Columbia Eagles vs East Alton Wood River Oilers Varsity Football

001a [Music] n e [Music] he [Music] welcome in ladies and gentlemen to another edition of Columbia Eagles football presented by the Columbia quarterback club right here on kchs Alex schlimmer and J Germaine coming to you from East Alton Wood River where the three and2 eagles will be taking on the 1 and four East altonwood River Oilers in another kokia conference matchup Jared been a good week so far this week yeah weather's cooled down a little bit it was a little warmer yesterday and today but uh it's going to be a lot warmer tomorrow at that rib warar I'll tell you that so um but yeah good night for football the rib warar that Jared is talking about if anybody is Bored is located at Aces wild uh right in the middle of town 208 North

002Main Street it is going to be a rib competition starts at 11:00 a.m. uh that's when the Tigers go Tigers play the uh Texas A&M and uh rib war starts at 11:00 after that band starts playing at 1:00 competition is going on up until 4:00 with the awards starting at 5 so if you're bored come on up to Aces Wild for the rib war and uh Jared anything else going on this week from the uh since we last talk against that big freeberg win uh not really I know there's a couple big blue jay games uh Saturday and Sunday so get down there to the blue J games if you uh got any free time but uh not really that I can think of other than that off the top of my head we had

003our blue jay KN a couple weeks or was that last week that we had blue J KN two weeks ago two weeks ago we had blue jay KN so two weeks ago we had our blue jay night tonight they have their junior Oiler night here in East Alton so Jared Let's uh talk we had our pregame meal this week I believe is sponsored I'm Hudson I'm Mason and thank you to Phoenix House beauty and spa for sponsoring tonight's meal come down and check it out go Eagles thank you to Phoenix House salons and sweets located at 1550 North Main Street it's the old deals property at the far north end of town so uh thank you to them for donating tonight's meal and thank you to Mason and Hudson for getting that done uh something

004cool that we have the players go out and do every week Jared what was your favorite pregame meal that's a good question right there um I might have to go chicken parm chicken parm yeah who made that uh I can't tell you but I I I don't really know or or the cheesy potatoes done by horn bosel mom those are pretty dang good too A lot of people talked about those we uh had washies tonight I believe is where they picked the food up from so thank you to Phoenix hair sweets and Salon and Washi for getting that done so Jared let's talk a little bit about last week dominant game out of the Eagles and uh dominant shutouts they're always fun especially against freeberg yeah and especially coming in I thought they were going

005to run the ball a lot more than they did they threw the ball a ton uh about triple than what they did all season so um and I thought we were going to run the ball ton but we ended up throwing the ball a lot with Mason so um and it was a little it was a rainy night but um we came out on top we kind of up front we kind of beat him up front the whole game so that's really what it came down to I think so we talk about we say dominant you look at uh what we have written we have dominant do your job and finish we our last week's words this week dominant did your job and finished what a week we had 152 yards rushing 178 through the

006air 330 total so we talk a little bit last week or two weeks ago against Roxana we dominated we didn't do our job all the time and we didn't finish so a tale of two different stories in two weeks time great game by the Eagles last week against freeberg yeah and I think coach Herer kind of understood and got the emphasis to all the guys that once you get inside that 20 yard line you need to get points somehow no matter what so um last week we got into the Red Zone and inside the five yard line a couple times and we scored um I think we got stopped one time but um other than that it was overall pretty good for us and now you look at the defensive side of things you dominated

007what more could you ask for in a great game said the exact same words against roxan last week and you look at the defensive side of things though gave up 36 yards rushing 131 yards passing 167 yards total did everything we wanted them to do on the defensive side of the ball yeah and Cooper white led the way with nine tackles two assists um he's been a guy this year that's not the biggest guy on the defensive side of things but he forces everything back inside does his job um every week so I'm always excited to see Cooper player every Friday and uh somebody else said I I don't want to say that I was harping on a lot but cam janick you know he did a couple weeks that thought he' missed some tackles

008missed some blocks but cam Janik had himself a heck of a night last week he was in the back field all the time did a great job and had a great game so there's times that I think I harp on cam but cam you uh insed foot and mouth on me there you had yourself a great game uh we always talk about Hudson getting in the back field on punts him and Cooper I don't know who officially got the uh block or the tip but they were back there and that's how the game started on the right foot right away that's kind of what it's been all year on all special teams I mean you look at Keegan Thompson with the PS I don't think he's missed one yet kn on wood um we've blocked

009I think two or three pun punts all year so um special teams is a big part in any game and I think we've shown up in every game and on the special team side of things so now you go back and you talk a little bit on the uh the game as a whole you look at where you know uh Hudson in the backfield all the time you look at cam in the backfield defensively coup making big open field tackles everything on the defensive side of the ball worked good then you talk a little bit on the offensive side of the ball Logan Hicks somebody Who as a Southmore started as a wide receiver then he was asked become a center then they moved him to a running back and now this year running back

010wide receiver G he's Aug Gadget guy pretty much you can put him anywhere on the field and he's GNA give his 100% every time and he's getting it done no matter what you're asking him to do some of the catches that he's made this year have been phenomenal changing his body around to make the plays so uh doing a great job there and then let's talk a little bit about Mason the last couple weeks I think he's played pretty good football yeah and I think on the defensive side for Mason uh he's normally plays safety but coach Germaine's kind of scattered around on defense a little bit moving him up to like a linebacker position playing with one high safety a lot of the time um so I've i' like to see that Mason getting

011in the mix more um he's got a no great nose for the football so it's good to see him getting the back field as well last week we did it short game 10 yard touchdown pass Mason to uh Jace in the first quarter and then we did the long game too 50- yard pass to Logan Hicks like you mentioned in the field goal Keegan Thompson from 23 yards and then to end the game in the fourth quarter Logan Hicks had a 36 yd run so getting it done short game long did everything we needed him to do and the offensive line I thought played pretty well had a couple spots where I think some things kind of fell apart but in totality pretty good game out of them too yeah and it all starts up

012front like I said earlier but I think the thing with this team that we haven't really had compared to the last two or three teams is we have multiple guys that can make a lot of big plays the last couple years we've had maybe one or two guys um lucky enough to make big plays on our offense sometimes we have five or six guys um that we can get the ball to and they can make uh plays in open field so um I like what I've seen uh so far this year I know I think we have no Hudson Bryant tonight so he's a guy that um played really well all season um but he will be out tonight so but I'm looking somebody else is going to have to step up and that's what

013next thing up next man up we've always said that with pretty much any team that you talk about you hope that you have that ability so we'll see if the Eagles have that ability tonight as you see the junior cheerleaders the junior orer cheerleaders are making their way across a beautiful field here still a natural surface this might be the only natural surface we play on all year might be still has the uh they painted everything out looks good and I kind of missed when we had the Eagle at Midfield at Columbia and I walked down there in pregame and they're it feels nice too so yeah well it looks good they got Oiler Nation painted across big Oilers logo at Midfield takes up about 20 yards there it looks good so and uh after

014the monsoon that we had had last week field still in good shape yep Eagles fans are starting to make their way across they had some tailgating going on today so they're making their way to the field now and uh let us know where you're listening from when we come back from a quick commercial break we will talk about the Oilers tonight we'll talk about the conference how things are shaping up and tonight's matchup between the Oilers right here on kchs he [Music] the [Music] welcome back to kchs presented by the Columbia quarterback Club look at the Kia conference the way it sets up coming into this week Bree Central leading the way 5-0 2-0 in the conference Roxana 4-1 2-0 Columbia comes in 3-2 1-1 Salem 1 and4 1- one East Alton 2 and3 0

015and2 in conference and then freeberg down there at the bottom of the conference in last place 1 and four 0 and2 and Jared this is kind of where we started and predicted this to be setting up this year yeah we did um and this is a game for the Eagles that I mean usually you think you're going to win but you can't have that mindset whenever you're on the road in a conference game um especially if you were a part of the team that was two years ago that had to come here so um you never know what can happen we lost that game 2213 I believe um Heartbreaker fumbled twice inside the 10 yard line I think so um definitely got a bad taste in our mouth coming back here I'll tell you that

016you know I understand where you get it cuz your dad we can ask him hey what was the score back in 2003 and he can name the score how do you remember that we fumbled two times in the 10 cuz I just I don't know you just do huh they just stick out you look at our uh schedule this year obviously just a couple more games we're over halfway through the year now so we're here at East Alton week three next week's homecoming vers Salem so that'll be a fun one then we go to Central and hopefully uh that could be a conference Championship game if everything works the right way and then we finish off senior night against Jerseyville let's look at what's going on this week against all of our opponents Moder day

017travels to Marquette waterl is going to be hosting Jerseyville in an MVC matchup Taylorville goes to or is hosting Effingham then roxan and freeberg I would expect Roxanna to win that game um see what happens though in that game Salem is verse Central I would assume that Central wins that game which sets up a pretty big one next week with Central and Roxanna hopefully Roxanna can pull off an upset and that would take us to uh or no we would want who do we want we would want Central to upset roxan then we got upet Central then we got to upset Central so that could set up for a lot of fun and uh what could be an exciting ending to the season let's talk a little bit here about the matchup that we have

