010We do have a new recognition that will be um a part of our monthly celebration in terms of how our attendance goes on for As a part of our efforts to increase our attendance, we have a Robin trophy that will go from school to hopefully a new school each month based [clears throat] upon who has the highest attendance rate as well as who has improved attendance month over month. for the month of November. At this time, we are proud to present the traveling trophy to the school with the highest attendance rate for the month of November. This recognition celebrates a strong culture of commitment, consistency, and student engagement. With an outstanding attendance rate of 96.02%, Grownup Valley Early College has demonstrated excellence in ensuring students are present and ready to learn each day. Congratulations to
011the students, staff and families of Ronald Early College. Thank you. The next for most improved attendance award, we also recognize the school that showed the greatest improvement in attendance from October to November. This award highlights growth, dedication, and the impact of intentional efforts to improve daily attendance. With the highest growth rate of 0.14% during this period, Welden Elementary School has made meaningful progress towards strengthening student attendance. Congratulations to Welen Elementary School for this positive momentum and continued commitment to student success. Good job. Yes. Thank you so much Miss Rick Bner for um the recognition of the upcoming school events new hires and standing in um absence of Mrs. Sany. Next we will have our public forum. Dr. Bloom, do we have anybody for >> Yes, ma'am. We do. We have Miss Cynthia Bird. Okay, Mr.
012Bird. >> All right. Good evening. Good evening. >> Good evening, Mr. Bird. Um, we have three minutes for public forum and uh, Mr. Davis will let you know when you have one minute remaining. Good evening, chairperson hail, board members, superintendent Boone, and public citizens. I address you today as a concerned parent, a community member, and an advocate for youth and their learning for whom our school system and our schools purport to exist. My name is Cynthia Bird and I am the parent of an 11th grade student who attends Rock Arve, Ronald Valley Early College. This evening, I'm asking you to enforce your promises and your policies to provide appropriate learning opportunities, clear communication that is consistent, respectful, and interactions that are equitable for our students and for our parents because that is not happening now.
013And I am coming to you again asking for support with seeing those things. Most recently, my child has requested to engage in CDM, which is credit through demonstrated mastery at Ronald Valley Early College. Civics is held out as one of the pillars of the school. And at this time, he's being told no, that that cannot happen. I do not understand why that is the case and I do not think it is fair. First of all, he researched himself to find out about that opportunity. He approached me with it and I told him, "Take it to your school counselor to find out about it." When we did not receive feedback, I asked him to go in again. Then I went in and met with with him to meet with the counselor. Please note that those are
014three outreaches that we have had to research, initiate, and follow through on when he's the student and I'm the parent. So then my question is what is the school's responsibility for making children aware of their opportunities? Is he deserving of this opportunity? Yes, he is. First of all, because he is saying, "I'm willing to put in the work to do it." Secondly, he's asking for this opportunity in civics, which is a course that's already taught in the high school. It was just taught last semester. He just completed parts one and two of American history on the community college side with high A's. If he feels that he should be able to challenge that course, he should. Well, the syllabus already exists because the class is already being taught. The final exam must already exist because
015the class is already being taught. He's willing to take the syllabus home and work during Christmas himself in order to prepare. So, why won't the school say yes that he can come in on a teacher work day before the semester starts to actually take the written part to see about moving it to the second part? and he's already acknowledged if for some reason he's not successful then he'll enroll in the course but it's not fair to say oh the school isn't ready so he has to wait who wants to delay between the time when you're prepared and the time when you're ready ready to step out and act so I'm asking you board review your policies take action to see that what is happening with the students is what you're promising and what you're outlining
