009of good new things going on and you hope that you end your career on a high note here at columbia alex plummer and jared germain here with you once again for this week's sixth matchup no yes week five match up rather jared how you doing tonight good alex how are you not too bad new kind of night tonight do you remember what your senior night was like who you played oh man you're taking me back man i don't i don't really remember who we played but i do remember my senior night um i know we won i think it was against carlisle if i had to recall because i think our senior night in homecoming was on the same night so um i don't know why we had to do that but i think we
010played carlisle and we won pretty big so that's always a plus we had senior night on our homecoming night as well we played bree central uh lost 27-21 still sticks with me on that that was conference championship senior night homecoming night and come up on the short end of the stick i ended up getting hurt that night wasn't it wouldn't wouldn't it go to the dance the next day oh no of course i went to the dance don't worry about that i don't don't mean i did anything but i was there nothing else coming off a big week last week week four we played the freeberg midgets and what we anticipated to be a big matchup thought it was going to be really close and columbia came out we did what we needed to do
011we took care of business got the 44 to 21 had 288 total yards of offense four rushing touchdowns two passing touchdowns and three sacks this freeberg offense we thought they were going to put up a ton of points they didn't we did yeah our offense came out ready to play mcconaughey had a big game last week he had about 13 14 carries for around 70 yards so he had two touchdowns to go along with that and had a receiving touchdown so he had a pretty pretty big week for himself we should we should see london little and uh mcconaughey getting some more reps this week there we saw maulding with a big touchdown catch i think that was the second of um this season so far for him so big seniors are making big plays
012this year so that's really good to see for the eagles that's one thing last week you know like as we were saying we weren't sure what to expect we thought freeberg was going to come in dominate the offensive side of the ball coach germaine said no thanks i'll uh i'll figure out what you guys are going to do and i'll take care of business on his end of the deal he only gave up i think 144 yards rushing freeberg had and 92 yards passing so we kept calling lucas stone's name but you know he didn't really get anything out of it and the eagles were able to take care of business and get the big w and with that gets at least a share of the conference title um if you look back at it
013now central or i'm sorry freeberg plays salem tonight if salem wins that means we would be at least tied with central but then week six freeberg and central play and if freeburg beat central then that means we would be conference champs all together currently columbia's sitting at three and one we're done with conference central like i said they will play freeberg next week freiburg's only played the one game and so that would be coach horner's 12th conference title i believe and i think the 15th overall for the school or 17th overall for the school so columbia doing some good work in the cahokia conference and it's going to be hard for me to root for freeberg next week but i might have to do it just a little bit i don't think it's hard yeah
014any columbia fan it's hard to root for freebie and nobody wants a tie if you want if you're going to win conference you want to win conference outright yeah exactly so now this week we come on we play the east alton wood river oilers coming out of the prairie state conference this year currently sitting at 0-4 they've lost to nokomis freeburg central and alton marquette they're averaging nine points per game and 36 points given up a game don't have too much on them now we looked up for all the stats and that don't know too much what do you know about watching film this week well coming in i talked to coach germain earlier today and he said number 30 who was the running back he will not be playing tonight we saw him walking
015out on the field he didn't have any pads no helmet so from there their starting running back is not going to be going um we do know that they like to run outside zone so we're going to see a lot of a lot of runs that we the same same type of plays that we run along with the bubble routes with saying we run so same stuff that that coach horner plays coach warner and the eagles are six and one all time versus the oilers from east dalton one in 12 13 14 and 15. that's who we opened up the season with the loan loss comes in 2004 whenever the eagles were defeated 13 to nothing when east alton ended up going undefeated that season they have only allowed 13 points per game in those
016four home games against the oilers while scoring 160 not too bad to only give up four points and quick math you're winning that game 40 to four and usually those were our first game of the year over the first couple years so that was whenever columbia is uh just starting off to start the season so offense wasn't really you don't know what to expect for your offense so putting up points like that that's that's pretty nice see another big thing 2014 a couple weeks ago whenever howie was giving us some stats i wanted to ask him who was the biggest margin of victory we got our answer this week 2014 the 62-0 victory versus eating all east alton was the second largest margin of victory second to only 1980 going way back 63 to nothing
017over madison so pretty neat stat that howie has kept for us and coach horner's squads have shut out the east salton wood river oilers majority of the time so that's a it's pretty pretty good things to say don't know much about east alton but we're gonna have to figure it out east alton's coming from the prairie state conference next year and will be joining the cahokia conference the kokia conference is now instead of being the kaskaskia and the mississippi division will now be a three-tiered conference with large medium and small large we're still going to have central columbia freeburg east alton and roxanna will move in salem will be the the last one they joined a couple years ago then it kind of gets a little messed up in the middle of the medium division
018chester carlisle oakville redbud sparta westland i don't believe oakville has football so i think dupo is going to come up into that they're in the small division and then after that it's kind of the football plays with the middle schools and the small schools play basketball so new new look to the cocaine conference next year i kind of like the layout of it i mean you got freeberg and central who we're gonna get to see um each each year from from now on so i mean looking forward to freebergen central which every every football player has that game circled on their schedule so that's something that a lot of players will look forward to in the next coming years and the big thing you still get to keep your week one match up is typically
019a bigger school typically with uh muscuda and then next year will be waterloo in week two as well so that's cool that we get to keep that rivalry we went down tonight we talked to coach horner before the game and he had this to say about what to expect this week what was last week and his message to the seniors on senior night head football coach coach warner coach last week huge win over freeberg how do you not allow a letdown game this week against east dalton i think it's just the the next game mentality you know we talked this week about you know well at the end of the game last week enjoying the victory but then it was time to move on and monday is a refocused day for us start to put
020the game plan in and you know it's tough because you're coaching teenage kids but uh i think they'll be ready tonight i think they know it's senior night so that helps kind of make you forget a little bit about last week and and take care of business at hand so east dalton you've played them six times in your coaching career uh somebody we haven't seen that often but they will be joining the conference next season what do we expect out of them tonight and potentially in the future yeah i mean i think in in some ways a lot like freeburg just because their kids are big they're aggressive uh you know they're they're a run type team they like to run the football they have tight end and wing back in the game most times
021so try to come right at you um i i expected i expect it like every week you know if we don't control line of scrimmage we'll be in a dogfight if we control line of scrimmage i feel like our athletes are are good enough to uh to help us win and and hopefully win big you mentioned senior night you got 16 or 17 of them tonight what's your message to the guys when you come down here for warm-ups and your message you'll give them uh when you go back up that last time and you come back down for senior night and all the festivities well i think first and foremost uh you know you have to take it all in and this is going to be the last opportunity they have to play on this
022field in front of their home crowd and senior night's always special it's one of those nights that uh you know we'd love to to celebrate those guys uh i think it is about them tonight and all of our younger kids have to understand that they're playing for our seniors tonight and and we'll hopefully be able to send them off the way that they deserve to be sent off all right thank you coach appreciate it thank you [Music] come out of a big game like you had last week go up to a little bit of a lesser opponent this week you don't have that let game and that's what coach warner said you know you just got to play last week behind you it's a new week and just got to get the job done yeah
023absolutely and for these seniors that are coming out on their last last game plan on this field it's definitely going to be a special moment for london little for dawson sukup i know i could throw a lot more names out there that we'll uh we'll talk about later in the game but um senior night's supposed to be a special night and supposed to end on a win so that's we're hoping to see that tonight absolutely so coaches keys tonight pretty simple they haven't changed too much after last week yeah they really haven't i mean with number 30 being out too uh number one they're stopped the run so that should be a little easier for the eagles defense to maintain the run get them in the passing situations which we've seen all year and our
024cornerbacks and safeties have played really well dominic vaguely has stepped up as safety as a sophomore so he's he's been playing a lot better and then our our linebackers need to get more involved and make plays garrett poulter and a bunch of other guys need to get their names involved and make some big hits tonight and maybe pop some helmets off get the job done get a couple fumbles we've talked a lot about turnovers this year we've had a bunch of interceptions not too many fumbles so you know let's see if we can get one tonight um tonight's prediction for you what do you got i'm gonna go uh 35-6 i think the eagles are going to take this one um we might give up a touchdown late but i think coach g's defense is
025going to be solid throughout the whole game and i think we'll come out with the win i'm going go 42-6 same thing i don't think he's going to give up too many scorers tonight again could be a late one might squeak one in there every once in a while too i think our athletes like coach warner said our athletes are good enough i think they'll be able to get the job done like they have week in and week out for us so i'm not expecting a close one at all tonight i hope i'm i hope i'm right i hope i'm not wrong but i think the senior night could be pretty special for all these kids we've got football senior night cheerleading senior night junior rotc band so it's a lot of fun for all