018tonight with East Al Columbia comes into this game and uh has dominated the series and whenever we come into this one Eagles lead the series 9-2 East Alton 565 students compared to our 618 but nine and2 overall that's a pretty good record and we've three and one I believe in the conference I think so yeah last four years I can't remember they just joined the conference then four years ago so that means and I we used to open up with them in week one back whenever I was in high school I don't know if you played them ever in high school only only yeah so I I I didn't I didn't know that we played them multiple times before um they were added to the conference so you look at Columbia streaks 1 and0 uh

019on the road we've got a three- game win streak so that's kind of nice look at some notes here from how we takeaways we're still doing pretty good on that we're plus one plus one plus one even plus two so we'll take put us plus five overall in the season one two three four five yeah so plus five on their takeaways time of possession pretty much been 50/50 all year yeah and part of that game was I think it was the Waterloo game whenever they had the ball probably more than half the game so um other than that game I think we've been pretty in control of the line of scrimmage and holding the ball for good amounts of time Wood River comes into this game last week got beat by Breeze Central 48 nothing

020so uh be interested in to see they come into this game uh we'll just talk about them coming into this season their 92nd season so in their 91 years as a program made the playoffs 10 times coming in at 294 and 500 and 26 ties head coach Gary Heron I'm GNA say butcher names here on kchs most of the time it's his after his nine years this is year 10 for him nine years he's 33 and 49 but he's made the playoffs four times so I think if he's got a team he can get to the playoffs and that was a couple years ago like you were saying when we lost here was a playoff team for him this year East Alton coming in 1 and4 they beat Alton Marquette 24 to7 I believe that

021was week three two or three I think two or three yeah uh so they came in they got that one win there and after that though you look at their offensive side of the football have a little bit of trouble getting the ball moving yeah I think one game you said this year on the way up they had negative 36 rushing yards they did week one vers Clinton yeah so anytime that's on the stat sheet I mean you know the coaches ain't gonna be happy about that so um but I mean I guess Progressive wise you you want to get better every week so um you never want to go in light especially on a road game like I said earlier um and whenever you can uh go up in the rankings uh in the

022conference play that's always what you want as both teams are getting ready to take the field you have the junior Oilers coming across the field right now the Eagles are gathering to our left we're 9 minutes minutes and 45 seconds away from game time and as I mentioned the clock I would like to throw out we have a new scoreboard this week so as long as producer Josh oh gosh we're going to throw his name out there now so if anyone complains about the scoreboard tonight and the clock Josh no pressure Bud none whatsoever you're right so let's talk uh let's go back here like you said the negative 36 yards rushing in week one but then after that 156 187 50 and then 146 last week against Bree Central passing the ball don't do

023it very often um they had let's see where does it talk about it the yards on here oh there you go one yard 87 65 and nine so uh could see the clock moving a whole bunch tonight yeah I would say so too um 850 left here for the game but I think Eagles coming in I mean like I said earlier this is a game that it's almost like a trap game sometimes uh getting later in the season um trying to stay healthy a lot of guys are banged up um so that's one of the main parts coming out of here with a win and then staying healthy tonight's captains are going to be for the Eagles number two Logan Hicks number zero cam janic number 11 Aaron p and number 12 Mason vagley as

024I look real quick for Wood River number two Travis Skinner he is a senior he's going to be a captain number 44 a senior Jake Drake chaplain Champlain is a captain along with number 58 a senior Aiden Wright and number 77 Junior Malachi Carter are the four captains for Wood River Wood River won the toss deferred to the second half so they will be kicking Columbia will be receiving Wood River is going to come out I'm going to call it a maroon and gold on their jerseys Columbia is coming out all white October breast cancer awareness coming out with the pink everyone's ready for the Oilers and here they come they come out like I said in the maroon looks like they have a black helmet on yeah those are kind of sweet they going

025to come out a lot better than their Road jerseys we can see the uh what's going on with their numbers so Jared you're seven minutes away I like the smoke effects down here I mean we I like our smoke but they got color to theirs down here yeah we need a little blue and white action ours lights up blue yeah looks good quarterback Club bought those we'll see hopefully next week we can see them in use we uh could have used them last week but with too much rain couldn't use them I've never seen a team walk out like the eagles are walking right now to the sideline yeah don't look too uh pumped over there no not at all and like you said could be a trap game a let down game and it

026kind of scares you though when they come out looking like that we'll uh we'll see how things go we tried talking to a couple coaches looked like there was a little tension when we were trying to talk to them too so we'll see how things go here six minutes away from kickoff we're going to run to a break real quick and when we come back we'll have the national anthem followed by kickoff right here on kchs [Music] he [Music] n [Music] ch [Music] yeah okay [Music] you there [Music] you [Music] welcome back to kchs as we are now two minutes away from kickoff here in East Alton and we are out here in we're in the elements with them tonight we get to set up alongside the uh Press Box not a very big Press

027Box unique bleachers though I like all concrete bleachers kind of old school feel I don't think we've ever been this far away from each other you you're okay with that no hey but you know what now at least we have these headsets that we can hear each other back in the day we used to uh have to yell at each other and lean into one another to hear hear one another East Alton band just got done doing their fight song they had their tunnel now pulling apart and getting ready for kickoff Jared your three keys for tonight's game uh I kind of said it earlier but number one being uh like it's Trap game I think you got to come in ready uh only a 40-minute bus ride but um you got to be ready

028you never know what that other team's going to get you especially in conference play um and Columbia is known to have a kind of a Target on their back so that'd be my number one two is try to get out of here healthy that's probably one of my main ones too um especially late in the season you don't want to have a guy spraying his ankle or something that could keep you out a couple weeks before a playoffs start um and then number three I would say dominate I think this is a game we need to come in here uh clock needs to be running by the fourth quarter um I want to see a kickoff return right here to start the game off get it going in a hurry and like you said this

029is a game here if you uh if you had rankings and we you mentioned them a little earlier ago or a little minute ago um this is a game that you know you learn a lot on these games you can fine-tune some stuff you're not going to show a bunch but you got to get everything back to where you want to be cuz you know Salem's a game that you never know what's going on not that I want to look ahead but that's a game that can always be close and Breeze Central obviously is another one that can uh always be a big one and I think offense first I think we need to establish something on this first drive um whether whether whether it be the run or pass I just think we need

030to get guys out in open space and uh see if we can get anything going Oilers will be doing the kicking like we said they deferred to the second half number 88 Gavin a is going to be doing the kick in from the left hash he's going to be kicking from our right to left and whenever we make the reception that's when the time will start Josh all pressure on you tonight Eagles football underway as it is caught at the 32 it's going to be downed by Keegan Thompson and the Eagles offense is going to start coming in the Eagles doing pretty well here moving the football Mason coming in 468 yards passing and we've got three guys in Nelson vagley and Hicks with all over 250 yards on the ground so getting it done

031both ways this year Eagles are going to come out doubles to the right side under Center is vaguely Jace motion man turn around fake it to him pitch to the left side great block out of the End by cam janic it's going to be a foot race now 40 30 One play for the Eagles Eagles are going to go 607 yards for a touchdown 16 seconds into the game six nton Eagles and that's the play call we've seen all year coach Horner open up with sending Jason mha and he decided to add a little something else to it with Logan little razzled Dazzle 16 seconds in so Cunningham is going to be doing the kicking now feel like I can't get as excited over here I'm going to get looked at different you know and

032I've often thought that when we sit out in the elements you you try to be a little bit more tame a lot different than in our own little room in Columbia snap Place kick through the uprights good 16 seconds into the game Columbia leads it 7 nothing quick start Alex I was hoping for a a kickoff to be returned but first play 67 yards I'll take it not bad great block there out of Cam janic to the far left and sealed that edge and like you said after that Off to the Races yeah he got to that sideline he was pretty much gone nobody could get a real angle on him see our defense now see if we can come out and get a stop early and try to put some points up early I'm

033not sure if this is the first time that we've had this but first time that I've seen a female official tonight for the game right in the middle of the field so uh like I said I don't think I've ever seen it at a high school game have you not at Columbia at least I don't think so no officials always hurting to get more and more they're always asking for more to come out dtin Harville coming on late for the Eagles number 20 is our 11th guy Cunningham from the 40 sends it deep it's going to be caught nope it's going to drop at the 22 and it's going to be picked up by number two Travis Skinner I thought it looked like he was coming on a little bit harder and was going to

034make the catch but all right see what this defense can do this week it's like Hayden hubard going to be this corner on this side with Jace as the corner on the other side like I said earlier no Hudson Bryant tonight who is known to get in that back field three down lineman K's going to come up is he going to put his hand in the grass he is four down lineman for the Eagles everyone uptight for the Oilers they're going to fake the hand off up the middle and they're going to extend give it to the second back who's going to go up maybe a yard second and nine something that we've seen the first couple weeks too with our Corners I know I said it last week uh you can't get bored with

