002and gentlemen and welcome to the highly anticipated 2020 football season here at chs in a year of so much uncertainty we weren't sure if the season was going to happen but tonight it's finally here week one of the ihsa football season is finally underway and boy is it a perfect night for it out here tonight pretty nice night for it um coming in i didn't think we were gonna have a season this year but lucky enough we got everything going and we got guys out on the field getting ready for the game and we're here absolutely alex slummer along with jared germain as always in our third or fourth year doing this and this is a first for us we have never had cameras we have never had the production that we have but we're
003excited about this we've got cameras set up on the field we've got cameras up here we got a lot of good stuff coming at you this year and uh we're really excited to do it um some of us are a little bit more nervous than others but i think we're gonna get through this tonight i think mr nickerson's got us set up here and we're gonna have a good year together jared yeah i think we will uh i'm ready i'm ready to go it's eagle football i'm just ready football like we said didn't really know what was going on this year but we finally got to the season and uh we're gonna have a pretty good year we got a couple guys coming back in our roster this year we got some big name guys
004london little absolutely highlights that more so than anything else but we've got some guys coming back we've got some quarterback battles we'll talk about a little bit later on and we'll have to go through that kind of stuff and we'll see what goes on but we got i think 17 seniors this year um so yeah they come from skilled players big guys down in the hand in the grass too so um quarterback battle is going to be between dominic vaguely and kylan mclaren the south florida senior respectively probably should both get see some reps uh early on in the in the season one is a sophomore and one is a senior that is mclaren being the senior and vaguely being the sophomore but uh coming in i mean getting both reps i mean if you
005get them both reps in the beginning of the beginning of the season uh later on in the season you can see where that can lead you and see who's playing better and plug them in absolutely oliver's oliver schroeder he's going to be our one of the guys on defense linebackers that's going to have to step up for us as well as garrett poulter kyle jackson on the line mason kohlenberger grant matheny owen brewer just to name a couple guys and uh we've got some big linemen this year um but to go back to the skilled players on who to watch london i think is going to be our big guy that we need to watch this year yeah over the past what is he's a senior now so over the past three years he's been
006he's been a electric player one of the most electric players that columbia has ever seen probably a top top 10 columbia player that we've ever seen so without a doubt london little uh definitely makes makes coach horner's job a lot easier on the field so let's definitely look out for him it's going to be interesting how he's going to use him this year last year if you remember week one big 98-yard interception return for a touchdown that took him a scooter game that was 14 or 21-7 at the time and turned it into uh 28-7 and sealed the deal that game was a lot closer than you think but that he's just got that ability so uh it's gonna be fun to watch him this year we talked about coach horner he is entering his
00720th season this year as the head football coach and uh it's unreal 20 years he's the longest tenured coach that we have here at columbia and it's going to be fun to see what he's got going this year for him so yeah coach coach horner's always ready for football so if you speak to coach warner you know you know whatever uh foot there he is right there coach horner uh you know he's always ready for football season and he's always ready to get his guys out there on the field and ready to go absolutely you see on the film here giving everybody a fist bump you know it might only be a six week season but that doesn't matter he's going to be a great coach for the players and he's going to take as
008serious as he ever has his 20th season this year 141 wins 59 losses he is the winningest coach the longest ten year coach and his seven 705 winning percentage is second to the great jerry jermaine he's got 93 wins in the conference nine conference championships and i would say the majority of those are probably undefeated in the last decade yeah i would say so 14 playoffs appearances he's only missed four times and when he did miss him he was only off by i think a game or so 14 and five and season openers uh we'll talk about that a little bit last time he lost was when we played morton and that was a close game that i believe we lost real late in the game it was like a one possession it was i
009remember that game i think that was my sophomore year maybe my junior year i think it was my sophomore year though um morton was a great team but looking back at the season openers 14 and 5 that's a pretty good record because if you look at it the first and last games of the season are usually not a conference game so it's usually picking up a game like muscuda only i know we've played in the past some other teams like i can't even think of any other ones but there's been some big schools out there in the beginning of the season that you got to be ready to start off and get ready for your conference conference play absolutely we talked to coach herner a little bit ago and we're going to be talking about
010some skilled players when we interview him but who to watch this year who do you got on defense do you think you're going to want to watch uh jay mistler is a coach tremaine said jay mistler is going to be a guy that's really going to step up this year he's going to play a little bit linebacker play a little bit on the d line and also oliver schroeder who is also a big guy to watch for who's going to be playing corner so he'll be leading the secondary back there and running the defense talking a little bit more about offense too as you're watching here dual threat quarterbacks out of both of these guys they can both run they can both pass they can they're both smart they got to watch nick horner the
011last couple of years as ahead or as the starting quarterback got to learn a lot from him but both these guys like i said quick they can move both have strong arms can get the ball all around the field and it's going to be exciting to watch those two guys play so coach horner's interview that we talked about earlier asked him who he thought was going to be the big player who we should watch and we asked him as well how is he going to get ready for a season whenever he only had two weeks to go that's a big thing exactly you have a full season or a full preseason to get ready this year it's only two weeks though i got to have something good right off the bat we're going right into
012goal line offenses as we get done it's game on i need you to be great today all right everybody let's go [Music] be great today you hear me make him play nice got it we got a new system here we're not used to it yet oh we'll get there we're getting there though we'll get there pretty nice night though for some columbia eagle football what do you get what are your expectations for tonight we'll talk about them a little bit later as well but what do you think i'm thinking redbuds usually a team that likes to come in and run the ball and keep the ball out of columbia's hands because columbia's always got a couple athletes that can make plays at any time so i think if redbud can run the ball they might
013be a little bigger than us just looking down there on the field but i think it should be a very uh good battle and a physical one all right we are ready to send it over to coach horner's interview we're not ready to send it to coach warner's interview here in a minute we will band is making their way out to the field right now we got the cheerleaders out it's going to be a different year as far as how everything's going to be set up with all coved restrictions guidelines that we have to be placed this year limited capacity is one thing that we're gonna have to worry about this year and uh band gonna be separated from the stands usually they're sitting up with the students and everything up here in the stands
014so coach warner had these couple words to say before the game tonight coach warner welcome to your 20th season at chs head football coach in a year that's unlike any other how do you prepare for a season in two weeks compared to a full off season uh well fast and furious that's for sure uh just you know i think we do a lot of the same stuff that we've always done we just have to simplify things and uh you know you really you certainly don't have the same playbook that you have uh week one during the normal season but from an offensive standpoint point and try to get the a lot of the main stuff done that you that you need to get done and you know hope to god that the kids will put
015in some time in the off season to be in shape and you know defensively the same way you just condense it and and uh really got to be i think you got to be effective in practice that's the other thing that's really important so you know practices have got to be very regimented and you got to know what you're doing no dead time good to go and uh you think you got to that point this year as far as what do you expect you keep it all pretty simple this first game or do you got some some that we can see later on in the game or how do you do that well i mean i'm not going to give away too much stuff but you know yeah i mean we're going to stay relatively
016simple well i think especially with the fact that we only have two or three kids coming back both sides of the ball that have some experience can't give them too much to do or you know we want to be able to do a a small number of things well rather than a large number of things only okay so you know i think we'll be okay but we're going to have to stay simple in the first series to try to let the guys kind of get the uh get the nerves and everything out settle into the game and and you know kind of go from there so coming back to saying that you got a couple guys coming back this year uh big question mark nick horner was the quarterback for two years uh this year
017he got two guys and colin mclaren and dominic vaguely that could both be quarterbacks what do we expect are we platooning is it going to be one guy's mixed show or how are we going to handle that yeah i think i think they'll both see some action tonight without question um you know i think each one of them brings something a little bit different to the table and uh because of that you know certain things will require one guy to be in certain things are required that we've got to be in and you know if one guy gets hot maybe we stay with him so it's going to be kind of a feel thing for me uh tonight for sure on in that regard i appreciate it coach good luck in your season and let's
018have a good year appreciate it thank you thank you so that's the offensive side of the ball now we gotta talk defense what do you got for the defensive keys of the games if you talk to coach germain at all this week so uh speaking with coach ferman i see him quite a lot if you haven't if you haven't guessed that but um three keys to this week is first one is definitely swarm tackling the more more hats you get to the ball i mean the more the more damage your defense is going to do the more white hats you get to the ball you're going to you're going to make make a lot of plays i mean coach coach remains defense is usually always ready always ready to play always nose nose for the
019ball football so that's always a big thing another one is just having sound fundamentals just getting to the ball wrapping up form tackling and getting nobody hurt because that's that's a big thing also this year because we don't have a lot of bench guys this year i feel like so if we have a lot of injuries it's going to be tough to come back from that and then the last one is just bring the juice i mean it's the first game of the year you're playing in in the spring it's it's going to be a lot different but it's football so have fun with it bring the juice you got six weeks you got nothing to hold back i mean i don't know why you would hold anything back in a night like tonight you
020couldn't ask for better weather in april or march sorry you couldn't ask for anything better so the big question what's your prediction for tonight i'm going to go six eagles 34 six eagles how about 34 13. 34. all right i'll give i'll give them another touchdown late in the game well predictions are always tough you never know what to expect on the first night of the games i'm gonna go about 34-13 as well i think we're going to give up some touchdowns um you're going to expect it i think we're going to put some points up on the board though too i think we got a bunch of athletes out on the field and uh i think we're going to be able to get it done tonight we're seven minutes away from kickoff right now
