001It's 7 o'clock. We'll go ahead and call the meeting to order. Welcome everyone. We'll start off with a roll call, please. >> Fried. >> Adam Hamilton >> here. >> Andrea Cy here. >> Kelly Moyer >> here. >> Greg Meyer >> here. >> Lisa Schumacher >> here. >> Tyson Search >> here. >> All right. We all stand and we'll recite the pledge of allegiance, please. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Perfect for that. Welcome visitors. We had a good showing this evening. Always like to see that. Moving on. Do we have any public comments? All these people, no one wants to say anything, huh? >> No correspondence. >> All right.
002No correspondence. So, move on right to our consent agenda. Dr. Gro, if you'd walk us through that, please. >> Yeah. Um, at this time of year, it's good to not have too many personnel items. We really just have two things. A leave of absence. Alexis Schlmer is going to take the year off for the CHS assistant softball um due to the pregnancy. She will be back next year. And then Pauline Da, cafeteria worker, from December 22nd to April 13th. She needs to take a leave as well. So, administration recommends the board approve the consent agenda as presented. >> Pretty straightforward. Any questions, concerns, comments? Hearing none. Would anybody like to make a motion to approve the consent agenda as presented? >> I'll make a motion. >> Thank you, Andrea. Second. >> A second. >> Thank
003you, Tyson. Roll call, please. >> Himkin, >> yes. >> Corey, >> yes. >> Friedrich, absent. Moyer, >> yes. >> Meyer, >> yes. >> Schumacher, >> yes. >> Search, >> yes. >> Perfect. That carries. move on to our items for action. Oh, I'm sorry. I'm getting ahead of myself. Uh, enrollment report is in the packet, I believe. >> Then we'll start with our administrative reports and our building report. >> Hi. >> We have Columbia. I'm the assistant principal of the high school. Um, and so today I'm here to present some of the high school things that have been going on. I have two slides up. The first one, [clears throat] um, obviously is all of our sports things because we've had a very successful season. Um, and so today I have for us Max Anderson and
004Elliot Nelson who will be presenting the soccer state trophy. They won their 1A. Um, if you boys want to go up, go ahead. Um, the name plate is currently off of it right now. Um, we are adding all the athletes names to it, so that's why it's not there. >> Very cool. >> And they won this two weeks ago. >> Congratulations. They had outscored teams there six to one. And then this past weekend we just had girls volleyball. They are 2A champions, state champions as well. And I have two seniors as well. This is Camry Johnson and Mara Colenberger. >> And this is their trophy. And again, plate is not there because we are adding all the girls names to it as well. >> So thank you guys. If you want you can put them
005up there and you guys can take off. Thank you for being here. Um, congratulations. Yep. >> They did an excellent job representing them. I had the lucky be pleasure of being there both weekends with them. These kids fought really hard and everything like that. And um, both of them were extremely exciting. In volleyball, this is the first time ever in school history that we won. So, that's pretty cool. Um, and then up on the slide there are two pictures of them at state and everything. Um, in the middle picture we have Avery Arendelle. She went for golf this um in October and she won second place which is the best girl ever has ever done at state for golf. Um our bottom middle pitcher, we had the lucky pleasure of celebrating the arch and its
006anniversary. So our marching band went out there and got to do a whole parade and everything. Um and then in the upper corner there we have the girls cross country team. They won their regional as well as went off to sectionals. Um, that's the furthest they made it. But this is since I've been here, this is my ninth year. The girls have not actually had a full team. So, we finally had a full team. And to win regionals, having a full team for the first time in nine years is pretty exciting. And then in the bottom corner, we just also started a speech team with our new librarian at the high school. And so, several of our kids actually placed and ribboned at their very first competition. And so, that's very exciting. It's getting golf
007off of the ground and we're doing pretty excellent right away. Um in our second slide we have um in the bottom corner we continued our on Fridays we wear blue um our first nomination actually went to Miss Noren Friedrich over here um as a big thank you for bringing back our um athlete and student of the months type stuff. um she with her business and fit body they um have been able to celebrate a whole year and this year athletes of the month. So we were very proud of that. And then in that picture we um honored um our construction crew since they started the new gym. We decided to have all of our athletes, several of them are state athletes out there celebrating the fact that we're going to get some a new gym
008out there. And so they were our last honorary one and we should be doing another one here at the end of the month. Um in the upper corner um is our key club. They went out on their day off, Veterans Day, and went and um found veterans and rake their yards for them. And so I just thought that was pretty neat and special to take a day off of school and they were actually working for the community. Um and then um you will see before and after p pictures of our bridges. Um and that is our construction class. We had a bridge and according to safety plans we needed this bridge and so obviously it was not going to work with some of our wheelchair kids and things like that. So the high school construction
