001we've gone over the post editor before and how to create hyperlinks in brief detail but this video is all about creating links on your WordPress website in this video I'll show you how to create links it's a good idea to have links on your posts for content that might be useful for other readers if you remember I went over how to create links using text for a quick refresher we can head to one of our posts I want to link some text on this post so to do that I can highlight the text that I want to link and then hit the hyperlink button once I've done that I'll be able to choose where I want to link it to in this little box here I can choose to link it to another page on

002my own WordPress site by typing in one of the page titles or I can choose to link it to another external website and to do that well simply paste in the URL from that website we can also edit our link by hitting the edit link button which allows us to change a few options including if we want the link to open in a new tab or not now we can head to preview to see what this link looks like did you know you can also use images to create links this is a way to create a sort of button on your site where when the user clicks the linked image they'll be taken to another page or download file that you've attached to that image for example you could have a picture of a restaurant

003menu then when clicked it downloads a PDF of the menu for the visitor to look at I'll now head back to one of my posts where I have my sample PDF document first things first click on the PDF link and make sure to copy the URL address from that link I'll now attach a document to an image so I can go to the add media menu and select an image to add and then I can choose from the options on the right side what I want the image to link to I'll go down to custom URL and then paste in the link that I just copied from that PDF document and now that image is linked to this PDF document and that was just a brief overview of links and how they work together on
