001[Music] n [Music] n [Music] a [Music] n [Music] here we go pack your bags and let's hit the road as Columbia takes on its farthest road trip of the season from one cornfield filled City to the next the Eagles make their way through God's country to Taylorville and take on this violent tornado offense in week three action after a dominant victory in week one the Eagles were grounded and put in a cage thanks to the dogs last week from dominance on offense to not getting anything going and playing crazed on defense but then letting a lot of things go for positive yards let's see how the Eagles respond for Taylorville they've proven they can sling it around a bit and they can put up some points heck they're averaging 36 points per game already Coach
002G and that D has their work cut out for them will the Eagles be able to tame the tornadoes enough to improve to two and one or will they fall to one and two before Cahokia conference play buckle up folks the Eagles are in tornado country and looking to make it a happy bus ride home we are bringing you CHS football live right here on kchs for a night whenever we thought that it was going to be raining from the sun up to sun down we don't exactly have a view that looks like that but it's a lot better than being cold and wet up here in Taylorville Illinois as your one inone Eagles will take on the one and one Taylorville tornadoes here in week three action of the ihsa football season Alex schimmer
003and Jared Germaine joining you once again here in Taylorville we got our own little Press Box up here we got a little we're going to be outside for the first time this year but it's good to be back here on kchs and we'd like to thank once again this broadcast is brought to you by the Columbia quarterback club and without them we would not be able to get this going so Jared we come in here week three action make the 100 mile trip good day for football yeah feels nice out here Alex like you said we got our nice little uh patio with The Stairway to Heaven that we had to walk up here so um nice little field here I've never been here I think the last time we were here was 2018 we'll
004talk about that a little bit later um but yeah good night for football so Columbia comes into this game and we had to have our pregame meal once again was sponsored and this is where it came from this week X I'm Aaron PA and we' like to give a quick shout out to Alicia be and Edward Jones for providing us a team meal allowing us to play our bestest stomach full of food go Eagles so thank you to Mr P and Mr Hicks for thanking alicio Oglesby at Edward Jones the boys were able to get Chick-fil-A this week and that's just a quick and easy thing that they can hop on the bus get up here so thank you Alicia from Edward Jones for doing that once again Suns of the American Legion were last
005week and week one was who where did they get the week one meal from I can't believe I forgot that our lure brothers that's what it was lure Brothers got them Emos so thank you to all of our pre game meal sponsors um and if anybody would like to sponsor one contact us or coach Warner we'll get you figured out while we're there I got to ask you what's your favorite Chick-fil-A sauce what do you get ketchup ketchup only oh man no Chick-fil-A sauce no Chick-fil-A I am so P you're boring you're boring I am the most picky eater there is so you give me a spicy chicken sandwich no pickle no pickle either man you are boring I mean you're shaking your head I got TJ over here he's shaking his head at me
006too I mean yeah that's all I need I don't need anything special now you take away the flavor from the meat that you're EA okay I'm okay you'll go for that no no all right I like my Chick-fil-A sauce and my Ranch so well that's all right let's talk a little bit about last week Jared before we start talking about the offense we're just going to talk about the game as a whole and uh totally different game than what we saw in week one yeah uh I just feel like our offense couldn't really get anything going um and every third down that we got into we just couldn't get off the field um but I think overall we just got beat up front um water was just more physical and bigger up front and we
007just we didn't have an answer to that and that's two years in a row that waterl honestly they've dominated the game yeah um coach Herer I was listening to his pregame speech he talked he said you know you guys got embarrassed last year I mean heck what we 61 yards of offense he said you know you guys got barrassed last year and I think the other night it was borderline the same same out outcome for the Eagles um could get into it couldn't get into it but couldn't get off the field was the main thing I feel like yeah and that's what coaster remains hold the def is about getting to that third down maybe third and five third and six but waterl was sometimes at third and four third and three which is tough
008to stop tough uh tough to defend um whenever you have those guys up front that are just uh running the ball a lot I mean they had I'd say over three or four kids with 10 plus carries last week as well so they had a bunch of running backs in the back field that we had to account for um a lot of different counters and stuff so um but this week's going to be a little different I think Taylorville is going to throw the ball around like modern day did in week one so um we'll see uh what our def can do uh tonight so let's talk about the offense from last week a little bit really uh not a ton going again 154 yards total offense 116 yards on the ground 38 passing yards
009I think Mason was only like three for 12 through the air and uh rushing wise I think it was led by Jace James once again um Jace Nelson I'm sorry Jace James I said that last year same name J jce Nelson uh led the way with on the ground attack and uh the Highlight though getting in the end zone was Hudson Bryan at the end of the game that's a good way to cap it off oh yeah spectacular last week I know it was a rough week for not even him and his family but the whole community of Columbia so it was nice to see him get in the end zone and um hear those hear those fans yell for him um there was nothing better uh than the cap off with a touchdown that
010night go to the defensive side of the football now uh dominant dominant game out of waterl and like I said earlier it was a different defense I mean I think from the way we talked about with modern day and you watch the guys fly around and make tackles and hit people now I'm not saying we didn't hit people last week but week one totally different defense what we saw and the arm tackles is one thing that we talked about multiple times with everybody yeah and I think our defense last week was kind of putting a different scheme with Mason and Keegan Thompson coming up playing that linebacker position where they're normally playing safety or sometimes corner so it was nice to have them in the mix um but yeah it was a lot different couldn't
011couldn't tackle the running backs when we needed to on third Downs um that was pretty much the whole story of the game 254 yards rushing for the Bulldogs 124 through the air 369 total yards and we were getting some updates uh waterl statition was up with us at one point they had the ball I think it was for 27 minutes and we were like minimum I mean I don't want to say I think it was like nine or 10 minutes it was not very many so and they had almost 203d Downs that we had them to and they were 11 or 12 for 20 at one point so and we were one for seven yeah and that and that's that was the whole game right there and you look at a lot of times too
012whenever the defensive side you said you know you get to that third and three there was a lot of times it was third and 12 and they were converting and a lot of time they they were still running their bread and butter they would just run the ball maybe get it to a fourth and five and we still couldn't get off the field um and get turnovers on downs but um like coach owner and Coach man always said just on to the next week they they beat our butt last week you got to put that behind you and get ready for tonight and when we talk about last week and everything that was going on um a tragic week no doubt about it but there was light with all of that too the way the
013two communities came together in Columbia and waterl but also Beville East still this week they showed their support uh last week a team from Poria Louisville they're showing their support and then you come back home and you look at somebody like freshly press Creations um and Amanda Wagner and uh her crew that they did everything from t-shirts to helmet stickers to handkerchiefs wristband they did everything that they could have done and on Wednesday I believe Tuesday or Wednesday they put out a post that said um we're going to do the t-shirts for the family in honor of Hudson or Crawford and so on Tuesday or Wednesday they put that out there 651 shirts were sold in 14 hours she had to cut sales off and say we can't do anymore we're out of stuff yeah
014and and the timing behind it all she said there was six eight people down in their basement trying to get everything together so great job by freshly press to uh do that and get that all in and it was a long week for him but it was able to get done and now we try to move on a little bit our thoughts and prayers are still with um Jacob Nelson who is still in the hospital so thoughts and prayers go to him and they still stay with the Bryant family as well as they still navigate this tough time with all that being said we're about 15 minutes away from kickoff we're going to run to a commercial break real quick we'll take you to last week's recap of how uh week two went with waterl
015and we come back here in Taylorville we'll give you this week's outlook on what we have in front of us right here on KS [Music] one 3 let's get started [Music] oh that's real good [Music] St ocean man is Jace they fake the hand off and go around Liberty go the right side with hick he's got to make of Liberty gets into the end [Music] man fakes the hand off going to look in the middle of the end zone he's got H Bryant Bryant Forum eag touchdown welcome back to Taylorville and kchs Alex and Jared once again coming to you and uh we made the trip everyone is not everyone there's a lot of people going to songs for soldiers this week so good luck to them they had beautiful weather it turns out like
016I said we were worried we were going to be a rained out mud pit up here in the turf but uh hopefully songs for soldiers has a good night uh who is it Chris Jansen tonight and then JY blossoms tomorrow I'll be in backstage with uh Coach G doing uh meet and greets tomorrow so excited about that and songs for soldiers everything that they do uh usually we have Dustin on but been a crazy two weeks weren't able to get them on maybe we'll get them on after the uh after the week's over and have him talk about the the weekend that it was you ever been to songs for soldiers uh yeah I think when I was was younger uh before I started playing High School football cuz it's always whenever we have an
017away game um and I think back then they only did one night of it for started didn't they yeah it was probably five years ago I bet that they finally did two nights got into two night I don't think I've ever really really went so we look at our schedule this year here we look at it every week but uh obviously we're in Taylorville tonight next week we go back home and we have Roxana for blue jay KN it's going to be a big one and you look at who I mean like I said we've talked about all those nights one thing mentioned though freeberg military appreciation night is going to be that night um all vets and active military personnel can come in for free uh it'll be paid for by the sons of
018the American Legion they were supposed to do that with waterl got pushed back so they're going to do it again with uh that freeberg game so let's look at where our opponents are this week mod day 0 and2 goes to 2 and 0 Effingham they'll be hosting that game pretty much everybody's at home this week last week most people were on the road two and waterl hosts Centralia 101 101 Taylorville 101 Columbia roxana's 101 they are going to be hosting Civic Memorial didn't expect them to be two and0 but uh getting it done this year freeberg is 1 and one vers Chester who's one and one that's a pretty big game there too uh a lot of small town field there for sure East Al Wood River and Marquette 0 and2 Salem vers Mount Zion
019Bree Central 2 and0 takes on red bud and Jerseyville goes to Charleston they're right up here I think near us I have no idea might be in the same conferences they are they both Apollo they might be so you look at that where everybody is tonight and uh some good games I'm sure we'll find some more East St Louis uh just talk about good games they get to play tomorrow they're playing A team out of Philadelphia though so uh that'll be exciting for them they're already beating a team from Georgia and where was the other team oh lyola Northern Illinois an AA school and they dominated that game too so let's talk about East Side for a second they go three and0 potentially against nationally ranked teams then they're going to play their conference five
020games and they just cracked the top 25 in ESPN's in the nation yeah oh and then they play IMG Academy in week nine think about that let's just say hypothetically with their non-conference schedule they go 0 and four but they go five and0 in conference so they're five and four in the season how' you like to be that number one seed like yeah we're n and0 we're going to be the number one seed and then all of a sudden nope have fun with these sides so that luckily that's 68 football we don't have to worry about that too much so let's talk a little bit here about what we have tonight we got a beautiful landscape I mean we got Bean Fields off to the right we got the baseball field that it's about 390
021to left field and it's about 190 to right field Center Field's way out there but you got a the silver monster as TJ called it back here in right so you got to get it up and over got the shock putting looks like a little practice field over to our right and uh they're Grand stands going from about the 25 to the 25 their bands making the way out now for the national anthem so it's getting a little quiet and over here to our left is the original um tunnel which this was the first place that we saw the tunnel uh back in that 2018 playoff game and that's what got us to think hey we need to get one of those back at home so did you announce that game yourself I did you
022were you I was an all Miss I know yeah see you later I had I had it planned already I didn't think we'd make the playoffs you know hey we were up here and I was in this exact same spot nothing's changed up here so we look at beautiful landscape here sun setting here in front of us as Taylor ville's band gets ready to take the field and as they do the officials make their way out on homecoming night here we're going to run to a break 9:30 until game time we'll let the national anthem get through and when we come back we will have a breakdown of this week and the kickoff right here on kchs good evening football fin [Music] he [Music] e for [Music] n hi my name is Cameron Janik Mason
023vagley and we'd like to take a second to shout out Matt K on his 25th year as a ball boy in Columbia Eagles Organization no GP still can't believe you said once again thank you to you're still worried about that catch up only catch up on your Chick-fil-A SA or on your chick-fil sandwich that's that's crazy once again thank you Matt for 25 years we're gonna keep honoring you all season long for all the work that you've done down here as the Eagles ball boy so Jared let's talk a little bit more about here tonight Taylorville offense they can put some points up they can sling it around a little bit Yeah I think last week I think we saw they had a shut out didn't they 34 nothing 34 nothing and then week one
024there was close game against only 43 38 38 yeah so um scored over 30 points in their last two weeks to start off the season so um I know coach she's defense is going to have a have a battle tonight so see if we can uh try to match their uh scoring on the offense of side of the ball Columbia comes into this game and is playing Taylorville like we said in the Apollo conference 773 students in their enrollment uh the only third meeting between the two programs most recent meeting was was September 8th of last year Taylorville wins it 15 to nothing last time we were in Taylorville like we said November of 2018 and Taylorville put up 45 points I can't remember what 23 yep 4523 in that game so series record goes
025to Taylorville uh 0 and2 for the Eagles 0 And1 in the regular season 0 and one back in the playoffs so uh Eagles got their work cut out and obviously with it being homecoming week going to be a little bit more exciting here for the tornadoes and everybody here in attendance here tonight so make sure you let us know where you're listening from tonight we haven't haven't had that opportunity to ask that question yet as we've been always trying to battle the uh the sound issues the video issues I've got text already that we look and we sound good so hopefully that's the nobody's lying to us there so thanks for uh sticking with us we're learning this on the Fly and we're trying to figure it out as we go so thank goodness TJ
026was here tonight he got everything up and running for US is this our first personal Press Box we've ever had you think we're here yeah for sure Eagles make their way out onto the field after Taylorville just did looks like we're going to have captains tonight cam janick Logan Hicks Hudson Bryant and Mason vley I think they've been the uh captains pretty much every night I did not see that they do a coin toss before and we just missed it yep all right works for me we usually miss him so maybe they're going to go ahead and uh do a reenactment that'll be nice if they do so we can see what's going on Jared if you got three keys to the game tonight what are they uh going back to last week I think
