I'd like to call to order this meeting of the Hampton School Board. Please rise for the pledge of allegiance. >> I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> All right. Thank you everybody. So, I think we're going to let Dr. Costa kick us off. We had a couple things. We were going to talk about the calendar a little bit. So, I'm going to turn it over to you. >> Sure. I'll start and then you want to jump in and talk about some of the drivers and Sure. Okay. All right. So, um one of the first pages of of our budget book is about the school calendar and people have been asking
for drafts of our calendar for the 26 27th school year. Right now, um there was a bill at the legislative session that they're looking to start school potentially after Labor Day next year. So, we're waiting to see if there's a decision by the state. We would obviously be following any state recommendations. We also would want to be in line with SAU 21 as our students go to high school there and that would be in line with our career and tech center or the Ski Co School of Technology. So, there are many things that are in play before we can determine what the calendar will look like for next year. Just something to be aware of is that this year Labor Day was as early as it could be and unfortunately next year is as late
as it could be. So if we were to start when we typically would, it would be September 1st. Labor Day is on September 7th. So if we start after Labor Day, our start would be September 8th, which means that we probably would not get out of school, this is barring any snow days, until late June. So we're looking at June June 23rd 24th is the last day depending on what we do on Junth. So this is just something for our folks at home to be thinking about. Um and then of course if there was snow days we're looking at the last week of June. So just something for us to think about. Um not that you know we can certainly work with whatever we decide. So we will need to approve a calendar regardless of
what the state does and then if it changes we would need to change it in theory or we would need to make it that after September date cuz they so if you think about the the way it flows right they typically she didn't sign bills until June last year >> and it would be I assume they would make it effective you know for the upcoming school year, but I mean I don't think we want to wait and try to put a a calendar together in late May, early June. >> Well, my >> I don't know what to do, but >> my recommendation is the state will come up with a calendar and I think we should follow the state recommended calendar because that's more than likely the CTC's will follow our career tech center. So,
the seco school of technology and that would be what kind would follow. So, we did call um Rhonda Evans today at SAU21 and she said they don't expect to have calendar until the winter. So, probably January, February. Um so, what what I would say is that we can have this as a placeholder if you want. Um and then we would revisit this obviously when we have more information from the state and from SAU 21. Is that >> Y that be okay? >> I think we were approved last year's in March. Yeah, I think it was later on. Yeah. >> So, just to be aware of that. >> Yeah. >> Um, we have worked with our leadership team on this budget going page by page um building a budget starting at zero. Um, 80% of the
budget is personnel. So, some of the things have already been decided for us because the voters last year approved a three-year contract for professional sta staff, which is our collective bargaining agreement, and a 4-year agreement for SESPA or our our support staff. So, those would automatically be included in our default budget. So, those raises are automatically included. Um, we obviously have been watching what's going on with insurance for those that haven't been following the state. Um, one of the things is that insurance rates have been very unpredictable. Um, some districts were facing some shortfalls. Knock on wood that that was not our district. Um, it's not to say that it wouldn't ever happen, but it did not happen. Um, we were not impacted by it. Um, we are looking at an in a modest increase
to our rates, but that's also a driver for us. um as we prepare this budget. >> Ryan, what something you want to add? >> Yeah. So, um I just go through the information real quickly just so that you have some information. I did a draft warrant article already for you. It's just we're looking at um three warrant articles this year. The first is the budget. The second is um the uh maintenance plan. We're looking to um bring that up and we can talk on that later. Um, and then I did speak to Sacred Heart and they do plan on doing a um, petition. So, that would be our three more articles that we'd have to um, discuss. There's only one um, board member this year. Um, and no other um, board members that we need
to put in their trend or anything. We did that last year. So, that's good. Um >> the one board member up for re-election >> Up for re-election. Yep. >> Um in the contents we have you saw the calendars, the draft goals, the breakdown of number of students in the past, um average um class size, average cost per student, which was two years ago because it takes a year to put that in. so that you have some of that information. Um, I just like to give you way too much. Um, and then we go into salary information and the first section is the teacher salary schedule and that was LA this year's that we're gone now and um what is in their agreement for next year. It was a 6.1% increase plus depth. Um, and then
from there it has all of the teacher um, positions and where they'd be next year so that I could come up with what the budget would be for teacher salaries. That does not mean that it doesn't change. I try to get as much information of if they're going to go move up to a master's or 15 or 30 years. Um, but it is best of your ability. Um and then the next section is the paras and the paras um their salary rate by hours and by salary um they were 5% increase and then it the non-UN employees and I kind of took all of the positions and did a couple rates um but then we can talk on that on what was done for each section once we get to the non-UN employees, but it's
just a breakdown of um suggested items and how we looked at it and how we came up with it. Um and a guesstimated salary schedule for all non-union employees and the longevity for the district and then um contract terms. um last this year was the last year of a three-year term. So, we got to talk about that at some point. Um and then the August um consumer price index, which um everybody's guessing that in October it's going to be 3.2, but averely it's 3.3 3.1. um and then goes into the budget. So, just a bunch of information at the beginning just so you can go through it. Um it's extra information before we really kind of break it down. Um Mariah, as we were looking at um going page by page, page by page and
what do you want to give them where we kind of landed just just so that they have an idea of how we landed with the fall? >> Yes. So um if you go into the summary tab, this breaks it down by account line item, but also by my functions. So, regular ed, special ed, um, extracurricular, these are what we'll be looking at for the tabs in the accounts. But if you go to the very last page of that summary, it's going to show you that our adopted budget this year, what the default change um is, which is 3.92% and then the proposed which is 1.10 which is um 5. >> I have 5.02. >> Yes. Um, >> so is that in >> I'll have to look at that. That might not have Yeah. >> Okay.