009class rehabbed it for us and we have Mr. Art Fresh here to talk about that for us. >> Good evening. Um yeah, so we took on that project last spring. Actually, Officer Mcorder came to us. He's like, "Hey, is there anything you can do with that?" So that's part of our evacuation plan, I think, is we're going to go up there. So we made that, not only we re, you know, did it was already in place, but we redecked it, added some rails on it, and then on the front, we made it wheelchair accessible. So now there's a concrete apron on the front of it. So now wheelchair can be rolled across it. Uh the construction guys been doing pretty good. They've been busy all year. So that was our first project. We did um
01021 old desk down at the old white schoolhouse. I don't know if you're all familiar with that. Um they were turn of the century desk and we took them apart, refinished them, left the patina, reassembled them, took them back down. They were extremely happy about that. So the boys got a little bit of refinishing work on that. And then I guess our last project that we're working on now, we're 95% done. We're redoing the softball sheds down at the uh softball diamond, they were in pretty bad shape. the outside of them were the plywood was deteriorating. So instead of building new ones, we pretty much just revamped them. They took the old stuff off, re-roofed it, put new siding on, painted, refitted doors for it. So we've been pretty busy. They've been doing really, really
011good. So along with that, all three of the projects I've implemented like a work environment, so to speak. I give the the class of 12 I assign like a foreman lead man and then he picks a crew and it gives them real world experience. They go out they uh estimate first they make a presentation with the bridges they pres presented that to Mr. Reeves. Uh he was our customer. They wrote the the quote up for that and then we ordered the material. They called out and figure their bill of material and then they assign their workers and they all understand what it's like to be the boss and not have the workers do what they should be doing. They all take that turns and they experience the frustration of that which at times can be
012a little bit of pulling your hair out, but they experience it. Overall, it's a really good experience because that's the way life works. And um we keep it on budget. they understand the uh significance of taking care of your equipment, uh being accountable for getting your part of the job done, things like that. So, they've had a good good experience doing it. So, we appreciate all the support we get. Obviously, all these are off-campus by the way. So, um we [clears throat] do them outside the shop and you know, so again, we appreciate all the support you all give us. So, >> Thank you, Mr. Have you has your class had an opportunity to occasionally walk through the construction project? >> Yes, we have. We we toured that uh last year. We've gone out there
013a couple times. Um and um Donnie, the general foreman, he's talked to the boys a few times. Um but yes, we have on different occasions. I've walked them out and they've been able to witness it firsthand. Now, of course, some places are a little harder to get into, but yes, we have. from the excavation to the actual what they're putting the concrete panels up and the iron workers and things like that. So, that's been a great classroom as well. So, >> thank you again, Mr. Fish. And I just have to say that our um students absolutely love Mr. Fish. He's one of our greatest teachers. So much so that we have um Maro who was here with the volleyball a bunch of volleyball girls actually started taking his class production tu tech and built um
014bird houses and they absolutely love him even so much that they gave him a veterans day present for being a former veteran. So again thank you for your service. >> Um and that just kind of leads into the pathways that we've been working on. So, we have been trying really hard to get pathways and other um vocational things started. So, today um unfortunately I don't have pictures for you because it just happened today, but we've um did our first lunch and learn. Um so, we had a workforce Wednesdays that we have been doing. um it's been about 20 minutes and um so we've decided to take the third um Wednesday of every month and make it a little bit longer where it's 40 minutes the kids and we bring in someone from companies and like
015that. Um so the first one we had happened today um her name is Bonnie Forker. She came from St. Clair County Grants Department and there was some things that she presented about apprenticeships and navigations and things like that. We had 56 students sign up for it and it was a really successful one. So, we continue to hope continue to do this and we have another one set for January already as well. >> Nice. >> So, that's [clears throat] all I have. Thank you. >> Well done. All right, move on to our assistant superintendent report. >> Awesome. It's always hard to go after the building report um because that's where the magic happens with with all the students. Um good things are happening. Um, as you have been hearing, I want to touch base on our
016school report card, which became official um October 31st. I'm sure you've seen it. Three of our schools are exemplary. One is commendable. All of those designations are extremely um well ranked and we definitely have dedicated educators that are doing all that they can for our students every day. With that being said, I'm going to go through a few of the scores with you, but I want to remind you that the cut scores did change from the state this year. And I do have um a graphic that will kind of show some of the differences with those cut scores. Meaning that yes, we have really excellent scores, but I do think like I always say, we can make goals and we can continue to be better and work better for our students. Whoops, going too fast.
