001the fact that it was Defensive I raised my uh uh you know red flag up there right away so I'm not I don't know that you wouldn't do this sort of thing okay I'm really concerned about that the taxpayers you know are are OD of voice absolutely out of voice this law is so wrong in all levels that uh you know there'll just be a Revolt out here if you try to push something through no no question because you know and then if you the home I understand the Builders Association didn't know about that as well until recently and they're like well uh do we uh do we want to build here not whatever they're kind of looking at things so if you drive Builders out too by because of laws like this you won't
002even need a school anyway so anyway um I wish I wrote more stuff down I was just so busy I apologize but you know I see that in order for the community to have value okay and the property values go up and have a you know reasonable tax base they want to have a good school district so a good school district is right at the top of the list that doesn't mean a new building it means keeping and retaining good teachers okay that your product is teaching your tools are the teachers when I see and hear the teachers are leaving why is that is it the pay is it they're unhappy I don't know I hear that but that needs to be addressed in order to Main maintain the community and the value of the
003people are paying for I don't know if that makes a lot of sense but tried to get this house I wish I wrote this oh I apologize again so um and then I don't know I guess you have I wish I could talk after you know this public comment stuff is right at the beginning so I do see you have a thing about um RSP update here so I'd like to be able to comment it after I heard about it but I don't know what going what you're going to say so um you know I'm obviously concerned about that too but basically I just like people to or the board to to take a look at and say like ginger had just read people aren't in favor of this you just don't get to say
004we want your money because we deem it necessary people should have a voice okay people should really have a voice and I know this form doesn't really give much a voice either I talk and you goes okay fine whatever I don't know how much really SS in I don't get any feedback okay thanks [Applause] thanks Mike uh next up Warren Ling hi everyone um I live on RAM road which is in the district of 301 um when we sold the property at a loss that bothered me and I know I'm sure you have reasons for that um and I don't know what those reasons were but I would like more transparency um I know we had we had troubles getting mailers out to people I don't think mailers were sent to every taxpayer I think
005it's important that you give us what a plan on what's going to happen um what is the board what is RSP going to do are we going to see the whole report are you going to post it on your website um just some things I want answered um I was told that you don't have to get bids for any buildings and you can stick with one um vendor or contractor um why do we have to do that why not get bids give us maybe we'll get a better deal maybe we'll get more for our money maybe we'll get this big extravagant school that has all these options for a little bit less anything's anything less is going to be better for us all um maybe in the focus group get a larger cross-section of people
006and that goes back to the communication thing maybe post some signs up on Plato and 47 and Burlington 47 some people don't get the internet older older seniors they're not into working on the web so you know if you put up a sign send a little flyer I think it' all help and get us all on board instead of uh one or two months before the election and springing it on your your plan um see I'd like um for you not to blame the previous School Board I I noticed there's a lot of finger point well we weren't there back then well now you got to solve the problem because they're no longer here we got to do the best we can uh take responsibility I'm concerned about HP 4582 like the other gentlemen and
007ladies talked about um how is that going to affect us what's going to happen what are you going to do with that power um then I just was driving by Lily Lake and I saw this huge diesel generator sitting out the front why do you have that there um and then the teacher turnover uh why is that um do you have an exit interview do you talk to the teacher and ask why she's leaving or he um you know is it like he said is it pay is it management is it environment I mean I think it's probably a good environment to work out in this in the country like we are um and another thing is we don't have any businesses that support the school district all we have is maybe one or two
008gas stations and that's it uh if you look at schools like Lake Zurich or uh Stevenson in Lincolnshire they probably have maybe a dozen two dozen gas stations that support them they have industrial they have recreational they have commercial we don't have that it's all on our backs so I need you need to consider us too but I'm not against um in investing in the schools I just want us to all work as a team thank you thanks won Katherine Coffman hi after attending the meeting about the referendum for a new high school I was curious about how a survey was found and used for the population and the growth in our school district when I when I question that my nephew Warren suggested I look up the United States Census Bureau and it actually