>> It might not have We might need >> might have to change that. Yeah. All right. Um, >> you think it's 3.92? >> Is that what you said? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> This one I was >> I think you we added we thought >> we added something. We thought we thought the insurance was going to be higher than it was >> and I went back and changed it >> which is a good thing. So I I do think you're right. I think it >> I think it went down. It did. I will look at it. >> We think it's it's 3.92 >> here. Let me pull >> which would be the default >> and then with everything it would be a one point >> just one over 1% for proposed. >> Yeah. So, and
really if you take teacher um agreements and the par agreements which is six and 5% and then our health insurance which is 3% I think we're right in that 3.9 who stands to reason, >> right? >> Yeah. >> So, >> yeah. So, you've got health insurance in it 10%. >> Yeah. >> That was some um >> Is that with the old one? >> Your guest guess? >> Yes. with the old one with the changes the Yeah. And then proposed is with the few positions going >> when we get to that. So 2900 we'll just have to make sure. >> Yep. Nope. I'll >> So we won't get to that for a while. >> We won't get to that and I'm sure there's going to be changes before we even get to that. >> Yep. >>
So yeah, I'll add that to Yeah. We're looking at about a 1% over default. Um but we'll talk about why it's 1%. >> So 1% over default and a little under four. Yeah. for the Okay. >> Yeah. >> All right. That's not That's not bad. >> Yeah. >> Have you guys heard anything from the town manager on I've heard what they are shooting for, but have you gotten any numbers from it? >> No, but I know he's been from what I've heard, people have been encouraged kind of flat budget, but this is I mean pretty much as flat as we This is I looked through the whole thing. It's pretty lean. >> Yeah. Yeah, it is lean. Um, >> but we'll talk about >> It was very thoughtful where we added and very thoughtful where
we took away. >> Um, but we obviously want to hear what you have to say. Is there something we're forgetting? um that >> but we did um go through this line by line with all of the administrators sitting here and you know um so technology might have gone up in something and you know curriculum went down because it's now those kinds of things right we really looked at and talked about and trying to >> um be mindful of you know cost of living the fact that you know there are some families that are struggling right now with food prices and everything else and what's going on in our world. So just trying to be um cognizant of taxpayers and trying to keep it really as as flat as we could. >> We did add three
positions. Um it their ADA texts so that we have seven at center and seven at Marston given the >> is that related to like the the you guys were going to do an audit of or maybe Dena was the one who was actually going to do it an audit of our special ed services basically. >> Um that got started. I don't know if it got completed. >> I mean we have a new person position. So yeah I just wondered if this was >> you've got these you've got these specialized programs right? That's what the so yeah staffing it's staffing those specialized program with the neck program now here at Marsden the neck program at um center and obviously the specialized program that we have at Hampton Academy with the inspire program and the experiential program.
So you want to make sure you have um these behavior technicians that can really support these kids who have significant needs. So that's why >> they'll be full next year in both center and >> Marston >> and Marston. So we want to try to get those in so that we can keep them in house. >> Awesome. >> Yeah. So that that was what we added, but you can see it wasn't >> Yeah. >> and we've adjusted in other areas. >> Great. We did. So >> So those are like the big ones. >> Those are the big Yeah. >> And those are the big conversations we had. Um >> I don't know. Does anybody want to weigh in or questions, comments? Is your thinking thinking about you? Okay. So what did you what was decided about
the substitute situation? >> We we we don't have the money to move forward. So they would there would not be a floating sub at center marksman unless we were going to add a position and it's expensive to add positions. So it's kind of like we we talk about what's nice versus what's necessary and we said it would be nice but it's not necessary and given the economic times we're going for what's necessary. And so the plan would be if you don't have enough subs, you will start asking teachers. So, so here's the thing. Um, Center and Marsden, when people sign up to sub, they mostly want to sub with the younger kids with Center and Marsden. and we've been talking about it to the point where um where do we which is why we put
the a building base sub at Hampton Academy and we've got somebody doing it but we're also talking about do we bump up the pay at Hampton Academy we're even thinking about that you know we're not talking a big bump >> but just at the academy so it's enticing right >> it might entice people to give it a try make a little more money >> I I feel like subbing for the older is like way less exhausting. But you can't >> it's a mindset for people me >> kindergarten with >> kindergarten and stuff. >> So that's so so what so it's really about the middle school a lot of it. Um, and so working through that, um, it's tough because there's there's not, um, the subless that we've had in the past. You know, we're trying
to recruit kids that have graduated from college and, you know, people we run into and, you know, we I kind of joke about it. You know, oh, they're home. Why don't they stop for a couple days a week? Well, next thing you know, they're signing up. Oh, you're down here. Dr. Cross said, "Thanks a lot." I'm like, "Glad you're here. come on in. Let's just get this done. We'll get you on. And so we are getting like some former students that are coming back to sub because they haven't found a job. It's a great income thing >> and and it's really all all cart. So you basically right you can sign up when your schedule allows you to and if you have an interview, you don't have to come in that day. You know, you
can take that day off. And so there is a lot of flexibility um for people that need the flexibility. Um, and for kids just that when I say kids, I'm talking about 22, 23 year olds that have graduated and are not sure what they want to do next. It's kind of a great little, right? It's a great little hint from Stomping Ground for them. >> So, we'll keep we we keep at it, right? >> All right. If you guys don't have anything else, I thought we could start. All right. All right. So, here's what here's the way it works. So, we're going to start on tab 1100. So you're going to find that tab. The first page is your summary. All right. And we're going to go through each of these pages is a line
item. So we're going to start with classroom teacher salaries which is as we said is easy because we have a contract. So um for each page I'm going to need one person to move it, another person to second it. We can all take turns. if you are super into something and you feel free to have that be your thing. Um, and then we all vote on it and we do that for every single day. So, we'll jump around a little bit, but we're going to start start at the beginning. >> And I'll what I'll do is obviously Mariah takes notes. Um, I'll take notes and then any that we want to come back to, I'll flag it so that we can come back to it, you know, at a later time if >> we usually