035the run because you never know little play action pass it right right past you so can't fall asleep if you're in the secondary quarterback is in shotgun he's about two yards deep running back is a pistol back a little bit farther behind him motion man again number two this time they're going to pitch it to him good job sealing the edge for the Eagles in a gang tackle uh led by Keegan Thompson looks like three or four different angles in there Hicks was in there looked like Janik the last line guys to get up bring down third and about five here only uh minute and a half into the game looks like Cam's kind of looking to see where the strong side of the field is before he decides which way he's going to go

036Eagles are going to have three linemen to this side of the center going to be a roll out to the right side with number seven he's going to throw cross the middle of the field it's going to be caught good for a first down number seven's a junior Isaiah Smith completes it to number eight Tyler Adams good for probably 10 yards first and 10 now for the Oilers and I wonder if having three down linemen on the right side of that Center no one it's going to be a roll out that r that way and they're going to have to block down so you're going to be chasing that quarterback but finds his receiver in the middle of the field pick up first down see if they can put a drive together first and 10

037from their own 44 two motion men illegal shift on the offense 5 yard penalty first and 15 we got a pretty good crowd here first and 15 now from the 39 quarterback and shotgun is going to send number eight in motion fake it to him going to boot leg this way throw it into the dirt incomplete second and 15 you look on the other side of the field there Jace kind of got burnt again I didn't think quarterback was going to throw it but number two came all the way across the field was open but like I said I don't know if quarterback can make that throw that's a tough one coming across your body like that yeah especially he was 20 25 yards down field too see what happens on this play Cam's going

038to come over here MUSC Up's going to switch sides with them four down linemen now we're going to have a looks like a blitz out of the edge on the top side this time handed off going to be a Miss tackle in the back field another arm tackle brought down by Hicks and P but after a gain of seven on the play Third and eight look like case was the first one in the back field like you said almost an arm tackle there ran right past him brings up third down though nine minutes to go in first quarter one of those offenses like you said it'll low you to sleep during the play and before the play doubles to the far left here running back left sniffer back to the right we'll call him a

039wing back quarterback straight pass he's looking to the left side he's got intended for number four where it falls incomplete number four the junior Woody Peterson incomplete pass one thing I don't like really on that on the on the clap of the hands it looked like number 14 there for the Eagles hubard he just started dropping back right away and it's already a seven yard your deep now you're 14 yards and the gu's running a slant pattern there's a lot of room in between you yeah that if that's a good ball there he's definitely got the first down and he might have extra but yeah Hub was dropping back like you said as the ball is snapped so we'll see fourth down if they want to punt here looks like they're going to keep the

040offense on the field no trips to the left side running back left quarterback rolling out to the left side Eagles are setting up in a zone that goes incomplete through the hands of the intended receiver who jumped it was going to be intended for number eight Tyler Adams took a hard fall there it's going to be a turnover on Downs Eagles are going to take over at the oiler 47 yd line like Cooper upended in there guy jumped for the ball and C kind of hit him in the legs kind of made him do a flip almost we'll run to a commercial break while they tend to the injured Oiler when we come back we'll have the Eagles [Music] offense of course as we said that we'd go to a break number eight Tyler Adams

041stood up and come off on his own power so that's good we'll see what the Eagles One play 67 yards to start what do we say had the ball for 16 seconds on their first drive we'll see what happens on this one 824 to go in the first quarter good job Josh went through one possession on each team and we're right on time making them work hard doubles to the left side sniffer back left pistol back behind vagle handed off nothing going loss of one on the play that was a slow developing play and I think if Mason keeps that I don't know there was only one guy to beat out here number six I think who was playing in because there was no receivers but loss of one going to bring the two receivers

042to The Far Side of the field now motion man Nelson handing it off to him he's going to have to get around one guy he does now he's trying to read blocks gets up maybe about four yards brings up a third and seven third and seven ball at the right hash big fan of Oiler Nation painted there on the field that looks good you using the wide side of the field here you want to go boundary well having Jace over here makes me think he's going to go Motion to the wide side you sneak him out of the backfield though they're going to motion to him it's going to be kept by vagle keeps one man missed stretches for the first down it's going to be short fourth and one I would imagine the Eagles

043go for it here fourth and one Eagles are going to go for it doubles to the left side sniffer back left four down lineman dead call nothing going coach Warner calls out a new play 20 seconds still on the play clock Bagley takes it fakes the hand off pulls it throws it to Hicks to the outside enough for a first down rolls over the top of number 14 gain of seven first and 10 for the Eagles simple bubble outout on that backside from Hicks there was only one guy over there with the the other receiver going to block the corner no safety in sight so that's pretty pretty simple play call there just get it out to your playmaker and let him get you a first down now we're going quads here haven't seen much

044of a quads look out of the Eagles this year might see a double pass here by Keegan Thompson M from Mason the Keegan right here see what Jared's going to be right nope just going to be a quick now route good read of the block there good blocking for the Eagles first and 10 gain of 12 into the red zone now for the Eagles 555 and Counting we just had more guys over there again had four compared to their two or three Cooper white comes off Ethan hobill comes on he's taking the spot of Bryant Bryant thank you has that tight end doubles to the left side sniffer left two guys in motion not much feel here uhuh loss of five first and 15 now from the 24 someone's probably going to go in motion

045here just can't be both of them again same formation Nelson motion man going to be a quarterback keep to the left side gets up to the original line of scrimmage gain of maybe six going to give him 5 Second and 10 have a listener back home he's listening at home making tater salad well there you go thanks Dad for making that Tater solid for rib War at least we have one fan going to be ball on the left hash just flipped the formation now 450 in the first quarter remaining Hicks motion man to the left fake it bootleg to the right right here he's got the corner oh but he's going to go down to janic at the 10 and he's going to get taken down at the five a little Split Second of patience

046and we got in the end I wanted it good play call there though you've seen couple runs in that formation and Mason just spins out of it has two options to throw it to able to find janic pick up about 15 yards get a first down boy my eyes lit up big there I thought for sure we were going for it looks like we got little eye formation here vaguely under Center takes a snap spins around hands it off to Nelson Gets behind his leads blocks lowers his head and he's going to fall a foot short of the goal line bring up a second goal from the one foot second and goal from the one foot line big number 72 coming on senior Jared Daniels it's a pretty good name great first name a little

047different spelling yeah it is I saw it earlier handoff up the middle quarterback sneak got it touchdown Eagles Eagles go about 45 yards there in about five minutes to go up 13 to zero came down to that what we have fourth and one yeah through that bubble route Cunningham on for the P Mason loves the hard count on these good snap Place kick two for two for Mr Cunningham takes the score Columbia 14 East Alton Wood River zero 336 remaining here in the first quarter Eagles come into the matchup 3-2 East Dalton comes in 1 and4 Columbia one in one in conference I believe East Alton was 0 and2 it's amazing how quick I can forget all that stuff we just talked about it 20 minutes ago I can't believe we're in week six already

048it is fast TJ we haven't talked to you tonight we'll let you off mute for a couple seconds thanks for joining us here once again you're quite welcome Alex thanks for having me how's the camera working tonight good no issues uh a little couple blips here and there but I think we have it worked out well we had one listener text in I guess you zoomed in on Jared's forehead a little bit bit well I was trying to show the crowd and and where we're sitting but that five head kind of took up half the screen wow got in the way all right all right back on mute M back on mute all right hey Jared said it Cunningham going to send it deep for the Eagles last week had a Touchback this time he

049gets a hold of it much better than the last one caught at the eight yd line trying to get to the left side it's number 24 and he's brought down no kept on his feet good play there Coupe got him knocked down but didn't get him tackled Keegan just ran through somebody like absolute ran through him oh is that the guy at the 30 yeah oh with the injury we're going to run to a commercial break as they tend to the injured Oiler and we come back we'll have the Eagles defense on KCs he [Music] welcome back to kchs presented by the Columbia quarterback Club where your Eagles are leading 14 nothing coach Kendall's mom and dad they're listening they listen every week just got a text from them so and ogles be's listening as

050well bees Mrs Herer and and Nick watching so thanks everybody for watching Eagles defense on the field motion number eight fake it to him going up the middle though with the big guy number 44 might have gained a yard no gain actually second and 10 look like steel checked in for hubard at that other Corner position got musk up Mankey Corbin and janic playing that D line like you said janik's kind of just going to the strong side and looks like M or K's going to the opposite side Oilers are going to flip the formation this time they're going to hand it off to number eight who's going wide but has nowhere to go brought down by number 13 Keegan Thompson loss of six on the play future Mrs schmer listening tonight too a got

