001in this video we'll take a brief tour of the WordPress dashboard which allows you to access all of the management tools for your WordPress website to get to your WordPress dashboard you can simply type slash WP dash admin at the end of your URL of your website this will bring you to the page asking you to login with your username and password the dashboard is the first page once you're logged in every screen contains three areas the tool bar along the top the side navigation menu along the left side and the work area where you'll find the content of that section on this dashboard you'll see a welcome module with links to help you get started building your WordPress site once you're comfortable with the dashboard you can dismiss this module message in the top

002toolbar we have some links to some of the most commonly used functions of the WordPress dashboard such as new post page etc if you hover over your site name in the top left it allows you to quickly visit your site when visiting your site logged in you'll see a toolbar at the top of the page and this allows you to quickly make changes or head back to the wordpress dashboard we can go back to the dashboard by hovering over the website name on the toolbar in terms of the toolbar itself it displays simple notifications if there are updates available or comments waiting for moderation on the right-hand side of the toolbar you can access your profile where you can customize WordPress to work best for you such as changing the color scheme for your dashboard

003area here you can also change your bio profile picture and create a new password the logged out everywhere button at the bottom will log out all sessions across all devices back to the dashboard you can see two tabs in the top right screen options and help these expanding tabs provide help across the WordPress dashboard screen options is contextual and allows you to choose what you want displayed on the dashboard on the left side is the navigation menu if you hover over the menu item you can access the sub menus which provides even more menu options this menu contains links to all administrative screens within your WordPress you can also collapse the navigation bar for more space back to the dashboard you can also change the display boxes order in this main work area this allows

004you to customize your dashboard so it best works with your style you can move them around by clicking and dragging on the top bars of the boxes these boxes are important the at a glance box shows a summary of your site and tells you what theme and wordpress version you're using activity shows your most recent activity and recent comments here you can also moderate the comments as well the WordPress news section allows you to see what's new with WordPress from around the internet quick draft is also important and this allows you to create a quick draft which you can come back later to on your WordPress dashboard this is a draft though so it won't go live until you publish it and that was just a brief overview of the WordPress dashboard stay tuned for