009shows that information for our district so I would like to know what the plan is to get an official um record of what our growth is projected to be and so that we can help make decisions based on that I too am concerned about the recent law passed in Springfield um our tax payers in this District carry a heavy burden I'm a former education person and I'm planed I'm proud to do that but I also know that at some point you can't bleed a turn up dry thank you thanks Katherine and last is Ryan Asher good evening ladies and gentlemen of the board my name is Ryan Asher I've lived in this district for nine years in the overall Western elen area for 18 years I have four children in the district this coming school
010year I'm going to have four children sprouted across four schools PV pkms CMS and CHS lucky me um I wanted to speak to this board and our community tonight and really do one the most important thing we as parents like to do to you all and which is thank you for the hard work you put in to support my children in their education the decisions you make are difficult and I understand that you have but I really do respect the effort you put in the work you put in to a volunteer job that you were elected to do so thank you for that um I've been watching closely the last nine years with all these decisions you've had to make as a board whether it's a Fieldhouse Co issues or now or now the focus
011on increasing the space we have in order to properly educate our children with every overall board decision you have all made there's one thing that's clearing my mind I support the board's decisions and will always support the way the board goes as a group um I I know the members of this board keep the most important thing at the top of their mind when they make these decisions it's very simple my children and all of your children and all of your children they keep those at the top of their mind with every decision they make and that's important that's why I elected you all to do that when an issue is at hand there certainly been times I don't agree with the decision that you're all going however I can still disagree but I will
012ultimately support the group's decision I will always find the positive in this situation and focus on that positive to help me understand why the group went the way they went as we come to receive the findings of RSP I look forward to hearing those results I expect our board to review those results and make it decision on the next steps of our district whatever the B whatever the overall board's decision is I'm going to support that whether the referendum is to build a high school a middle school or an elementary school I think the most important thing is that in November when the most people turn out to go to an election during a presidential election we get the most people in our district to come and help us make this decision that you all
013decide to put in front of them 70% turnout in a presidential election is the entire Community well about as much as we can get um I know the let me make sure I didn't miss something I know that the best decision will have been reached to support the goal of increasing the space we have in order to provide our children with the highest level and quality education they deserve so thank you so much for your time week in and week out thank you that's right thank you next we're move on action reports a motion second required to discuss and approve the consent agenda second in your board packet you have the board financial report revenues and expenditures um for May are included revenues are at 59. 85% compared to 52. 41% the year ago expenditures
014are at 78% compared to 7.69% a year ago um no impact fees or transition fees came in this month since the last board meeting and and then the bills payable reports for both Central and Northern cane are typical for the month of June we have schools wrapping up all of their year end getting ready for next year's bills are in there um and then we have a bond and interest payment in there um for $430,000 $475 and then our Property and Casualty Insurance payments and that for $687,000 any questions for Dana Fulk yes Hil yes Nolan yes papis yes aif yes Corman yes motion is carried next motion second are required to discuss and approve the boys track team overnight trip to ihsa State Track and Field competition Eastern Illinois University that occur May 23rd
015to 25th 2024 so moved second it's in our board packet director Jus coming up packet I'm not skipping okay information in the board packet uh we did have one gentleman qualifying 100 meter unfortunately he did not make it past day two but uh if you follow any track that 100 meter is a pretty staffed event throughout the year so we we're proud of hearing for making it down there and having that opportunity so thank you I just have one question T how do we figure out coaches attending it seems crazy that there was one qualifier with an alter I don't know if he went but one of the coaches has a dual license drive a bus so in times of Transportation when coach burner went down there he was paid to drive the bus down
016there and then Mr Schmidt retired we've got Dan Morgan stepping in to take his his role so we thought about him kind of getting his feet wet and seeing that then I believe the last one those John poot John P been there for years as well he's been there for years those are all considered our boys track coaches they all have a hand in working with the student but it's something we can certainly look at as we go forward but I know this situation was unique with Mike retiring Dan stepping in taking the race he's been at the middle school all year this would be his first experience and we're hopeful that this continues to happen and Dan hopefully gains some experience all right it seems like if it was a shop hood or discus