051to give her a shout out how adorable third and 14 now for the Oilers at their own 19 yd line boy Keegan just stepped up real big there on that play and got in the back field quarterback's going to keep it looking to the left side throws it incomplete pass intended for the official on the sideline here through his hands brings up a fourth and 14 Keegan Tim that Blitz up perfectly I thought he was going to take the hand off walked up during that quarterback's Cadence bring the punt team out 158 left here in the first quarter wind kind of going in the face of the punter a little bit can't imagine they'd want to kick it to jce who's standing at the Oilers 49 High snap punter gets it off good punt that's

052going to land at the 42 and go out of bounds Josh ik you did a great job you started the clock they forgot to start the clock here look at you you got it Jill and Terry the grandparents of Coupe watching the game said the camera work is awesome got my two nieces watching Kobe and kit back home in columia we got everybody Jason Stapleton did an interview with him a couple weeks ago Blue Jay's vice president and the VP of the quarterback Club watching he doesn't miss a game whenever we're on the road that's a good so thanks everybody for letting us know where you're listening from pretty cool doubles are the right side single receiver out left sniffer back left vaguely is in the back field by himself going to be a pass

053play intended for number 22 Hicks under thrown makes an adjustment makes a catch at the eight yd line what a grab Logan Hicks is that hicks or Nelson is it Nelson I think it was Nelson great catch Jace Nelson look we got no one out here on Keegan right now oh my gosh look at this look at this look at this throw him the ball caught by number two Hicks this time at the 10 gets up field gets into the end zone touchdown Eagles quick picking pitch and catch from the Eagles takes the score 20 to zero all set up though by the big long reception good snap good hold kick is up inside the upright that is is good takes the score Columbia 21 East Alton 0 1 minute 36 seconds to go in

054the first quarter we're going to run to a commercial break real quick we come back we'll have the Eagles defense right after this [Music] he [Music] welcome back Cunningham taking his steps getting ready to kick off from the 40 seven backwards three to the the left they do it every time just need to go back it's easy another good kick this time it's going to be caught at the 20 trying to get to the outside good job Once Again by The Eagles hegan Thompson there first followed by Cooper W and mus Halton G to take over now from the 30 Corbin's grandparents are listening once again I believe they were Cinna a couple weeks ago sounds right I think that's where they were got Sam Herer listening from Charleston every week 21-0 here in the

055first quarter Alton East Alton on offense quarterback going to hand it off this time right up the middle nothing going good job there by the Eagles defense getting through the line of scrimmage was number 73 Lincoln Corbin on Q making a tackle and earlier in the season they were kind of CH exchanging in between drives they would go in for one another but now it's nice to have them both on the field at the same time two big boys clogging up the middle gain of three second and seven doubles to the right side running back right wing back number eight to the left quarterback's going to take it hand it off to number two trying to get something going nothing really doing though and there's a slew of eagles making the tackle Coupe was in

056the back field first but then brought down by I believe it was Keegan and muskot look like it 13 gain of two maybe third and five East Alton can run it to the quarter if they'd like and it's looking like that's what they are going to do pretty good quarter if you're the Eagles it's what you want to do you want to get out to a fast start first play from scrimmage yeah can't get much faster well kickoff maybe you could so after one Eagles lead it 21 nothing we're going to run to a break come back with second quarter right here on kchs after this n [Music] see [Music] welcome back to second quarter coverage it's going to be a fake run to the left side with number seven the quarterback who's going to

057get to the sticks plus an extra yard first and 10 had everybody flow into the running back on that one quarterback side the pull it first and 10 from their own 42 yard line like you said you hand it off you you fall asleep you get used to watching that ball goes away you got to stay single receivers out wide running back to the left of the quarterback Wing back to their the right they're going to hand it off up the Middle with the running back number two good push out of the offensive line Eagles made contact at the line of scrimmage but with that push they made an extra four yards second and five you got some big boys up up front for East Dalton look like 77 who was one of their captains

058and then somebody on that left side of the line number 44 is a load too almost like a full back second and six number 44 is going to be a running back now going to be dece backfield tight end right single receivers out wide hand the ball off to number two he's following number 44 gets close to the first down going to be short one yard third and one quivero comes on believe that's Mankey going off third short thirdd short going to watch the football here can't fall asleep if you're one of them linemen up front got Corbin quivero and musop are the front three right now janik's going to be the fourth one on this side so right now he's with the tight end I wonder if that's what he's been following all night

059doubles to the left quarterback hands it off to number two who runs left has enough first first down and a couple more yards after that gain of nine first and 10 from the Eagles 40 yd line Looks like musk up a little slow to get up but he's able to make it to his feet first and 10 from the 40 defense on their heels a little bit right now see if we can get a big stop on first down so they can get second and third long Keegan showing Blitz out of the top of the formation hand the ball off up the middle cam janick gaining nothing maybe one now good job there cam kind of just untouched there off the side on the edge rusher there great job to get in the back field

060only a gain of two under 9 minutes now rolling through a little bit east Dalton's putting together a good drive here had it over three minutes now just in this quarter moving the ball right down the field still Deuce backfield single receivers out wide be a tight end as well hand the ball off to number two who's going to the left nothing going good job there by the Eagles flowing weren't fooled by anything no gain third and long look like hobill and Nelson in on that tackle on that side I'll take your word for it and he comes right out of the game looks like musk up checked back in this is what you want as a defense though those third and Longs against teams that don't really throw the ball too much third eight

061doubles to the right side running back right quarterback's going to look to the right side he's got two Slants throws it to number 17 and it goes off his pads he makes the catch only a gain of about four brings up a fourth and two quarterback takes like a fstep drop back he's throwing it launch that thing 10 yards just to get four yards so fourth down here looks like offense will stay on the field seven getting his play call and in the Huddle see if the Eagles can get a stop fourth and three officially now doubles to the left side running back left sniffer back Wing back number eight to the right play action quarterback's going to roll to the left he's got number six and it goes low is it a completion looks

062like he did catch it it is first and 10 we a whip route there get himself open on the outside Mason looked like it was just playing manto man got beat on that inside went to the outside quarterback rolled that way able to get it to him pick up a first down and they're taking up half the quarter already single receivers out wide going to be play action quarterback's going to keep it himself o looks like he was wanting to get out of bounds but lowered his shoulder though too took an absolute hit I'm surprised it's not a late hit but I think with him lowering his shoulder and kind of bringing the contact on I think if he runs out of bounds right away the Eagles are giving up 15 extra yards 22 goes

063on 44 comes off one big boy coming out for another second eight B at the Eagles 27 single receivers out wide running back to the left wing back to the right hand the ball off up the middle gain of about five brings up a third down and we'll call it four still too much I think think if you're coach Germaine over there you want those third and six third and seven anything inside third and five giving them a good chance to pick up five yards and two downs Corbin comes on quivero went off got a little bit more beef now on the inside boy I like that the two tackles we have in the two ends quarterback hands it off number two a little bit of a counter good for about 10 yards he really

064ran hard left and almost went to a cut back Lane to the right and like you said before the play we had two Edge rushers kind of nobody in the middle of the field only looked like uh maybe Hicks was standing in the middle of the field he the only linebacker one little cut back Lane and he's able to pick up a first down first and 10 now from the Eagles 17 yd line ball on the left hash really keep everything between the tackles they're on the ground hand the ball off up the middle good job there by Logan staying home he's the first one to make contact but not after five yd gain second and five from the 12 they're just keeping it simple running it up the middle wasting a lot of clock

065right now but getting positive yardage 430 already left in this first half Eagles lead 21 nothing River on a very good drive right now doubles the left side dece backfield quarterback hands it off running to the right missed tackle out of coupe right there this time slung back cam using his weight right there and his strength that's hit the weight room right there yeah that was impressive yeah he thought he had himself a first down in gam said nope I think that's senior versus freshman right there too it 24 I think is a freshman 24 is a freshen Mickey shorter third and one doubles on the left side 15 seconds on the play clock get it off hand it off to number two comes up the middle again going to be good for another first

066down first and goal for the Oilers great drive here out of East Alton first and goal from the seven and I want to say they got it around the 40 maybe Midfield they've taken almost nine minutes up in the second quarter Eagles have not touched it in the second quarter lot of confusion out of the Oilers now timeout called on the field we're going to run to a break we come back first and goal from the six for the Oilers right after this n [Music] welcome back to kchs first and goal from the seven a very one-sided conversation with Coach dermaine there in that timeout quarterback hands it off to number two gains a about four yards another positive play though 9 minute drive though that's defense is on the field for a long time

067right now and they do get the ball coming out in the second half so if you can punch one in here make this a pretty good ball game second goal from the four single receivers out wide douche backfield quarterback hands it off to number two right up the middle nothing going though good job there by number 21 for the Eagles getting in the back field not letting go Ethan Hill loss on the play maybe maybe the original one I think loss of one third and goal here I think you put eight nine guys in the Box here and go manto man if they have any receivers on the outside doubles to the left side into the boundary hand the ball off up the middle nothing going once again good job out of the Eagles again