026these kids they had so much taken away from them this year they can't have problem they can't have homecoming and they're cut three games yeah they're cut three games they're cut up playoffs yeah so hopefully tonight their senior night they get to go out have fun one more time together hopefully it's fulfilled and get out with a victory we are six minutes away the band is down on the field uh i can't imagine that the players will be too far behind so we will send it to a break we will get situated the way we need to be and we will bring you week five football here from columbia when we get back [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so [Applause] uh i don't care how many things you screw up in a night if you're
027a band but as long as you don't screw up that national anthem i'll be happy and we've never had an issue with mr i turski's band and congratulations mr aturski this is his final home game as well for football so uh a great job once again by mr turski and let's see what he's about to do now if he's going to back flops into that he's going to fall from the top step oh here he goes uh he turned around still pretty good though so good job mr turski once again good job banned something that pretty much goes synonymous with football is you got the band down there as well so enough pregame talk it's time for eagle football yeah i'm ready to go i'm ready to see adam with meyer senior kicker boom this
028one in the end zone and get this thing started columbia all season i don't know how many times we've received a kickoff he likes putting that defense out there uh out there first and it's it's worked out pretty good i mean a couple games we've had a a what is it a fumble right off the first or second play and then we scored right on the next next play so coach warner likes putting his defense out there to start the game to mix it up a little bit whitby sends it deep and it's going to go to the right side of the field where it gets kicked by an east alton player and i guess it rolled out of bounds over there would have been nice if it didn't after that would have been a
029fumble and uh columbia would have started off right away looked like we're used to doing it looked like he did touch it or did it go out of bounds spoilers will take over on the 25 stoney doesn't sound too sure what happened either and another thing stoney has made the comment that this is his last game we will see how truthful that is he said that a couple different times so we'll see what he has to say eagles defense comes out onto the field tonight then don't break mentality as the ball did go out of bounds so it will be at the 35 for east alton to take over i think it's different in every league nfl college you get it when it's out of bounds you get it at a different yard marker can't
030hand the ball off they're going to run to the left side and have nowhere to go it's going to be colin mclaren once again to make the tackle number 17 is going to be in as running back for east alton tonight with number 30 being out and it will be a loss of a yard [Applause] and when you look at this eagles defense right now i bet let's see mclaren senior sue cup senior hildebrand senior poultry senior london maulding i mean you look all over the field they're uh seven or eight of the guys are probably seniors out there so uh it's going to be sad to see these guys go next year but looking for a big game out of all of them sending a motion man's one of the wing backs it's going
031to be a counter the other way with a pulling tackle it looked like and they're not going to gain anything something new we've got tonight we're testing out getting ready for next season there's an on uh microphone and we have former chs wide receiver sam horner down on the field sam you got me yes i do can you guys hear me up there i think we got you up here what's the attitude like down there to start this game off tonight uh well you know i think i was talking to coach remain coach hunter before the game um they're a big team i don't think uh that's a secret so you know like i've always preached uh when i was in school you know when we win the game up front up in the trenches
032so i think if they dominate up front the way they want to tonight they'll they'll be in good shape london little nearly intercepts that ball it is complete over to the right side but good for nothing on the play sam only a year ago for you uh your senior night what do you remember out of that night andrew oh man uh it's it's some emotions i'll tell you that um yeah i can only imagine what these guys are going through you know with the year they've had um but it's it's it's a feeling like i've never had before you know stepping on the field especially in a school you've gone to your whole life grew up in and uh you know when it's possibly your last game on your home field it's it's definitely different
033feeling but i think it gives you sort of like some motivation you know so to really get after it so the dangerous london little is going to return the punt not too many opportunities this year he's going to get a couple yards and he's going to fake like he's going out of bounds stays in to get an extra 10. having somebody like that return punch sure is fun sam i appreciate talking to you we'll probably be coming down to you a little bit later and we might even see if your brother nick wants to talk to us as well yep sounds good we'll share that we'll share the fame so appreciate it sam yep no problem [Music] so columbia's offense comes out last week had 147 rushing yards 141 passing yards so gotta love the
034uh the balance attack that the eagles had last week quarterback colin mclaren is gonna come out the senior he's gonna have doubles the left side wing back left he's gonna hand the ball off to london little going to fumble it that ain't good and it's going to be recovered by east alton at the 50-yard line and the east alton oilers will start over right there in the middle of the field and that's some coach horner is not going to be happy happy with because uh normally whenever you're coming out in a game like this uh it's senior night um the other team is owen four so i mean you you can't play down the the other team's level you gotta come out ready to play and they're on the first on the first play the
035of the offense fumble the ball so uh coach warner will not be happy after that play but looking for a good stop here by the defense so they're going to have single wide receivers going to send the motion man to the left side hand the ball off once again just going to power their way for another yard going to be brought down there looks like carrie schrader one yard number 75 dawson sukhop three keys to the next game jared what do you got this for us this evening um so uh i know i know uh that coach horner said um avoid the letdown game um coming off a big win last week like we had against freeburg you got to come out ready to play and like i said after that fumble right there he's
036not going to be too happy about that but start fast we obviously haven't done that yet on the offensive side of the ball but enjoy the moment this is a senior's last home game so make it a fun one doubles the left side gonna be a pass just a little now route gonna be caught gonna be brought down by whibby who takes on the stalk block and the tackle that's complete dispenser and little in on the tackle tackle by number 77 mason colemberger the number 22 oliver a bunch of seniors getting in on the action early for the eagles great to see it did fill up pretty quick here earlier we were uh 30 minutes away from kickoff when me and alex were talking there was not a lot of people up in the stands
037but now you look down and there's left to right it's almost pretty full [Applause] a brisk evening from the columbia multi-purpose field where the three-in-one eagles take on the owen four oilers gonna be a quick handoff it's gonna be a reverse up the middle she's gonna be snuffed out right away by oliver schrader great job staying home like you said jared that's something you've seen over the years with the dylan hildebrands the uh who else who else played outside linebacker like whenever you were playing derrick hornbassel derek hornbassel with those long arms i mean we've had so many uh athletic guys that can play that position to where you force the guys in uh back inside to your other teammates and um that forces them to come make plays so it's nice to see oliver
038schrader make a good play there coach warner's mom once again from fort myers florida coming in as always we appreciate it she's got two grandsons turning 19 years old today nick and sam happy birthday boys fourth down and six east alton's going to go for it's going to be a draw looks like the quarterback was wanting to keep it not going to get anything and brought down by a host of eagles and it'll be a turnover on downs right at the 50-yard line again no gain on the play we'll see uh coach horner coming back out he had london little at the running back position looks like he's gonna put mclaren in there with uh mcconaughey now back at the running back we talked about mcconaughey the big week last week having the three touchdowns
039only rush though for a few yards thought we'd rush for a lot more it's gonna be a quick pass to london little up the middle he's gonna try to make something out of nothing but he's not gonna get anything before getting popped trying to make the spin move mcconaughey last week 18 rushes for 60 yards we'll forget about that three touchdowns good job kyle officially a loss of a yard on the pass from mclaren too little i thought that would have been a closer schroeder comes on two train comes off [Music] schroeder goes to his normal sniffer back position doubles for the eagles up top single wide running back is mcconaughey he's going to take the hand off he's going to get hit at the line of scrimmage he's going to make a juke try
040to cut up the middle and he's going to gain eight yards good start for the night for kyle mcconaughey [Applause] mcconaughey's a guy give him a little space and he's gonna he's gonna he's gonna make you miss he's got them quick feet uh he's good good on his feet and he likes to go right to left real quick and bounce around so great job to bring up a manageable third down tight end same formation just to the right side for the eagles they're going to get close to a first down fighting for an extra yard might be fourth down in the length of a football though kyle mcconkey on the carry picks up two yards on the blood that go by justin franklin same formation run the same play east alton already has their hands
041on their hips four down lineman four linebackers gonna hand the ball off up the middle kyle's got to get one and he does he's gonna get four maybe good for columbia eagles first down kyle mcconaughey on the character yeah i think coach warner did run the same play there looked like uh mclaren got the ball and handed it right off to mcconaughey right up the middle haven't really seen any outside zone no outside runs mcconaughey's been running straight up the middle inside the two guards so a little different scheme for coach horner and mcconaughey doubles for the eagles east alton three down linemen two linebackers gonna be a quick now route to wibbs he makes one man miss he makes two men miss he's got london blocking down field for him oh and he's got
042whibs for a first down columbia two back-to-back plays for the eagles i don't think i've ever seen wibbs make a move like that [Music] great yards after catch there some yak yards sometimes receivers like to say doubles to the right side sniffer back right mcconaughey the pistol back split up by himself is andrew malding hand the ball off once again to mcconaughey to the left side going to gain three get the ball towards the middle of the field everybody's always worried about london down here so they always try to put somebody man on them with the safety over the top you got maulding up there though i mean a lot of that guy's going to be starting let's watch him here he's seven yards deep right now start a little round now round him his
043speed and athleticism can take over trips to the right side this time going to be a roll out to the right mclaren's looking deep he's not going to be able to find anybody going to have to tuck it and he's going to lose five third down in 13 now so has a quarterback there alex when you're rolling out there nobody's open do you do you throw it away when you're rolling out or i mean are you is it a penalty if you're if you're out of the box in high school or what is the intentional grounding for as long as you're out of the tackle box and you get it past the line of scrimmage and throw it within 10 yards of a receiver of a receiver but on that one you don't really want