021and uh i think we will be sending it over to break we will get ourselves set up we'll get ready for the ball game we'll send it over to the eagles the marching eagles rather mr i tour she's got everybody set up they'll sing the national anthem and we'll be ready for columbia eagles football we'll be back afterward with our sponsors [Music] bring us back to the anthem hey you got to focus on me you got to focus on me now more annalise there's your mom there's your dad welcome [Music] i would like you to ask you to please rise remove any headgear and put in place hand over your heart as we pay respect to this great country with the playing of the national anthem the colors are presented by columbia high's very own
022air force junior rotc the color guard is commanded by cadet major mia carrere other members of the color guard include cadet master sergeant chris craig airman gerhard feast and cadet air mayor minnie c appeal [Music] [Applause] [Music] so [Music] number eight thomas freeze number 12 parker van storn number 21 kayla harger for 30-36 big nixture number 35 break four number forty four fourteen evan hall for february gavin mcstill number 55 bryce edmond number three and number 74 mason all right let's play college here we go our officials tonight are jim calzon john allen todd bryant yes tennessee and david holder [Music] we're ready to rock for friday night lights and week one football jared i'm ready to go redbud won the toss they elected to defer which means colombia will be receiving tonight's opening kickoff
023just mere moments away uh looks like our deep men are going to be is that number 26 mcconaughey i believe 20 i can't 24 21 21 kyle mcconaughey in 2018 little london little wonderful job by the band as always singing the national anthem singing playing the national anthem mr hurst he's always got them ready to go and year in and year out winning awards at parades and everything and whenever they get to the football season basketball season they're the life of the party but you make a huge difference in the game that's for sure it's football season time ladies and gentlemen kick goes off recovered by london level at the 22 and he's got a seam to go on the left side and look at london go what about that other player look at london
024little go for a touchdown down eagles i could have could have called him from [Music] how can you not be happy with that what do you way to start off the eagle season and uh that might be something we got to get used to seeing this in this year yeah i'm going to see the ball in his hand this year and that's always a good thing adam edmeyer is going to be on for the p88 a long long number four to 14. colin mclaren as your holder snap good hold kick is up and it is good so colombia 12 seconds into the game goes up seven nothing we didn't even get to really do an intro to the game tonight well just looking back here at uh last season's stats we had london little had
025uh it looks like 35 catches for 624 yards which was seven pounds with that and then he had seven carries for 44 yards which was also a touchdown that adds on with his punt return yards that he probably has and his kick return yards that he's probably got so definitely get the ball in his hands and a lot of good things can happen as you saw right there absolutely well coach kendall's kickoff or kick return team did well we'll see what his kickoff team does well then we'll start talking about coach germain and his defense so coach kendall he's one for one let's see if we can get him to go two for two as adam wiblemire returns he did a little bit of kicking last year whenever sam horner was unable to and uh
026he always had a pretty good leg didn't yeah he can boom it he's got a strong leg he takes his 10 steps to the back two steps to the side as always as i made fun of every year every time last year don't understand it but it works so we'll go for it really filled up in here kick is deep and it's going to make it to about the 15 yard line where it will be returned by red but they're going to go right up the middle of the field going to try to cut back and he's going to be tackled by number three bryce hildebrand and number 21 kyle mcconaughey not bad getting the ball from the 14 yard line to the about the 31 so only a 17-yard return yep and like we
027said earlier uh coach germain's defense comes out on the field as uh he said earlier he said storm tackling is going to be one of the biggest things this season especially coming into the first game so the more white hats you can get to the football greater your defense will be absolutely looks like the eagles are going to have four man down three linebackers and a tight set for red bud they send a man in motion it's going to be a reverse pivot handoff to the right side where it's going to be number 35 for redbud he's a big old boy and he's going to be hard to tackle as we can see after that first play number 35 frank ford coming in at six foot 240. yeah it's a big band has redbud always
028run i formation because when i played in my senior year they were running spread but i guess i guess they're running a different offense this year i could i could see that whenever you got number 74 mason farrell coming in at 69 285 i think i'd keep it tight as well yeah so we're gonna go two tight ends one man split out one running back we're gonna have to another guy split out up top as well gonna be another run player to the left side this time he's gonna try to cut back and he's not gonna get anywhere maybe a gain of one and gonna be brought down by a bunch of eagles looks like number 75 led the way by dawson looks like we're playing a cover two with uh what is that three
029linebackers in the middle with four men down so they're going to be heavy on the run defense is definitely going to be ready for the run and uh red bud is always usually ready to run also so got to look out for the run but third down seven here look for a pass gonna be a different formation here looks like we're gonna have a tight end left two guys out split out left one running back one guy up to the far side of the field as well it is gonna be a pass played in from number six and it's gonna be picked by london little and i don't see anybody in front of london little he might get to the end zone zone he does diving into the end zone goes london for another touchdown
030who's going to signal it they gave it to him yep never saw a signal by either official but that's in for a touchdown he is on pace to have a huge year already absolutely he intercepted that about the 40-yard line i think and uh returns it in for another touchdown we haven't even seen the eagles up our offense on the field and we're up 13-0 with another extra point coming good start special teams good start defense now we've got to see the offense see what they can do whenever we get a chance out there on the field believe it's kyle jackson doing the long snap in this year as well as the center for the p-80 good snap good hold kick is up and it is good so that puts the eagles up 14-0 with
03110 minutes and 10 seconds remaining in the in the first quarter you can't ask for a better start you really can't no we cannot so now jared big question for you what are your keys to the game today my keys to the game uh so since we haven't um been playing a lot we only got what two weeks to get ready for this this season um conditioning is best definitely going to be one of the biggest things this season because uh you got to come into this game ready to go because you're running a lot and you haven't been in the football mood mindset lately um secondly you got to keep it clean no more penalties can't have any penalties that can that can hurt your team and everybody knows that can definitely hurt your
032team and um third one is just get after it i mean you only got six six games to play this season so come out on the field ready to play bring the juice as coach germaine said i think that's a that might be a good saying fees and bring the juice bring the juice adam weber back again gonna send it deep this one's a much better kick and it is going to land in the end zone 4 touchback which is what we were used to seeing last year out of him and sam will mark and they're picking up where they left off so redbud will start with the ball at the 20-yard line try it again went on they were after the 40-yard interception only gained two yards of offense that first drive looks like
033we got owen brewer at six one two fifteen i think that is suck up and mason kohlenberger at 6'4 265 with their hand in the grass gonna be another i formation for red bite here going to be a reverse pivot and it's going to be a hand off to the fullback and it's sniffed out right away by colin berlinberger leave and it's going to be a gain of nothing once again yeah there's some big big guys up there for columbia that's going to that's going to make a huge difference for the defense this season you got kohlenberger sue cup and it looks like poultry out there so those are three pretty big guys that can rough it up up in the middle we will be talking a lot about the front seven you've if you
034will with columbia this year but as your defensive backs you got london little dominic vaguely it looks like andrew malding and zach wetzel up top i can't i thought it looked like number one it might be two training two train yeah be your defensive backs red bud sends a man in motion they're gonna hand it off to the left side he's gonna cut back going to gain maybe a yard and then swarm tackling as coach germain wanted getting the play for about a game of one and as we as we talked about earlier we said red button is going to come in there you're usually a run run first team and as you can tell first couple plays here they're not gaining much on the run and their first pass they through went for six
035the other way so defense doing a pretty good job here of leaving red butt out of options third down in nine eight fifty clock is running um you look at the eagles in their blue uniforms with the white pants white hats red bud white jerseys maroon pants maroon helmets they're gonna be in shotgun for the first time tonight doubles to the right side two running backs in the backfield with the quarterback shotgun pass it's going to be a roll out to the right side he's going to throw it deep once again and there's going to be nobody home maybe a little miscommunication that's the eagles first three and out of the season class intended for caleb berger falls incomplete brings up looks like london little's gonna go back and get ready for this punt return
036as i would i would want to kick it away from him honestly honestly the first touches he has he's been to the house so i would if i was redbud i'd kick it away from 28. a lot of games like this you kind of pick somebody who you don't want to beat you i would say london would be that case right now and like you said you just don't kick to them it's a pretty simple game whenever you do that 10 seconds left play clock london's about 30 yards deep punt gets off they're going to punt it to the right side london will catch it and he is going to run with it from the 50. he's got the left side he's going to cut back to the midfield and look at this look at
037london go london going from left side to right side got got one to beat and he just gets tripped up at the five yard line but still an electric play setting up the eagles offense on the five yard line three touches almost three touchdowns how how about that all on different plays too that kid's unreal brings it down to the four yard line there's a nine yard line so this makes it easy for coach horner you're starting at the five yard line and you know who are you going to go with here you got a pretty big offensive line got the exciting london little and back in the day when you had a big line like like we do we would go heavy here and it looks like that's what we're going to come out
038in a little heavy set with a single receiver to the left side single receiver looks to be andrew maulding going to be unbalanced to the right side for the eagles number 11 meganson in their right in the backfield nope i'm sorry that's mcconaughey and he's going to get in for the touchdown number 21. not number 11. number 21 kyle mcconaughey on the right side for an eagles touchdown puts the eagles up 20 to nothing with 8 10 remaining in the first quarter i didn't even notice our eagle head in the middle when did we get that put in they got that put in about two or three weeks ago rebranding going on here in columbia we'll show you on the kickoff when we get to that high snap but brought down by colin mccarron mclaren
039and it is no good push to the left side and i think that was all off from the start when the snap went to the high right side of the talon snap's the most important thing as jared mentioned we have the new eagle head rebranding this year going on for columbia and you look at it there that was drawn just for columbia there's no eagle like that anywhere else and uh had that put in couple weeks ago would you look at that have some new fonts going on as well for the uh for the whole district so pretty soon all you're going to see is that eagle the new font you won't see one eagle for baseball one eagle for football one eagle for basketball and so on it's just all going to be one