skip special ed. >> Yeah. And we have usually Dina come in for special ed. Um we can have people come in if you want them to as well to explain things. Right. >> All right. We ready to get started. >> Let's do it. Do it. >> All right. So we are starting with 1100-2 which is classroom teacher salaries for all three schools. So when you move it you will need to move um if you look under board proposed. So the subtotal so 7,427,572 for example would be the amount that that we would need to move on this just so you guys have have an idea. >> So you would make a motion to approve the board proposed and then you give the figure. >> Yes. So I make a motion to move 7,427,572 um the
for the salary classroom teachers. Do I have a second? >> You guys write down anybody. They all said it. Just a good one. Okay. Um all right. Do we have any questions or any discussion? Seeing none, all in favor? Okay. All right, next page 1100-3. These are the kindergarten paras. Um, this will be for $197,89. >> I'll move that we approve $197,89 for the kindergarten power professional salaries. I'll second. All right, >> this is good. Uh, all in favor? >> Mariah, is this one that um we need is there one that we need to talk about? Cuz you brought up a question about special ed. >> Okay. All right. >> Okay. So, we have tutors. Tutors aren't in the contractor, are they? >> Oh, yeah. See? Yes, that's fine. >> Y >> Okay. So, we've
got $6,300 for regular ed tutors. 1100-4. Um here, I'll move that one. I'll second. >> All right. All in favor? All right. Okay. And we have subs. So, this will be our first one. Sounds like we want to stop and talk about. So, for right this minute, right this minute, nothing has changed for information. >> So, we have subs paid 1714 per hour, daily total of 120. Um, long-term subs, sub nurses are a little different. Pair professionals are 15 an hour. Um, so you guys want to talk about changing the academy one. Do you want to ask us to do that? It sounded like you wanted to to to look at changing the subpay academy. >> Do we want to do that now >> or do you want We can put a pen in the
whole page. >> I think we should. >> Okay. because you can see it's really well below y >> the actual what we've spent, right? >> So, >> she just wants to know if we want to change the verbiage about putting the academy at a higher rate. >> We would need to change the verbiage and we would need to change the the the line >> the policy, too. >> Yeah. >> I I have a I think I have a problem with just doing it for the academy. >> If you're going to change the subpay, >> you should change the sub pay for everybody, shouldn't you? >> Do we know what what's SA21? Do we know at this point? I think we're close. >> Yeah, but >> because I and we're pretty much close to anybody around
the area right now. >> Do we think that the reason we're not getting subs is because of or do we think we're just not getting subs? >> We're just putting the rate up every year. >> I think it's both. I think it's both. Okay. >> I've heard >> again I'm in that area. So, right. >> I hear people say that >> it's not paying enough to go in and do it. >> Yes. Andrew, what did they pay at SAU? 20 minutes. We can go to the source here. Do you know? >> I'll be awful. I should I think it's >> Do you know if it's around the same? >> It's I think it's a third of a day. >> Let's Let's do this. Let's Let's Yeah, let's check SA 21. >> I know. Like over
in um like Kensington, Kingston like that. They're paying 160. >> I think Timberland is 150. Yeah. Oh gosh. Below >> what? So >> I feel like it is getting looked at and drop in like >> at least that's what I'm seeing in hospitality. >> Yeah, it's shocking. >> Let's put it in. >> Let's come back. >> I'm okay with that. >> Let's do that. >> Again, I guess I just feel like I understand what you're saying, but I really feel like if we're going to put increase the subpay, we should increase it for everybody. I agree because I get worried about the implications on like the teacher contracts like >> and not that it not that it has an actual implication but then like the teachers coming to the table saying why are we >>
you know >> yeah and if you're thinking of doing um where you're asking teachers to let's say take a planning period and cover a class or whatever again you've got the high school that pays sub pays teachers >> we pay more than what they pay you look into that today. That was >> for teachers. >> Yes. >> To cover the classes. Okay. >> They're paying 29 and something. We're paying 30. >> Are they >> They're paying 29. >> Are people actually Are people actually doing it? Are people choosing to do that? >> Yeah. >> Yes. >> I didn't realize that you were doing that. I >> Yep. >> Well, because they're doing it for their colleagues, right? >> Yeah, that's fair. >> And for the kids, right? Well, of course they're doing it for >>
better to have a teacher in the class than to have everybody in the gym >> for an hour or the cafeteria for an hour. >> 100%. >> Yeah. >> But you're not afraid comes to shove. You're not afraid to send a couple of classes to, let's say, the library. >> I'm not afraid of doing it. I don't think it should be a practice. It should be the exception, not the norm. Right. I do feel that that um it's just I worry that that's not best practice obviously. >> And I agree with you. >> Yeah. If there's an emergency, that's one thing. >> I think they are utilizing the library for like one class, not multiple classes. >> So, they do that because there is no classes in there. So, I think they do utilize it
>> when they need to for sure. >> Okay. >> But I don't think it's multiple classes. It's usually one class at a time. >> Y >> and how much are we paying teachers to cover a class? >> It's $30 um during their planning time. >> Well, not quite yet. The MOA, >> it's in conversation. >> MOA last year ended. We're rewriting it now. >> Yes. >> So, plan, let's say this current school year, are teachers being paid to cover class if they choose to give up their planning period to do that? Once the MOA is completed, they would they would be they would be volunteers like you could have that option to volunteer to cuz remember the Hampton Academy gets two planning periods a day. One is their personal planning and one is their CPT.
So they can give up their personal planning period to cover a classroom and they would get paid the additional $30. Um and that's what I see that's what many districts are doing. Um and you it's easier to do it at a middle school because it's by core classes etc etc right it's a lot harder to do it here right at Marson or center >> but that offer is here for center and Marson as well >> it is yeah it's an MOA for the collective bargaining agreement so it's everybody yeah >> okay all professional staff and it also includes Paris >> right >> well parents already have their own they've had their own in their their agreement >> yeah I didn't know that I just teach. >> Yeah, that was um several years ago, I think.