044to stop everybody's chasing you from behind yeah so right there in my car mclaren rather he stopped on the plate and let everybody catch up just keep running try to make something happen and hopefully you can find it trips to the left side doubles to the right empty backfield mclaren looks to the right now he's trying to go to the left and he's going to be sacked once again you can see coach horner out there near the numbers kicking the dust up not good whenever you have three linemen with their hands on their hips right away looking at the quarterback going oh should i have made that block clearance back by spencer sleighton brings up fourth down and now that's two sacks in a row and uh a fumble on the previous drive and looks
045like coach horner is really not going to be happy after that one after having a good start to this drive and then two sacks that just killed it whib's gonna get the pun off and it looks like it's gonna be oh down the one at the one great job wibby who do we have down there mcconaughey and london both 33 yards great punt great coverage columbia this week we met with the senior class and we asked them who they would like to thank on their senior night my name is andrew malding i'm number 20 and i would like to thank my parents and grandparents my name is mason kohlenberger i'm number 77 i'd like to thank god my family my friends my coaches for supporting me always got to keep the people who got to
046this point in mind and then the boys did a good job this week we will meet with every senior and uh they each had something to say throughout the week at practice listen to the band getting into it [Applause] i love that running back to the right side he's gonna have to fight to get past the line of scrimmage and he does good for two maybe three yards brings up a second and seven we've talked about the bands in basketball all the time football they do just as well down there especially right now you're gonna see it yeah in basketball i mean there's not a better feeling running out of that tunnel on that that is just one of the greatest feelings i've ever had in my life from from being a columbia basketball player
047so i know if any uh other columbia basketball player previously that have played here uh it's it's pretty special so thanks to mr mr attersky for all the years barking this time gonna be a quick now slant route and it's gonna be through the hands of wibbs and i think that was just enough to throw off the wide falls in receiver as the ball falls incomplete barking like dogs let's see what we got on third down see there on that uh outside linebacker if that was derek cormbass that was probably an interception no that was not his hands were horrible what he had those uh gator haters yeah yeah there wasn't too many interceptions through those hands now if you picked up a fumble you weren't going to catch them but yeah interception i think
048was out of the car his one stride is probably four of mine at least third and seven doubles running back to the right side quarterbacks looking right the timing rod is going to be picked off by london little he's got to make one man miss and he does columbia eagles touchdown [Music] maybe that can get your offense going i think so get the whole team going jackson saigon and wibbelmeyer for the pat good snap good hold kick is up and it sneaks in that left upright and it is good a little bit of a slow start for the eagles but that's all right the defense has got your back we are going to head to a break and we will be back for the week five action between the eagles and the oilers right after
049this [Music] who needs offense defense wins championships defense scores first london little with about a 25 yard interception goes an infrared touchdown where the columbia eagles now lead seven nothing with two minutes and 38 seconds remaining wibb with a much better kick this time booming caught at the three gotta have contained by the return team and they do much better and it will be down at the 20 where east alton will come back had a little powder on that touchdown alex by the oh i forgot about that gosh dang it i forgot about it too but i can just see it in the air now as we have a white out by the blue crew tonight think that's something they did they started it uh a couple years ago our first touchdown they have like
050what is it just regular white powder and they just throw it up in the air i know you see it at like college games and stuff but um i guess we're on that trend now so go eagles first down in 10 for the oilers columbia gonna have four down linemen three linebackers gonna be a stretch play to the right side we force it back in where they're going to gain three believe that linebacker on that side's mclaren and it's a big play for him he's got to force everything back into where all the tacklers are not let it get [Applause] wider biltman gets credit for the tackle he's standing at the 45-yard line over here we do not have to worry about who was at schrader last week at number 24 columbia's back in their
051blues he's number 22 in the books and 22 on the field tonight so we won't lose track of him four down linemen three linebackers once again looks like they're sending the blitz and they are whibby nearly gets a tackle but he gets blocked down running backs are going to gain enough for a first down before he's brought down by hildebrand and little [Applause] coach g called the right defense we just weren't able to get there and that's something that uh every defensive coach knows i mean sometimes you gotta take chances and um you gotta blitz some guys whenever you don't really know what play they're gonna run i mean um there what was it third down and uh second down and we coach tremain wanted to blitz a little bit bring the juice um guy
052just missed uh missed his missed his lane a little bit and they were able to pick up a first down but yeah going back to uh being a defensive coach i know you take a lot of chances and um you're you're basically betting on a lot of uh a lot of plays that you don't know the offense is going to run number 35 the motion man gonna go up the middle this time not gain anything nailed by the four or five linemen [Applause] yard but thrown back after that schrader on the season leading the team 26 tackles [Applause] colin berger with 13. doubles to the right side tight and left wing back left sends him in motion gonna fake the handoff going to try to get a screen pass and it's going to be knocked
053down at the line of scrimmage i think the white hat was kind of trying to figure out what happened nobody blew their whistle but big time knocked down by the eagles defensive line i didn't know i didn't see who that really was it looked like either sukup or i mean all three of them were in the backfield just like that so it was hard to kind of see who knocked it down but great job by d-line it busts through the line and bring up a third down east alton runs a huddle every play and they're getting it off under five seconds just about every play it seems like three two one they're going to get it off they're going to try the reverse again traders oliver schrader great job two times now on the reverse
054for a total of negative four yards i think on the two times average and coach remain is definitely going to express that to him next time he uh runs off the field that's something that he has emphasized over the years for those linebackers to just stay home um because if you see a guard or a tackle pulling you know um they're probably coming right back your way so um great job by schroeder um seeing those first two plays on those first two reverses that we've seen the to stop them there and cut them short after one eagles lead at seven nothing we will send it over to evan pruitt and adam webermeyer on what they have to say on senior night i'm evan pruitt i'm number and i'd like to thank my parents coach horner
055and coach germaine for always pushing me i'm adam windmire number 23 and i'd like to thank my family my friends and my parents and everybody who made me the person i am today i'd like to give a special shout out to my 8th grade basketball coach john weirenberg fourth down in 12 for the oilers looks like they will be in a punt formation number 35 is getting a workout tonight just being a motion man they get the punt offense a side spinning punt gonna be caught by little the band's still playing band's still playing hildebrand with a big block london's gonna try to make a move not be able to get too much after that 35-yard punt and still flying over 10 yards near the 36 yard line tackle by number out there with the
056ball once again i told this week i said hey pregame interview i'm coming for you and he goes i'm running if you come down so me and mr nickerson go down for the interview and all of a sudden what's he do he takes off running i thought he he was kidding he said he was busy he had to go first and 10 for the eagles mclaren in with quarterback empty backfield trips to the right side doubles to the left looks like we got him to jump offsides there encroachment against the oilers stoney making the encroachment call before the official does so alfie longoff moving five yards up to bring a first down and five over on the chain gang same formation for the eagles four linemen two linebackers for the oilers mclaren takes the snap
057he's gonna stay in the pocket he's looking down the middle of the field he's got london he's got london for another columbia eagles touchdown come on come on [Music] so saigon and wibbs once again good snap good hold kick is up right down broadway so 20 seconds into the second quarter a 60-yard touchdown pass from mclaren to london london couldn't have been any more wide open he ran a vertical straight down the field and i think mclaren just said i'm throwing this and you're going to get it and that's what london did right there through it where nobody else could have caught it there was no one within 10 15 yards when he caught that ball so um i mean great job there by the offense and great job by coach warner of just taking
058a shot i think he called all verts there i saw all sync every single receiver put their head straight down and just start to take off running so coach warner definitely came out wanted to take a shot there and he got it done we said that they like to run a safety over the top of london i don't know if they sucked up too far on that play but no safety was like you said within 10 yards of them so maybe he's just that fast like they say in the longest yard he makes fast people look not fast so with that columbia goes up 14-0 11 40 remaining in the first half columbia with the share of the cahokia conference and taking on a conference foe here in the future webb sends it deep once
059again will be caught at the two east salton's going to try to go up the middle they're not going to be able to get too much up the middle they're going to try to stretch to the outside where they're not going to get anything out there good job andrew mulden keeping everything in front of him that's something we've seen off these first two kickoffs um previous weeks we've seen on this kickoff team they've always they get down the field they just can't settle down and find the ball and make a tackle offenses starting at around the 45 50 yard line the last couple weeks so maybe coach kendall emphasized that once you get down the field you got to find the ball or find the ball while you're looking or while you're running down the
060field so great job by the kickoff team this week so far now is that what you do on a kickoff team do you run down and then kind of settle down and try to figure out what's happening in front of you i mean i think you kind of look out look for the ball while you're running down the field and see kind of where the blockers are running to but [Music] outside zone gets stuffed i couldn't even tell on that right side who was in on that play looked like mclaren and schroeder were there to force it back inside but um great job by these outside linebackers tonight so far forcing everything back in and staying home after that big touchdown colin mclaren what do you have to say with garrett poultry to your senior
