001[Music] 1911 the University of Missouri Athletic Director asked for his alumni to come home and since then homecoming has been a thing go back 112 years now then ask an alumni to come back cheer on the football team enjoy homecoming week and have a festival and a party just like any other and that's what we have here tonight it's homecoming week here in Columbia where the Eagles coming in on five taking on the 0-5 East Alton Wood River Oilers so somebody they're gonna go home with the victory tonight Columbia took on Hollywood with the theme this year they had their Spirit Week seniors took home the spirit stick then all the parade the floats everything went on tonight's football game is going to be the beginning of the last chapter and homecoming week we'll come

002to an end tomorrow night with the dance at Columbia High School Alex Schlemmer and Jared Jermaine with you once again coming to you live on kchs into the aces wild pregame show thanks for joining us and tonight Jared we come in like I said somebody's going to leave here with the victory tonight yeah both coming in I win five we both know both teams really haven't had a good start to the season I'm already halfway through and both teams don't have a w yet so like I said earlier somebody's going to come out with a win tonight and I would like for it to be the Eagles of course and as we were trying to ruin freeburg's uh last week their homecoming hopefully they don't come in here and do that to us something I

003didn't realize roxanna's homecoming they left Victorious freeburg's homecoming they left Victorious so Fate's got to be on our side right I mean I hope so yeah it can only be on our side hopefully let's talk a little bit about last week's game and uh with Freeburg new is going to be a tough one but you know what 2814 was the final score and I thought we were into the game majority of the time even though stat sheet may not say it yeah I mean it was 7-7 and that after after the first quarter and I mean we we were playing pretty well up front we were kind of getting beat they were running the ball all over all over they won't and pretty much anytime they wanted that Stewart kid was getting six seven yards

004a carry so um hopefully coming in tonight I know last year he saw when River ran almost for 300 yards on 50 plus carries I think last year and me and you were there and it was not a pretty game that's probably my least favorite game to watch last year but hopefully tonight we can come in and shake it up a little bit last week like you said it's 28-14 was the final score the first touchdown Friedberg scored though was on a uh Peyton Andrews slipped and fell so there's seven points that could have been avoided and then you look at the next uh the touchdown thing is in the third quarter it was a blown coverage I think a guy just kind of moved out from the pocket or from the backfield motion man

005and just kind of got lost and that was 14 points right there but Eagles were able to get on the board put on 14 points and that matches our season all right so 28 points in the five games that we have but you know like I said it's a two score game that's a pick six away a scoop and score an onside quick kick that we've already recovered so you know you're right there in all the games and besides Roxanna we're too touchdown game every game yeah that's what you're talking about before we even went live how we've been in pretty much every game I think you guys even set it on your uh on your pre-game show earlier this week with the coaches um but yeah they've been in every single game it's just

006we haven't been those first three four weeks we couldn't really score the ball and last week we got to see two touchdowns but I know we came away with the loss but coach Warner um doing good get the ball out to the athletes a little bit more last couple weeks which is uh what I would have liked on the offensive side of the ball 22 yards of rushing for us last week I think we did have one bad snap I think it was like a second and one all set in the third and turned into a third and 19. so hopefully we get the snaps figured out this week and then but uh passing wise 165 yards for Mason last week so like you said you're getting in your athletes hands uh Lucas ribling was

007able to get a touchdown and I've lived got our second touchdown last week so two new guys to get touchdowns and two guys that deserve to get them so hopefully we can add to it tonight you know I feel like we start passing the ball like later in the game like uh that Danny had a great catch um at the end of almost towards the end of the game we were going on our last Drive um but I feel like we need to come out with start right away so um get that offense going um come out and put some points on the board early and this is a team that we can do it so let's talk a little bit about this week now the Oilers coming in and we're about 10 15 minutes

008away from game time right now Oilers coming in don't score a lot give up a lot of points are coming off a 49-0 loss against Bree Central last week so a team that we have the ability to score on and hopefully tonight we're able to get that done yeah and like I said uh they ran the ball for 300 yards last year and I know two two of their stud running backs or they graduated so uh we don't have them tonight thank God but hopefully uh we'll see we'll see a good game tonight I mean I know both teams are 0-5 but I mean somebody's got to come out with a win so hopefully there's no ties yeah Eagles are coming in tonight owning an 8-2 record against the oiler so got the got the

009win percentage on our side we are coming off the loss from last year in a game that we talked about we didn't expect to go in there and lose that game and you know you never want to go in and expect to lose but yeah that was one of those when we're driving home afterwards it's like you know that's why you play the game though so I think it was a 22-13 loss it was close it was I think 14 nothing going into halftime 13-nothing something like that so just a night that got away from us and didn't get it done but coming in tonight now how are we going to be able to get the ball across the goal line I think you gotta just spread the ball out to your athletes athletes like

010we've done the last two weeks like I said a little bit earlier um guys like Denny uh riebling has looked really good for a first year football player um and then I think Jason Nelson is back in the lineup tonight which is a big plus who we didn't have last week so um I'd say we just get the ball out to the athletes and let them make plays I know Mason doesn't really have enough time um in the pocket so he's got to be running a lot but run run bubble bubble routes little screen routes and just get the ball out in open field we've talked about Jace Bilt him and that's one kid that we would like to call his name a little bit more from up here and he's one of those kids