Um Andrew Wallace, >> right? >> Yeah. And I worked on that. I guess I just didn't know that it had gone through it. I I don't know why I didn't know that, but >> Yeah. >> Great. All right. 1100-6. Pretty simple one. This is basically paying maintenance on the laminators in each building. So, we got $1,437, which is a small increase based on it looks like based on the contract. >> I'll make a motion for $1,437 for repair and maintenance. >> Second. All right. All in favor? All right. We've got rental and leasing of copers, postage meter. Um, that's it. copier and postage meter. So, let's We are flat on that. So, it's an easy one. $70,000 to go up about $6,000. >> Um, so we've we've kept it at 60. We've been fluctuated because
we just finished getting rid of Kanuka and now completely have Canon. We also did this year started a new process where um you can't just print, you have to tag. Like you can print all day and then you go up and you tag it because >> we're trying to save paper, save money, save time, >> printing, ink, whatever. So, um >> this next year might go down depending on now that we have all cannons, now that we have but we're keeping it the same. The other thing is the postage machines. um that we have are out of date um and they're going to expire. We just got a new one at the SAU office. The other three are going to have to get replaced and I don't know what that cost is going to be
exactly. So, I figured it would leave it flat. It um it'll give me >> that little wiggle room for the the machines. >> So, that's for $70,000. Anybody like to move that? >> I'll make a motion to $7,000. I'll second that. Excuse me. All in favor? Sorry, some water went down the wrong way. And now I can't get over it. All right. And we're still We have a placeholder in school choice tuition expense. This is um has to be done by law. >> Okay. We do not have to put money into it. Um >> but we need to have it before. So is if school choice goes through >> so it's open enrollment basically >> open enrollment and we have to pay for kids to go to other >> kids to go to other school
we have to have an expense there >> um but by law we have to at least have the account so I stuck the account in >> a motion to move a dollar okay motion to move one second okay >> thank you all in favor All right. Spies. Oh, we went down. >> Yep. >> It's one of the spots we're we're cutting. >> Yep. Sure. >> So, last year we had the math program in there. >> Yep. >> Um Oh, okay. >> Right. So, you'll see two places go down. The supplies and instructional books u that both had math the math program in there. Um it is as of this year paid for 3 years. The only thing that will go up is the the >> subscription for it and that will be in the tech
line. >> Okay. >> All right. Make a motion for 79,770 for supplies. >> Second. All >> in favor. >> All right. I assume that's kind of the same thing with the textbook. Yep. That's great. All right. So, we're looking for 27,250 there. Somebody like to move that. >> I'll make a motion for $27,250. All right. Second. Okay. All there. All right. Periodicals. That looks pretty flat. Scholastic views. Scholastic art. Okay. >> Mhm. >> It went up 100. Make a motion to 3,100 for other instructional printed materials. Second in favor instructional software and online resources which stay flat. All right. So we're looking for $48,100. Motion to move $48,100 for instructional software and online resources. Done. All right. Second. Okay. All in favor equipment. Oh, music instructional materials. PE equipment replacement music replacement instruments. Okay. And
that's flat at $4,000. I'll make a motion for $4,000 for equipment. Okay. Second. All in favor? Okay. All right. Connected services. Okay. So, aiology and OT. So, this is over and above. I mean, we have we have an aologist. >> We That's all. >> Yeah. But this is for 504. >> Okay. Yeah. A little different. It's fine. I was just curious. And looks like we went down a little bit. >> 3,000. Yep. Okay. Um, so we're looking for $5,130. Motion to move $5,130 for contract services. >> All right. I'll second. >> Okay. Thank you. All in favor? Okay. >> All right. We have supplies, supplies, and material to support the 504 plan. Gotcha. For $5,500. Do I have a motion? >> I'll make a motion. 5,500 for 2002 section 504 second in favor. All right,
we are done with the section. All righty. We are going to Anybody needs a break? We're going to do 1,200. So the very next tab that one. >> Y. So we'll put we'll put a pin in this one. I'm going to >> come back to this when we'll ask next time. >> Sure. >> All right. >> We're doing we're doing every correct every week. >> Okay. So, to 1400. >> Yep. >> Oh, extra perkiller. Okay. So, 1400. >> This is So this first one is all contracted, right? Correct. >> All contracted. Yep. >> Except for is Did we take out this is all contracted? >> Yep. >> So >> okay. 53,213. >> Motion to move $53,213 for salaries, coaches, and advisory statements. >> Second. >> Yep. So Sarah for sorry. Did you have a question?
I just didn't know I had to abain from this coach. Doesn't matter. So, >> you're so ethical. >> Pretty sure you don't. >> And again, we can if need be, >> for instance, wrestling coach. If we don't have that, we can use my if my big thing is a concern for extra track. So we have to have a meeting with the there's >> agree right it's a change to >> but they I think we wrote in that that was something >> didn't we negotiate that in that >> we had two meetings a year yes that they could have been that okay all right I thought it had been negotiated kind of already >> because we've got this wrestling coach in here and I it's been at least two or three years since we've had wrestling
>> not until you open your CBA PA. So, it stays as is, but they we can definitely like repurpose the money. >> Yeah. >> Okay. As long as that can be done. >> All right. So, good. Bless. Bless you. All in favor? Coach since I did it. >> Well, that's why they can't. >> You could do it again. And >> isn't it just Is it just a lack of a coach or a lack of interest? >> Both. >> Yeah. Cool. >> It is interesting. They do it for high school >> and they did a great program put it on last year and a lot of kids went and they were like, >> you know, let's do it. >> I think it I think it would make a comeback. >> Mhm. >> My son is planning
to try it at high school. So >> yeah, we used to have a really good coach when I was like in middle school like he like ran a wrestling gym, >> right? I can't remember. >> Everybody went to Smitties. >> Yeah. >> I went to high school at Smitties. >> Did you? Mhm. >> The younger snake to age myself. All right. So, we have uh salaries for after school activities and that is down by 4,000. >> Does anybody have any questions on that? >> Uh why is it down? Just is there something that got eliminated? Um Marian took some out because they weren't utilizing I don't remember why. No, it was the academy cuz they weren't utilizing um couldn't get as many people to come >> to some of the stuff. >> Yep. >> is
