002the results of the canvas for the election of the board members yes okay the time has come welcome new board members it's time for for you to take the longest um in your video packet we have the script for that so now one of the few duties the superintendent gets to do uh instead of the president of the board is to square in the new board numbers i will now square in the newly elected members of the school board if the newly elected board members would please repeat after me so we'll just kind of go through it together and you'll state your name discharge the duties of the office do you solemnly swear that i will faithfully discharge the duties a member of the board of education of central community unit school district of the
003office of member of the board of education in accordance with the constitution of the united states the constitution of the state of illinois the state of illinois and the laws of the state of illinois to the best of my ability i shall respect taxpayer interest by serving as a faithful protector of the school district's assets i shall respect the taxpayer's interest i shall encourage and respect the free expression of opinion by my fellow board members and others who seek a hearing before the board while respecting the privacy of students and employees i shall recognize that a board member has no legal authority as an individual and that decisions can be made only by the majority vote at a public meeting and i shall abide by the majority decisions of the board while retaining the right

008sure so um i would be delighted to serve as secretary of the board for the next two years if you would like me to do so and i'll tell you why it benefits the school district and the families to have me as the secretary i've been an attorney for 26 years and i have served as a secretary for statewide illinois motor vehicle theft prevention task force for the illinois center of excellence for behavioral health and justice for the institutional review board of the illinois criminal justice information authority everything that we as a body do under the open meetings act with foia with the ethics laws uh with the election code are things that i've been working on as an attorney and as a board member and as a secretary for a very long time so
009that's the expertise and the experience that i bring to this board in serving and executing the responsibilities of the secretary so for me as a board member i'm here and i'm going to have my one vote i'm offering to you this extensive experience in order to benefit the community so if you would like the secretary of the board to be somebody from amongst us who has by far and away the most experienced in this role i'm happy to do it thank you i'd like to speak sure i have had numerous leadership positions within the county and currently sit in major league leadership roles and i too would be an excellent choice due to the fact that i've sit on many executive committees throughout the state great thank you all right all in favor of genetic