068number 21 making the play for the Eagles is hobill back to the original line of scrimmage fourth and goal now and he's just squeezing from that backside running straight down the line of scrimmage two times in a row there untouched now as much as they've run up the middle up the middle up the middle don't fall asleep here watch a pulling from the quarterback see what happens they might run this clock down and burn another timeout so we can't even get our hands on it in this second quarter and that's what they do they are going to take a timeout one minute on the clock Eagles lead this one 21 nothing big play here for East Alton to try to uh get some points on the board before halftime I don't think I've seen an

06911-minute Drive in my ever to be honest with you that is wild that's impressive to just I think it's only been 50 60 yard Drive yeah because it feels like every time they're getting the fourth down and they're running that play clock down but like I said you score here in the game still Ben don't break mentality is what you're hoping Coach G has here 11 minutes man that last time out I kind of watched them at the end of it nobody else seemed like they were talking he got a point across so you're saying you're going to you're going to pinch in Hill's done great the last two plays see if he can do it for a third I think if you're Wood River I think you just keep running the ball but maybe

070to the outside a little bit they've ran it up the middle almost every play on this drive see if they can get to the outside with one of their athletes this time they're only going to have a single running back quarterback is going to hand it off to him number two behind his blocks into the end zone untouched great job out of East Alton there on that entire Drive gets on the scoreboard 21-6 Thompson has to come out look like they might set up to go for two they're in a huddle they are definitely going for two here doubles to the left side Wing back right running back right quarterback sends a motion man number six they're going to give it to him to the right side good block out of the edge going to

071get to the pylon no out of bounds stopped what a play there out of the Eagles to keep them out of the end zone flag on the play I'm going to assume looked like as a hold yep was in the back field and it is a hold holding offense penalty's declined two-point conversion no good keeps the score Columbia 21 East Alton six 58 seconds to go in the first half like Jared said e East Alton will get the ball coming out of half have you ever seen an 11-minute Drive no that was probably 11 plus cuz didn't they have it at the start of the I think so quarter one or two plays that was an impressive Drive I never seen it I don't think I have either took up the whole second quarter and

072then we could just go down and score in one play yeah sports are goofy like that not saying we have something going on on this play but uh I just heard coach Kendall yelling check check so see what happens if they decide to kick it that deep on that first one it only got to around the 25 30 yard line where Keegan jumped on top of it so and they elected to go for two so you don't know if they have a true kicker that could send it deep I don't know what the officials are all talking to each other about eagles return men is Nelson and Hicks standing at the 15 creeping up now to the 20 number 88 is going to do the kick in he sends it deep it's going to be

073caught by Hicks going to run to the right side trying to get behind his wall of blockers great return out of hicks he's on the oiler side of the field and he gets knocked out of bounds after a fantastic return of about 40 yards he might get faster and faster every game I watched this year using that wide side of the field trying to get your wall built on that side able to get across Midfield with 48 seconds see if you can sneak out of touchdown here or get in field goal range I don't know if you want to kick right now wind wind is little bit of right to left doubles to the left side running back to the right Nelson motion man fake it vagle pulls it up the middle gets spun around

074to the right side going to get tackled at the 35 timeout [Music] Eagles 37 seconds to go in the first half like Mason was trying to get out of bounds there just got tackled right before he could clock ran about three maybe 4 seconds longer than what it should of that's making up for not running it earlier in the first quarter kind of watch it a couple times it's been on when it shouldn't be off when it should be so it's going to be a gain of seven ball at the oiler 35 second and three 37 seconds beautiful night for football nice breeze coming in cooled down a little bit see what we got going on here looks like we're in quads once again and this is the play I was talking about earlier I

075think Yep they're going to have Jace In The End Zone here in about 15 seconds throws it to Keegan to the left side Gets behind a blocker he gets up gets knocked are they going to call it inbounds or going to call him out of bounds big gain for the Eagles first and 10 from the 22 I'm waiting for him to catch that and Jace just crossed the field Let It Go wonder what his uh max distance is trips to the right side cam out to the right roll out right looking to the middle of the field we got Jace and it's intercepted at the five I do not like that play I don't like that either throwing across the body across the field just take the easy one on the sideline hitch or your

076corner route good play not falling asleep for East Alton but huh so first and 10 for the Oilers now at their own 16 19 seconds to go in the first half penalty on the field Too Many Men clock just ran about nine seconds so there was 18 seconds they ran it to nine then they put 228 back on now they got it to 18 so first and 10 from the 11 now and the ball off up the middle nothing going met right away I believe that was Mankey and I'm assuming that's going to be the end of the first half and it looks like it is so Columbia does what they want to do on offense getting 21 points up in a hurry East Alton dominates the second quarter having an 11-minute drive before the

077pick by vagle at the five and that's how you saw up the first half 21 for the Eagles six for the Oilers we're going to run to halftime going to be an extended halftime here we come back we'll talk a little bit about first half and everything else going on in Columbia Athletics right after this on kchs hey Matt congrats on 25 years on the sidelines man appreciate everything you do for Columbia football always good to talk to you when I was there wish you the best Matt thank you for being part of the Columbia Eagles football program for now 25 years 25 years you've been helping the staff um get ready for Friday nights helping the team um being the best in the business as far as ball guys go um so we appreciate

081ticket winner gets $50 the 150th ticket pull gets $150 and the final ticket hopefully that's ticket number 300 will be I think that's for $300 off the top of my head look on the Columbia quarterback Club Facebook page to find out more information Jared we're here now 8:30 to go in halftime Eagles lead at 216 big band out here with the uh high school kids and the middle school kids both playing some uh some good hits yeah all that first half uh I mean first quarter looked good and then you go to that second quarter and we just our defense couldn't get off the field had a 11-minute drive they took over around the 40 yd line so it's probably close to 12 minutes when they got the ball in the first quarter um but

082took up pretty much the whole second quarter went down and scored decided to go for two didn't get it that's why they only got six but um and then on the other side of things we got the ball back with what 40 seconds left get inside the 20 um and then just a bad not a bad play call but I think just a bad decision by vaguely throwing it across his body throwing it across the field um but overall I mean you always want to be winning at the end of the day so as long as you score more points than the other team so TJ we got you off mute right now you got excited I told you to put the headset on I was going to unmute you and thankfully I didn't unmute

083him cuz he dropped this the headset everywhere would have made a huge Ruckus but TJ welcome to kchs halftime show hey thanks for having me so you've been the uh filmer I guess now for how many years um with the team and all that uh five guess five years so you started when Brennan was a freshman JV yep nice so do you enjoy it what is what is your your what do you like most about the filming uh the fact that nobody else wanted to do it to be honest with you made you feel important huh yeah no I enjoy it keeps me busy I I pace and get nervous during games and this kind of keeps my mind out of it so you don't get nervous now as nervous no I more worried about

084screwing up the camera than I am about my kids well that's good well luckily knock on wood there's none up here everything's concrete but he hasn't screwed up yet tonight so let's hope that that's kind of want to show everybody the conditions that we're dealing with yeah we're sitting out here in the elements producer Josh out here and then Jared's oh good he's got he's got the Hat on so he can't see the forehead anymore but uh sitting out here in the crowd very good crowd here at ealon there tonight for for the home team and you got to show them our tabletop here too we got yeah are fine uh yeah our fine uh Furniture we're doing good you know yeah this is what makes it fun though I mean we could can always

085be in an indoor Press Box but how boring would that be just sitting in the air conditioner heater you know well this gentleman right here uh turned to Josh earlier and said he's sitting next to us so he can actually hear you call the game so he knows what's going on nice CU his wife's nagging at him the whole time he said well good deal all right 5:30 here what do you think's going on over in the uh Columbia side of halftime over there they did not run back to the locker room they just stayed here and hether talk here on the field who me yeah you're not muted no more remember um I don't know hopefully uh coach is telling him to to not relax just because they were expected to win this game

086that uh it's not a given Jared what's your thoughts here uh I know coach Germaine ain't happy I'll tell you that anytime there's an 11 minute drive in any level of football I mean that just that's not pretty right there so definitely going to have to make some adjustments whatever adjustments um they are um I think number two had about 14 carries on that drive alone so um they were getting the fourth and one third and one every every time they'd get a first down and then they pick up another one so I mean overall you got to give them their flowers uh for making this a good ball game Eagles here getting ready like I said we still got that three minute buffer that they have to put on so we really have seven

087minutes to go Columbia traveled pretty well here tonight over on the sideline it's uh a luxury that you know you kind of forget about whenever you're making these road trips now just to see how many people actually still come to the game I mean it's great that we have this going on for the broadcast that for the people that can't make the trip but it's cool though that still have some people that come down and make it so uh TJ let's talk you've done this for five years now you started though with the team and you were the filmer on the endzone camera so tell me a little bit about that so everyone always sees what goes on from the side Eagles have another view that they get to see from the endzone as a