that why we underexpend it >> just because no one Okay. Mhm. >> Motion to move $51,000 for after school activities dollars. >> Just pick one. >> Okay. >> All in favor? >> Yeah. I will say less random, he would just assign it. He'd be like this one. >> Yeah. >> And He didn't even >> We didn't even I was like after my first time I was like yes. Okay. Yeah. Whatever you say. >> Yes, sir. >> All right. Good on that one. Student assemblies. $9,000. That's nice and flat. I'll make motion for $9,000 for student assembly. >> All right. Second. >> Okay. All in favor? All right. funding. Oh, of environmental school tuition. So, we did spend more last year, but we are going to keep it flat. >> Yep. >> Yeah. Okay. Anybody have
any questions about that? >> Is this an area we should talk about the nursing the the cost of the nurse? >> The problem is you can't find a nurse, right? I think I think we can talk about it. It's really about securing a nurse. I think we're just seeing as we're seeing critical shortages in the teaching profession, we are also seeing it in the health profession. Um, so >> finding a nurse, a travel nurse who wants to go go away with the sixth grade group >> to the woods for a week. >> Yeah. >> And I'm assuming we can't compel an onstaff nurse that's probably outside their contract. >> Correct. >> And they just say, "No, thank you." >> Correct. >> And we offer them an additional stipen, I'm assuming. And in spite of that,
it's still a no. >> Yes. >> So that cost would um presumably if we if we don't find one and they go without one, >> which I think was how we left it, >> that cost would come off of if it were the same as last year at the 429. >> Yeah. I I would have to look to see exactly why that was over. That could have been um we paid for more >> Yeah, I think we had more students than last year. It could be more of a nurse. It could be multiple things. This is a small group. Remember, it's a small the eighth grade is only has the five versus the eight. So, it's a smaller group this year. >> And the nursing stipen is somewhere else. >> Yes. >> So, it would
not The answer to her question is no. >> It that nursing stipen does not come out of this. We've got that somewhere else if I remember right. >> Is this information? >> Does this isn't this just tuition? >> You're sorry. She's shaking her head. I can't. >> It's school tuition for the sixth grade. >> Yes. But I I we don't have any place for the nurse cuz >> Oh, okay. I thought there was another one. I'm sorry. >> No, >> we do actually pay. Let's do that. >> Salaries. I'm over here being all >> Hold on one second. Let me tell you exactly what came out of this so you know because I believe salaries come out of this too. >> Where is the stipen for the nurse of a nurse from the school? Where
does that come from? That's what we're declared. It came from somewhere else like >> No, it's not. >> It does not. >> I am in 25. >> If anybody wants to pizza or snacks, feel free to get on chocolate. I found this Sprite in my car and I was like, "Ew, I don't think I like like I can have like a regular soda in a minute. I am like I wish I could refill this so addictive." >> I was a little jealous. I saw it sitting there. Same thing. I almost never have occasionally >> and I saw it. I was like, "Forget the sugar." >> Rolling around in the back of my car. Why not? You're so cozy. >> Now I drink if I drink regular soda. I'm like, "This is so first I was
like the third sip." I was like, "Yes." All right. So, no, we must have stuffed that in a different spot. But this one has the emissions to environmental camp. Um, it has we stuck a para for Washington in here because we had no place to put that. Yep. >> Um and then a scholarship assistant to Washington and um insurance for 8th grade. Um that's probably part of why it's Yeah. So it's like pieces of it that we >> Yeah. >> I'm just curious with with you know with the parent fundraising group that is forming. I know when I when I sat with them in that meeting so that they could use that space um one of the questions they they were struggling with was like what is the actual amount we should be targeting is
that like the 43 less 33 is that the target and I actually talked about that a little bit today and I would like that to come from Neil in a meeting that sort of their projections you know how many kids are like we can hit environmental camp now how many how next month. How many kids went? How much did they end up needing to take out of this which is their budget? Um, and some reports as we get closer because yeah, what what whatever you've got a fundraising group, it's always good to have a goal >> and to have an idea. Do they need to raise $1,000? Do they need to raise $10,000? >> They're going to need need an idea of that. So, >> he said he had it. I did speak with him.
He said Yeah, he did. He said he for us for um November and he would report again in January. He'll do like every other month. >> Every other month >> just to give us where we are. I said just it would be important to touch base with the different groups because I know there are several. >> Yeah. >> So yeah, that's good. >> Okay. All right. So So we've got 33,000 as the proposal. Here I'll I'll move that one. Second. Okay. All in favor? We have looks like sort of various supplies have been kind of stuck in here. We've gone up a little bit about about $3,000. I assume we've added something extra. >> Looks like the intercolastic teams for the um Hampton Academy. >> That's the extra. Okay. >> Well, well, it's $3,000, which
is interesting. So, >> intercolastic. Is that the um the United I mean the the unified teams? >> Yeah, that's >> that's the best. I'll make a motion for 19,275 for supplies including these activities. Second. Okay. All in favor placeholder for extended school year >> required to have it somewhere. >> Yeah. Regular ed. We used to have it. We have special ed now. Yes. >> I'll make a motion for >> That's supposed to be a dollar, right? Yeah. I'll make a motion for a dollar. I'll second it one. All in favor? Same thing. Supplies for extended school year. I'll move that one. A second. All in favor. All right. 20 guidance. Yes. So, we can go to that one. >> First, page two is um teacher salaries. >> So, I don't know if you want it
to skip that or if you want to vote on that. We know what Oh, yeah. We did the first one. That's fine. We're going to vote on that. We got a contract. >> I'll make a motion for 362,183 salary school counselors. I'll second everybody. the same. All in favor of the table nonun hold all non union employees towards the end. >> Oh, so for social work then we can have a discussion about all non union. >> Yep. Yeah. I'll hold it. Please hold that one. >> Um do you want to talk about this one? >> Yeah, let's talk about this one. What is this? >> Sorry. >> Oh, yeah. Go ahead, Lois. This is >> the new new position. >> So, this is a position that we used last year but decided to change the