016is going to happen for them thank Thank you. >> Thank you, Miss Bird. >> You're welcome. >> Now, we will have reports and we'll start with Dr. Kaboom's superintendent report. So, good evening everyone once again. I'd like to start by reporting that we did have three students whose applications have been submitted to Governor School and we should receive notification of acceptance or non-acceptance uh by early March, late February, early March. So, we're excited about that. I'd also like to say that our 12th grade students at both Weldon High School and Arv were provided the opportunity to take the ACT work keys test at Halifax Community College. And we are very thankful that HCC has partnered with us to provide this opportunity to our students prior to spring state testing. We are trying to use every
017opportunity available to help our students to demonstrate proficiency and to do well. Uh thirdly, I'd like to say uh proudly that we had 100% participation for our EOCC testing for this semester. That's something to be proud of. >> I am also proud to announce that we have achieved 100% on our December headcount for EC. >> Yes. And while I'm going, I'll keep right on going being proud. I'm further proud to say that our EC department has received a grant in the amount of $96,000. That grant will be used toward uh dealing with behavior issues that may be going on in our schools. There'll be some social emotional learning, maybe even bring in some guest speakers and do some mentorship and a few other other things going on as well. So, that is exciting news. Um,
018and as I said, let's not stop there. >> U, the next thing I'm excited about is we have had several students to be inducted into FTHEA Kappa uh, honor society. Uh, that took place not long ago. We had several from Arvette, one from the high school, uh, Parish Hunter, Alana Knight, Amura Mangia. I might have said that wrong, but Ammani Mitchell, Christian Robinson, Marquez Smith Banks, Adriana Taylor, Andre Williams, bec Gary. So, we can be proud of those students for doing an outstanding job in the class. Um, basketball is in full swing for both our middle school and our high school. So, I've had the opportunity to go out to the middle school game and I tell people when I sit beside them that I am a basketball fan and I do tend to get
019into the games quite a bit. So, if you see your superintendent acting up a little bit or standing or walking or doing whatever, it's because I am really into the game and I really don't like to lose. So, um but we had a really good game despite the fact that our middle schoolers lost. They played a really good game. We did have our band concert last night at Halifax Community College. We're proud of the students for doing a great job on last night. And hats off, I want to say hats off to our finance department for turning around everything that they had to do in the month of December. We brought to them or I brought to them supplements for the entire district in November. So they were tasked with making sure regular payroll was
020done on top of supplements for every employee in the district on top of having a fairly new person in payroll and everything that they had to do. And I think we should give them a round of applause >> because they were able to do it. Yeah. >> Um, finally, I want to say merry Christmas, happy holidays. Um, if I don't get to say it before the end of the meeting, I do just want to say that I want everyone to be safe, healthy, happy, enjoy yourself, enjoy some time off for those who decide to take it, get some rest, and do what makes you happy during that time. Um, thank you to Commissioner Bryant for being here tonight. Um, Miss Mary Duncan, I see her. She's coming up next. She takes all of my emails,
021you all. She always emails me back. She does. She puts up with me asking several questions. I thank you, Miss uh, Denton as well. I'm not sure what your name is, but I'm sure you're with them. So, thank you for being here as well. So that is really all that I have at this moment and I am going to turn it over to Miss Mary Duncan at this time for her to give us a sales tax presentation. >> I have with me Thomas Evers and Dia Mr. Bryant. >> Good morning. How are you? >> Okay. I'm a tactical person. So, you're getting a hand out instead of a PowerPoint. >> You can go home and have some homework. [laughter] [clears throat] >> Thank you. There you go. Throw that under. >> Thank you so much.
