this year. So, I feel it's only right to have someone that's going to step into that role uh before I do depart. So, I'd like to elect Julie. >> Um I'm going to go ahead and speak on second that I know I know we don't require seconds, but I was going to make the same nomination. Um, and Julie, I'm nominating you as president this year because we have a full admin turnover next year. And I think one of the best things the board can do to support our new administration is to give them your wealth of knowledge as their point of contact. You have served on this board for a very long time. And there is no one better to be this transition person than you. I think. Okay. For the nomination election of vice

Um, board members u comments open forum. U Mrs. Darling. >> Um, I have I have nothing um this week. Thank you. Okay. >> Um, Mrs. salt. >> Uh, I have a couple things. Um, this weekend, Three Oaks installed its final playground. Um, and as I was walking my dogs back there, I'm amazed that all the parents who just give so much time and energy to putting in these playgrounds in in the past couple years. Um, so I just want to give the
PTO and all those parents a huge shout out. They're so beautiful. And I do know that the previous principal gave a little push back on putting these in. So I'm really thankful for Mr. Block being so supportive of the PTO cuz we finally have three new playgrounds. They're safe. No more rust and last probably another 10, 20 years. Um so thank you to them. Um and also kind of a little shout out for people I don't think get shouted out enough. Um sometimes I say personal things. So here's one. My son got a horrible injury at school on Friday and had to go to the hospital. Um, but thank God for the school nurse. I don't think we give them enough credit. Um, the nurses are trained. They're very smart. They know what to do
and they also know when to freak out and when not to freak out and how to keep the parent calm. So, um, a huge shout out to Ashley. I know she already saved a life last year and here she is helping my son this year. So, she's phenomenal. but also to all the nurses because I just don't think we give them enough credit. >> Mrs. Hartman, >> um I think I could do this briefly. One, shout out to the junior high for an amazing musical. This is the first time I've gotten to come to one and let me tell you, I am surprised and impressed by our community. I have a lot of years in youth theater and this is right up there with them. So, the junior high should be proud. I can't wait
to watch these kids stay on stage through their high school career. Um otherwise, I wanted to wish everyone a very happy May. I know it gets crazy. I know there are lots of events. Watch out for all the communications. Don't miss them. There's exciting things going on at all of the schools in the next month. We can't wait to see you there. And I hope everyone has a great end of their year. >> Mrs. Patter. >> Thank you. Uh I first want to congratulate you, Julie, on your board election. and it's it's been a long time coming and and it I know that I have faith in you and I know that this is going to be very good for us and I and I do also want to thank D for her service on
the board because she's really done an incredible job navigating this board through really tough unprecedented times uh with grace and dignity and some humility and um I think that everything that we've been through as a board has has made this group very we all have some kind of connection I think for life um because of that. But thank you for your leadership and just representing the school district and and I feel like you should be really proud of the way that you have represented the school district and yourself and um thank you for your service. Mrs. fan. >> Um I also want to congratulate everyone um for their board uh appointments. Um and thank you D for your service as well. And thank you to the Dear Path students. I love to see the participation.
The amount of students in each club is amazing to me. Um I think that's really cool and I just wanted to say uh congrats. Thank you. I just wanted to say um I'm very honored to um get everybody's support tonight and we've got um going to have a few interesting months coming up with the turnover, but I think it's um everything will be fine and we've um hired some wonderful people and I have very a lot of faith in um Dr. Thomas and Mr. Sheepard for their um leadership so in these last few months. So, I want to also thank the Dear Path Garden Club and choir. They did an awesome job. And this Saturday, we have the speech tournament here, which is always a a really fun um morning to see our students, fourth
grade through 8ighth grade. Um you know, get getting up the courage to give get in front of a group of adults and give um you know, a speech. And we always have the high school um speech team over here helping. and it's it's just a really fun morning. So that that is all. Okay. Uh Dr. Thomas, his superintendent update. Thank you. So um we've been talking about the change in the administrative staff and we have been working as the board knows very hard with Dr. Catchi, Dr. Burke Meyer and Dr. Bordinaro who have already been hired and are stepping in and doing amazing job already. It's been a pleasure to work with them side by side on hiring our next group of administrators that we're recommending tonight. Um there's three of them. I believe all
three are here. Um I'm going to start just briefly with our principal from Three Oaks. Her information this that is uh Kristen Herrick. Her information is in the consent agenda. The other two folks, the director of human resources, Belinda Kenyon, and assistant superintendent of finance and operation, Matt Glansman, are going to be talking about a little more detail in section 8 because uh when we have uh uh administrators who are in the central office staff, they go into section 8. But I do want to just highlight a few things about uh Miss Heric and uh thank you for being here tonight. Um she has her bachelor's degree from Purdue University and also master's degrees from Concordia in both curriculum and instruction and administration. Miss Herrick is currently the assistant principal at Spencer Lumis Elementary School
in Hawthorne Woods. And she has a background in bilingual Spanish teacher uh and as an EL and bilingual coordinator at the elementary school level. And we're very excited to have you join us and uh you will be up just in a moment in section seven. Um, in addition, I want to express my appreciation for this past week, we had uh uh admin administrator assistance week and uh we celebrated clerks, administrative assistants as well as our transportation personnel and I am just very appreciative of all the work they do which is often behind the scenes and is not always seen out in front but believe me the offices don't necessarily run without them there and I am very very appreciative both at the central office as well as at the buildings. And next week we'll be
celebrating uh educator appreciation week. So celebrating all of our teachers, pair professionals, related service providers um throughout the entire week. All of these folks work tirelessly to support our students and your work is very much appreciated. And then just finally, district calendar. We have a lot coming up. It's uh only April, but it seems like the end of the year is right around the corner. So just a reminder, April 24th and May 6th are early release half days. May 18th is the next committee of the whole and Tuesday May 26 that's because of the Memorial Day holiday is the next board of education meeting and uh our students will be very relieved to know the last day of school is June 2nd which is also a half day. So thank you very much. Our curriculum

and improving the sites of existing school buildings, providing for the levy of a direct annual tax sufficient to pay the principle and interest on said bonds and authorizing the proposed sale of said bonds to the purchaser thereof. Ah, any discussion? >> I'm going to make a very quick note that on the the remainder of the resolution, since we had our elections tonight, we probably need to update our president's name in the in the the rest of the thing we are signing, but otherwise, no comments. Uh again the the funds that we are using for this are coming from the education fund. They'll be offset by maturing investments. Uh and the amended budget will allow us to transfer up to 6 million.
