14th with the changes made. >> I move to approve with the change. Second. >> So that's moved by Darcy and seconded by Rainy. >> Sorry, I actually could see that. I forgot. >> Okay. So now we will move to the special meeting of the board of trustees on April 28th. My only question on that is when we're under discussion item B, when we talk about public comment, it just says their the people's last names. It doesn't give their first names, but typically I think our public comment lists first and last. >> I think on the other one did everyone get listed or >> Okay, I can do that. Just so I think it's clear already. >> It's fine.

006>> We have listed public comments that just lost before just saying, but I'm going to read. >> That's okay. Then you don't need to. I just sure what the protocol is if there is a standard. >> Yeah. Sometimes you know >> Mr. Smith of white school the way that's >> but I can I can certainly that's two I think that's fine I just sure >> we want >> okay well the same so is there any motion for the April 28 by second by Katie all in favor I was not >> here >> and Shannon and so did >> I was also >> and also didn't vote on that meeting you were on Zoom >> I did >> okay >> the monthly work session of the board of trustees for April Okay. So move by Darcy

007SF by Jerry. >> We have two and two. Okay. >> Was the same night later. >> So Shannon and Katie >> were not here. >> Okay. Got it. >> It was on Zoom. >> I was on Zoom, but it's all good. We will move to G which is our student trustee report with Carmela. We'll start with the high school um DEA nationals happen and so did fun time. Uh testing has been taking place all this month. Um, actually the last week of April, AP Spanish had their practice in exam and the eighth grade orientation happened as well where they got to ask questions about the high school and get a layout of the speech from some students. Um, currently we're doing AP exams as of right now, AP Bio, AP Gov, AP Lit, AP World,

008A Push, AP Precalp, and AP Cal have taken their tests. And then we still have a blank finish or the next week. Um, prom happened which was major success and a lot of students help set up and take down and the busing went very well. with a little bit of reports. And um coming up we have the senior scholar award night from 6:00 to 7 p.m. the free flow organ post trip the physics silverwood trip and sports for sports tennis track to baseball action. I'll move on to middle school. We had another successful Eastern trip last week with 147 students attend and receive many positive comments from the sites we visited. White Fish Middle School has spent their spring middle school track season with great success. Eighth graders visited the high school for their freshman

009orientation and their high school tours. Fifth graders and eighth grade or fifth through eighth grade students have all completed the spring I ready diagnostic. Fifth through eighth graders are now working on the MAS testing on the ELA. Fifth through 8th grades are also taking the MAS science test. And then some of the seventh grade students particip participated in the annual big creek camping trip as well as the entire fifth grade had the opportunity to attend annual forestry expo last week. Gearing up for the end of school. Now hold down is in full-blown end of the school year. The trips have begun. End of the year assessments are in full swing. Fourth graders are preparing for their wax museum presentations. and the kindergarten circus is coming. We are excited and sad to say so long to

010some of our staff. We have quite a few changes taking place yet are very excited for what spring. Um Jessica Canel, Nikki Smith, and Demi Sullivan will be taking their show to the middle school. Megan McHugh, Satie Walker, and Madison Kaza are leaving the district for opportunities elsewhere. and Flora Ferda, Don Ashley, Barb Castle, and John. On a positive note, we welcome our new principal, Jennifer Santo, and six new staff member staff. And we're not finished yet. The next school year is shaping up to be exciting. We'll also be welcoming a brand new Molly in mid June as Kelly Miller will be having her baby soon. Kindergarten roundup was a success and now we are gearing up for the class of 2039. >> Enrollments are in full swing. The jump start program begins June 22nd

011and runs through July 23rd. >> Anybody any questions? >> What you asking? Do you remember? >> I was the same as Ryan. Oh. Um. Uh. Yeah, the ballerina. >> Yes. >> Misty. Missy. >> Oh, that's funny. >> That's I remember. >> Awesome. >> Are there any other questions? >> I just have to say and maybe you can pass it along to your peers. Hats off to the creativity in um pivoting the grand march so that it came the back of the high school. That was creative and really well done. And then the buses and then there were all sorts of extra logistics due to all the construction and everybody adapted I thought beautifully and really came together and it was a really special night in the midst of it. All the rest. Exactly. A lot

012of moving parts and you all handled it really beautifully and it was a very special event for for everybody. So all the really good >> helm committee. Way to go. >> Yes. The other thing I wanted to mention if you'll pass it along to your peers and also um >> to the AP research advisor was that there were four AP research students and they came to the FBCC honors conference and presented their research projects. And you guys, it was phenomenal. I mean, the level of work that these students did was beyond anything I ever did in college. It was it was they did a IRB process where principal and school psychologist and advisor all approved their project. They collected data. They had original findings. They analyzed their data. Then they had the courage to share

013their data with five outside judges, community members, college students, and their work was gold level, like gold star level. David Losi won the whole thing. I mean, it was like just phenomenal and and just for the first time this program has ever run, for them to be that brave, it was just I mean, really impressive. So, great job to everyone in the school. Amazing educational opportunities and so cool. not just what that class did, but what all the classes that led to that class did. You know, it was just really cool to see all these pieces come together and all the different adults that helped all these students with their data collection. People volunteered their classes at the middle school and in the high school. It was just a really cool um a cool thing

014to see. So, high to your pass to Lucy, too. >> I read her watch. >> It was huge. It was huge undertaking. Then the other thing I want to ask you about is everybody know about Carmela's awesome Tik Tok and it's like oh it's cool your reviews where you review and I saw one where you went to a consortium and I wondered what the consortium was. >> Oh um Oh yeah Marcus and I >> Yeah have a Tik Tok account review around the valley get like little peaks into what's happening at school. It looked like you had like a offsite consortium thing. >> Yes. It was the Nate Shu mental health advocacy meeting that happened I want to say like four times a year. I think every season have one. Um I've been to everyone

015this year and they've all been really great. We have guest speakers um kind of educating students in the mental health advocacy realm about um ways to be mental health advocate and also just um kind of identify sweets that are struggling and such. So yeah, a group of usually um from student outreach committee, but it is open to everyone. Uh we go to these consortium meetings in Boston and we learn a lot. >> Thank you for doing that. I thought Miss Copen was there with you. >> Yeah, it was really positive for >> Yeah, it was awesome. >> Thank you. >> I know. >> Marcus and I go to Mackenzie River. >> Mac and cheese pizza out of 10. Wow. >> All right. >> Thank you. >> Good luck on the rest of your >> Yeah.