022>> There you go. All right. So, the last time I presented this to you, well, it was a totally different board. It was seven years ago. Now, I don't gladly refresh, glad to meet with everybody and and and talk about how things are done. that work and county disperses local revenues to student names and for sources got school taxes share of sales and local tax general county funding for current expense and capital outlays then funds and forfeiters and that's the court system comes in we and then the next page you see there's is the map of the county. In blue, you have the Welden School District and that's the supplemental school property taxes are queued by all owners in that blue outline. So, and Welen City School includes properties in Ron Rapid such as Walmart's
023restaurant row um things of this nature. So, next page over is uh an example. So, the Welden School District property tax is 20 cents for 100. So, if you have a house that's worth $250,000, divide that by the $100, it gives you 2500. 2500 times the 20 cents then makes the tax $500. So, that would be just an example as how it's derived. and then on each indiv as a county collects it and then pays it to cities. Then the next one here's the map of the entire county. Sales and use tax are paid by anyone who purchase goods or service certain services in Halifax County. So unlike property taxes, everything in Halifax County is taxed and doesn't matter where it was sold. Doesn't matter. It could have been in it. It could be in
024Hollywood. It's all part of your pot of money. That's when you get dispersed back out. I use my hands in case y'all had to get out of hand. Again, local sales tax. That's everybody. That's Dollar General's at McDonald's. That's the restaurants. That's all of that. That is your local sales and use tax. All right. All right. Sales tax is again collected by the retailers that is then sent to the state. So let's we'll use September. So September sales gets sent to the state in October. Then the month of November, Department of Revenue analyzes and calculates and does all of their work there. And then they send it out in December. So you're going to have a three-month lag by the time that the actual sale happens and then the time that the money comes to
025the county be dispersed back to you guys. So it's the month of sale, calculation month, payment month. So again, doesn't matter where the sale was made as long as it happened in Halifax County. This is why we always say shop at home. >> Then you keep your dollars here. >> Local sales and use tax from purchases made like we've already have a tendency to summarize things here, but you're and it goes to the seven municipalities. So again, it's shared all that data. Okay. And then this is something that the commissioners decide once a year. Are we going to do per capita? We're going to do ador. This is discussing the distribution methods. So it can be done. Per capita is based on the population of each municipality and county. add the Laur is a prorated
026share based upon the levy of each municipality in the county and the levy is something that the assessor the tax assessor gives to us July one and that's what we use to go forward and the board has always voted to use the adorum method so because it's adorum Halifax County is required to give some of its share of sales tax to each of the taxing districts That means fire department and sports costs that's included in a levy. So levies with the supplemental school tax. Now this is where the difference comes in as well. Roto rabbits is not part of that. They were legislatively. So they rabbits collects their own tax and they pay the cities. That is not something that the county does. So they are totally unique. We know we do next county schools
027city school. Okay. If we didn't use per capita public city schools would not proceed any share of sales and use tax that would be distributed only to the municipalities. >> And the is sales throughout the entire cabin. We got local current expense outlays on >> I um my question would be in regards to the supplemental school property taxes. And I know that um our school district like you said is in the area of um Walmart, Bel, all the major retail stores are for this area. Um do you and that money does it just go to Wellland City Schools or is because it's in our district. So we still divided amongst um >> it's all goes into one big pot of money. I said as long as this total happens in Halifax County, that's where it's
028distributed out. So it's um like I said, if you bought something in Hoggood, you guys will get a share that sale that took place in Hopgood. So it is not restricted to only the businesses within your district. It is it is countywide. >> So there's no really no difference between the local because I thought the local was county. >> Now your supplemental tax >> that's what I'm asking. That's what I was asking about. >> Well, okay. Supplemental. I'm sorry. I was thinking about that one. But your supplemental now that would be your property taxes for the those would be the businesses within the property. So, >> no Walmart. >> Yes. And Walmart would be >> Yeah. >> Loadsburg. >> All of those that is your supplemental tax. >> That's what I was asking. >> Oh,
029yes ma'am. I'm sorry. I misunderstood. >> I'm sorry. So, yes, your property tax that is yours. Okay. And the sales tax is countywide. >> Property tax is ours >> in New York. >> Yes. >> So about how much is the property tax? I mean a roundabout period. >> Was it 76? >> No. Seven. >> 70. >> The districts is 20. >> Yeah. And now it's 20 cents. >> Supplemental. >> Your supplemental is 20 cents. >> Okay. I thought it was the max. It's not the max. >> It is the max. >> Okay. Look at the supplemental school tax page that it says there, property taxes are paid by all owners of taxing property located within the school district boundaries. And that's where we've got the blue. So that's >> hotels. >> So all the property
030tax you ask yourself. >> That was my question. I was just because I knew that you know we were in a prime our district is in a prime location. >> Yes. So, >> but it's not the sales tax. And that's what I'm that's what I was confused on. >> Sales tax is for the entire >> county and property tax is just for >> our district. >> Like I said, when the Lone Star opens up, that is your supplemental taxes coming to you. >> New hotel, that's yours. >> Okay. >> Thank you. Thank you so much. Is there a document where everything's broken down though? Like I would like to see how things are broken down with the sales tax and property tax. >> Talking about actually saying the numbers. >> I'd like to see the
031numbers. >> All right. I can do that. >> Thank you so much. >> Thank you very much. We appreciate it. This is good. >> Thank you so much for your time. >> Anybody have any questions? Any other questions? >> All right. Thank you so much. Thank you. >> Thank you all. Thank you. >> So, next I'll ask Miss Kathy if you have some information about ESS. Do we have any information about how much what the complete total is worth being paid each month or we don't have that? >> Okay. when we table essentially want to table it. So we need to vote on that. >> Yes, you will vote to table. I'm sorry I missed the question. I make a motion that we table the ESS discussion. >> Second. >> Okay. The motion followed to
032table discussion about ESS until next month. Are there any questions? >> All those in favor say I. >> I. >> Any oppose? Eyes have it. Motion carries. We tableabling that discussion until next month. Next item. >> Okay. I was about to say I have about three to table since we started the plan for the existing middle and high school. I'd also like to table that until next month, but and at the same time, I'd like for us to consider scheduling a work session for the month of January. >> They can do that right now for January. Um Tuesday, Either one is fine with me as long as it's not the 13 or 14. What about this six? I think that's fine. I hope it's not working. >> Okay. What about we do Thursday the 8th?