027we got to get big stops on third down I think that was the biggest thing against waterl uh we we got him to third down almost every every uh Series so I think just getting off the field and trying to uh trying to get off the field I think that'd be number one um the second one would probably be just you got to be ready you had an hour and 45 minute drive on the bus all the way up here so and you had half day at school so hopefully some of these kids uh ready to play Friday Night Football and my third one probably just be uh have fun obviously we conference play starts next week so um we got to we got to get ready for conference play um two two home games
028in a row after after this one so if we can win this game go to two- one and maybe sneak two more out get the four- one that' be looking pretty good and that's I I agree with you you got to get out of here with the win uh if you follow that two losses you can get in you get in at six and three but if you get it five and four you never know and with the way the conference is freeberg and Central you always always know it's going to be a competitive game so Santa's been pretty good as of as of lately last years quartal Team all right with the coin toss it is going to be Columbia looks like they won it see if the white Hat's going to make a
029motion on what happened he's confused he's trying to figure it out I guess he never made a motion of what was happening coach look kind of confused to receive Eagles are going to receive the football so the offense is going to start out with the football so we'll see how Mason vagle does at quarterback like we said Jay Nelson been leading the way at running back so going to be big we'll look and see if we can figure out who the starting offensive line is not too many big dudes on the on the stat sheet right here we'll see what they look like when they come out uh it is highlighted number 78 he's a sophomore he's 510 300 lb so he might be out there and there is a senior 74 6' 300 lb
030so other than that it looks like everyone's pretty much the same size as we are um so we'll see how things go but it's all going to start with Coach Kendall and the uh kick routine return team we'll see what if coach Horner got any uh tricks up his sleeve this week see if he's got any different formations he wants to run or if he wants to keep doing bread and butter with Jason Nelson and Mason in the back field with the uh sniffer back so we'll see if uh see what coach owner's Got Tonight one thing to mention cam janick last week was out uh he tried to play a little bit but was out with a shoulder injury is slated to start tonight they're keeping everything the same but we'll see that how
031he uh handles that and how that shoulder holds up he is going out for the opening kickoff though so Jared I got the 40 yard line everything to my left is gone I got the sh or the shed side here under a minute now as Taylorville makes their way out for kickoff and it's Friday night just like they're supposed to be under the lights again sun setting in front of us little breeze this is perfect you think an eagle's ever flown through a tornado I'm Eagle is my favorite animal of all time so I bet you it has bet you it flew right through the the Eye of it hopefully we can do that tonight Dixon Nelson back deep Janik and Bryant look to be at about the 23 yd line we'll see how things
032get going here in Taylorville in week three action going to be a returnable kick at the 15 yd line see what kind of wall we get set up number three is back there right away tries an arm tackle doesn't work we're going to get to about the 35 nearly the 40 yd line and that's where this Eagles D offense will start starting offense tonight nothing Strang in everything like I said staying the same thank you to Victoria simow are photography for uh putting that up there for us but like you said nothing's nothing strange for that eagle offense we'll see how things go tonight looks like Taylorville is going to open up at a three-man front two linebacker look yep empty backfield for vaguely ocean man is Nelson they're going to hand the ball off
033to him try to stretch to the outside he's going to have good blocking all the way around he's got enough that's going to be a colum Eagles first down on the first play of the game great St block there by Logan Hicks getting to that I couldn't tell if it was a linebacker or the safety coming up but great job to just get up up there put his hands up just enough time for Jace to get right behind him and get a first down so one play 12 yards for the Eagles nice little start there let's hopefully keep that going all night night long going to be flipped formation Nelson's the motion man they're going to fake it quarterback keep tries to lower his head going to have nothing going though they're going to give
034him a gain of one that's it second and nine V VY is that what V is that what they just side tornado defens line a yard on the put the ball at the 47 yd line Second down and N what's 44 listed as over there Alex he looks like a pretty pretty big kid playing nose looks like he's 5800 right over the center coach Horner making sure they see that they need to reset the play clock where' we start this drive on about the 38 yep 38 37 call it 38 this time they're going to hand the ball off to Nelson left side he's got good stalk blocking again he's going to gain four but that's going to at least give you a manageable third down and five already seen a lot of motion like
035we've seen the first two games with Jas Nelson put your defense in a little bit of a bind whenever kid with the most touches gets it early so we'll see what we have on this third call it a long five and a line up in that empty set again going to go doubles to the right side two Wing backs really in on that left side over there tight end left they're going to give the ball off to Nelson he's going to make onean Mick great feat gain of seven first and 10 for the Eagles at the tornado 35 yd line we talked on the way up here Jared in between your terrible music like always the uh that awareness out of Jace this year and the footwork is fantastic yeah and I think his vision's
036got better over these p this past year I'd say um really getting better looking looking down field see where those Defenders are going to come from going to be a handoff once again to Nelson he's going to get up field and he's going to kind of lose his footing that time go right into the tackler gain of two he's got four carries already tonight 25 yards to start it off we're going to try to keep stats up here we'll I already screwed up on the first play though we're going to give it a shot far though only Jason Mason have carried it so yeah well I gave the first Carry to vagley so he got the second one we'll see if we can get a figure you ain't hoe man you're not ho no I'm
037not Howie doubles to the left side single receiver to the right sniffer back right going to be a pass play vley is looking to the left he's got oh he had hick deep now he's going to try to force it to the left side see if Hicks can make a catch he's nearly caught it man like you said you had the hitch right there and then he tried to force it in the end but it falls incomplet intended for Hicks well looked like a simple smash concept there with slots running a corner and the uh outside receivers are running hitches and looked like the corner and the safety bailed with Hicks and had Keegan Thompson close to the first down marker but Mason wanted to take a shot down field going to bring up third
038and eight and I think you're in four down territory here it would be third it' be about a 50 yard field goal so so here I think you want to run the ball too cuz if you throw it incomplete now you have a four an eight I think you go back to your bread and butter and try to get a touch to Logan Hicks or Jay Nelson you got to think that they're going to bring pressure three down linemen going to be two linebackers it's going to be hand off to Hicks he gets behind his big blockers he's going to get near the first down I think he might be a two yard short but at least it's a fourth and three and o line already looks a little bit better than they did last
039week opening up a little bit of space already I know we've ran a lot of outside zone or Jacksonville if you want to call it but it's a big play here on four fourth down same formation for the Taylorville defense doubles to the right side motion man fake they're going to go back reset coach Horner is going to call a new play fourth and three pistol back now is Nelson going to be a handoff going to go to Jace he's got to get up to the 25 I don't think they're going to give it to him I don't think they're going to give it to him like he almost got tackled or out of the arm tackle there but by the by a foot couldn't even reach the ball forward so tornadoes are going to
040take over first and 10 tornado will take first very good drive there by the Eagles you just come up short so let's see what this defense comes out to be now couple changes here for the Eagles defense this week they are going to take janic out because of the shoulder injury it's going to move Keegan Thompson to a linebacker and put Aaron p as defensive back safety next to vagley other than that everything else is staying the same so we'll see how this new defense will do quivero win in as your defensive lineman as well going to be a pass play just a quick hitch it's tipped at the line of scrimmage and it's completed good job there by the Eagles big number 77 Brody furo got his hand up there but it was still
041caught by the receiver looks like we're going to see a little bit more of Aon pool tonight as well with uh cam janick not playing on the defensive side of the ball see Keegan and coming up playing linebacker a little bit with Cooper and Hudson briyan on those edges trying to force everything back inside and to move some guys around Eagles are going to go fourman front two linebackers it's going to be a handoff up the middle good push there by the Eagles defense gain of two brings up a third down let's get off the field this week like Briant fur in there on the tackle fur great job of getting low can't go anywhere if people grabbing your ankles right right that's what he did there able to bring him down be a third
042and one watch the football here third and one pistol back sniffer back right going to be a handoff up the middle and it's fumbled picked up by the quarterback Hudson Bryant there along with four other eagles and it's going to be a loss on the going to be a loss of two on the play quarterback is the punter looks like he is going to go back in a punt watch the football again here too Return Man is going to be Nelson eagles look like they're going to bring the house oh we got there a bunch of blocked by The Eagles HS straight up in the air it's going to be pretty much picked up where the punt happened and the Eagles are going to have great starting field position on this drive you called that
043you said we're bringing the house here who got the block I it look like Hicks Hicks it looked like furo was the one to kind of jump for the ball wouldn't have mattered where the spot was cuz you I don't think you can advance it there so great job there by the defense to open up this ball game see if we can punch one in here early in this first quarter this is where I'm aggressive I'm going for the end zone right after the turnover get the ball at the 22 yd line to start this drive Eagles are going into a huddle this time see how it goes looks like Hicks is GNA come off Keegan Thompson in at receiver now looks like we're going to be in a little bit of a h looks
044like heavy we brought it back Alex running back Nelson seven yards deep under Center is vaguely it's going to be hand off to the right side Jace puts his head down good job there a little powerful run gets two yards Nelson the ball pick's going to come back in looks like 21 hobill is going to check out it's going to go let's see how many down linemen they have this time they were running three pretty much everything we saw still got three those linebackers are up close got five in the Box real real close to the line of scrimmage going to be Nelson to the right side good stalk blocking once again again look like some of the linebackers and linemen got off their blocks going to be another gain of three brings up a
045third and four Lincoln Corbin there was trying to get that outside leverage on that D end couldn't really get there first guy to touch Nelson going to be third and four 540 remaining here in the first quarter been a lot of run plays here for the eagles only one pass attempt like to see a little bit more motion doubles the right side tight end left they're going to hand the ball off and there's no blocking whatsoever going for the Eagles going to be a loss on the play we got a loss there of the back for the tornadoes on the will the Eagles with a down theing at Fourth and five let's see what coach hner has in mind this time feel like on that first drive having that motion involved made a little difficult
046on that defensive side but see if coach orner is going to burn a timeout here and try to get good play call looks like he is going to do that we have a timeout Timeout on the field like you said a little bit different field than what it was last week already The Eagles I mean about 40 yards rushing just this fast and this quick so you look at last week whenever the Eagles rushing came in at 116 they averaged 4 and2 yards a carry Nelson led the way 12 rushes 62 yards vaguely n rushes for 26 Logan Hicks four for 28 so Eagles it's no no hiding they're going to be a run heavy offense on that defensive side of the ball last week I think leading the way was uh Hudson Bryant with
047I want to say 14 tackles so um here in his name last week was awesome getting in the mix and then scoring that touchdown so big fourth down here we'll see if he want to involve uh Brian on this play like you said motion right now would be a good thing just to kind of screw some things up and we've seen a bunch already this year a ton of motion out of coach horer and the offense but like you said that's something that causes Coach G and the defense fits so they're going to be just using it against you know what what hurts us we talk about how we have the Press Box to ourselves but we still got the coaches up here with us so I tell you what don't lean on the handrails
048either oh yeah they're wobbling things are yep I did it earlier doubles to the right side an extra tackle to the right side tight end left sniffer back left running back left going into the boundary here going to be a fake handoff pass play across the middle he's got Hicks Hicks makes the catch in the end zone touchdown Eagles great play call there by coach ho middle of the field wide open Hicks gets it into the end zone six nothing Eagles 445 in the first quarter that's right there is coach hner is kind of known for Ling those safeties to sleep thinking it's a run the first two drives and then boom on fourth down you got Hicks running the slant route right across the middle of the field with nobody really guarding him so
049great play called by coach Herer and great job by the offense there punch One In The End Zone early on for the Pat Keegan Thompson good snap good hold kick is up almost got through the upright and good so with 445 remaining in the first quarter the Eagles Take a seven nothing lead we talked about needing to get off to a hot start and they did it so the Eagles all started though with that blocked punt yeah and on that what was it third third and one they had a bad snap which I mean thank you for that but we'll take it any day of the week but like you said right before the uh play started on fourth down you said it looks like we're going to bring that house and and we did
050and it paid off what yard line did we have the ball on there it was 2 yeah we'll call it a 21 yard touchdown pass from vagle to Hicks so now if you're the Eagles kick team Keegan's done a great job kicking this year I think he's averaging hold on let's just get the stats out here real quick which packet is that in Jared you got too many of I got too many papers up here Eagles through week two Keegan Thompson doing the kicking H where does that say it on their back page kicking stats eight kickoffs 402 yards averaging 50 yards a kick we'll take that in the week 10 yard line I guess is that good math that's good math look I already gave up on their stats I wrote two things down
051we're just going to worry about our offense they don't have very many yards they had eight yards on that first drive so let's hopefully Eagles defense keeps him there nice showing for the Eagles after a 100 mile trip for an hour and 40 minutes Thompson's going to send it deep and another good kick and like Jared said it's going to be caught at the nine got an extra yard out of it and look at that eagle defense getting down there nothing going L on the way by Cooper white and they're going to be brought down at the 20 yd line good job by the Eagles there about four or five guys down there right away to make the tackle we'll see how this Eagle defense does they're going to be led three down lineman going
052to be number 71 Owen Mankey he's going to be the nose and then you got your DNS Dane quivo number 75 Brody furlo 77 going to be four linebackers just like always Cooper W hegan Thompson I believe that's a 52 out there muscot Hudson Bryant's going to be your other linebacker Hicks vaguely p and Nelson your defensive backs quarterback keep right up the middle nothing going Cas missed an arm tackle but he's going to be brought down Hudson Bryant and Brody Furlow gain of about four look like they just let KAS come right through the uh Back Field there tried to make a tackle but like it was just a simple wild cat quarterback was able to get a couple yards call it second and seven they're known for throwing it right they do a