016You juniors really got it going down right now. It's not fun to be you guys. So, thank you for being here. >> Okay. We will move on then to our uh trustee update. Trusty, >> trustee report. So, I wanted to move this because I felt like this was really important. Um, and a lot of people leave by the time we get to trusty announcements. And so, I um Jerry and I have a few things to say. Uh, we have two board members leaving us uh this month, Shannon and Katie. And I think it's important to note that between the two of them, we are losing 24 years of combined schoolboard knowledge, which is phenomenal and incredible. And I think that we owe them a huge debt. So, um, Jerry and I have both penned something.

017Do you want to go first? You want me to go first? >> I can go first if you want. >> Okay. >> Dear Shannon, also known as Frog Boy. >> We've all been privileged to work with you on the White School Board these past several years. You've served the students at school district 44 well for 15 years with multiple different boards. Wow. That's fortitude. You have become our wordsmith extraordinaire, not to mention your expertise in negotiations, buses, legislation, policy, and parliamentary procedure. If there was ever a question about the district's history, you could usually supply the answer. What a commitment you made to this district. Shannon, your calm, steady demeanor and insightful input has always been appreciated. Your dry humor and your knowledge in so many areas will be missed. As a board, we thank

018you from the bottom of our hearts for your many years of service and your dedication to improving the education for all the students in Wetford schools. Here's to no meeting Tuesdays or any other day. Cheers. Okay. Um, so this is mine. It's a little bit longer. I apologize. I just didn't know how to get it shorter. Um, how do you say thank you to someone who has given nine years of her heart, her time, and her brilliance to the children and staff of Whitefish School? I'm not sure you can, but I'm going to try. First, let's go back to think about how long ago nine years was. Uh, it's when we had the last solar eclipse. Fidget spinners were the rage, which I'm sure some of you might still find some in the back of

019your desks that you took from children. and the Moldown bond had just passed and that's when Katie said, "I want to serve and volunteer for the school district." And she did for nine years. In her first campaign interview, she said, "I have a heart for kids and I just want to see kids have every opportunity they possibly can." Nine years later, every decision she has made has proved that was never campaign line. It puts her guiding light. She also told us something else about herself and it's so true and it just cracks me up. And if you know Katie, I think I'm a nerd. I love education. I really do. I'm passionate about that in a sort kind of way. When Katie became a trustee, she was completing her doctorate in communication. She redirected her

020entire dissertation to focus on schoolboard governance, studying high achieving districts across the nation to bring the best ideas back to white men. She attended and presented at National School Board Association conferences. She called legislators about school funding. During her tenure on the board, Katie sat on many committees, including IBB. She helped draft the district's first ever strategic plan, crafted the first superintendent evaluation tool, championed for the block schedule to coincide with FBCC schedule, fought to end mandatory showers after gym class, advocated for data sharing with the board, created the governance calendar, which to get input from stakeholders via surveys, and help pass bonds and levies, just to name a few. From her dissertation, she learned that longevity on a schoolboard creates healthy and stable districts. She lived that belief for nine years. And nowhere was

021that steadiness more apparent than during co. Let's not forget Katie was our board chair when that happened. And the sheer volume of work she did during that period cannot be counted and cannot be repaid. We owe her more than we can ever fully express. But through all the hours and hours and hours of meetings, preparation, and everything in between, Katie never once lost sight of why she showed up in the first place. She knew that if you do what's best for kids, the rest will fall into place. She campaigned fiercely for students. She supports teachers and staff. Dr. Katie Clark, you are a mentor, a public servant, and one of the best champions this district has ever had. We are all better because of you. We're better for knowing you, and our students and staff

022are ever for your time. Thank you so much. >> I can't take credit for the first strategic plan. I mean, I hope I didn't write it. >> No, for real. It's been an honor. Right, Shannon? It's been a wonderful experience. It's been fun at times, fulfilling, uh, challenging at times, but always worth it really because it's been all about kids. And I've had a real honor to get to know and work with people in this room. I've learned so much from each one of you and people on the board. Um, it's not an easy job, but it's what I felt very honored to do. So, thank you. >> Thank you both. >> Thank you, >> Elizabeth. Before we move on, I have one more announcement. >> Okay. >> Um, the career fair at 8th grade

023is coming up May 28th >> from 8:30 to 11:30. I'm signed up, but I would love to have another trustee come and sit with me at the table. And he's invited all of you to come and wander about and to see what's going on. It's Andy St is the one who's doing this show. So, I would love to have another person come and be at the table with me. It's really hopeful to have a second person. So, if anybody's available May 28th, um 8:30 to 11:30, let me know. It's a morning. So, >> please come join me. >> It's a Thursday. >> Yes, it's a Thursday. >> Thank you. >> Um I also have a couple recipe. Um, first I would also so I think in as you become an adult I think it's harder