017Um so this is just a reminder graphic of the new cut scores. You can see I A which is third grade through 8th grade, ISA which is fifth grade, 8th grade. Um that's the science assessment and then ACT which is your high school. Um all of them have the common language of proficient. Um and they all are very much aligned. The next graphic shows a little bit more of the old cut score versus the new cut score. So, we look at fifth grade, you'll see the old cut score was 750. Um, and the new for ELA is 739. Um, they needed to do a better alignment of the scores, which then shifted some of these scores and how they look. This is a great baseline for us, but I always say you start with a
018baseline and then you plan your goals accordingly and you continue to work towards that student achievement. If you look at Park View, one of our exemplary schools, you'll see that you have your ELA scores and your math scores. Um, very high scores. With this being said, one of my thoughts on on building some goals is you'll see that these percents include proficient and above proficient, which used to be meets and exceeds. I feel like one part of that percent that we could aim to work towards improving or making higher is the above proficient. we have a really big proficient amount of students. So, how can we shift some of that and start helping some of the students get to that above proficient? Again, these are excellent scores. Um, we're almost to the 90th percentile in
019fourth grade in ELA. I again, really great things are happening here. Um, we have CMS. Again, great things are happening here. You'll see that science is only for fifth and eighth grade. Like I said when we started the presentation um our scores again very good scores good things are happening in the classroom and our students are understanding. When I think about setting some goals I think again that above proficient could be an area that we try to aim to move the mark. Then we have our ACT scores. Um again very good. And remember we first started the ACT. This is our first time switching from SAT or baseline. We also have started using the Horizon's program which is that ACT program which is going to be um used in the classroom even more this year
020to see if we can improve those scores continuously. When I was looking at these scores, I did um I always look for areas of growth. Again, we're doing amazing things, but some parts and pieces that kind of stuck out to me was the fourth grade math to the fifth grade math. We have 87% there going to 44. What are we missing there? And you'll also notice that's the bridge from Parkview to the middle school. So again, it's that vertical alignment. We need to start having those conversations amongst grade levels to see what are you teaching, what am I teaching, how can we continue to to bridge that gap. Um, another gap was the seventh grade math to the eighth grade math. Coming together and collaborating. Um, second grade ELA to third grade ELA. again, both
021high. Um, the third grade was at 74, but thinking about the 80%s that the other grade levels were making at Park View. What can second grade be doing? What are we missing there? Um, and again, I already touched on this. I feel like one area we can always work on is trying to go move the mark to above proficient more. Um, continued ACT support for the high school and again vertical alignment for all grade levels. Any questions on the school report cards? Very proud of our district. Very proud. Um our October half day, um we had some great things going on. We actually had our first time ever doing educational podcast. Um something that you learn about professional development is allowing people to kind of choose some of their paths to grow. So, I had
022a list of podcasts and different instructional strategies prepared for the teachers and they were able to choose what they learned that day. Um, we're always working on safety. Officer McCarter, Mrs. Vinnie, Mrs. Miller, and Mr. Dugan attended a reunification training in St. Louis um on November 6th. So, we're working towards that, getting those plans set in the district. I was able to attend the CMS Veterans Day celebration at the middle school and it was truly amazing. Um both principles, Mrs. Miller and Mrs. M, went above and beyond for our veterans. Um and it was an honor. One of my favorite songs is the um medley for for all the armed forces and I was hoping they would play it and they did. Um so that was one of my favorite parts. Um, the only other
023thing I wanted to touch on before I end my report is I did have the opportunity to go to the Collinsville Career Center today and tour it with Mr. Reeves. Um, just some highlights. They have a CNA program that is endorsed by Anderson Hospital. Um, so Anderson Hospital renovated their classrooms to mock an Anderson hospital room, which I thought was pretty cool. Um they have a cyber security um program for students which allows you to get two security certificates and they pay for it in the program. Um building trades like Mr. Fris is talking amazing things are happening here. Um in addition to that they build houses. Um so some of their the Tanglewood subdivision in Collinsville their students will go and build a house in that subdivision. Um it was it was pretty cool