position. >> Okay. Is there a person in the position? >> Yes, there is. >> Will they continue to be in the position? >> Yes. >> Okay. So um we have been um using Susan Antico who's been helping us and has really been instrumental in our mental health team. Um she's done a she's done some work for us um with the mentors. She's done some work with us on MTSSB with behaviors and really just trying to work with that team. Um we have paid for some of her work with grant money. We are concerned that this grant money, in fact, we don't even have a title two aotment right now. Y >> So, we're very concerned. We thought it would be important to put it in a budget. Okay. >> So, we could um make it
legitimized. >> So, we put we're putting it in I I don't know how many more years Sue is going to do this. >> Say I mean, we're paying her as a contract, right? >> Correct. Yeah. I think she's making $7 an hour. I think >> she she's she I think she >> she's doing it to have something to do. >> She Well, she enjoys it. Loves our school. >> She does. She loves the kids. She loves this. She her heart bleeds mental health, right? I mean, she's just that dedicated and committed. So, she comes in just to come in, you know, and >> uh we see it pretty much almost every day, >> but but she's got but she does amazing work. She's like, you have a question, she's got a good answer or she's
got good insight. So, I think she's been instrumental >> um to the entire mental health team. So, it's been really great. So, we did have Patrice Baker here. That was that position. We're not changing that. We're getting We're doing it for one day instead of two because we really don't know. And we're putting it in title four. >> Yep. >> For anybody who doesn't understand why I'm beating my head against the table. They have SA21 cut her. >> She's hugely important to our >> Did did um Did they was last I heard? I don't know if they cut it or they cut it out. We have her still for a day, >> but we have her only under the SA21 contract. That's that is the problem. That's the problem, too. >> But we will continue
to support this as long as it's because it's really part of their she gets 80% and 20%. So, do you see what I'm saying? Yeah, I would check with Dina and just see if she knows cuz I feel like Dina would be >> Well, Dena had the last we talked about we were going to leave her in the grant for that. >> Yeah. >> The day that we have her in the grant >> and utilize her for that. We we feel that we could get what we need from her from that. If we cut her to one day and they cut her also, I think we'll probably lose her. >> I think that would have happened anyways. >> Yeah. >> You know, cuz we can't we really can't use her 80%. >> Yeah. Mhm. >>
I mean, we can use her one day. >> Um, we we're hoping that the relationship stays intact. She's doing a lot >> with Hatch. I know they had their organizational meeting. >> Um, I know that she's done some great things, but we really had to again, what's nice versus what's necessary >> and we really are trying to get this MPSS. >> Yep. Yeah. This was I mean, we did probably talk a half hour on it. Yeah, >> we should double We should double check with I would say check with Meredith and see what they're planning for next year. >> I double knew that. Yep. >> Yeah. And this Yeah. >> And we should vote on the MHT. >> I'll make a motion for 23,000 for MHT MT MTS coordinator. >> Second. >> Um I'll second
that. >> No. >> Oh, Sarah. I didn't I didn't hear. >> All right. All in favor? >> Thank you. >> Um related to that. Did we already put in the psychologist at Marc? >> Yeah. >> Never mind. All right. Uh supplies for the guidance office. $1,800. I'll make a motion for $1,800 for supplies for guidance. >> Second. All in favor? >> All right. 2130 is salaries for health services including >> Yep. All right. So, first page is contract. So, 330,258. >> Sorry. I have a motion to move 300 $330,258 for salaried school nurses. >> Okay, I'll second. >> All in favor? Thank you. We no longer have health aid, so we just have a placeholder for a dollar in 2130-3. >> Yep. >> Right. Motion to placehold $1 for health aid salaries. >> Y second.
>> All in favor? Right. Uh same thing. Placeholder for nurse assistant. >> A motion to hold $1 in place for nurse assistance only. I'll second that. All in favor? 1736 for a cell phone. Let's see. Couple things. Cell phone and for for one of the nurses, all three of their one. Okay. >> And then the employment exams at Kingdom. That's if um employees, new hires come in >> and they don't have insurance. We cover them to get their exam. >> They have to have to Yeah, >> makes sense. >> All right. 736. We cut that one a little, but nothing crazy. >> Nope. That's just the cell phone went down. >> Yep. Motion to move $1,736 for contracted health services. Okay. >> I'll second. >> All in favor? Uh contract for repair maintenance on the
audometer and defibrillators. 825. Motion to rule 825 for repair and maintenance. Okay. Second. >> See, this is how we do it. Sides of the table. >> All in favor. Oil machine. >> All right. We have supplies for the health office. That was important. $5,600. I'll make a motion for 5,600. Supplies. All right. All in favor? This is also my annual budget for bandaid. >> All right. >> This is where we get the school psychology >> 2146. >> Yeah. >> There's one. >> So this is all three of them together. Correct. >> Mhm. >> Can we can Oh, I see. Can we continue to include the one in >> Yes, because they did not pass that law. >> Oh, >> it was um Okay, >> good news. >> Uh vetoed. It was vetoed. >> Okay. >>
Um however, >> they could unveeto that and pass it again at the end of October, but we won't know. >> Okay. All right. >> Um and if that's the case, I could actually take this money and put it in services instead. That's what it >> but we had the discussion and we would rather have it as a position if we can get it. >> Are we still actively recruiting? >> We are. >> Yeah. >> Yep. Full-time psychologist at Hampton Academy >> and the law the law was was that was proposed was basically you can't leave something unfilled in the budget forever >> and eventually you have you would have to move it out. I thought we had hit that. But >> what would happen if we had to if that if that theoretically happened and
we had to remove that? It would be really hard to get that position back, right? >> Um the I think the >> Well, we'd have to do like we're doing with positions, we have to bring it, have you guys vote on it, >> and then if it's during budget season cuz if it's during the school season and we have the money and we're going to repurpose it, you'd have to vote on it and that's fine. But when during budget season, we bring it to the um budget committee too with a list of all new hires so that they they're aware. We don't just like >> would it throw it in there? >> I guess what would it artificially bloat our increase over default? Like if we had to remove it and then say put it