024to learn it's fun when you learn from other people or in your settings where you learn and I think I feel like I had the most traditional education you know I did very kind of opposite probably of Shannon and I think one thing I've learned on this board is a lot from Shannon is that there we're not all on the same path and there's a lot of ways to end up and so I really appreciate your insight on that and all your other knowledge that you brought. But I really that perspective you brought I think was for me kind of a a learning experience. And then I think with Katie I I think it's a rare thing when you have someone who research and knowledge is something so directly affected to the school board and

025how you know it'd be like me serving on like a veterinary. Yeah. Like oh that'd be kind of cool to do. But um I don't think the community or probably us realize the the true like heart and soul you brought with your knowledge. You know the dorkiness or neriness. So I think that the idea of bringing enthusiasm to your career and the board is something I think that I've always been impressed by. So I really appreciate the what you brought and I definitely think we will miss both of you very much. >> Great job. I also feel though I feel like we're leaving the district in the best hands. All of your hands, right? Like I feel really good about the picture. So, >> thank you all for caring towards. >> So, with that, we're

026going to invite you to this summer retreat. >> You're welcome. in all sense. Uh we are looking at doing the board retreat um most likely with Dev Silk on last I was looking at the last week of July either and I my hope is to do a combo where we do an onboarding session for the new board members and anyone else who wants to join and then the next day doing a board retreat and still to be determined what we'd like to focus on at that time. But I was looking at that Wednesday and Tuesday and Wednesday or we could do a Wednesday Thursday. >> So would it be in replacement of the 28th >> meeting session or would we do it at the same time especially as the work? >> You can do it

027at the same time but it would replace the work session. >> Um and so I don't know if there's a day because I do want to she is very busy and she can be hard to pin down. So, I didn't know if if there was a day that worked better for >> is it a whole day or >> Well, um, no, I think it could be. I think if we did an onboarding session with new board members, I think we could do a session before or do a two session type thing. Um, and so I think however we wanted to do it. I don't know what it would cost to pay her for >> two nights. I don't know. What do you What do you >> I don't know. We have Lisa Lisa has thoughts.

028>> Uh there are a few administrators that are going to the SAM Institute. It's the Monday and Tuesday. So if you could do later in the week, that would be better for us. >> You you guys will be back >> Wednesday, I think >> or Tuesday? >> No, Wednesday. >> Will you be fried? Like would you want to do that Wednesday? Well, that does that mean I am working. >> She gets to reflect. >> That's right. >> Like going to the gym. I get to go to >> I just just I can do any of those things and I appreciate everyone who has busy summer schedules especially too who's integral and coordinating around admin. I just can't um especially with this late nurse I have to ask for time call like six minutes. So yes,

029if I need to be here earlier than 4 or 30, I cannot make that. So, >> okay. >> So, we could arguably do >> maybe we could do an evening session on Thursday the 30th and then offer I could talk to Deborah if we could get potentially our new board members to do something earlier in the day. >> I think that's I think that's better than doing it over two days. >> Is that so we can look at the four o' Okay. We could even I can actually I could probably be I can book myself. I could try and get out too. So >> sorry I can't. >> No, that's um the 30 >> 4 to 8 >> I think plan on like 48. I would Yeah, let's do 4 to 8. >> It probably

030won't be that just block it out. But I am going to try and have her do something earlier in the day >> for auntie or hands for anyone who wants to go too. I think that that's a totally >> okay. >> There'll be something at 28th or 29th. >> Um well, we could cancel the work session on the 28th. >> I think we have to cancel 28. >> Cancel the work session 28th. Okay. >> Does that sound okay, Lisa? >> Yes. 4 to 8 on the 30th. >> Yeah, that work. Yeah, for a walk of time and then we can discuss I think as we Yeah, I think we just need a booker >> and then we can discuss what we'd like to do our retreat around. >> Are there any other announcement trustee? Thank

031you. >> Thank you. We'll move on to the WVA WCDA updates. just would like to ask a quick clarifying question. Did you just cancel the June work session on the 28th or >> this is July? July. Okay, this is July. >> Okay, fits. Um, so I was not able to be at the last meeting, just a business meeting, but I appreciate um, Dr. Gman recommended that we do hold a work session before the end of June to discuss the hiring procedures for extracurriculars. Um, thank you. Um also like to acknowledge the service of our board members that are leaving us. I know that being in a position of service is challenging much like my own. You guys dedicate a lot of time and energy. So hope that things go well in the future. Thank you

032for years of service. Um, and I would just like to mention that I hope that the work session in June is productive and to keep in mind the impact on our staff in all categories of those extracurricular positions and that this is not the end of the conversation to find solutions to the some of the things that have caused a lot of destabilizing factors for our staff. and hope that we can start to work together in a way that's helpful for every stakeholder group. So other than that, I don't have much of a report tonight. You Thank you. Thank you. >> Thank you. We will move on to our discussion and action items with our discussion item A which is the WHS expansion owners representative report. >> Everybody good to see you all. >> Sorry

033we pushed you down a mile. >> No worries. No worries. >> Um this is the May update to the expansion projects. Um in the month and a half since we started, there's been a ton that's happened out there. So, I'm excited to share uh what's happened over the past month since the last update. Um so, starting off with the budget, as we always do, the top items for bond and bond premium haven't changed, so that remains consistent. Uh total spent to date is updated at 3,27,181, which is roughly 8.5% of the overall budget. Um which is also still right on track. Um we finalized our owner contingency this time as we've uh balanced the budget and reconciled some items. So between both phases our total owner contingency is 1,43 and 590 uh which is roughly