053lot of fade routes is what you seen on film defensive backs playing about their normal seven eight yards deep looks like it's manto man with all the defensive backs a lot of blitzing going on up the middle and it's going to be caught by number one brought down by number 22 jce Nelson third down and two after the big hit great read There by Nelson it was a simple Arrow Route by the uh inside receiver slot and Nelson able to read that right off right off the snap come up and make a great tackle only a gain of about CAU one Cooper went on a blitz but he actually hit the guard and it looked like another linebacker I would assume it's going to be Keegan came around the outside of him so doing a
054little bit of games up front for Coach G doubles all the way around running back to the right side it's going to be a time out for the tornadoes and we're going to come back and when we come back there's 321 remaining here in the first quarter Eagles lead it seven nothing [Music] you are listening to Columbia Eagle football live right here on kchs this broadcast is proudly brought to you by the Columbia quarterback club for 14 years the Columbia QB Club has donated over $100,000 to CHS and other youth Leagues with one event in the summer and one in the winter there are plenty of ways to donate to the club check out their Facebook page or visit their website at www. Columbia QB club.com to find out more information on how to get
055involved donate or make a request that's Columbia QB club.com third and three for the tornadoes doubles tight three down lineman of a spiral going to be caught at the 49 yd line good job there by Jace making a dude went right up to his face under a foot so the eagle is going to be starting over on the 49 yd line I was going to give him 49 they're going to give us to 48 we'll take [Music] it looks like there's a little bit more energy out there on the field tonight up seven nothing with 235 left in this first quarter Eagles get the ball back see if we can go down the field and punch another one hand and make it two score game go single receiver left a sniffer back right Wide Receiver
056right motion man's going to be Hicks we're going to hand the ball off to him to the outside he's going to have to make something happen and I don't think it's going to happen loss of four on the play for the Eagles nothing going on that play probably had about six seven tornado hats getting to the ball there great job of flowing to the ball see if coach Horner wants to use that wide side of the field he's been like can going the short side of the field 4 so from the 48 to the 48 doubles we'll call it trips left it's almost like a quad set with Janik in that backfield as well we'll go quads left empty backfield they're going to look at hick or J there cam it's going to be caugh
05750 yd line 45 brings up a manageable third down I'll take that play call there out of jce Nelson a gain of 10 there that time for Nelson that's all you really need to do you got a guy like Nelson guy like Hicks guy like Thompson and Jan just get them out in open space and let him do let them do their magic ball this time now in the 42 yd line third and four great position here if you're the Eagles offense in coach Horner's Playbook drips to the right side motion man Nelson hand off right side fi use that speed baby he's at the 3530 2520 15 lowers the boom down to the 11 big game there for the Eagles gain of 30 first and 10 for the Eagles 107 here in the first
058quarter y y great play there third and four turns into a 30 yard gain first and 10 from the 11 and once again great stock blocking by those receivers it's not an easy task when you got linebackers and safeties and Corners flowing to you doubles to the right side tight end left Nelson's going to be to the left side he's the motion man fake it to him vaguely keeps it himself he's at a 10 he kind of slips up a little bitter theall carrier boy how did he just say his name right there V gain of three gets it to the seven eight yard line gain of three for vagle right there you have Hudson Bryant playing that tight end position hopefully somebody forgets about him here see if you want to line him up
059in the same position fake it have a run right down the middle of the field and score a touchdown full Back Field this time two tackles to the right side Bryant's going to be to the left Nelson motion man from left to right going to be a hand off to Hicks he's to the 5 yd line he's going to run the ball hard he's going to get near the end zone but I think it's going to be at the two third down I thought I don't know why they don't have the chains up I guess they gave it to us at the 10 I thought we had it at the 11 which would have given us a first down ball at the two ydd line going to be a I don't know what it's going
060to be whenever we come back in the second quarter the end of first qu looks like it's at the two we needed the one for a first down but anyway that's a good first half out of the Eagles offense and defense first quarter rather we come back after this break we'll give you hopefully a Columbia Eagles touchdown right here on KCs [Music] you're watching Columbia football live presented by kchs thanks to the Columbia quarterback Club [Music] welcome back to kchs here Ball's going to be on the two yard line as we start the second quarter Eagles are up 7 nothing looking to go up 13 nothing week three action live in Taylorville on homecoming night for the tornadoes Mason vagley is on the sideline we're going to see what we got out here little wild
061cat action Janik is going to be your wild cat quarterback three running backs for the right side janic number zero is going to be your quarterback he's going to run to the right side he's going to put his shoulder down he's going to get into the end zone for another Columbia Eagles touchdown gain of two there for the Eagles gets him into the end zone 13 nothing I don't think we saw that at all last week because cam was out of the game but we saw that a little bit week one against M day especially in if you're inside the five yard line putting big cam janic back there call him our power running back for this season step into the Press Box here for this play you're okay TJ I can see over you
062good snap good hold kick is up and it sneaks in that right side of the upright so that takes the score Columbia 14 Taylorville zero Eagles firing on all cylinders right now even on special teams I don't we pinned them inside the 20 and then we got that block punt so great job by all three what would you call that all three uh offens facets of the game yeah there you go but I don't think they've got past I Want to Say the 25 or the 30 so great job by the defense as well causing some mishaps on that offensive line and even in that back field with that fumble that happened that turned into the block punt this stat sheet has ways you can keep stats on everything all I have are yards penalties
063passing rushing first downs receiving third down conversions then there's a whole backside we're not even going to look at that man we'll call down to Sharky and hoe at halftime see what they got Keegan Thompson's going to send it deep from the 40 he's kicking it to our left side it's going to be caught it's going to be fumbled at the six yd line Eagles once again great job getting down the field four Eagles there 15 yd line Cooper white laying the wood at the start cleaned up musk up I think was down there as well so the Eagles defense getting a job done here again we saw a lot of that at modern day too I know we weren't able to broadcast it but on that kickoff team you had guys flying down the
064field and that can change the game flips the whole game if you can get good field position on your defensive side of the ball and force them to punt like we did last drive and then you get the ball right at Midfield so you can't really ask for anything better so far from the Eagles makes the game a little bit easier and hey we did broadcast it down there and yeah just you just couldn't listen to us who knew that you needed a power strip hand off this way up the middle gain of about five that's a pretty violent run there out of the running back what do we say number 45 was was huge 4 195 boy they all look tall now holy cow they're right tackle as well number 76 we'll have to
065get that 65 310 remember when I said they didn't have much size I lied single receivers split out guy down here number four is way out of the picture Mo motion man number one going to hand the ball off just going to be a jet coming at us good job keeping the edge there good job in Pursuit there by the Eagles Defender I think that's going to be Keegan Thompson your middle linebacker this week and on our way up here we were excited that guy can run back and forth yeah and like we said he's normally playing safety with Mason but over the last couple weeks we've moved him up to a linebacker position because I want to say he's one of our best tacklers um started last year for us as well on that
066defensive side of the ball so he knows how to stick his nose in there along with Bryant and Cooper W on the outside linebacker so we got a lot of linebackers in there that aren't afraid to hit empty Back Field tight end left doubles third down here third and five eagles got to get off the field it's going to be a screen play number 22 Nelson misses the tackle uhoh number Four's got a lot of green grass in front of him he's at the 40 45 down at the Eagles 40 about a 34 30 40 yard gain from the 22 to the 37 at the 3 yd line first and 10 tornado that's a play we have in our Playbook there a little screen pass to the outside receiver coming back straight to the quarterback
067Jace with the missed tackle there could have had close to a first down Eagles are slow getting to the line of scrimmage that time boy we had guys that were still falling down to get in the stance number 71 for the Eagles comes on Mankey and there's already getting set again quarterback sneak up up the middle this time I don't think it's going to be enough for a first down it'll be close Eagles defense gives up one big play and all of a sudden their dobers are down heels a little bit third and one I'm Taylorville I'm running the same play watch the football here too for the Eagles quarterback sneak up the middle again number 15's got plenty for a first time first down this time as he get get down to the Eagles
06824 25 yd line first and 10 Eagles defense got their hands on their hips now Eagles crowd trying to get the cowbells going and make a difference Taylorville really slown at down man you had the Eagles on their heels that have kept going doubles running back number seven to the right side of number 15 Baron Odum last year's quarterback as well going to be a pass this time they're going to look to the left side pressure This Time by Keegan it's going to be dropped incomplete good job there by Keegan getting in the back field and disrupting odm was looking deep second and 10 please tell me that was his dad saying that yeah it was I got a little nervous there for a second what odm we said his name a lot last year
069quarterback this year he's a senior though doubles to the right side we'll call it doubles all the way around number one motion man they're going to hand the ball off it's going to be a stretch play good job there by the Eagles getting there Mason vaguely great job running the alleys it's going to be a loss on the play and it sets up a third and long out looks like nobody's jet sweeps are working tonight only for jce Nelson on those short handoffs whenever he's in motion third and 11 at the 25 see if defense can get another stop here 822 left in this first half this would be probably four down territory if you're Taylorville and if you're Columbia yeah like you said a huge stop if you can get the ball back going
070make Taylorville call another timeout timeout tornadoes timeout tornadoes 813 I believe that's their second timeout Eagles have taken one 14 nothing third and 11 we call it third what you want to call it third and long 10 or short 11 short 11 short 11 we bring in any juice here yeah I think so I think they're going to throw the ball here you got to watch out for that screen pass again if you want to bring the juice but I don't know I kind of liked the manto man to open up the game had that Arrow Route on their side that we read really well with Jason Nelson making a great tackle so our defense has look pretty nails start off this game I'm just going to say that I was a li to start
071the game when I said they didn't have size starting offensive line 63 220 6' 200 6' 300 65 310 6 foot 255 so uh insert foot there that was way wrong ain't no way he's 65 though he don't look 65 quarterback comes in 631 75 he looks bigger than that yeah quar every probably looks bigger than you though quarterback hey now wow wow that was a low oh oh you can't say that either doubles punch stack stack that's a good word tight end left empty backfield that watch out of that tight end here tight end now they're all everyone's up tight middle of the Field's going to be open here Eagles got to stay home and know their assignments quarterback's just going to run the football up the middle he's going to be short four
072down territory fourth and I'm going to give it an initial fourth and four on the initial look I do like that play call though you had wide side of the field you had two guys out here that I mean you have you have to bring your defensive guys out here to guard them and like you said there was nobody in the middle of the field quarterback kind of recognize that an easy easy sixy gain we'll call it eight y gain maybe big fourth down here for the Eagles see if we can get a stop doubles running back left coach is looking at what he's got three down lineman for the Eagles four linebackers going to be a roll out to the right side coming at us they're going to look to the corner of the
073end zone they got a man wide open TouchDown Taylorville [Applause] whose assignment's that Jace looked like it would they have a little bit of a arrow out here or something in a wheel turn into a wheel I think Jace bit I don't even know if he saw him coming out though on that wheel route he was wide open Jace was probably standing at the seven or eight yard line an easy ball there for the quarterback just to throw it to the back of the end zone let his guy get it 146 now the P good snap good hold left footed kicker sends it through the uprights and good 147 now on the Cory Pharmacy scoreboard 724 remaining here in the first half coach G's out talking to p and Nelson so I don't know if
074that was P there and I think whenever I looked down it looked like P was tapping his chest um so I don't know like he said if he bid on one thing and not the other and ended up being a touchdown for the tornadoes I want to say that was one of our if not the only really mistake we've had start off this game know we lost four yards on a Jet Sweep but that's that's been about it we've been pretty Perfect all around and that's all it takes is one play to get get anybody back in the game so see if our offense can maybe take some time off the clock here go up two scores from a momentum from a momentum perspective you got to get in the end zone here yep to
075uh try to get get the momentum back and try to get things going because like you said you're going to be getting defense to start the uh second half great showing over there for Taylorville as well turned into a nice night beautiful lot better than the last time we were up here a little chilly out here no I wasn't here when you were up here yeah so a different kicker for kickoffs number one I don't know if that's a pooch kit let go out of bounds go out of bounds please go out of bounds it checks up hits at about the 30 and goes out of bounds I think bounce straight up in the a I'd be a little nervous about it Little Eagles unofficially so far 107 yards of offense unofficially Nelson your leading
076carrier 66 yards on 10 carries Hicks has one touchdown receiving for 22 yard yards and Janik has a touchdown for two yards that's how the Eagles got their 14 points at the 37 yd line where went out of bounds where the Eagles will have a first and 10 Eagles are going to start at the 37 where they marked the ball out of bounds all right big drive here trying to get the momentum back on our side open up in that same scheme that we've been this whole game probably going to send Jason motion here doubles to the right side sniffer back right motion man's Nelson he's going to run to the right side try to stretch it out wide he's got the 35 he's got the 35 cuz he started five yards back in the
077back field maybe gain a one ball started on the right half she gets tackled out of bounds on the right side for a gain of nothing lot of running for nothing I feel like that's why coach horer likes going into the boundary a little bit more to some some guys like to get to that outside but they like running veral or was that would that be horizontally uh then rather getting vertical up the field doubles to the left side tight end right sniffer back right going to be a pass this time caught by Nelson he's going to get behind his blockers great job great cut good for seven yards third and three good play all around for the Eagles great job by man to think he went down and blocked the outside linebacker there just