061night i'm garrett pulcher i'm number 52 and i'm thankful for coach g for helping me through this season learning linebacker uh i'm colin mclaren number 15. i'd like to thank god and my family friends and just previous coaches for uh supporting me and just making me the player i am perfect timing as we come up for the second down and 13 for east alton going to be a pass play left side nearly gets to be a sack quarterback has to get rid of it throws it to the ground contested on the play there was maulding and little number 65 for the eagles was in the backfield in a hurry owen brewer the junior i believe yeah i looked on this thing earlier we don't even have the what grade they're in our rosters we'll have
062to make a request third and 13 now 10 minutes 40 seconds remaining in the first half coach horner this year taking over as a.d and or last year rather a.d and football coach will mention a couple people here in the future being both of those he's got a lot on his plate so a little miss q here in there is okay a little flare screen to the outside going to be sniffed out and tackled by two eagles wibbs and london to bring up a fourth down and nine like i said we'll be talking a little bit later about everybody who makes this possible coach warner says he's got it pretty easy you know he's just got a group of guys that know what to do and they take care of work and he shows up
063on friday and everything's done for him so if he forgets to put the grades on the sheet that's okay this year we'll get them next year looks like they're in pump formation here running little standing at about the 50 yard line and this punt is either tipped or shanked [Music] but it was about a 10 yard punt it ends up uh as and looks like the eagles are going to take over around the 30 yard line so 12 yards great start here uh for the eagles offense they don't got to go too far to get reached the end zone honestly i don't think the chains moved i think they just re-tightened them looks like vaguely in it quarterback now doubles to the left trips to the right [Music] reverts again all works might as well
064they're doing man-to-man once again it's going to be a quarterback scramble up the middle and a little bit of a draw once again though not too many uh the linemen there looked like he was in the middle of the hole there dahmering into the back of him but that's good for eight yards i did also talk with coach germain this week and they said they integrated a new uh offensive set that we might see a little later on with london little running a little quarterback maybe wildcat action so maybe we'll see that a little later same play once again dom's gonna get enough for a first down good for four was telling me about that this week too saying how london was going to be back there he goes they got a funny name for
065it i just can't think of it i go you're talking about a wild cat yeah that's it he thought it had something to do with london same formation three down lineman two linebackers and we verts up the middle he's got two train across the middle and he was about a second late if he would have got rid of that ball right now i think we have another touchdown knocked down good enough pass though to where nobody else could get it but the receiver uh safety came over and made a good leap for it but it was really high so nobody could really get to it but great job to throw it out of the quarterback's reach two train off schrader on tight end for the eagles to the right side we're going to run it
066to the right side with mcconaughey he's going to dance around get four and bring up a manageable third down and six but once again columbia needs to work on running up the attack through the tackles again four yards on the play tackle by number six josh franklin brings up third down and six [Applause] columbia's just gonna flip the formation whip it tight end four down lineman two linebackers we're gonna fake the handoff dom's gonna keep it he's gonna try to get to the outside he's gonna get spun around to go back to the inside runs into a lineman once again [Applause] but that's good for columbia eagles first down get out of the way big uglies it's like tetris what is it pinball out there he's bouncing around seven yards first down for the eagles
067can he beat him we'll see if we can score a touchdown here if we can go down the same horner and talk to him and see what's been going down on the sidelines first down and goal turn around hand the ball off nope we're going to fake it we got a man open schrader schrader in for columbia eagles touchdown [Music] get you some action there big guy that his first touchdown of the year i believe i believe so that's not something that you get those pullbacks in the in the ball too much east alton loads the right side we're gonna have to move a man over to account for all of that good snap good hold kick is up and it is good [Music] we've got sam horner down on the field once again sam
068eagle starting real quick up 21-0 they having some fun down there tonight [Applause] yeah i'm sorry about that little technical thing but yeah i am it's great it's great atmosphere down here tonight good deal i like how you're staying far enough away from all the coaches you're you're staying far enough away but you're getting into the action when you need to as well what are some things that you're seeing down there that you know they always say the game's a lot easier whenever you're not into the game are you seeing some things that you wish you would have saw as a player in previous years you know i it they look good out there i think they're listening to coach warner talk on the sideline and they're putting a bunch of different looks at us
069defensively and i think they're doing a good job of you know auto bowling and cons and plays on the fly so i think if they're able to keep that up they'll be in good shape good deal uh looks like wibb here he learned a thing or two from you in years past and me and j-rod as he sends this ball deep and i don't think they're going to return this one is they're not i think you uh you perfected getting the touchbacks and wibbs picked up right where you left off and i guess you picked up where jared left off huh yeah uh that's a special kid man i i had the luxury of having him under my wing um you know coming up through freshman year sophomore junior senior year so i mean that
070kid's got a strong leg i'm not sure if i ever quite reached the touch back um as much as whibby does but you know i think he's doing a phenomenal job out here and if you i feel like if he wants i know he's playing baseball at swic but which is awesome for him but i think if he wanted a career somewhere to go kick in college i think he'd be great do you want to do the play-by-play on this play here i can yeah i mean go for it you got it all right i'm new to this so don't give me any uh one to the right here column mclaren great pursuit right there coming down with the tackle that kid i've seen a lot from that kid in the past two years i'll
071tell you what the great that that kid has you know being able to split time with with dominic vaguely i think it's it's huge for him to be able to do that and accept that role and i think he's even phenomenal a more phenomenal job on defense because he's a hard hitter man i think he'll really get his nose in there yeah he runs downhill pretty hard and then he had two train all of our defensive backs this year they're flying through the alleys and at one time i think dominic vaguely was leading the team in tackles so not something that you want out of a safety but if he's gonna make the play let him go make the play exactly yeah man as long as they're staying disciplined back there and doing their job
072they'll have a very successful night four down linemen three linebackers they're going to try to run up the middle they're not going to get anything once again big tackle there looked like colin berger i believe owen brown i think it was owen brewer yeah that's another kid who didn't play much last year but it's phenomenal i think it's really stepped up and kenningstein's down there as well the sophomore gonna be fun seeing him grow up too so we're under seven minutes here in the second quarter we'll come back to you ahead halftime sounds good all right thanks sam third down in seven this time for the warrior oilers sorry ball at their own 23-yard line doubles this time to the left sending the man in motion they're going to try the stretch to the outside
073we lose contain the ring back's going to get a first down by about a yard as he gains eight and that's enough to get them a fresh set of downs watch the film last week with coach germain freeburg did not have a first down until halfway through the second quarter and i believe that just happened here i don't think uh e sultan's had a first down tonight until right there [Applause] coach she's always ready to play always got his defense ready it's always great to see especially on a night like this whenever you want your guys not to play down to this team's level um and they're coming out ready to play and it's it's awesome to see motion man is number 35 they're going to run a counter to the left side not going
074to be able to get anything out of it as looks like big number 77 mason kohlenberger i watched him on that play i think we're going to keep collin berger to that tight end and wing back side if you watch them they kind of start in the middle of the field and then they kind of move around wherever east alton lines up you got two big horses in the middle with kenningstein and kohlenberger they can clog a lot of holes up in a hurry brewer to the right side this time with kenningstein mclaren up looking like he will blitz so do the rest of linebackers and east is alton's to call a timeout with that easton andrews and kyle jackson are next to seniors to thank on senior night kyle jackson number 54 and thank
075for my parents and all my coaches all my previous coaches through blue jays and up easton andrews number 70 and i'd like to thank my family and all my previous coaches and coaches now that have pushed me to be the best football player i can be welcome back to the columbia multi-purpose field for week five action against the three-in-one eagles and 0-4 east salton wood river oilers columbia leads it 21-0 second down in 10 for east salton going to be a quick slant route to number five and it's gonna be picked off once again andrew malding with a snag through the hands of number five and andrew malding the conference leader in turnovers the team leader in turnovers with his fourth interception on the season i don't know how he came up with that one
076that would that one probably would have hit me square in the nose but great job of uh maulding of staying aware there ball went right through the receiver's hands and um ended up in his and he comes away with an interception first down and ten we're going to fake the bubble we're going to take a shot to london it's going to be a little underthrown high pointed by london but falls incomplete a little under throne yeah let that ball go down i'd like to let the pair of snow of the color guard and the van that need to report down to the inflatable helmet london had to slow down a little bit when he got to about the 20-yard line but it's nice when you're a quarterback i'm sure you had a guy or two
077that could just run by anybody and it's nice when you have a receiver like that to where um you can just throw it as far as you as far as you want and either they're going to get it or nobody else's kind of key tries going up the middle and he had to stretch it to the outside i think he should have just kept going up the middle there and he already got a couple extra yards but with that little step to the left he actually lost a yard on the step to the left and it'll be a third down to nine i had eric reed who outran my arm i'm not saying i had a strong arm that kid was just quick and then i had stephen york same way quick had sure hands