0345% of the overall budget. Um so things are looking good on owner contingency. At this point no use of owner contingency. We are anticipating a couple change orders uh that we're working through some things out there. So, um, next month that will probably be updated, but as of right now, there's no use of that. So, it's the full amount that's remaining. Um, moving down to the contract status for both phases. Uh, last month we completed the GMP for Martell. And so, um, you're seeing that reflected on both phases there for the athletic and academic. Um, we also had our first pay app for Martell as part of the construction project. Um, it was the it was very early. um as we had just started at the end of March. Um so it's relatively low for

035the amount of work that happened out there, but the total spent to date is what you're seeing under both the athletic phase and the academic phase. Um so the first payoff for the athletic side was 36,755 and the first payoff for the academic phase was 293,3965. Um, we did just get our next payoff, so that's in process currently. So, next month that will update. We'll just keep that going for the process moving forward. U Martell GMP, the contractor uh sorry, let me back up say that again. Martell's um contractor contingency as part of the GMP is a million. Um, and that also is still uh reflecting at zero. As of the time of making this, we hadn't used any of the contractor contingency. Um, so all of that is positive and remains consistent with what

036we expected. Uh, jumping ahead to current schedule milestones, um, everything is right on track. Um, we did find a little bit more asbestous than we were expecting, which, um, meant a little bit more work out there than we were expecting, but it did not impact the schedule. um just meant a little bit more demo. Um and so uh these dates are consistent with what you've seen previously. So we're still tracking all the milestones for completion dates at this point. Um jumping to key monthly updates. Uh the first one is key activities on the academic phase and um continuing on from I think the last update most of this remains consistent. Uh we continued to work on his best disabatement. Uh building demolition is almost complete out there. If you've seen it recently, you'll see some

037pictures in a minute. But um micro pile foundation activities have been ongoing. Um test piles and things getting ready for some foundation work um on the academic side. And then a lot of activity in the wrestling cardio room has been happening with some egress um installations for a corridor that's being installed and uh cutting into the exterior walls on the academic side over there. On the athletic phase, um the whole site is basically cleared at this point. All the clearing and grubbing has occurred. Um grading activities are in full force. Uh they've started foundation work uh for the bleachers as well as some of the buildings. Um and a lot of underground utility work has has been occurring over the past month. Um a lot has been going on. Um so it is it is

038very exciting out there. Uh the next item here is actually somewhat of an update but also a visual. Um, so this link that you're seeing is for what is called OpenSpace and it is a 360 degree um, progress capture tool that I use out there. Um, and just gives a perspective as you kind of do a Google Street View on the project. And if that'll open up, hopefully it'll work here for Dave. I think this will show us the athletic side some of the work occurring out there. So I think where this is standing if you you can spin around and it gives you a perspective of um I think this is at the northwest corner of the site. Um so as you can see the track is gone and um are actually kind of

039more western part of the site it looks like. Um right across from the main entrance. Um so that's looking north. If you spin around you can see that the buildings are gone. um some excavation work for utilities is occurring. Um and off in the distance uh you'll see a lot of foundation work occurring. Um and then this also allows for uh maneuvering around the plan to see what the site looks like as a whole. So uh this will track progress um throughout the life of the project. So you can jump around on historicals and just kind of a cool way to explore the the current progress. Um, so both a visual and an update to the tool that we're using out there. >> I'm not very skilled with it. >> Just open the house. >>

040I was in the house. >> They're supposed to fix that. Uh, if you if you open up the floor plan there, you can expand the floor plan and um jump around the site. It'll take you to different areas. You can just take yourself to anywhere on that blue line. >> It'll jump around. >> Oh, nice. >> Yeah, >> this is also done on the academic side. Um, but this current link just shows the athletic side. >> So, jumping into some progress photos. Uh these are as of Wednesday of last week I believe. Um so you're seeing somewhat outdated uh visuals because so much has been happening so fast. So the first couple are what was remaining of the building um as of last Wednesday. If you were out there recently, um, as of today, essentially

041that whole foyer is gone. And there's still some minor demo work that's occurring with some of the roofing, uh, manor components and some other things that are going on out there, but substantially the demo is complete on the academic side. Uh, the last load of asbests went off site today, which is a good milestone. Um, and so this photo again, it's it looks a little bit different as of right now, but um, a lot has happened as far as demo goes. Uh, the next photo here is the egress at that eastern U corridor that we're installing. Um, for egress, I should say, uh, that is just north of the wrestling cardio rooms that goes through to the gym. Um, and that's a code requirement to have egress to the exterior. Um and so you'll you're

042seeing here where they cut that opening and um will install new storefront door or new door entrances at that point. Um the next one is a snapshot of some of the excavation for the foundations for the bleachers. Um and as of now they're forming those up and getting ready to uh install those foundations. So, that's exciting to see some progress there with what will be the bleachers. And the next couple, this second to last one is utility trenching. Uh, this is at over near the maintenance yard, uh, where they're doing some sewer and storm drain work. Um, some excavating that goes down for a storm retention pond and sewer sewer lines that are going into the south southeast area continuing through the athletic side. And then the final photo or no there's two left. The

043the second to last one actually this one is the old wrestling building. Uh that was the slab that was there. Um this happened a few weeks ago but just pointing out that it happened over the the over the month from the last update. And then the final photo. This is another snapshot of the utility trenching. This is actually looking east as those uh trenching lines get deeper for some of that work that's going on over there. So that is the May update. A lot going on out there. Do you guys have any questions? >> I do. Um I was wondering thinking about the consistency which I know you said was like 5%. >> Like a very big amount of I just wondering somebody you said we haven't touched it yet. I just wouldn't hopefully assume

044we haven't touched the content yet. So if we're touching it now it means there's we're really like we're not giving ourselves a lot to the future, right? It's still really early in the project. >> It is. Um, yep. And we've broken it out between the two phases. So, it's roughly 5% on each phase. >> Oh, okay. >> Um, but things that we wouldn't expect that as you start construction, especially on a demo project like this, uh, right off the bat, there's usually some things, um, design things or unforeseen like the asbestous that we found. Um, it was just something that was more than they expected. Um, layers of roofing that were under layers of roofing that went back historical. Nobody knew about it. Exactly. >> Like Chrome, that's one way to do it. >> Yeah.