017you wouldn't need four especially you know those coaches that don't deal in those events you know you know so I think it' be a good thing to look at in the future absolutely so cool thanks H yes Nolan yes papis yes aif yes vul yes Gman yes motion is carried next the motion in second are required to discuss and approve the donation of PE supplies to Central High School move second so we had a donation from a business owner to um new yoga mats that were never used um so the value of them um would have been $870 and so since it's over the $500 we bring it to the board to approve before we um just accept the donation so Brandon Nolan yes papis yes a thief yes Fulk yes enil yes Corman yes
018motion is carried motion second requir to discuss and approve the addendum to real estate purchase agreement for the woron property so a few things happened second exting you I so moved eroke up take a b right there so the real estate purchase agreement went through for the Meyer property uh couple things happen within the purchasing agreement U Myers actually uh for kind of gave us real estate taxes we should have owned in terms of the rest of the year because when you purchase land you always have to go back and pick up a piece of that they actually absorb that as part of the cost that was rechanged they actually gave us those extra dollars as part of the purchase agreement so this is a purchase agreement addendum to allow us to actually accept that
019and get them giving us the dollars for those real estate dollars so they're giving us the money for the real estate taxes okay papis yes yes Fulk yes pil yes Nolan yes Gman yes motion is carried next the motion in second are required to discuss and approve the denim to Illinois cash Farm lease for the roron property so moved second so another denim to the uh cash Farm lease uh so we sold the Myers property there was a time frame in between that the district own the property prior to the Myers taking over the property as purchasing it um and they use land to actually plant on it so when they started to plant and use the land prior to the sell uh we took in Lee dollars or rental dollars for that land so
020additional payment of $1,530 for the usage of the land prior to them actually owning it um was paid the district as well EXC okay aif yes ful yes hille yes Nolan yes pepis yes Gorman yes motion is carried next the motion and second and requireed to discuss approved the fuel bill for the 20 to 24 2025 school year second so bid specs went out to vendors we had 12 vendors that I emailed to four bids came in officially um Feast oil who's our current um supplier came in with basically a0 per markup on the adjustment so he was doing a different strategy he said um we confirmed that it was not a typo and um so compared to the other three that we bid and your you have a recap in your packet but it's
021about a $20,800 savings for the district job all right a yes F yes Hil yes Nolan yes papis yes Gorman yes motion is carried next motion and second are required to discuss and approve the depositories for school funds for the 2024 to 2025 school year fiscal year I'm sorry second so I have a whole bunch of annual things that we have going on here but this is the first one um every year we approve um policy requires us to approve the um Financial depositories that we use for Central um currently we have Old Second Bank and the Illinois funds um and then I put pm on here PMA Securities um in case we ever decide to invest or do anything more with it good Fulk yes Hil yes Nolan yes papis yes a th yes
022Forman yes motion is carried motion second a require discuss and improve the depositories for school funds for the 2024 to 2025 fiscal year for the northern kinge County Regional Vocational system second um same approval for Northern cane um the only depository they have is Old Second Bank all right mfil yes noan yes papus yes a yes PA yesman yes motion is carried Motion in second are require to discuss and approve the appointment of Dana flug as the treasurer for Student Activity funds for the 2024 2025 school year so moved second so another annual policy that we approve a a treasure that treasur is recommended to be myself for next school year um and then listed in the memo are all of the admin assistants that actually handled the accounts at the school level um they
023follow the same process that we do for all of our bills so they would put in the purchase order the principal approv it the students are um sign off on it and then it comes to district office and then we do the cutting the checks and mailing out who does hbt MPV yeah they don't have accounts oh okay at this time okay okay Nolan yes papis yes aif yes Hulk yes Hil yes Forman yes motion is carried motion second required to discuss and approve the audit committee for the central 301 so moved second so each year um we have two board members being approved to be part of the audit committee um basically the auditor makes a phone call to one or two of the board members um last year we had um B and
024Nolan and we just need to appoint two people I'm I'm happy to do it again there's no reason not to it's multiple years for me you can have it all yours you don't want to do the extra papis yes aif yes Fulk yes Hil yes Nolan yes Gorman yes motion is carried next motion and second are required to discuss and approve the audit committee for the northern King County Regional locational system so second so this is the same appointment of um two people to serve on the aut committee for Northern pain I'll take it you sure same same one phone it's one phone call so I'll I'll do we'll just keep it the same we'll just make it easier for them too unless anybody else wants to do I think you excellent not an issue
