009of applause for all of our seniors in tonight's ceremonies [Music] thank you foreign [Music] good evening ladies and gentlemen and welcome in to another exciting edition of kchs Columbia Eagle football in week nine some of these boys have played for a year some of them have played for 12. doesn't matter all these seniors come out for one last time at the multi-purpose field welcome into the aces wild pregame show Alex Slimmer and Jared Jermain coming at you and Jared week nine senior night what kind of memories what kind of thoughts are going through these kids heads tonight I can't believe it's week nine first of all already um but I mean whenever you get a the last game of the season regular season and it's at home that's always pretty nice um now when you
010have a week 10 coming up next week but you can't even worry about that right now you just got to go out on your senior night and play like it could be your last home game hopefully if the Eagles are able to get by tonight with a victory got a shot at getting a a playoff game at home we'll talk about that here in a little bit on the aces wild pregame show but for now Jared you look at what you got you've like you said you've been playing so many guys 12 years so many guys for a year this is what you're coming this is what you're playing for and uh really took care of business last week in a dominant way I guess you would say by one down player and they were
011able to get the 28-27 victory over the central cougars and got themselves a share of the kokia conference and in turn are the conference representatives in the ihsa playoffs so that win last week let's talk a little bit about that yeah I mean overall that first half uh it was it was a really fun game to watch I mean it was 14 14 and a half um Don vegely had two really uh long rushing touchdowns there in the in the first half but he he kind of he kind of put the team on his back the whole game I think he ended up with 385 rushing yards probably the most by a quarterback we've ever seen only threw the ball twice so you don't really see that much from a quarterback but whenever he was
012he was feeling it last week on his legs so you can't really fault him there crazy like you said 385 yards on 23 attempts averaged 16 yards per carry started off with a bang first play from scrimmage 60-yard touchdown run we give up a touchdown our second play from scrimmage bang 82-yard touchdown run and I think we gave up another one in the first quarter second quarter Dom gets the ball 63-yard touchdown run just making those big plays and tonight we come into a Jerseyville team we are talking to their media department they said they give up a lot of big plays so be nice to see and keep our eyes out open for that but one other thing we talked your quarterback in a spread offense two passes last week for Don vigley yeah
013I don't think we've ever seen that under a coach Horner offense to be honest with you but um I mean whenever whenever it's working on the on the ground game I mean don't you have no reason to really go away from it like I said he was feeling it last week the o-line played really well just gave him those a couple lanes that he needed and he was just an athlete from there whenever we talked to Coach G and Coach Warner they have a lot of respect for coach Brian short in central roll those guys always pick each other's brains and they knew coming in our coaches knew Shorty's going to be watching film we got to throw a wrinkle and Coach Warner said after the first touchdown somebody got in the headset and goes
014look over at Shorty he's on the iPad and he goes all of a sudden we scored that second touchdown he goes look over Charlie he's on the iPad so it's neat whenever we get a game like that and those guys he even said he goes coach Brian short he makes us better because of what he does so it's a little bit of rivalry between the two coaches or the three coaches I guess you'd say and after the game they all hugged it out at the end of the game so pretty neat that the Eagles were able to come home with a victory and they got that conference share with Central and we got a little bit of help Roxanna lost two uh I'm sorry Roxanna beat East Salt Water River so it kept a three-way
015tie from happening and who knows I mean we could we could meet up with East saltwood River or Central uh next week in the playoffs debating on this game so I mean going into tonight you wanna you wanna win this one they go seven and two and most likely get a home playoff game and you can maybe host a one of your conference foes that you play against during the regular season we talked a little bit last week with Coach Jermaine and got a shot at playing an East Alton Wood River team that would be a lot of fun to get a rematch with there I didn't think we played Too Well in that game so I think that would be a lot of fun if we were able to get them but pre-central could
016come back up here or we could go to brief Central waterloo's in the mix and team with Mount Zion which is up by Decatur they're in the mix so there's a lot going on tonight and uh tomorrow that we're going to have to kind of let it play out and go by what the ihsa says in that 4A bracket and that'll be discussed tomorrow night on the ihsa website and on the nfhs if you want to watch it on TV go to channel 24.5 you'll be able to watch the pairing show starts at seven o'clock and they will go over the entire season there's a guy I think his last name Susie he is like the the god of ihsa football in the pairing show so he'll go over the entire season they'll start 18-8a