078to get jce a little bit room little bit of wiggle room after the catch look like we're going to bring that Wildcat set back out Mason coming out janic in Keegan coming in as well third and about four Eagles just load up that right side two down linemen three linebackers they're going to run to the right side is Janik he's got to lower his head he does he's got enough for a colum Eagles first down looks like 70 checking out of the game Malachi betet Y and Mason going to check back in with the spread offense I like how we we're overloading with tackles on one side getting your way off the ball there you go we got two tackles to the left side Jace has got one defender on him it's forever away going
079to be a fake pass play down the middle of the field it's going to be Hicks makes a great catch great adjustment first down for the Eagles gain of 27 Yards First and 10 I thought he threw it too late he had Hicks after he beat that safety great ball though by Mason might be his best ball we've seen this season on a rope great catch there by Logan to go up and get it first down Eagles 527 left in the first half and we're driving I think you look at Mason and his brother Dom Dom's going to Chuck it Mason's got a little bit better feel a little bit better touch and that was a good ball good adjustment all the way around doubles to the right side tight end left Nelson motion man
080he's going to the right side going to be a quarterback keep cam cam just absolutely whiffed might have gave him the original line of scrimmage we'll see what the official does Cam knew it too once he saw that guy beat him made the tackle clapped his hands but now you got to regroup and go do it again I think if he makes that block Mason's getting at least five yards there with his feet but a loss of one clock is ticking looks like Bryant's GNA set up in tight end but coach or is going to burn another timeout so timeout here for the Eagles we're going to run to a break real back real quick and when we come back it'll be the Eagles at the 24 yd line right here on [Music] kchs you're
081watch from Blue Pride football on kchs thanks for the Columbia quarterback Club welcome back to kchs where the Columbia football team is leading this one 14-7 had a loss of one there cam just missed a block and uh vaguely went down for a loss of one see what the Eagles Drew up there at that timeout ball at to Taylorville 24 yd line every time Bryant's lined up in that tight end position you got got to watch out for it honor it motion man Hicks going to be a fake bootleg to the right side he's got Jace Jace is going to catch the ball at the 15 he gets up field he's going to be drugg out of bounds near first down line we'll see what they give him it's going to be good for Columbia
082Eagles first down great play calls right now by coach hner too had the whole defense going left and you vaguely spins out of it rolls out to the other side of the field and that looked like a play that we used to run a lot on I'm not going to give the name of it but great job there by Mason vagley to get that ball out first down Eagles Mason right now has five completions I don't know how many attempts but hasn't been many dropped balls for the Eagles or incompletions still tied and right two tackles to the left side doubles to the left side pistol back is Nelson he's going to have to make something happen but again I think cam missed a block it's going to be a gain of two but I
083think that's all on Jace there with his his foot four minutes to go in the first half ball at the eight yd [Music] line I'm going slant out of Thompson I'm running bubble here with Logan Hicks and that's why I'm going to go Slant with Keegan let's see what the Eagles are going to do Nelson's going to be your pistol back going to be a play action vag going to have to keep it run to the right side five yd line pylon End Zone touchdown Eagles Mason vaguely good for seven yards gets it into the end zone once again Eagles needed a touchdown there and they got it I think that was supposed to go to Logan too on the bubble but looked like the corner of the linebacker jumped it so Mason just decided
084keep it himself get to that right Edge able to get close to that pylon reach the ball over the line of or not the line of scrimmage but the goal line to make it 20 to7 with 340 left in the first half see if we can get one more here make it a 14-point lead Keegan good snap good hole kick up through the uprights in good knock on wood very consistent out of our PS this year great job by special teams so that takes it Columbia 21 Taylorville tornadoes 7 340 to go in the first half in week three action you're listening live on kchs as our cheerleaders are about to do their 42nd push-ups of the night they've had to do a bunch of them already this year we usually try keeping track of
085how many they do but you can't count yeah not that high buddy Anderson says sounds good looks good watching from Columbia Illinois hold stti for Columbia Eagles thanks for listening Jason Stapleton texted earlier sounds good looks good let us know that TJ didn't update the scoreboard still said first quarter hopefully we got that uh change now the new vice president for the quarterback Club always doing stuff with the Blue Jays great guy that guy is ain't he great guy yeah somebody wants to hit somebody all right let's get a big stop here going to halftime with a two-score lead I would love it oh short kick this time going to be caught at about the 19 yd line Eagles get down Qui great job oh man we lost Edge now we're going to have to
086make a play at the 35 it's going to be number 11 Aaron p and a whole swarm of eagles Hicks was there got a little I think musku was back there again too looked like Hicks got a little bit two sucked into that inside like you said lost that outside edge Hicks knows it too he come over he knows that he uh missed it but it's all right 35 yd line we're still in good position here for the defense 330 Taylorville has one timeout Eagles have one timeout looks like first time we're going to see Cruz Cory in the game tonight as well think he checked in for Lincoln Corbin I'm not Tak or quivero four down linemen now two linebackers start there's guys moving everywhere yeah got to call something there fall start on
087the tornadoes first and 15 now did they shift out of something there on the offensive side or did our guys just get confused yeah I think our guys got a little bit confused cuz you had two guys on the right side moving and the whole left side of the line didn't move at all did you speaking of guys running in not knowing what's going on Clemson Georgia a couple weeks ago I think the right tackle went to the left the left guard ran into the right tackle they were everyone was going everywhere four down linemen three linebackers manto man outside going to be a bootle off to the left they got the middle of the field it's going to be Hicks ball gets by him and it's going to fall incomplete that's Nelson that wasn't
088Hicks no they're both back there we got lucky on that at modern day week one W two or three times where the receiver kind of got past our corner or safety and all they did was Chuck the ball deep but over threw him so we're in the right spot he just got us beat by a couple yards I tell you what I've been very impressed by our defensive backs this year Hicks is always there knocking balls down the speed that you have out of Nelson pool's back there now you got vaguely running around I mean we got a lot of speed and a lot of athletes back there and it's been fun to watch this year sounds good looks good from Cuba Mo three down lineman for the Eagles doubles for the tornadoes running back
089right I'd like another pass play here going to be a SL a vertical up the middle they're going to try to throw it it's going to go to No Man's Land it's going to fall incomplete that's what we want right there 3:15 now if you get a stop here you're at third and 15 Jared shaking his head yes we're going to call a timeout if we get a stop here you got it might as well use it the way your offense has been moving you got to take a chance and Mason's look really good throwing the ball tonight definitely the best half we've seen him play I I think all season I know it's only been two games but you see coach Herer running down by Coach G right now and Coach herner's even running
090next to the side judge so I got a feeling he's going to be in his ear calling timeout as soon as he can big play here for the Eagles try to get that ball back doubles rolling out to the left side they're going to look deep they got to set it up and he's going to be throwing it before he wants to it's going to be great defense there by the Eagles and they're going to throw a late penalty on Mason I think that comes from a bad ball and had to get spun around that's a tough break for the Eagles you're right where you want to be you got everything that you want and a bad ball forces that penalty yeah CU then you force that receiver to have to come back to it
091whenever Mason's already Underneath Him so it's going to be Pi on the Eagles got what you wanted just it was a B I mean there's there's nothing you can do about that call so it's going to be first and 10 ball to the 42 you still got 309 so you're all right maybe you can try to get them to throw it again and you can still be in the same spot this is a big drive cuz they get the ball coming out second half four down lineman three linebackers man man going to be a run up the middle this time it's going to be good for about seven maybe eight Got Five Guys laying on the ground if I'm Taylorville I'm getting on the ball quick like you said in that first drive they had
092or second Drive I want to say they had they're on the ball Hudson turn around Hudson going to be the same play this time again this time nothing going good job there by the defensive front third and short they going to give it to him here I bet you they give it to him they're the home team they're going to give it to him they're the home team oh come on you're not even going to measure dude whatever man yeah you look like the inside ref wanted to measure and then he said ask screw it first down going for it first and 10 from the Eagles 47 227 let that clock keep ticking don't fall asleep if you're one of pegan Thompson [Music] here good job there by the Eagles once again nothing going look
093at that there's four or five eagles making the tackle you got to love that number 72 for the Eagles ran on late Dylan Robinson and he still comes up with a tackle they dropped Keegan back deep kind of going I guess to a cover two at that point like pivo was in on that tackle too like Brody Furlow little shaken up everybody was telling them to go down for an injury timeout looks like that's what it's going to be 148 here left in this first half so now if you're Ro get off the field this isn't an official timeout so the officials can blow the whistle right away and you don't want to give Taylorville an extra time out to figure stuff out but then if you have a guy coming off and nobody coming
094on it's 11 verse 10 you're at a little disant disadvantage they would say look like it might just be a cramp hopefully for Furlow getting stretched on the sideline there number 73 for the Eagles uh that's going to be Corbin I believe 51 checking in as well looks like Jake vulmer for Brody furo three down lineman three linebackers and to go man out wide vaguely is going to be with number 84 Hicks is going to be manto man as well he's off is he not he's pretty close I think they're he's all right empty backfield going to be a pass to the left side Eagles are going to play far off they're going to give it to him good job there by making an open field tackle Mason vagle clock I don't know why the
095clock stopped 1 minute 40 they're still wanting to roll it they're still wanting to roll it now it's going that's was probably five seconds minimum and that matters at the end of a half of course every second matters tight end right doubles stacked again out wide empty backfield minute 25 third and six quarterback right up the middle this time once again great push out of the tornadoes and that's going to be good for a first down the Eagles r on skates that clock ey is pretty quick he's hitting it before the refs blow the whistle takes the ball to the 3 yd line first and 10 tornadoes first and 10 for the tornadoes at the 36 ball set chains are set clock started same formation once again only two linemen FSE start no it's going
096to be a pop pass they're going to throw it across the middle great job Mason vagley making a play where's the false start by the right tackle those are optional coach owners is letting the white hat hear it gosh good job Mason not falling asleep there second and 10 minute two clock is stopped now it's supposed to be stopped Taylorville slown it down 15 seconds on the play clock doing a makeshift huddle second and 10 Eagles three down linemen two linebackers manto man across the board from the looks of it here quarterback's going to set up for another screen play Eagles got three guys in the back field they're going to have to make an open field tackle once again it's going to be forced out of bounds vaguely and Hicks are going to make
097the tackle 53 seconds in the first half now good open field tackling this week by the Eagles and minimal arm tackling third and four what do you got Jared I mean if I'm Taylorville I'm going to try to get columia to jump off sides here I think they what have one timeout left or yep one timeout left quarterback's been known to keep it I'm calling a little roll out here to this right side Keegan playing about 12 yards off the inside guy hean bringing the juice they got a man in the end zone but it's going to be brought down by Odum brought down at the 37 and another penalty flag on the play those shoulder pads horse Coller I think it might have been enough for a first down anyway but was close 46
098seconds now in the half [Music] come on Eagles so now the ball's going to get into the Red Zone ball at the Eagles 14 Eagles defense needs to make a stop we're right there again on a couple different plays trips to the left side single Receiver right running back right roll out that way now they like using that wide side of the field one's going to run a little arrow route one goes with the arrow they go with a little snag ball goes up in the air it's going to fall incomplete we got to play just like that got a post got a snag and an arrow we throw a bubble with it but only four or four seconds taken off the play clock there game clock 42 seconds 21-7 Eagles in the first half
099this drive the defense has kind of been on been on skates like I said we were in the spots to make the plays two untimely penalties that pioo yeah doubles tight end left quarterback going to fake a hand off nothing going Cooper Wes in the back field forces the quarterback to throw it it's going to be caught got to make another open field tackle and we do good job Logan Hicks bringing the guy down at the 12 yd line timeout Taylorville good job Cooper white getting in the back field good job open field tackle Logan Hicks great fake by the quarterback to no one to no one that's really like you're the quarterback you can see who's next to you not next to you and you usually know the formation yeah you should third and
100eight now 32 seconds the final timeout was taken there by Taylorville so if you can yeah if we can tackle inbounds here that's going to force Taylorville to make a decision if they want to go up and Spike it but I mean then they can't it's it'll be fourth down so this is kind of a big play here keeping them in bounds you can end the half here if you keep them in bounds I feel a throw is definitely coming though you got third and eight and if it goes incomplete who cares then you your clock stops like they're going to use this wide side of the field once again do that roll out I'm bringing Coupe on the blitz if anything gota be ready for that quarterback to keep it though try to force
101him back inside now you got beat on the corner earlier on the wheel or wheel got he got beat in the corner of the end zone at least so you got to be mindful of that Coach G still rolling with the shorts tonight all right let's see what Coach G Drew up trips to the right side running back right play action boot this way out three defensive backs over here can't fall asleep on the backside that's going to be Hicks on an island by himself motion man one nothing going it's going to be quads to the right side they're going to throw it it's a double pass and it's going to be caught by Taylorville touchdown tornadoes I can tell you what I didn't see out coming oh [Music] man quit talking get back on
102defense don't get another stupid penalty yeah I didn't see that coming at all yeah one came in motion just a simple little flare route if you want to call it and somebody slipped out of one of those receivers slipped out and able to be wide open once again the same spot he caught the first one good snap good hold kick up did he push it to the left I think he did no good on the pat so that keeps the score Columbia 21 Taylorville 13 26 seconds to go here in the first [Music] half see what happens that's a huge drive there out of Taylorville to get into the end zone and get a little bit of momentum last two drives been touchdowns correct yep I think we've scored on every possession I think we've
103only had three Poss possessions right I think and if you're coach Horner here I don't think you want to get too pretty I think we only got one timeout left now that would just take the KNE go unless you can get the ball at to 50 or something like that but that Pi man that oh that's I I think that's the play of the game right now if that's not called we got about two minutes to go down and score make it a three possession game I think that that just changed the whole out or not the outcome but what this game could look like in the second half during our halftime show we're going to honor Matt once again with a couple writings and Zack Daly's been sending scores in we'll read some scores