045And we thought we had tested all the way through, but the testing agency just didn't go through the next layer to get to that layer. So, you have to update it uh properly. So, those types of things, that's one of them that we just encountered very early. Um, we feel like it's a it's a safe contingency at >> see like next month the contingencies pulled for some of that corrected for the extra work and then is that going to continue on down the line? She said it's more demo. When we re build, are we going to have more building to do in the future because we have to take more out for demo? >> No, this is this is still the same amount of demo material, same areas that are being demoed. The only difference

046was that we had to abate more asbesus. Okay. >> Um because they just found more so specialty contractor and they have to do it very carefully. So, um it was just added work. >> Where does it go? >> The asbesus. Yeah. Um, I believe they bury it. Uh, don't quote me on that. They contain it and I think it's just, um, yeah, it's it's contained so that it doesn't get airborne is the main thing. Um, >> look, this might be more of a question for Carrie, but I'll throw it out at you. You can tell, maybe you'll know. I'm thinking summer workouts for sports. I know they usually do. Was the gym going to still be accessible in summer or the weight room? Yes, we're working through details on some of the work that has

047to happen in the commons area. There's some foundation work and some electrical work um underground that has to occur and some sewer work. Actually, there's a lot that has to happen in there, which means some uh shutdowns for water and electricity. Um, so we're working through the exact time frames on when that is, but um, we think that mostly during most of the summer it will be accessible to the weight room and the gym for activities to occur in there. >> And then is that new corridor that where the entrance will be like for the graduation? >> No, that that's Yeah, there's there's the current entrance that's kind of at the that's north of that. There's a there's a corridor that is existing already uh that goes by like the black box and the north

048of the gym. I think that'll be the main entrance at graduation. Um this corridor is an egress point that's more of a emergency exit. Um I think long-term plan is that it could potentially be an entrance but not going to be the main entrance for graduation. Um, and it goes, yeah, it's it's more just north of the existing cardio room, which is turning into the wrestling room and goes all the way through to the gym. >> Okay. >> Those uh leure foundation look significantly more sturdy than what we current. >> They certainly are. >> We have all these highlights. >> Yeah, I know. What will capacity be of our bleachers? >> Uh, it's 1,500 seats. Um I think that it is slightly over 1500. I don't remember the exact count. Um I want to say

049like 1503 but on the top of my head I don't I can I can find out the exact count. >> Any other questions? >> Thank you. >> Good to see you guys. >> All right. B is the crossroads agreement with Mr. Beans. >> Okay. This is the annual crossroads agreement. So this comes to each year once we work with Evergreen um or they host this crossroads program to provide support for students with emotional behavioral needs. Students need to be eligible under special education the individuals with disabilities education act. Um and what this provides is a continuum of services. Some students seek more services than others and so this is an option for districts if there is a need for this level of support. for you is on track to those that >> you need clarifying

050question there any public comment on this item back to the board for further discussion or emotion by officials going >> currently I do not know that number two limited We have two. We have one that just moved into our district. So um was placed um during his time and others >> arrange to move by sometimes it depends. >> And do we pay Jerusalem to evergreen by seconded by Darcy? All those in favor? Uh C is the MTSBA membership renewal. >> Thank you. Uh again, this renewal is um presented to you uh every year. I'm sure you very um and uh so this is uh very new for the 26 27 school year uh there's a cost increase of only 2.5% which I think is very reasonable uh considering uh we also added uh an HR

051module risk assess uh uh risk management uh for only $1,500 which I think is a great tool uh for HRO. >> So um any any questions the HR module is that for anybody administ I think it's great. Yeah. Let's go. Are there any other questions? Is there any public comments on this item? Back to the board for a motion or further discussion. >> I move we approve. We utilize MTSBA un. >> Okay, that's moved by Darcy and seconded by Quincy. All in favor? Very good. E or no D. is that MQC renewal with Lucy Shane. >> Uh this is uh another or organization that we pay our annual membership to use to uh we're also pretty familiar with what they do. Uh we saw the results of their work uh during the last legislative session.

052uh the membership cost remains the same at $2,500 and it's been like that for quite a few years now. So I recommend you approve payment questions and is there any public comment on this item? Back to the board for further discussion or a motion. will be approved. It's presented. >> I'll second. Okay. >> That is moved by Darcy and seconded by Jerry. All in favor? >> Okay. E is our out of district students of Mr. Me. >> Um this is our renewal list for out of district students. So these are students who are currently in our district attending grade levels throughout our district. Uh so presented for you and administration recommends approval of the out of district student. >> There any questions? >> Um so I started to add them. Is that like 125ish? >>

0535:00 to 250. >> Oh okay. and count myself to camp. Um, is that pretty steady from year to year? >> I think a little bit. >> Do the districts are coming from unpay talking about? >> Yeah. Well, they pay. Yes, >> they have to. Yeah, I would think so, but I if our kids go there, they have to wait. mechanism payment to >> it's a motion that white fish school district um community members saving a dollar on their tax bill every year. That's that's seriously it is so much paperwork >> for a very little gain to see a study >> through all the districts and just what's like happening there's money save like >> losing a lot of money being a lot of money based on this or all paperwork doesn't entail >> what the