033>> The eth is okay. Um Mr. Davis, is that good for you? Yeah, I can make that work. >> Is it good? >> What time? >> I won't be here, sir. >> We won't be here. >> I'm not going to be able to be here on eight. >> But we can do I mean we I thought you was talking about that week. That's why I said the eight, >> but we can do I mean I can do the next week is Well, >> this don't but don't hold it up to me. Are you okay with this? >> I think your provider needs to be work. >> Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. >> But let's look at another date. So >> seven works for me. >> The seven work for you. >> Don't work for me.
034>> Seven doesn't work for you. >> What about the fifth? >> Fifth. >> It's a day for me. 12. >> No. >> 12 13. >> Thank you. Um cuz she wanted to do it before the next board meeting. The next board meeting is scheduled for the 15th. We don't have to pass >> Okay. I'm good at 12. >> 13. 12 13 or 14. >> It's not good for her that week. >> January. >> Yeah, say what about the 27th or 29th? >> January. >> Yes. >> Oh, good. >> Which one? Both >> the week the week before that February >> the 20th and 22nd. >> I'm good. >> Either one of those 27th or 29th work. >> Okay, Miss Hson. >> Yeah, I'm good. >> M Robinson, >> get the What are we talking about?
03527th and 29th. >> 27th. >> Either one of those work for me. >> Which one you >> Okay. Either one work for me, too. Would you rather do Tuesday or Thursday? Let's go ahead on Tuesday. >> What time? >> 5:30 on Tuesday 27. >> You >> are you going to be here with us? >> Can you make it happen? >> What time? >> 5:30. >> What time? >> But it's a work session. Can we just call them if we need him or do we need to actually have them here as a work session? >> Right. >> Can you just be on standby? >> Somebody can be available. >> Okay. >> Is that the date? Wednesday. >> No, Tuesday the 27th at 5:30. >> All right. [clears throat] >> And the primary issue is the existing
036middle and that'll be our work. That'll be our work. And that's when we'll talk about these other things. So, what was is there was there something else out of them that you wanted to tell? >> Um, facilities fee schedule. Okay. So, then we add that update here. >> Yes. >> So, are you do you want somebody to be here or are you saying available by tele? >> We don't need no We don't need We don't need coverage. Just >> no coverage. >> No cover. We just need coverage on the 15th. >> Okay. So also could I get a motion to table uh number three and four on the agenda which is plan for the existing middle and high school and facilities fe schedule. >> I make a motion to table the plan for the existing
037middle high school and the facilities facilities fee schedule. >> Okay. Is there a second? >> Second. >> Okay. There has been motion in properly second to table the plan um plan for the existing middle high school and facilities fee schedule also into the work session for January 27th. Any questions? >> All those in favor say I. >> Any opposed? Eyes have. Motion carries. Dr. D. >> Okay. And drug testing is listed up here not necessarily as a report but for information according to policy 7240. Um, employees may be subjected to a search of his or her personal belongings or of school property under the employees control if there is a reasonable suspicion that the employee has violated this policy. An employee also may be required to submit to a drug or alcohol test where there
038is a reasonable sus suspicion of drug or alcohol use. So, um I only bring that up because beginning in January, we would we are going to do um random drug testing especially if there is um reasonable suspicion. But that is the plan. So, I just wanted to bring that to the forefront and make you aware of the policy that I've been looking at in terms of making that part of what we do. So again, that's policy 7240. >> Right. And the last item I have under superintendent report is for you all to have a discussion on the board vacancy. Y'all want to do it now? You want to wait? >> No. >> I agree with it now. >> Okay. So, you say you agree with Noah and Mr. V. I'm sorry, Mr. Davis. I was
039asking because normally that's one of the last things we talk about going on discussion but it's under Dr. Boom's um report. So did you I was asking that you want to move it to discussion for later but as I was saying that it's already been out or suggested by two board members to move it to the work session. That's why the difference. >> Okay. >> So, you're not going to discuss it tonight? >> That's what I'm asking them. But they don't know what to do. >> But we do use the oil. I thought well I mean so are I thought it's doesn't it always appear in your agenda because you're supposed to put forth some kind of an effort to fill the vacancy. >> Yes. >> Right. >> I was asking that we move to