040uniform look for columbia school district so columbia leads now 20 to nothing eight minutes nine seconds remaining in the first quarter yeah not even four minutes off the board yet and we're up three scores good start for the eagles river meyer approaches the kick and sends it deep on another beautiful kick that's gonna make its way about three yards deep into the end zone for another touchback so three kickoffs two touch backs i like how that scene sounds and starts that's a huge play in a close game whenever there's having a good kicker to get a touch back like that that is a that's a huge huge positive because if you get um a lot of these teams have a lot of athletes that they put back there and they get a lot of room
041to work and if they get a little open field they're gone so it's nice to put that uh put the ball in the end zone and just give them the ball in the 20. so redbud's going to come out they're going to stay in their eye formation with a tight end to the left fullback about a yard behind the quarterback it's going to be a handoff to the fullback he's going to get to the right side and he's going to gain about eight yards looks to be number 44 for redbud that's devon hall listed as 62 220 so that's a pretty pretty big guy running the ball there so you got to have hats to the football and make make make plays gonna bring up a second down and two for the redbud musketeers going
042to be a shotgun pushing this this time looks like the officials are going to be giving it to him for a first down red bud easton luck was a quarterback there on the run and he got enough for the first first down eastern luck played last year as a backup quarterback and uh didn't get too too much time in but was able to get in as quarterback had 104 yards rushing last year so he's got the ability on seven rushes he's got the ability to break one loose going to be tight end right i formation columbia's got four men down as lineman going to be hand off up the middle once again to the big fullback gets met at the line of scrimmage still gains four yards three yards after contact a lot of physical
043play going on out there up front those big linemen are going at it and they're just running the ball right down the middle and they're forced forcing me to step up and make tackles as a team garrett poulter in for the eagles on the tackle there like i said earlier you look at six nine 285 as your left tackle you like that out of a out of a run first offense going to be a tight end same formation once again going to be gonna be a pallade's going to be a roll out quarterback's going to get it out to their big fullback number 44. he's going to be brought down by london little who like you said nice tackle when you're out match that much better go low low i learned that myself a couple
044times it's not good to go high on those big guys it will not feel good you're not gonna win third down and five this time for the redbud musketeers who have one first down tonight these teams are set up set up at huddle they kill me i want to go split out doubles to the right side two running backs for redbud this time shotgun snap london is on the blitz he's chasing the quarterback down who gets rid of it in time but it is going to be out of bounds intended for number 12 parker vandoorne but was unable to complete the pass so we have fourth down and five another three and out forced by the eagles red butt on their own 35 yard line five minutes 26 seconds remaining in the first quarter that
045was a good pursuit there by london little he didn't have any wide receiver out here matched up on him at a corner so he just saw that there was no one there so i guess coach germain said go ahead and blitz that's what he did and he almost got the sack there but quarterback was lucky enough to throw the ball away and come up with a fourth down london going back deep once again he's about 30 yards about 32 yards deep gonna be a delay a game i was wondering if they're going to call it it took him a couple seconds to actually throw the flag there but delay game is going to move redbud back and that's where we said keep it clean columbia's kept it clean that's our first penalty of the game
046now brings about a fourth and ten for red butt as they look to punt this one away last year i believe it was that they switched the play clocks to 40 seconds after the play and then after a penalty gonna be 25 seconds so they will get the pun off going to be a short one and it will go out of bounds where the eagles will take over from their 43-yard line we are going to send it to a break real quick you can look at our sponsors and we will be right back with the eagles at the 43 yard line welcome back to columbia high school at the multi-purpose field where the eagles lead the redbud musketeers 20 to nothing with five minutes and 20 seconds remaining in the first quarter columbia offense is
047going to be led by clown clarin doubles to the right side running back to the right going to be a quick pass to london london's got a blocker in front of him he's got a first down and he's going to get a couple extra yards just a quick easy route for london to run on the ball and that's a play we've seen over the past 10 15 years that coach horner's been running just that little bubble route to the right side just get your athletes out in space and they'll make plays you've seen that with jordan holmes you've seen it with sam horner you've seen it with all the way back to brandon pryor and alex quinn you've seen you've seen those guys run these same routes that these guys are running today and it
048looks to be still working for coach horner and columbia doubles to the right side sniffer back right running back right first and ten for the eagles good snap going to be a hand off to mcconaughey who's gonna be hit a yard deep tries to spin out of it but couldn't get anywhere not what you want to see whenever you got three linemen in your backfield with you looked like big 74. mason farrell was in on that tackling he is a big guy if you look at him out there on the field he's got probably a head taller than each of our linemen and probably 15 20 more pounds in each of them to also so that's that definitely makes a huge difference on the offensive and defensive line it's left for the eagles this time
049running back right ball on the right hash gonna be london in the slot up to the top gonna be a pass play mclaren goes right up to the middle with two train just a quick now route once again again good for seven yards and brings up a manageable third and five complete mclaren with a good pass there over the middle he's been over the past couple years he's got gained more arm strength i've seen um early on in his career he wasn't able to really throw the ball down the field but he's worked on it his past couple years and it's definitely gotten a lot better doubles for the eagles looks like redbud's gonna have six in the box mclaren tries for the hard count get a little bit of a twitch out of redbuds
050line but doesn't get him the jump running back to the right side for mclaren it's gonna be a pass looking left it's just a quick hit trout and it's gonna be caught what a great route right there by andrew malding number 20 just to know where the sticks are and run seven yard route and get that extra yardage for the first down yeah that's really important there on third down to get the ball out of your hands also as mclaren kind of have a sometimes these quarterbacks and receivers have a little uh what is it a little sign that says hey i'm gonna be open on this play but there he he shut it down on the hitch right at the sticks and got the first down our first look at dominic vaguely as he
051comes in he's going to be running it to the right side he's going to step up the middle great blocking in front of him got a wall making the moves going up the middle carrying the pile that's going to be good for about a 20-yard gain first touch for dominic vaguely the sophomore coming in and doing what he does best making some plays as well yeah and that that could be a really difficult tandem to be on the defensive side when you got a running quarterback like vaguely and then mclaren who can sling it around a little bit and even vaguely can sling it around also so but it looks like there was a flag on that play and their eagles are walking backwards now we gotta try to figure out where we're gonna come
052back from they're coming back far on columbia i'm gonna say there was probably a holding penalty it's gonna be a loss of ten bring up a first down and twenty dominic vaguely still out on the field we're going to have trips to the right sniffer back right nobody up top to the dominate gonna be a quick pass to london little and he's going to be met right away coach horner's not happy with that somebody missed an assignment on that play i think yeah they were doing that same play they ran earlier with london little just getting them out in open space trying to gain some yards back after losing 10 of them on that holding play but redbud looked like their cornerback was out here and he just sat and sat in the flat and
053waited for london to get catch the ball and he met him right there right when he caught it two receivers going to the top two train and maulding we're gonna have little and wibbermeyer down to the bottom mcconaughey in the backfield vaguely as the quarterback takes the snap rolls out to the right throws it back to the left side penalty flag is thrown so we'll have to see what happens in mcconaughey running over a defender gonna be a flag on the play though that was thrown pretty quick as soon as the play was called most likely going to be a holding call when you see it that early on oh face mask on the defense i don't know i was early too yeah that was early early penalty call right whenever he snapped above the
054ball now they're saying it's a face mask on the defense how do you think it could be a illegal hands of the fake deal i don't know i mean it could be one of each as always ladies and gentlemen we encourage you to comment on the stream we'll keep everybody posted and zach daley saying let's go eagles zach daley i'm sorry bud but ohio state went down today oral roberts game yeah you won't be hearing much happy words from zach next couple days but no you will not the eagles get this win maybe we'll hear some happy words out of zach daley tripp's right mclaren back into the field into the game london little in motion it's going to be a jet sweep to the right he's going to have to make a play he
055makes one man miss he makes another man miss and it's quarterback right there down by the third guy to make it a third and 11. and absolutely the quarterback's favorite pass just toss it in the air about a yard i wonder how many yards nick horner and greg long gained over the past year or four or five years just tossing it up to your athletes tell them all right here's the ball go run go for it so that brings up third and 11 for columbia from the redbud 34. one minute 45 seconds remaining in the first quarter coming into the game now number three bryce hildebrand going to be the slot receiver to the trip's left side for mclaren running back to the left side he's going to roll left got a good seal on
056the edge he's going to throw it to adam willmeyer is going to catch it and be brought down instantly after a gain of six you go forward forward here i don't know whib's got a pretty good leg i think he can make the field goal at the 24. looks like they're going to go for it looks like vaguely is coming out on the field now at quarterback replacing mclaren for this fourth fourth five fourth and five from the eagles gonna be a handoff it's gonna be kept by dom gonna be a gain of nothing and it's gonna be a turnover on downs one of those tough plays there you're reading that defensive end do you care do you pull it off i didn't see what the defense did but that one guy might have went
057with her running back somebody stepped up into the hole and it could have been a good defensive play there by red bud props to our ball boy matt out there been doing it for however long i might have to ask him this week how you calling been doing it so redbud will take over from their own 29 yard line 45 seconds remaining in the first quarter single running back gonna be a handoff to the left side to big number 35 who's going to get back to the line of scrimmage but brought down by the first columbia eagle defender there frank look like traitor looks like number 22 oliver schrader you're right brought down by number 22 oliver that's always big that's always a big thing too when you're playing linebacker or defensive end whenever there's
058an outside run to force everything back inside to have your uh other defenders be able to come and make a play that's always been a thing that connect coaching has expressed forcing everything back inside so that's what um schrader did there and it did a really good job at it so with six seconds remaining in the first quarter redbud will let it run to the end of the quarter columbia after a quick kickoff return an interception and then one other touchdown takes the lead after the first quarter 20 to nothing we will be back with you after a short break welcome back ladies and gentlemen to week one of the ihsa football season where the columbia eagles are currently leading the redbud musketeers 20 to nothing uh jared we didn't really talk last year about