054intentions was to ask If we're meeting the intended outcomes to >> any other clarifying question or no we back discussion a motion there. >> We're back. Okay. Is there a motion on this one? >> I move we present or accept the out of district students as presented. >> I second. >> Okay. That is moved by Darcy and seconded by Quincy. Yes. All in favor. >> Thank you. So that is personnel recommendations for hire Mr. Sarah Cron. >> Good. >> If you have any questions for either myself, Sarah Crown, she up to the podium as well. But these are the recommendations for hire. Um through our HR process, we recommend approval. We can see we have a special educator at W MS WPHS special education teacher, assistant girls soccer coach, an instructional par educator, summer credit

055recovery, and the W fifth grade teacher. Are there any questions? There any public comment on this item? Back to the board for discussion or a motion. I'll move we approve That is moved by Katie and seconded by Quincy. All in favor G is the 2627 staff renewals with Mr. Me and Sam C. >> Okay. Through the HR process, administration recruitment's approval of our certified renewal list, our classified renewal list on Union renewal list. Uh for the certified renewalists I need to bring to your attention. We had a resignation today from one of our speech pathologists. So I would uh recommend uh removal of Chanel Lattis me from Greenless for your consideration. This is the renewal list of certified staff showing here. As you can see um this list includes the names and FD position and

056the location have classified in the list but similar absent position and location fulltime or part-time list you can see that list as well. Currently, how many staff members do we certify? >> I don't count that one up to >> 155 to 160. looks like the other but you know it constantly changes but I would say that's a good good >> and then the total that our total staff that we employ >> 250 plus >> yeah we have around 250 >> any other question any public comment on this item back to the board for discussion or a motion I was just going to say to move to approve it. Do we need to say with the change of >> Yes. >> Right. >> So I move we approve as presented with the change of removing Chanel

057theologist. >> I'll second that. So second by Jerry with the changes that will be made. All in favor? H is a resolution for the White Fish School District and County Election Department by Luc Sh favorite. >> So this year was our second year when our dress and or levy elections were run by the county election department. And I think um I don't have I can't say enough good things about the process, the communication, just efficiency, just working with uh with all the staff down at the county. It's been just absolutely wonderful. Uh so June 1 is a deadline uh for each school district to uh request uh the county uh conduct our elections again next year. And this resolution asks for that >> and and all elections that we may have during the next >>

058I recommend you Do we have to do it every year? >> Yes. We can't do it like five years or something. No, right now the law says we have to do it. >> Okay. Okay. Fair enough. >> Thank you. >> Are there any other questions? >> Yes. >> And this is irrelevant now, but um what do you know? Can you tell me has the turnout dipped? I love your question. I asked that question be couple of hours before this meeting but I never receive answer yet. So I don't know what our voter turnout is. >> I'm a person who votes all the time >> and yet I have a little bit of an overload and nowhere did it indicate this was the white page ballot that I'd be receiving. >> Well, it was of the

059ballot >> on the ballot but on the envelope, >> right? And so I wonder, you know, >> it has to be, you know, the thing with the out with the outside envelope is that it has to state where it came from and where it's going. >> Correct. >> And it used to say white dish. >> Correct. So we cannot change that. >> Correct. >> So we have to be diligent and open all our mail and the readings. No, I I see what you're saying because we got the school elections, right? And then a few days later we got the primary ballots and they look the same. Is there is it I read the pilot I read anyway. Um I don't remember seeing people being encouraged to vote for those >> but we always encouraged to

060vote. We have uh you know our social media uh Facebook uh does messaging our website as a popup uh window all the time. >> But I just wonder about community at large. >> Well, they had the um as far as the papers they did the bios of every um candidate within that it talked about when to vote. So I think that would be the only >> Yeah. Um, so yeah, I'm trying to think if I saw anything. I know that papa just sort of drive me nuts though. >> I know, but I know I think they work. I got it. >> But that's one of the things that I like because it's so in your face that you said the bound is nice that it automatically comes to your house. Um I have a question

061that somebody asked of me and I tried to explain it but I think you can explain it better which is that it said at the top of the ballot um elementary trustees and so somebody was like isn't it for the whole district and it is but can you explain how like there's atlarge or there's elementary and then >> and we all work for the same district but >> yes I don't know how to explain it in our >> so it has to do with the geographic boundaries of the elementary district and the high school district. The high school district is always a little bit bigger because it encompasses only but only has such a low population that they don't have a book. >> So all of you are elemental >> in so it's like this.

062So every >> Yes. So if this is this is the elementary district. Okay. Then this plus this since the high school district all need. So these people here don't have enough population to vote to vote. >> You know what population has to be because >> yeah has to be much larger than the >> but I I don't know off the top of my head because this was never an issue that we needed to look into for the last 90 years. But this is about I know my drawing is horrible, but this is what it is. And >> yeah, someone was like, I think I left the wrong ballad. It's only for the elementary school. And I said, no, >> I know all of us. It's just called that. >> Yeah. But if you remember, we

063have a levy election. Levy election that affects the high school district only. On only people do get that ballot. because it's high. >> Given that given that we've only had two years of the county doing the election, it would be really helpful, I think, to see if the participation changed from three years ago or four years ago to the last two years because if it is, then we should come up with some way to let the community know a little more. you know like maybe mailing it we can do >> so that people have more mail that they don't just postcard you know like yeah >> so they have more motivation to >> which comes at a cost correct >> and it's so >> because we have about 4,000 >> right >> so but even

064if it's just resident I don't know it just there's a significant ificant difference that would be worth exploring just by looking at the numbers I don't think there's a significant difference u you know we had I tell you exactly uh these are unofficial results but I'm going to share that just under 7,000 uh ballots received which is a lot >> I had 12,000 people >> yes >> actually a really good turnout Yeah. >> And of those almost 7,000 uh people did under votes and so on and so forth. But the votes cast total were 5,400. Okay. So in total 7,000 people have been mailed in. So that's 100% >> that's >> so >> just you know thinking back a few years I don't think that's a bad number >> as far as percentage it's also