104that he's been sending us he's watching in town so Zach if you're listening keep sending scores Bud we'll talk about them at halftime we'll give a little breakdown of this game number one going to be a squib kick picked up and down at the 34 by C white looks like coach herner is wanting to make a play call here not bad just take a couple shots you got 26 seconds think going to call Pi though and they had that first down the the uh ball spot where that guy was like all right we'll just move him first down that's three plays right there but Eagles still up 2113 starting trips right here trips right janik's going to be your running back to the right side bigley's going to roll out to the right he's got
105Keegan throws it to Keegan it's good for a first down he gets out of bounds it's going to be at the Eagles 48 yd line gain of 18 take your time here take your time if you're the Eagles I don't know how big of a leg Keegan's got but I mean if you can get close to the 2530 you can take a shot kicking a field goal you still got that one timeout so if you need to throw it down the middle of the field you can you don't have to work those Sidelines only six seconds taken off 20 seconds strips to the left side running back left I'm going to imagine a roll out left here it comes right at us it's going to have to set up this time now vagle is going
106to have to scramble he's going to try to go to the right side he's going to have enough to get to the first down maybe went out a yard short we'll see what the spot is look like an eagle lineman yard short white hats giving him the first down we'll take it 12 12 seconds balls at the 41 so that's going to be a 58 yard kick same formation here you need a ball down the middle of the field here and then quick timeout if you can only two down linemen one linebacker after that everyone's in the middle of of the field and safeties we got three safeties playing deep this time vagle is going to set up he's looking in the middle of the field he's got Keegan it's going to be caught down
107at the 27 timeout Eagles three seconds to GOP now we got the well now what do we got going on calling it incomplete pass is ruled incomplete bring the ball back to the original line of scage at the 41 yd line why they move the down marker right away I don't know they call it a catch on the field I guess the booth review said it was incomplete now ball goes incomplete going to be a first or second and 10 now from the 41 see what the iPad has to say who's got it on the sideline so now does time go back on the clock probably not huh what a odd change of events that was well and if it's incomplete you don't want to use your time out there well yeah there's 3 seconds
108at least you can try to throw something around but we'll see what happens now 41 yards I don't know if Mason's got the arm strength for that but at least send it up there and see what happens can end on a penalty so if there is a pi down there try it over again so Eagles now use their third timeout 2113 tornadoes do get the ball coming out in the second half just watching Coach G there he was waving his hands up like the official called it a completion and was like waving the clock to be stopped not an incomplete pass so not really sure what happened there they're saying the official From The Far Side based on hand motions official From The Far Side of the field called it incomplete nonetheless three down lineman
109trips to the left side doubles to the right vaguely should not get touched here three guys blitzing with five offensive linemen and he's gotten pressure and it's going to have to be thrown away incomplete pass and that's coach is asking for grounding over there well hey if the uh play clock or the game clock would have started on time they said that play just took one second so we get another untime down now are they going to say that it or just take a knee how did one second only come off the clock started at three now we're at two third and 10 looks like we're going to be in that Victory formation just take a knee send it to half what a crazy end of the first half yeah coach Warner talking to the
110ref down here down here so that's going to be the end of the first half Columbia leads it very good first half I thought leading up to those last two drives there it was a real goofy end of the first half but they're going to lead it 2113 here in Taylorville we're going to run to a commercial and when we come back from the commercial we'll give you our little insights and uh we'll talk first half Columbia Eagle football and bring you some more scores welcome back to kchs right after this [Music] he [Music] n [Music] he [Music] you w [Music] m [Music] oh e [Music] oh [Music] w [Music] we [Music] for [Music] w [Music] a [Music] nah [Music] he [Music] I'm Logan hi I'm Aaron p and we like to give a quick
111shout out to Alicia o be and Edward Jones for providing us the team meal allowing us to play our best and stomach full too no Eagles thank you once again to Alicia Oglesby for getting our pregame meal tonight Chick-fil-A so far so good working for the Eagles here as they uh have a seven point or eight-point lead 21- 13 745 remaining and half time you got your 50-50 tickets out I didn't get one didn't get one I going to get a hot dog but that line was too dang long so I guess we're stopping at McDonald's on the way home there's an Arby's there's an Arby's yeah what else oh that Sonic it was one of the world's nicest Sonics we saw too how many towns we drive through getting here Alex little towns yeah
112I think 250 250 900 we went 10 miles and never even turned it was the longest straightest Road I think I've ever been on in my life oh man so Jared we look here 715 now in the halftime uh with it being homecoming I guess it was an extended halftime they did a little dance routine with the loudest music that we've ever heard sounded good but it was loud and it forced our team to move over to the shop put area to be able to talk up there so Jared let's talk a little bit of first first half uh thoughts stats thought we're doing pretty good up until that last drive we said that a couple times but the Eagles offense doing a lot better this week than they did last week yeah we came
113out our offense looked pretty dang good running the ball really well Jay jayon Nelson putting him in motion a lot which is messing with their defense defensive side of thing so um as long as we can get him some some touches I want I want to see Hicks get a little little more involved on the offensive side as well uh but I think M this has been Mason's maybe his best game of his career uh so far made a couple great tackles getting down the alley on the defensive side of the ball throwing the ball really well tonight um so I think all around our offensive line looks looks looks pretty good I think the only thing uh going into the half was couple penalties there um we would have got the ball around Midfield
114with two minutes left and could have went down and went up three scores but um they went down and scored after a couple penalties and turned it into a one possession game in the one penalty the pass interference there on vagle it was just a severely underthrown ball he was trying to spin around make a play um I think both guys got a little handsy but yeah I guess was in the worst of the two spots so official called it on him so you know you can't complain too too much about that and uh we'll see what they got drawn up here as Taylorville gets the ball coming out of halftime they're not even out here yet I guess they went back to the school I'm not really sure where I saw them run off
115too Eagles are kind of mingling a little bit down here to our right as the kickers are getting ready to start making their kicks uh let's talk a little bit about scores in the area had some good ones tonight Rochelle verse Highland at Illinois Westley and Belleville East was at Alto that would have been a great game and Chester at the end of the first quarter was leading freeberg 14 to7 Roxana was leading Civic Memorial 25 to3 in the second quarter there goes cm's perfect season yeah and then now you look a little bit more live stats as they were sent to us by Zack 10 minutes ago alof leads bille East 28-21 in the second quarter coin leads Heron 8 nothing kinville leads Carbondale 7-2 in the second quarter and keep in mind that
116is a football score not a baseball score seven yeah that is Zach didn't mess up on that one yeah maybe that's supposed to be 12 I don't know seven to two yeah three I mean it's possible it's very possible I would have known there was something off if it was seven to one but seven to2 there in that game no there was an NFL game Alex the other day there were two safeties in the same game and there was almost a third ball at the one yard line and I can't remember which one it was I think it might have been the Seahawks Broncos game they literally had two safeties in like two possessions and I don't think I've ever seen that happen before what's the thing ihsa score zone that'll give us some scores
117there too won't it I haven't been on Twitter X we're not going to look at that that's nothing going since May usually if you type in 618 football on there and just search it get a couple scores all in one all one word you're good that was from 2021 here let me try this 2020 here I got you let me see if I can find oh this one's from 2018 Chester leads freeberg 217 and half and that's the only score I got from 618 football all right there's that well we tried 328 now Taylorville is still not out here coach Zack George and Coach Kyle stump making their way back up to the Press Box you know one thing we haven't really mentioned the new coaches that we have this year for the Eagles coach
118George in his first season Auggie hangle making his first in the Columbia sideline coach Stewart coming back was a principal back in the day he's coming back and uh he's on the side line so nice to have some familiar faces and some new faces coming back here on the Eagles sideline we got coach stump he's coming up he's been here on the sideline up in the booth for the last three or four years and when he gets up here Jared we're going to let you go ahead and do a little halftime interview with Coach stump so we're going to hand it over here's a headset coach DP you got two minutes I'll ask him a couple questions so on the defensive side of the ball how do you think we've looked so far in that
119first half oh not too bad we've we've uh held them when we need to hold them for the most part gave up a couple big plays one on that trick play the double pass got us there just got to stay in coverage and uh offensive look offenses look a lot better than last week I want to say offensive line has looked much better than last week anything you want to add yeah just being able to consistently move the ball um we'd only ran shoot 15 plays I think uh for the most part last week and having the ability to sustain drives here has been nice all right perfect thank you coach St thanks 148 left I think they're going to add three minutes on they had 15 minutes when it started then they went up
120to 20 for the longer homecoming so we'll see if they add three more after this first minutes rock or not roxan Taylorville still not out on the field Columbia doing their stretches refs are all out here so we'll see if we have to go a little longer in this halftime or we're we're going to get right back to football modern day leads Effingham 1410 thanks to Zach right there we'll see if we can get a hold of Sam Herer down on the sideline do a little call in see if we can get his uh onfield perspective of how things are going see if we can get this to work we got a new mix up here we get it figured out one week and now we're getting a little little aggressive thinking we know what's
121going on I think you just ignored your call TJ no he oh TJ the person you're trying to Y he ignored you oh well it was a good effort they are going to put three more minutes on the game clock here for stretching purposes Sam you got us down there I do you got us down there all right so what do you think your first half your uh sideline reports and what the what the game plan is for the second half you know I don't think coaches are are planning on doing too much it was a a pretty good first half from the eagles's offense um you know a lot of stuff that's been stressed down here is they feel like they're you know about two plays away from this game you know being 21
122nothing or potentially even 28 nothing so I think just being more sound on defense and and you know being levelheaded and playing your assignments and offensively I think that you they're going to take what the defense gives them but um you know can't fix what's what's not broken right so they're just going to keep counting that rock I think so we've been talking we think this is probably Mason Begley's best game that he's had best balls that he's thrown um when you look at the balls that he's throwing and you look at the run really got a lot of opt options all night long 100% I mean he he has looked fantastic I've been talking down here with Coach pen a little bit about how well he's looked I mean on that roll out pass
123um you know going going towards the the school I feel like he had some zip on on that um across the middle so you know he looked pretty good there and then he hit Hicks you know down the middle on the 30 yd line on that vertical early in the first quarter so you know again I don't think the Eagles really need to to switch up too much may keeps you know taking care of the ball and doing what they're doing and you know I think it'll it'll be a good night for the Eagles on the defensive play on the first touchdown do you know was that a wheel route that we messed up on or was it just a double move we couldn't really see what happened did you get anything down there I
124think I think it was just a vertical out of the one with an out route out of out of the slot I believe uh Eagle defense there a little bit of a cover two look there and a bit of a miscommunication between the safety and the corner so safety didn't really get over toping them kind s there EAS so all right well thanks for joining us down there uh like I said we got the sound work in one week and now we're making phone calls so well hey I'll be down here all night all right we can give you a call back maybe between the third and fourth quarter so keep that phone on you so thanks for joining us here on kchs and we got a minute here now before the second half starts
125Eagles are going to be kicking off defense first hopefully uh coach G's got the the wording figured out and got the guys figured out what's going to be happening here in the second half 45 seconds now for halftime Jered your three keys now let's say for the second half to have a good first half like Sam said I think you just got to keep keep doing what you've been doing up front we've been we've done everything we've wanted to do um like he also said Mason's moving the ball really well so I think you just trust that trust your guys on on the offensive offensive line um and on defensive side of things I think you just keep doing what you're doing on that side too um get those key stops on third down like
126we've been doing all night force them to Fourth Down force them to maybe go for it and try to get some turnovers on Downs I mentioned this earlier Coach G still wearing the uh the shorts that's a new look this year that I don't think he I think he said it's the first time it's ever been allowed on a CHS sideline so usually get hat backwards in the second half I don't think we've seen that at all not at any point this year like to give a shout out Kurt stump listening at home tonight make sure you let us know where you're listening from we've had text and comments coming from everywhere so get involved with the broadcast we'd love to uh shout out your name yeah Keegan's gonna send it deep he's doing all
127the same steps that all kickers do that you know got to make sure you go seven steps this way just stand in the same spot you know where it's going to be I'm cutting in front of you again all right second half action is underway with a kick that's going to be caught at about the 16 yd line good job Once Again by The Eagles getting down number four is going to get up the middle now it's a bunch of missed tackles though Keegan's in on the tackle you never want that good Fielding position for Taylorville they're going to to start at their own 41 yd line Eagles defense on their heels a little bit Eagles team on their heels a little bit even though they have the eight-point lead it felt like an extra
128long halftime too with the homecoming and everything going on so we'll see if Columbia's still ready to play here up eight Math's listening at Aces wild Grant Math's Mom and Dad listening at Aces Grant always texting about where he can listen as well number one's the motion man to the left side going to be quarterback up the middle good Pursuit there by the Eagles but nothing going muscu was in the back field just couldn't get close enough to make the tackle but it's going to be a gain of three second and seven Turn My Headphones Up to listen to Sam and I'm getting blown away over here trips to the right side single receiver left running back right he's about a yard or two away going to be quarterback rolling to the right side he's
129looking deep he's going to tuck it and run he's going to slide slide short third and a long a short two third thought they were going to throw a flag [Music] there great job by Jan just be there though make sure he's sliding down be third and two like Alex said here coach Raine you don't know if you want to bring a blitz here but most likely quarterback's going to keep it in my opinion right up the middle three down lineman now four coming up showing Blitz quarterback going to hand it off he's going to get stuffed gain a one short one ball at the 50 yd line like cam janick made that play went low on the running back Dr Herer texting in said put Sam out there as the coach replaced the old