059last year's season coming off a 10-1 season 9-0 regular season uh we won the week 10 matchup against roxanna then we went up to fairbury prairie central and a close game last year ended up coming here just short 28 22 driving late in the game and uh i think it's going to be good with a lot of these guys some of them got to see some playing time last year i think that's going to be good you know seniors coming out and getting some of that experience yeah it's going to be a lot of spots to fill i mean we had ryan hornbustel who was leader in sax we had ronnie hunsaker who every time he touched the ball it was going to be something good uh kate napier will denny sam horner eli wagner
060nick horner the list goes on that was a good group that got that far and to see to see leave this uh leave this team but that just means next man up mentality and you got to step in and be ready to play red bud's going to be in shotgun doubles to the right side ball on the left hash running back left gonna be a snap to the quarterback who's throwing from his back foot and it's going to be picked by number 12 dominic vaguely he's got the right sideline he's got a couple yards he's got one man to beat and dominick vagley's going to get in for another eagles touchdown about a 35-yard return for dom there and that's another defensive touchdown for columbia you don't see it very often a quarterback getting a
061pick six no you don't i don't know if nick ever got a pic nick horner he he played a little safety he did greg played a little safe did you ever play any safety back there no why not i ran about a six four forty i was not playing safety oh alex so that puts the eagles up 26 nothing 11 50 to go in the first half going to be jackson with the snap mclaren with the hold adam weber once again with the kick last snap was high right this snap right down the middle kick would have been good we are going to have a false start on the eagles though looks like colin sagan is the one holding out there 14. colin saigon you're right colin and colin right on top of each other
062that's probably why yeah it's going to be a fall start on the eagles on the pat moving back five and they'll re-attempt this p-a-t so for the people that used to listen to us when we were at the quarterback club and we were just the audio we always talked about the pull that's in the middle that's always in the way as we get ready for another attempt at the p-80 here hopefully for another good snap high snap once again but it gets brought down and it is good so brings a high snap down and gets the kick off and we're good to go yeah like you were saying yeah like you were saying whenever this this we got this big thing here in the middle where i'm standing on the right side alex is on
063the left so i gotta i can see the whole left side of the field but i cannot see the right so i'm gonna be reporting i guess a little on the left side of the field and alex will do the right side well now we got this monitor behind us yeah that's also a little helpful you know i always wondered how the pros did but i'm being up so high i feel a little bit more professional this year jared yeah i guess they do have monitors up there in the nfl then do they they do yeah so like i said though when we'd go to i think probably got flat screen tvs honestly up there i feel like redbud was always real tough whenever we're up there because it's just nothing but one big opening
064and then once you get in the corner there's no windows to the sides can't see what's going on patty willis game doing a great job jared and alex thank you for listening and watching patty lily and patty coming in it's my grandma oh grandma paddy coming yeah thanks grandma for the support love it eagles now leading 27 nothing in the second quarter webermeyer sends it gonna be a high kickoff and it's gonna be caught at the five yard line where we're red bring it up to the left side and you're gonna try to cut it back to the middle but will be brought down by three eagles number 52 and number 33 number 52 garrett poultre and number 33 brennan weak number 55 bryce hammond bryce hammond i can't read the numbers 55 bryce hammond
065so redbud will take over from their own 24-yard line i have had a couple tests too don't come across but we've got listeners all over the place we got them out in south carolina currently all over in town so we appreciate everybody listening and coming in and watching the eagles football love the support red bud comes out center same formation with one tight end i formation gonna be a handoff to the right side number 35 i believe it is running hard bouncing off bodies gonna be a gain of about three it is number 35 for red bud frank ford that's six foot 240 pounder by number 88 you got a couple guys back there that are when they get the ball they're just putting their head down and running because they're bigger guys so they're
066not going to do much of the london little stuff the dancing and the spinning but um they're going to bring the juice yeah they are definitely second down in six after the four yard gain 11 minutes to go in the second quarter columbia leads 27 nothing redbuds single back they're going to hand it to the left side he's going to get about two yards on the play look like a little confusion there quarterback thought he's going to stay a little bit tighter than what he did on the carry by number 54 couple eagles there on the tackle too there's about four or five of them adam jackson or not adam jackson listen to me that's an old eagle kyle jackson uh got maulding in there but that's something coach tremaine talked about um hats to
067the football that's always been something he's expressed so seeing that is always a great thing thing for the mints one thing here too you hit run run run all the time defensive backs got to stay in the game brings up a third and four we'll call it watch the football look out for a hard count here out of red bud it's gonna be a slow developing play gonna be hand off to the right side with a lead blocker he's gonna get about two yards there's almost a full starter look like that was a very slow play looked like number 74 mason farrell was a pulling lineman and just missed the block if he would have made the block that would he had some space he had some space to run too he probably could have
068got to about 50 or on columbia's side fourth down and two for the eagle or for the musketeers rather once again watch the football that play though like you said it seemed like the linemen were taking off it was like slow quarterback was still under center looks like come out and never mind they're go it looked like they were lining up at uh like they were going for it but it looks like they're gonna punt away as london runs back oh look they are going to keep it they're going to run to the left side he's going to get the first down and he's still going as the punter kept the ball on the left side looks like maybe redbud's fighting for a late hit after he ran out of bounds after he gained about
06910 yards and that's going to be another first down for red bud it's one of those things you got to make something happen you're down 27 nothing you got nothing to lose yeah so i don't awareness play by the punter yeah i like the play call they call like we said easton was a uh backup last year and he was able to get on on seven he's 104 yards so he's got that ability he's pretty good average he's pretty quick right there he's been throwing a lot off his back foot and scrambling a lot but whenever he's running pretty good runner so it brings up first down and 10-4 redbud ball on their own 44-yard line columbia still got three men down look like we're going to bring two linebackers from this left side and
070we do it's going to be hand off to the left and almost brought down in the backfield and it's going to be a fumble on the play everybody's fighting for it it looked like an eagle could have taken the hand off there they were in the backfield absolutely look like redbuds gonna keep it nope nope columbia recovers their first turnover of the year okay at the end columbia takes over so columbia will start with great field position at the 45 yard line three three turnovers already for the eagles three takeaways yeah two picks and a fumble recovery can't ask for a better start with a zero on the board still that shutout still going so coach tremaine should be happy with his d the way his defense is playing in the season opener last year
071the eagles scored 43 points a game and gave up eight that's all season that's pretty tough on the offense takes the field trips right running back right gonna be a deep ball to the left side it's gonna float up in the air a little bit it's gonna be dropped by london little there's a lot of air under that ball i don't know if you threw it into the wind flag's not moving but that ball just looked like it floated there i guess they wanted to take a shot right off the bat to london little biggest playmaker on the on the field brings up second and ten mclaren in the game wibbelmeyer comes off yeah when you look at the personnel you got some speedy guys out there for columbia too you got london you got
072uh vaguely even mcconaughey's a quick one too gonna be a handoff to the left side too mcconaughey he's gonna make one man miss on a nice juke move he's gonna make two guys miss he's got the left sideline he's gone got london with him he's got himself a columbia eagles touchdown kyle mcconaughey two nice hesitations there on the linebacker and then later on the safety looks like there is a flag on the play though holding on the offense block in the back or is it a block in the back [Music] push him back now the aggravating thing on that kind of play it happened at the 32 yard line yeah it's not even in the play anymore so they will nullify the touchdown and bring it back gonna be a 10-yard penalty i didn't really
073see what happened really be a 10-yard penalty to bring up a second down in one 850 remaining in the second quarter columbia up 27-0 colin mclaren as your quarterback number 88 jay mistler comes in as your sniffer back to the left side running back to the left side ball in the left hash freeberg's got six guys in the box gonna be another quick handoff to number 21 kyle mcconaughey who's got the right side he's got to make one man miss and he doesn't make a mess gets brought down but not after a 20-yard game picks up 15-20 yards first down eagles tackle by number first down columbia to the 16 yard line and it looks to be a shaken up red bud musketeer can't see a number i don't know if it's cramps he's just
074sitting on his butt right now so coach runs out there check on him looks like trainer james sepage is going to go out there and check on on him as well so we will send it to a break we will be back columbia leads this game 27 nothing with eight minutes and 38 seconds remaining in the second quarter um welcome back second quarter action columbia after the big run by kyle mcconaughey for about 20 yards gets it down to the 16-yard line where they're looking for another touchdown to go up by 30. it's going to be a botched handoff it's going to be picked up by mclaren who's going to try to make something happen still on his feet still spinning around and finally going to be thrown to the ground by number 74. make
075something out of nothing i guess turned a loss of two into a gain of about three or four so that's pretty nice there for colin mclaren to you don't see him running very much but when he does he'll put his shoulder down he'll hit you a little bit so be ready look out for that this season schroeder and mistler come off two train and mauldin come on ball on the right hash trips left running back left mulding up by himself up top going to be a pass to the left going to be caught by webemeier he's going to be hit right away going to be a miss block by 2 train number 8 before redbud there just wrapped up right away and didn't let anything happen after that thomas freeze with the tackle and that's
076something that's big that coach horner always expresses big too whenever you're throwing those little uh now routes and bubble routes that receiver's out there by himself so you got to be good at stock blocking you got to go out to your corner and shuffle down your feet pitter patter them and break down and be ready to make a block for your receiver that's coming behind you sniffer back to the right side doubles to the left running back left gonna be a fake hand off bootleg to the right mclaren's got a man in his face he's got to make a miss he does make a miss now he's got to scramble and make something happen he's going to get rid of it throw it to the back of the end zone it's going to be caught
077for a columbia eagle touchdown looks like number 20 andrew maulding in the back of the end zone nice play there by mclaren to keep the play alive got a two defensive lineman were in the backfield there as mclaren rolled out to his right he had two or three receivers just with their hands straight up in the air waiting for the ball in the end zone and mclaren threw it to mauldin as he had he had london open and he also had wivenmeier open in the back corner but good pass there to score another eagles touchdown that puts the eagles up 33-0 6 minutes 40 seconds remaining in the first quarter high snap again but it's brought down and it's kicked and it is good however a flag was thrown at the top of the field
