the coaches here tonight um coaches have a huge impact on a young person's life um at a time in most of the students lives where they are hardpressed to listen to what their parents are advising them oftentimes their High School coach uh can have a profound impact not only in athletics but also in dealing with issues off the field um these coaches here tonight have created a positive culture that breeds success um collectively Athletics at dgn may be at an all-time high and I I don't think it's h hyperbola to to make that statement uh the coaches in this room tonight play an outsized role in that success and I'd like to give a round of applause to acknowledge their achievements but tonight is about the teams and individual students being recognized here tonight uh

they achieve achievements are amazing um the Board of Education and and administration would like to take the time to recognize each and every one of these teams achievements as well as the individuals being honored here tonight uh to Jack who I know cannot be here tonight who will be taking his talents to Princeton next season on behalf of the community who you and your teammates have captivated over the past two years I wanted to extend a sincere thank you for all of the memories that you have made for all of us in the community uh celebrating your and your team's achievements have been truly so much fun over the past two years so thank you so much Jack um to kale and his teammates on the dgn football team kale who who is already taking

his talents to the Iowa State uh football team I also wanted to thank him and all of his teammates on behalf of the community as well uh the run you and your team had to the state championship was so exciting and also was a rallying point for the community seeing all the dgn flags in downtown downers Grove during your playoff run was inspiring we wish you all the best with Coach Campbell kale and the Cyclones next season and Beyond so congratulations to Gian and Emily um we're so proud of your achievements and the continued success that you and your teammates have demonstrated for the dgn swimming program Giana we wish you all the best as you take your talents to Champagne next season [Applause] to Lily Sarah Elena and Ava you've brought the girls cross

country and track and field teams to new heights um your accomplishments at the state Regional and National Cross Country meets were the Talk of the Town uh you should be extremely proud of your achievements and all we and we all look forward to what this team can do next year um although she probably won't like this there's one student who I'd like to single out tonight um and it's not my daughter um Sarah Paul um if you could just wave to the crowd please thank you Sarah um Sarah's an amazing CrossCountry Runner she finished 13th at this year's girls cross country meet and she happens to be one of the best MERS in the state in this year in track but that's really not the most amazing thing about Sarah Sarah lished all of this

with asthma um as you can imagine being this successful at running with asthma takes an awful lot of grit and willpower but that isn't the most amazing thing about Sarah in addition to her athletic prowess she excels in the classroom like Jack she will also be competing in the ivy league next year as she takes her running talents to Brown University but that still may not be the most amazing thing about Sarah on top of all of these achievements she truly is an amazing artist artist and has been recognized as such Sarah whatever you end up doing after Brown I hope you still find time to draw because your talent is undeniable so thank you sah um while Sarah's story is incredible um she isn't the only one here with an amazing story many of

the students here tonight and a part of these teams have similar stories that is the point and purpose of tonight to celebrate at their these amazing student athletes their uniqueness and their fantastic achievements to each of the students here tonight I also want you to know the that the success that you have achieved will have and has had a profound impact on the next generation of dgn student athletes as I sat in the stands for basketball games at dgn I heard six and seven year old boys scream we love Jack I you know at at at the downers girl football games I watch Panthers players stand on the sideline lines throwing footballs following every aspect of the dgn football team as they soar as they soar to new heights inspiring the dreams of future dgn

football players and what they can dare to achieve GI and Emily have had the same impact on young swimmers in our community Lily Sarah Ava Elena McKenzie Audrey cydney pvy and Hannah you've all inspired young girls in our community to want to run cross country the success that you all the successes that all of you here tonight have achieved achieved goes beyond yourselves you should be proud of the impact that you've had on your community on behalf of the board and administration we wanted you to know how proud We Are of each one of you here tonight and how proud the community is of each of your achievements to the seniors here tonight wish we wish you all the best in your next Endeavors and for those returning to your sports next year at dgn