040the end to discussion is usually discussion. That's what I was saying. >> Oh okay. To the discussion part of the meeting. Oh that's fine. But then I thought I heard you say the work session. That's what that's what that's what was suggested. That's what I was asking. pleasure of the board. >> Okay. Well, we would normally say that because you have a statutory obligation to try to fill the vacancy, then you should at a minimum discuss it at every >> Okay. Well, we'll move it to discussion. We'll move it to 11. Okay. >> All right. >> 11. >> Yes, we're going to move it under discussion. Okay. All right. So, next item is mini and my report. And as we approach the Christmas holiday, I want to take time out to simply say thank you.
041Say thank you to each and every one of you all that are present tonight and those that are online and those that will hear it in the weeks to come. Thank you and I thank our community for your continued support to the city schools districts. I see a change and I know that you all feel to see a change also within our district. I'm truly honored and grateful that I have been reelected as board chair. Um board members, your confidence in me means more than words can express. So I do not take this responsibility lightly. And as you all can see from the audience tonight, we're all dressed in unison and that's what we're working towards. We're working together. No more silos. And that's what we're trying to bring everybody together in the district to
042work together instead of working in silos because we're all working for a common cause and that is to um educate these children so that they would be competent out in the workforce in the world. Um also um I would also like to extend my sincere appreciation to our superintendent Dr. them and the dedicated faculty and staff that she works with each and every day, whether they're here at the central office or in or in each individual schools. I see all four of our principles here. I see directors here. I see coordinators here. And I want to let you all know that your work does not go unnoticed. Um, and we are deeply thankful for all that you do for our district each and every day. As we enter this season of reflection and gratitude, I
043hope Christmas bring you peace, joy, happiness, and renewal to you and your families. Thank you for all that you do, and I look forward to continuing to working together for the betterment of WC schools in the year 2026. Merry Christmas and have a happy, happy, happy new year. Good night. The next item on the agenda is going to be Mrs. Miss Kathy Kidd financial [clears throat] report board chair board members Dr. Bone and all others. Good evening. >> Good evening. >> Presenting the 202526 budget resolution for approval. The budget resolution is comp comprised of our state federal local outlay school nutrition and the other local special funds f this year 2025 2026. As you all know the state did not approve a budget this year. So we are operating on what is called base funding
044which is primarily the same funding as last year. We were holding out being hopeful for an approved budget with increases but of course that didn't happen. And in your packet you will also see line item the line item budget report for all funds by PRC which is included in your packet as well. So right now requesting approval for the budget resolution. My time is up. >> I just extended that. So you get >> you have questions. >> Anyone have any questions, comments? >> Audit. >> Yes. We're hoping to do it this month, but um they have put it in. [clears throat] They're all behind because of the government shutdown and there's information that they were not able to get. Miss Kathy, I mean Miss um I do have one question and I know that it's
045the same thing but I want to ask a question about um 848 which is um graduation that total amount is that divided amongst between the two high schools? Yes. Or that it does not include the middle school? >> No, just the two high schools. Okay. And that's you said the same budget from last year >> basically. Yes. >> All right. So um and unfortunately as increases or decreases come in budget amendments will be presented to the board for vote. >> Okay. Can I have any questions from anyone? Can I get a motion to approve the budget resolution that was present that has been presented to us tonight? >> Yeah, I make a motion to approve the bud budget resolution that was presented tonight. >> Okay. >> Second. >> Okay. It's been motioned and properly second
046to approve the budget resolutions presented tonight to the 20 2526 uh budget. Are any questions? All those in favor say I. I. >> Any opposed? Eyes have it. The motion carries. Thank you so much. Next item on the agenda is federal programs and student services. Mr. >> Good evening, madam chair, chair, I have provided to you in your packets updates within federal programs and student services. The um only part that I would like to call your attention to is the requirement related to welder middle school's restart status that will need to be decided on or before the 28th. Um I included the information that was included in the prior month's board packet um so that it can remain on your your forefront for your decision about continuing as a restart school. You do not have