024of like the top five scores in in the Illinois area playing tonight Don vegely and uh number 11 that they have Chase Withrow we're really gonna have to watch out for number 11 tonight um I Heard coach stump and Coach Jermaine they said they kind of use him like a Cooper cup Debo Samuel type guy you can put them anywhere on the field and he's gonna he's gonna succeed so we'll have to definitely watch out for number 11 catching the ball of the backfield and running the ball and that's you know dual threat coach G's had a couple of those this year so he's got his work cut out for him on the other side of the ball whenever their their quarterback what do they have throwing the football are they going to run more
025throw more is that their main guy what else do you have on their team well their running back has 167 carries for almost 1300 yards and 18 touchdowns he's averaging almost eight yards of carry so I bet they're going to run the ball first uh that most definitely get the ball in his hands and see what he can do uh he'll probably be the best athlete we see or play all year so we'll definitely have to just keep an eye on number 11 make sure we know where he's at and just play assignment football the Eagles coming into it obviously they're led by quarterback senior Don vigley 16 touchdowns he also has 16 Pats so that's pretty neat 122 points all together and like you said that's tied they are number six and seven or

I um I want to see our defense do a little bit more uh try to put some points up on the board I don't think we've had a defensive touchdown yet all year um and anytime you can get that going early have a pick six or a scoop and score you can get your fans into it um so I want to see some big play from the linemen up front and the linebackers tonight make some big hits and just know where number 11's at and that's really all you gotta worry about they have he has like

040watch out for number 11. um I use them pretty much everywhere all over the field mostly running back so linebackers and corners and safeties have to keep an eye on him tonight and he's going to line up at running back as quarterback goes under Center he's going to get the snap he's going to hand it off to 11. looks like one of the Eagles is there looks like cam janick was first one there about a loss of two on the play and he was the middle linebacker lined up there and he saw a seam and took it loss of two good good start great start so Jersey gonna have everybody in the Box gonna have two tight ends set two running backs back there it's gonna be a Pitch to the outside Eagles force it
041back in tries to cut back gets past the original line of scrimmage a lot going on on that play to only gain three yards and we've heard it all year anytime you can get a stop on first or second down and bring them into that third and long that's always good for your Defense Force them into something they're not really used to um their quarterback this year has thrown 111 times and completed 67 of them gonna be a run to the pass I'm sorry they got me on the play action along with the rest of the eagles they got a first down as they come across the field I think that was just a tight end on that side snuck its way over here and it's going to be good for about 15 yards 20
042yards actually look like number for first down number 12 Tanner Bruno there he's got the the most catches on this team this year 16 catches for 182 yards only one touchdown but averaging 11 yards per catch and that's what this offense I'll do they'll loyal to sleep with run run and then you get a first down you gotta stay awake same formation once again they're gonna run right up the middle on a hard run running back really lower to shoulder at the end Eagles are able to pull him backwards boy whenever he hit the hole he just lunge forward and really stuck it in the hole their quarterback on here uh rushing statistics he has 74 carries for negative 54 yards a couple sacks that they uh counted as some runs so this time looks
043like we're gonna go shotgun doubles to the right side two running backs with the quarterback High snap gonna be brought down it's an option they throw it out there great job by Brendan wike making the tackle gonna be a loss of two good job Mike playing as that outside linebacker most of the time and he sniffed that one out pretty quick able to get a good grasp on him and bring him down for another third and about eight you can hear Coach G saying watch the football right now doubles to the left side doubles all the way around one running back to the left Quick Pass to the right side just a slant gonna be caught keeps his feet moving another 10 yards first down Jerseyville that was just a quick slant got it in