025right all right AED yes F yes pil yes Nolan yes papis yes Gman yes motion is carried Motion in second a require to discuss and approve the appointment of persons to prepare the tenative budget for Central 301 some second yes um so school code requires us to designate a person to um prepare the tenative budget for the new fiscal year um who do you recommend Dan would really like to recommend don't give her that option right so um obviously recommend myself it's a team effort we have HR payroll Finance we have all the building principles curriculum everybody's involved in it so um it's a team effort but I would be the one designated as the winner do we feel like we should go with Dana let's do it okay yeah fingers crossed aif yes Fulk
026yes Hil yes Nolan yes papis yes Gorman yes motion is carried motion second required to discuss and approve the appointment of the same person no of a person to prepare the Ted budget for the northern King County Regional Vocational system so moved second wait she didn't say she do it so same same recommendation but this one is with my finance team and Terry St the director of the northern G he's the one that work me to slightly smaller animal it's a lot smaller right ful yes Hil yes Nolan yes papis yes aief yes Forman yes motion is carried motion second requir to discuss and approve the resolution designating interest in the education fund operations and maintenance fund Transportation fund and working cash funds so moved second um so required annually to approve this resolution to
027designate those four funds um and it basically just prevents interest to turn from turning into principal um just gives us the flexibility to use it when we when we truly need it at a later date tempil yes Nolan yes pepis yes a yes ful yesman yes motion is carried motion second required discuss and approve the resolution authorizing payment of custodial maintenance salaries and utilities from operations and maintenance Fund in lie of Education fund second so another required resolution to authorize us to basically pay for custodians and the utility bills through onm fund um we've done this for for many years but in the school budget technically it comes out of the education fund so this resolution allows us to continue our practice that we've been doing Nolan yes Pap yes aif yes F yes H
028yesman yes motion is carried motion second are required to discuss and approve the resolution for working cash fund abatement or the W policy for col 10 limit on expenditures and excess of budgeted amounts second so this year the onm fund expenditures will be in in excess of an estimated $ 1.9 million policy 410 states that the um the amount budgeted as expenditures in the fund is the maximum amount that may be expended for the category except when a transfer of fund is authorized by the board um So based on this policy we prepared two options for the board one we can either transfer money from working cash funds to onm fund um that would through the resolution to cover the excess that would reduce the working cash fund balance um to cover that amount or
029we can approve the waiver of the policy 410 um liit on the expenditures for the excess in respect to onm fund for fy2 24 um so basically you could transfer money from working cash to om and M taking that money out for good um to cover that amount that we've been using for construction projects in the onm fund um I believe that the on M fund has proper um balances that they have sufficient funds in there to be able to cover this to support that amount um and then policy 2240 provides that the board by a majority vote of the members present at the meeting May temporarily suspend a board policy except for Provisions that are controlled by law or contract um school code says that the budgeted expenditures is an estimate um it does
030not expressly prohibit expenditures from going over um so and then isb's guidance suggests that the budget should be viewed as a limitation on the expenditure Authority so ISB will not interfere with local control in regard to school districts including our district um we've been doing this it's it's a practice that a lot of schools do um so it's my recommendation that the board hold on to the fund the working cash fund reserves um and approve the waiver to the policy U 410 thank SM from a budgeting standpoint is there any benefit to doing one or the other um well you're you would take your working cash fund from 3 million down to whatever a million and that's it's a small fund that it's just a very little Levy that goes in there to build that
031back up um the onm fund we had budgeted um a deficit of six million and right now we're at only three million deficit because we've brought in more money than we anticipated to kind of offset it that's why you're a recommended wa right do what we've been doing yeah all right yes yeah language all right papis yes aif yes Fulk yes Hil yes Nolan yes Gman yes the motion is carried motion second are requir to discuss and improve contracts with public vendors that exceed $11,000 net revenue to move second so this is an annual approval for um vendors that exceed a th in net revenue um when I do the actual audit and we have or the actual budget is be there's a page in there I'll tell you the dollar amounts that we actually
032profited this is just getting um approval of the vendors that we could use for fundraisers um the list is the same it doesn't change ever very much um last year we added the um Scholastic in because they started doing the Book Fairs again at the school rather than the pto's um but this is the same exact list as last year what's the process to add what what's the process to add to the was um well it's a projection we don't know I mean some of these people might only make $800 instead of a thousand but we just put them on here for approval um if they think that they might get to that point and if they did then next year I would just bring them an ad them if they do start creeping up