024to see some of the things that were happening. Um, the other thing I really appreciated about Collinsville Career Center is they appreciate internal programs. That was their thing. They want to complement what we're doing here to help our students get into the workforce and join some of their partnerships that they're already connected with. Um, I also have more news fresh off the press that Mr. Reeves informed me about. we possibly have two pharmacy students um that will be doing the registered uh pharmacy tech program that we had talked about at the end of last year. So, a lot of good things are happening and I'm I'm very excited. >> Any questions on our superintendent? >> Yes, sir. I get the [clears throat] exciting stuff. Um if you've noticed, we've not uh approved an audit yet.
025We're hoping to have the audit approval in December. Main thing with that is because of our federal grants, we do need to have a single audit. The government shutdown stopped the auditors from getting the uh supplemental materials out. Now that we are back from the shutdown, hopefully we'll get those submitted. Uh they are going to come out and do the single audit the week of Thanksgiving, Monday and Tuesday. And so we're hoping by December we'll be able to have an approved audit for you to approve. Nobody in the state's been able to do any of their audit approvals. So, we're all we're late getting it submitted, but we're late getting it submitted because we can't get it done. So, um it'll come. Uh skid steer third times the charm. We found a really good skid
026steer for an amazingly great price and um the price was too good to be true. That one fell through and then we found another skid steer that was about twice as much but a lot of very low hours and that was still a good price and and that one fell through as well. And so we are working on the um finding that third best and we're sure that the third time's going to be the charm. We also have the bids out for the driver's ed car and the trailer for the skid steer. So uh we're moving along but that's pretty much it for this month's superintendence report. >> Perfect. All right, we'll move into our items for action. The first one is the 2025 school year, I'm sorry, year service record. >> Yes. And Mrs.
027Bowens did a wonderful job um going through this with Dr. Gayy. And so administration recommends the board approve the 2025 year service report. It basically lists the people with their years of service. >> Perfect. Any questions on the years of service record? Questions? Hearing? None. Maybe like to make a motion to approve the 2025 year service record. >> I'll make a motion. >> Thank you, Lisa. Second. >> I'll second. >> Thank you. All in favor? >> Any opposed? Any abstensions? Perfect. All right. Second one is the 2025 tenative levy. Tax levy. >> Yeah. And we do this in November and then we do it the final one in December and I file it with the state with the county. Um our tax levy is an extension. We say this is the amount of money we'd
028like to have this year to keep our programs going. We always raise it 4.95%. If you do 5% or more, you have to have a hearing. Um, currently with our fund balances, I don't think that we need to do that. Our tax rate is is low. A lot of the uh surrounding schools are wondering why. Part of that has to do with our EAV growing. We've had some uh tiff districts that came off and and that grows your EAV. And when your EAV goes up, your tax rate goes down for the same amount of money. It's a mathematical problem. But anyway, the extension is going to be 4.95% as we've done the last five years since I've been here. And I think even before that, um, administration recommends the board approve the 2025 tenative tax
029levy and next month we will approve the final one, which will be unless I hear anything from you complaining, it's about the same. So, >> well, any questions on the tenative tax levy? Hearing? None. We'd like to make a motion to approve the tenative tax levy. >> I'll make the motion. >> Thank you, Tyson. Second. >> I'll second. >> Thank you, Kelly. Roll call, please. >> Pimpkin, >> yes. >> Friedrich, >> yes. >> Corey, >> yes. >> Search, >> yes. >> Moyer, >> yes. >> Schumacher, >> yes. >> Meyer, >> yes. Much carries. Item C is the intergovernmental agreement with the city for the school resource officer updated. >> Yes. And those were some changes in the states. The um making it more difficult for a SRO officer to issue tickets. Um that was sad
030for us because the vaping tickets really did seem to help. Uh I believe everybody that got a ticket for vaping at the school never got another never got caught again. So that is good news. Uh this is an updated IGA with the city for our school resource officer. I recommend administration recommends the board approve it as presented. >> Any questions regarding the intergovernmental agreement? >> So I one question in there it said um I believe we pay 75% of basically what the cost is for but we get 42 hours a week estimated. Is there a reason why we pay 75% if we're getting full as full-time basically a full-time resource? Is it just the city? >> I think it's because summer. >> Okay. >> So, we don't do 100% because we It's the summer. Yeah.
