All right. Testing, testing, 1 2 testing. Testing. All right. Yeah. >> please. Today is Tuesday, April the 21st, 2026. It's 6:30 p.m. 18:30 hours military time. We are here at Creek Monice School Board of Education regular board meeting. Roll call, please, Madam Secretary. Ms. Wilfalk. Ms. Venegas. Ms. Wilfalk. Ms. Mr. Sawalesh. >> Here. Dr. Hall. I'm here at 6:30. I know No, you No, you walked in at 6:30. Zite Summers is here. Mr. Gallegos. Mr. Brown. Here. All righty, can we stand for the pledge of allegiance led led by sophomore board member Janine with our mission statement led by our our board secretary Jamie. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
Our mission is to engage and empower our students to positively impact their community and future. Thank you both. Do we have any electronic or personal public comments? Okay, hearing none. Do we have any board updates? Only board update I have is I know that we've had some pretty good pretty good sport uh sporting events that went on last week. However, our band, choirs, all of them went to Herscher High School on Friday and competed and they swept all the divisions and took first in all four. They did very well. Wow. That should be on the good news. It was. And um I was over at the high school earlier for for a meeting and I seen the spring musical. You're joining? Uh they were doing a trial, you know, their rehearsals, so that's coming up
as well. So, once we get the dates, let everybody know. So, that's going to be pretty good. Put you on speaker. Okay, thank you, Bill. Elizabeth called in, so Um I will I'll mark Elizabeth's time at 6:33. Okay. Did you hear that, Elizabeth? Yes. Okay. Thank you. All right, thank you, Bill. It's good news. Have anybody been to any baseball games? You? I want to see the >> the first first home run hit out of the stadium. Was it the first pitch >> By Akreet Moniz. Cuz the first one was hit out by an opposing team. >> Oh, was? Yeah. Wow. But How was the atmosphere? Oh, it was great. Softball and baseball playing at the same time. >> Same time. Yep. And if you go up in one of the thing, you can watch
both. So, it's pretty cool. >> really beautiful. Yeah. I was there and same thing. They both They were both playing at home. Uh boys' baseball varsity and varsity girls' softball was You know, it's one of those visions I think four or five years ago you never thought you'd see, and it looks awesome. Wow. >> Kids love it. Um I just think the coach it's great for the coaches, the the students, everything. It'd be great if we can pick a game that we all can go to and wear our shirts. Our baseball shirts. Yeah. Think about it, okay? Before these seasons come and go real fast. >> Real fast. Especially with weather, too. Yes. So, I'll like a nice warm May day, okay? Dr. Calvin means are you >> No, May is unpredictable. Yes, and we
do have a ribbon cutting ceremony that's going to be coming up. So, I >> May? Is there a game that day? Yes, there is, and it's called >> That might be the opportunity. >> I I think it's the 7th. I don't have it in front of me. I sent that out in my newsletter for you, just so you can target that, and I'll send that out again just to remind everybody for >> it's Friday. Yeah, it's that Friday. >> Yes, that Friday. Uh-huh. And we're also, I think, if I'm not mistaken, we're hosting uh a track invitational. I thought that was on the docket, too. So, find out >> a track like a a regional or or or sectional? I mean sectional? Our first high school event because the other track and none of it
was >> We couldn't do it. Correct. So, that's coming up. That'd be great. >> Yeah. I need to get up on things on these games here. All right. So, and that's coach G. Mhm. Honor. Okay. Great. Any other board updates? Tom. One last one, Mr. Okrzynski sent out pictures. If we when Miss Heinlein and Miss Hageman put that together, well, you know, with the board updates and whatnot. And if you notice the pictures in there, Mhm. Bare Construction allowed our kids to put hard hats on and vests. >> Oh. And they were able to tour around and kind of walk through the construction site and they kind of got an explanation of how it works. So, that was really great that they did that for the students. Okay, great. Bill, do you know are we
on target to for completion? >> Yeah, so far everything looks good. I talked to Jason a little bit the this afternoon when I was at the high school. Uh-huh. But if you look at the pictures, I mean, I think we're doing very well at that point. You could probably ask Keith. I we're on target for the most part. They're going good on the outside of the middle school. I asked Mr. Okrzynski at the last meeting, has there been any, you know, Again, they're doing it during school hours. Has there been any interruption? And I asked Mr. Nothing. >> Wow. >> So, it's it's going well like they like they said it would. Are they working evening hours? Do you know that? >> Okay. All right, good. So, we are on schedule for completion sometime sometime