047to make a decision this month or next month. But in the month of February, you will have to provide a um a decision so that we can move forward. There are two options. One is to continue authorization and the second one is to exit and remove the authorization. Those are the only two. We are we do have the data to support continuing but it is definitely a board's decision about how we operate the restart schools whether we continue and I'll be happy to answer any questions as it relates to any other information that was provided to you in the >> All right board did you want to go ahead on vote on tonight get out the way or did you want to wait >> I would like for us to um have a little bit
048more time to discuss it at our work session. >> Okay. >> Yeah, I agree. >> I have that for >> Okay. All right. Thank you so much, Mr. >> Thank you. >> All right. Next item on the agenda. >> I one question. M we're locking it in for what? Five years. It's a three-year process and then you start in the renewal phase. >> Okay. So, okay. Thank you again. All right. I'm just looking through the packet there and I see this um this grant strong connections grant. >> Yes, ma'am. >> And we've been approved for it. >> Um yes, ma'am. This is one that we were approved for um back in the spring. >> Okay. Um it was one that was the carryover was when we did not receive the 21st century grant. Okay. >>
049We used the work and the efforts that the team had done on the 21st century grant and applied for that NC strong connections grant. Um so that um is basically the efforts um similar to what 21st century would do but it's about keeping our students safe off the streets involved in meaningful activities that are related to steam. Um so it has an arts approach to it. ELA and reading is going to be embedded throughout. So you might not see ELA or reading as a separate proposed activity but all of the areas will include reading. Okay. >> And we do have signs. There's no one outside. You can see in the hallway with the beast school as well. We're trying to recruit kids. We recruit kids. Then we recruit the teachers to match the kid instead
050of having staff employed and then trying to find students. We're reaching for kids first and then matching stat. >> Okay. >> All right. Thank you so much. But we already have 182,000 in our college. >> All right. Frank. >> All right. The next item is going to be curriculum instruction. Uh Dr. Tanny Ben. Okay. So, you all have a packet in front of you. You have any questions about anything from CNI, mainly CTE or EC? have one question for um you see and that is I saw that we have 110 students identified have 107 on headcount where will we be able they process or where why did we why weren't they question good evening everybody they are in process however the state has the cap of 13% of the students can be identified as students.
051We're currently over cap. We have 19.5% of our students that have been identified. Because of that, the difference between the two, the 6.5% that number of students we will not receive any funding for, which is seven. And because we are over um where we should be. So the discussion that Miss Bulock and I have had is if we are going to do testing to see if some of those students that were previously identified maybe should not be identified because we want to reduce that number down um because it is you know students that we don't get funding for. However, we don't we also don't want to over identify our kids. So, that's something that she will be working on. Any other questions? So, I'd just like to say that we're testing. I'm not going into
052the data per se, although some of the data looks really good right now, but I will not go into it just yet because we did some retesting today. Um, and I sure hope I get a call at about 11 o'clock tonight telling me what that data looks like. So, no worries. I will be making a second phone call if I get that phone call to Dr. Edwards. He'll be on speed dial waiting for and then we will let you all know. But some of the data does look really good for this first semester. >> One other thing, I'm sorry. Um, the CTE business education vacancy, is this a new position or someone has vacated? >> Someone has vacated. Okay. >> That was Miss >> Okay. Yeah, we have um a person who is no longer
053at the high school. >> Okay. >> I I'll share it. >> I I didn't remember this part of it. >> Yeah. >> I was thinking it was a new position. I thought we were adding to >> It would be nice. Not yet. Hopefully, we will. Okay. Okay. Any other questions? DN. Okay. >> Okay. Next item. >> Good evening everyone. >> Good evening. >> Uh real briefly just a couple of things with the new school. Um we had a final box walk on the uh December the 2nd where we've been able to see the final approval for the admin scoops and and the B-wing the Dwing uh before they final wall installation. Um we had a meeting Wednesday and u so they informed us that the uh we have the chillers on the yard right now.