065we have to remember the population is growing so we have to see how many new residents we have >> well I also think just for a trustee election that's a lot when you have a lot you know there right so this is just for trustee I think that's a pretty is all that turn out anytime over 50. >> Mhm. >> Yeah. >> Are there any other questions? >> Is there any public comments on the people? >> I don't think I mean if there's marketing things like I mean honestly for looking at a ballot and looking at like ways to market better to the community about the vote and whatnot. They make QR I mean QR codes are great you guys. Like you can send a link like on a QR code. There are actually stamps

066now that are QR codes. And so I don't know if like that could be like an option like to encompass everything that you guys are saying, but like that on whatever you guys are mailing out to be cost effective is the most effective. So like any pamphlets going into those letters or any pamphlets going into like ballots, like those sort of things. I don't even know if that's legal or not, but we could we could look at that as being like a more cost effective way to cause awareness that we're all talking about. and then meet the need. >> That is a great idea. Thank you for bringing that up. That is on the top. >> Yes, >> the popation. >> Great. >> Good idea. >> Great. Thank you. >> Okay. Uh back to the

067board for further discussion or motion. >> I just want to say I really appreciate that there's still a ballot box here at the district. I was afraid that you know, so that I think is very important. Yes. >> Yeah. to have that ability to just drop it off and especially because we have take takes so long to mail it in. So front and later you forget or something that's great. >> We don't have any intention uh of changing it. Uh the ballot box will always be >> Thank you. because people just like to come in and chitchat. That's right. >> I move we accept the resolution um to take the ask the flattened county election department to take over our elections. Oh, go ahead. >> So moved by Jerry and seconded by Rainey. All in

068favor? So, uh, item I is actions requests. As the presiding officer of this school board, I am calling this meeting to executive session for the purposes of individual privacy. >> I think we are good to go. >> We're good. >> Okay. So, uh, for item I, is there any I do on the comment? >> How do you do? >> Is there any public comment on item I >> back to the board for discussion or a motion? >> I move we approve the last request. I'll second. Okay. So, move by Ry and second by Jerry. All in favor? Okay. Moving on to see reports. We have administrator announcements and administrator report. Okay. >> Yeah. Awesome. >> He is ready. I've been intentional >> let's see where >> All right. Can you hear me? >> All right.

069Hi everybody. Apologies for not being there tonight, but playing some dad duties here this afternoon in the evening. Um, before I get started, I do want to congratulate Shannon on a successful run at the school board. So, thank you for all your years, Shannon, and all the time and commitment you put into the White Fish School District. Much appreciated. We did complete our 54th annual history trip. Um, I don't know if you saw in the Whitefish pilot a couple weeks ago, it was a looking back on history and there was a report, I think it was the fourth history trip that they were reporting on where they had a bus and a station wagon taking the eighth graders around the western part of Montana for their history trip. So, that was perfect timing as we

070were getting ready for our history trip. Um, again, just a reminder, just a a refresher, it's a thousand mile trip that we take all of our eighth graders on. every single one of them has an opportunity to um join the trip. Um this year we took 147 total eighth graders and we split them almost in half. We had about 80 84 on one side and about 60 on the other side. Uh they go opposite routes. Uh visiting with Mr. Jones probably between the two of us in the 5 years he's been on the history trip, the most successful history trip that we've had, we had uh no bus breakdowns. Yay. And we had very successful uh students that were um very cooperative, lot of compliments at the all the different sites. We had uh from

071the historical sites all the way to McDonald's and Wendy's and Town Pump. They all appreciated the the respectfulness uh of our students and staff that were along with uh one particular one that stuck out in my mind. We were at the Berkeley Pit and in but they take a lot of pride in their history in but we had a an older gentleman speaking to the kids about what's involved at the Berkeley Pit and what it means in the water and what they've been doing to help treat the water. And afterwards, we had one of our students uh go up to the gentleman, thank him, asked him if he was in the service, and the gentleman said, "Yes, I was." And he goes, "Thank you for your service." All unprovoked by anyone that was on the

072trip. He just did it on his own. Um you could see a lot of pride in that uh gentleman's um face after hearing the thank yous from that student, which prompted other students to go up and thank him, and he was just beaming with pride of his tour that he gave to this this group of kids. So again, another successful trip. We were able to complete it um on time. Uh I want to thank our bus drivers and all of our chaperons. We had uh eight nine 13 chaperrons I think on the on the trip. Um those uh volunteers helped make that a successful trip. And a huge shout out to our students for again stepping up and representing Whitefish Middle School themselves, their families, and the town of Whitefish. Um, as we would expect,

073>> that is all I have. >> Thank you for doing it, Josh. Thank you and Mr. Jones and all the crew that that takes. That's a lot of sandwiches. >> I don't think you're actually really the kid. I think you're still tired and you're probably laying in bed resting. >> Something like that. Yeah, something like that. got to be exhausting. Um I know the kids had a really good time and it sounds like it was a really good group of kids and that was always really fun and thank you for continuing that tradition. >> Yeah, some of the faces you see uh this week, Monday and Tuesday. Uh even this morning, I was opening a door for a girl and she looked at me beaming, "Thank you for that history trip." A person that probably

074wouldn't normally go on the trip and she had a success. I mean, a blast. It was just fun watching these kids get to experience this for a lifelong experience in their for the rest of their lives. >> That was awesome. >> Yeah. Thank you, Josh. Thanks, Josh. >> All right. Thanks for call allowing me to call in remotely and you guys have a good rest of your night. >> Absolutely. >> Thank you. >> So, we will move on to our superintendent report. >> Okay. >> Let's see. We have um your calendars there in front of you. We've got a lot happening. All right. So, uh it's great Carmela did such a great job for you that have with us. Um you can see um an enrollment um report here as well. Up a little bit.

