001this video in our WordPress series goes over creating a new post from the WordPress editor if you remember posts are blog entries that can be added whenever in a post you can type whatever you want and give it a title and it will be displayed as a post on your WordPress website clicking on the post on the WordPress site will take you to another page with more information about that post adding a post is as simple as going to the post section of the dashboard and hitting add new post on the add new post page you'll remember what we talked about during the editor video we have access to all of those features when editing our post and I'll go over some of the other settings when creating your post now - so let's give

002this post a title and some body content once the title has been added WordPress will give the post a permalink URL this URL can be customized as you see fit for SEO purposes next I'll put some content into the editor notice how the editor size increases as more content is added after we've done that it's a good idea to give your post a category over on the right side we can create categories for our posts and any categories you create will be available for any future posts you might have next let's add some tags tags are the keywords of your post they can be thought of as a summary of your post and are a way to enable your reader to find other articles containing the same tag tags will appear on the bottom of

003your post on your WordPress site you should also think about adding a featured image clicking on this you can upload your own files to the web server the publish module is located at the top this is where you will publish your post clicking save draft to save the post as a draft will not publish it yet preview allows you to preview what the post will look like here you can also choose if you want your post to be public password protected or private by default hitting publish will publish your post automatically but you can also choose to schedule it for another day or time or backdate the post once the post is published we can view it on our WordPress website next up we'll be going over some of the post formatting options in WordPress