this summer, right? Yeah, I would assume before Keith, before the next school year. The >> Okay, Keith. Keith, the inside classroom The inside stuff that that when we took out that auditorium part with the concrete, that should be done I think for next school year. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Wow. Man, we are rocking and rolling here. Uh President Brown, we have Mr. Gallegos now just to make sure that you saw he's now joining us uh via uh the phone. Alex, I know your voice. I I I want to see if you are AI. So, please please announce your name. Must be AI. Must be AI. Alex, can you hear me? Don, you set me up. Okay. If there's no other board updates, we're going to get right into the administrative updates. And number six, Alpha Superintendent,
number one, good news. Yes. Uh this evening we have uh Ms. Keely Childers and Mr. Donzel Franklin. They have asked to um have a few minutes with you to uh share some exciting things, and I think you've got a presentation for the board this evening. Yes. Okay, come on up. You can come up with There's two of my all-time great heavy hitters of University Park, the one-two punch. All right, good evening, everyone. Good evening. Um I stand here uh before you as the president of the University Park Youth Athletic Association. Uh we just want to offer our heartfelt thank you for allowing us to utilize the facilities for basketball this winter. Um ensuring that the kids had something to do productive during some of the most critical hours of the day is something that's extremely
important to us. Uh so, we just want to thank you uh so much for the partnership. Um we've also been allowed to have access to facilities for spring training for football, which is something that I've never seen happen in the 30-plus years that I've been a part of this program. So, a milestone in my mind, um, that the kids from University Park are able to access and, uh, have practice on the turf field and and these things that I watched their their eyes, uh, light up when they're able to access these things. So, we just want to say thank you and we brought a a plaque today that we're going to present to the board. And uh, the plaque reads, "The University Park Youth Athletic Association Lions Basketball Team would like to thank you for
your valuable contribution towards the success of our program." So, I'll pass the mic over to UPYAA's lead consultant, Ms. Keeley. Good evening. Good evening. You know, I'm 5'9", so I have to pull this down. Um, first of all, I'd like to take a personal thanks to this gentleman behind me because um, I ain't going to say how long I've been part of this program, but they won't let me go. Uh, because my heart is always been with young people. I've been a part of Creek for over 42 years. So, I've seen a lot of people come and go and my energy is always here for the young people. So, I would like to take this opportunity, first and foremost, to thank your maintenance department, the buildings and grounds. Mhm. Awesome. Each school that we went
in, they opened the door with coming out of their own time frame to be able to accommodate us. That meant a lot to us. So, I did present, and I know you found out, I gave everybody a gift cuz I'm a gift giver. So, I wanted to let your staff know that what they did for us was not unseen. Um Miss Gretchen, oh my god, she is target on with that calendar. She made sure that everything was communicated with us. Everything went so smooth. And last but not least, I cannot forget my Mr. Kenneki. Kenneki opened the door for us. We have a lot of communities that came and played at the high school. We were the largest facility, let me say that, that we played in. And when those babies walked in that gym
and seen our gym, they were overwhelmed. We talking about from kindergarten to eighth grade. And one of the things that we try to do along with the association, we try to keep these programs going to make sure. So with the 7-on-7, again, the athletic department has been outstanding. Uh Matt, he made sure on the marquee when you walked in the building, it had UP Lions on it. And you talking about cheesing, we was in glow. So I personally uh bought you all some gifts cuz I believe in gift giving. So on behalf of everybody part of the football association, we want to give these wonderful gifts to you all. And I do have one other I have two other gifts. I left them in my chair. So can you pass these for me? Here. Make
sure you get it cuz I got a whole bunch of them. There we go. So we can't forget the president of this this school board because one of the things that I could say me and him, we've been working together. Our children are alumnus of this school district. And one of the things as alumni, you don't forget where you come from. And because of that, we have a gift for you. And now the lady on his other side, Dr. Carr, you have done a tremendous job in bringing communities together. Again, I've worked with a lot of superintendents, a lot. And one of the things I can personally say about you is you come above and beyond to make sure that you're part of the community. So for me and Mr. Franklin, thank you so much.
