003here uh-huh [Applause] huh alright all right [Music] now foreign [Music] thank you [Music] foreign [Music] oh good of afternoon community high school district 165 board of education for faculty staff and administration at cchs and the class of 2021. it is my privilege to welcome you to our commencement ceremony this afternoon and on national armed forces day i'd like to accept a special welcome all of those serving the u.s military to the parents family members and friends of our graduates we want to sincerely thank you for the love and support that you've provided to these graduates you can be very proud of the fact that these students continue the tradition of excellence long established by the classes which have graduated from carbondale community high school since its inception we'd also like to extend a warm welcome
004to any of our teachers administrators and board members from our elementary school business your efforts have assisted these students in reaching a true milestone in their life and on behalf of cchs we sincerely thank you i'd like to introduce the individuals seated here with me today mr ryan thomas principal of cchs and the members of the district 165 board of education dr dr francis sung will be receiving the class of 2021 mr christopher also we have this krista antrim school counselor for the class of 2021 [Applause] and someone who's put in a great deal [Applause] will be led by the 2021 cchsca teacher of the year michelle thomas and retired teachers sustainability and jim miller [Applause] again the class of 2021 is honored by your presence this afternoon to stare at its most memorable occasion
005would you please rise to contribute to the class of 2021 and remain standing for of life [Music] is i know [Music] good [Music] uh [Music] so [Music] oh [Music] foreign uh [Music] so [Music] so [Music] good [Music] my [Music] good afternoon ladies and gentlemen it is a great day if you are not already standing cuny's rise for the national reason [Music] oh is foreign [Applause] [Music] through the lights [Laughter] the free of [Applause] wow the national anthem was performed by mr matt wilson carbondale community high school class of 2009. we make please street but will participate with the valedictorians in a group speech jack chan evie nathaniel clinton and forward trail please live so we may recognize your outstanding achievement as the class of 2021 selena ford community high school is an extremely competitive academic
006environment at this time i'd like all 42 42 high honor students to please stand and be recognized during their career at cchx one more time for our high honor teams valedictorians to please rise all five of these students have completed eight semesters of their high school career with a 4.44 grade point average the cchs class of 2021 valedictorians are maya macy davis charlie knew the andrew martin and eli congratulations of 2041. good afternoon families friends faculty staff board of education administrators and most of all class of 2021. it seems like just yesterday we walked through the giant city doors for the very first time full of anticipation and excitement but the truth is a lot has happened since then we've had four football seasons four homecoming weeks zero proms and five terrier effects this year
007we lost invaluable time with our classmates and miss out on impactful moments and memories many of us never had the opportunity to forge meaningful connections with our peers and teachers having only memphin and zoom and google needs in a normal year planning our futures whether it's college the workforce or the military is scary enough but this year we were forced to face these challenges while juggling the uncertainties of a turbulent year but through all the ups and downs the celebrations and the cancellations beside each other the photos we faced together on our four-year grade have brought us closer and showed us what we can accomplish side by side our class excelled in and out of the classrooms we showed what we were capable of and people took notice our class is proud to have 40
008illinois state scholars four national merit finals and to alert over two million dollars in scholarships to continue our education outside of the classroom we have nine committed athletes and our football team took their first conference title in 27 years in fact the only challenge we can accomplish is winning the homecoming hallway decorating conference even though we obviously had the best holiday but it all wasn't hard work we had some fun along the way over the last four years we've seen the head shaking assemblies dined on foster six and dance get hits from student loan being out of finals for a year and a half is pretty fun too and we didn't do it alone first we'd like to thank our teachers who truly cared for us and inspired us to aim for more thanking mr
009thomas the administration and the staff for making our school an exciting and nurturing place to learn thank you to our core support system mrs murphy and mrs anthony for guiding us through high school and into our futures and thank you to our parents friends and family you are there for us through it all in a few moments we'll cross the stage and leave high school behind but the friendships we formed and memories we made will stay with us forever we have so much to be proud of and so much to look forward to in the years to come congratulations to the class of 2021 who [Applause] did [Music] of 2021 please rise ladies and gentlemen the carbondale community high school district 165 board of education each member of this class of 2021 who stands before