011that if he gets it and he's got open space he can move so see if Jackson Jackson can get in there if you know and see what happens from there you'd like to see everybody get involved tonight but that's going to be one of my guys that I'm watching tonight look at the lineman position um some size coming from East Alton I don't know if they're going to be the quickest guys but some of those guys during warm-ups they uh they better not sit on you they'd Crush you yeah definitely me um but I feel like East Alton River always has those big guys and normally Columbia doesn't really play well against those bigger guys we usually have a little bit more speed on that defensive line um so hopefully we can put three or

014and Freeburg is hosting Roxanna so uh some pretty big games there and a lot riding on those games because that's a toss-up still yeah what was that last week Salem went in the roxam Roxanna almost upset them so hopefully uh free bird can keep that wind train going and knock Roxanna off and that's a big thing too you know like you said he about about got the the upset freeberg playing at home they're always a tough team to play at home oh yeah definitely so that conference match up there is one that's going to be exciting to watch Jared I'm sure he'll be on Twitter or X trying to find out where he can get those scores we would like to thank Joy's Hair Affair and Joe bacardi's for getting the pregame meal for not

017push-ups this season so to uh talk about them real quick they are coached by Robbie Walters and Marla Rose and Whitney Armington as well the cheerleaders include Cadence Johnson Ava remmer Reagan search Mia McConaughey Lucille Moore Cali oh man potassium dalen Stevens Lila Bridges Eden Peters and Sophia Waters so cheerleaders coming out doing a great thing and pretty much when you think of football you got to think of the cheerleaders being along with them so great job with them they always do good coach Walters up at the state tournament every year so hopefully this year we are able to see them go up to State once again how many titles oh man he's got more rings than Brady I bet yeah probably Eagles are going to come out tonight white helmets black jerseys and blue

020side gonna be with number two Hicks he's got to the original line of scrimmage blockers down the field he's got a first down 40 30. five house call in the first play of the game touchdown Eagles I don't think we've ran outside Zone very well this season especially last week Hicks I know running a lot of those outside zones last week and he would get in touch right when he right when he gets the ball so first play there wow what a way to start this game and instantly looking at the iPad over here on our sideline coach hams in a coach Horner standing next to each other so great start for the Eagles there try to cap it off here with the p-a-t Keegan Thompson to do the kicking once again he's 4-4 on

021this season low snap picked up kicked and it goes right down middle he moves to five to five and that'll take that Mandy McGuire group scoreboard just 15 seconds into the game Columbia seven East Alton Wood River zero and that'll be another hundred dollars donated from George Weber Chevrolet so that takes the total to 500 now coming from George Weber and those 42 push-ups that we talked about the cheerleaders now we got 49 so they wrapped them up pretty quick right there so Jared zone right there just quick and simple play getting into the end zone yeah and I like using your up back what we call sniffer back and then another running back being basically your two lead blockers and that's what we saw right there uh Logan Hicks did a great job of

022bringing it all the way to the the numbers and then putting his foot in the ground and out running about two or three Oilers to get into the end zone great start for us great job by ribbling also blocking downfield he was able to keep his Foreigner moving downfield and did good job blocking there so we'll see where Keegan is able to pin him now the two return men I believe are number five and number nine for East Alton standing about the 15 yard line Eagan sets it deep and it's going to be returned at about the nine yard line by the guy closest to us it's going to be number six he tries to get over to the sideline over where they are and he's gonna get two about the 20-yard line where he's

023brought down in this Columbia Eagles defense who's kept him in every game this year gonna try to dominate here tonight and we'll see what he's talking whatever wants to come out and do like I said last year I think they had what 55 56 rushing attempts something like that something crazy I think it was 56 for 289. see if I can pull that up real quick all right and last year they were just getting three four yards of carry 54 rushes 54 rushes 289 yards 5.35 yards of carry and they were one for one passing for 10 yards and that was a touchdown so assault and dominated last year this year it's the Eagles turn to dominate East Alton coming out showing you that size they don't have any weights and Heights listed but they're

024big number two is going to be the running back he's going to take the quick hand off just an ISO right up the middle good for about three yards before getting brought down by a few Eagles in the middle I believe LED with Brandon Jackson to make the attack gonna be second down and six from the 24. let's see coach Maine wants to bring a blitz here on second down make it third and long see if you can get in the backfield early three down lineman for the Eagles showing Blitz out of the top looks like that's going to be Keegan low snap picked up number two is going to get it again somebody got him in the backfield but he's going to be able to gain two third down and four I think that

092for all year is trying to see something like that happen we've had some big plays out of our wide receivers and um you know they're they're playing pretty well tonight so it's that's all we could ask for him to do and haven't got any unofficial stats but I would say hands down the most yards we've had in the game all together we did it in the first half so last week 22 yards rushing like we said cam had two rushes for 30 yards so it was a good good half all the way around in our alignment really opened up some holes there for all the running backs and quarterback yeah and even that defensive side of the ball he's Solomon Rivers had decent drives they've started every drive around the 10-yard line I'd say and

093they've got all the way to Midfield but then they just stalled out on fourth down I'd say four or five times already tonight so our defenses look pretty solid like I said but um I want to see us get to 40 and get this running clock going it would be nice to have a running clock something that we haven't seen even you know they've been close to with the bad lucks this year I mean for a couple years that's all we saw were running clocks there for a while so um you know it was a fun half the call we got two minutes yet and then they're gonna add another three minutes on to the clock uh for the stretching and everything so whenever it boils down to it you know you got five minutes