054um put windows in place as well as the uh the generator is being put in place. Um they've also increased the uh temporary heat and lighting in areas uh B&D. So during the winter months they'll be able to go in and start doing a lot of work that needs to be done there which will be the uh the B and D sections are the high school section and the finish group section. going to see a lot of increase going on in those areas starting to finally start coming together going in looking like it's looking like a u a section off building there on the inside so it's looking real question that blue that's going to be brick right >> everybody's asking about the blue so the blue that you see on the front is a
055seal it >> um so you won't you won't be able to see >> that's what I thought yeah it'll There will be some blue on that front, but it's going to be navy. >> So that light looking royal looking blue, that's just to seal it for the that goes over the sim, >> right? I just want tell people the right thing. >> Yeah. Yeah. If you tell them that, you'll tell them. >> Okay. Good. >> What's the next call? >> The next one. >> So that was the uh last one I believe for the for the for the box. Yeah. Now, they may have um additional walk through, but that's that's going to come after they get to uh when we do like the final walk when they have a sale. >> Yeah. So, they
056haven't put a date out. >> Gotcha. >> Any questions? >> All right. Thank you so much, Mr. Hun. Mr. Huner, no questions for the new school, but do we have an update on the office spaces? So, with the office space, um, we just found out that the, uh, building inspector has been waiting for the, uh, Hback contractor. There was some information that he's supposed to been sending to him. Um, and he's been waiting for that before he come to do his final inspection. Um, so we made the contact and got in contact with the HVAC contractor to send him that information so that we can go and get that fire. Okay. >> All right. Thank you so much, Mr. Hunt. You're welcome. >> And I get a motion to include an agenda. Let's I have
057a um question about >> Yes. Um, so this is I don't remember seeing if this goes okay. That's how local it is. >> Road Express. Is this a new? >> No, it's it's fairly he's been around for a minute. Um, he just came to us um by way of one of my seniors. Um, so he's promising us a discount over the other companies we used to have. >> So as we weigh in our options, we wanted to at least have them approved so we can have that option and they can do the whatever they need to do battle >> so you can put him in. >> So the request is to add health to with this. Yes, sir. >> Check all the boxes already. out. Yes, sir. >> Can I get a motion to approve?
058Yeah. >> Any other questions? I'm sorry. >> Can I get a motion to approve the consent agenda? >> Make a motion to approve consent agenda. >> Second. >> Okay. There's been motion properly second to approve to approve the consent agenda. Are there any questions? All those in favor say I. >> I. >> Any oppose? Eyes have it. Motion carries. Next item is break. We don't need a break. >> All right. And um discussion and we said we're going to move it down here for the board vacancy. And we've had a vacancy seat since September of last year. we have undergone well we've set up um interviews for um to fill the seats and that was not successful. So as u Mr. Malone said um we have to be working towards it. So that's why it's
059on the agenda again for tonight. >> So um what is your preference is your preference or the board's preference. Do you all want to go back and um go back to square one, put it out there, advertise again, or would you like to have the last individuals that we had scheduled for interviews to um to still interview them? >> No. >> Or would you like have another option too? The third option was just to you could point wasn't just people on the seat belt etc. I mean that's an option. No, but they didn't come to interview the first >> I understand. But I to say that you could >> Yeah. Okay. Well, or somebody. True. It doesn't have to be somebody that applied to be honest. >> Okay. >> But they'd have to accept though.