078up too so that was he was my third down receiver if i needed mr reliable huh yep i needed to catch i was going to york trips to the right side heart count for the eagles and they get all three of the linemen to bring up a third down and four [Applause] that's something we've seen over uh the first couple weeks we saw whenever we would run those plays we we would jump off sides a couple a couple times and uh the first couple weeks so it's nice to see um us not jump offsides and um to stay disciplined and coach horner's done a great job with his team um and keeping them disciplined throughout the year um whenever this year has been much a much shorter year and all out of whack dom going
079to be on the quarterback draw he's going to get to the outside gets a big block from mcconaughey and he makes one man miss and he's going to get into the endzone touchdown dominic vaguely [Applause] now he kind of got stuck in the pile there for a little bit and then he just came running out of there with the ball and from about the 15-yard line he was he was gone nobody was going to catch him great job by uh the sophomore vaguely to reach the end zone almost gets lost there man goes untouched number one nearly gets a block but it goes through colombia leads it 28-0 we will send it to a break and we will be back for the final four minutes and five seconds of the first half from columbia [Applause]
080[Music] whibby's gonna send it deep and it will be returnable from the one and a half yard line where the east salt noilers are going to go to the left side going to have good contain now it's just going to be chasing them down which the eagles do goes to the one yard line returned out to the near the 25. and it will be a first down for the oilers let us know where you were listening from just had one listener say they are down at the lake listening in [Applause] aces wild has the game streaming as well we've seen california we've seen there's the meadow clan from willisville [Applause] fort myers i believe i saw california and alabama maybe too usually a colorado one on there every week too [Applause] hand the ball off
081this time to the running back who's gonna try to go to the left side look like just a zone play there and gain three yards [Applause] howie buddy and sharky got their uh their work cut out for them tonight watching the running back and trying to figure out who's making the tackles because there's just a pile it seems like on every play and that's something coach germain has enforced his whole career here at getting getting hats to the football that's the uh that's the best thing um that you can ask for as a defensive coach get as many hats to the ball as you can and um just making plays the beavers are listening from dekalb illinois where donovan is a football player for northern illinois correct [Applause] the 2019 the ball off this time
082going to get a stretch play to the right side going to be good for a first down as the running back had a full head of steam caught by number 52 poultry and brought down after a first down was gained three minutes remaining just under three minutes rather in the first half we will have more senior night at halftime i believe the band gets honored at half columbia going to have four down linemen three linebackers sending a man in motion is mclaren it's going to be a counter to the right side tripped up maybe by his own feet as a running back and he gains six yards looks like you saw more rivers just gonna keep running the ball here what do we have two interceptions already on tonight how to pick six and maulding
083with a great awareness on that last interception so looks like he saw him with rivers just gonna try to get to halftime with a four touchdown deficit and just let this clock keep running 201 remaining in the first half second down and four try to stretch the ball left side just a zone maybe a trap if that good for two maybe three and brings up a third down and one some of the student sections starting to walk around now this little uh dust powder thing whatever they threw like you had said it was a whiteout threw up some blue powder they've got it in their hair their shirts are all messed up pretty sweet looking deal i wish i would have remembered that yeah i totally forgot about it third down in one would love
084for some people to make some noise on this place so in the future if you're at the games make some noise on third down hand the ball off up the middle it's going to be stuffed loss of two that kullenberger was there first [Applause] time out here time out coach horner you know he's going to take his shot yep he wants that 40 point lead third down and one at midfield the defense walks off the field london still isn't even in the huddle yet have i mentioned how nuts that drives me oh i know you say that oh man fourth down and two what are you gonna do here i mean uh you're on the defensive side of the ball so i think you you just blitz as many guys as you can they've been
085running the ball a lot on this drive so um most likely not going to put it in the air but if you're east saltwood river i'm putting the ball away here i'm not giving columbia the ball right at midfield i'm pinning them as far back as i can and letting them go a full 80 to 90 yards to score a touchdown in almost under a minute so if i'm in solidwood river i'm definitely punting the ball away but we'll see what they have to do here we'll see what they're going to do second down or fourth down and two rather from their own 45-yard line i think they're gonna go for it questionable call if he gets it he's a smart man they're gonna hand the ball off to the right side they're gonna get
086it they needed two they got two and a half and that's good for an oilers first down see there if you trust your own trust your offensive line to get two yards i mean which a lot of offenses do and a lot of coaches do um but their their their run hasn't really been too much of a problem for the eagles tonight um but they were able to pick up a two and a half yard gain pick up a first down with just under 45 seconds to go in this first half doubles to the left side tight end right wing back right going to look for the deep ball to the left side they got molding to contest with and they're going to catch it because he's going to fall down the catch malding was
087there but a good catch by east alton gets in the first down and down to the 22 yard line they still have all three timeouts they're going to burn one right here with 32 seconds yeah so they still got um they're not inside the red zone yet they're about the 22 yard line with two timeouts to go after this one but um all they did there was throw the ball up and maulding uh was almost almost made the play but great catch by the salton wood river once again to mizzou go tigers happy 19th birthday [Applause] from the boys in the box is it 19 or are they 20. i thought they were 19. i think they're only 19. they graduated last year doubles the left side tied in right wing back right running back
088to the left gonna be another pass play they're looking for the wheel route london got that london he's in the right spot yeah if his arms would have been about eight foot in his leg might have been about eight foot he might have stayed in bounds as the ball nearly hits the track i've seen a play where a guy jumped out of bounds while he was inbounds and tipped the ball back in threw it back yeah and then and then his teammate that was standing so it was an interception i wonder if that would that would count i mean they counted it high school football i think it should count you know we laugh about that play there but that's actually a really good play on east alton's part there's a quarterback you have a
089chance at scoring don't do anything stupid if he's not there throw it out of bounds and he did he threw it to the track that's what you won as a coach motion man's number 35 or they're gonna go counter up the middle and it's gonna be caught by owen brewer i think he was just there and he didn't have an option he had to hold on to the guy and he was getting hit so that brings up a third down and nine and east alton will go to another timeout once again as we mentioned mr reiterski's final game final home game at chs for the football team he's always got the band ready to go there in state competition [Music] columbia kid in the past 20 20 to 25 years however long he's been here
090has uh learned how to play the recorder for mr raterski so congratulations mr i turski on a great career and enjoy retirement that was a false start going to be a pass to the right side they're looking for the end zone there's gonna be three eagles and two oilers tipped up in the air and it's gonna be caught by east alton number five wow i think they bounced off one of our helmets as high as that ball that ball went straight up in the air great great job by the oiler they're sticking with it yeah being aware of what's going on around him i mean there was you had london little maulding bryce hildebrand and then you had two receivers that were so you had five guys going for that ball and the ball went
091straight up in the air and one east altman river receiver was um aware and saw it floating in the air and said i'm gonna i'll take that i'll take six so east alton will come out and they will go for two here on the play based on their scores of scoring six and twelve points i guess they do not have a kicker doubles to the left side tight end right wing back right goes in motion to the left side they're going to run to the left side going to be just a quick slant where it will fall incomplete so columbia leads it 28-6 11 seconds to go in the first half both of our scores are still on we're on we're on pace yep we will go to break as we will have senior night
092for the band at halftime welcome back to the multi-purpose field where east alton is going to kick it deep and it will go out of bounds at the 28-yard line so columbia will take over at the 35-yard line in high school so columbia's gonna go out 28-6 lead 11 seconds to go see if coach warner just goes victory here and takes a knee and goes into halftime with the big lead i believe that's what he's going to do he's got mclaren the field right now such a simple formation but it's always confusing oh i know nobody knows where to go mclaren takes the snap takes the knee and that will get the clock rolling i remember the first time we did victory official kept throwing a flag we didn't know that we were missing a

099is winning the spirit stick for junior year biggest accomplishment on chs receiving a first place reading and solo ensemble sophomore year ladies and gentlemen everybody please stand big round of applause for our color guard and fan members our seniors have been here supporting columbia high school for four years that would feel great [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] so [Music] oh [Music] [Applause] [Music] now is [Applause] [Music] [Applause] sure [Music] yes [Music] [Applause] foreign [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] oh [Music] [Applause] [Music] hey [Applause] um [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] one two one two three four [Music] done [Music] watch out they're gonna [Applause] oh [Applause] welcome back ladies and gentlemen to the halftime show just completed we are going to have sam horner on the phone once again jared
100and sam take it away so sam over that first half we saw uh the eagles didn't have a really good start we started out with a fumble right off first play on the offensive side of the ball so from that point on what did what did coach horner really have to say to get his offense going um after a kind of rough start i think it was just you know lighting a fire in him um i think the nerves you know every time i don't know about you jared but every time i got here i was always nervous for that first play but once that first play hit those nerves went away so i think that might have had a bit of a factor going into that but um i know in the past this