130man fourth and one let's see if the young Buck's going to call something here Coach G fourth and one at the 50 oh he's off sides off sides now how can that official From The Far Side of the field call it and this guy that's 18 yards away not call it I think that's what coach Germaine's saying there how in the I do not understand the ball wasn't snapped I don't know he could he had time to scoot back a yard even half a yard it was just the tip of his helmet hanging over the ball there that's a o that one hurts there but first down and 10 ball at the Eagles 45 yd line I had a feeling tub sneak was coming up anyways and they were probably two two for two tonight
131on that quarterback going to throw it a little now route to number 84 on the side of the field brought down nothing going Logan Hicks great job by Logan get to the football there like you said a little now route just catch it and sling it out there to your receiver in open space see what he can do with it great job by Logan open field tackle bring up second and eight quick note from the Cardinal game Cardinal player Thomas sisi just hits his first major league home run tonight Cardinals are tied 33 trips to their right side doubles to the left second and eight empty backfield quarterback looking in the middle of the field he's got number four going to be caught gain of nine good for a first down that's just a flat
132Defender read right there for the quarterback if he wants to stay in the flat you're going to throw that Arrow I mean that's same play we talked about earlier yeah great ball there by 15 the quarterback there he took a hit from Furlow he was kind of looking at the ref thinking it was a little after he uh released the ball but no call going to be an empty set here on First and 10 same formation ball on the right hash Eagle showing Blitz number two's going to be the motion man going to be pull someone's helmet just flew off how in the world that helmet was [Music] launched I'm sure they know guys I'm sure they know so number 7 6 is going to come off 51's going to come on for the one
133play since he lost his helmet going to be a gain of six eight minutes now already had four minutes taken off in this third quarter three down linemen four linebackers manto man across the board for the Eagles defense running back to the left side I'm going to say it's going to be a pass play here going to be a quarterback draw up the middle nothing going number 51 just came into the game number 51 is the reason that I think that sack happened he's coming off [Music] now big play here third down again we saw this all game last week this is exactly where they would be third and four clock would keep running pick up another first down and we couldn't get that defense off the field definitely in four territory if you're Taylorville
134try to get into more of a manageable fourth down or try to pick it up here third and four motion man number one going to come to the right side he's going to get under center it's going to be a draw up the Middle with number one see if they can oh he's going to bust it to the outside now he just got out of the grips of the Defenders the nothing going for him at the start but instead it's going to be good of 25 yards he was stuffed up the middle and then went out to the outside sandstrm are listening in town enjoying it and thanking the sponsors for making it possible first and goal from the three 658 Eagles lead at 2113 but that's in Jeopardy quarterback sneak up the middle false
135start hopefully going to be a false start took the so the far official looked like he was the one blowing the whistle could have called a couple of those in the first half too he never threw a flag he just started walking in blowing his whistle looks like we got an injured Eagle forj in the end zone not sure who it is looks like it might be 77 bro furo who a little shaken up in that first quarter go to a college score real quick from Zack number 14 Kansas State leads number 20 Arizona 147 at half Kansas leads UNLV 1716 which is being played at the Sporting KC soccer stadium with the injury we're going to run to a commercial break real quick and when we come back we'll have first and goal from
136the eight right right here on kchs [Music] you're watching blue Pride football on kchs thanks for the colum quarterback Club [Music] he [Music] welcome back to Columbia Eagles football on kchs presented by the Columbia quarterback Club Brody furo is the injured Eagle as he comes off the field under his own power kind of sort of false start on the play as a loss of five brings up first down and goal from the eight 657 in the third quarter like 75 checked in Dan quivo bro fur here on this first and goal from the eight double stack once again four down linemen three linebackers middle linebacker is Cam Janet he's going to step up shows Blitz now he comes off quarterback good job by the Eagles getting in the back field right away quivo to first
137one make contact like 71 as well 71 Owen Mankey crawling back to get to the quarterback gain a one k musk up back there as well good stop by the eagles only a gain of one second and goal from the seven need a big stop here 625 left in this third quarter same formation Taylorville heads good success out of this formation going to be quarterback to the right side penalty flag thrown C janick in the back field making a play gain of one see what the flag is Cam's holding his shoulder again do you if you're Coach G if this is on the offense do you accept it and push him back false start against the tornadoes why is it a false start you play out the entire play yeah I agree Janet comes off
138Dylan Robinson coming on Jan who was questionable to play tonight decided to suit up after having a somewhat of a shoulder injury last week good to see him out there but came off on that last play kind of holding that shoulder so hopefully we can get him back in the game second and 12 from the 12 trips to the left side they're going to look in the middle of the end zone it's going to be another screen pass going to try to get to the right side and it's going to be into the End Zone number one for the tornadoes tornado can't stop that play that screen's been beating us up it's the same screen that we used to beat other teams up on though back in the day looks like they're going to keep
139the offense on the field try to tie the ball game up here as the cheers says block that kick make a stop you need one here bad ball I bet they got a play for the quarterback here looks like they're going to be in somewhat of a heavy set quarterback going to go under Center two tight ends sniffer back to the left side he's scooting in going to be quarterback going to keep he's going to look to the back of the end zone he's got a guy open and it's finally [Music] thrown two-point conversion is good so that takes the score Taylorville 21 Columbia 21 604 on the game clock we're going to run to a commercial break and whenever we come back we'll bring you some more of the third quarter ball game all
140kned up [Music] love Nick here thanks to com quarterback club we get to watch K football live at kchs welcome back to Taylorville High School where the Eagles and the tornadoes are tied 2121 604 in the third quarter Taylorville had the ball for 6 minutes right there to start the second half and they had all that momentum going into the half after a big Drive put together on a couple penalties to get in the end zone 21 13 and then great drive there to start second half off tie it up going to be caught by janick at the 20 going to try to make something happen he's going to keep his feet moving good return there out of janic takes it to the 36 so the kicker just kicked the ball off from the 40
141the T landed at the 36 he kicked the T 24 yards so 16 yard return unofficially I've given up on keeping stats over here just enjoy the game out yeah call it Eagles got to get something going on offense a little bit of panic mode setting in on the sideline got to make something H happen or at least have a good drive tight end left Nelson left High snap brought down handed off to Nelson who's going to run to the right side put his foot in the ground put his shoulder down gain three maybe four gets it to the 39 yd line Second and seven good to see a little bit motion to start off this drive see if we can get Hicks a little bit involved got this wide side of the field with
142the linebacker playing kind of right in right in the middle of him doubles to the left side sniffer back left running back right hand the ball off to him he's going to set his foot in the ground good blocking for the Eagles good job by the Eagles seven yards first and 10 columia don't get a stupid penalty second guy always gets caught we saw that week one at modern day good blocking all around for the Eagles right there maybe one block away from having a big game y stock blocking out there is not easy as a receiver especially if that Ball's coming on the wide side of the field you got two three four guys flowing the ball first down Eagles Nelson Mosen man going to fake it to him it's going to be Hicks
143around the left side here he's got enough 3540 30 yd line great game by Logan Hicks there gets knocked out of bounds around the 25 yd line good play call there as a reverse fake gain of about 30 I want to say quick math be about 30 yards clock tiing 450 left in this third quarter Columbia on a pretty good drive here start off this third quarter after Taylorville scored on the first one fake it to Hicks give it to Nelson nothing going onall carrier tack loss of two or three Los of play two clock keeps ticking though that's all right we'll take that Bryant going to be lined up at the tight end position once again with almost a trips set to the rights fake bag's gonna have to scramble now late hit we
144got it looked like Mason just scrambled there it was going to be a pass able to pick up the first down it looks like with a a shove at the end of the play maybe going to be an extra 15 for the Eagles to put us into the Red Zone we needed to catch that break right there needed that break bad personal foul against tornadoes ref still spotting the ball here going to be around the 11 yd line for the Eagles it will be first and 10 first and 10 from the so one yd line gets you a first down here so you can play around with a couple plays not play around but little leniency here on the offensive side of things going to send Nelson in motion he's going to fake it it's
145going to be the reverse again the Hicks and he looks like he's going to walk into the end zone for an eagle touchdown ran that play probably two plays ago with Hicks on the little counter fak to Nelson great play call there by coach Horner to get Logan Hicks in the end zone and the Eagles Take A 2721 lead pending the extra point here by Keegan Thompson see if we can make this a seven-point game been a very entertaining game so far snap is good good hold kick is good kick is good that takes the score Columbia 28 Taylorville 21344 to go good play call there Jared first one of the night get yourself a touchdown I think that happened last year yeah I get that luck sometimes yeah great great couple play calls there
146by coach Horner though I like have we seen that little end round I think we saw it at modern day once or twice I think that's what Logan might have scored on if I'm not mistaken but great job by Mason selling the fake to Jace everybody thinks the ball's going to him because that's what we've been doing all night sending him in motion and kind of uses it as RPO with Mason and Jace but that third option comes in with Logan Hicks running that counteraction great job by coach horer recognized that great blocking by the o line and there was no one on that left side tackle Hicks Eagles Take the Lead great Series right there the Eagles had to have that series whether you were going to hold the ball for a long time
147to calm everything down or you were going to score picked up a couple first downs got Lu on a late hit down there to give us extra 15 and we had first and 10 on the 11 which is what we should have had earlier like you said so we had eight eight almost eight plays to run inside the 11 if we needed it but it only took one believe this is Mason Cunningham on the kick and it is going to be caught at the 12 yd line going to try to get up the middle are the tornadoes nothing really going but a good hard run brings it up to the 37 yd line the torado now you got to get another stop come on Eagles D I want to see a big play by either
148Hudson Bryan or Cooper W here try to set the edge maybe try to punch that football out try to get another fumble recovery and I think momentum's back on our side a little bit after Taylorville came out and scored got to keep our composure here yep yes we do 337 left Taylorville is going to take over on 38 yd line first and 10 doubles running back left three down lineman for the Eagles four linebackers get out there CP good tackle open field tackle loss of five nothing going Cooper W out there to make the play It's almost like I knew he was going to make a play right there called it now they're going to run the ball up the middle going to go incomplete oh no they're rolling out this way now anytime they
149like they like running the roll out when they got trips watch out for that screen pass as well doubles left trips right empty backfield quarterback sets up that snag right in the middle again good for a first down and a lot more from the 33 to the 33 nope 33 to the [Music] 29 get they're getting on the ball we better we better turn around and get ready cuz they're already on the ball ready to snap first and 10 doubles to the right side on the play quarterback's going to have to pick it up make something happen gain of two and again Eagles struggling to get back we've mentioned that a couple times now yeah they got to be ready cuz right here Taylorville knows you're a little bit of sleep on a Long play
150like that especially the lineman who aren't used to running that far down field running back takes it up the middle going to be a good gain another third down it looks like third and short third and two hear the coach from over here saying get down and ready and I've been I would have been doing that all the first half too we tired when they did it on that second Drive of the game went down and scored quarterback's going to go up the Middle look how they're splits linemen are right on top of each other quarterback's going to go under Center 155 thinking a QB Dr sneak here yep QB sneak good for five first and 10 Ball's going to be down at the 16 and 3/4 yd line I think they should keep running
151that play we haven't been able to stop it all night T night they're getting three four or five yards of play quarterback's got a pretty good arm on pretty good arm on on him on him though I cannot talk Alex that's all right quarterback going to hand it off up the middle number two is going to run Straight Ahead good run gain of four Corbin gonna check in for minky Big Boy swap getting on the ball again quick up and at him going be second and five here pretty much same formation all night snap it to the other side good job by not falling asleep Logan Hicks and Cooper white like Cooper wanted to come inside a little bit for the for try to get that running back but quarterback kept it bootle great job
152of Logan to stay home third and three here and we've had third Downs it's been the story of the Eagles defense all season long see if we can try to get a stop third and three minute three quarterback going to stay in shotgun tight end right sniffer back right pistol back running back he's going to go up the middle and W boy he going to be short I think he is let that clock keep going I don't care fourth and one I'm going Dono up the middle I know I'm what I'm running if I'm Taylorville coach STP acting like we're important up here we can't get out of his way 15 seconds on the play clock 30 on the game clock so they're going to have to call play on this fourth and one this
153could be a big play here and they're going to line up in shotgun running back to the right side it's going to be enough for a first down barely I don't know if I like that play call I would run QB sneak right up the middle but take it to the quarter works out Taylorville to the come on S seconds on the game get us to jump off sides maybe I don't know four seconds didn't get it off no way got to like make sure those home field officials know that they did not get it off and as the third quarter ends it was a quick one Eagles are leading it 28-21 on kchs presented by the Columbia quarterback Club we'll bring you the fourth quarter right after this he [Music] thanks Columbia quarterback club
154for making it possible for those out of town to tune in and watch us play at kchs go Eagles [Music] fourth quarter action Eagles lead up by seven first and goal from the six a good game here that we've had all night all going to be down to a fun fourth quarter thanks once again for all of our sponsors and supporters for making this happen Victoria simser photography for getting the head shots and game shots Sharky classin he sends us some pictures as well it's a team effort up here on kchs to get these broadcasts out to you TI and left sniffer back left pistol back running back going to be a bootleg to the right side Nelson's going to be on defense quarterback's going to tuck it he's going to dive for the pylon