078what are they going to call offsides on the defense penalty will be declined so that puts the eagles up let's be four or nothing yeah well there's my prediction i got the 34 and the cheerleaders starting on their 34 push-ups they've been doing that for a long time haven't they we got to try to figure out how we can do the math on this and how many push-ups they've already done in the first half do some quick math here for you folks looking around the around the stadium here we see a couple previous players you see eli wagner's walking up the middle aisle now saw ryan hornbassel earlier i got some text from sam horner and nick horner saying give me a shout out so shout out to all the guys that were here a
079year ago and out here playing on this field pass the torch to these younger guys that can make it happen in this new season that is one cool thing you get a bunch of guys we're both former players and uh you always get a bunch of guys coming back to the games you already see them lined up along the fence coming up giving us some trouble while we're up here they're out at the game or on the field after the game and it's kind of neat that everybody comes back and still wants to be a part of everything and it's always that atmosphere of of just columbia football i mean every year it's it's something special so it's always something to look forward to libermeyer sends it deep once again another high kick floating in
080the air gonna be caught at the third at the five yard line they're going to run it to the left side looks like that is number six for red bud who lays the wood at the end of the play easton luck mars get goes 55 yards i don't know who the eagle was over there but they got ran over and lost 15 yard return brings up first and then and after some quick math we carried the one brought the two over and the cheerleaders are currently at 102 push-ups who taught you that ms longroff i had miss longroff mrs steve you know a lot of great math teachers columbia high school redbud will take over 34-0 6 minutes 33 seconds remaining in the first half columbia gonna have five four men on the line of
081scrimmage three linebackers dominic vegley creeping up as well another slow starting play gonna be a roll out to the right going to be caught by number 44 and it's going to be tackled by number 20 andrew maldon you get 44 out in open space he's yeah he's a big boy and he'll lay the wood he just put his head down there on maulding ran right through him got the first down good play there for red bud devon hall pretty good athletic play by throw being behind him devin comes in at 220 and just got brought down by the 160 pound andrew malding so grab on and hang on for the ride did a great job of it great job andrew coming up from the safety position as well high formation four redbud tight end to
082the right side gonna be handed off right away at the line and almost handed off to the columbia defense aligned on the play and we got one two three four five eagles getting off their running back there so uh swarm tackling like we said cody because charmaine loves it yard on the fly brought down by a flock of eagles nothing like a flock of eagles comes coming ralph stone over in the pa announcing booth that's when you don't know who makes the tackle you just give it to everybody howie napped down doing stats once again and i'm sure he got the tackle down there that man i sent him an email about some stats this week and got it for you 20 minutes yep he has some great stats we might have to talk to
083him this year doubles for the redbud musketeers to the left side or to the right side i'm sorry is the running back going to be a hand run by the quarterback doesn't get anything at first has to go to the left and he's going to be brought down by number 28 london little great open field tackle london kind of set the edge there he was playing corner on the far side of the field play kind of broke down quarterback took off to the left and london forced it back inside and made a big play force a third down so that brings up third down and 11 from the red bud 34 yard line coach germain's got to be happy with his defense right now at the start no hat backwards yet though no hat backwards
084i didn't even see did he have it on backwards for pre-game no no it's been forward this whole time wow that's a first it is sniffer back right doubles to the right side single running back it's going to be a straight drop back throwing off the back foot once again it's going to be caught by devon hall up the middle of the field good for a 16 yard completion before being brought down number 52 garrett that's something you're running madden right there third and long you got one safety got a tight end on each side and two receivers they just ran four verticals so that that forces that safety to make a make a choice if he wants to go with one of the tight ends or if he wants to play in the middle
085of the field and running back running back runs straight up the middle ran a vertical and caught a pass for a good first down for redbud you can hear the band chanting over to the right side they are always in it whether it's basketball or football they do a great job first and 10 from the 50 for red bud doubles to the right side they're going to fake the pitch it's going to be a handoff and it's not going to go anywhere once again seven eagles on the tackle right forward on the carry can't see who started it look like maulding was in there big shout out to aidan seppich too i see him working hard down there all the time down there water boy yep keeping everybody fresh i know he loves being down
086there with all the guys brings up a second down in 11 310 remaining in the first half columbia leads 34 nothing in the first week of the 2020 season doubles to the left side going to be a pass by the quarterback who's throwing off his back foot again and it's going to be picked by andrew molding who tries to get up and run but you can't do that in high school football but that's another turnover for the eagles defense that makes it what four now three picks and uh fumble recovery brings up first so columbia will start at the musketeers 49 yard line one more touchdown and we will have a running clock in the second half you get to a 40 point lead running clock for the entirety of the second half coach horner's
087usually got that in mind also yup cali mclaren comes in as quarterback maulding was split out wide they're gonna send him in as a tight end sniffer back to the right two running backs in the backfield gonna take the snap gonna hand it off to kyle oh no colin's gonna keep it i thought he gave it to mcconaughey but he pulled it got to the line of scrimmage and no more after that good fake there by mclaren no gain on the play tackle i thought i thought mcconaughey and that's something that coach horner also also expresses early on in the season um whenever you're doing play action if you're gonna keep the ball or hand it off to your running back put it in the put the ball in your running backs belly and pull
088it if you're going to keep it because you've seen a lot of fumbles and mishaps with the running back over the past couple years well over over all of time so it's important to get the ball in your running back's belly and firm the clamp down on it so no turnovers take place it's on the play clock and coach warner has to call a timeout i don't know if he couldn't get what he wanted if the players couldn't get what they wanted but regardless columbia takes their first time out columbia leads it currently 34-0 in two minutes and five seconds remaining in the first half we will be back after this break welcome back week one action columbia eagles and the red bud musketeers alex schlemmer and jared germain with you tonight columbia currently leads
089it 34-0 getting ready just before half time where we'll have the marching eagles performing at halftime not going to be on the field like usual but we'll be down in the end zone getting their routine in we're going to send a man in motion's going to be little handoff up the middle is mcconaughey he's going to try to make one man miss and he gets brought down looked like he almost got out of it but just had his leg only going to be a gain of two to bring down a third and eight rounds sending london in motion there also puts a lot of pressure on red buds defense because when you got to shift your defense a little bit move a guy out with him if i mean if you even want to go
090man-to-man on london which that's a tough that's a tough match up there but sending london in motion can make a lot of mishap on the defense missler comes out weber comes in he's going to be at the top of the field trips right mclaren is going to drop back he's going to step up into the pocket great pocket by the offensive lineman he's going to scramble the right side throw it down the middle of the field and it's going to be high pointed and caught by number 28 london little great job fighting for the football there by london little [Applause] wow talk about high point in the football there he went up and got that so that brings up a first down after about a yeah we'll call it 25 yard gain some of these
091passes you're seeing from mclaren you're just like he's throwing him up there and he's like go get it go get is that my athletes one minute 10 seconds and counting ball at the 24 yard line mclaren takes a stamp throws it to the right side where he's got mauldin who's going to catch it move try to make a man miss and he's going to be brought down by two musketeers good for a nine yard gain 52 seconds remaining where columbia will call a timeout at halftime like i said ladies and gentlemen we will have the band playing we will go over our senior spotlight we'll revisit some of our plays scoring plays and we will have the coaches corner which is going to be something new that we do this year going to highlight all
092the coaches i believe we got six coaches on the staff this year and i think this week we go over with coach horner we do coach warner in week one sounds good to me like you said columbia gets into the end zone one more time we will have a running clock [Music] for the second half one thing i've noticed too coach kendall is usually the get back coach he's pushing everybody off the white telling everybody get out of the way so we don't get a penalty this year he's the spread apart coach players players need to be be socially distanced and they're doing a pretty good job of it actually they might bunch up here and there but for the most part they're staying apart from one another and wasn't sure how that was going
093to work but they're doing a good job they don't have to stay within the 25 yard lines like a typical year they're allowing extra extra room to keep their distance i did not know that so second down and one for the eagles doubles running back to the left mclaren is quarterback he's gonna step out back into the corner of the end zone he's got london little open he's got london little for an eagles touchdown on a beautifully placed ball by colin mclaren and a great catch by london little that's a ball i like to see he didn't leave that one up in the air put a little more um under it met london in the back corner of the end zone and a great corner out there by london little to get his third touchdown
094of the game i'm not saying it now but it looks like we might have an early player of the game i think they're i think that could be uh you could have a case for that we will have a player interview another new thing this year's broadcast whipping meyer on to for the p-80 snap good hold a little low looks like it slipped out of the holder's hands but kick is up and good as the eagles take a 41-0 lead with 45 seconds here in the first half and looking good here for the eagles early on absolutely we had a couple panel penalties there in that we've been pretty clean i think we've brought the juice and uh i like what i see in this first half the unfortunate thing you only have the six
095the six games this year so um you just wish you could have a full nine nine weeks with this i mean especially with playoffs yeah but we'll take the six games we're not going to complain too much there so if we add another 41 push-ups to the 102 that have already been done we're up to 143 push-ups for the cheerleaders yeah same not even halftime yet yeah i don't think i've done 143 push-ups in the last two years 45 seconds remaining in the first half we've just had one kickoff go to the 15 and two or three touchbacks and then had two or three stopping at the five yard line like i said we look at the flags we don't see them moving but everything that happens to our left side what we would call
096the wilderness seems to be just floating up in the air [Music] with meyer on here to send the kick off away to redbud it's another booming kick looks like it's gonna travel yep right at the goal line he catches it about a yard deep in the end zone that'll be a touch back red butt will get the ball in the 20-yard line you know just as i say that it looks like it's floating in the air he kicks it to the end zone makes a lot out of me so redbud comes out once again looking at some of their other linemen number 55 is bryce aymond 6'5 260. i think redbuds got us out outsized on the line i was always outsized on the thing too they always put me a little taller and way