031>> Okay. Good question. >> Yeah. I was just like, why aren't we paying 75? >> I'm pretty glad I got an answer. [clears throat] >> Impressed both times. >> Any other questions? All right. Hearing none. We like to make a motion to approve the intergovernmental agreement with the city. I'll make a motion. >> Thank you, Adam. Second. >> I'll second. >> Thank you, Lisa. Roll call, please. >> Meyer, >> yes. >> Shoeacher, >> yes. >> Search, >> yes. >> Moyer, >> yes. >> Corey, >> yes. >> Himkin, >> yes. >> Fredick, >> yes. >> All right. It seems awful early, but we're going to talk about the 202526 graduation date. >> People will say it's early if unless you've got a senior that's graduating and you've got family that's coming into town to to celebrate
032it. We like to try and get that out there as early as possible. The recommendation from administration is Sunday, se May 17th at 100 p.m. And that would be May 17th, 2026. If you looked in the memo with a lot of details, you'd notice it would have said 2025. So, I'm just correcting that uh before Mrs. Schumacher tells me it was the wrong year. Um, you did get an email today. We got an email today. I forwarded it on to Mr. Sharon and he was copied in it, superintendent at Waterl. I don't know when their graduation date and time is. Um there's just it's it's it's hard to coordinate and make sure it works for everyone. Um >> can I? >> Yeah. [laughter] >> They're meeting two days before ours which doesn't help. [laughter] >>
033What What is plan B if it rains >> Inside. Same date and time. >> Same date and time. Yeah. >> Will that be in the auditorium? >> It would. >> No, because it auditorium only seats 460. That's right. >> We have a lot more bigger auditorium. >> We are looking forward to possibly Mr. Reeves has said in the future we might always just set it up for the um competition gym because we can fit more people in that. >> Um that'll be a decision for down the road. But so this year it would either be outside or um >> in the in the current gym. Huh? I said outside is >> outside is beautiful. >> It is >> and hot. >> Yeah. Anyway, administration recommends the board approve Sunday, May 17th at 1 p.m. for
034graduation of the 2026 class. >> Any questions, concerns, or comments on May 17th graduation date? Hearing none, we like to make a motion to approve the graduation date. >> I will make that motion. >> Thank you, Andrea. Second. >> I will second. >> Thank you, Lorine. All in favor? I. >> Any opposed? >> Any abstensions? Perfect. All right. Last item for action is a big one. The consideration of a special covenant agreement as presented to the career center of southwestern Illinois intergovernmental agreement between participating districts and to permit and authorize an intergovernmental agreement to build the suit lease with Swick for the development of and occupancy of a new campus and the facility for CCSI operations. Dr. Dr. G, I have a feel you might walk us through this. >> Yes. Yes. So, um I
035did send um you a document of information um that I compiled based upon the information I received with CCSI and other uh districts that are currently in the cooperative. Um based upon the information that we received, um there's still a lot of unknowns. We don't know [snorts] how many districts are going to be part of the cooperative. We don't know how that's going to affect the district assessment fee. Um, and currently we have three students attending CCSI. One more will attend um second semester, but it's all for alternative all day um school programming and our push right now is really for the vocational and we we could have other options for the alternative school setting if we did need it. Um, based upon all of that, I I then connected with the Collinsville Career Center.