088team as well yes uh there is a gentleman sitting down there that uh films from The End Zone and uh it's not the best view in the world you just kind of uh bring your lawn chair though follow the play yeah you get a lawn chair nobody's bugging you but uh and you have to film a little differently instead of film filming as a fan you have to film as a coach and that took me a little while and a couple of uh discussions from coach her to film correctly because you just uh you want to follow the kids's run and watch a kid make a good play but the coach wants you to zoom out a little more and kind of see what the the guys that aren't involved in the play are doing

089and and if they're uh following with their blocks and all that kind of stuff so it takes a little bit to get used to so now do you have all that stuff set up when you get here or is that something that you have to set up as well uh when coach Kendall remembers the uh the equipment it's all set up and ready to go he sets sometimes he's had a what was it modern day this year w we forgot a camera just giving him hard time and I think they said they forgot a record tonight too so oh really and you know what we can we can joke because we didn't bring one thing in week one didn't have one thing in week two wire break screwed up in week zero like you know

090what happens Tech and even though it yes and they have very good technology and very good equipment it's still if the Wi-Fi isn't great it doesn't work and and that what those cameras do is they uh the coaches that have the iPads on the sideline they get to rewind every play and tell who which kid they need to chew their ear ends because they didn't make the block and stuff like that so it's very help helpful to the coaches and so you're a very important man no no oh well I thought you were I was trying to give you a little credit there I appreciate it but no not at all it's funny that you mentioned you know they get the iPads and all that watched a guy on Tik Tock big Tik Tock fan

091here and uh they have there's a team in Te TI Tik tocker yeah no I don't make the videos I just watch them um but there is a team down in Texas the coach talks they have 12 iPads on the sideline it's a high school football team I think we have two well who did we lose to in the playoffs two years ago Sacred Heart yep uh that was three years ago two years ago uh yes Murphy at Murphy they had an entire entertainment center set up I'm not kidding you set up on the sideline and after the play the kids would run over and they would all like sit on a couch in front of a TV and watch the play it was unbelievable they could wheel it around and yeah it was pretty

092neat I didn't even pay attention to that I don't remember that happening that that would be awesome and we you know but that's a program that doesn't have a ton of guys going both ways you know it would be cool if we had it but yeah um nine or 10 of the guys play on both sides of the football right yeah it was a luxury to have the defense sitting there watching several plays while the other group was out on the field all right we're going to run into a commercial break real quick final four minutes here when we come back we will have the Eagles defense will be on the field first as they will be kicking off on CS [Music] n [Music] a [Music] I [Music] you [Music] you [Music] n [Music] welcome

093back to kchs we the Eagles are getting ready to kick off Cunningham going to be doing the kick in once again Eagles lead this one 216 to start the third quarter Jared give me one key now of the three I'm going to say defense get off the field can I can I use the same one cuz that was the main thing I guess so first half shock kicking it right to left this time good kick going to be caught about the 16 F still kicked around still bouncing around Eagles are motioning that they have it white hat says we do let's go looked like the guy catching it went right through his arms then he kicked it right to us about 10 yards in front of him did we see who recovered the I did

094not TJ had a listener say you have one job make sure the correct quarter is up on the board couldn't even do that a couple weeks ago all right Eagles offense going to start now doubles to the right side ball in the middle of the field starting at the 22 yd line empty backfield motion fake it coming around Hicks to the left side gets through two tackles he's got out number he gets to the pylon he gets to the end zone touchdown Eagles One play 13 seconds 22 yards six points he just outran about three kids on that sideline too had like you said he just gets faster I know that's what I'm saying he had the corner linebacker and safety that had good angles on him he just was a lot faster one for

095the pat snap Place kick oh off the upright dink might be our first dink of the Year good it is and that takes the score Columbia 27 East Alton six 12 seconds in to the second half looked like they could have had Hicks in the back field looked like there was a guy close back there but he's able to get underneath like you said outrun a couple guys and get to the promis land that was the first play we opened up with in the first half get the ball back there after the fumble and run it again two for two on the night is it just me or these uprights extremely long yeah I could agree I wonder if there is a stock height that they need to be there's look it's like skinnier than

096ours do Cunningham sending it deep right to left from the 40 let's do it again and they got a new paint job this this past summer goes through the arms it's a fumble again bouncing around I think the Eagles are going to recover it again this looks like my Madden team this time it's recovered by the Eagles at the 20 yd line wow two kickoffs two fumbles two fumble recoveries run the same play again here Alex the opposite way oh look at you have we run it I don't know have we run it the opposite I don't know our guys probably don't know how to be honest yeah no I'm just joking oh we got the same look how close janx now behind the guard yep pistol back Nelson takes a hand off tries to

097go to the outside bounces back in good footwork good gain nine maybe 10 Shifty footwork bouncing back and forth going to be a second and inches it's crazy how identical those two kickoffs were man yeah doubles to the right side hand the ball off to Nelson to the right nothing really going back to the line of scrimmage third and short now third and one from the 21 clock keeps ticking see if coach Horner wants to go into the boundary again like he's known to do a lot this time going to hand the ball off to Nelson shifts up the middle good for a first down I wonder if that adjustment I don't think we've ever seen janic that close into the tackle guard a more so the guard yeah I don't know if we've ever

098seen him that close I wonder if that's a halftime adjustment must be what they're seeing they must have somebody either getting beat on the uh front line or there's just not enough guys to block could be using him as a wheel kind of guy get him out of there kind of like a kick out guy I kind of like it though if you do want to have a pass play in the future you got a guy there he's going to get lost this time he's going to be out wide like he normally is doubles to the right side fake it bootleg bagley's going to keep it he's going to have to outrun some guys puts his foot in the ground gets thrown down at the seven oh almost caught it ref gain of nothing second

099down and goal they're going to give him a yard p goes off believe that was Hill is coming on second eight now doubles to the right side empty backfield Nelson up front motion man though is Hicks it's going to be another bootle over there he's got two guys open he's going to throw it to the No Man's Land he had the he had two guys wide open a third guy was wide open in the back and he threw it in between all of them like Jace ran the drag route and was the later guy to be open in the middle of the field had janic right out of the back field I don't know who picked up the Blitzer off the edge he almost got sacked right away though it's now your third and goal

100from say the eight and a half yard line probably two downs to score here doubles the right side motion man Nelson handed to him to the outside he's going to try to jump over man gets maybe four brings up a fourth down now from the five and I like that play call getting the ball your one of your best athletes hands just giving open space wide side of the field fourth down though 840 remaining looks like we might bring the kicking team on try to make this a 30 to six ball game and like we've said Alex once you get inside that 20 yard line you want to get points I know six is better than three but as long as you get something on the board out of anytime you're in the Red Zone

101from the right hash up line drive good through the uprights for about a 22 yd kick roughly so that takes a score Columbia 30 East Alton six8 minutes to go only four four minutes taking off the clock do we think we have a third fumble man I think they're putting somebody else back there yeah that's one of those like in baseball it happens when you make one err the next Ball's hit to you you make a second air the next one's hit to you it's one of those that when you don't want it it's going to find you we call those ugly finders sometimes guy who's playing ugly is going to get it Cunningham's going to send it deep again I almost like a little pooch kick over here to like the 30 yard line

102have one of your fastest guys just go and get it bounce around yeah they're 20 yards separating from each other going to be a high kick oh my gosh he's going to fall at about the 17 number six is going to get up the middle and he's going to get slung down at the 27 brought down that time by number 72 I believe that is Dylan Robinson on the tackle so East Alton's offense is going to take over first and 10 from the 28 yd line 755 we'll see right here if the defense figured it out we'll be able to tell on these first two or three plays Alton ended the first half with a fantastic drive and the ball off up the middle nothing going Mankey and janic in the back field cleaned up

103by Hicks and musk up maybe a gain of one looks like almost like our outside linebackers are playing more to the middle since they've running the ball up the middle a little bit more cuz normally they're playing that outside edge forcing everything back in like if you look at Cooper right now and Logan on this side they're playing like inside linebackers almost looks like it's going to be manto man with your defensive backs trying to spread them out a little bit wider going to be a pass pitches great ball out of the quarterback caught by number six goes backwards [Music] though gonna be a third and four now quarterback has a very strong arm it looks like our guys are still dropping back as the ball snapped and they're just running simple hitch and slant

104routes all night it's hard to do that when you start eight yards deep and then to just drop right away now you're 11 yards deep before you even think about it anything head coach taking his time getting the play call in still three possession game third down here I don't know if this is four down territory for them or not looks like they're going to have to burn a Timeout on third down so you hear the back judge right now he's telling East Alton's coaches there's been some issues with the clock all night tonight sounds like the official was saying no play clock anymore yep so no play play clock officials will do that whenever they're having too many issues they'll keep it themselves and that's what happened on that play there was about 18

105seconds still on the play clock whenever it actually was uh out of time so now's a quarterback you got to know you got to switch your eyes instead of watching the play clock you got to watch that back judge and he'll give you a five second five yeah so it's going to be a third and four maybe five we'll call it third and third and four and a half four and a half short five long four empty backfield doubles the left side motion man number six they're going to fake it to him quarterback's going to keep it slant across the middle Falls incomplete intended for number 17 defended though by number 18 for the Eagles I believe that steel was right there to make a play six minutes left up 24 looks like they're going