Excellent. Would you guys like to say anything? I thank you all for all you all do for the community. I really I really really appreciate what you all do for the community. It is has me smiling. I know that you all work hard. I know that you all care. I see it every day just in the community. I hear about it. I even hear when Dr. Coglinese talks. Uh nothing but good good things to say. And if I can ever help in any way, please reach out. You've done a tremendous job. Thank you for Thank you. I think we appreciate the time because if you don't have someone in the district or in the program but then you're giving your time, it's that's that's a huge thing. So we appreciate everything you do because eventually
those kids are coming here. Right. Right. And and even the football team when they're the younger kids are practicing they're looking at some point maybe I can play here. Exactly. >> If they're playing basketball, maybe I can play in the big gym. So yeah, thank you for all your hard work. Yeah, I and again, I you know, words cannot describe the impact that both of you have, not only on your community, your village, but the the community at large. So, Keely and and Denzel, uh you can run for president and vice president of the United States and you get my vote. Uh hello. I I got to sneak in there. And his wife is one of my volunteers. I'm not sure that this is going to show that much. Cuz it's going to be too
small. All right. Thank you. Thank you, ma'am. Thank you, Denzel. Thank you. Well, Denzel was the senior athlete, male athlete of the year. And my daughter was the female athlete of the year the same year. So, and you talk about 30 years, I remember you as a little 14-year-old. And and Keely, you have not aged one bit. You had my little 6-year-old son who's over He's 36 now. And you taught him a lot of dos and don'ts, how to carry himself on the basketball court when he can barely pick up a basketball. So, nothing but good things to say about both of you. Thank you so much, okay, for all you do. Quick question, is there a website if someone wanted more information about the program? Yeah, it's called Keely and Denzel website. Uh so,
the website is in the process of being updated, >> Okay. but it is unifiedsports.com. Okay. Thank you. Thank you. Great good news. Great good news. >> Yes. Thank you. I'm a stepchild of University Park, so great good news. All righty. Consent? I would like a motion to approve the consent agenda. Okay, hearing none, I would like a motion to approve number seven consent agenda as is. Moved. So moved. Moved by Moved by Bill, second by Alex. Yeah. Okay. Um any questions or comments? And then I don't know if Mr. Swales will explain it or just give it back to you again. Bill, you want to say anything on that? I think >> Uh the only I had brought that up earlier in email. One, I wanted in in the past, which I think moving forward the non-administra- the non-union and the administrative contract or raise is separate. Separate cuz the percentages are different. So, they should be voted separately. So,
I want them split out. If I mean we we did in the past, and I guess maybe I didn't see it last year, but when I saw this and then I went in there and looked I I think it should be sep- you know, voted separately. And we yes, and we can do that for next time. Next regular board meeting and a good catch, Bill. I appreciate it. Yeah, I agree with that. >> I guess I I'm just for understanding um that's not possible to do now like just vote on them separately. >> it's written that way, I we have to approve it as in this this format. So, that's why we have to go back, separate them differently, and and that's no big deal. >> And I asked Dr. Cara, you know, the time
frame. It's we're early. Yeah. So, we have plenty of time. It's not holding or changing anything. We've just got to have change the wording. >> Mhm.