033there okay thank you all right aif yes hul yes Hil yes Nolan yes papis yes Gorman yes motion is carried motion and second are required to discuss and approve school lunch fees for the 20 24 to 2025 school year so second so no changes from last month's proposal um just seeking approval right a thief yes Fulk yes Hil yes Nolan yes papis yes Gman yes motion is carried motion and second or required to discuss and approve the renewal of veterinarian affiliation agreements second second so this is an annual process we've been going through for many years since the ven program was alive Stephen's not here today but this is basically all renewals that we're bringing forward today nobody knew um in terms of our business partners that we work with for veterinary uh clinics so
034everybody we're bringing forth have already been part of our program for multiple years did everybody reew uh we still have some other ones out there that will come back next month but nobody that said no thank you as far as we're aware most of the veterinaries like to work with our students matter of fact many of our students work with um from internship programs and get hired from them so we had great great responses from our veterinary clinics that's great good pulk yes H yes Nolan yes papus yes a yes Gman yes motion is carried motion and second a required to discuss and approve the Mid Valley classroom agreement for the 2024 to 2025 school year so move second so annually we look at the needs across our district and we share programming with Mid
035Valley um as you're well aware we sometimes send students off to Mid Valley classrooms when they go to St Charles um sometimes we offer those programs within our own District um the need for our students is growing uh we have a lot of kids that are you know have autistic needs and they have a lot of programs that are autistic so we are bringing an additional classroom to prw an additional classroom to Central High School to meet the growing needs of our families who actually live in our district um so we will be offering programs within our district for those population the space that you see there's another space one that was actually there this year and asked for it it's actually a calming space at the high school also kind of an OT space
036for some students at the high school that are in the life skills program it's actually the old the ticket booth that was put in it's a very very smaller kind of I want to say closet it's pretty small area that they use um for that the rate of increase for a rental of that space going went up a little bit the disadvantage we don't want to go too high uh because we already P tuition um so we're trying to offset some toys but also the space issues with that's the dollars that we have here for the midley room rentals for fy2 2425 that we would receive back uh deduct deduct from the tuition we pay for our kids atmin valy Hil yes Nolan yes pepis yes aif yes Fulk yes Gman yes motion is carried
037motion and second required to discuss and approve the board meeting dates for the 2024 to 202 school year so moved second so in your board packet you have the dates for next school year uh that we're looking to approve a few dates to talk about as always the September date we push back usually about a week primarily because the budget has to sit on the shelf for 30 days and to make sure we have that 30-day window we have to push it back so September 23rd is actually the fourth Monday would that be the third Monday so it's a little bit different um and then we have the two holidays that happen in January and February we have Martin Luther King that's in January and we have Pres in February and so those two um
038dates January 21st and February 18th are on a Tuesday versus a Monday uh but once you approve these dates I will have M to put them into a calendar invite for you so that you have them for next school year any concerns or questions regarding the dates they're pretty consist the all right noan yes papis yes aif yes Fulk yes hemp yes Gman yes motion is carried move on to information items uh first up natural gas bid update so at last month's board meeting um the board authorized us to conduct a a process to accept and ex execute a natural gas um agreement um not to exceed 48 months um we did three refreshes um shortly after that um to work on the amounts and the the timing um the natural gas prices were between
03935 and 39 cents per THM um the current rates when they were triggering 40 to 45 a THM when we were looking at the 10e history of nikor um those are the 35 to 39 um averages so we felt like this was a little bit higher of a time that those rates were in um so we determined not to lock into a 48 month because it was a little bit higher we were going to kind of wait to see if um prices start to come down um but then when we were trying to we're we're looking into locking into just a one year um having a super hot summer which was hot today or a really cold winter could affect that when we go back out next to do it again so we determined that
040a two-year to lock into um the 24 month would be the best decision for the district um so we locked in 24 months with NG resources at 39.73 okay and then how many with the RFP process how many different vendors to be um I think there were four that submitted so it's 100% fa f price so that's what it is and some a lot of vendors don't like that because of the swings right so okay thanks D facilities director paway provid us the facilities update thank youy for letting me go first you're welcome don't know what exciting stuff Ted has so I'm going to try to really amp this up tonight um summer time uh summertime well that did it that did it you amp up you wanted to be amped up appreciate that appreciate