075So, we have a few more students to come this month. Overall, you can see once again if you look down there, it's both kids coming in and and out as well of the area. a lot of movement in and out from the valley as well. So you see that that indicated in the lower parts of that environment there. And then you have resignations there for you to see. We've got nations listed. Any questions for >> I guess um can you just refresh my memory? I know it's this is sort of an enrollment but sort of not the kindergarten round up happened. Oh yes. Is that right? >> Okay. >> And how many students were um were at the kindergarten round this year? >> Fewer students the typical I can't remember the final number. We tested

07667 >> 67 >> last year we had 80 at this time but >> at that time. >> Yeah. >> So see >> to the record. >> Oh positions approved. Oh, thanks. >> If that's helpful for that question. Yeah, >> that your super >> Oh, my superintendent report. >> Yeah, >> we had uh you know, we were talking about the number of folks in each of those areas. Those certified 139, classified 59 and others 18. Thank you. Thank you. >> Thank you all. Interesting. So, conservatively, would you say we approve or Yeah, we approve hundreds a year, >> hundreds of renewals. >> Yeah, true. >> Good job. position activities and some other positions coming on next. >> Okay, any other questions for today? All right, we'll move on to director of business for her report. >>

077Thank you. >> Greetings from the business. So, you know, when you look at our uh monthly report, it's just numbers and pie charts, but that's not all we do. For example, right now we're in the middle of a health insurance open enrollment. >> So we do that every uh every May, the first few weeks in May. Uh we're doing medical which is through the newly established bridge health alliance. >> Um they have an absolutely wonderful online platform for enrolling. I'm very impressed. >> I was curious. Yes. >> Very impressed. >> So, we're doing medical, dental, vision, and life insurance all in all. >> Do a lot of people need help with that. uh uh but yes we do uh get a lot of questions but I think having an efficient online platform where they can

078do it themselves is incredibly fun you know yeah so I'd say if I look back looking back just five years and enrollment five years back I'd say oh thank you I think we uh we got our uh time involvement by maybe 50%. I think >> it's beautiful. >> Okay. if people can do it themselves rather than giving us a form because Blue Shield or Sigma or or whoever doesn't have that but you know ready for the open >> and then Carly and I have to take 250 pieces of paper and actually put it in. Uh so yeah, I'd say 50% uh time reduction is a very reasonable estimate in Yeah. So we're very happy. It's going it's going well. You know, it always gets a little bit more juicy towards the deadline. >> That's when

079the uh uh >> when is the deadline? >> The deadline is next Monday. Okay. So that's when you know people who >> don't want to ask those questions now starting with those super difficult questions that they could have asked two weeks earlier but it's been going great. I think um about a third of all employees have already enrolled and went through the process over >> have you heard from them about how they think the process is >> uh so far yes a few of them said oh this was so easy. >> Okay. Now, who says that about open enrollment? I know that. So, I'm I'm very happy for that. And uh you know, um I I have to say the people at the Bridge Health Alliance are they're actually building things still on the go.

080>> Wow. So let's say we say okay we would re we could really use a report a canned report that includes xyz things they said okay give us a build it >> uh so it's still you know um be I can't even imagine how busy it is on their end but I'm I'm very happy with the way it's going and then we're incredibly already in miday. Uh so that's when um Katie McKay and I are trying to slow down purchases which is not always successful but we're always strong. Uh not that we don't want them to purchase what they uh have a budget available for. We don't want them to do it on June 11th, one day before they leave for their summer break and they then leave us with 100 purchase requisitions, right? So,

081we're trying to uh speed it up, move those deadlines a little bit. >> Uh again, I've been doing this for 17 years. It haven't worked perfectly yet, but we uh keep trying. We're already looking at um you know a year at closing in the accounting books. Uh and then u now the time to look at our monthly you know uh Luke mentioned that um and you could see from Luke's pictures that the construction is really picking up and yes we can say it in the dollar amounts of the invoices that are coming coming soon. Now it's uh now it's seven digits numbers. Seven digit numbers when we get invoices, you know, not not $25,000. >> Yeah. >> Um so, but that's been going well. Um and everything um is pretty much where it should be

082for this time of the year. You know, what's the plan um for the federal grants? Um that's some of that. Does that mean does that have a June 30 deadline? >> Yes. So let's look at those. So title one all of title will be spent all of IDEA will be spent and uh hurricanes will also be spent. Then on under the state grants you have couple uh uh that are that don't have to be spent much they carry over for example advanced forune or transfer or gift uh we will still try to d into uh not dip into it but spend some of that money still but those uh mckin bento has to be spent Uh but the the three that are on top of page of that p of page six they they carry

083over to next year. >> We possibly get more money and then next year or is it kind of a one time? >> I guess it's a grant so we don't know. >> I don't know. Um it's possible we'll get money into advanced opportunity for sure. transformational is uh not a grant that they're putting money into anymore. So when that's gone, that's gone. >> And I believe gifted and talented will have more money. >> Yes. Good question. Sometimes we don't know what's going to come our way. >> Yeah. Then I just get bad or good news from Sarah and Lisa. Only good news. The only good news is the Friday. >> Do they come with like a green sign? >> No. No. They just >> they just stop by and let you know. >> Yeah. >>

084Any other questions? >> Um we will move into the consent agenda. Um, is there any clarifying questions? No, just voting. Is there any public comment on the consent agenda? Back to the board for a motion. >> Second by Katie and seconded by Quincy. >> Thank you. >> I'll second that. at 7:36 by Katie. Second by Shannon. All in favor? Thank