097more a little bit redbud got trips to the right side going to be a pass out of the quarterback who's scrambling right off the bat he's getting chased down he's going to throw it to number 35 as a flag penalty on the play number 35 is going to keep making something out of nothing he's going to gain about eight yards however it will come back with the holding penalty was that straighter that was in pursuit on that sack there i think so it looked like number 22 yeah on the field looks like it's gonna be a holding on red bud it's gonna push him back so that play does not count i don't know if schroeder was on a blitz or if he just saw pass and his responsibility was go and sometimes whenever they
098whenever they run options sometimes there's assignments for linebackers to take the running back and for somebody else to take the the quarterback so maybe there was a little assignment there but good job by schroeder to put pressure on the quarterback so with the holding penalty oh yeah that's half the distance of the goal in it whenever it's this far back i didn't know you could go half the distance from backwards i thought i thought it was forwards huh well they were on 21 now they're on the about the nine yard line looks like so we'll call it first down in 21 for the musketeer send a man in motion from right to left gonna hand the ball off go right up the middle for about a gain of four look like devin hall on the
099carry once again and brought down by a bunch of eagles who we got getting up here last schrader and number 63 grant anthony for the tackle it looks like red bud's just going to let this one run to the half as the eagles are going to go into halftime with a 41-0 lead and you can't really i know i said it earlier but you can't really ask for a better start to a season um with a 41-0 lead and i mean we had two touchdowns before our offense even stepped on the field so that's something coach horner is going to love to see from his squad so that takes us to halftime columbia leading 41-0 we will send it to break and we will come back with the marching eagles once we come back [Music]
100[Applause] [Music] so [Music] [Applause] [Music] ready [Music] wow [Music] foreign [Music] okay ready [Music] so [Applause] [Music] uh [Music] so [Music] [Applause] [Music] so [Applause] [Music] do [Music] thank you [Music] two ready four [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] do [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] what else we got yeah here we go [Music] ready [Music] [Applause] [Music] uh [Music] huh [Music] oh [Music] [Applause] [Music] so [Music] so [Music] [Applause] [Music] my [Music] [Applause] hey all right everybody up i don't care what you are getting up one two three go [Music] uh right welcome back to columbia ladies and gentlemen where the eagles have a 41-0 lead over the redbud musketeers about six minutes left to go in the halftime show you're just listening to the eagles marching band like we said earlier always a great job new
101segment we're doing this year the senior spotlight this year we were like we said we had about 17 seniors our first senior that we are going to introduce easton andrews easton's a senior this year been playing football for four years his team goals he wants to go undefeated and grow a strong bond together personal goals he wants to try to become a better football player and a better person as long as keep his quarterback untouched as much as possible as much as he possibly can after high school he plans on going to rankin for mechanics and do some things related with the cars his hobbies include cars sports hunting hanging out with his buddies his prep before the game he likes to watch the tendencies of the people he will be up going against and
102think of a ways that he can beat them superstitions before game day i like this one never check the weather it'll be bad and right after school he likes to try and try to calm himself down and have quiet time where he is better his favorite memory came from his junior year at jv where he blocked a punt and scored a touchdown against waterloo and that's our first senior of the year easton andrews second one colin mclaren colin's been playing four years at chs 10 years all together with the blue jays as well as team goals he wants to go 6-0 play well and stay healthy his personal goals goals be as efficient as possible on the field and have offense success and score touchdowns i like that out of your quarterback plans after high
103school is majoring in nursing at slue studying to becoming a nurse anesthetist i don't know that's a tough word i struggle with that one hobbies include playing basketball frisbee he's prep before a game weakest points on the defense to attack from the offensive point of view look at tendencies and teams on the defense and in their coverages his superstitions listen to music and stretch some way before every game his favorite memory at chs is going undefeated on the regular season last year as a junior that is colin mclaren next is kyle jackson this year's center he's been playing football for 14 years started at the j or at the blue jay level he wants to stick together and finish strong and he wants to finish strong and hit hard plans after school is to go
104to work in construction big kyle really enjoys going hunting and fishing that's anytime you talk to him he's going to talk about going hunting prep before again he likes to go and see who he's going to go up against and his superstitions treat it as a normal day until they walk through the gates doesn't like to get himself too pumped up before a game his favorite memory was finishing strong with lifelong friends who i started playing football with that is kyle jackson our last senior for the evening is peyton westfall he's a senior and been playing football for four years he wants to go undefeated and have fun together and he wants to get back this year because of a leg injury that he sustained before he wants to get a bunch of as many
105tackles as he can after high school he's going to go to siue to obtain a bachelor's degree degree in education his hobbies include hanging out with the boys and watching tv his prep before the game study as well as look at who i'm going up against superstitions red bone and prey is that red bone and prey i guess so yeah i'm not sure and his favorite memory is going undefeated last year so that is this year's or this week's four seniors going over to the coaches corner where you're going to feature coach horner whose coaching career started in red but not too many people know that started back in 1994 before making the switch to columbia while he was at red bud coaching football he was also the track coach came to columbia where he
106started coaching football in 1996 to today he was also a track coach back then at columbia and he became the head coach with coach germain in 2001 and those two have been together like we said earlier for 20 years now and he's coached for 28 total years his coaching duties he is the head coach the offensive coordinator and the defensive backs coach if anybody knows him from his high school days he was a great athlete he is now the athletic director and that began back in 2019 he teaches pe his hobbies include hunting and fishing once again he talks about hunting all the time playing and watching his kids with sports he enjoys watching how to exploit the secondary and get the kids and his athletes the ball in space defensive fronts and techniques and
107how we use the formation to gain an advantage his superstitions doesn't really have any he enjoys the 30 minutes in the coach's office before games sharing stories and cracking jokes to help the nerves and the stories that they have told there is a lot of jokes and a lot of nerves that are cracked his favorite win was a 2007 semi-final versus greenville which they won on a blocked p-a-t late in the game and in 2001 he went 12-6 with a victory over central favorite thing about coaching relationships of the kids leaving new football trends every year and his relationships that he has with his players still hold strong too today so that is this year's or this week's rather coaching corner and senior spotlight jared we come back to you now what were your three
108keys and do you think that they were uh accomplished in the first half so uh one of them was to keep it clean we've only had we've only seen a couple penalties i think two or three penalties that have not really caused uh much yardage on us but i think uh i think we'll be fine here in the second half we clean up a little bit secondly the conditioning looks fine it looks like everybody's seems to be we haven't really had any cramps no injuries so it looks like everybody's been been pretty up to date with their conditioning and then the third one is get after it and all you got to do is really look at the scoreboard for that one i mean that pretty much tells it for itself we had three touchdowns
109in the first five six minutes of the game we had a kick return right off the bat we had pick six before our offense even stepped on the field so i think they're getting after it tonight which is definitely good for the coaches to see and uh fun for the fans to watch absolutely once again we'd like to thank everybody for tuning in tonight uh we've had a bunch of comments coming in we've had some texts jared's phones lighting up i don't know who's texting them we're not going to talk owen sue camp sam horner i got all types of guys they're saying give me a shout out zach can work got a bunch of old columbia football players that still listen to today and it's it's nice to see those names pop up on
110my phone all the time whenever they uh know it's eagle football time will meyer sends it deep gonna be caught at the 12-yard line return man had a full head of steam whenever he caught it he brought it back to the 30. and we will have a running clock now with the 40 point advantage so the second half will go pretty quick we'd like to thank everybody like i said for watching we'd like to thank all of our sponsors this year as well and we encourage all of our fans in a year as tough as we had last year please uh go to our sponsors and support the local businesses as they have supported us in this year going to be an i formation for redbud looked like a fullback might have been to the
111right side and it's going to be a run to the right number 35 with the carry with the lead block of devin hall number 35 on the carry was frank ford dominic can bring up a second down and eight from the 34-yard line i like the fact dom's playing safety safety there and he still comes up makes that tackle you like whenever your safeties are on in the ollies like that yeah that's something coach tremaine has always said on his that's big on his defense if your safeties in your cornerbacks can make tackles come up and make plays that can make a huge difference in your defense second down and eight for redbud three men down for the defensive lineman look to be a linebacker looking like they're going to blitz and they will dominic's
112going to come up and he's going to pick up a fumble and i believe it will be recovered by the eagles it looked like it was hopping around and it will be recovered by columbia columbia look like they're running a little counter run there and number maybe just a mishap on the on the handoff covered by the eagles dom was there for the recovery but instead kyxin said outside i'll take that kyle jackson with the senior fumble recovery it looks like dominic vaguely will be our quarterback for this drive his 2 train comes off and number 62 for columbia comes off the field as well jason kaczynski and now he's coming back on i know he's coming back on going in at the guard position got a lot of confusion on where people are lining
113up coach horner's gonna have to burn a timeout here not gonna be too happy because he at halftime you know he probably had this all set up who's gonna be playing at the line who's who's where so coach horner is not gonna be happy here as uh they call a timeout with 1008 left in this third quarter looks like coach baker and coach stumpf have gone down to the sideline there the coaches up top this year coach baker lineman coach along with amsterdam coach champs and yep so now coaching seth this year we have coach horner coach jermaine coach amsden coach baker kendall coach kendall and coach stump james sepich is the trainer once again howie nap doing stats looks like we got running the ball duties i think buddies anderson's down there as well
114doing the stats buddy yep standing right there next to uh and then aiden doing the water boy sharky on pictures and stats and t nick behind all this with a great setup from him thank you sir doubles to the right side for the eagles sniffer back left now they move him to the right running back goes to the right going to be a hand off and he's going to go up the middle going to be hit at about two yards after a gain look like jeremiah beutemann hit pretty much the running back there brings up a second down in nine say goodbye frank ford i believe bieleman's a sophomore this year or is he a junior it doesn't say oh they don't say on here we'll have it for you next week double the right
115side sniffer back right quick pass play out to the right side you're going to be out of the reach of number 14 kylan saigon just look like dom's in a little bit of a hurry there and falls incomplete third down at nine i think he's a sophomore if i had to guess i think so too i don't built him in third down in nine nine minutes to go in the third quarter columbia leads redbud musketeers 41-0 gonna be a hand-off this time to butterman he's gonna run right he's gonna follow a lead block and he's gonna get grabbed by number 35 and brought down flag on the play penalty flag on the play looks like the ref's gonna signal holding don't retaliate holding is the call on the play holding 8 53 remaining in the