041that so um summertime that wasn't the song I chose um summer cleaning uh summertime brings summer cleaning brings a ton of work for our staff our department not that we're not busy during the school year but I mean getting everything wrapped up from where the year end ended up to kind of getting it ready for next year so we had our first staff meeting in the summer you know showing appreciation for them um and all the hard work they've done through the school year and then moving forward for the summer um they put in a lot of hours a lot of effort to make sure those classrooms and buildings are ready for our teachers and kids next year so I want to make sure I give them plenty of Kudos um this year also we
042were privileged enough to get I think we're at 13 or 14 summer help staff which is a record since I've been here you know six or seven was a good number a lot of those are former students and staff members um students so like college kids you know 18 and over students they help with custodial work help moving furniture they help us cut grass we actually have a painting crew um Teresa's daughter speaks highly of that crew um so they're doing a lot of good things for us so that's been a great benefit so I want to make sure I give them kudos for coming and and out and doing that for us um High School addition obviously the main project we have for this summer um encountered um another slight delay in HVAC equipment
043from our vendor one of the parts for our uh two air handling units is on delay so we're working through those things to try to see how we can remediate that and what we can do to kind of get things back on track again unforeseen things we didn't plan you know we we planned ahead with trying to get stuff procured and ordered in time but supply chain issues is just kind of the nature of our business and we got to kind of work through those um generator project so we've wrapped up Lily lakes and the transportation and maintenance building generator so we've got startup on those those are all up and running those two projects are completed so heaven forbid we have a power outage at at Lily Lake that building will be fully supported
044so we'll be in good shape there um our contractor electrician's working through Prairie View and hbt right now so hopefully by the end of this month those will be kind of wrapped up and we'll be looking at doing startups for those in July um we're still working on the uh we've had some some questions about our our bid for uh Prairie and no parking lot and for PVS playground asphalt so we're still working through those so I'll be bringing that probably to the board next month with more information trying to get that bid package out and getting all the details itemized has been a little challenging so we're trying to work through that and along with that we'll be working on um Lily Lake and hbt's asphalt playgrounds will also get a revamp and a
045replacement this summer kind of get those up to speed to make sure those are in good shape um seal coating as you noticed out here seal coating started already um staff here was was worked around us on Friday so we got that done so we'll be working through the district getting a lot of that stuff done to obviously make sure our asphalt to last just as long as we possibly can get it to last are we going to get the poth holes over at Country Trails filled in too yep yep yep so we're not doing massive repairs or those will be spot repairs that lot will be that Bus Loop will be the next one on the on the docket for replacement yep yep um and then painting projects I talked about the in-house stuff
046um looking at exterior doors classrooms hallways those kind of things we have our in-house staff that's kind of they're working in hbt right now they'll be kind of going throughout the district and then we Al also have a contractor that come in do more of the detailed work more of the fine-tuned stuff that I think is might be a little bit more than our staff and the students can handle they'll be taking care of some of that stuff so we'll have a lot of that forthcoming to the summer and that's a lot but I'm sure there'll be other stuff I'll come up with something else but do you foresee any delays with the heat when it comes to the addition as far as the it being 90 degrees all week do you think there's I
047don't I don't think so because we've got everything buttoned up we actually have uh portable air conditioning and fans running in the building that we had to do to get mud to dry and paint to dry and all those things so the building is getting pretty contained right now so hopefully that won't be a delay it's hasn't been a delay thus far we'll see how the week goes any other questions awesome thank you thank you thank you that's G be a tough followup is here here we go take a chance take a chance take a chance on me appreciate what you did everybody's waiting to he about this RSP update build build it up um just want to give you an update first of all thank you again for everything um I know I've been
048up here in the fall and the winter we've had some success our Spring by far athletically was kind of above and beyond our girl soccer team took forth that state and uh if you were out there Friday when they lost to Chris Lake Central the the number of community members uh students staff or just general people who were excited to see them compete were out there at North Central College and uh thank you Dr Ming for coming out as well it was just it was awesome to see that kind of community involvement for for something like that and then you ducktail that into a baseball sectional final at Sycamore there's like 250 people at a park in Sycamore watching sycore and Burlington play play baseball or Central play baseball so um just awesome to see