in the budget again and say we want this. >> I think you're saying you would just move the money, >> right? So what there so we could move it because we have contracted service right now. So, it still be in default in contracted services. If we didn't have a contract, then it would have to be a proposed as contracted services. Um, if we took it out this year because we couldn't get it and we wanted to to make the budget lighter, then when we put it in next year, it would have to go as proposed. So, it would be that, right? >> Okay. >> Interestingly enough, contracted services are actually more than >> what we're paying. So that's why we want to try to keep it here and not move it over. >> I know
there's that too, right? >> Two days a week and it's more than full time. >> That's crazy. >> Yeah. >> Was so good. >> I know, right? But I know >> everybody retires eventually. I know. >> I know. This masterman >> is there a long time. >> I used to go talk to him when I was a parent just to talk to him. >> Wise wise man. Yeah. >> It did go down. >> Yep. Was that based on one of the new adjustments this year? >> Okay. All right. >> All right. So, $253,59 for psychologist salary. >> I move Oh, go ahead. >> No, it's your turn. >> I move $253,59 uh for salary psychologist. >> I'll second the nuisance. >> All right. All in favor? All right. Then we do have some contracted services
down at the bottom. Y >> for 2,000. That's not the full contracted services though. >> No. >> Okay. >> The random $2,000. >> Um this is for consulting if um out out of district if we needed to. Okay. All right. Yep. >> Gotcha. Okay. >> I move to or motion to move $2,000 for professional services psychology. >> A second. All right. All in favor? All right. Speech and language pathologist. That's under contract. $241,790 for $241,790 for sellers speech and language pathologist. I'll second and we did go up on that. Same thing was that we replaced somebody this year, right? No. So, we just have somebody who Oh, with more experience. >> Well, no, it went up because I mean the contracts went up 6%. >> Okay. >> Um and and could be more because it's
plus debt. Yeah. >> So, it's six 6% plus depth. So, it could technically be 8 to 9%. Gotcha. >> Okay. All in favor? >> That's exactly what it was. Gotcha. If you look at the map, if you look at the map, right? >> Yep. >> Um, speech and language assistant there. Are they non non? >> Um, yes. We should >> And you can see that kind of broken down on us. >> Yeah. Make a motion for 40,000. >> We're actually going to tag that one and talk about them >> all at once. >> Okay. Um, so we can do the next page though, which is contracted services for speech and language pathology for $20,000. I'll make a motion for 20,000 for speech and language. Second, professional services. All in favor, for aiology services. I'll move
$2,600 for uh aiology. Yet. All right. All in favor? Okay. Now we have the PT salaries and the contracted. >> Yep. Right. >> She is um half a position. Okay. >> I'll make a motion for 44,869 for PT. Second. All in favor? All right. and placeholder for contracted services. I assume we just haven't needed that place. >> We because we we >> have this he hired a position. Yeah. Okay. >> Motion to hold the dollar as a placeholder for professional services physical therapy. >> I'll second all in favor. >> All right. Occupational therapist salaries. Um, >> so there is a um two teacher contracts and one kod which is non-union in here. So we may want to hold this one. >> It's coded. >> Um, >> certified occupational therapy assistant. >> Assistant. Assistant. Gotcha. So
we'll just put a pin in the whole thing. In the whole Yeah. >> Right. And so we can do contracted services down at the bottom of the page for 15,000 for occupational therapy. >> Move $15,000 for occupational therapy. >> Second. All in favor. All right, we are blowing through this. Um, so 7:36. Does anybody need a break? No. All right, let's keep going. 2210. Most of this or a lot of this is under the under the contract, too, right? >> No. >> So, this is not Well, it is. They get $2,000 per their contract a year for graduate courses. >> It could go we kind of choose to Yeah, it can fluctuate depending on if there's >> CAGS groups that are going on or if there's a lot of people coming up that um need
to be certified and they're trying to get their credits in for that. So, it can go up and down. Okay. I'll make a motion for 45,000 for tuition reimbursement. >> Second. All in favor? All right. Testing. Oh, the testing materials basically for STAR. >> Those are the formative assessments. >> Okay. Gotcha. >> Yeah. >> And do you know why it went up so much last year? Um I we were testing um weren't we testing last year? >> Well, it was it went it's was 20 the actual was 237. >> Yeah. No, take a look. >> I'm just specific. >> I'm not super worried about it. You don't know the top. >> I'm wondering what if we might have >> Well, we could have stuck if we were testing something in there. >> Something special have
anything to do with >> with math. We were testing math. That's kind of Yeah, >> let's take a look. >> I'm wondering if Aadian is was in there last year and now it's in with Tim Smith's stuff. The Acadius math or the >> Yeah, I'm trying to remember what the presentation showed for the testing scores when Mark which I spoke. I feel like there was something >> it was at center school. So there you go. Um, we had, >> let's see, Dibbles was in there, which was close to 3,7,500 for um, a boost reading site license. >> Um, for and I think that might have been >> and they moved that to a >> and it was for one year. Gotcha. And they Yeah. Dibble was not being used at center. >> Yeah. Okay. And
then the rest was star reading math. >> Okay. >> Um star platform. >> All right. >> So you'll see sometimes um we try to put them in the best spot possible, but sometimes you'll see some accounts higher than and others lower. And we really try to make sure it's right. But you will you'll see some of that sometimes especially um it is a at the end of the day it's a bottom line based budget. So we try to put them in the um we try to utilize exactly what we are asking for but sometimes we may not need that supply but we could really use this and what I try to do is put it in the account that it should go in even though our budget may not be so that we have that
>> balanced out by yeah >> motion to move $6,200 for testing >> and I'll Okay. >> You okay with that? >> Did you say 16 or six? >> Sorry. >> 16. I think I said 16,000. Get her another. >> I really want one. >> I would recommend everyone try it. Try folks at home. Have you tried Sprite lately? >> It's delicious. >> Delicious. Okay. Improve improvement of instructions properly for staff members to attend conferences, workshops, seminars that relevant specifically for instruction instructional programs. So, um we're going to increase that one. >> Yes. due to um science we are bringing. >> You can talk on that. >> Yeah. I So, one of the things that you might have seen last night was the curriculum renewal cycle that we've >> put up over there behind me. We've