116game now it's going to bring up a third down and very long you don't like seeing this you'd rather him come out and punch another one in right off the bat get this clock to keep running trips right bunch single receiver looks to be molding up to the top giltman goes to the left side of dominic vaguely now we got too many guys online on scrimmage now we got it set up right now we're good to go good snap going to be caught by dominic vaguely he's going to look to his right side he's going to scramble to the right side and he's got number 14 colin sagan makes a man miss and he gets that miss and gets to a columbia eagles first down at the 14 yard line good second effort there yeah
117caught a little outro ran ran over to the sideline didn't really look like he was going to make it corner had a good pursuit on him but made a good cut to his left and tackled right after he made the first down i like the quarterbacks this year being able to move around and uh extend plays into something into nothing seven minutes 50 seconds remaining in the third quarter columbia has a first and ten from the 14 yard line trips right into the boundary gonna be a handoff nope gonna be kept by dominic bailey who's gonna go up the middle makes two men miss and he's brought down by two guys at about the six for a gain of eight good patience by dom on that player picked up nine yards on the floor and
118that's something you could tell from last year he got a little bit of playing time i know he didn't play any quarterback but um played a little bit on the defensive side of the ball and he's got a lot of patience for just being a freshman last year and now he's a sophomore but he's got a young a lot of patience for being a young kid like he is same formation gonna be a pass to the right side to colin saigon he's gonna catch use his blocker make one man miss get up to the two yard line she got the first down and goal for the eagles three yards on the flag first down at the two yard line that play is so hard to guard whenever you have a linebacker that's not playing over
119the slot and if if you have a good stock block out there by your outside receiver that could be a touchdown all day same formation again first and goal from the two yard line for the eagles leading the musketeers 41 nothing going to be hand off the beautiful man he's going to go up the middle touchdown for a columbia eagles touchdown [Applause] [Music] that a new horn this year too it is a new horn that is brought to you by a couple of the parents um set up on in the uh stadium here and that sucker's loud when we're in here i can't imagine what it's like out there so what do we got here we got new turf all the way around the field new logo same jerseys i think right and and helmets
120our white helmets different we had the white helmets good snap good hold kick is up and it is pushed to the left side our broadcast is different six minutes 35 seconds remaining in the third quarter this year's broadcast brought to you because of the covert restrictions the limited capacity the amount of people that are watching at home and hopefully this is something that even next year if we are back to normal we'll be able to keep it going and uh i think we could have a lot of fun with something like this we love doing it that's for sure i love doing it so we will add to our cheerleader push-up tally i gotta find my notes what were we at last time like 143. you just got to add six to your next yeah
121we now add we got 47.47 to that so we were at 143 carry the one we're at nine 190 push-ups but however i don't think they just did 47 push-ups that fast yeah i don't know how many they just did there but i don't blame them i definitely couldn't get down there and do 47 push-ups right now let that be 190. we have an army of cheerleaders this year looks like we got 4 6 8 10 12 14 16 17 out there and one injury 47 nothing columbia leads the redbud musketeers in week one action of the ihsa season for 2020 being played in 2021 wilbermeyer sets up to kick he sends it deep and it will be caught at about the four yard line it's going to be bobbled a little bit but picked
122up by red bud who goes up the middle and caught at the 20-yard line the tackle made by colin saigon i think he just grabbed on and took the guy to the ground and just held on for the ride i'm pretty impressed by adam meyer's boot tonight he's been putting them inside the five at least at least a 10 getting them to at least a 10 if not a touch back so that's a great positive thing for any any coach any special teams coach and i know coach kendall takes a lot of pride in his uh special team stuff so props to adam with meyer on the kick in tonight redbud gonna have doubles to the right side shotgun formation running back to the right gonna be a snap that goes to the quarterback going
123to be handoff that goes to the left side bounces back to the right side still running hard is number 35 and he gets a 10 yard gain but he was hit at the line of scrimmage like derrick henry out there picks up nine yards 10 yards first speaking of coach kendall we will talk about this in his coach's corner he is i believe fifth place all time on like the longest kick or punt or something like that in the state oh really where is he oh fallon yeah you ask him he'll have the yardage the window oh yeah yeah he'll probably even show you the cleats he did it with probably yeah absolutely coach kendall o'fallon grad went on to punt and kick kendrick university so that's a good guy you've got college experience coaching
124football you like to have that background knowledge doubles of the left side tight end left running back single in the backfield going to be a pass play by number six luck he's gonna throw it down the middle of the field he's gonna be caught but tackled right away by number three bryce hildebrand good for about 14 15 yards first down red button by number three pretty good arm there all right i think bryce hit him before the before i even caught it yeah brings up a first down red bud now with the ball at their own 49 yard line redbuds set up about 20 yards deep for their huddle there guys are going to be winded when they get up to the line of scrimmage doubles to the left running back left shotgun formation for
125redbud first and ten they're gonna hand it off up the middle to number 33 who's gonna gain about three yards and get brought down by a flock of eels by a flock of eagles and a yellow handkerchief hits the ground face mask on the eagles we've had a couple of those tonight and that's something that we said in my uh three keys to the game not a lot of penalties and we've had a couple face masks that we could take back that we could clean up for next week but against still looking good here jared when we started this game we had a nice little orgasm situation on this desk and right now we've got papers on top of each other it's okay second down and two you can't let everybody know our we're not
126uh ready for this stuff well we're ready we just gotta fumble through them redbud runs 15 yards back up to the line of scrimmage gonna be eye formation tied into the left left side ball on the right hash three minutes 20 seconds remaining in the third quarter going to be a roll out to lot to the right it's going to be stuck right away by defensive back from the eagles who come flying up is that saigon [Applause] looks like 14 yep colin sagan zach my number 14 colin sagan the number 54 kyle jackson so loss of about six on the play brings up a third down and eight from the eagles 49-yard line this might be the first time redbuds been in eagle's territory thinking back i think it is so i got a third
127and about seven or eight here here two minutes 40 seconds remaining in the third quarter gonna be a shotgun gonna be another lollipop snap gonna be a hold but not gonna be called gonna be caught for red bud and it's going to be taken for a first down yeah that should have been a hole back there in the backfield right four picks up 12 yards the first down for run bud tackle by number 54 good screen though i mean without the hold the without the hold i don't think it would have went anywhere but that's okay those are my screen pass so that brings up oh now they're talking about an eligible man downfield i think that's what that call is especially if it's on a screen yeah the tapping of the head looks like
128they're going to push them back flag on the field illegal man downfield against so jared start thinking i think we can agree on who the player of the game is going to be after the game i think from the first two minutes you could have guessed the player of the game i agree too we will get a post-game interview with our player of the game i'm going to throw london little lyndon little london little out is my guesses yeah i was going to say london little you were going to say london i think we got a consensus yeah definitely 28. so third down to nine ball at the 50 one minute 10 seconds remaining in the third quarter doubles on the left side going to be a quarterback run right up the middle sniffed out
129right away by the number 52 garrett poulter brings up a fourth down and nine another three no not a three not they got a first down there but if you don't give it to london i don't know did we have a sack tonight from our quarterback did he get sacked tonight i don't nothing that comes to my mind no not that i can think of so you could won't throw one of the offensive alignment in there defensive lineman have been in the backfield pretty good complete game so far we're not over with yet keep this goose egg up on the scoreboard be pretty nice so fourth down to nine redbuds going for it ball right at the 50-yard line gonna be a drop back by number six easton luck he's gonna throw it to the
130right side and it's gonna be oh he dropped it dropped right through the hands of zach wetzel he was right there waiting for it and it falls incomplete maybe that's better that he didn't catch it though because you get the ball still at midfield here good point so that brings up a turnover on downs columbia offense will take over at the 50-yard line clock stops while they're switching the field i like the spot if you currently look you're about to start on a first and nine look like uh who's over on the chain gang i think it looks like alfie longroff on the i think it is alfie first in nine for the eagles but they move it back first and 10 from the 49. dominic vaguely hands it off to butelman who's going to
131run to the right side try to run away from three redbud musketeer players and is unable to do so so at the end of three quarters the eagles currently lead the redbud musketeers zero we will be back back with quarter action after this welcome back ladies and gentlemen to columbia high school where the eagles are taking on the red button musketeers here currently leading 47 nothing in the week one matchup of the 2020 season alex schlemmer and jared germain a 2015 grad 18 18. i'm not that old i thought you're older than that i'm sorry my apologies it's all right coming to you live for the first time with the video broadcast with the audio i believe next week will be audio only we are still waiting to hear back if we can have the
132video when we go to salem salem next week the wonderful trip last time we were there we did what thursday night football it was it was the big rain or something yeah wouldn't it yeah we had to cancel the game on friday because we were supposed to get a lot of rain on that friday and they just said let's play on this thursday so we went up there me and you went up there that thursday night broadcast to the game pulled out win trips left gonna be a handoff to beatleman who goes up the middle and he's gonna get brought down for a gain of two was hit at the line of scrimmage so he was able to fall forward we did have our first what looked to be cramps of the night redbud devin
133hall tackled by frankford who's getting his calf stressed out on our sideline here in between the quarters he's been playing a heck of a game he's been both sides of the football we've been saying his name a lot third down and seven gonna be a fake handoff caught out here to the left side is drew meganson who's gonna get back to the line of scrimmage and get no more might be the first punt we're seeing tonight from the eagles he's just about to ask you i think it is our first punt and it will be adam willmeyer coming back for the punt you think about this too you got colin mclaren out here speed so if you want to fake it great london little london little up top and i think two trains out there
134with them yep and then you got andrew malding back here as well so i mean if you ever want to do a fake you got plenty of guys to say you got some speedsters out there which i can't tell who the last player was that just came onto the field but good snap punk gets off and it's a good punt wave for a fair catch and caught at the 20 yard line which is where red bud will take over red butt takes over 20 yards and we got our second cramp of the night this time of columbia eagle i can see a three on the jersey i can't see the other if there is another number or not though seems kind of chilly out there i'm warm but i'm getting a little chilly here i