036Um, it is much more fiscally responsible for what you're able to have students do there on the vocational level. Um, for instance, using the numbers I have right now, if we had four students go to Collinsville, it would be $11,000 for the whole year. Um, and they're able to drive to Collinsville because normally juniors and seniors would attend. um if they needed transportation, the district um could send transportation. That's $11,000. If we were to use the updated numbers for CCSI for four students next year, it would be $88,565. Um that's just a big difference. And so, as you saw in my in my recommendation, I do think that we I'm recommending not to sign the lease. Um, and then really work on our internal programs and connect with other surrounding districts to build our vocational
037practices for our students and work on finding and using other alternative um, school measures for students that might need that. Any questions? >> Did I read correctly? Is Collinsville actually closer than the current CCSI >> by 10 minutes? By 10 minutes. >> It's not a ton, but it is 10 minutes closer. >> 33 versus 33. the CCS side we pay based on our school size not how active we are in the program right so correct >> if we have one or 50 >> correct that is our percent that we pay yes so and that was also something that like Valmeer um is three I think 3% and they could be sending 20 students but we are sending three students and our percentage is is over 17%. So, and like and I even met with CCSI
038the director Stephanie Warren. I was very upfront with her. I said,"I am not opposed to being a part of this cooperative, but I want to know how you're going to network with us and help our students become part of these programs." And I reached out twice and I asked for a course catalog because I had Collinsville's course catalog and I wanted CCSI's course catalog to cross reference and all they had prepared was the flyer that I linked into the document that I sent you. And then she did get back to me and and said, "I don't have a formal course catalog." She did send me a list of classes, but it wasn't anything like a course catalog to the offerings that they can give students not not in the alternative setting. So without a recommendation
039um someone can either call a question and and make the motion and it can be voted down, voted up or we can just let it die on lack of a motion if no one feels >> well actually the the infraction is the consideration. So we need to we need to take either let it go or take action on >> the consideration. I would probably make a recommendation to not enter >> into the agreement >> and then so a yes. That's where it gets confusing. [clears throat] So basically what you're saying is is you'd make the motion to not enter into the agreement >> To decline the agreement and then if there's a second then yes votes would be we are not to decline. Yes. Yes. Okay. >> All right. I believe we have a motion
040on the table. >> I make that motion. >> Thanks sir. Do I have a second? I'll second. >> Thank Kelly. Let's do roll call, please. >> Pimpkin, >> yes. >> Moyer, >> yes. >> Corey, >> yes. >> Fredick, >> yes. >> Meyer, >> yes. >> Search, >> yes. >> Schumoker, >> yes. >> Perfect. >> So, the motion passes to decline the CCSI participation. >> And I believe also other districts are opting out of CCSI as well. >> Yes. Official. Freeberg was official last Thursday. Dupo was official um last night. And so, we would be the third. [clears throat] And what does it take to get in partnership or join the Collinsville program? >> What do you mean? Say that again. >> What do we need to do? >> The Collinsville. >> Oh, great question. Um,
041we would need to let uh Mr. McInness know he's the director um by December and then they take it to their superintendent board because they're ran by a board of superintendent, which if I joined the partnership, I would participate in that. um they would then approve it August of next school year and our students could start applying the spring of next school year for the following um 2027 to 2028. >> Mr. McInness did offer to come and present to the board in December if you'd like to hear from him. Um so if you think you would be interested in that, let me know and I could see if I could get him to come in. If not, I could just let him know we're interested and move forward. However you want to do that, >>
042I think I'd be interested in hearing from I don't want to I don't want to get rid of the opport the opportunity. I just want to make sure we're aligned with the proper one. >> Absolutely. I would love to invite him in. So, I will um see if he can get on the agenda to speak to us in December. >> Perfect. >> Thank you. Thank you for all your work on that. >> All right. We'll move on to our discussion items. The first is the facility study. Um yeah, the gym is popped up. We've got walls. They're starting to put the iron, I believe, in this week. I have not had a chance to go by it, look at it, but uh the gym's going. The the auditorium we are looking to be able to
043have our next play it in the auditorium and that'll be February, March. Kids will be in there. So, >> it's cool. We've been kind of hammering on the schedules for the completion of the auditorium and it's looking like our latest information is mid midFebruary that we're hoping for >> that. Yeah. Where we'll have the seats in so we'll actually be able to seat audiences and whatnot. So >> again bearing construction delays and supplies and that sort of thing but >> there will be no delays sir. [laughter] >> All right. >> They've got >> you heard it here first. >> Some of the steel up for the roof supports on the gym. They were doing that today. >> The back is now blocked off from 8 to 2:30 so no one can get back there because