049uh not to overshadow but uh we had boys and girls lacrosse who kind of took their first steps as a varsity varsity sport this year unfortunately they fell short in the sectional but they were competing with the St Charles the Huntley the schools have been doing it a lot longer um softball numbers were improved they had a they had a great game they lost a heartbreaker as well one nothing and then obviously the success that we had with with boys and girls track taking that first step in a 3A they went from being the big fish in the small pond to being the small fish in the big pond and still uh as we continue to see that growth I think we're three or four years years away from a lot of our other sports
050making that step up going into that kind of high higher bracket um from a club an activity standpoint uh the past two years we've put a lot more emphasis and focus on that uh the numbers have gone up I think that's part of our growth but it's also getting those opportunities out there for kids to see what we have that may not be interested in the athletic portion but some of the activities we offer I do know with some of the activities we're kind of at a a standstill with things like Robotics and some different things just because of the space it's needed to dedicate to that but we're looking at some uh hopeful Solutions on trying to figure that out and allowing some kids to really excel in those areas with some of the
051other classes that they're adding but if I looked at the rough rough numbers between five Labs what we have I mean we're we're right around 70% of our students who go to Central High School are involved in something whether it's a band whether it's a sport and as we know a fine art or a club or activity as you know if you've done any of that attendance and academics are better because those kids are invested and our coaches and sponsors are really trying to tackle that whole child mentality so uh just wanted to give you update there again thank you to Dan and his staff they were out there if you've been to the high school with the drop off from the oneway entrance as we await PL Road and everything else they did a
052great job mapping that out that seems to be a a smooth traffic flow despite last week having like what seemed like 500 little kids and parents running around round between basketball baseball soccer and everything else so um thank you for that thank you for all the support this year greatly appreciate hopefully you enjoy your summer and looking forward to next year already so thank you thank you next move up to the move on to the RSP update so RSP update uh basically we've been working with RSP to get a contract sign we still do not have a signed contract with them um we C get over to our teams to basically work together there's some uh challenges with the foil language um specifically more for RSP than for us uh to ensure that their Preparatory
053elements of their own materials are held U tightly it sounds like they had a hiccup with some other Illinois school and so they're just making sure that they're covered from a a third party vendor that works with the school district to ensure that they can keep their materials and the things that they do safe and that nobody can get their hands on them to fo um so right now we're still working I thought I was going to up today but uh did not so we will continue to work through the process to get the the signed contract the good news is they did give me in advance some of the materials they're looking for so we are pulling stuff and putting them in a file to hold until the signatures it must be signed by
054both parties both of the board and them before we can submit and the contract is complete so depending on that depending on the signatures uh we'll then get the information to them um that they're asking us to call most of the time frame is actually pulling the data so um at least having that information and being able to work with different parties uh within our own organization to get that a lot of our building Administration we're very busy pulling stuff me for the building Steve Nelson's pulling stuff from lks darnby we're working with Kan County to get information relevant to Maps some of those types of things as well as Les Stone our student information for our student data so all that is being pulled but we're still waiting for the are we anticipating a
055delay then when I talked to Rob who was the owner of the organization uh a week and a half ago um when I'm like what what's going on why can't we get this contract done um he basically said that uh he still felt we could make that as long as I was able to pull some of the stuff in advance that's why he was willing to give that to us so we're just pulling hopefully to give as as much stuff as we can right off of that yeah so there's not a delay okay cool and give a time frame while hopefully get this still figure out honestly I think our attorney fell it was done too um when I received I received it myself today this morning um for it to our attorney and um
056she's like she's got some questions relev to what they put in so now it's just got to go back to their attorneys so we're close okay right next up is the Kane EF 110 work based learning update good evening thanks to the board and thanks to Dr mgan for allowing me to come and get an update uh some of you may remember this is the third summer now we've Run summer internships uh the first summer we had 52 students involved last year it grew to 83 and I'm excited to say we're at 143 students now uh that are in paid summer internships across the region uh 24 of those are from Central 301 uh so we're really excited to have that uh this summer we went back to having our pharmacy tech internship which is