101coaching staff does a great job of motivating their players and lighting the fire under their bellies to get going so i think probably what that's what i heard was going on down here and i'm sure they went half time too i'm sure it wasn't a quiet locker room so um i'm i'm sure i'm confident they're going to come out second half you know doing what they need to do oh yeah definitely and uh you probably after london little had that fumble you don't really see him muffin the ball up a lot so you probably had a lot of other seniors probably hitting his helmet and trying to lift him up and get him right back out there on the field and do do what he does best and get in the end zone and that's
102what he did in the second quarter so i'm looking forward to uh second half here um what do you uh what do you what seniors are you looking forward to uh seeing see the field here um you know i think uh i think so far whibby has done a great job uh defensively he's really getting in the spot saying he needs to to uh to be but i'm very interested uh coming into the second half if we if we can get this score up a little bit more we're gonna see a lot of some guys who don't usually get some time and i think there's a lot of kids who are itching to play on the sideline because it's a good group of kids we've been playing for a long time they're gonna be psyched
103uh to play together um on their senior night so i think i'm looking at some kids you know on the sideline right now um you know i think colin probably might get some more reps back at qb um the second half definitely and uh yeah i think maybe bryce heather man or aaron two train might get on in the action a little bit in the backfield so we'll see all right sounds good sam thank you uh for coming on here and uh you said you're gonna come get another pair of headphones yep i'll see you up there in sec all right sounds good thank you that was 2020 grad sam horner playing in the 2019 season i said he was a 2019 grad earlier played in the 2019 season they are at the university of
104missouri now shout out to the alma mater from columbia to columbia they went so columbia kicked off in the first half will receive the second half kickoff 28th the sixth lead jared knigh's predictions we're right on track number 14 sends it to the 33-yard line where it's caught by two trainees gotta get up the middle in a hurry and he's going to get to the 43 and good field position on a good return there by two training to get back up the middle and try to make something happen yeah they set that ball up all the way on the on the hash mark and kicked it all the way to the opposite side of the numbers so great job by the kickoff return team to be ready there and make your uh make your moves
105and set guys in the right spot and 2 train was able to come up with the ball there and gain a few yards to see what this offense can do as we see looks like london little is going to be running quarterback right now got the wildcat london's going to be the quarterback he's going to fake the pass going to get behind a couple running or blockers rather and he's going to gain five as he reaches the 43-yard line that's at wildcat that we had mentioned earlier and that's something that if we were playing in a full season with playoffs that we'd probably see a lot more of it's something that a lot of defenses will would not like to go against because if you if you're if you have a guy like on in
106little and he's touching the ball on every single play that means that something great is about to happen so um it's it's pretty nice to see london little move around literally in every single position on the field and him still succeed in it mclaren and back in the quarterback hands the ball off to mcconaughey you're going to get to the outside for enough of a first down before finally stepping out of bounds good for six and a half good for a first down five or six yards close to a first down tackle by number two the latest comment said shout out to the lady cheerleaders ready to the eagles lady cheerleaders haven't made a comment on their push-ups yet tonight so do some quick math i haven't had to do too many quite yet mr
107holton doing his tips and i'm back everybody yeah eagles first down doubles to the left side hand the ball off nope going to be faked mclaren is going to keep it he's going to go up the middle he's got enough for a first down and gets tripped up on some nifty footwork by himself too the first down what was your longest run alex you think in your career you don't know no i bet howie could get it for you in about a week i bet he could have an answer for you i'd like to get with howie in the offseason and try to figure out some of them goofy stats of the longest runs longest pass plays interceptions because like you said you know that they're there yeah he's got him he's got him that
108is the plan we have some cool stuff ready to go for next year in our minds at least we'll have to make it happen in the off season quick turnaround this year as we will start playing again in august fake the handoff to mcconaughey who gets blown up on the play but it's going to be a completion of london little he makes a couple of minutes he's got to get to the outside he's got one man to miss he hurdled he's going to get stopped this week at the four but that is good for about 27 yards in another columbia eagles first down as they enter the red zone on first and goal man he's exciting to watch and i was talking to coach germain right before the game down there in pre-game and um
109he even said that london little could be a top five columbia football player that he's ever ever coached or seen so um just for all these columbia fans out here with only two games well a game and a half left of london little's career um it's definitely going to be sad to see him go but we are lucky enough to have a guy like london little in our program doubles the left side hand the ball off to mcconaughey he's going to go up the middle and he's going to get in for another columbia eagles touchdown [Applause] [Music] [Applause] mcconaughey picking up where he left off last week with another touchdown run for himself the junior running back so it's going to be exciting to have him come back and hopefully put on a little bit
110of weight and start seeing him running between the cards and tackles a little more saigon webb and jackson kick is up kick is good well i need the store to stay just like this the rest of the game alex and my prediction is spot on you know i'd like one more touchdown so shout out to the lady eagles cheerleaders as they're working on their push-ups now i'm doing some quick math five i think 105 push-ups now on the night i don't know if they've had a game where they didn't have to do other than at least a hundred yeah at least 100 push-ups in the night remember i think it was back in redbud they used to have the old cinder track yeah imagine putting your hands on that and yeah that would not be
111fun so that takes the lead columbia 35 east alton six we have on to kick once again for the eagles with nine minutes and 42 seconds remaining [Applause] in the third quarter two minutes and 18 seconds on that drive for columbia it sends it deep high kick this time going to be caught at the four yard line good job by the eagles getting down the field now they got to make a tackle and they do at the 21 yard line looks to be number 30 i believe that's like on the tackle nope it's elijah jarvis kickoff team doing a great job like i said earlier though tonight especially flying down the field and finding the ball east dalton will take the field at their own 22-yard line grip going out swapping out balls been doing
112it for about 30 years he said today another guy that like we said earlier coach warner doesn't have to worry about he just knows he's going to be there [Laughter] hand the ball off this time to number 17 to the right side where he's going to gain maybe a yard if that and will be brought down we talked with london little and michael jacobs this week on their senior night my name is london little number 28 and i want to thank my friends family my coaches just everybody who's been here for me uh my name is michael jacobs i'm number 80 and i'd like to thank my lovely parents second down in nine for the eagles what was that his lovely mother i saw that one earlier this week and it made me smile a
113little bit i'm a mama's boy myself so you don't say i probably shouldn't be talking doubles on the left side running back left send a man in motion to the left and they run it to the right gonna get to the line of scrimmage and that's it gonna maybe even be a loss of half a yard on the play on the carry tackle by colin mclaren brought down by the senior number 15 colin mclaren and the junior owen brewer as the band parts ways with the field for the final time for those seniors final time for mr iturski once again congratulations enjoy retirement and great job never have anything bad to say about mr i turkey or any of his bands that he's had in previous years third down in nine eight ten remaining on
114the game clock doubles to the left side running back left send the motion man to the left webb gets oh that's a hold on losers contain but we're able to make the tackle bring up a fourth down and three and like you said i think wibbs got held on that play yeah that uh outside or that inside receiver there was lined up right over wibbs and um webbs is supposed to force it back inside and he tried to but uh he as he turned his body you could see that his jersey was being held a little bit but lucky enough to bring up a fourth down and five so looks like they're going to bring out their punt team and london little is going to drop back and receive this one with 7 30 left
115in this third quarter you could hear coach kendall yelling blue blue blue blue block jinx watch the football they will snap they will get the pun off and it will not go directly to london and he lets it fall i thought he was going to grab that one yeah kendall kendall's even on the sideline throwing his hands up in the air what are you doing go get the ball that's your favorite so i think that ball might have landed around the 35 and it's going to go out of bounds at the 24 where the eagles offense will take over columbia after the two minutes 18 second drive colin mclaren coming out with mcconaughey at running back see if we can find a score of that freeberg and salem game if you want to look it
116up gonna be a pass play for mclaren he's looking deep he's got london deep closeted with the catch london's gonna have to outrun a man oh look at him london little had about a two yard head start and it ended up at about five london little in for another columbia eagles touchdown on a beautiful ball by senior colin mclaren good for 76 yards it looked like that guy was going to catch him but london had an extra like he just has that extra like extra extra speed in him that he can just get away and he had two two yards that guy had with him and ended up beating him by like 10 yards so great throw there by mclaren to lead him lana didn't even have to stop or anything so great great lead
117by mclaren to lead him with that pass for a great 76-yard touchdown good snap good hold good kick one more that's good so that takes the score to the eagles 42 the oilers six we will head to a break and we will be back with the remainder of the third quarter after this 147 push-ups for the cheerleaders now as eagles take the 42-6 lead columbia trying to get to the 40-point lead where time will run at all times whibs kicks the t on that one it's going to be a short kick recovered at the 15. oh gonna get up the middle and he's going to be tackled at the 37. that all started on the kick being short and giving that return man an ability to come up and run and catch the football take
118over number 52 at vulture columbia's defense holding strong again once tonight once again tonight said that wrong east alton comes out doubles to the left side running back to the left tight end and sniffer back to the right shotgun snaps a little slow getting back there it's going to be recovered by the quarterback and hand it off to number 17 who's going to gain a yard i don't know how many plays over 10 yards east alton's had tonight but it can't be many well that touchdown that we gave up was could have been easily intercepted as it hit somebody right on top of the helmet but other than that i mean i can't i can't really think of a big play that they've they've really had but this defense has just been so on top