kind of we fell off that a little bit when CO happened and >> we need we need to get back on it. So, last year obviously there was the math there's the imple implementation of the math this year. next year we need to spend some time looking at the science standards and um looking at those nextgen um standards because those science scores need some attention too. So if we're going to focus on science I want to make sure we have money in there for curriculum and also money in there if we want to go to the science conference as well. So I said we really need to put the money in there if we're going to do anything with science. I mean to do a a study and to not have any money to support
teachers in instruction. So that's where we just that's where you're seeing a couple of different >> We don't know where title two is and usually title two is helps with some of that professional development. Really don't know where it is. So we should really put it in the budget. >> Yeah. >> So we So we did. >> Yeah. So that's why >> I'll move um I'll move $12,000 uh for workshops and seminars. >> A second. >> All in favor? >> Know where the science conference is this year? next year. Next year, I don't know where it is. There's there will be several options. Anyways, um so we'll look and see what's close, what, you know, if we can send a team. Um if we can if we want to bring somebody in, right? We're kind
of keeping it open. Maybe we'll bring Pal Magnus back, >> right? >> Or Andrew, we'll bring you back. >> I think we should do the Andrew, Sean, and Al. >> There we go. >> Yes. We walked in the other day and Sean was there waving each other down the hall. >> It's like old home day, right? >> So, yeah. So, just wanting to um get back on that and then the following year looking at social studies. We really we got to do that. It's been a long time. >> We had just off topic for a minute. We have civics >> as part of social studies. >> Social studies, correct? >> Yeah. The C3 frameworks which would be part of civics. Okay. Yeah, that's social studies, civics, and math skills, right? >> And there's civic action
as one of the wind blocks also, which is cool. >> How wonderful. Right on. So, >> all right. It is um re >> for $3,000 for workshops and training. I'll make a motion for $3,000 for workshops and service training. >> Second. All right. All in favor? Oh my voice. All right. Sorry. Gum. It's very, very minty. It could like go in right down the back of my throat a little bit. >> Another water. >> Yes. >> I drank all my water. >> It's not a Sprite. >> That's okay. >> But it is a water. You need one? >> I'm okay. Everybody brought through. I made my water bottle. I think it's still sitting on the counter now. >> Thank you. >> You're welcome. >> All right. $5,000 for professional development for kindergarten. It's for um
kindergarten classrooms. It's for This was negotiated in the SESA agreement. So, they get up to $1,000 towards professional development. Um we we haven't had too many people utilize it although >> like it goes up and down. So again, we kind of just tried to guesstimate it and >> can't say no, but >> and that new put too much in either >> did. So there was that new program last year >> where the new class it all kind of >> I just wonder if that >> could have because we were Yeah. >> So yeah. >> Okay. I'll make a motion for 5,000 for the PD for is it specifically for kindergarten powers? It's for all parents. >> Okay. Okay. >> I'm glad to see if that works. >> Um, >> should we change the text? It's
the secret says it's for kindergarten classrooms. So, >> just get rid of >> just teaching assistants or pair professionals, whatever. >> Yeah, we can change it. >> Yeah. >> Okay. All in favor? >> Who's Sarah? Yeah. >> Good. >> Keeping it on that side of the table. >> Exactly. >> All right. >> I find this to be very organized, so I like it a lot. >> Yeah. Um, okay. Curriculum work salaries compensation for curriculum work completed by staff over the summer. Oh, okay. Um, $25,000. >> Yep. >> $25,000 for curriculum work. >> Okay. >> And the mentor program, too. >> Okay. >> Yes. >> All in favor? I did. Gota. >> All right. Curriculum supplies for training, etc. Okay. >> Yep. And then this was extra money with science. >> Gotcha. Okay, that makes sense.
All right. So, two places >> $14,000. >> I'll move $14,000 for curriculum and I'll second. >> All right. All in favor? Okay. And then curriculum books for 4,000. I'll do 4,000 for curriculum books. >> Second. All in favor. Curriculum software looks like it went down a little, which is always good. >> Um, yeah. So the goal is we have um Frontline right now. We're trying to get it so that we can switch it to Vector. >> Um and that was our best guess >> on what that would cost us. Um the goal is to totally right now front line has professional development in it. Um it has uh um >> posting of jobs, >> supervision, >> it's got super evaluation. So the goal is to get a lot of that into I visions wouldn't cost
us anything because we already have the program um HR and this and that. We're just trying to do the back end of it. Um and then Vector would put and would be um professional development half. So all the teachers that are trying to track their stuff for the state to get certified would be there and then it would have their trainings that they need for the year in there. Um but then I visions would have professional development that would track steps. So if they take professional development courses for um to get funded back and or to get their masters plus 15 or 30 or bachelor's plus you know then it would be in I visions. So it there's going to be two places. Um but vector is the one that we want to >> like
PD, right? >> And it's easier to track. And you said I vision is >> I vision you'll see um >> expensive. We already pay for it. >> Oh, that's right. That's right. So it's kind of >> So it's kind of like Yeah. >> Okay. They hose up our payroll and all that. >> Y Okay. that would be under it would fall under our um human resources so that we could uh post jobs through there and then when people apply it goes right into the position and then we can do onboarding electronically. That's the goal. Um we've been working on it. It's just two of us though in the district that does it. So we're a little behind but that our goal is to have that completed. >> Okay. I'll make a motion for 15,000 for
the curriculum software. Second, all in favor. >> All right. And $3,000 for dues and fees in membership in ASCD, Association for Supervision and Curriculum Design. >> Uh motion for $3,000 for dues and fees. And I'll second that. All >> in favor? Let's see. What about 10 minutes left? Let's see if we can do anything a little >> li. >> Yep. >> Three pages. Four pages. >> Yeah. In the media. We can probably get both. >> You guys having fun yet? >> Blast.