106to punt it let's go get a block I want to have Hudson out there to make a block Coupe got back there though last week I think he was credited with the tip last week high snap brings it down good punt caught at the 38 yd line with a fair catch that was a weird fair catch signal it was almost like a get away from it but Eagles offense comes back out Eagles take over at their own 38 554 remaining in the third quarter leading this one 30-6 single receivers out wide Hicks motion man fake it to him up the middle this time though gain of about five second and 10 you think the defense made an adjustment at half after that last drive there think they made a pretty good one he has done

107a very good job defensively tonight yeah they gave up the two big plays three big plays but really nothing nothing going on the ground really sides of the big plays got him Nelson was a motion man hard count five yard penalty for being off sides result of the penalty first and 10 got about three guys at jump on that one too on the hard count so first down empty backfield doubles to the right side motion man Nelson up the middle fake it to him it's going to be vaguely to the right side now he's got enough for a good 10 yards and a first down for the Eagles Logan Hicks great job there being basically a lead blocker opening up some room for vagley five minutes left now in this third quarter Eagles up 30

108to six as they are also driving same formation ball on the right hash vaguely going to be a pass play to the left side he's got Nelson on The Middle the field he's got Nelson at the 20 he gets down to the8 yd line great pitch and catch and a great play to get the Eagles down to a first and goal from the eight yd line that's just a play call there where jaay probably goes up to Mason and sees something down the middle of the field on the snap of the ball Jace took off and Mason caught it easy pitch and catch like you said down the middle of the field and we're going a little bit of tempo here on the football already looks like Jace right up the middle only about to

109gain maybe one yard bring up second down from we'll say the [Music] seven under 430 now Eagles trying to punch another one in here Jace Nelson oh it's going to be a fake to Jace Mason's going to scramble out of the pocket he's going to have somebody in the end zone it looks like Hicks catches it in the end zone for an Eagles touchdown great job on the Scramble Play there we talked about it earlier this year when the quarterback scrambles nobody really did anything different they just kept running deep that time Hicks found an open spot he's got himself six points that might be my eighth play bypl ever and we probably scored seven touchdowns off of it ever Mason on for the pat that one right down the middle and it's good that

110takes the Columbia Eagles 37 East Alton 6 403 remaining in the third quarter we're going to run to a break real quick let you see sponsors and when we come back we'll have the Eagles defense right here on kchs [Music] yeah Cunningham to send it deep high kick this time falls at about the 24 picked up by number two good reaction there he takes it to the 30 that ball checked up and it's was a good thing number two was standing there to make the play kind of surpris number two's not back there returning them Matt out there doing a great job as always doesn't have to worry about anything getting wet this would have been a perfect field for him with a wet Knight whipping that Toler around did you see Carl's field last

111week with that monso uh yeah that thing was trashed Sidelines were they were underwater yeah don't run Jacksonville that way get tackled over there trips to the right side running back right they're going to run it to the left nothing going good job there by the Eagles having three or four guys you could hear coach Germaine yelling Sally we won't go over what the play is but that's been a play call I think for 15 years I bet 15 at least minimum yeah he was talking he got back into the he can still do verbal play calls but now he's got the signals yeah we talked about that last week and talked to him this week he enjoyed it having his voice again doubles to the right side like tight in right wing back left

112looking to the right quarterback throws it number six caught great job making a tackle there P nothing wrong with that play kept him in front made the tackle good play good play out of the offense good play of the defense still seems like a lot of Separation though between the secondary guy and these receivers which I know we've been getting beat I'm not calling Jace out but first couple weeks he was letting guys get past him and so maybe that's part of why we're playing about six seven yards off the ball so big third down here third and five fake it quarterback's going to roll musk up on Pursuit forces the throw to be quicker than wanted to be and it falls incomplete intended for number 17 musc's got a lot of speed when he's

113coming off the edge like that and he's got a lot of speed whenever his hands in the grass too got to be careful sometimes when that quarterback's getting ready to throw the ball though when you're coming that quick you don't want to get a roughing the passer only a sophomore so it'll be fun to watch him hopefully get faster and faster Jace standing at about the 37 Eagles get a bunch of guys on the back field nothing can go bounces at the 47 and goes out of bounds all the way down at the 30 221 remaining here in the third quarter first and 10 for the Eagles from their own 30 ydd line leading this one 376 and there six came from an 11-minute Drive I am still man that's still crazy to me looks

114like the eagles are going to go under center it's going to be Cooper as your sniffer cam as your fullback Jace running back up the middle had a good wall of blockers but I don't know two guys got through and are going to be the ones that made the tackle still a good gain now if you're coach owner and if you're Mason vley in the offense try to milk as much clock or if you want to make that clock go a little quicker you score a little quicker so it's running clock but I would take that play clock down to as low as it can get doubles left side single receiver out to the right empty backfield motion man Hicks hand the ball off to the right side he's got a full head of steam

115he's got 10 yards and another Columbia Eagles first down look all the way down at the goal line to our right across the field Miss G is hanging out down there by herself loner yeah she pacing back and forth getting a little TV time tonight though her phone will be blowing up now now she's probably watching it over there pistol back this time believe that's Hicks he's going to keep it himself put a foot in the ground good run gain of about eight second and two from the 49 yard line under a minute now in the third quarter Eagles taking their time getting up to the line of scrimmage we're going to have to one run one play doubles to the right side sniffer right and Janik motion man Nelson hand the ball off nope

116kept by vagle good read and a good run very good run there's a flag down around Midfield from this Referee on this side Chain Gang had already moved is that a hole P their hands to the face I couldn't tell look like it must be a hold 10 yard bring it back second and 10 Eagles going to try to run one more play based on how they're moving real quick trips to the left side empty Back Field Begley takes it rolls throws it real quick to Thompson who's going to make the catch he's got good he's got some speed 40 30 he's got to make number 24 Miss and he's going to get taken down from the back about a 40 yard gain needed to run away from one guy wasn't able to do it

117and that's going to take us to the end of the third quarter any second now the official already wanted the clock going Keegan getting in involved in the offense tonight a little bit which I love to see and it's just been on now routes uhuh let bubbles yeah just let him go which that's all it's all it takes getting your guys in open space and letting them do their work so the Eagles will have first and 10 from the 15 when the fourth quarter starts when we come back he [Music] welcome back to kchs Eagles offense big play by Keegan Thompson takes it down to about the 15 yd line Brennan White a recent graduate of Columbia High School now joins us Brenan thanks for joining us here on kch course Alex thanks for having

118me right here first and 10 what are you going to go with here you think we're going to keep it on the ground what do you got uh up by 31 I mean we're within the 10 15 yards here I mean you got to keep it keep it on the ground just run out that clock eventually knock it in for an extra six I'm going to say we're going to have Thompson in motion here he comes right at us they're going to go to the outside Cuts back in he's got good blocking got himself a touchdown Eagles I didn't know Keegan could move like that look at this only burned four seconds but they can get six more points burn four seconds and four players on the way to the end zone gets to go

119take a breather he doesn't have to do Pats no more good run good play call good block in all around welcome to the broadcast Brennan One play one touchdown yeah snap Place hold kick oh good come on Matt got to catch that one kp's a little late getting over there play out for that one on the track he caught one last week he caught one earlier tonight too I saw I didn't even seeing him do that I got to remember to look for him he's got to try to catch it in his little pouch at one time we just need him to catch it we don't need the pouch so Brandon get to come back you graduated two years ago now or is it three uh yes 2023 yeah so two years ago could have

120just answered and said yeah two years ago yeah 2023 making me do the math so two years ago get to come back and now you get to watch Coupe what's one thing that you miss about Friday nights and being on the field oh everything team meal walking out of the tunnel I mean it all felt it all felt so good it's it's terrible to watch him not live up to the name like he should but shot no he's kicking butt out there I mean it's great to see him it's it's great to see all his friends growing up I mean seeing all of them when they're young and I I love watching it I think I get more stressed now than I did playing out there but it's fun Cunningham's going to send it left

121to right great kick this time going to be caught at about the eight yd line trying to get to the outside it's going to be Keegan though he ain't going to run past him brought down at the 20 yd line 12 yd return Keegan's one of the guys that uh Coupe runs around with a l correct yes he does and that is the goofiest thing because Keegan is one of the most softspoken quiet guys and then there's CP yeah I you need to hang out with Keegan more I think he's not at soft spoking man at baseball he is and you see him at football he's pretty quiet oh yeah yeah he's he's quiet around uh Elders not to say that you're an elder but you're you're of age I'm 30 I'm 30 oh my

122I'm a man I'm 40 oh 40 oh 10 years you can say it in 10 years yeah quarterback takes the snap hands the ball off good job there making a play in the back field believe that's Keegan loss on the the play like quo is in there too muscot Hill loss of two on the play so Brennan when we come back home next week for homecoming against Salem you're a official replay review official sounds like we're going to have a screen upstairs for us now so we can review it right away I think that's a great idea and you came up with it all on your own too uh that's all I've come up with so far but I mean I plan to hopefully help out a little bit more but good job there a