044>> the crane >> all of it. >> Yeah, they're still pouring concrete for the for the front vestibule area and then putting the steel up for the roof and the cranes inside and then working on the CMU walls between the current locker room and the new gym. They're finishing that all up. over there. It's It's a busy beehive during the day there. So, >> it is. And it looks like the uh all the workers are full crews and spend a lot of time there and making a lot of effort. So, making good progress and hope it continues. >> They've been working weekends, too. >> Yeah, they've been working a lot of Saturdays. >> A lot of Saturdays. >> I think last Saturday there was 14 drywallers in the auditorium by itself. >> It's crazy. >>
045But there's five layers of drywall. >> It's going faster. Let me show >> both. Both. It's both. >> Both. >> Well, they don't want to deal with your principal, Mr. Reeves. He >> He is a He's a schedule stickler. Let's say he's task. [laughter] >> That's right. >> Thank him for that. >> All right. Anything else? All right. Move on to his favorite part of the time of the year, the delegate assembly items. >> Mr. Search is uh registered to vote as you all see fit. This is actually probably the easiest discussion item for this delegate assembly because there's nothing on there that's really controversial. This is a good year. >> The the school bus safety funding is basically saying that they should support funding for the unfunded mandate regarding the changes they're making in
046transportation. So um >> so for everybody in the audience at home, the state mandated that school buses now have to have shoulder and lap support or restraints which but it's an unfunded mandate. So there's no money for it. So all the school districts have to find a way to incorporate these into buses and I think the estimate was 7 to $18,000 additional per bus. >> So just bolt them on >> and then I think from reading from reading the and Andrew can correct me. I think the statute says 2031 and newer. So we don't have to retrofit old ones. I think we just have to go >> buy forward as we buy new ones. >> Correct. Correct. You guys want to go? Most of them are constitutional amendments, the first 10. >> Yeah. Is there
047anybody that that is a wants to advocate for not asking for more money on buses? So, that'll be a yes for Tyson. Yes. >> Mandate. Show me the money. [laughter] >> Exactly. >> And you're right. The next 10 items are >> Well, actually, the first 10 items were the constitutional, but you got ahead of me. It's fine. >> Well, there's your problem. >> To me, this one's the first thing. Oh, >> okay. I was going by the main thing. Gotcha. >> I'm going by the little cheat sheet that he gets to fill out. >> Gotcha. All right. Next 10 are constitutional amendments. And we have a problem with any of them. That's more housekeeping. Just kind of a thing. So, again, for everybody watching, what these are is the ISBA has a constitution and they
048update it as laws are passed. They have to update language just like we do with our press passes and our board policies and that sort of thing. make sure everything is up to date. So, I think most of it appear to be housekeeping. So, >> yeah. >> Anything else? Okay. So, I guess the consent to the board is recommend. Yes. Yes. Yes. On everything. >> Got it. >> As the easiest one we've ever done. >> It is. >> There's usually at least one or two that we're pushing back on. >> Exactly. >> That has to change her mind on. >> I did forget to say in the um superintendent report that we will have executive session, but no action after. >> Okay. Fair enough. All right. Next one. Individual board member comments. Anybody have anything
049they'd like to say to this evening? >> Uh I would say the people from the uh I guess the theater program or whatever we call it. Um drama club was put on a an outstanding performance. Um anything goes. They did a really really good job. And it was also nice to know that that's going to be the last high school production in the middle school. [laughter] So, but I just wanted to give a shout out to the >> It really was. I think it was one of their best performances yet. >> Yeah, they did a really, really good job. So, >> I do want to give condolences to Chris Robinson's family as well. I mean, he's he's done a lot, I think, between all the schools and just the district. And so, that's a that's
050a hard that's a hard loss, but >> I want to thank him just for the time that he's taken. He's done a lot, you know, with our school and Dupo and so I just want to acknowledge that and >> I will have to say some of our kids took it pretty hard. They said he was great and is a mentor to everyone. So it is a hard loss. >> Um for those who don't know, you guys want to know, >> he is the electrical teacher. >> Yeah, he's the electrical teacher at DuPo. And so we send um a good amount 20 kids over to Dupo um that are there for two hours that were being taught by him and he passed away. >> Yes. And he unfortunately passed away >> unexpectedly last night. >> What?