155he's going to get into the end zone touchdown Taylorville Baron scram for thech that's just a good play out of your senior quarterb back right there knowing what he's got and first and goal you don't take any chances if you can get there get there see if he can miss another extra point here that'd be nice missed one in the first half to make it 2113 which was the halftime score they came out tied it up 21-21 we went down the field took the lead they just went right back down the field trying to tie it back up good snap good hold kick is up and missed it again missed it again missed it again again coach Kendall called that he was out on the field before I think the officials even knew what was
156going on where'd he miss it far left boy my death perception's terrible thought he pushed it right we need that heck yeah Eagles lead at 2827 now 1153 so I hate the I hate when the offense kind of takes it easy keep your don't get conservative that's a good keep running what you've been running all night try to take a little bit of clock off try to punch one in to make it a little more difficult for Taylorville but if you're coach Warner I mean I think knock on wood but I think we've scored every Drive we've had the ball knock we've only had four possessions wow that seems shocking to me or did we turn it over one time on Downs I can't remember in that first half but uh we might have I
157think we were like a foot [Music] short down here on to our right yep you're right so I think we're four for five then go out of bounds again out of bounds take it and that I mean you can tell just special teams matter in games like like this compared to getting the ball around the 15 yd line which we did in the first two kicks make him re kick by Keegan pinning them inside the 15 and then missing extra points blocking punts which led to a Columbia score now they got to scoot back five yards I believe and do a reick Jace is GNA come up to the second level Janet goes to the back level see if we can get the ball in Jace's hands over there try to use this wide side
158of the field on our sideline I would drop Hudson back a little bit and towards the or and towards the middle a little bit Yeah cuz it's obvious they're wanting to keep it out of Nelson's hands y k it out of bounds again now they send it deep go to bounds this side it's going to out ofs and make him re kick again I love cat and mouse love it go ahead I'd put Nelson in the middle of the field now and just let him go go get it scoot back five more yards to the 30 I think it'll be now how can so how can you hide they're wanting to kick at the janx so how can you hide janic I'd put janic maybe up in the second row do you drop Coupe back
159yeah or now I guess you can put janic back which it looks like he's going to if they kick it out of bounds now it's going to go out over there there and that's where we're going to get the football they like kicking it from that hash I don't know why they don't choose to kick it in the middle you've kicked it out of bounds three times tonight this what I'm saying special teams can matter now we can get good field position here as long as we don't fumble need a good return maybe get it to Midfield now they had a different kicker out there was the left footer he's going to be caught by Hicks at the 26 yd line he's going to try to go to the left side he's going to get
160to about the 38 so all of that probably for where we would have started in the first place that's where the Eagles offense is going to take over 62 yards ahead of it trying to get into the end zone one more time big drive here you got to take some clock you got to get in the end zone been a fun game back and forth it seems like been a one possession game besides opening 14 nothing Eagles lead but since then Taylorville has fought back down one point 1149 flag on the what's the penalty there's another flag illegal procedure kicking team FAL start kicking team another five yard penalty so you had two out of bounds had a false start on the kicking team where's the ball going to the 25 oh my gosh re
161kick again let's bust it now that would be nice my bet they kick it oh no betting in Sports no betting in sports there is betting not not high school sports not for money at least I have uh me and uh trainer James sepich every year he's from Washington and got family from metamor it's a big rivalry up in Central Illinois we bet Donuts every year two long johns I think he's a chalk of milk I don't remember anymore kick goes deep going to be caught by Hicks at the 30 he doesn't know if he wanted to hand it off to Nelson or not he kept it so we're going to start over at about the 46 yd line this time no laundry no laundry on the field finally so I wonder if number one's
162more of a Precision kicker because as they just sent it deep that's when the left footer came out5 y Eagles are going to take over 45 yd line 1145 on the game clock now coming off the field with the balls again smiling as always two tight ends sniffer back right running back right handoff up the middle good for a yard or two looked like that was Hicks on the carry maybe a half a yard not much carrier keep the clock ticking on the play takes the ACR 45 46 second down and boy we've lost the field here injured tornado player on the field official timeout for an injured tornado really like this field out here purple and gold I like the numbers how they got a little offset Shadow on them on the field nice
163Press Box up there I love the Press boxes that have the uh Upper Deck Upper Deck up there yeah scoreboards beautiful with a little video board on top of it got Play Clocks on each inzone see Sonic from here I want some tater tots oh yeah it is over there some more scores are coming in here from Zach looks like it's just going to be a cramp for the injured player out there Nashville leads wesland 42-0 Triad leads Alton 36117 kokia beats Granite City barn burner 76 to nothing dang even got some fans to turn around at that score there I think there was a college game last night most points scored in an FBS game since like 19 80 something they scored 80 it was 87 to 10 final score think it was South
164Alabama and somebody so second n 1129 Eagles made a pretty good showing up here for the long drive fans are sticking around they've been rewarded been a good game all the way around as resumes we can get a little bit of a flow here going after a couple penalties on that kickoff and then injured clock should be started it was a run play it's still not starting shouldn't the clock start yeah oh boy motion man Nelson quarterback keeper up the middle lowers the boom near a first down I think they're going to give it to him Mason vaguely oh throw it throw it come on gain of nine are they going to give him enough for a first down they should they will first and 10 Eagles good run Mason vagle you know how bad
165I would have flopped right there to get 15 oh man sometimes you got to man take one for the team I forgot you're a LeBron fan that oh syy other go man all right on the football tight end left look like a heavy Back Field here Nelson fake it Hicks left side up the middle now good for three not a bad little run good job there by Taylorville making the adjustment on that play had some success on it earlier got to let that play clock go now 10:35 30 seconds on the play clock start slowing it down a little bit but got to keep the foot on the gas pedal 1025 five clock still ticking I mean I would take the play clock down to under 10 every every play right now if I'm the
166Eagles maybe under seven or six seconds looks like coach Warner slowing it down I guess you know high school kids are still going to be ramped up and ready to go so good job by him slowing it down I like this come on going to be a pass through the hands of Logan Hickson you don't say that very often now clock stops 10 minutes boy you don't say that very often with Logan now you got third [Music] down see what coach Horner wants to do here try to get into a manageable fourth down or if not if you want to try to pin him deep inside the 10 I think coach herner is going to keep his offense on the field no matter what here I don't think so I'm going to keep this ball
167on the ground and I'm going to pin him see what he wants to do if he picks up four to five yards here it's going to be a keep Again by vagle he's going to get near a first down you think about how you think about it fourth and maybe two the carrier could also burn a timeout here if you're coach horer to guarantee you get a first down but I think I want that clock to keep running and you run your bread and butter send Jason in motion I'm going hard count you can always call a timeout if you don't like what you see tick twoo Mason still got 20 on the play clock snap it early now you can yep so now he's going to think about it probably call timeout here once
168that play clock winds down yep all right fourth and one 917 Eagles lead this week three matchup of the two one andone teams 28-27 I believe that's our first time out of the half now do you go that little offset janic running back quarterback thing what do you even call that I guess it's just like a wild cat set but I think you go to what we saw earlier with that little jumbo heavy set you can always go QB sneak which we haven't seen a lot for Mason in this year but it's a long two that you got to get so we'll see what coach Herer wants to draw up here big play coming on fourth down 917 left Eagles up by one point 2827 got a big fourth down we'll see what Taylorville wants
169to do too if they want to put a couple more guys on the line of scrimmage ging reports that it is absolutely pouring at home right now so thankful that we're up here unfortunate though for songs for soldiers show rocks on though right usually I would guess yeah as long as there's no lightning I would think it does oh we came to the ball quick Alex we are in that wild cat Jan going to keep it to the right side great Push by The Eagles offensive line and the three running backs that are blockers good play Eagles Janik almost didn't he was like oh my gosh that hole is huge I don't know where I want to go with this one great play Columbia Eagles i' keep the same formation fans are wanting it [Music]
170too looks like we are yeah with those three lead blockers up there and Keegan Thompson Logan Hicks and jce Nelson I wouldn't want to mess with that I mean you're taking your two linebacker your linebacker and your defensive back on the right side they're out of the play another good blocking scheme by The Eagles good run by cam Janet pushing the pile now out of the offensive line gain of eight I think if you're picking up yardage like that coach Horner is going to keep keep running that there second and two and if they're not going to make an adjustment like I said you look at number 15 over there 23 they're not yeah they're not even now you've got it yeah 11 on nine now gron number 23 is going to have to stay
171home there's nobody over there back Lanes there too look at that good Vision there cam janic offensive line showing up right here on this drive unders eight minutes now in the fourth quarter Eagles have had the ball for four minutes now Mason's gonna come back in for cam great job three plays there by cam Janet pick up the first down and then two plays to pick up another first down for the Eagles now vaguely they're going to keep the same formation vaguely is just in the game now I called it with 13 seconds to go in the play clock that's all right lower the boom on him baby I can't wait for the day that we line up like this and one of those running backs come out of the back field everyone's looking the
172right side running back goes left 23 still not in the play they need to sh they need to shift him over cuz in the middle of the field all you have is 14 and five is somewhat in the middle of the field right and you look at how far back the Corner's playing here number three yeah at the goal line they don't want to shift out of it keep it going vaguely the quarterback three running backs will be his lead blockers they're going to go to the outside five yd line slips again I think they're going to probably call it chop block if I had to guess it's usually where that area goes look like Hudson on that left side he's the tight end he went low for a little bit of a chop block
173we'll see what they say yeah chop block and I'm sure that's on Hudson Chop block I think we had one of those last week as well called on the Eagles so that happens when a defensive lineman is already engaged up top and somebody hits him low looks like Janet comes back in for vagley we had a good drive going there clock should still start now that it's amazing that last time whenever there was a penalty they didn't start it when they were on offense now it's started timeout Taylorville about time they're going to try to make an adjustment so second and 12 from the 13 Eagles offense looking good right now now you got to start thinking about too what kind of leg does Keegan have in your accuracy and everything a field goal is
174huge I don't know second and 13 I mean you can go back to it if they don't make an adjustment because like you said those two guys are not even in the play it's 11 on nine middle of the Field's been open a lot tonight do you try going to play action to the middle kind of like on what Hudson scored last week I don't know if you want to play action on second and long I mean you could but then you risk of getting sacked and it's third and very long do you think they're going to bring pressure on second long or do you think they hold off till third we'll see what kind of formation we're in here if we're in that Wildcat again we need to get somebody else in the middle
175of the field but we'll see what coach Horner wants looks like Mason's kind of out of the Huddle Cam's in the middle of it so most likely going to be in that Wildcat formation once again on second and 13 until they make an adjustment on that other side see what the Eagles got coach hner still coaching after the boys break the huddle second 13 ball on the 18 637 like we're putting Jace back there now that Wildcat guy going to shift to the left love it now they're all messed up on that defensive side going to play to the left jcece to the left side Jace behind the big blockers he's going to be good for about seven if he would have stuck his foot in the ground and gone to the outside I don't
176think anybody was out there they got about third and eight oh man Mason going to stay on the sideline here most likely stay in the same formation we'll see if we have another option out of this but we really haven't really needed it big play here on third down third and nine going to run it to the right side Jay lowers the boom gets it maybe a yard boy there there's been a lot of guys slipping down here at this side of the field keep your offense on the field here yeah I think you do then you got to make them go 90 yards try to score a [Music] touchdown Mason checks back in gonna go little spread formation with Cam Janik as the upback Jace to the left Hicks and Thompson to the right
177as receivers oh boy satue Liberty to the left side it's got Hicks loss of three turnover on Downs Eagles and I don't know if I'm a big fan of that play call there trying to get a little bit too pretty I think you run your bread and butter and just try to get as many yards as you can up the middle what's been working for you all night eag come up good job by Taylorville staying home first and I don't know what the blocking really looked like there oh baby onepoint lead 514 Taylorville has got to go 87 yards if they want to take the lead of course they can take the lead with a field goal make it a two-point lead touchdown Columbia still in it great game here this is where Jared starts
178getting nervous yep my hands are sweating a little bit two tight ends sniffer back pistol back fake the hand off quarterbacks can keep it nothing going on who's that in the backfield for the Eagles right away that looks like musk up number 52 Carson musk up that time gain of two y second down that clock is ticking we need it to tick tick tick try to try to force a couple third Downs here don't let anybody behind you if you're a corner or safety you just heard samel watch the screen trips to the left side running back left roll out left got a deep ball down here with hicks's Garden number one under again nothing going on no penalties good job there by Logan Hicks you see that change of speed when read the wide
179receiver's eyes he's like oh crap got to get back great job there by Logan no one where the ball's at no one where his receivers at no contact great job not getting any pass interference there now you got third and eight 430 left clock does stop on an incomplete pass I mean if you're Taylorville here you got to punt the ball if you don't get it here that a lot of time you can't call it timeout here either those are going to be needed in the end so you got to have your play call that you want here pass I'm calling it I'm going quarterback up the middle they' just spread everybody out trips to the left side doubles right quarterback looking to that hook to curl quter keep nothing going brought down fumble on
180the play I think it's recovered by The Eagles no we get it we got it they called him down called him down called him down the official over on our sideline calls him down number 73 for the Eagles Lincoln Corbin number 75 Dane quivo both in there called him down on the field biggest play of the game so far here come on D Cooper showing Blitz come on give me a false start or something doubles running back to the right hoop showing Blitz he's coming off the edge it's picked up incomplete turn over on Downs Columbia eagle gets the football see I don't like that I don't like that if you're Taylorville cuz now Columbia can take as much time as they want inside the 25 yd line you got to punt that ball as