123now route nothing going though on the defense for the Eagles number three The Freshman Xavier vagley so yeah next week I think it'll be cool you having the review up there we've had you a couple times you've had it on your phone and just get a heads up on what you thought so be cool and we get to uh do it again next year cuz coupe's only a junior this year so he'll come back for senior year and you're going to keep coming back and uh being all right absolutely taking sure TJ same thing all right look at that we might have a a full staff here before too long trips to the left side running back left three down linemen quarterbacks rolling left he's going to look for the wheel route out of the

124back field and it goes incomplete this quarterback has a very strong arm I've said that all night and right there I think he just kind of floated it and it just kept going yeah didn't give his receiver a chance either gave the water boy a chance clock stops at 10:06 looks like they're going to punt Jas Nelson standing at about the [Music] 45 oh it's over his head going to go out of the back of the end zone for a safety takes the score to 46-6 the 40 points now makes it a running running clock talk about getting your 40 and you get it right on the dot so with it being 40 points now when the clock starts the next time it will continue to run unless there is a timeout or an injured

125player great job by Columbia defense in this second half I will say in that second quarter I was not worried but just a little upset 11 minute drive is can't have that especially in these next couple weeks when games are only going to get tougher try to do the math on the push-ups tonight been a lot of them Al so they got to kick it from the 20 after a safety huh did not know that going to be caught at the 44 Nelson's getting to the left side a wall of blockers he's going to have to make one man missing he does to the 10 to the five to the end zone touchdown Eagles good wall the blockers there out of the Columbia kick return good running good Vision another touchdown for the Eagles wow

126vernam were you that fast uh have you seen Cooper absolutely not shouldn't the clock still be running right now I don't know up and good so with that this is a this is a rough stat to have to read for those cheerleaders they just got done doing 46 push-ups then you get to uh oh look at them over there they're doing sit-ups now had they done more p push-ups would have been 279 push-ups on the night well that ain't too bad that's terrible it's not that bad yes it is I would go I don't even know if I could do 53 situps right now I mean honestly Jared could you do 53 situps right now right now rep them out after you just got done doing 46 push-ups uh yeah oh yeah it's not that

127bad I don't know I just just had half a box of popcorn so that might not help Brenan you repping them out oh not a chance maybe if someone's holding my feet like like you did in gym class but so you're going to sit on your hands too yeah that extra leverage so now 950 in the game Eagles lead this one 53 to6 [Music] Cunningham to send it deep good kick once again going to bounce at the 15 picked up trying to get to the left side and he does gets to the 20 trying to reverse field now and he's knocked down at the 27 officials stop the clock at I think it should keep going though I thought too maybe on this one it'll keep going oh there it goes now they got it

128running so first and 10 from their own 27 yd line some new faces on that defensive line now and in the secondary it's like V Mason vagle is the only starter left in the game right now it's a bold strategy picked up by number 55 for the Eagles he gets into the end zone Falls right into his lap Carson Campbell in for the touchdown the sideline going nuts I mean anytime you get a big man touchdown you got to go a little bit crazy let's go that's awesome fumbled handoff goes up in the air Campbell's right there to make it a scoop and score for a big man touchdown come on let's get put 60 on the board coming on late is Hicks and that puts it to 60 Columbia 60 East Alton six now

129we're doing jumping jacks over there I think I think they did do all 53 situps now that I can get behind I can do 60 jumping jacks I think you sure I think I can the new guy on the broadcast and he's already talking smack no that was me oh that was you I thought that was Brennan all right my apologies Brennen I'll start saying something no know your place there buddy see you cramping on the sideline with those jumping jacks Eagles next week will be back home for homecoming against Salem we'll go live again at 6:30 we're going to try to do some interviews this week with the other fall Sports coaches and uh get them a little time here on kchs talk about their Seasons volleyball is uh I think 18-4 19 and4

130something like that golf is getting into regionals in sectional play got a couple golfers that are qualifying individually and as a team Eagle send it deep caught at the 21 got the left side to the 50 another quick move going to be brought down at the Eagles 41 I believe that was the Freshman that Jared was talking about earlier good return I think he was the one that fumbled the two also that put us in scoring range but good little run there thanks once again to all of our sponsors for making this happen thanks for the Columbia quarterback club for making the main broadcast happen again they have their uh raffle going on 300 tickets is the max sold $10 a piece for your chance of winning a share of $500 quarterback hand the ball

131off number two right up the middle lowers a shoulder good smack there on the play gain of nine second one Phoenix House salon and sweets sponsored our meal tonight from washies thank you to them as well a new business opening up at the old deals area on North Main I believe it was 1550 North Main Street they have two blue is joining them as well they have a little satellite shop in their place doubles to the right side running back right Wing back to the left they're going to run it to the left Gets behind his blockers gets enough for a first down before being brought down at the Eagles 28 yd line I believe it's going to be Robinson on the tackle first and 10 for the Oilers Eagles volleyball watched them the other

132night played Moder day got beat 2523 25 3 but they're Regional and subsectional loaded is it a good atmosphere though uh Alexis said it was great yeah that's awesome doubles to the right side running back right again same formation this time it's going to be a pass to the right caught by number six brought down open field tackle good job there out of X gain of about three second and seven that subsectional is columia Breeze Central Breeze Moder day and Nashville oo that's tough some powerhouses there yeah you get out of there you got to like your chances soccer's got to be nearing their regionals as well probably within the next couple weeks and the ball off up the Middle with number two this time keeps his feet moving gain of five brings up a

133third and three 340 in the game remaining looks like our freshman's gonna check in the game believe that's Jackson lewall I think he just got pulled up JV this week it's good to see him out there third and short here and have doubles to the left side quarterback's going to just stand up and Chuck it out the number six looks like he's going to have the first down just simple little four yard hitch route under three minutes now Eagles lead 60 to6 looking to go to four and two on the season homecoming themes for dress up days here we'll get them right after this play doubles to the left side Wing back right running back up the middle gets near the goal line going to be brought down short about the two yard line Monday

134game day vers game night you can either wear your jersey or your PJs Tuesday rhyme without reason Wednesday crazy blue and white Thursday class color day and it's the assembly day and a blackout so all fans the students will be wearing black all the fans I guess will be asked to wear black as well dances on Saturday two minutes here to go in the game Oilers trying to get in the end zone once again and they're going to get in there for another East Alton touchdown [Music] takes the score Columbia 60 they need the E EI i e IO oh there it is there it is it's coming Columbia 60 East Alton 12 going to go for two again quarterback going to throw it out to number two just let the man make a play

135and it's going to be brought down good job by the Eagles good job there by the Eagles making a play in open field once again doing a great job all year with that I believe that was 51 Jake vulmer on The Tackle Columbus still lead 60 to 12 stop clock at 108 most likely just kick it off here and take a knee homecoming parade Wednesday night 600 PM going to go down Main Street this year starts at Eagle viiew down Main Street ends at the high school I believe it is last year they tried doing it in the park and uh this year they're going to go back to main street like normal like I said dances on Saturday and the Eagles football team has five football players six football players on court Aaron P

136Hudson Bryant Cooper W Keegan Thompson Dane quivero I think there's only five those are the five that I could think of right away so congrats to those five P Bryant W Thompson and quivero Jared were you on court heck no ugly nobody voted for me squib kick recovered by the Eagles on the 39 yd line big man just falling on it Dane quivero clock most likely just going to run out here after most likely one knel down it's only a 25 second here so we are going to have to run one play Eagles in Victory formation bigley takes the snap and takes the knee real quick here uh Jared we'll just do a quick postgame talk yeah what your thoughts uh first half I was a little like I said earlier not scared but just

137kind of mad the way our defense played in that second quarter um given up the whole second quarter to their offense so it was nice to see our defense come out in the second half and get off the field um I know we had two lucky bounces uh on our kickoffs that led the touchdowns inside the 152 yard line but I mean overall second half looked a lot prettier than the first half did definitely on this uh defensive side of things offensively did everything you wanted to do you uh got into the endone Zone multiple times you move the football a couple times though you kind of got a little stagnant but in the end it's okay you win this game 60 to 12 and uh get out of here andove to 4- two and

138that puts us to two- one in the conference which is always good you want to be right up there at the top of things so it's uh good to be where you are right now all in all great game no complaints out of here and uh come back home against Salem for homecoming next week yeah can't say it any better can you no all right well for all of us here at K CHS thanks for listening thank you to the Columbia quarterback Club once again for making this happen Josh on the computer TJ on the camera Brandon you have any words back here oh none none all right Eagles win this one 60 to 12 improved to 4-2 two- one in the conference we'll see you next week at home against Salem for homecoming Jared

139Jermaine and Alex schmer see you next week go Eagles baby [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music]