05149. >> Unexpectedly. >> 49. And he had such a tremendous impact on students. Huge impact. I mean even the Dupo superintendent said it he was interwoven into so many different parts of Dupo school district. and he attended our freshman locker night and open house at the high school. He was just in it for the students and tremendous loss. >> This program just started and our our boys and one of our girls have made such a connection with him. >> He paved the way for that with Colombia and bridging that gap, right? Am I correct? Okay, we'll do that. And it's unfortunate and if we could please keep his family in our thoughts and prayers cuz >> he had six children >> and and so you know and they range from kindergarten to to college. So
052>> one of his sons does attend here. >> Well he comes here for class. >> Uh he comes here for our ad class. >> He's a freshman. >> Yes. >> Tough loss for sure. Anyone else? Board of President's Prerogative. I'm going to use a minute tonight. Um, lighten the mood a little bit. And I want to recognize our superintendent team. And, uh, you guys really do so much behind the scene that I'm privy to because I have a lot of communication with both of you. And I know the public doesn't have a whole lot and the board has limited. I mean, they're really good at communicating, but Dr. Dr. Gy just does such a good job of of maintaining day-to-day operations. His door is always open. He's willing to talk to anybody and it's just
053a really refreshing. We made a really good move when we hired Dr. Grody and I think we made an equally good move when we promoted Dr. Gainy and brought her in and just like the CCA CCI thing, she's looking at not only they just don't deal with problems, they look for ways to improve and and as you guys noticed from the the scores, the test scores, they're looking for patterns and way to improve it. And Dr. G just grabbed the bull by the horns and uh just doing a wonderful job. So, thank you very much for all you do behind the scenes. I know you guys don't get recognized very much and but uh it it really is noticed and that's why we have such a great district not you know from the top down.
054I mean administrators, teachers, support staff, everybody here just really cares and it's it's really nice to be part of this district. So thank you for all you guys do. All right, as Dr. Grody alluded, we do have an executive session tonight. All three or just one? >> Just one. >> Which one? >> The first one. >> Okay. For the purposes of appointment I'm sorry for the purposes of the appointment >> employment employment and compensation discipline I need to put my glasses on the problem performance or discipline of a or dismissal of a specific employee of the public body to hear legal counsel for the public body including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against the public body or employee of the public body or legal counsel for the public body to determine its validity pursuant
055to 5CS120/ 2C1 >> Period. Thank you. [laughter] Thank you so much. >> That was hard. I know, right? I know. I know. It's It's a little >> It's an old thing here. They could Oh, look at that. >> All right. Perfect. >> Feel. >> Would anybody like to make a motion to adjourn into executive session? >> I'll make the motion. >> Thank you, Kelly. Second. >> I'll second. >> Thank Tyson. Roll call, please. We We caught you, right? We just snuck out. [laughter] >> I was trying to hurry up to get you, but no. >> Pimpkin, >> yes. >> Corey, >> yes. >> Moyer, >> yes. >> Fredick, >> yes. >> Meyer, >> yes. >> Schumacher, >> yes. >> Search, >> yes. >> Perfect. going to adjourn into executive session at 7:43 him. regular sessions
0568:00 p.m. No action as a result of our executive session. Last thing do is a motion to adjurnn. >> I'll make a motion. >> Thank you, Adam. Second. >> Second. >> Thank you, Andrea. All in favor? I. >> Any opposed? Didn't think so. Thank you very much for joining us. Have a good night.