060>> Right. Right. Right. >> So, yeah, but those those are kind of the options. Start over. Reach back out to the I think it was three people who did not show up to see if they're willing to be interviewed, >> right? simply appoint one of the three people and see if they accept or to uh appoint somebody else >> randomly to see if they'll accept >> or but basically you know start over or interview the people or the maint. >> Uhhuh. So what is the pleasure of the board? Or you have um he also said we have an hybrid option that will be to direct uh our board clerk to contact the remaining potential candidates who have not officially withdrawn um which was Mr. McGabate, Miss Dolby, and Miss Hopkins and ask if they're still
061interested and give them a deadline for response. Then, if they have not responded by the deadline, reissue the advertisement and adopt the new proposed schedule of next steps. >> Yeah, I want you to start over. >> Yeah, I think that's no problem. You think >> it back up? >> All right. So if we're starting Okay. Well, that's the first step. So, um, that's the first step we've taken. So, what we'll do is add it to our agenda. We got to set up dates and stuff to have the letter go out and all that stuff and set up interviews and everything. >> Add it to our agenda for the work session. No, I I think that I mean arguably all you need to do at the moment would be to um establish a new deadline for
062applications to come in and to direct the superintendent to reissue the old application with a new date. Right. >> It wasn't an application. >> I mean a um >> just a notice. >> A notice. Yeah. Sorry. >> Reissue the same notice with a new date. You don't have to really decide what's beyond the deadline for the for the applications at this time. You can do that at the work session or conduct. You can go ahead and start the >> good part. >> Okay. So, and then we can add it on our work session to discuss and I mean details after that. Right. >> So, with with with the um advertisement, what deadline would you all suggest because we are in holiday season. >> I'll say um when do we come back um the fifth? >>
063Yes. >> Say one week after that. So one week after that Friday following the 5th following not following the 5th but following that next week following Friday. I'll give them two weeks a full two weeks >> like January 16. on the 23rd. >> No, I'm sorry. January 9th. >> Yes, the 16th. >> Yeah, I think we're full two weeks. >> And then that's a good point. Then you're worth When is your next regular meeting? >> If you made the deadline the 14th, >> then you'd at least know at the board meeting how many people had applied and you could maybe talk about that at the 15th. That's another opportunity. That's our 14. >> 14% was that >> I like 15. I don't know. Just the middle of the month. >> By noon. >> Okay. >>
064By noon. >> Yeah. January 15th. >> I just like the middle of the month. I don't get to. >> Okay. So, we got that scheduled. All right. Anything anything else you need to um discuss tonight? We got it by meeting actions close session. >> Oh, okay. >> All right. Can I get a a motion to approve um the actions from close session? >> I'll make a motion to approve the actions discussing close session. >> Second. >> Okay. It's been motioned and properly second to approve close session action items. Are there any questions? All those in favor say I. >> Any oppose? Eyes have it. Motion carries. Any comments? >> I'd like to say merry Christmas to everybody like a happy holiday. >> Merry Christmas everyone who has enjoyed this 20 25 year and I look
065forward to seeing you in 2026. We will go higher and be better in 26 than we were in 25. So right >> thank each and every one of you for all your hard work. Enjoy your families, enjoy your loved ones, uh be prosperous, be merry, and be healthy, stay safe. >> Happy holidays to all. Please be safe, eat lots of good food, >> um get some rest, and be re-energized for 2026. >> All right. Um, and in Miss in Miss Jenkins absence tonight, she did call me and she told me that she wouldn't be able to be here tonight, but she asked me to tell let everybody know that she wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy happy new year. >> All right, with that being said, and can we all just keep
066u Mrs. Christie, yes, Edmunds, keep her and her family in prayer. >> Yes, definitely. class and class. >> All right. It's a lot going on. >> Life is life. >> But y'all know who's in charge. >> That being said, let us adjourn. All All hearts and minds are clear. Make a motion to adjurnn. Make can I get a motion to adjurnn? >> Motion to adjurnn. >> Is there a second? >> Second. >> Okay. It's been a motion and properly second to adjourn. Are there any questions? All those in favor say I. >> I. >> Any opposed? I have it. most.