119of things they've everybody stayed home and um done what they're told so there's not really much to complain about on the defensive side of the ball second down and eight east salt not in any hurry to get the next play off they're gonna hand the ball off try to get the job schrader job schrader forces it back inside and it's good for seven maybe eight gonna be close to a first down and like you said good job schroeder brings up third down and two how hard is it for a linebacker like that yeah you have to shed a blocker that's coming at you and you gotta you gotta find the ball and it's hard to shed a blocker that's because it's usually a puller that's pulling to kick you out so to to shed a
120block like that and force everything back inside to even get a hand on on the guy with the ball um it's pretty special whenever you can have players that can do that and force other hats to come to the football motion man number 35 he's going to stretch it to the outside and he's going to be slung down by whis is that simple saying yeah it's that simple all you got to do is go two three yards up field and force him back inside and um he was a little slow on that one but he made up with it for grabbing the jersey and forcing him the two two three yard loss so i mean coach germain you i mean even whenever you were playing he's enforced it over his his whole time here so
121it's nice to see these linebackers come in each year and carry on the generation of forcing everything back inside so coach germain doesn't really have to have to enforce it as much anymore as the seniors can kind of teach it to the the younger classman and the younger classman can learn about it over time loss of three on the play brings up a fourth down and four going to be a swing to the outside going to be stepped by the eagles london little fighting off a stock block adam wiblemeyer is fighting off a stock block and a turnover on downs for the eagles that clock is still running right now nope nope it just stopped nope now it's running again i don't think it's supposed to be running yet not yet but it will be
122hopefully here soon there it goes it stops now looking down here at the sideline we always talk about howie and the stats guys you got howie and todd klask when sharkey giving hand signals to one another buddy standing right next to howie those three guys they don't miss too much and they've got it pretty much down to the yard and how we make sure that they get it to the yard doubles for the eagles running back is mcconaughey it's going to be a little sticker out and it's going to be incomplete [Applause] pruitt was the intended receiver he got lit up on the ribs there and that was going to be a tough one to hang on to yeah took a good look there and he just ran a pretty simple five to six yard
123hitch route and corner did a good job of not biting on a go route and stayed home and made a good hit stick on evan pruitt to make the ball fall to the ground and come up with a second and 10. little truck stick there mcconaughey a pistol back three down lineman two riders or two linebackers rather he's gonna win two men missed he's got to get up field he's a good block to train you train up there he's going to get the first down and get near red zone territory but a big gain for about 20 yards [Music] and good for columbia eagles first down [Music] yeah like you said earlier if we can get mcconauchey to put on some muscle and gain a little bit of weight get him running in between the
124guards and tackles that'd be something nice for columbia's offense because next year whenever you have a guy like dom vagley still back there running the offense and you can have a running back like mcconaughey who's got a year of varsity ball under his belt definitely gives you a little bit more experience back there and should have guys ready to go jacobus comes into the game at receiver we're going to hand the ball off jarvis number 36. i think there's that 30 is that jarvis is it on the carry number 35 two train comes off hildebrand comes on by number 14 spencer looking like some of the seniors that in there now we flip formations now we got schrader coming on still have jarvis and mclaren in the backfield second down and six balling the oilers
12516 yard line gonna hand the ball off to elijah and he's gonna get up the middle maybe did he fall forward by five yards yeah i look like it i thought he might have got a yard on the play but he runs full speed downhill yeah he hits that hole pretty quick once he gets that ball you can't really see him he's flying through that hole and that's what he did there and it did it looked like he didn't even like get touched he just dove like four yards and slid little comes off third down and one from the 12. two minutes 22 seconds remaining in the ball game columbia leads it 42-6 gonna hand the ball off and he's going to go up the middle once again tried to stutter step a little bit
126and i don't know if he got enough for the first down on that one he might have even just got back on the carry close to a first down tackle by number 17 and you know coach horner will probably wants that running clock right here so he's definitely gonna go for it here i can hear them y'all fourth and one all you need is a half a yard not even you need a just a little push from your front line to get a first down and then try to get in the end zone here for a running clock but it looks like columbia is going to burn a timeout here with the time out we will go to max cerese and dawson sukup for their senior night uh max reese number 34. i'm thankful for
127my parents for always supporting me and dealing with me in the house and off the field but they're always there to support me i'm dawson sukup number 75 and i'd like to thank god my mom and coach baker it's nice to see you got both nick and sam horner out there in the huddle we know that nick likes to give his input oh yeah as he's given his input you can see him giving some hand signals right now it looks like he's talking to schrader sam says i'm out sam's always been the quiet one that just kind of goes with it nick's right there on dad's left pocket so fourth and one what are you doing here uh i mean you got mcconaughey coming back at running back so it looks like we are just
128gonna run i mean you could come out in heavyset or you could just run a just straight straight run to the um run up the middle with mcconaughey it looks like they're going to come out in the heavyset with about a only a half yard to go so we'll see what we can get here as mclaren is going to get the snap he's going to turn around and hand the ball to mcconaughey he's going to get the first down going to get about two more yards after the first down to about the six yard line and the eagles are going to have a first and goal from the six salmon that time out there as we go down to the field with sam or on that timeout there you and nick both in the timeout
129is nick talking because you're always the quiet one and we always know nick likes to talk yeah he does you know he's he loves just being out here too so doing his best part to educate these kids out here helping him out um yeah he i think he's he's doing a great job i asked him if he wanted to speak today on here but i don't know he said no who knows all right that'll work easy enough as the ball to two train there falls incomplete mclaren comes out he's a starting quarterback as a senior weeks one and two and comes back out again here in week five what do you think about mclaren keeping his head down just going into the defensive side of the football now he's back to the offensive side as
130he's going to send schroeder in motion he's got a pistol back and jarvis doubles to the right side he's going to let the clock run hands the ball off to jarvis who full head of steam runs up the middle and he's got three what do you think of mclaren just keeping his head down and uh becoming the starting quarterback once again and doing well tonight i'll tell you what playing with him growing up you know in pjs he was always in my team and in high school kids the kid's a workhorse man he loves the game of football and i don't think it really matters where you put him out on the field you know he's going to play because he just loves this atmosphere he loves being out here but to be able to
131play on defense and play quarterback you know we don't we don't see that very often you know dom does a great job too but i think you know khan's a competitor out there and he's always got this this drive and this chip on his shoulder so it makes him that much better of a player jarvis in a running back you think they stop them on this run nope they're going to pass it they're going to go to the outside to 2 training he's wide open good for another columbia eagles touchdown i was expecting a run play on that for sure i think we all were yeah um i know i've been down here listening to this coaching staff and we're trying to get these guys in the end zone that don't touch the ball too
132often and so you don't see a guy like aaron two train who works his butt off every day um getting the ends i think it's real rewarding it's awesome to see these guys succeeding out here two train was a big defensive player for us last year as a cornerback didn't really see him at wide receivers we were loaded on the wide receiver side of the football as well and this year comes out and you would have fooled me if you said the guy's never played wide receiver before good snap good hold kick is up and it was good so columbia leads 49 to 6 with 37 seconds to go we will send it to a break and we will be back right after this [Applause] you are watching columbia eagles football live columbia high school
133and the athletic department would like to thank all of our sponsors for their generosity when going out more so than ever please consider shopping local and supporting the businesses that have supported us get ready eagles fans it's that time we've been waiting for it's eagle football time sends it deep returnable from the seven yard line for east alton they're gonna go up the middle good contain not gonna have anywhere to go keeps his feet moving though and gains about seven yards after contact where the oilers will take over from the 28-yard line columbia gets the return by number and i don't know if east alton will get a play off here so the final 12 minutes and 10 seconds am i gonna run are gonna go pretty quick here [Music] so that will do it
134for three quarters as the eagles lead it 49-6 we have four more seniors left the next two up for their senior night will be announced later in the fourth quarter and then finally the last two of the night as well columbia leads this one 49 6 like we said let us know where you're listening from we're having fun with it up here like we said earlier we're going to have some stuff planned for the uh for the future we're going to do some features we're going to have more camera angles next year we've got a little bit of a setup going up here we got some extra stuff that we're going to see so that first week we did this jared a little bit rougher but uh now we're good to go yeah i was
135a little nervous there in the beginning of the uh of the season but as time went on uh it got a little easier and it became a lot much better for us so oliver schroeder and bryce hildebrand it's your turn for senior night my name is oliver schroeder i'm number 22 and i'd love to thank my momo my grandma because she's always been by my side and always been rooting for me number three bryce hildebrand i'd like to thank my parents and all my teammates and friends for pushing me to two more to go for the senior night as we have 16 seniors this year and jared like you said nervous on the first one we got cameras we got lights we got action we didn't know what to really expect and uh and my
136legs were a little shaky because we were standing the first week too so now that we got these seats we're uh we're chilling up here 35 motion man he's running more yards in motion tonight than with the football pass and play it's going to be intended for number five and it's going to be dropped by number five defended on the play look like max therese 34 max cerese he was right there in the right spot looks like a lot of the starting the defense is uh starting to be done for the night as most of them are seniors so um i know their last home game i remember my last home game um it's not fun playing at home is something really special and especially in front of all your fans and it's just a