057a great program we had last summer h on top of that we've now grown into a medical rotation internship so students were rotating through 10 different departments at the hospital uh so we have 10 students in involved in that program as well so overall 143 students uh and actually we had all four districts agree on a single mou for summer internships moving forward so we're even more excited about the fact that all four of them can gr the same mou to for companies to sign as we move forward so overall great things going on with summer internships and work based learning throughout the region thank you thank you then we have a handbook update so um we decided this year with the handbook the handbook has always been three separate handbooks elementary middle school and
058high school and one of the things we're working on right now is putting the hbook into one District handbook we will have a appendices that deal directly with different levels so if this is something different for an elementary or middle school or High School there'll be appendices that will address those differences but for the sake of a parent who has you know Mr Ash mentioned today he's got students at all levels just makes it easier for one big read uh to be able to get on the handbook and the discipline policies and the procedures that we have within that handbook so it will come in front of the board for open or for uh information next month with all the shifts and changes in one handbook and then it will come for um obviously for
059Action in August in time we just have to by law we can't give a handbook out early we have to give within 15 days of the school to starting and so it puts us right in time for the time frame of what we need uh it's a little tighter for our board usually we're here this month but trying to combine this one handbook has been a little bit more of the task and we're also trying to streamline some of the bo policy so that it's embedded inside there so parents can click on links just to make a little easier for them to view so we're embedding all the links so parents can just select those links and go View and have those at their access so it's just taking a t bit of time for
060my administrative group to really kind of put that down into a level then me to review it to make sure that it's in it's in fine shape as well as our handle committee that we have from our building Administration okay all right uh next up is our board member vacancy we had a board member resign recently so we are accepting applications uh we put sent out emails to a couple groups hopefully vast majority of the district received it but I wanted to make an announcement here also so email or uh applications can be emailed to me at jeff. Gorman central301 or they can be mailed to the district office here um and the term is going to be for about 10 months uh then that person would go up for a two-year remaining um well
061they wouldn't have to but the election for the next term would be two years to fill the entire um term of the original board members term so the other thing I wanted to mention we found out that there for PL Township we have a limit to three people per Township for the board Plato Township is already capped is there are three board members on here so we can't accept any further applications and no appointment will be made from a person residing in Plato Township um I think that we'll figure that out with the election for the two-year term because I think one or two people from Plato Township are up for re-election also so and that's that then we have Northwestern Illinois Association executive board ballot so we have always been part of the ni
062or Organization for many many years and as part of the uh being as part of the executive board as an executive board Bell and it has become the board of education for you guys to be able to select or elect a director special education and the at large member um there's one running for each of those so it should be a really tough ballot to fill out but you do need to fill out the ballot and sign it as part of being that executive uh director um within the ni group all right we move on four so we've been getting uh lots of foas uh we continue to get many many foyers uh Mrs Aro received request for invoices receiv received for paint purchases U made by the district over the past five years um
063we were able to comply with the request and was able to pull all the painting information that we needed and so we were able to comply with that request smart procure which we get annually that's something we always get consistently received a request for purchase orders or records from April 27th through April 29th of this year um we to comply with that request as well uh CA we received the request for invoices from our legal councel related to ca grievances filed on April 11th along with any other expenses incurred by the agreements um we were able to comply in part um we denied in part as well uh some documents were redacted and we Deni the request for redacted portions of bills as they are protected by attorney client privileges um Miss Martinez we receed
064a request for purchase orders and communication between vendors sh mcnut and the d uh district for furniture f hbac and electrical components showing supply chain delays with estimated delivery uh we were able to comply with the request however we did redact some personal email addresses from that and then Mrs cisus we received a request for written comments provided to the district from the twoo post election survey and the post election survey in April 2023 and were able to comply with requests however we we redacted personal names phone numbers and email addresses from that so those were for is for this all right motion second to adjourn Open Session and move to close session for the following exceptions 2c1 2c2 2c3 and 2 c21 soov second give options all right CIS yes aif yes Fulk yes
065pil yes Nolan yes Gorman yes the motion is carried thanks again for coming out tonight thank you have a good evening thank you did you