181crazy as everything's going you got and you got to trust your defense sometimes you just got to you got to trust your defense and hope they can get a stop hope they can get a turnover but the way things have been going I mean I guess they thought Columbia's been driving on us all night with the run so great stop by the defense there and we've kind of made adjustments on that snag route since the last one they caught for about 40 yards and starting this wild cat once again cams running to the right side good wall the blocker spin move hold on to that football py inside the 10 ydd line first and goal for the Eagles maybe close second and a half he needs to be holding that ball with both arms running
182through that middle you never know when somebody could come punch it out 315 and and running if you're coach Warner you love this right now up a up one point and you're definitely telling cam not to call for the ball until it's under five seconds on the play clock how aggressive do you get on a touchdown do you go for two put it away nope oh I'm putting it away I think you don't I think you don't want to score too early I think you try to you got to get a yard and you got get a yard and fall down and make start making them call timeouts and try to try to waste that clock a little bit so then if we do score they have no timeouts on the offensive side of things
183so I think you try to get go QB sneak and then you for you force them to start calling timeouts because then you'll have first and goal from about the nine yd line thanks once again to all of our sponsors making this happen thank you to the listeners for listening letting us know where you're listening from been a good night here up in Taylorville Lisa Oglesby at Edward Jones bought Chick-fil-A for the boys and it seems like it's working right now 253 left big second and inches we'll call it also thank you to Freshly pressed we didn't mened them last week with everything going on we were still trying to figure out sound and everything was going crazy for us freshly pressed of all the work they've done in the last two weeks and everything
184that they do they're doing flags for guys yard signs for not only football every Sports so freshly pressed look them up on Facebook and get all your customized Eagles gear there so Jared's saying they're going to go down after a yard first and goal I think you should try to get a first first down here causes them to start calling a couple timeouts then that clock will just tick for four downs Janet going to be the quarterback going to run to the right side he's got a wall of everybody in front of him he goes down at the three yd line Jared you're a genius I just watch too much football cuz Todd Gurley did that on the Falcons one year and it screwed him scored too early they went down scored went for two
185and they lost the game now do you just take a knee no I think you still run the ball just wait wait till that play Clocks I mean I don't know because if you man it's a tough tough dilemma that Taylorville is in right now not calling timeout just letting that clock tick but what else you going to do if you have to get the ball back down one score quarterback to the right side Janet goes down again he was giving himself up yeah that was a little sketchy there Timeout on the field Taylorville yeah that's tough it looked like Janik was giving himself up a little bit on that play which that is I mean as a linebacker or a guy on defense that is tough you're at you're inside the two yard line
186and you never think a guy's going to give himself up on the two yard line but at the state of things right now with two 11 left timeout going to be second and we'll say one and a half yard line in kokia conference play tonight Roxana beats Civic Memorial 5112 Chester beats freeberg 3114 I do think this is neat in just two weeks time the learning curve that's already happened you look at how many guys are out there right now I remember in modern day coach Horner wanted something out of a timeout had to call it another time out because not all the offensive guys are out there yep now you see every guys that's involved on offense cuz you never know if somebody gets hurt and you're next up got to go in there
187if you're not used to playing certain position that you're normally playing so second and one Janet comes off vaguely is going on yeah with Furlow out we got a new center in the game probably haven't practiced going under Center very often look like it is Lincoln Corbin that's going to snap it to Mason vagley see if we can get a QB sneak here Mason under Center what'd he do right there look like he almost he took a knee short make him call another timeout that's okay with me clock is still ticking couldn't tell if he was couldn't tell if he was trying to take a knee if he was trying to I love that though now they're out of timeouts yeah and you got 2011 then you you punch one in here you're going to
188force them to go it's only third down I still I'm taking so they're out of timeouts correct I think they have one I think they've only burned two here oh I think they burned it on first and second down now now they're out they took one earlier in the half down here to left right so now they're out I'm going to take a knee we're at 2011 on the game clock right now call our timeout and talk about it after you take a knee or you you look it I hope Sharky's getting a picture of that right now I don't think that can get any closer to the goal line without going in shy and hoe are right down there and it looks like he's taking a picture of it Mason's out of the game
189here so looks like we're going to be back maybe I mean I would keep Mason in the game and just take a take a knee let the play clock go down to about 120 and let's just say that you don't convert on the yeah they got to go 99 yards to win the game with no timeouts so great great job here by the coaching staff in my opinion on this last drive to make them burn their timeouts now you have a chance to score here see what happens Mason back out there again same formation under Center they're trying to draw us a false start doesn't happen Eagles are going to get into the end zone Mason vley touchdown columia [Applause] still a huge play right here to make it an eight-point game I don't know
190I'm almost more scared of them going for two the way they've been kicking tonight great ending drive there by the Eagles to make it seven-point lead hopefully an eight-point lead after this Keegan Thompson Pat Mason calling for it good snap good hold kick up and boom right down Broadway two-minute warning here in Taylorville Eagles lead it by eight 3527 we're going to stay with you here big two minutes here two minute warning all starts with the kick and got to pin them deep [Music] this is where the parents now whenever my favorite phrase in all of football when we kick it off everyone's going to just start screaming get him what do you think they're trying to do oh that drives me nuts get him block that guy 35 push-ups it's that time for the
191Eagles cheerleaders and they got them all done did you do that right now absolutely not I don't think I could either no chance could you run a mile right now do I have to have a specific time under 10 I probably could yeah be hurting I could get it done all right here we go Eagles let's go two minutes eight-point lead Keegan in to do the kicking not really sure what happens I think that was just a bad kick kick I don't know what just happened there but that just changes a lot of things right there yeah it does not sure I don't I think that would I it looked like he tried to do that too did he try to Pooch it 10 yards 20 yards farther all right Eagles D here we go
192oh that just changed a lot still no timeouts two minutes to go Eagles lead it by eight Taylorville is going to have great position starting at the 45 if you ever needed a stop this is the one you need trips to the right side doubles left you got to keep them in bounds if you're the Eagles defense Eagles timeout coach Germaine not happy excuse me timeout no timeouts left in this ball game Coach G goes directly to the Back Field defensive backfield number 18 Cameron steals out there so is that like your Nickelback coverage most likely yeah looks like 11 pool is out of the game now so probably got your nickel package in and his job is do not let anyone behind run past you that is your job so now that's the Eagles
193final timeout oh man I don't know why didn't we kick it deep coach Warner is going to rub top of his head ra right now oh I just have a sick feeling it's going to end on a hail Mar play in the endzone let's not hope for that trips right doubles to the left Bunch empty back field quarterback going to be a screen pass and it's going to be a good wall of blockers Cooper's going to try to make a tackle it's going to be brought down by Logan H that ball defense be ready second and six we've done a good job adjusting to that screen pass minute 45 up to the ball right away trips to the right side running back right going to be a roll out to the right side 15's looking
194deep he's going to sling it deep he's got a man wide open and it's going to go incomplete way out of bounds intended for number four got behind Jace and you look at coach Herer and Coach Germaine they're both yelling at steel to get back there like you said you have one job if you're that Nickelback player that's nobody back there third and six good job by the defense so far quivo comes off casing muscot back in so see if we can get muscot or I like the MUSC brings off the edge Lin Corbin with the power he's been in the back field a couple times empty sides he might be off sides he's very close to off sides BL don't call it okay good going to throw to the little slant once again Little
195Hook to curl area going to be brought down this time by the Eagles at the 34 and it's that hook to curl that's beat us all night I think their guy even almost lined up off sides ball at the 35 yd line minute 23 need one stop doubles running back to the left ball in the right hash going to be a play action quarterback's looking deep he's going to have to throw it that's intent is there anybody over there he was out of the he was out of The Tackle Box like barely how barely good pressure there I think that was musk up and somebody else Coach G pulling the big guys off putting the smaller faster guys in man that was close to being yeah I think he got outside a tackle box with
196those two guys rushing him cuz there was no receiver in that area but does stop the clock 108 Eagles still up eight points 3527 ball on the 34 yd line Second and 10 doubles running back to the left side quarterback going up the middle this time he's going to be hit by cam Janik brought down by m vaguely gain of three clock still ticking under a minute now Alex our side needs to get loud here coach Kendall Matt coach her they're getting everybody going come on defense trips right side doubles to the left quarterback he's looking for that hook to curl area that's wide open [Music] [Applause] again looks like he's going to be enough for the first down going to give it to him with 39 seconds left ball on the 23 clock is
197ticking quarterback under Center spike it spikes it right tackle moved a little early thank you call okay good gonna say he's the only one to move besides the quarterback flag on the so it's going to be a 5 yard penalty first down down and clock should start after they place the ball and tell them to run it right yeah because if it's a false start that play never happen so it should go to 25 seconds but yeah Kendall's doing this so it should start right whenever they tell him so I mean you're going to lose a second or two we'll take it tlor needs to be because they're going they should do the same thing it should be another strike looks like clock is not running I don't get that I do not understand it
198at all but that's all right quarterback's going to fake it he's looking to the end zone Nelson's over there ball goes incomplete 25 seconds remaining good job there not falling asleep on the double move Nelson in good Pursuit coach herner and Coach Kendall can barely take it down here on the sideline pacing themselves 25 seconds remaining second and 15 ball at to 28 woohoo Friday night this is awesome Alex this might be one of the best games we've had ever Colin I'm not even lying this has been fun second and 15 coach Kendall telling the crowd to get loud doubles running back left quarterback's looking deep he's looking to the end zone he's going to Loft it up and it's going to be intended and go incomplete fourth and 15 now third and 15 third
199and 15 third and 15 third and 15 for the Eagles defense thing with Taylorville here I mean I know you don't have timeouts but every shot you're taking is a vertical to the end zone I think you can you could have got a couple out routes maybe a couple Crossing routes try to get out of bounds a a few times but I think they're a little nervous of us protecting that sideline and forcing the clock to keep running 19 seconds remaining doubles running back to the right side get him K quarterback going to step up into the pocket oh no he's got a floater man out of the running back back dropped it and he dropped it oh you don't have to be good if you're lucky boys coach Horner can't even look you don't
200have to be good if you're lucky we'll take those drop we're out of timeouts he's going down to Coach G and want to call a timeout but he can't we don't have any Cas was there in that back field comes down to this folks 13 seconds fourth down and 15 here we go for the eagles they need to make one more stop scoot back B scoot back 13 seconds ball at the Eagles 27 quarterback steps up he's looking to the end zone he's got somebody in the middle of the end zone it's going to be intended for number four give me that pick interception I believe that's jce nson give me that ball game pick it off in the end zone ball game Eagles wow I got chills what a game we got lucky on
201that running back drop in that ball [Music] Alex 4 seconds remaining Eagles can knee this one out you don't have to be good if you're lucky wow what a finish here in Taylorville Hees job Victory formation bigle going under Center just don't fumble the snap hand off knee ball game Eagles win it 3527 [Applause] what a game under the Eagles offensively and defensively to get it done great game all the way around here in Taylorville getting a little nervous there my heart was starting to beat a little bit but great job by the Eagles defense stand up strong great job by the secondary not letting anyone get behind him besides that running back dropping that pass on that sideline and it would have came down to a two-point conversion and doesn't have to come down
202to that anymore as the Eagles Walk Away 3527 here in Taylorville as we head into conference play like you said this is a big win for the Eagles this week hey I told you on the way up here I love our be defensive backs this year I told you at the beginning of the broadcast and they came through just like we expected them to as the Eagles win this one once again like you said a lot of momentum now going into the conference play and two home games in a row so two and one now get you can beat roxan and freeberg at home move to four- one you're looking like you're in pretty good shape so these next week or two we need to we need to really be ready and realize what's ahead
203of us I mean we're two and one we we won two games all of last season so got a lot of these kids should should feel pretty good about themselves into a hostile environment like this an hour 45 minute road trip um half half day of school all that stuff that happened last week um tough week for the community but great job the rally around um o line played great tonight both sides of the ball offensive line and defensive line um it's all around great game Mason probably played I think the game of his life um in especially in that first half through three or four great great balls um to Hicks and a couple um to jayon Nelson but overall a great job by the Eagles yeah I mean I don't know what else
204you got to say after that it's a good ball game and uh was fun excited to go home with the victory boy coach Warner there you watch him in the postgame talk very animated like always and uh they're already screaming and yelling so going to be a fun bus ride home next week like you said going to be blue jay Knight against roxan uh going to be going live on kchs once again at 6:30 and uh man what do you I what else do you have to say about tonight I don't know I kind of want to keep talking I wish it would have kept going that was probably my favorite broadcast uh that we've ever done but yeah heck of a game by the Eagles like you said coaching that came down here to
205the final touchdown that drive was like five minutes Alex that was a very good drive very well coached and it was very well executed out of the players too I I 100% agree great job by coach horer and Coach Jermain and all the coaches on that sideline um and like you said by the players to execute it um it's not easy uh whenever you see a if you want to score a touch down right in front of you but great job by cam Janet to get down a couple times Mason took a knee at the two in line two in yeah at the two inch line I mean some guys can be selfish and want to score a touchdown and just just to hear their name called but great job by the offense cam janick
206great job closing the game out um and then Mason bagely punching in at the end to give us the eight-point advantage and at the end the win all right well we're going to be wrapping it up here on kchs Eagles improved to two and one after the thrilling Victory here tonight 3527 thanks once again for listening thank you to Alicia Oglesby for the chick-fil from Edward Jones thanks for the sponsorships thanks for TJ making the computers work we made it all work here tonight Josh wasn't here yeah we made it work from Taylorville Eagles Victorious 3527 we'll see you next week and uh go Eagles baby go Eagles baby a