137different atmosphere every time you walk onto the columbia field hand the ball off up the middle and it's going to be stopped by the big uglies up front there's a bunch of them there for the eagles loading up in the middle look down coaches are starting to remove the head gear as our coach stump and coach baker up here in the press box kohlenberger off schrader off jason kaczynski on poultry off so need to get those seniors off the field 4-1 final time third down and 10. doubles to the right side running back right they're going to run it right to number 35 he's going to find one blocker to get behind he's going to gain six and bring up a manageable fourth down and four picks up six or seven yards on the play
138brings up a fourth down and five here and 62. we'll most likely go for it but kaczynski in on the tackle fourth down and four they're gonna have to go for it does the clock stop on change of possession i think so i think that's the only time it stops but i mean i guess we'll see here if columbia eagles defense can get a stop and force turnover on downs and get the ball back in the columbia eagles offense hands freebird currently leads salem 19-7 to start the second half low slow snap gonna be a pass to the left side they got a man open under thrown and he just makes a play and he's going to get near the end zone he's got one goal he's going to get drug out of bounds saved
139him he has complained to number five ryan dawson he's going to get down to the three he came from this opposite side corner and bryce hildebrand kind of went up for the ball and didn't really see it but the receiver was lucky enough to put his hand on the ground after he caught it and keep going but jacob has tracked him down right about the three yard line chain gang taking their time alfie's got to run down there get the ball set the marker set the other guys just go walk into the 25 and say yeah close enough we're just going to stop here running to the right side this time is number 35 and he's going to be stopped by number 75 for the eagles suit cup [Applause] back off tackle in the backfield
140by number 33 brennan weak and weak stepping up saigon in to clean up the play as well see if columbia defense second string can get a stop here and keep that number six on the board i had 49 to six no you had 42 to 6 9 49 no get out of here eight minutes remaining in the ball game eight seconds on the play clock send a man in motion gonna be a play action quarterback's gonna roll to the right he's got a man in the corner he's got a man for a touchdown east halton [Applause] touchdown oilers pass complete to brendan no [Applause] and the clock stops on scoring please now does it restart the clock yeah does it continue to start and stop all the time now or does it roll and clock
141because it's no longer a 40-point game i thought it was once it reaches 40 it's a rolling clock keeps going yeah i think [Applause] east alton for the two-point conversion send a man in motion they're gonna roll to the left side gonna do a little bit of a rutgers four in our book and it's gonna be good two-point conversion for east alton number one brennan to take the score conversion columbia 49 east 12 14 14. ralph it's your last game bud now we got it up on the scoreboard there we go now we got it right should be 14 though there we go now we got it right stoney on what could be his final game he's been doing it i believe he said since the 2009 season is what he thinks it was he
142used to be winners right yep it was mr winner john winters he had the perfect voice for it didn't he yeah he was here whenever his son brian was quarterback stoney took over after that and like coach horner had said there's guys that just show up and he doesn't even have to really worry if they're gonna be there or not stoney's got the voice and he's got the boys to be the spotters and clock managers for him so makes coach horner's life easy the chain gang same way four guys over there always dependable same way he doesn't know who's going to show up as long as there's four guys he doesn't care and there's always four guys here for him i also heard coach horner say before this game that a couple of these referees
143this is a crew that's that's coached a lot of uh or wrecked a lot of state championship games at the ihsa championship level so uh pretty pretty nice to see some of these referees out here um roughing this game but it's nice whenever what you have we got one two three four five reps out there so um it's nice to have i i ihsa is always full of great refs and um i know i couldn't be a referee i don't know about you but that's definitely a business that takes it takes the right person because um it's definitely a tough tough spot to be in whenever you have fans barking at you coaches barking at you players barking at you so um definitely got to give credit to a lot of these officials out here
144on every every night running clock 707 remaining columbia leads it 49-14 after this play we will go to peyton westfall and aaron two-train to round out our senior class for this evening dominic vaglion at quarterback going to take the hand off give it to jarvis he's going to go up the middle bulldoze his way through for about nine yards and this is westfall and 2 train what they have to say i'm peyton westfall i'm number 40 and i'm thankful for my family hi my name is aaron teutrain number two on columbia football team i'd just like to thank both my grandparents for being there for every single home game and that does it congratulations to the class of 2020 sticking through this goofy year 21 sorry the goofy year the goofy season you made the
145best of it and you're gonna get a win on your senior night second down in one for the eagles vaguely gets the quick snap he runs hard man as you can hear the fans they like it too they appreciate it they see it [Applause] fun you start thinking about a player of the game here i heard mclaren's name a lot tonight i don't know about you but on the defensive side of the ball mclaren and schroeder were two guys that were stepping up and making tackles forcing everything back inside which was a big key to the game tonight um forcing them to pass the ball and stop on the run which is what we've we've done tonight so we don't know i don't think a post game though i think we should go schrader oliver
146schrader okay first intent for the eagles in oilers territory i'll probably start getting set up here in a minute high snap handled by vaguely hand it off to jarvis who's going to gain four so like i said the 21 seniors are gonna leave a void you just hope that you leave the program the way better than whatever you got here and uh like i said the adversity that they had to face this year you're coming you're following a very successful season last year as well and uh losing a lot of seniors and these seniors step up had one returning senior on the offensive and defensive side of the ball so in that was london little so kyle jackson there too yep a lot of spots that were filled and done greatly motion man here is
147number 34. he's gonna take it in a cut-up field and he's gonna gain four yards and bring up a third down in [Applause] go one ryan morton it's great to see some of these guys that don't really get too much action it's great to see them get in the game and because every time that you look down here every every given night those guys that don't get much action they're always on the sideline they just love being a part of the team and love being a part of the game um so it's great to see them get in here and seeing london little and adam webermeyer and mclaren and all these guys cheering for them as um they're getting a little time to shine number 33 week is the sniffer back jarvis is gonna follow
148a week he's got a first down and he slips but not after he's gonna move the chains and give us a fresh set of downs with three minutes and 40 seconds to go in the ball game [Applause] j rods headed down to get oliver schroeder tonight's player of the game a quiet kid that we have said his name a ton this year stepping up as linebacker and that sniffer back [Applause] doubles for the eagles we sniffer back to the left side jarvis is the running back in pistol he's gonna go downhill try to cut it to the outside where he's gonna be bet by number five who lays the wood elijah's jarvis on the carry tackled by josh franklin number five gets up jarring a little bit after the big hit the official's still going
149over to him it's always a good thing whenever you don't talk about the officials as they've had control of the game all night tonight and as jared said getting into the state championship caliber officials they've done a great job charisse the motion man he's going to get the toss gets up the middle and he's going to get four yards brings up a third down in being a roll three yards on the plug kaczynski comes on 14 spencer and poultr comes off great career garrett poultry third down and four just under two minutes remaining in the ball game columbia fans showing up and staying tonight on the brisk evening hand the ball off up again to jarvis he's going to gain a yard they blew it dead before the fumble very close to a first down
150like just short fourth down and one fourth down and a we'll call it two first down and the game is over [Applause] like to thank you all for listening once again we're gonna have some cool things in the future as we hope i've had text all night tonight listening here listening there hope you're back again next year with us [Applause] vaguely on the handoff to jarvis he's gonna get it first down columbia elijah jarvis on the carry picked up and that should bring out the best formation in football [Music] [Applause] 30 seconds on the play clock 40 seconds on the game clock so we will have to take a snap to finish this thing out great camera work tonight watched a game we watched central and salem and their guy was zoomed in so close
151you couldn't see anything and then they zoom in even farther so great work columbia takes a need and that'll do it 49 installed wood river oilers 14. big round of applause for columbia eagles that'll do it for senior night as the eagles win it 49-14 they improve to five and no four in one rather after the week five victory jared's gonna get set up with schrader we will have a post-game interview with oliver [Applause] hahaha oliver you got me down there good game tonight good career you finally got into the end zone tonight we've said your name so many different times on the defensive side of the ball it's pretty cool to say your name on the offensive side of the ball as well [Music] farm for another rushing or were you excited when he
152said hey we're going to blast past this here [Music] good deal well congrats again on senior night good victory once again and uh you got one more and end your career on a high note well thank you enjoy tonight and enjoy the victory thank you [Applause] we're back here we're back here with the post game conference now you hear the eagles say blue pride and it's uh once once you say it that one time it's blue pride for life and seniors come off the field for that final time with a 49-14 victory that'll do it for us tonight there are a ton of people that make this production possible every friday night and that starts from administration mr reeves coach horner as the athletic director and it moves its way down and mr nickerson does
153a great job making sure this production on our end goes well he gets students to run the cameras me and jared up here in the booth he's got a whole system set up for us and wouldn't be possible without all these people chain gang we've mentioned them pa announcers stat guys howie buddy and sharkey we can't do it all without you we will see you all next season we won't have a broadcast of this caliber next week at alton marquette we are unable to make it to that game so we will be back next year hope that you're back with us the game will be streamed one way or another that will be on east alton's streaming devices for next week so that'll do it for us tonight columbia wins it 49-14 improves to 4-1