135know our cameraman here got a cold cold hands holding the camera what are some places that we have to do this outside we did at fairbury and that was that was cool absolutely windy awful we had uh freeberg i think we were inside some places you never know either you carlisle inside you end up outside and that's i'm in we might have more rain too like coming up in the since we're playing in the spring too so with the injury on the field we will send it to break we will be back with 10 minutes and 39 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter welcome back look like number three bryce hildebrand was the injured eagle and the play just looks like cramps redwood takes over at the 20 it's going to be a pass up
136the middle of the field is going to be caught by number 12 for red bud who's just on a straight go route to parket van dorn good for about 16 yards and brought down by number 18 for the for the goals hayden habermill gain of about 16 brings up a first down and 10-4 redbud at their own 36-yard line 10-10 remaining in the ball game columbia leads 47-0 on a pretty clean game by the eagles offense and defense defense has been very good tonight as they are on the field on a rollout to the right side it's gonna be sniffed out by the eagles gonna be another pass play to number 12 and it's going to be just dropped bobbled around bounced up and down and habermill on the area of the play almost had
137an interception i don't think he was ready for that second attempt i don't think he got he got his first chance at it and then the receiver tipped it off his hands and i didn't think he was going to have another he probably didn't think he was going to have another chance at it but hit him in the arms on the way down before hitting the ground like i said earlier now we've just got to keep that goose egg up on the field that's true i believe last year we had three of them if i remember correctly three shutouts i think we did have three shutouts might be somewhere in our mess of papers we got here maybe not who knows second down and ten doubles to the left side running back left gonna be
138a handoff up the middle nope gonna be pulled by the quarterback who's got the right side he's being chased down by drew meganson who is going to make the tackle after a key of about 11 then i bring up a first down four red bud good job by uh megan's in there to chase him down the down though go by number 11 drew meganson got a pretty good crowd here tonight for the eagles lined up a little bit along down the fence got a little blue crew over here to the left side of us there was a good student section over there it's thinned out now but at the start of the part of the game i like to see as many as there were red by taking taking the time in their huddle now
139they're coming up to the line of scrimmage as they get ready for this first and ten from their own 48-yard line high snap quarterback's going to take it roll out to his right pursuit there's a couple eagles on the pursuit and he's going to get sacked for about a loss of six or seven looks like a couple there was a couple players in there it looked like uh 65 owen brewer was one of the first ones there that might be the first sack of the columbia eagles season yeah luck's been able to run around and just throw it off his back foot and get rid of it so like we were saying about the shutouts i told you that i had that paper printed somewhere in our mess going to be a time out on
140the field red bud so last year like we said earlier 43 points per game given up eight so that was 476 points to 95. we had four shutouts two seven point games and one 3.8 so that includes games whenever you give up 28 points to roxanna and uh fairbury you gave up 28 points so not a uh not a bad defense in this year you're starting off the season with a uh 47 bomb on the board right now 47 bottom with a board and a big old goose egg so coach has got to be happy with that oh no doubt i guess we're not seeing no coach tremaine hat backwards this year he's matured red bud coming back going to be a second down and we'll call it 20. seven minutes 37 seconds remaining in
141the fourth quarter they're going to have doubles running back to the right side following the right hash gonna be a lollipop snap again gonna be caught at line of scrimmage and number 12 is going to run all the way up to the 45 yard line he got downhill in a hurry there you see that play a lot with the eagles too little screen pass from the outside receiver taking a step forward and coming right back running straight towards the quarterback number 55 bryce aymond six foot five 260 came up slow on the play i think he gave us a thumbs up though the ref ref by asking me he's all right and he said give him thumbs up good to go they got number 65 as 510 but he was standing next to number 55
142and look like they're the same height third down and 14. gonna be a pass play down the middle of the field gonna be caught by devin hall once again who's gonna be short of the first down but keep fighting and he might have got up to the first down marker i think he just ran a slant down the middle of the field forces the safety to come up and try to make a play but great great ball and great catch to get to a fourth that's a big man running down the middle of the field trying to catch a pass too red buds really exploited us in the middle of the field tonight yeah all of their completions have been down the middle that's something coach germain want to work on next week fourth down
143in one all at the eagles 43 yard line red butt under center this time i formation gonna be a quarterback sneak to the left side and it's going to be good for a first down after a gain of four look like luck just got behind his big uglies and followed pushed him forward so brings up a front and 10 from the eagles 40 yard line 5 minutes 40 seconds remaining in the ball game jared will be going down to do a post game interview with london little tonight at the conclusion of the ball game doubles to the right side two running backs in the backfield with luck as quarterback gonna be a high slow snap that's gonna get caught by the quarterback now he's got a scramble being chased by three eagles throws it down
144to the middle of the field and it's going to be incomplete good pressure there by the by the eagles to get there uh in the backfield pretty quick they were but probably back there in the first two three seconds that the quarterback had the ball but some of these snaps tonight have been so high for the quarterback and just slow to get get there so good job by the eagles to get in the backfield number 57 mason schnabel in number 62 jason kaczynski for the two eagles in pursuit of the quarterback and yeah those shotgun snaps and make it rain four minutes 30 seconds remaining no joke they set up for a huddle 10 yards deep and it's going to be no delay of game could have been but it wasn't sneaky quarterback sneak but
145he's not gonna get anywhere gonna get right up to the line of scrimmage once again bring up a third down and 10. mason schnabel on the tackle i remember playing red butt all the time i mean it would at the end of the games it would usually get kind of chippy so always look out for that um towards the end of the game here nothing worse than going to red but though and having to listen to the fireworks definitely makes it a fun atmosphere to play in though and that's a lot of conference or uh cokia conference places that you go to it's tough to play there third down and 10 for the musketeer is going to be another high make it rain snap thrown to the right side and it's going to fall incomplete
146the defender there for the eagles i believe was number 18 hayden habermill about a yard short he could have had three picks tonight he's about just a yard short of all of them [Music] so that brings up a fourth down in 10 from the 40 yard line colombia gonna have three degree definement two linebackers and another one coming up is colin saigon who's on a blitz who's got the quarterback in his sights and just misses a sack luck's got to scramble throws it to the right side and this one could be picked off and it is caught by number one zach wetzel for an interception for the eagles their fifth turnover of the takes night near the 20-yard line so the columbia offense will come back onto the field up 47-0 with two minutes and
14747 seconds remaining in the game wetzel in the right place at the right time for the interception and seals the deal and barring no turnovers by the eagles offense will leave the shutout intact columbia going to go into the victory formation and take a knee so should be able to run out the clock i believe official want them to reset the play clock to 40 seconds i keep resetting it to 25. officials now saying don't worry about the play clock go by the back judge he's the one that has the final say in the play clock seems like more of the stadiums are starting to get more play clocks in back in the day though they used to only get one one or two fields had the play clocks and then you had to watch
148that back judge and had to know where you were official starts counting down five seconds dominic vaguely takes the snap takes a knee to get us to one minute and 45 seconds left in the week one action jared is on his way down to the interview with london little something new this year usually we had to have the coaches sprinting up here and get him up here but with mr nickerson's great setup that we have we have the interviews on the field so next week columbia will travel to salem for the seven o'clock game against i believe the wildcats if i remember correctly in week two action vaguely goes under center once again takes a snap takes a knee with one minute five seconds remaining so that'll bring up a fourth down and 16. offense
149comes off the field punt team comes on probably going to be about 20 seconds i believe difference [Applause] the student section just now getting into it over here to our left side 10 seconds remaining it will be about 20 seconds differential having adam webermeyer back to punt standing at the two yard line good snap gets the pun off it's going to be another spiral punt to the left side going to be caught by red bud gonna be about the 37 yard line he's going to try to get something out of nothing and he's going to gain about five yards and that is it nick danter on the return picks up 10 yards on the play [Music] so that will do it ladies and gentlemen nope they stopped the clock too nope now they just said
150go for it so that will do it now officially columbia wins this week one action then match up against the redbud musketeers the air horn going off man that thing is loud [Applause] [Music] new thing this year they do not have to shake hands players just raise their helmet to each other do not shake hands and jared is getting london little down at midfield right now we'll let them get squared away coach warner taking the team to about the 35-yard line london's struggling to get his helmet off jared's trying to help him right now [Music] london you got me down there yeah i got you welcome to a wonderful senior season you started off with a bang tonight going with the pick six the punt return or the kickoff return uh what's it mean to
151get back out onto the field and get your senior season underway uh it it definitely feels good uh just being back out here with the boys um hey i couldn't ask i mean i ain't complaining we got our season so ain't nothing to complain about yeah absolutely one of the things that coach germain was saying this week he said he wanted to bring the juice and i think you guys brought it offensively and defensively what was it like preparing instead of having a full preseason you only had the two weeks what was it like preparing and knowing that you got to get ready to rock and bring the juice in just two short weeks i mean it was definitely a struggle um not much for like wide receivers but our alignment just too much in
152their head they're just i don't know it was fine all right well hey we won't give you any more we won't give you any more tough questions you guys pitched a shutout in week one you're up you win 47 nothing you got next week with salem wildcats good luck next season or next week and good luck with the season and we'll see you next week in salem all right thank you thank you good game tonight bud so that was london little tonight's player of the game a huge night don't know the official stats yet we will get those for you next week but uh kickoff return for a touchdown picks pick return for a touchdown as well just a great night by london little we will send it to break and we will be back
153to columbia after the eagles beat the redbud musketeers 47 nothing welcome back ladies and gentlemen to columbia where the the columbia eagles knocked off the redbud musketeers 47 nothing alex schlemmer and jared germain with you again columbia proves to 1-0 on the season and had a pretty good night all together had some big scoring plays had some big stops and a couple of the scoring plays that really stood out to us the most uh no you don't on the offensive end without football like i said 496 days since we last saw you and we had a great time on behalf of columbia high school coach horner mr nickerson mr reeves we thank you all for watching again we encourage you to support our sponsors for supporting us and we will see you next week in
